Hello there everyone! Welcome to my newest PTR! I'm starting this with only 27 days to go. Let me start by explaining the title.

First of all, I am technically, officially, and completely allowed to use the term "band geek". Why? What qualifies me? Well... I AM ONE!!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Susie.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/TripoutEast04040.jpg

I am a third grade teacher in a suburb of Indianapolis called Avon. And, NO, I don't sell make-up or ring doorbells. I DO, however, participate in community theater:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/ScaryMayzie.jpg

I also LOVE the arts... all kinds! Even drawing!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030089.jpg

And acting, of course!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030108.jpg

All of my love for the arts started way back, back when I became a band geek. I started with the piano, moved on to flute... then to percussion. Decided to play saxophone and even did a stint as drum major. All of this lead to my desire to be in the color guard! Once that started, my life changed. I really came out of my shell, met my DH, taught color guard for a LONG time.. then moved on to theatre. I still teach color guard camps, clinics, and other special occasions. Like this past winter, DH and I were asked to teach the Bands of America Tournament of Roses Honor Band.

Here we are in sunny CA:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/DSC_0998.jpg

Here is the float our honor band was partnered with:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n759290656_5467079_192.jpg

And here are some of the girls in my color guard:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n759290656_5467086_2453.jpg

So.. you can see. I'm pretty much a band geek. But I couldn't call a whole TR "Band Geeks Takin' Over the World" if it was ust me, right?

Well, you caught a glance of my handsome DH. That's Matt. He is an associate band director here in Avon. It's a pretty incredible band program. They just won the Bands of America Grand National Championship this past year. He is not only a band geek, he is an UBER band geek. When he is not teaching band (which is hardly EVER), he is the brass caption-head at Carolina Crown, a drum and bugle corps! His dad was a band director and his brother is a band director. Yup... Band geek through and through!

Here is another picture of us:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030132.jpg

And my favorite one of Matt:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n759290656_4542321_3352.jpg

Two band geeks enough? How about the kiddos. OK, they really aren't old enough to be band geeks yet... but with the history of the family... they are DOOMED!!!

The first is our DS, Tyson. He is a 2nd grader. Taking piano lessons, playing basketball, performed in a few shows with me. Handsome as can be!

Then we have our little princess, Shaelyn. She just turned 3 on Valentine's Day. Her big thing right now is potty training. It'll be interesting debating pull-ups or panties on this trip!!

Here are our darlings:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/0463987e-01bf-11dd-9e4f-0019d16b429.jpg

But WAIT! There's MORE! :scared:

We have some dear friends that planned a vacation the SAME time we did! They live about 45 seconds away from us in Avon.... and.. YES... they are BAND GEEKS TOO!!!

Dean is a band director at Avon, as well. Actually, he is starting up their orchestra program. He also teaches drum and bugle corps and went to CA with us to teach the Honor Band! Here are Matt and Dean in the limo on the way to the airport:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n527231619_2326004_133.jpg

Then we have Dean's lovely wife, Adrianna. She is a band geek by marriage. Maybe we could call that band geek-in-law?:confused3 She adores gardening and all things flowery. She will be going to town taking pictures at the flower and garden festival!

Finally, rounding out our troup of band geeks, we have Dean and Adrianna's daughter, Abby. Again.. a bit too young to be a true band geek, but definitley destined to be one!

Here are Tyson, Abby, and Adrianna in the limo:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n759290656_5467056_3371.jpg

Dean and Adrianna at the float making tent in CA:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n527231619_2396142_9070.jpg

Tyson and Abby at the Pacific Ocean:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n527231619_2326017_3906.jpg

Matt, Dean and Abby being silly outside of the Grand Californian Hotel:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/n527231619_2396762_9320.jpg

So, as you can see, our families have GOBS of fun together. Lots of laughter... lots and lots of laughter!!

But what is even MORE special.. the MOST special.. is this:

Even though band eats up a majority of our lives... DISNEY is JUST as important to all of us!! When we found out that we were both planning a trip at the same time, we couldn't stop smiling, planning, anticipating, and celebrating!!

Now, we are not traveling or staying together. They are hauling a camper to Ft. Wilderness. We are staying at BCV (We have been DVC members since 2004). We plan on doing some things together, but mostly plan to have our own family time.

Stay tuned for our joint plans, separate plans, and pictures of our Disney planning meetings!

Yes... we have Disney meetings...

You love us already, don't you!

Sign in and let me know you're along for the ride!! I'll be baaaaaack!

Being busy keeps me in line! If I'm not doing something, I'm too tempted to do NOTHING! Know what I mean?:confused3

Yes.. it is VERY cold here.. but the sun is shining and there is no snow to be found! So I think we have it a bit better than you!

 Hi there DIS friend. Glad you're along for ANOTHER one! Aren't you sick of me yet!

Ok, I will ATTEMPT to tell you how to do the links in your siggie. Good luck following this!

1.Open a new window and go to the 1st page of which ever TR you're trying to link.
2. In another window, go to my "edit signature" found in "quick links".
3. Click in your signature where you want the TR link to go. Click on the "insert link" icon (the earth).
4. Go to the window with your TR in it. Copy the URL.
5. Paste the URL into the "insert link" text box back on your siggie page. (erase the http//.. just paste your TR URL right on top of it)
6. After you click "OK" or "enter", you will see the url in your siggie with a portion of it highlighted... that is the text you can CHANGE to say what ever you want. So you can change it to "2007 POFQ" or whatever. You can also change the font, size, color, etc.
7. When it shows up in your siggie, it will automatically be underlined, indicating a link.

  Are you lost? Cuz I am!! Good luck!

While we were in CA over Christmas break with Dean, Adrianna, and Abby, we decided that we have WAY too much fun together and need to set aside time for our families to hang out. Since we knew our Disney trip would be upcoming, we decided to try and have weekly Disney meetings!

In the beginning, we used our meetings to make ADRs and decide what things we should do together. Here are a few of our plans:

The night both families are in in Disney together, we are kicking off the week at O'hana's. Nothing like stuffing yourself silly on the 1st night!

We have purchased tickets for La Nouba. Matt, Tyson and I have seen this (Ty was only 3!) but our friends haven't. We are looking forward to sharing this amazing show with them!

Campfire thing with Chip and Dale. Dean is planning this, but we are going to head to the campground one night... have a cook-out with our friends, then head over to the Chip and Dale fiesta... mmmmmm... s'mores!!

Another meeting we had, we just made lots of food and played Disney Scene-It. I'm proud to say that we took 'em down!! Although, they did kick our butts on several questions... most families can't do that!

Our most recent Disney meeting was our craft meeting. We got supplies to make our COUNTDOWN CALENDARS!! Check out the food we had:

Can you find the hidden Mickeys in my fruit pizza?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030449.jpg

Adrianna and Abby brought a princess cake!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030450.jpg

And Mickey cheese and crackers, of course!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030452.jpg

Here we are making our calendars:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030454.jpg

And the final products!!

We've already peeled off several days. It's getting here soon!!!!

We are very blessed to have lots and lots of Disney friends... these guys are the greatest because they live so close!

The bottom is sugar cookie. I just bought refrigerated dough and rolled it out. The 'sauce' is actually just a tub of fruit dip! It's supposed to be a cream cheese mix, but I was short on time! The fruit dip worked ok, but it was a bit too runny! VERY quick and easy to make!!:thumbsup2

As long as BF understands and accepts your geekiness, you should be ok!:rotfl: Did you ever march in a parade at Disney? I did Magic Music Days WAAAAYYY back in 1990. It was a blast!

Thanks, the fruit pizza WAS yummy! Now, see if you can find the hidden Mickey in the strawberries around the outside;)

They actually sell it just like that. It's in the cheese section of the grocery store hanging with the bags of pre-cubed/ sliced cheeses. Disney actually has quite a few grocery items now! The other day I made Mickey and friends shaped pasta!!::MickeyMo

Another former band geek jumpin in for this PTR. I was a high school band member a few moons ago playing flute, piccolo and occasionally percussion/misc. Many of my classmates were in the PCC Tournament of Roses Honor Band (I was first chair and I never did it, was afraid I would mess up on tv), I sure wish I had auditioned now that I look back. I have nothing but great memories about band, we were all a family.

Love your hidden mickey in the fruit pizza! Your kiddos are sure cute!

I have a good friend who worked with the color guard for the PCC TOR band for many years. Too bad you didn't get a chance to march. Don't you hate looking back at mistakes you made in High School?:sad2:

So.. it's time for the stroller debate:dance3: You all were looking forward to this, weren't you?

We will only have one child in need of a stroller this trip. And I am thanking the stroller Gods every day that I no longer have to push around the double stroller BEAST!!:worship:

When we took our quickie getaway in September, we just used the cheap, Wal-mart umbrella stroller for Shae. This time, I'm debating using a Disney stroller for her. Let me share my thought why:

Why I support taking the umbrella stroller only:

SAVE MONEY
We can use it for the walks back to BCV from Epcot
SAVE MONEY
Smaller and less intrusive to fellow visitors
SAVE MONEY
Can use at the resort as well

Why I support renting a Disney stroller:

Lots of storage possibilties (cup holders, etc.)
Sun shade (umbrella stroller doesn't have)
Sturdier
Don't have to drag on buses/boats/monorails
Lots of storage possibilities

Please share your opinions or ideas!! Thanks so much!

Hi Sooze! Just wanted to weigh in on the great stroller debate! I sooooo hear your point on the saving money!! Being that the umbrella is so small and compact, I would bring it especially staying at BCV because if you walk to Epcot and DHS that might be too much for little Shea's legs. Then maybe when you go to AK and MK you can rent one that way you aren't spending as much money as if you rented the entire week. Just my 2 cents of course!:goodvibes

wish i could weigh on on the stroller debate..but i have no experience with strollers:laughing:

Just from what I saw, I think the sun is a HUGE deal. The Disney ones have super shading abilities, and I would just get nervous if your other one didn't shield from the sun very well.

I guess, since we're driving, I could always throw it in the car to use around the resorts and walks to Epcot and DHS. We DO plan on coming back to the resort often, so it'd be helpful. Great thoughts! Thanks so much!!

I feel the same way... I have never been during Spring Break with a child, so I don't know how bad the sun/heat will be:confused: I do like to have the shade, especially when she's sleeping in the stroller. Thanks for weighing in.. you had a good thought, even with no experience!:thumbsup2

So.. it's time for the stroller debate:dance3: You all were looking forward to this, weren't you?
Oh, I'm all over stroller questions... I've used 4 differetn ones at WDW and have lots of opinions, lol!

Why I support taking the umbrella stroller only:

SAVE MONEY
We can use it for the walks back to BCV from Epcot
SAVE MONEY
Smaller and less intrusive to fellow visitors
SAVE MONEY
Can use at the resort as well
Those two reasons right there are my big ones. Leo hasn't really needed a stroller for the MK, DHS or AK in years, but if he was tired at the end of the day, or early in the monring, it was a life-saver at the resorts.

Why I support renting a Disney stroller:

Lots of storage possibilties (cup holders, etc.)
Sun shade (umbrella stroller doesn't have)
Sturdier
Don't have to drag on buses/boats/monorails
Lots of storage possibilities
How much would it cost to trick out your own stroller with a clip-on sunshade and cup holder/s? I'm betting less than the total cost of WDW rental. I like the neoprene bottle holders with the snap closure - I think they're designed for attaching to your belt loops. But I use them on the stroller - work great! :thumbsup2 Also, I got a net "basket" to attach to the back of my old carppy umbrella stoller for like $8 at Babies R Us to hold diapers, snacks, sweaters, etc.

the stroller that we got at babies r us, ruled, we loved it, so light and compact when not using, it had a foot thing that you could kick over and fold up, also had a detachable attachable thing on the top for the sun visor...also had a nice mesh pouch on the bag thta we liked there are a couple of good pics you might have seen in our TR.

i am against paying for strollers there, we used it everywhere on property and so glad we had it.

and for under 20 bucks, we didnot care if it did get stoller or damaged on the under belly of the plane.

Oh, I'm all over stroller questions... I've used 4 differetn ones at WDW and have lots of opinions, lol!

Those two reasons right there are my big ones. Leo hasn't really needed a stroller for the MK, DHS or AK in years, but if he was tired at the end of the day, or early in the monring, it was a life-saver at the resorts.

And this is why I love the DIS... super ideas! I think next weekend I'm going to price some 'better' umbrella strollers that come with a sun shade, then add extras, like the net 'basket'.

Thanks for the thoughts, V!!

:yay: Yay! You're going back! :dance3:

 You're driving! :scared1:

:surfweb: The stroller debate... it's been awhile... (I'm old, remember?) but I vote for bringing your own umbrella stroller. Those big blue WDW strollers scare me. :scared:

Love the pic of the kids. SO adorable. You're a lucky mama. :goodvibes

Yeah.. we're driving... just easier to pack everything up... the kids sleep most of the way (we drive through the night).... so it's not too bad! Plus, I get to catch up on DisUnplugged and other podcasts. :thumbsup2

And, yes, I'm lucky!! My kids are pretty dang cute, if I do say so myself!:rolleyes1

I think I might go check some out... she could be in a stroller for at least another year, so it could be a great investment! I hate that our Babies R Us is a half hour away from us.. ick!

I'm in, not a band geek, but I do love your TRs. I love to go to WDW in Spring, it is my favorite time of year. We were very lucky to have great weather every day of our late Feb trip this year. Hope you have the beautiful sunny skies too.

Can't wait to hear how you like FW, campfire and all. How fun that you have friends staying there so that you can visit them. Have always wanted to experience the campfire Disney style.

I'm in also. Wow! It seems like you and your DH have quite a few band accomplishments.

My DD is definitely a "band geek" and will be marching at Magic Kingdom at the same time you are there I believe. She marched at MK in 2007 also. DH and I are driving down to watch. Wouldn't miss it for anything. She is a "guard" girl and LOVES it! I know band has truly been a very special/important part of her life. Or shall I say it IS her life.

I can't wait to read the rest of your report.

I sure hope to have great weather, too! Not too hot, but definitely warm... keeping my fingers crossed!

We've never been to FW, so we are looking forward to our time there, too!

I have heard some pretty GREAT ideas on these boards throughout the past few years. Now I'm hoping to get some of them!

Here's what I need:

I have a classroom of 25 kids. :teacher: I've left them twice already this year for Disney:rolleyes: . The first time, I brought back pencils, they loved those! The 2nd time, I brought back Mickey chocolate gold coins and stickers... they thought those were ok...

Now, I need something special to bring back to them! Can you help me? :confused3 Can you think of something affordable (or better yet, FREE) that I can take back and share with my kiddos? I'd love your help!

Thanks, friends!:flower3:

Hey Susie!
I didn't get to weigh in on the stroller debate yet. Even though Disney is costing us SO MUCH MONEY on stupid strollers by upping their costs, I'm a huge fan of the disney stroller. They are sturdy, great storage, don't have to haul it on and off the buses, it can be trashed, kids can spill things and you don't care, the sunshade, etc. etc. I say go for it, just my oppinion!
As for the souveniers, do they sell Disney tattoo's anywhere?? Those Disneysuckers come in multipacks and aren't that expensive, you could bring back a couple of those (you know, the mickey head ones, I think there are like 5-8 in a pack):confused3 What a nice teacher you are!

Hi Susie,
I found you and it's only 12 days in. I think thats a record for me.
It is so cool that you are going with good friends. We have always wanted to go with our good disney friends but since we live so far from each other now(Ny & Va) it's unlikley. Yeah to disney meetings.
I need to go back & look for the mickey head strawberry-I didn't find that one.
There is a new commercial by us for Mickey & friends eggs. I didn't know mice could lay eggs??

Matt and I fall victim to the 'easiest' answer and usually that means just renting the darn stroller... and bringing the little one from home for resort use. We'll see what happens I guess!!

I have purchased pirate tatoos before from WDW... not sure what other kinds they have, but it's a good idea... thanks!

Susie,
It sounds like you have some fun things that are new for you, and/or your friends.

I took my DH on TSM last month, it was during ESPN Wknd so I knew the park would be crowded. We were way up by the hat at rope drop and followed the crowd to TSM. We skipped the fastpass line and hoped in the ride line. Basically just walked thru to the stairs, it was a great decision. Because we didn't have kids, we didn't bother getting in the huge line for the FP after our ride. Seriously it was probably a 40 minute line! I wonder if it will ever get any better?

I just love the Finding Nemo show too, and being next to EE, my favorite AK ride is great. Two more weeks, that will sure go fast.

I LOVED your "new stuff list" I wish I were going with you so I coul;d see the Nemo show! My boys are thrill ride JUNKIES and all about THE RIDES! I might take a solo time out to see that (might need that with the long trip we have planned):rolleyes1

Back to the souvies, I was going to suggest the lollipops too...lots of bang for your buck there!

Question for you. Tyson and my Matthew are the same age, how did Ty do walking around the parks last July? Did he poop out pretty quick? We will be taking midday breaks but I know it will be HOT in June!:confused3

Thanks Sooze!

The bad thing for us, too, is that DHS doesn't have AM EMH until the day we leave! We were hoping those EMH would help us get on TSM quickly! Guess we'll just have to get ourselves to a rope drop and get in line as fast as we can!

Ty did GREAT when we went in July, but we were only there for 3 days. This trip is going to be much more telling! I'll let you know how it goes!!

And you GOTTA get to the shows... especially if you're going to be there for a while (sorry I haven't gotten over to your PTR... I'll get there soon!). The shows are a GREAT break from waiting in lines and being out in the heat.

Ok, here is my souvie idea, and yes it's FREE!!!

Here's what you do, bring back a park map from each park you visit for each kid in the class. When you get back you can pass them out and then go over where you visited in each park and talk a little bit about it.

I think your kids would get in to it, especially if you have them guess each day what attraction you visited and then reveal it the next day. Or something like that..... :confused3

Also, what's great is that you can couple this along with a really cheap option and it appears that they are getting a lot. :thumbsup2

Well, that's my idea.

Have a great night!!

We'll be on the road a few days after you. 14 hours and hopefully we will be there! We drive through the night also. A lot less traffic.

We are looking forward to the Kim Possible Mission also. We will be doing this with DD and some of her guard friends.

We also love the Finding Nemo show and can't wait to see it for a 2nd time. We will try to sit further away this time though. We sat pretty close the last time and missed some of the excitement when some of the puppets came into the audience area. I am thinking it is better to sit a little further away.

Have a great time and I am looking forward to your trip report.

Sitting close and sitting far away provide two completely different Nemo experiences! I LOVE sitting close because I enjoy feeding off of the actor's energy. I love to see their sweat and spit flying! Last time, I tried to sit in the back section for the first time. Oh my! I was missing a LOT of the effects until I saw it further back!! Either way, it's a fabulous show. But you get the 'whole picture' when you sit back a ways.

Have a safe ride... we're looking at 15-16 hours... not too bad...

New here so this is the first TR of yours I read. Not sure I would call myself a band geek but I did play trumpet in High School band. I was also in the parade in MK in 1993 as Grand Marshals (see avatar).
On the stroller my daughter bought a Mclaren stroller last year it folds up small has storage and a sun shade and it's made well enough to use for a few years.
I am a major Disney nut we will be back for our 33rd trip in May. We are driving again but it's a 21 hour drive time for us or about 25 to 28 hour total time with rest stops. We leave at about 1 or 2 AM to get past New York rush hour traffic and so we can go to one of the parks when it opens.
Looking forward to reading the rest of your TR. Have a great time

Another cheap and free thing, u could also give out some of the free stickers that you get on property and some of the soaps and shampoos as prizes for things.

And the cool thing about Disney maps... I think some of their compass roses do NOT have North on the TOP.. kids don't get to see that very often, so it could be a cool learning tool.

Unfortunately, I won't be getting too many cute soaps and shampoos since we are staying DVC and will only get mousekeeping once during our stay. Unless I go on a Mousekeeping cart stake-out... just like Dan and Candi!!:upsidedow

How do I survive after driving all night?.... DISNEY ADRENALINE!!!:dance3:

Seriously, though... We will leave Saturday afternoon. I plan on napping pretty hard before we go (which will be difficult because I'll be so excited!). DH will take the first leg of the trip, which is usually 4pm-1am. Then I do the graveyard shift (1am-8am) while DH sleeps. I listen to books on tape ... which is really on my ipod now... and catch up on Podcasts that I listen to. I actually LOVE the quiet time to myself before the craziness of the actual trip starts! Then DH gets up and lets me doze the rest of the way in. Actually, the two times I've driven through the night, it hasn't been that bad!

To make up any needed energy, we ALWAYS come back to our villa for lunch/nap time each day. While Shae naps, sometimes we ALL do too... or one of us will take Tyson back out to the parks or to the pool. So, there's plenty of time to catch up on sleep!

There are pros and cons to flying and driving. We just pick what works best for us (and our budget) at the time!

Okay gang, get your best car-ride ideas together and let me hear 'em!

Most of our ride will take place while the kiddos are sleeping, but we will have several hours to kill.

So far, here are my plans:

Portable DVD player... I already bought 3 new movies the kids haven't seen yet and will pull them out and surprise them throughout the trip.

Mileage tickets... The kids earn a ticket every 30 miles. They can redeem 4 tickets for a prize (cheapy dollar store things.. trinkets, toys, books, dolls, cars, etc.)

What else to you have?:confused3

i like the ticket thing, something else my parents did to keep us busy was to tell us to look for certain things, like a mileage number or a restaurant, and if we saw it we got a prize, my mom would have boxes of stuff wrapped up for us.

you could add that to the ticket game and hav ethem look for things for extra tickets.

Play Disney Trivial Pursuit - or make up your own Disney Trivia questions. Have Ty be the official score keeper. :goodvibes

For the nighttime driving when the kids are asleep: Each of you make a 'Mix Tape' CD or playlist of MP3's and surprise each other. Throw in songs that remind you of places you've been or special things you've done together.

Bonus tickets! I love it! Maybe they could keep their eyes open for anything Disney related... like Mickey's Auto Shop.. or a princess on a billboard. Cool idea!

Disney trivia is a wonderful idea... maybe they can earn more tickets with correct answers. Maybe I'll have them earn 10 tickets before rewarding them with a prize, so the trivia questions will be that much more fun!

I also love the playlist idea, however.. when I'm driving... Matt'll be out like a light!! He sleeps SO well in a car... not me, tho!:sad2:

Two weeks from right now, we'll be on the road!:woohoo:
Hey Susie, sorry I've been slacking, been a little busy obsessing over our schedule and ADR's, now that those are secure I am SO excited for your upcoming trip, can't believe you are FIVE DAYS AWAY!!!
As for the above.
Love the Swiss Family Treehouse, but we have never spent as much time as I wish we would.
We really enjoyed Tom Sawyers Island, such fun. Be sure to try and find a paintbrush!!! We had friends who found one! We've visited the princesses in toontown, this year can't wait to meet the fairies!!!

For Epcot: we did lunch at Askershus and had a great time, been to lunch and dinner, not breakfast, hope it is yummy and you get to see all the lovely ladies you guys desire : ) Kidcot stops Lauren LOVES, Luke just isn't too into the coloring, etc. hope Ty loves it. Can't wait for you guys to do Kim Possible and post info about it, Luke REALLY wants to do this. Can't wait to see all your Flower and Garden pics.

Toy Story Mania was our FAVORITE!!! Get FP's upon arrival, those babies go FAST and the line is RIDICULOUSLY long (as I'm SURE you have heard) Luke loves Indiana Jones, can't wait for Ty's reaction. Lauren is so thrilled about American Idol so I can't wait to see, are you going to audition??? I SO HOPE YOU DO!!!! If you do, I expect video!!!:thumbsup2

For AK, for the Tusker house lunch are you doing the nemo package thingy with the seats for Nemo?? Can't wait to see this for our first time coming up! We've done the breakfast, never the lunch, hope it's yummy!

DTD: Can't wait to hear all about T Rex, we're trying that when we go, hope it is as cool as it looks.

GREAT PLANS, can't wait to live vicariously through you very soon!
Les

Thanks for all of your thoughts, Lesley! Yes, I DO plan on auditioning for Idol. I'll probably take in a show or two first, to get a feel for it, then jump in and audition.

We really don't have a lot of ADRs on this trip. We really wanted it to be about 'go with the flow' for us. We are planning on eating A LOT in our villa and doing mostly counter service. So Tusker House will be 'on the fly'... no Nemo special seating. Besides, there's really not a bad seat in the house for that show! (Except for in the front section right next to the ramp!)

I can't wait to take pictures and notes of everything so I can share it all when I get back! Of course, when we return, it'll be all about the end-of -the-year school crunch:banana: So my TR might become a special summer edition. I'll try to get it up before YOU guys leave!

Actually, We could use you in the back seat, right in between Tyson and Shaelyn. You could be the peacemaker any time the two of them start to pester each other! You could also be in charge of refilling Shae's sippy cup anytime she asks. Interested?

from what i have read on some other sites, they make it seem like the CMs go out during the day in the parks and find people to adition then they adition for the judges then, if they pass the first round they get to come back and sing again for another judge from a list of songs, they they get to go out on the stage and go for the 3rd round in front of people.

I think you can actually just show up and audition for the first round (which is just you singing alone for the first set of judges). Then, if you make it past the first round, you go to a place with an ipod loaded with some pre-selected songs. You pick one of those to use for the 2nd round. THEN if you pass that, you get on stage... which, I think, is basically what you just said!

I wish you all could see my kids right now! We are officially done with school and focused now ONLY on getting ready for this trip. They are a giddie as can be! Running around, begging us to tickle them until they can't breathe. They are so excited!!!

Trying to get laundry done, things for the car organized, lesson plans done (so I don't have to worry about them on the trip), last minute purchases written on a list, oh... and of course, checking in with the DIS!:thumbsup2

I'm sure I'll stop in one more time before we head out. Our plans are to leave Saturday afternoon after naps (which Shae, Matt and I will be taking!!!). That should put us in the Happiest Place on Earth Sunday morning!!!:cool1::cool1:

So, Dean, Adrianna, and Abby left today. They are hauling a camper and must travel a bit slower than us (plus, Dean couldn't stand waiting around another single second!!). We surprised them by showing up at their house to send them off! We played "When You Wish" as they walked out of their house to get into the truck. It was great! We were honking and whooping and hollering as they pulled away. The neighbors must've thought we were insane!!:rotfl:

Can't wait to see that camper sitting at Fort Wilderness in a few days!!

We are busy packing and cleaning (so we can come home to a clean house.. very important to me!)... Shae is hanging out in front of BOLT... great movie BTW! We are just aching to pull out of here tomorrow. Now we're dealing with the threat of some bad weather on the way down tomorrow. Say a little prayer that it doesn't delay us too much!:sad2:

Thanks for hanging out with me for the past few weeks! When we return, I'll most likely post a link to the new TR. I will have chapter links in the first thread, so that should make it easy for you to read along.

Ahhhhhh.....:cloud9: We're here... and enjoying every single moment. Today the weather has been hot and muggy... feels more like July than March! But it made for a great afternoon at the pool today.

We've been having a blast with our friends. We've experienced lots of new things, and have more to look forward to!

Couple of thoughts:

I LOVE BEING A DVC MEMBER!! Experiencing POP Century, then moving into our BCV.... there is no question we made the right choice joining DVC.

Toy Story Mania... BRAVO DISNEY!!! Holy COW this ride is FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC!!

O'Hana.. I will not plan another Disney trip EVER where we don't eat at this restaurant. Greatest food, ever!!

Kissimmee Walmart... My new home for buying Disney clothes. I will not spend $20 for a t-shirt at a Disney Store again.. $9 at Walmart... much better and I can buy a lot more!

American Idol.. no, I haven't auditioned yet (having too much fun with Shaelyn and couldn't pull myself away)...but we DID catch a show (as audience members).. it is GREAT!! They pulled out all the stops for this one. SUPER SHOW!

Well, folks.. I'm off to Fort Wilderness campgrounds for a cook out with our friends, and the Chip and Dale sing-along. Take care!

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you hang around for the TR. I'm slow to post sometimes (especially at the end of the school year!) but I'd love to show you the fun times we are having!

