Good Sunday Warriors...
First miles posted of the Month. Sorry it's only 6, but I'll have more after the Princess next week!!
DId a good 10 min stretching afterwards.
We are currently under a thunderstorm warning here waiting for the bottom part of the comma of all the yuckiness that is happening around GA and AL.

My feet have been hurting a lot since my run and wii fit yesterday. I've been icing them and staying off of them since it's my one day off. I will probably do some yoga in a few hours and hopefully will be good as new for my run tomorrow.
Happy March, Warriors!

13.5 miles for me, 1:57:47.
We had to alter our start location due to the Straub Women's 10K race running part of the Honolulu Marathon Course, which we normally run. Saw the women going up the back of Diamond Head Crater Road for a short bit.

Hey Tracy- call me 63 miles, 10 hours and 30 minutes running and at least 4 wii fit hours for February.
I'm wallowing in self pity with a cold before the princess... On the bright side, I should be better by weekend!

hey hey. great thread name Tracy!
Jeff your run looks awesome, even if you did have a slightly 'unique' scent afterwards ;)
I'm really disappointed with myself today. was due to do 6 miles in last prep for princess this morning.... can you tell this isn't going to go well :rotfl: Well my ipod has died, i got the backing music but no singing or main melody. Great timing hey- off to get a new one tomorrow! My laces which never normally undo made me stop three times in 3 miles and my legs felt super heavy (probably should have expected that). I stopped after 3.1miles of hard slog and hope to go back out tomorrow and get those 6 done. On the other hand it's like that bad driving lesson you have immediately before the test, hopefully that's got all the bad stuff out now :worship:
Have a great week warriors

Kate: Sorry to hear about the untimely death of you iPod. :lmao: That is the strangest way to go that I've ever heard for one, though; usually they just die quietly, like refusing to turn on.
I also had a rather terrible 6 mile run, today. In fact, it took me 1:29 to finish 6 miles, it was so terrible. It was a bit overcast but warm and humid when I started, so I just wore a short-sleeved tee and my running capris out. Of course, half way in, the sky suddenly opened up and the wind picks up and I am then running in a downpour. I have to pass over two draw bridges during my run and both of them started going up as I got to them (which involves an around 5 minute wait at each), my dog had to stop THREE TIMES to poop, and then around mile 5 he suddenly darted off the path and threw up in the bushes. Poor dear. He scarfed some leftovers that my fiance left on the counter when we went out last night, so I'm guessing that that's the culprit, and he seemed fine afterwards, but I felt too sorry for him to run the rest of the way and walked the last mile.
And I wonder why races are always such a surprise when I run so much faster than I have been running in my training! :confused3 :lmao:
Happy March, Warriors! It's almost spring!

Hey Warriors!
My total for February: 76.55 miles - 16:27:35
And I started March off with a bang! 12 miles in 2:37 this morning in the pouring rain! I was soaked before we had even gone 2 miles!
Hey Kate - did you try the ole iPod reset trick? You hold down the top of the click wheel and the center button at the same time until the screen goes dark and the little apple pops up. You can then let go and let it reboot itself.:thumbsup2

hey warriors,
working on a 1/2 marathon report, but it went well. 13.35 miles in about 2:50 according to garmin. not sure where the extra quarter mile came from as most of the course was straight and not much room to stray off course. a few minutes off from a PR, but WAY better than disney this year time wise. weather was insane. rain, wind, cold temps.
I've put double miles/time into the march spreadsheet!

Happy March Warriors! Rest day here so I'm not planning on doing anything unless that WiiFit jumps out at me later tonight.
Happy training all.
Sorry to hear of the Ipod demise.
Yuck on running in the rain. Beats the slippery snow as long as there is no lightening though.

