Well, here I am guarded with hot chocolate and a shovel. We are expecting anywhere between 6-14 inches of snow by tomorrow night. I am anxiously awaiting a phone call letting me know that we have a snow day tomorrow. Anybody else out there just waiting for it to begin?

Another from MA here. Went Food Shopping this afternoon and it was a zoo. My husband is a teacher and he is wondering if school will be cancelled.

We are expecting six - ten inches of heavy snow overnight and through Monday. Followed by ice.
My partner works at college, he is pretty sure school will be closed.
I work at a municipal library in a town that never closes, so I will be making my way through the snow. And we will get all the kids that aren't in school in to use the computers!

We're in MD - it could go either way for us. We could get nothing or we could get 6 inches. The girls would love to have the day off school tomorrow and do some sledding!

Waiting here in PA as well. I hope we get a ton or none! I hate those little storms where you are not stuck in and have to goout anyway after shoveling and clearing the cars. DD wants another day off from preschool!

Ugh, here in Mass it it almost certain that we will not have school tomorrow. It will officially put the nail in the coffin that is when my vacation is suppose to start. Not to mention I had 30 guest coming tomorrow for Dr. Seuss's birthday.....
UGH!!

Yup, waiting on the 10-15" promised by the crack weather team. I dropped my fiancee off with friends and bought them a hotel room for the night since they have their last exam tomorrow before they start clinical rotations. This way they're 3 miles instead of 30 miles away.
I, on the other hand, will be getting up freakishly early tomorrow morning (I didn't know there was a 4AM) to beat the commuting disaster (54mi to work). I don't bother to call the plant closure line anymore. They never do cancel. Why even think it's possible...
Happy shoveling,

It just started snowing here in NC! We are supposed to get 3 - 5" which is nothing for y'all up north. But down here, it will be enough to shut us down.
Stay safe and warm everyone!!

They closed my district for tomorrow and we are anxiously awaiting to hear if they will close DBF's district. SNOW DAY!!!

I haven't heard anything yet from our district. I am assuming we are going to be closed, but can't figure out why the decision has not been made yet. It has been snowing since 7 here and is coming down like crazy already! I feel so badly for everyone with special activities planned for Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss' birthday.
I am in Central NJ too, btw!

Is this where I jump in and say it will be a chilly 62 here in North Texas tomorrow?
Hope everyone stays warm and safe!

We did some of our Dr. Seuss activities on Fri and this coming Fri we are doing a pajama party Dr. Seuss activity. But I agree about having those activities planned. I am sure they will be rescheduled though.
Nikki - 1010wins.com has ALL of the school district closings for NY and NJ listed on their website alphabetically. Maybe your district is listed on their??

In central MA here and it is starting up. Expecting 10-14 inches. Our school hasn't cancelled yet but I am certain they will. With this snow day (our 9th of the year, darn December ice storm), my kids will be going through June 25th.

Ma on SS. Drove into Boston at midnight, it was icky and scary! :( It takes 4 higways to get in and there where big plows everywhere SANDING. There were no "lines in the snow" to follow, hate that on a dark highway! It took me 1 1/2 hrs, the norm is 45 mins. Now I get to deal with it going home too, at 8am :( I HATE THE SNOW!!

Took the yard stick outside it said nearly 10 inches with 4 more to come today. I hope everyone is hangingin there. I have to go shovel off part of the deck so my doggies can go out. I really dont like this.:headache: I should be living in FL right now.:cool2:

We have about 8 oustide of Annapolis and it's still snowing (our dogs legs are about 7 3/4" so they're a bit confused!). The kids went out around 8:30 to go sledding. Given how this area deals w/ snow, it might be a while before they go back to school.

Well, just checking in again! :) I got the phone call at 4:30 this morning that school was closed and am beginning to wonder about tomorrow. We have about 5-6 inches here already and expect a total of 12 by tonight. The temp is below 30 right now and is dropping. Stay safe everybody! Oh, and Pete, don't even think about saying that it's "cold" by you in FL!!! ;)

We have about 7 here and it's still coming. All of the schools in Phila and suburbs are closed. My office did open and I'm here but there aren't many of us here- it's like a ghost town.

No way. It took me an hour to clear the deck so the doggies could potty. I have like 7 inches out front and 12 inches out back it is really drifting. I hate snow.

Just about everything around here is closed. But, not my job!!
Like dixiegirl, though, it's pretty much a ghost town - a lot of us didn't make it in. Everything is pretty messy out there - a car just drove into the dumpster right outside one of our offices. :scared1:
They offered to buy our lunch today, the big-hearted souls! :rotfl: I'll pass, and will probably try to hit the road around 12:30...we'll see...
I HATE WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Greg, he doesn't read. But I would still write it if he did. He knows I'm mad. I mean is it really worth it? Take a vacation day for goodness sake! He is getting an earful tonight.

I'm in South Jersey. Not sure of the snow total but I HAD to go to work today. And the roads are terrible. My kids are home from school. And I'm just sitting here with not much to do. I really can't make any phone calls (I'm in sales) because no one else is working today.
So I'm just surfing the DIS killing time. Oh well. At least it is almost lunch time.

I had to fly from Albuquerque to Denver to Atlanta yesterday. The world is nuts when it's beautiful and sunny in Denver and snowing in Atlanta. Our flight was delayed several hours but we finally got back home. Then we had to drive about 45 minutes to get home where thankfully school was cancelled so we had the day off! Woo hoo! :)

yay!! a snow day!!!!
It didn't arrive till around 10. When we got up this morning the plows had done their job and we were thinking of trying to go to work (60 miles away - east). But we had no cable, no tv, and our only radio stations play Pennsylvania news and weather so we didn't know how it was back east. Then, the snow started again (YES!!!). and we stayed home (:
