I am really nervous now about not having trip insurance and am wondering if I should purchase through Disney or if anybody has any other suggestions? Also how far in advance must you purchase it. Thanks

I found it to be cheaper to purchase it with companies other than Disney...I bought ours through CSA Travel...their website is www.csatravel.com I heard about them through these boards..their prices were very reasonable and I had, I believe, up to a week before my trip to purchase it. I do know that I purchased it after I made my final cruise payment. You can check their website for a free quote...

Whenever I read an independent article in a travel publication or an online source, it usually advises to buy the travel insurance from a source other than the travel vendor, to avoid any potential conflicts with the provider.
I always buy the insurance when I book the cruise for the benefit of using the provision that will cover existing medical conditions. Often, if you don't buy it within the first 7 days of booking the cruise, the insurance will not cover preexisting conditions.
Technically, you can wait until the day before your cruise to purchase the trip insurance, if you buy it from some companies, like CSA, available online.

I can't offer any exerience using any insurance other than the one that AAA uses when you book thru them, I just know that the CSA people will book very close before your cruise.
I think I read from other posters that you can purchase the insurance thru DCL up until the final payment date.
hope that helps

Personally, as we will have alot invested and would rather be safe than sorry, we intend to purchase travel insurance when final payment is made.
I like the site http://www.cruisediva.com/insurance_sites.htm
It has excellent resources for travel insurance comparison.
Go to "Insure My Trip" ,enter your trip needs to receive several insurance company comparison quotes.

The http://www.insuremytrip.com site is indeed a good one. If pre-existing conditions are an issue for you, pay particular attention to the different ways that the various companies handle it.