:stitch: 'Ohana's Monday Mixer :stitch:
We had so much fun with last week’s Monday Mixer, ‘Ohana is doing it again tomorrow! Come early, stay late, visit on any day of the week. No need to stick to the topic, either. We’re just happy to hear from our cousins and swap a tale or two over some tasty beverages. :drinking1
Tomorrow, we’re curious to find out how you pass the time on long walks/wogs/runs if you don’t listen to music and are training solo. (Or what you do in addition to/as an alternative to listening to music.) What makes the long miles less daunting and maybe even enjoyable? What do you watch for, think about, concentrate on? From the serious to silly to the surreal, we want to hear your stories.
Me, I’m pretty sure I hallucinate, but the rest of you probably have better strategies...
Hope to see you on the ‘Ohana thread. The mixer posts for this week start here (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30576508&postcount=324).
Hey Warriors hope everyone had a good weekend. I hope everyone has a great march. Reporting for febuary mileage=109.4 time= 17:32. Take care everyone!!!:)

No running to report, but feeling slightly less like I have a cold (although I'd rather whatever this is be a cold so it would have an actual end date!)
Kate- wanted to help with your iPod frustration. If the reset or restore doesn't work, try turning off your computer and unplugging all your components (keyboard, monitor, etc). Turn it back on and plug everything in. Then plug in your iPod and hope for the best. I read that on some unofficial site- it worked for me although I don't understand why... ;)
Looks like everyone has been moving in February!! :woohoo:

Thanks for all the ipod advice everyone- he has unfortunately gone and i waved a sad goodbye to him earlier tonight! I tried most of the tricks straight away but did have a go at rebooting him. No luck so i toddled out today and purchased his beautiful purple replacement. Putting my songs on as i type- it feels a bit like ive betrayed my old one :rotfl: Man i need to stop getting so attached to random material things!
amy great to hear your half went well. I'll be on the look out for your report.
Marcie you can def do it alone, not that you'd be alone anyway with this merry lot there to keep you company!
Roxy awesome mileage for feb- you've done so well
Kat ahh the acrobatics again- feeling a little bit green!
Michelle what an amazing start to the month and after such a great feb total too.

Hey Warriors! Nothing to report running/exercise-ish but I got some amazing news tonight!
Back in December I had auditioned for the shows for the spring semester at WVU Theatre. (aka- the people who own my life...) Anyway- I did not get any parts. I was totally bummed because one of the shows was a musical. Well the director had me call him tonight and he offered me a part in the show!!!! He said that some people couldn't fit it into their schedules so if I wanted the part it was mine! Well, of course I said yes!!! I'm so excited and couldn't wait to share with you all!
I picked a good time to start running, too. The show we're doing (Urinetown: the Musical) is going to be a huge workout- so the running to build stamina will do me some good! And I'm going to have lots of hours of rehearsal to use for the team!!! Well thanks for listening lol Have a great day tomorrow Warriors!!!
Cograts on getting to do a musical Katrina. Enjoy and have fun!!!:)

Sorry about the stonker, Kate. But don't sweat it. You will have a great princess run! Just think of that tiara medal!
Jen--hope you are on the mend. Sick is not fun.
Katrina--way to go on the musical! Have fun with it!
As for me, I did 9 miles on the bike today followed by a 2.5 mile run. The run was intentionally short as my tri is only 6 days away. :scared1: I did speed work today and it went really well. For those 2.5 miles, I averaged a 9:27 pace, which is super speedy for me. :rotfl2:
Tha hammie is still not all the way healed, but it should hold me for the tri.
GREAT JOB WARRIORS!

I caught a small dose of Panda flu, so I took the day off to rest. 4,000 miles away from Dave, and I still get sick. http://www.disneyrunning.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif
Around lunchtime, I headed out to run 2 quick errands. The second one took me to the post office at the airport. As I was leaving, I look to my left for this other car to merge. And I noticed this bright yellow Honolulu Marathon finisher's shirt on the driver. It was Marcia!!! LOL, she was killing time waiting for her other friends to get their rental car, so she could show them the way to Waikiki. I talked to her for a few seconds, and then told her to meet me at my house.
Well, about 2 hours later, she has arrived at our house for the week. She's in town to watch her friend's daughter play in a NCAA women's softball tournament all week. The girl plays right field for Oregon State, and is a starting freshman, and bats first in the line up. Impressive.
Marcia brought her running shoes, so I'll hopefully be taking her for some scenic runs Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday (the Honolulu Marathon Clinic starts back up).