We put the countdown number on the paint chips using a black Sharpie marker. We taped them to the poster board. Underneath, we had different pictures of our favorite things at Disney. (Just went to Google images and printed off different pics). So each day, as we pulled a head off, there was a picture underneath to get us excited!! We will definitely do countdown calendars for future trips!!

Thanks for your kind comments!:goodvibes

Shae and I just got back to the villa to eat lunch and nap. It was a great morning at Epcot after a magical breakfast with the princesses!! Shae got to see all of her favorites. She waltzed with Aurora (after knocking her down with a big hug:laughing:) and hugged Ariel tight. Completely star-struck the entire time.... and didn't eat a BITE!!

The weather is still very hot and muggy.. it truly feels like summer. We are probably going to Stormalong Bay this afternoon, then back to Animal Kingdom tonight.

Crowds are VERY heavy this week! At times it's frustrating, but since we are here for a full week, we don't feel the pressure to get on every ride every time we enter a park. It's been a wonderful slow-paced vacation.

Can't wait to share pictures with you all.. though I really am not taking enough. It's hard to pull out your camera every five seconds. Maybe I need to look into a neck strap!!

:scared: AHHHHHH!! Life is so crazy right now! I FINALLY unpacked the last suitcase this weekend, a whole week after we got home. Jumping right into school the Monday after we returned was brutal... then we ran right into a holiday weekend. Grades are due tomorrow for our midterm reports... Add to that the show I'm doing... we are 3 weeks away from opening and that means rehearsals 6 nights a week... no lie!!

To top it off, my computer STINKS and needs to be replaced NOW!! I finally loaded all of the pictures onto the computer. Next step is putting them on Photobucket. Then I'll be ready to get this going.

I promise... I'll get to it as soon as life allows!!

Wow... time just slips away doesn't it? The school year is winding down and I'm looking forward to having the time to get back to the DIS... I've missed it a lot! I'm also wrapping up the last weekend of the show I've been performing in, Miss Saigon!

To top things off.. our home computer is DONE.. totally crashed. Matt has his laptop, but he's always on it for work.. just too hard for me to sit and DIS like I should! We are planning on replacing it within the next few weeks.

Those of you that still have me in your subscribed list.. thanks for not giving up on me! I'll be back.. promise!

I am DONE with school!! Hooray!!

We ordered the computer this weekend.. hoping to have it any day now! The big issue will be hooking it up and making sure it works on our wireless home network. As soon as I am up and running... I'll be working on my TR!! Thanks for finding me... I'll be back as soon as possible!

While I'm waiting for the computer (which, according to the tracking # is on a Fed Ex truck in Indianapolis TODAY!!!), I figured I could do a little update about the souvies I got for the class!

I took Tim's amazing idea and went with it! On our last day at each park, I snagged about 30 maps. I was able to bring them home neatly and got to present each student in my class with a fresh map from each of the four parks. They were so excited to open them up and look at all of the great places to go! Only a few of my kids have ever been to Disney (I teach in a pretty low socio-economic area), so it was fun for them to see what is there.

After they browsed for a few minutes, we did some map activities! We looked at the map keys and I quizzed them on what symbols on the map meant. We listed some things that the kids would love to do or see most. Finally, I gave them a times guide for Animal Kingdom. We decided if we were able to go see "Festival of the Lion King" AND "Finding Nemo:the Musical" if we didn't arrive at the park until after lunch. It was a blast!

So.. thanks Tim!! The idea was perfect!

Now, my next dilemma... I'm looping with my class.. so I'll have all of the same kids in 4th grade. You KNOW I'll be visiting the worlds AT LEAST once next school year. So, start thinking of new ideas!

By the way.. I did bring a little banner that I was going to have all of the characters sign. But after the first few hours in the rain.. and the banner didn't fit all the way in my bag... I was done with that! So maybe I can try that one again!

Hang tight, everyone. Trip Report coming soon!
Man... I hope I remember what we did!

keeping with the mapping theme and no cost to you, before you leave on your trip, you could tell them to map out your path around the park, and on the board put down the time that it will take to wait and ride certain rides, and you have to be done at a certain time to make it to the 3 oclock parade, and see what they come up with

or something along those lines.

After bidding farewell to our Band Geek friends the day before, our itch to leave was getting UNBEARABLE... and no amount of Cortizone could fix it. First, we had to get through Ty's basketball game that morning. Then, we had to make sure I could squeeze in a little nap. Believe it or not, I slept for about an hour. Finally, we had to make sure the car was loaded up and ready to go. Matt did most of that while I was sleeping... but it was time for the final addition:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030520.jpg

We decided to leave a bit ahead of schedule (note, itching mentioned above). But we also heard of some nasty weather between Indy and FL... we were hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Once we hit Nashville, all weather hell broke loose. It was AWFUL!!

We had to stop several times because we heard there were tornado warnings in the area.:scared: My poor hubby kept plugging away. I kept offering to drive for him, but he kept saying he was 'fine'. I know how hard it is to drive in that weather.. shoulders all tense, fingers gripping the steering wheel, no cruise control for hours on end, eyes straining to see what's ahead. :sad2: Exhausting. But I guess Disney was calling.. so he kept going!

FINALLY as we crossed into GA, he was ready to turn the wheel over to me. I basically drove through GA... once we hit Atlanta, the weather let up. Wow... what a relief.

Matt woke up once we crossed into FL and took us the rest of the way in. Wouldn't you know, once we got about an hour from Orlando, the rain came AGAIN!!:headache:

We were exhausted and hungry, so we stopped at a Cracker Barrel at 6am. Man... if you want quick service, and you don't mind dining with the local assisted living facilities... eat at 6am.. for real!

Ok kids... let's go!

Why are they smiling so big? Is it because they got to sleep for 90% of the ride? Is it because they weren't too stressed about the terrible weather we just drove through? Is it because they earned lots of tickets and opened fun presents throughout the ride? Is it because they have cute little animal neck pillows from Wal-Mart?

Of course not... it's because of THIS:

Glad you started this report... I just realized your ticker...SSR later this summer- do tell the plans!

We are doing a big road trip to the East Coast to visit family and friends in PA. We decided to drive down 95, let the kids see the Atlantic, and end up in Orlando. We are meeting Matt and his drum corps again (we did the same thing last summer.. .see 2008 OKW link below!) and spending 4 days with Mickey! Using developer points to stay at SSR in a studio. It'll be cramped, but a nice mid-summer getaway!

We found our resort with the help of our GPS, and the magical purple signs:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030532.jpg

Of course, the room wasn't ready. We weren't expecting it to be, but a teensy part of me was hoping....

I have to say that when I walked into the massive, bustling, lobby, I really got excited. It had quite a different 'vybe' than the DVC resorts. Lots of big families, excitement mounting from several 'rookies', confusion of the big crowds... I don't know, it just felt different, yet more exciting. At our DVC resorts, we usually experience the calmer, 'I've been here three times already this year' kind of people. As they say, we feel more like we're coming "home" at our DVC resorts. Again, different, but in a good way.

After checking in, the CM gave us the card with the phone number on it for us to call to see if our room was ready. HUH? WE have to call THEM?! Geez... at our DVC resorts, THEY call US when it's ready...:snooty: Disney snob emerging.. be careful!!

We headed back to the car and drove over to the Beach Club to park. We were feeling very skanky in our travel clothes, so we used the fabulous facilities in the BC Villas to change and freshen up. Then we were off to Epcot! (Duh... where ELSE would we go?!)

Let's GO MOM!!

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030534.jpg

As you can see, we DID end up bringing the umbrella stroller. It even had a little sun visor, so it worked out just fine!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030535.jpg

This was our 'sign' that day. We were just so excited that we had 6 full days there, that randomly, throughout the day, we would just yell, "SIX!!!!" at the top of our lungs!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030536.jpg

We made it safely to International Gateway. Matt walked up to the CM in one of the ticket windows and said, "I'm going to spend a lot of money right now!":rotfl: He had to buy 2 annual passes for the kids! I meandered to the other CM in the other window to pick up my AP.

So, with fresh APs in hand, we were ready to go!! But... wouldn't you know it... the RAIN RETURNED... and MAN, did it ever return!

So, we took the opportunity to relax at the Gateway and people watch... families running through the monsoons. Some with ponchos, many with umbrellas, few just braving it commando!

Just enjoying being here:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030537.jpg

Rain, rain, go away!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030540.jpg

But, LOOK, Mom... it's DISNEY RAIN!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030543.jpg

The kids had a ball playing in the drips and puddles:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030544.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030545.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030546.jpg

So, I know many of you are wondering, "Why didn't you follow the DISboards advice and stock up on Dollar store ponchos? You could be well on your way to Mission:Space by now!" Well, let it be known... SOOZE DOES NOT DO PONCHOS!! I hate them! I hate the way they smell, I hate the way they feel on my already wet skin, I hate the way they trap the humidity and heat around my body, I hate the way you have to deal with them when the rain is over (and, no, I'm not throwing them away until Disney recycles plastic rain ponchos!!)... so there.. I got that off my chest. I would rather sit, soak in the rainy Disney atmosphere, or just get rained on than wear a poncho. Whew... thanks for listening!

Finally, the rain let up. We headed first to Spaceship Earth. There was no line and we walked right up to the ball... then it happened... Shaelyn started to freak a bit!:scared:What?! She's ridden this already?! Oh no.. I think we've hit the age of fear of the unknown... the age of wanting to be in control instead of just riding whatever the family wants. Dang..

Thankfully, since there was no line, there was no time to let her freak-out escalate. We got on, she was nervous, and then everything was fine.

We spent a lot of time in the Siemens exhibit:

At this point, our band geek friends, Dean, Adrianna, and Abby, had found us!!

What do we do know that our group is finally together?!?! Split up of course!!

Love how you were yelling out "6" too funny!! A great feeling I bet though! I don't love the dollar store ponchos, but I like the heavier ones! It should be interesting to see what happens when we are there during the summer rainy season though!:confused3 Poor Shaelyn, I am glad her nervousness didn't last long! Looking forward to more!:goodvibes

Yeah... yelling "SIX" was fun! Then, as we got closer to the end of the trip, it got sad.. because it would be no fun to yell "TWO and a HALF!!!":lmao:

Shae was pretty trusting after that first episode! Thankfully!

GREAT update Sooze! Tim and I were laughing out loud about your poncho comments, Tim is the EXACT same way, he NEVER will wear them, too funny! Loved the pics of your kids playing in the rain, Luke and Lauren are the same way. Sorry about Shae's freak out but glad all was well in the end, can't wait for more.

Thanks, Lesley! Hoping to squeeze in a few more before you go! I think Tim and I should develop a picture that we can put in our signature. Something anti-poncho!:rotfl:

As Matt and Tyson were busy making sure the imaginary city had plenty of power, Dean, Adrianna, and Abby found their way to us. After several celebratory minutes of "oh my gosh we're really here" cheers, we decided to head out to the rest of the park. Tyson was just dying to get on Mission:Space. Abby and Shae were begging for Nemo. So.. what to do?:confused3 Well, what any good band geek group would do... DIVIDE AND CONQUER!!

Tyson and I headed to MS, Matt, Shae and the rest of the crew went to Nemo. :flower3:Thanks Matt!! He spared me from yet another ride in the clammobile.. well, until later, of course!

Tyson threw a curve ball at me when he told me he wanted this:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030550.jpg

Yeah, seriously... that's a GREEN side ticket.:sad2: BORING!! See the look of disappointment on his face? I think he really felt bad that he was just a bit nervous to jump on the orange side right away. That's okay.. I only harassed him for about 20 minutes:angel:

View as we headed away from MS:

Ty playing with the Stitch topiary:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030552.jpg

On our way across Future World, we made a stop in one of Ty's other favs at Epcot, Innoventions:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030553.jpg

We just love the hands-on stuff:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030556.jpg

One of the things I really wanted to see was the House of Innoventions. In January Matt and I took the "Undiscovered Future World" tour and learned about this 'attraction'. I had walked by it a million times and never knew (or cared, honestly) what it was. As luck would have it, when Ty and I walked by it on our way out, they were just letting in the next show, and there was no line!

The technology on display in this 'home' was quite unbelievable!! My favorite was the entertainment system... the TV/computer basically controlled the home electronically. Ty and I enjoyed seeing the gadgets of the future, but I was a bit turned-off by the incredible amount of product placement. Understandably... the exhibit is completely run with the help of sponsors.. but the whole thing felt like an infomercial. I was waiting for Billy Hayes(is that the Oxy Clean guy?) to jump out at any moment!!

We met back up with our clan and started to walk towards the American Pavillion in World Showcase. All of us (ok.. maybe not the kids).. but the rest of us were really getting the VOL itch. Having all of these band geeks together makes you eager to hear some FINE music. On our way over, however, the rain made one more appearance.

Our friends whipped out their ponchos... but us:wave2:... remember us? We don't DO ponchos!! So we played "DART FROM OVERHANG TO OVERHANG" until we made it... to France! We took shelter and decided to see the movie. This is another true Band Geek moment. Matt and I (and, obviously, our kids) have NEVER sat through the France movie. Dean, on the other hand, considers it one of the greatest spectacles in Disney. The soundtrack alone moves him to tears. Well, hey, we're in here escaping the downpour, why not check it out?!

The kids had fun messing around with the gargoyle:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030557.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030558.jpg

Shaelyn decided to use the moment for some blankie cuddles!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030559.jpg

I just love how her hair curls up when it's wet!

Finally, she was ready to play around too:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030560.jpg

Having Abby with our group was just AWESOME for Ty. He had someone his age who laughed at the same things he did. Sometimes it's hard for adults to remember, get, or laugh with some of that 8/9-year-old humor, you know? The two of them were like peas in a pod. It was great!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030564.jpg

So into the theatre we go. The movie was, I must admit, stunning. The music is fabulous and the screen was huge!! Unfortunately, I had to leave 2/3 of the way through. My little potty-trained princess announced that she had to 'tinkle'!! Luckily, we were in the back, so I made an easy escape. We waited for the rest of the group outside, since the rain had let up.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030569.jpg

Come on guys! Let's go see Voice of Liberty!! YIPPEEEEE!!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030570.jpg

We sat through yet another chill-producing set of VOL. It was fun watching Dean's face throughout. He's such a true musician, down to the core... and when he hears such moving music... he can't hide his emotion. It was wonderful to experience this with friends! If the four of us ever go on an adults-only trip, I have a feeling we'd be spending LOTS of time here!!

Finally, we called POP and found out our room was ready. We were DYING for our post-drive naps, so we parted ways again with our Band Geek friends.

So... In which decade did we land? How much sleep did we really get? What do we think of our lovely value resort after being spoiled with DVC?

Stay tuned!!

Great update. Tyson's face with his green side card was too much : ) You are Tim would do so well together in Disney avoiding poncho's at all costs. That's funny about the infomercial, I feel Innoventions has been taken over that way, most of the fun stuff is gone and it's like a huge advertisement now (sigh).
You have me inspired to check out the other shows at World Showcase now, you've ALREADY inspired me for VOL, we'll definitely check it out this year and report back ; )
Can't wait to read more and see what you think of Pop!

Well, let it be known...
:worship::thumbsup2:worship::thumbsup2:worship::th umbsup2

I always feel like the lone dissenter around here, lol! I HATE ponchos. They don't keep my dry and they drive me up the wall for all the same reasons you listed. But living down here I had to come up with something for rainy season and we now do the umbrella-rain jacket-swim towel method. Regular rain gets the umbrella treatment. Full-on, horizontal storm gets a rain jacket added in. Need to get on a ride seat wet from previous poncho'd occupants? I whip out the swim towel and with one swipe - dry seats! :cool1:

Finally, the rain let up. We headed first to Spaceship Earth. There was no line and we walked right up to the ball... then it happened... Shaelyn started to freak a bit!:scared:What?! She's ridden this already?! Oh no.. I think we've hit the age of fear of the unknown... the age of wanting to be in control instead of just riding whatever the family wants. Dang..
Oh no! Sadly, I'm still there with Leo!

I was waiting for Billy Hayes(is that the Oxy Clean guy?) to jump out at any moment!!
:rotfl2: How fun would that be, though?! Or better yet, the Sham-Wow guy?!

Love the update, I'm happy you went to the show in France. It really is a huge theater, and I think it is the most beautiful music. I hope the rain did not continue your entire trip. We stayed in the 50's Pop section June 08'. Our room overlooked the pool, well kinda, if you looked to the left of our balcony you could see the pool, and then the lake was to the right.:rotfl:

Thanks! This is a camp run by Bands of America, it's held every summer in Illinois. There are sections of camp for marching, jazz, concert bands, orchestra, color guard, percussion, and drum majors. There are also director tracks, where band directors come and learn about their craft. I am in charge of the color guard instructor academy! Color guard instructors come from around the country to learn how to be better teachers, creators, and designers. It's a great week!

Boy, we were really needing a nap after driving all night with terrible weather, then dodging the rain without ponchos!

We were very glad to have our room ready at POP. They had told us at check in that we were to be staying in the 70's section of the resort. Meh.. I was hoping for 80's just 'cause I lived, loved, then loathed them... but since Matt and I were both born in the 70's, all was good.

As we pulled into the parking lot, the heavens, ONCE AGAIN, opened up. Just in time for us to have to pull our luggage and children all the way to our room. It was SUCH a long walk... up stairs and all. But we made it:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030572.jpg

Notice the looks on the kids' faces. Shae is just so happy to be here... Ty is thinking "When are we getting to our villa?":rotfl:

Seriously, I really enjoyed POP. Would I choose it over DVC, no way... but it was a great resort for what it is, you know? The theming was over-the-top, which the kids just loved! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pools (which we didn't use) looked fun. I was very ok with staying there for the night! So let's NAP!!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:ssst:

We were OUT! Once again, Disney naps ROCK!!

When we got up, it was time to start getting ready for our big dinner with our friends at O'Hana. We made sure we took time to explore the resort and get the standard pics... enjoy!

Mommy, why does this phone have a cord?

As we pulled into the parking lot, the heavens, ONCE AGAIN, opened up. Just in time for us to have to pull our luggage and children all the way to our room.
I HATE when that happens, and it happens regularly when I go grocery shopping! :sad2:

Mommy, why does this phone have a cord?
:lmao:

So how was dinner? Did it live up to our high O'Han-expectations?!

You know waiting on this is killing me, right?! :rolleyes1;)

Hey girl! Enjoyed all the pictures and glad the rain cleared up for you. How neat that they have a twister game at POP. We need to go take a look around there one trip. I can't wait to read about O'hana. We've never been but are thinking of doing it next trip.....whenever that may be. :confused3

POP was really a cool resort to explore! We didn't even cover half of it and should probably go back!

