View Full Version : Heads Up! Crystal Palace may be closed during DIS-CON

There's a post on the restaurant board that someone was recently told by the waitstaff at CP that Crystal Palace will be closed starting in July until the last 2 weeks of December for a major refurb.

Just wanted to let you all know since I have read many people want to eat at CP for MVMCP. You might have to think of an alternative.

No one has heard if there is a replacement - if Tony's will start serving breakfast again to make up for it or what - so just check in every so often I guess.

Yikes! Thanks for the heads up! Geesh, there's always something to throw a wrench in the gears! We'll keep watching!

Maybe that explains the liberty tree tavern eats add on they are doing when you buy the ticket. Will other places be open for dinner or will LTT be the only ones lucky to be in the park?

So many questions??????

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, no panic, no panic, no panic!!!! :D :D :D

Maybe the castle would be the next best choice. I've never eaten there for anything but breakfast but I've heard their food is good. Hmmmmm..... just gotta keep our eyes peeled. Wonder when they will make the "official" announcement.

While it's not the same, someone just posted that when the Yacht Club Galley closed, they were taking PS's right up until the day it actually closed. So who knows when the "official" announcement will be made...

Can you believe in all my years of going to Disney, I have never eaten there.. it is always too darn crowded.. Thanks for the info as it will help with the planning for those who were planning on eating there.. :)

Chris, the castle is really very nice for dinner, but on the expensive side. If it's true that the CP is going to be closed, we're going to have to come up with an alternative! There were some people that did Tony's for dinner that night, too. I've only done breakfast there, so I don't know anything about dinner. Now, we're not going to panic-just worry a little! ;) :)
Marsha, we ate there last year before MVMCP and had a great time. The food was good, and the characters were so much fun!! It was a perfect way to start the evening.

I've eaten at Tony's and I would eat there again but I wasn't totally impressed with their dinner. Some people just rave about it, but not me. Maybe we could go eat at GF or Poly or Chef Mickey's?????? We'd be close to the park then....... I've wanted to try Kona Cafe - I don't know if they serve dinner but one of those would be a spot I'd eat at. We've had dinner at Park Faire - it was okay. I've not eaten dinner at Chef Mickey's but that would be a thing to try.....

I guess we'll just worry about it later...not much we can do now.

Kona serves an AWESOME dinner, IMO. There is a Spotlight Review over on the Rest Board (its stuck at the top) that I did, if you want to read it.

I just called to check on the CP rumor for the restaurant board. It will be closed July 29-Dec 15. Who knows if it will actually open by then or not. But that is the official status. The CM had to go check with someone else--the official news just came off the wire.

CORRECTION: The guy I spoke with yesterday said it would reopen Dec 5 but it is actually reopening Dec. 15.

Thanks DG!!!!! I think we have a lot of great opportunities if CP doesn't open for us Dec 8thers....I'm game for a resort dinner and hop on the monorail to get to MK!!! We'll see as it gets closer to October!

Thanks for the info, DG! If we can't eat inside the MK, I imagine dinner at a Monorail resort would be the next best thing. I did MVMCP a couple of years ago and came from the TTC to the party. It was a nightmare. I think we waited about 30 minutes for a ferry ride, and by the time we got there, the MK was packed.

Acccccccccccckkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!

Of course the mini-meet that I'm hosting is on Dec. 3. Well like Ray said, maybe they'll open a couple of days early. Dec. 5 is a Thurs. That's a strange day to re-open.

LTT would not work for a large party.

OK.........we'll just keep our eyes and ears open to see what alternatives we have.

4 months for refurbishing is a really long time.

Hmmmmm.. All those places are good (Chef Mickey's might be a riot with our group), but we really liked CP 'cuz it kept us in the MK
the whole time. It really added time for us to "do it all" by not having to come back into the MK.

Well, we really don't know anything for sure about CP yet, so I'm going to follow my good buddy Scarlet's plan and "think about it tomorrow"!:)

Corinne, I love that!! I'm a huge GWTW fan and have always subscribed to the Scarlett "way to live"!! LOL
I was also thinking the Chef Mickey's would be a riot with all of us. Can you see 20 or so DIS nuts waving their napkins in the air?!?!?!?! What a photo moment!!!!!!:p :p :p :p

I hope that I am down for 12/3, but I am still thinking about changing to 12/8. Either way I vote for Chef Mickey's if the CP is closed! The buffet there is good and it is a lot of fun. We did a big Dis meet there one other time and it worked very well. We can then walk to MK (or Ray can tow us behind it Electric Cart).

So: question.....For those that are sitting at my table, do you want to try for Chef Mickey's if the Crystal Palace is still closed? I can always do a double-book PS  and then cancel one or the other.....

Steve, I give you my proxy as well. :) CM sounds good to me though. :)

That's right...isn't "No food fights" one of the 'official rules'? ;) :D :p

I LOVE waving my napking around......"Whoo-Hoo!" :bounce:

"...No food fights???..."

Oh well...O.K.!

I vote with what Steve and everybody wants.

You know me...I like putting pictures up and I remember this one from Olena's DIS meet at WDW.

Here is a link to the rest of Olena's great pictures at Chef Mickey:

And if you want to see other DIS meet photos or DIS-CON-I photos, just click on one of the two PandyPaws links below in my signature area.

I bet that we will be able to do CP.

I'm goin' with Steve's intuition for my table too!!!! You all okay with CM?????? I think it'd be a riot...what can they do....throw us out if we get too rowdy????    :D :D :D :D

We are good little DISCon children....we won't cause any food fights!!!!

*99 wonders however if the food that flings out of the napkins when spinning around can be called a food fight???? I guess it would depend on who it hits!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

tammyh-oregon
05-31-2002, 03:16 PM
hmmmm
Could be good practice for flinging baseballs at the ISAW dollies.

Honest, Mr. Security Man, I didn't know I still have peas in my napkin from hiding them. Sorry. Won't do it again. (fingers crossed behind back)

Food fights RULE!!!

CM sounds good.

And no self respecting DISer would be rowdy at a character meal. :p Any that aren't or weren't shall remain nameless. As long as I don't have to wear the food again, things will be fine.

99, my dear, you and I think a lot alike. ;) Particularly about the napkins and food.

Barb and Tia would be horrified and we'd probably get arrested by the DIS police.

I don't know Steve,
I have it very good authority, Mine, that Barb and Tia are pretty rowdy at Character meals.

Just mention Duck, Duck, Goose to Tia and see what she says and as for Barb, all I can say is that at least she didn't break anything during the meal.

Hmmmm....me is beginning to think that I might need to keep some bail money behind just in case Mr. Doctor P has to come and bail me out!!!!!! ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

99, my dear, you and I think a lot alike. Particularly about the napkins and food.

Ummmm...Mr. Steve....this could get scary!!!!!!    Isn't it fun planning to be evil and get in trouble!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D I don't live up to my tag for nothin'!!!!! ;) ;) ;)

December99---Got you covered--I'm a Qualified Bail Bond Agent-(This means I get to own the company and work all the long shifts). Since I'm going to Discon II I will sign-up to be the resident Bail Agent. ( As a point of fact my license is only valid in the state of Wa.--). And yes, I have been known to arrest a bail jumper or two. PattyN