 Didn't get any training done today. I see we are quite a busy and chatty group. Good to read about everyone.
Jen, get well.
Jeff, get well,
Ken, good job on the miles and the weight loss. You are doing great!
Marcie, you can definitely do that event solo. There are always lots of folks willing to chat along the way. If you post trainig with some of the group going, you may exchange phone numbers and even get to meet up extra with some. It is alway an opportunity to get to bond with some of the WISH Team.
Katrina, congrats on the part in the musical. Enjoy the experience.
Jeff, that is such a fun thing to be running with Marcia in your home locale. Jealous I am.

Hi Warriors!
We were little chatterbugs over at Team 'Ohana's turf, weren't we? It's a wonder that we got anything done! :lmao:
Today was my cross-training day, so just 40 minutes on the recumbent bike for me.
Unrelated to running, but totally related to Disney, I also took the first step towards canceling my great big wedding of doom on the other side of the continent (where most of our family lives) this summer, and emailed the Celebration Hotel about the prospect of holding a small (20ish close friends and family) wedding there in late June/early July. I've always wanted to get married in WDW, which is pretty much the only place that my fiance has vetoed. It turns out that he's ok with Celebration, however, and it means that we could spend a day running around the MK with our bride and groom mouse ears before heading to the beach for a few days of honeymoon. I don't know if they have any availability (but heck, I'm willing to get married on a Wednesday afternoon!) or if I'll even find the nerve to cancel the wedding (and lose all our deposits that we've paid so far), but I'm more excited at the idea of a tiny Disney wedding, than I have ever been about the great big distant monstrosity. I'm pixie dusting myself on this one! :wizard:

Last night my friend and I went shopping and ended up at Hobby Lobby. I bought a memo board (in leopard print because I'm wild like that) :lmao: I am going to hang it over my treadmill and use it as a vision board. I am going to print out a picture of the ToT medal and some other inspirational things too look at when I run. Anyway, while we were there my friend found these little wooden words in the clearance Christmas department. They had wish. She bought it for me for .39. I'm going to hang it on my board.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

My race report! I am still sore and didn't do anything yesterday, but will do some pilates today. On a disappointing note, I did not get that job I interviewed for. So I am in a bit of a funk. BUT, MIL is coming down this week and is taking us to WDW for a couple days this weekend!! I am a bit sad to not be doing the princess, but I am so sore now, I don't know if I could have done it anyhow.
The race went well. really well. Hydration/fuel were perfect this time round. I was totally on pace for about 12 minute miles through about mile 7. NO shin pain. THEN, the skies opened up. OMG.:scared1: We were facing about 20+ MPH crosswinds and headwinds and wind driven rain. :scared1: :scared1: The wind was never at our backs, even when we switched directions, which happened a few times. It was in the mid 60's to start the race, which was fine, but the rain was COLD. So, I fell off my pace at this point. I was having to work like twice as hard to keep my pace where I wanted to be and was literally blown sideways a few times. So I walked more at this point. I ended up finishing in about 2:50 ish, 13.35 miles. (according to garmin), no PR, but WAY better than disney and just a few minutes off my november half.
I was so grateful for the mylar blanket at the finish. I truly was chilled to the bone. You all are free to laugh at me, but I really was cold. It was about 50 degrees with cold rain at the end. I did enjoy the food from my fave Cuban restaurant. free beer truck was closed. I only wanted hot coffee anyhow. I was worried about the full people finishing in 4+hours because alot of the food people were closing up shop due to the downpours.
2 Complaints:
1. They ran out of 1/2 marathon medals. If you finished the 1/2 in more than 2 hours you didn't get one. Well, you got a fake one and they will send you the real one in a week or two. Apparently what happened was they registered too many people and also once the weather turned craptastic alot of the full marathoners turned off at the half marathon turnaround to the finish. I think those people should have gotten the fake medals. The bibs were different for the 1/2 and full so it would have been easy to separate them, Anyhow, no real biggie for me, but slightly disappointing. I just wanted to get warm at this point.
2. I did have gatorade thrown in my face. Not on purpose of course, but OMG. it was abut mile 3.5 and we were starting to run into the wind a bit and this guy just tosses his half full gatorade cup over his shoulder without looking. The wind blew it right into my eyes. which stung. Again, no big deal but look before you throw and throw low!!! And he saw what he had done and kind of just shrugged his shoulders. Whatever.