Loved all your pictures of the kids at POP, it really is fun to walk around and take pictures of all the huge icons. We stayed in the 50's section. I loved it, now not for every disney trip, but it was great for our group. We needed 2 rooms, and the price was great. We loved that you could have a "pool view" and "lake view" from the public balcony.:rotfl::rotfl:

Ohana, boy I love it there, but it is impossible to get reservations. Did enjoy Kona Cafe though:rolleyes1, that way we could get to the beach to see Wishes too. Can't wait to see your pictures.

And so as not to continue the hijack of Lesley's thread, just wanted to say that it looked like your kids all hit it off at Red Robin. s

POP is definitely a place we would use when the need would arise. But, you're right, not for every trip!!

We had breakfast at Kona a few trips ago... just LOVED it! (Tonga Toast... yummmmmm)

TimandLesley and the kids were just WONDERFUL.. even neater in person than online. The kids really DID hit it off!

Sooze,

Ohana is on the list for the next trip...at least the tentative list..:rolleyes1

Which I'm sure will change a million more times. Try to hang on to O'hana so you can make your own opinions about it!

You know waiting on this is killing me, right?! :rolleyes1;)

I do my best, V!!;)

It was time. Time to head over to a classic resort. Time to meet our 'cousins'. Time to shake coconut maracas. Time to stuff ourselves SILLY with the most delicious food on Disney property. TIME FOR O'HANA!!!

We checked in a bit early, assuming our friends were just around the corner. Our buzzer went off 10 minutes later, but our friends were just getting on the monorail at the Contemporary. So we had to give up our seats and wait until they got here.:guilty: That was a bummer because we had a party of 7, which isn't easy to sit!

Oh well, we had time to explore the fantastic Poly lobby, shops, and artwork:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030599.jpg

We were finally seated and bursting with excitement to share the O'hana experience with our friends. Here they are listening intently to our cousin's instructions on the evenings events:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030600.jpg

Shae kept herself busy showing everyone the princess autograph album we got for her. We had to keep her from drawing pictures in it herself!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030601.jpg

The drinks came quickly, and Dean was quite happy to be here!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030602.jpg

You can see we were all in sweatshirts! The rainy day just hadn't allowed it to warm up very much!

While waiting for yummys, Shae kept herself busy with drink umbrellas!!

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030604.jpg

She was such a good girl this entire meal! She is a very finicky eater and barely tried any of the delicious meats. But that bread... wow... kept her busy most of the night! Tyson and Abby were also having a great time together. They even jumped into the activities!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030606.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030607.jpg

We absolutely stuffed ourselves. I mean, roll-me-out-the-door-and-onto-the-monorail STUFFED OURSELVES!! Dean and Adrianna were super impressed and we were on Cloud 9!!:cloud9: You know that FIRST NIGHT excitement!? When you are actually, really, officially there and you still have the whole vacation stretched out in front of you!?! Man.. I LOVE THAT FEELING!!!:lovestruc

Dessert was served.. scrumptious! They even brought out a little sundae for Shaelyn, which she devoured. Hmmmmmm... bread and ice cream..... very healthy dinner, no?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030605.jpg

We all rolled onto the monorail and headed over to MK for EMH. Yes.. we were exhausted. But the pure Disney adrenaline was pushing us on. And, boy, were we glad we pushed on!! After riding a few favorites (HM, PotC) we decided to find a spot for the later running of the Spectromagic Parade. We had just come out of HM and caught a REALLY cool spot in front of the Hall of Presidents construction zone.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030609.jpg

Here are the kids waiting for the parade. You can see the construction wall behind them, then a rope right in front of them. We had front row seats with no one behind us. It was a GREAT spot!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030610.jpg

This parade is REALLY growing on me. I LOVE the music. And I'm super glad that they took the freaky masks off of the trumpet players at the beginning! Here are some shots from the parade. Enjoy!

We noticed during this parade, that Shaelyn is a complete CHARACTER MAGNET!! Every walking character on our side of the parade made their way over to her! Even the swirling little fish stopped for a wink! Here is Cinderella giving her a special wave... she even blew Shae a kiss!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030624.jpg

See what I mean?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030625.jpg

Minnie!!!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030626.jpg

Wishes was interesting this night. Shae just FREAKED OUT when she realized it was time for fireworks. We (Shae and I) had to head away from the Castle hub and into some shops for her to calm down. I should've known this age would hit... Tyson went through it too! Oh well... I know she'll come around!

We finally headed home after an AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL first day!!
Time for one last picture (Taken by Shaelyn)

Thanks for sharing your excitement. We have never tried O'hanas and I am thinking after reading your report, we might need to do that next year.

How cool for Shae to be the character magnet. I remember when my two were little and characters would gravitate toward them. It always made for some really great pictures!

Can't wait to hear more.

We really do love it. But I always try to make it known that Matt and I are NOT connoisseurs by any means! So we are not picky about food. We just love everything they serve and the atmosphere in which it is served! Give it a try and see what you think!

We sure are hoping to get a few more years out of her cuteness. You are right, it made for excellent pictures!

I was so sad to hear about that bad experience! I hope things haven't changed for the worse since we've left! I recommend it to everyone I know... I'd hate to send my friends somewhere not up-to-Disney-par!

Do you mean the entertainer? If so, it was a guy. Our waiter was also a male cousin. I think we've been there with the lady, tho... but it was just Matt and me, so we didn't pay much attention to her!

We went to Spectro again at the end of the trip... hilarious time.. can't wait to tell about it.. tho it won't be as funny as when it was happening! I'll just say, my husband can be obnoxiously funny when he gets with his Band Geek friends!

We were up bright and early for our morning at Animal Kingdom. We stopped by BCV on our way to check in. Couldn't wait to get the phone call that our villa was ready!!

Off we go!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030634.jpg

The crowds were pouring in fast and furious. We had to keep reminding ourselves that this was no "off season" trip we were trying to enjoy... this was full-out crowd-o-rama time. Lots of patience and deep breaths!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030635.jpg

My favorite part about the entrance to Animal Kingdom is the GREAT soundtrack they have playing around the Tree of Life. Looking at this picture, I can just hear it playing! Can you?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030636.jpg

Matt ran on ahead to grab fast passes for EE for himself and Tyson. The kids and I hung out at a souvie stand for a while, enjoying all of the Disney stuff:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030641.jpg

We were just so happy that the rain and chill went away!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030643.jpg

So we had some time to kill before the boys were going to ride the Yeti train.. so what should we do?

Hint:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030645.jpg

Can you see Shae saying "NEEEEMMMOOOO!!!"

Loved it, loved it, loved it... as always!!

Off to the boneyard playground. I've never been to the 'dig' site before.. guess I just never ventured that far into the playground. But Shaelyn just LOVED this place.... of course, we were cleaning little boneyard pellets out of her pants (and panties) all day!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030646.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030650.jpg

The boys returned from their harrowing experience. By this time, BCV had called and our room was ready to go. HOORAY! Shae, however, was not interested. She was having such a blast, and didn't want to leave. So Matt stayed with her, while Tyson and I went to get our stuff into the villa. We also planned on stopping at Hurricane Hannah's by Stormalong Bay so we could have lunch ready in the room when Matt and Shae returned. Sounded like a good plan.. until THIS happened:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030653.jpg

What's wrong you ask? Well, LOOK HARDER (said like Rafiki).... do you see chicken strips on there anywhere? NO!? Neither did we! Not only did they replace their chicken strips with those crappy nuggets.. no they don't have ANY! Tyson was NOT happy:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030654.jpg

We reluctantly grabbed a few cheeseburgers and made our way to the villa. Here are some pictures of our humble abode:

What a beautiful room at the BCV.:thumbsup2 You are so sweet to say the POP rooms are nice too. Heck they are nice, but when you compare to a 1brm villa, hmmmmmmm, no comparison! I am a Moderate girl, what I feel comfortable spending and staying at, but I did love when I stayed at OKW and POP too. Maybe that just means we love WDW.

Unfortunately, no. Our friend Kim and her boyfriend will be staying with my cousin Wendy at BLT. It would've been nice, but I'm not losing sleep over it.

I have stayed at the BWV 3 times...love it, but I think BCV is my favorite DVC resort so far out of the 4 we've stayed at-VWL, SSR, BCV and BWV.

:wave2: Hi from another band geek!

I haven't gone through and read everything yet, but the title caught my eye and I thought "hey, I didn't write that..."

My wife and I were both members of the LSU Tiger Marching Band. Band stuff has calmed down for both of us more recently, especially since we moved to Houston, but the spirit lives on.

In high school, our marching band took trips every other year to WDW, and that's probably how my Disney obsession started.

Just wanted to say hi!

I thought I would stop lurking and post a comment.

Great start to your report!

I agree with you about Spectro Magic and the masked guys on balls. That was toooo freaky! I was so glad when they took those off.

Beach Club looks fabulous. I have never stayed in the villas but they are comparable in size to the vacation club where we own. I keep trying to talk DH into DVC but no luck. He is agreeing to one trip every year so I guess I should not push it with him!

Looking forward to your next update!

Erika

So, one of the benefits of being a Band Geek is that you have many friends with jobs in the arts... performers, musicians, dancers, actors and actresses.. and fortunately, Disney employs many of these kinds of people. So the odds of us knowing someone that works in Disney as an entertainer are pretty darned good.

Case in point... Dean had a former band student (she was a dancer in the marching band) who now works in Disney as a character. SNOW WHITE to be exact!! (She also plays Ariel in Spectromagic!) Dean was in contact with her, and we planned a time to meet her (as Snow) in Germany. Today was the day!!