We finished in about 44 minutes. I had high hopes for a sub 40 with the stroller, but it was so crowded. I think they should have given the walkers w/o strollers a 15 minute head start. Which would have left plenty of space for people who wanted to jog with strollers. I was cruising easily at a 10-11 minute/miles pace when I could find space to run. Anyhow, it was fun. I was going to let Delena walk/run/toddle the last half mile, but she fell asleep!

Amy- great race report! Wow- crazy conditions! The medal thing stinks. It sounds totally reasonable to me that the people who switched from the full to the half should get the delayed gratification medal. Too bad the organizers didn't think of it. But, the 5k medal is pretty sweet, so maybe the 1/2 one will be worth it! So, did the rain at least wash the Gatorade out of your eyes?!;)
Love your pictures. Your daughter is too cute!
As for me, not doing much. Normally I'd run today, but still kind of sneezy and don't want to get worse before the Princess. Let's just say I'll be going into it undertrained... :rolleyes1

AMY--such a rock star!
Back from my workout. TIRED! I did the whole tri today. It wasn't my planned workout, but that is how it rolls sometimes. I am SO fatigued. And I held back. I didn't swim, bike or run my fastest. I just wanted to do the course slow and easy. But I can't get over how tired I am. And I want to eat everything in sight. Everything. I ate high protein after I was done...and I am still just ravenous.
Ok, back to work and the real world.

I put in 8 miles in 76 minutes today.
i hung around the house all day waiting for it to warm up, but the temp never got above 50 w/20 mph winds.
I finally decided around 4 pm that it was "get going or sit back & be a lazy slug" time. Fortunately ambition won out.
This time..................
Now I have to convince myself to get out on the bike tomorrow morning before the winds kick up. Last week I was POSITIVE winter was over.

Great job getting out there Jim! I love running in the rain, but I totally bailed last night. This storm is a lot colder than what we normally get and I just couldn't convince myself that 5 miles soaking wet in the cold was a good idea. The 13 miler on Sunday in the rain was fun because it was warm.
But I did go to the gym. There is no way I could keep myself on a treadmill for 5 miles, so I only did 2.5 on the treadmill and then did the last 2.5 on the crossramp. So at least I got my miles in!
I wish I was headed to WDW to be a princess with you Warriors! Have a great time!!!

Hey Warriors:
I'm having a bit of a truncated week, as I'm heading to Toronto tomorrow until Sunday, to try to get some wedding stuff done (or just to give it the finger and cancel it all). I did get 3 miles of speedwork in today - I upped my marathon finish time goal, which means that my intervals are now down to an 8 minute mile.... which is pretty fast when you're 5'2"! :rotfl2: It felt like a good workout! But, the next few days are going to be CRAZY, so there will be no running happening. Luckily, I planned it that this would be a light week, anyway.
Well, I'm off to bed so that I can get up in less than 6 hours (at 4:30) to go to the airport. Have a great weekend, Warriors, and good luck to everyone running races this weekend!

Yay! Tracy. Glad you made it there. Great door decoration. I love it!
Go Warrior Princesses! Have a great time.
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood here. I took Kirby dog for his 2 mile walk. He and I went a bit faster than we have been and he seemed to hold up well. Then I got DH and took him to PT. While he was having his session I did not go in with him this time. I went outside on the path and did 3 miles in the wonderful weather. I loved being out in it even if it was a bit windy.
I'll probably play with something else tonight. Tomorrow is annual physical.Oh joy.

Love the door decorations! Have a fun time at WDW and I hope you PR!
Checking in while I'm on vacation....Today I missed Jeff at the park and had to run by myself, but we ended up meeting up after his run and going to dinner with another friend of ours.
I ran for about 45 minutes around the beach park..Jeff will probably post some pictures...until I saw a few friends walking the opposite way, so i turned around and started walking with them. All together I was out there for 1 hour. I'm not sure how many miles I ran, as I didn't have my garmin or my ipod with me today.

I did a slow jog of 7 miles with a friend who runs, well SLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Got the miles in, that's all that counts today.
Notice how empty Hale Koa Beach is. Overcast, windy, and drizzling.

Marcia did a short jog on her own, and met up with me at the end of my run.

Oh, Jeff you're making me jealous haha
I can't complain too much though- it's actually nice here today!!! I got to walk/jog outside! It's 65 right now. It's a heat wave! I'm not sure of my mileage yet, I've got to figure it out- i didn't really follow roads. But I did a 25 minute workout. Good for today since I didn't do anything else this week. This musical is wearing me out already- and we haven't done much yet! Anyway- best of luck to all our Warrior Princesses this weekend!

GOOD LUCK PRINCESS RUNNERS!
As for me, I am off to my TRI! Race report to follow!
3DisneyKids
03-08-2009, 10:49 AM
I'M BACK!
I will give a full race report later, but I am done, I finished and I feel pretty good!
I ROCKED, and I mean ROCKED the swim! I was second out of the water and the first female out.
My transition from the swim to the bike was GREAT. First on the bike.
The ride was solid. I felt good about it. Not sure about my time yet, but pace seemed to be just under 20mph or so. Maybe 18 - 20?
The transition to the run SUCKED because a DUMB A$$ man elbowed me on the way to the start and I landed on my a$$. And I was really pissed. And it really rattled me. My run was, funny enough, my worst leg. I really wanted to run hard and fast, but I was out of breath. My legs had plenty of energy, but I just could not get enough air in. So my pace was a dismal 10:20.
Still, I am pleased overall for my first tri!
Oh, and by the way, I WON MY WAVE. First place for women in my wave! :lmao: For overall age group results, I have to wait a few hours and call in.
Pics and full race report coming, but THANKS for the support!

MY FIRST SUB 3 HOURS and I even had to stop for a potty break that I really didn't want to do, but nature called.

Popping in quickly with a shout-out from one of your 'Ohana cousins to my Warriors! :thumbsup2 I know I won't catch everyone, but here's a quickie:
Michelle: Good luck on your upcoming 1/2! I see you're still training like a racing fiend.
Sarah_Rose: Sounds like you're busy, busy, busy with wedding plans and on the run a lot. And your running plans sound pretty speedy, too. :rotfl2:
Marci: FWIW, I work out on all my vacations, even it it's only some light strength training or cardio. I tend not to workout as hard or as long, though. I find cardio and some strength training gives me more energy and helps me sleep better in strange beds. And that's even true for me at Disney. I feel better touring the parks after a short run--even though one can walk a lot there.
Tracy: I just knew you'd PR this race. You've been walking on air for days! You go, girl! Just imagine how fast you were going without the potty break. (Of course, nature calling probably added to your speed at one point. :lmao:)
Lily: I'm so glad you've been able to get out and enjoy the weather, especially with Kirby. How is DH recuperating--it sounds like he's doing fine.
Kat: Congratulations on gettingt cast in a show (can't remember which one). Good professional practice, good workouts. There isn't any downside!
Marcia: I know you're having a great time with Jeff. Be sure to keep him out of trouble. On second thought, I think he should have to keep you out of trouble. It's always the quiet ones....
Jeff: Read what I said to Marcia...I don't trust her. She's a sly one. She's probably trying to kidnap Sawyer or Jack Shepard.
JimB: Thanks for doing your fabulous medic gig at the Princess Half. I know you took good care of everyone. Hopefully the good karma will help you avoid any more flat tires. (Grrrrrr....)
Erika: Great job on your first--can't believe it's your first--tri. I'm eagerly awaiting details and pics! Woot woot for winning your wave. Talk about your bragging rights....
Carrie: I know you did you Mulan thing at the 1/2. (See how I avoid the "P" word.) Looking forward to the RR!