We moseyed on over to Epcot and waited patiently at the little spot in Germany where our princess would soon be standing. We were extra excited because this would be Shae's first interaction with one!!princess:

Here she is saying "Two more minutes" (til Snow arrives!)
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030669.jpg

Here is Abby with Snow White. We let her go first, since she was a friend of THEIRS, not ours! (well, yet, anyway!)
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030670.jpg

Shaelyn finally got to talk to her! You can see Shae holding her Snow White doll. Snow White appreciated that!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030671.jpg

And here is Snow signing Shae's book. She wrote a message to her.. which made us feel extra special!

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030675.jpg

And a family shot. I have got to learn how to hold my kid without looking so awkward... or, wait... maybe I could just let her stand on her own two legs?!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030676.jpg

What's that you ask? Where did Tyson go!? Oh my... he was in full-blown "I'm-too-cool-to-stand-next-to-a-princess" mode. I was disappointed, but I didn't push it. Besides, I think he was acting that way because Abby was there.

Shae and I spent the rest of the night on our own. The big kids all enjoyed the big kid Epcot stuff. Shae and I found ourselves back at..... Nemo.....:headache: But I got some cute pictures, so that's ok! Enjoy!

I keep thinking about how I can brainwash her to grow up wanting to be an entertainer at Disney World. I would be completely guilty of wanting to live vicariously through her!!

I think being a CM at Disney for Shae would be great, or at least maybe she could do the college program one semester. She would be a great Ariel.

We are NOT a rope-drop family. The way Disney exhausts you... we just need to sleep a little bit longer than rope-dropping allows. But today, today was different. Today we were determined to get our butts to DHS at rope drop so we could FINALLY ride that Toy Story Mania ride!!

As soon as we got there (on time, thank you very much), we realized WHY we don't bother with rope drops:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030683.jpg
:scared1::scared1:

The kids and I hung back in the crowds while Matt pinched and squeezed his own self as close to the front as he could.

Here are the kids thinking, "Glad it's him and not us!!"

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030684.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030685.jpg

Ty was sporting his lanyard and pins today. The funny thing is, he is NOT into trading at all. If someone asks him, he really can't bring himself to get rid of any that he has. We might need to get him a new lanyard filled with 'traders'!

Matt rocked the house and made his way to the FP machines right away! He called us and told us he already had FP in hand, but we should hurry and get over there so we could jump in the standby line, ride it, then use the FP for a second time. Our big focus for the day was TSM, so it sounded like a good idea!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030687.jpg

Of course, by the time we got over there (along with 99.4% of the rope-drop crowd), the line was out the door, around the corner, and all the way to the back-lot tour entrance!:sad2: WOW! This ride MUST be good!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030688.jpg

The line was moving pretty quick, so we figured "Why not?:confused3" and hopped on in. We did end up waiting close to 45 minutes, but compared to the 120minute wait we see posted most of the time, we figured we did pretty well. Here is Shae waiting with Daddy:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030689.jpg

And some more shots from the queue:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030693.jpg

The hidden Mickey:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030707.jpg

Daddy, are we almost there?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030708.jpg

We finally made it onto the ride. The boys took one side of the car, and the girls the other. We had the most FABULOUS time ever!!! I. LOVE. THIS. RIDE!! Shaelyn had NO trouble manipulating the equipment (unlike Buzz Lightyear at MK.. she struggles with that laser gun). I love how fast it whirls you around. I love how simple it is to score points. I love the variety of games, even tho the premise is the same. I love how LONG the ride is. I love it!!! We were so happy we decided to wait in standby, because as soon as we got off, we were able to jump back on in the FP line. Second time around was even better, since we knew what to expect. This is a definite new favorite for me.. and I would absolutely wait 45 minutes for it again.

The boys were ready for some thrills, so they split again. Shae and I decided to wait in yet another line to see Buzz and Woody. She just loves meeting and greeting and hugging characters. It is SO different from Tyson, who never really got into that!

Running to Buzz!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030709.jpg

And a hug for the cowboy:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030710.jpg

And here we are on Andy's bed! I just LOVE how it looks like his bed. You really don't notice how cool it is until you step back and look at your pictures!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030711.jpg

Next stop was the animation exhibit, where we always bypass the movie and go in through the gift shop. We were super excited to see Bolt and Rhino, but we only observed them from afar. We wanted our meeting to be a whole family event!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030713.jpg

But Mickey's line was super short (crazy enough) so we ventured over for some more hugs:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030718.jpg

Matt and Ty came over as soon as they were done with whatever thrill ride they enjoyed. We quickly hopped in line for the Bolt characters:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030719.jpg

By this time, we were hot and tired and ready for some pool time in Stormalong Bay. Time to catch a boat, catch a nap, then catch some time at Fort Wilderness with our friends. Stay tuned!

GREAT update Sooze! Love that you guys got to ride Toy Story Mania, isn't it the BEST!?!?!! That is funny about Tyson and the pins he doesn't want to trade, Luke has that problem too, but he has about 3 that are in constant rotation.
The lines looked like that for us for TSM too but luckily the line moved fast. It's so worth it! SCORE on the hidden Mickey, we've never seen that before, where was it?
How long did you wait to meet the buzz characters, that line was always SUPER long when we were there.

I got to ride TSM at Disneyland for the first time this past May for the Food and Wine Festival. It is addicting. Luckly they have a single rider line, so i rode it about 10 times while I was there (5 days).

Do you recall if there is a single rider line in FL and where is it at in the Studios?

It's on the wall just after you pass Mr. Potato Head and just before you pick up your 3D glasses. If you use a FP, you wouldn't be able to see it!

It took a good 30 minutes, but they have cute little displays set up so you can take pictures while you wait. They have a rocket you can strap you kid to (like Buzz was strapped on it in Toy Story), they have a crate you can 'get in' with a tool box on it, they have a Stinky Pete box, and lots of other photo ops to play with while you wait.

I got to ride TSM at Disneyland for the first time this past May for the Food and Wine Festival. It is addicting. Luckly they have a single rider line, so i rode it about 10 times while I was there (5 days).

10 times?!?! That is crazy, girl! I don't THINK there was a single rider line at DW, but I wasn't really looking. TSM is near the back lot tour. If you come in the main entrance, turn right like you're going to Playhouse Disney, then turn left in front of the VotLM. It's just beyond there.

Glad you're here!:flower3:

It was time for our afternoon break, so we made our way to the boat dock. The kids had lots of bonding moments on this trip, and I was able to catch this one on camera!

Enjoying the pins:

Close up of the cuteness:

We had a quick wait for the boat and a relaxing ride back 'home'. Next stop was Stormalong Bay. We were worried because SAB was supposed to be in rehab just before we arrived. They couldn't guarantee the opening date for us, so we just crossed our fingers and hoped we wouldn't have to be walking over to the Boardwalk for swimming. Luckily, it was completely open and we were able to enjoy our favorite pool!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030722.jpg

Of course, after having all of that fun, there's always the downer of having to tell Shaelyn it's "Time to go"... Naps are a-callin'!!

Just not ready to leave:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030723.jpg

But, as everyone knows, MOMMY KNOWS BEST! Here she is a few moments later after getting dried off and dressed:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030724.jpg

All together now..... "AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW":lovestruc

After resting and getting cleaned up a bit, we drove over to Fort Wilderness. Tonight was our night to hang out with Dean, Adrianna, and Abby at their campsite. We parked in the main parking area, and Dean came around and picked us up to drive us to their site. HOLY COW! I had NO IDEA how HUGE Ft. Wilderness is!!! And there were campers in every site. What a COOL atmosphere!!

Dean kept commenting on it being 'lower class' than our hoity-toity Beach Club, but we completely disagreed. Was it different? Uh.. yeaaahhh... but definitely not lower class. We had a nice dinner, then started to walk over to the Chip and Dale sing-along. On our way, we had a very funny happening:

We were walking along a gravel walkway, when a small child (probably 5 or 6) came running out of nowhere. When he saw us, he tried to stop, but skidded on the rocks and wiped out! Scraped up his knees and probably his hands. What did he do? Got up, smiled at us, and kept running on his way. Dean says, "I bet that would've played out differently if we were at the Beach Club..."

I said, "Oh yeah... first, the kid would've been bawling his eyes out, then the Nanny would've run over to make sure he was okay!"

Ok.. maybe you don't think it was funny, but it was one of the many Ft. Wilderness vs. Beach Club references/jokes that were made throughout the evening!!

We found some seats at the Chip and Dale singalong. Took a chance to get a family picture:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030725.jpg

Cowboy Mark took to the stage:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030726.jpg

Dean and Matt took this opportunity to become obnoxious little boys. They were whooping and hollering along with Cowboy Mark at every chance. Yelling "YAHOOOOOOO!!! COWBOYYYYY MAAAARRRRKKK!!!" Adrianna and I wanted to hide under the log benches, but the kids were just loving it, and no one around us seemed to mind so we went with it. (Might've been different at the Beach Club!;) )

We were able to gather around one of the several fire pits that were set up to get our S'mores made...ymmmmmmm. Then Chip and Dale came out to visit and sign autographs. Unfortunately, they never made it over to us, because it started to drizzle. Not rain. DRIZZLE. They pushed those furry creatures right back inside. As soon as they did, the drizzle stopped...but Chip and Dale never returned. :sad2:

We took that as a sign to start heading over to the beach so we could catch the water parade and Wishes. We stopped at the playground first to let the kids run wild!