Ok, time for the full race report complete with pictures!
I was nervous about waking up on time, what with the time change and all. We have those Smart Clocks that are supposed to just automatically change, so that made me nervous and I ended up waking up early. It was ok. Just got up, got dressed, made tea and double checked my bag to make sure everything was in place and ready to go. Had some water and oatmeal for breakfast and was on my way. It was still dark outside. WHY am I doing this? Insane.
Got there and the parking lots was CROWDED, which surprised me since there are so many waves and thus lots of start times and I was one of the earliest. Went in, got my t-shirt (wicked ugly. BOO!) and got marked. Now, this should have been easy, but this event was really poorly organized. I went over and gave them my name, and the woman said, “I already have you checked in. You should be number 271 (wave 2, lane 7, swimmer 1 in that lane), but I already wrote 271 on someone else. Hmmm. Ok. Well, I shouldn’t care, really, but if she is really super slow, then I don’t want her times being posted to my name! She went and tracked the other woman down, re-marked her, and gave me the right number, etc.
Off to the locker room. It was a ZOO in there. Since the swim was indoors, the transition area was indoors. And people had their transition spots set up EVERYWHERE. Some in the pool area, some in the locker room, some in the hallway, etc.
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/3DisneyKids/005.jpg
I found a prime spot in the locker room and snagged it. Got everything all organized and laid out. Now I just had to wait for my wave time.
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/3DisneyKids/002.jpg
I went into the pool area to check things out and see how the first wave was doing. Yikes! These people are scary. Like 5% body fat and just ripped. They look like Jillian Michaels. These are not my people. 5 minutes before it is time for my wave to start, one of the race officials calls us over for details, etc. I am nervous, but not horribly so. Everyone in my wave looks like me. Mostly fit, but not super cut and with just a few pounds to lose. No one was super fit like the first wave people.
At one minute before our start time, we get in the water and wait. I go to my goggles on, and the strap pulls my bathing cap off. CRAP! I fumble around like crazy and get everything on and in place before the start. Phew.
I am off and swimming and feeling good already! This is a good sign. It has been taking me a while to warm up in the swim. But wonderfully, I hit my stride early and just kept with it. Something that never happened in any of my training swims. But something was wrong. My goggles are digging into the bridge of my nose. It is not horrible, but somewhat uncomfortable. I finally realize that I must have put my goggles on upside down (!) during the fumble to get everything back on before the start.
While swimming, I am keeping my eye on the clock. It seems to be moving quickly. I decided before I even began that I would not count my laps. That is what the volunteers are for. I would just do my swim and get out when they told me I was done. And that happened quickly, yes! I knew I had done well when getting out of the pool, but I was looking around as I was heading to the transition, and everyone else was still in the water. WTH?? OMG, I was SECOND out. Second. And the first one out was male, so I was the first female out of the water.
Transition one. I was breathing HARD after the swim. Really hard. It surprised me. I had all of my stuff well laid out and in an easy to get to spot. I kept a big towel in the pool area and the small towel in the transition area. I dried off with the big towel as I was walking (running not allowed in the transition zone) to my transition spot. Got there, threw my Wish shirt on over my tri suit, socks, and sneakers. Grabbed my iPod and water bottle and was on the bike in no time. (All other gear was with the bike.) In fact, I was the FIRST one on the bike! Total transition time = 1:17!
I can’t comment too much on the bike. It was as expected with no surprised and nothing eventful. And I guess that is a good thing.
Coming off the bike and onto the run was another story. I was off in a flash and jogging over to the run area and this A$$WIPE comes flying past me, elbows me in the ribs, and knocked me flat on my a$$! WT F?!?! It really rattled me. Not to mention cost me some time. T2 = :35
The run. Well, I was tired. Sucking wind, actually. Not sure why. The bike was pretty good recovery, but I was still winded. From the swim? From being knocked on my a$$? Not sure. I started out fairly slow (10:35 pace) and planned to do that just for 2-3 minutes to get into my groove and then get up to race pace. But man, I was breathing hard. So I kept that pace for a while. At about the half way point, I bumped it up to a 10:10 pace. Maintained that for a while and then got a cramp! WTH? I never cramp when I run. Lack of oxygen I am guessing. So I had to downshift again for a couple of minutes. On a positive note, I was able to finish the last half mile pretty well, at a 9:30 pace (which was supposed to be my race pace). Overall time was at a 10:20 pace. Not horrible, but not what I had hoped.
Hit the finishers’ area and was happy to be done. Stretched. Drank water. And after about 20 minutes, the elation sunk in! I completed a TRI! And I made a decent showing, especially considering it was my first one!
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/3DisneyKids/003.jpg
Later I found that I won my wave (for women). So I got a bonus medal! Two medals! YES! Sadly, the a$$ who elbowed me into the run won the wave for the men.
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/3DisneyKids/tricropped3.jpg
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/3DisneyKids/033.jpg
Thanks so much to everyone who supported me, gave advice, answered my many questions, and was just all around supportive! I never would have made it to the starting line without you!
After I was done, I got to go support my mom, who did this with me. She turns 70 this year! Is she a rock star or what? I can only hope to be doing tris when I am 70! She rocked her swim as well and was FIRST out of the water. Her wave was 50+, but still, she was by far the oldest and by far the fastest! She is neither a biker nor a runner, though. So she took her time on the bike, and walked the last leg at her 14:30 pace. I am so proud to be her daughter!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:
Mental Health Day
We all know that our mental-health days are just as important as our workouts, recovery days, and proper fueling. So, Monday's question for the 'Ohana mixer, which starts here (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30706712&postcount=405) on the team thread, is....
If you had an unexpected free day--no work or other obligations--and $20 to spend just on you, what would you do?
So please share those small indulgences that are essential to your mental well-being. Hopefully, we'll get new ideas and find kindred souls.
There are three little rules. Just because.
You have to spend at least part of the $20 on you. No giving it away, no saving it for a rainy day, and no spending the $20 entirely on your beloved partner, cute kidlets, or BFF. You can spend time with these folks, of course, and some of the money. But the focus is on YOU and what you want to do.
You can choose to work out, if you wish, or your mental health day can coincide with a recovery day.
What you do on your mental health day has to reflect your everyday, local life. No "I just happened to be in Paris..." :rotfl2: You can imagine, however, that you have perfect weather.
As usual, full stories that are related to your mental-health day are welcome. Not to mention the odd digression! And you're always welcome to bring drinks, goodies, and profound thoughts on the meaning of life.