WHEEEEEEEEE!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030727.jpg

This cracks me up!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030730.jpg

Ty's reaction to Chip and Dale ditching us! Just kidding, he was just being a boy!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030732.jpg

By this time, Victoria (our friend who was Snow White yesterday) joined us for the beach and fireworks. It was fun seeing her in her normal, young person mode... jeans and a hoodie, cell phone constantly in hand.. blonde hair. She was very sweet and the kids had no idea they had met her yesterday in a princess dress!

The kids had a ball digging and playing in the sand. Shaelyn was in heaven getting to watch the fireworks display and not being bothered a bit by its loud volume. The water parade was so quaint and nostalgic. Relaxing in the chairs on the beach with friends while all of the above was happening... AWESOME!

We had a wonderful day capped off by a wonderful night. Tomorrow was our princess breakfast. So we headed back to the Beach Club for a good night's sleep.

Ft. Wilderness is where we always stayed after mom got sick again (dad got a motorhome so they could travel since she was not allowed to fly). It was my favorite place on property to stay (assuming you get in the loops closest to the settlement) - Boardwalk villas run a close 2nd BTW. Even in my late 20's I was going to see Chip & Dale and make smores and every night if we were back I would watch the water pagent from the beach. I have such great memories.

That picture of Shae sleeping is so cute. Glad you got to enjoy TSM, what a fun ride.

Getting caught back up, sorry I was MIA. Great trip report as always. Loved Shae's reaction to having to leave but loved her cute nap on the couch anymore, awwwwwwwwww! So sorry about Chip and Dale not making an appearance, that stinks! But looks like you and the kids still had a great night. We enjoyed that playground on our night over there too.
How do you know the Snow White? Do you have a pic of her out of costume? Can't wait for the next update.

Hi! Sorry for the lack of real reply or comment, but I'm between vacation weeks and struggling to catch up on work! Had to do my TR catch-ups, too of course. ;)

You've sold me - we're definitely heading over to FW in Dec. Looks like fun!

It's all good! Trying to absorb your summer while updating your 18-day TR at LIGHTNING speed... I completely understand!

Dean was a band director in Texas and Snow White was in the dance ensemble there. We didn't get a picture of her out of costume... didn't even think of doing that... :headache:

It was a GORGEOUS morning. We were up and ready at lightning-speed because we were going to eat with the princesses today!!:banana:

I got Shae all ready in her Cinderella dress.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030733.jpg

She practiced doing her 'princess hands', just like Snow White taught her:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030734.jpg

We had a fabulous stroll through International Gateway. We savored every milli-second. I tried to take a few shots of Epcot on our way over to Norway. This is my favorite....

Doesn't it look like Rafiki is offering Simba to the Epcot Gods?!

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030735.jpg

This WOULD'VE been a good shot had I moved a foot to the left:headache::
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030737.jpg

My attempt to get the new signage along with SE:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030738.jpg

Matt and the kids, and not too many other folks. Love it!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030739.jpg

A view across the lagoon:

More signage:

Just another Epcot view:

Yay! We made it:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030745.jpg

We spent a few minutes browsing the souvies out front... but didn't have to wait long!

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030747.jpg

Now.. here is my only issue for this trip. Tyson suddenly became anti-princess. He was acting like a big poop about this breakfast. He refused to take any pictures or go anywhere near those beautiful women... what the heck?!!? So, I gave him a job. He got to be the videographer:thumbsup2
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030750.jpg

Just a side note: after our summer trip this July we realized that he was acting that way because of Abby. I think he just wanted to be 'cool'... because when we went just by ourselves in July, he was so sweet with the princesses for Shaelyn. That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it!!

Our first princess was Belle, who was in the picture area. Here is Shaelyn, anxiously awaiting her turn!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030752.jpg

And Belle leading her to the posing area:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030753.jpg

So, we were quickly seated at a table. The CM told us that we were right next to the door where the princesses entered the dining room, so we would be the first ones they would go to!! Here is Shae checking out that door...
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030755.jpg

We ate our normal Disney breakfast food... nothing too special here... and we noticed that Shae wasn't eating a thing. She just kept staring at the door asking when the princesses were coming. Well, after 20 minutes of anticipation, the poor little thing couldn't STAND it any more. She just started crying... wondering WHY those princesses hadn't shown up yet.:sad2:

Right on cue, Princess Aurora emerged from behind the special door. WHEW!!princess:

Here is Shae giving her a gigantic hug. Sleeping Beauty had made the world right again. You can see her red, tear-stained face!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030757.jpg

Then Shae asked if she could dance with Aurora. We sang the Sleeping Beauty waltz while they danced. It was precious!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030758.jpg

Just as Aurora was about to go, Shae needed one more hug. Aurora squatted down for the hug and Shae RAN into her arms.. so hard that it knocked her right on her bum! We apologized but the princess was very gracious and played right along. Shaelyn just loved her!!

Knocking her over:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030760.jpg

All is good:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030759.jpg

Next up was Cindy. She was much more stuffy. Probably because she is used to the proper gig in the Castle. But Shaelyn couldn't tell the difference!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030761.jpg

Hugs from the twin:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030763.jpg

All of the girls, yeah.. no Tyson:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030764.jpg

Next up was Snow White. She wasn't as perfect as OUR Snow White  but she did an AWESOME job with the voice. She sounded and giggled just like her!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030766.jpg

And then... ARIEL!! YAY! I would love to buy Shae an Ariel costume, but they just look so awkward! But Shae loved seeing her favorite red-headed princess!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030767.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030768.jpg

She was hysterical. Just talking and talking and blabbing and blabbing away. When she left, Dean said, "I bet Prince Eric just wants to shoot himself sometimes." :rotfl: (Of course, that was between adults only!)

The princesses came fast and furious. As we were getting ready to leave, we noticed that Sleeping Beauty had left a souvie on Shae's headband... a lipstick mark!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030772.jpg

It was a GREAT breakfast. We will be heading there again next Spring Break, for sure. The food was ... well, meh.... but the atmosphere and princess interaction were a TEN!

We all meandered over to Soarin' and then split up. Here are a few shots of the beautiful flowers along the way:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030776.jpg

Shae and I decided to do Living With the Land because, of course, there was no line! The rest of the clan went to do 'big kid' stuff. Here are a few highlights from our relaxing boat ride:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030781.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030799.jpg

We were both getting tired and decided to head back to BCV for a nap. On the way out, I broke down and bought Shae a light-up toy that I had been eying for several nights. It was a Sleeping Beauty whose skirt spun around and lit up. After we had such a great experience with her earlier that morning, I thought it fit to buy it!! It really was a good purchase!

Well, this face just about says it all:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030809.jpg

Tyson and I happily walked to the bus stop in some light rain, and waited for an Animal Kingdom bus to whisk us away to the land of Expedition Everest.. only the greatest ride EVER. And we waited...

and waited...

and waited..

saw THREE of these go by:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030808.jpg

and waited some more...

45 full minutes went by until our bus showed up. It was VEEERRRYYY hard for me to keep cheerful, but I had to be strong for the boy.. you know how it is...

We finally made it to AK:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030810.jpg

I don't remember WHY Tyson was wearing that heavy sweatshirt. I do remember asking him if he wanted to take it off, and he said no. Maybe the wet air?:confused3

We made our way over to the reason we came:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030813.jpg

The stand by line was actually very decent, so we hopped on in:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Spring%20Break/P1030834.jpg

We rode it at least two times, then decided to ride another ride that Daddy can't do: PRIMEVAL HURL!! WEEE HOOO!! I love this ride, simply because it's unique... not too many roller coasters do what this does!

Ok, enough of THAT!

Our afternoon together was nice... just me and my boy and some fun Animal Kingdom rides! Next stop was Epcot, where we were going to meet back up with Matt and Shae for Illuminations.

This evening requires a bit of background story, so here we go:

I am an elementary teacher, and this spring break, I was teaching 3rd grade. I had the MOST AMAZING CLASS ever!!! Wonderful, respectful, bright kids, and (even better), supportive, understanding, on-the-ball parents!! You just don't come across a class like this every millennia! I like them so much that I looped with them to 4th grade this year, and have them all again!:yay:

Anyway.. my kids know how much I adore Disney, and I talk about it all the time with them. One of my students and his family was going to Disney during spring break, and he was so excited to know that we'd be there at the same time. His mom volunteered in my class once a week, so we exchanged phone numbers and hoped that we could meet up at some point in the trip. Well, we had been there for several days, and every time we called each other, we were in different parks. The ONE DAY we didn't call, we were actually in the same place.:headache: So tonight was their last night in Disney, and we were going to make it happen! I told them we'd be at Illuminations, and they decided they would be, too!

The best part of the evening was when they came around the corner of the lagoon by Norway, and he saw me for the first time. I was expecting him to come running over to me with his normal big hugs. Nope.. he was so weirded out by the situation, that he just looked at me like I was an alien... Stich, maybe? We all laughed about it.. it was just so bizarre to see each other so far away from our normal classroom!

Here we are.. he's such a cutie!!

They had quite a large group with them, so we let all of the kids hang out together:

You can see my student next to Tyson, and his twin brother next to him.

It was a very cool experience, as crazy as it was for both of us!!

A fun way to end a fun night! We had another heavenly stroll back to our resort (I felt bad for my student and his family, knowing they had to battle the buses back to their resort!) We went straight to bed. Shaelyn and I had a date with MK EMH... and a REAAAALLLLYYYY LLLLOOOONNNNGGG LLLIIINNNEE to see Tinkerbell.

how great you could meet up with your student and family
i teach preschool and when a student sees me outside of work it's like they look as if the space time continuum has been ripped- you can't be here in the store with your own kids- you are my teacher! ;)