Hey Warriors!
I had a great time at the Princess although I didn't get to see my Warriors. After totally oversleeping (my phone's alarm was on vibrate!), I picked up Becky (Lexxiefern) at her hotel and we drove over. By the time we'd parked, people were already heading towards the corrals so we never even made it into the main area. Plus, I was highly distracted by my tiara (which ended up staying on my head just fine). We were trying to break Becky's PR of 2:23. (I didn't tell her my longest run in months was 6 miles ;) ). Even with a bathroom break and some picture breaks, we finished in 2:21!
And as a very last minute addition, I'll be doing the Jacksonville 15k this weekend. We are going to have dinner with one of Ted's friends and his wife and baby. Then the guys are watching the kids the next day while the wives are running. Since the guys actually came up with this plan, I don't know if Melissa expects me to run with her. I'm guessing that since she's literally an Ironman, I'm not going to be keeping up with her unless she takes this one slow... Maybe I'll spot Jim at the start!:thumbsup2
So my plan is working- I'm slack about overall miles, but I'm racking up the double point races for the Warriors!;)

Hi Warriors!
Between a very hectic trip east over the weekend, and then coming down with a cold early in the week, I haven't been getting nearly in nearly the mileage that I would want. I called in sick for work yesterday and then, after sleeping most of the morning, decided to do 3.3 miles on the treadmill. Backwards, I know. But today, though I felt better than when I woke up yesterday, I went to work and now can't even muster up the energy to go for a short run. Oh well, hopefully with another day of rest I'll be ok for my weekend runs. Just no one tell my boss about me running on my sick day! :lmao:

Hope all the Warriors are doing well with there times and miles and everyone is feeling good! If not I will send some Pixie Dust your way!

How did the races go Jim, Erika and Michelle!!!
Yeah, double miles for you guys and the team!!
I was thinking about doing 5-6 miles today, but ended up with 6.20 miles!! Just for my fav team I decided to add the .20!!
Hope all is going well with everyone..
Looks that we have all the time and miles for February because I never heard from Barb (1/2marathonpixie) or PrincessShea. Not sure if they just disappeared or what - I tried to PM them but never heard anything.
SO, my teammates - keep up the good work and the races!! We are doing aweseomely!!!:woohoo:

Back from the race and it went well. This was a family affair, as I ran with my husband and my 8 year old daughter (her first ever!). I can't really say that I ran "with"my husband and he runs a sickening 7:30 pace. So I hung back with my daughter who did SO well. She finished with an 11:23 pace and is so proud. This race didn't have any bling, though, so I am going to give her one of my medals.
Thanks for the support, Warriors!

Hey warriors!
Well i got home this morning after a weirdly tearful goodbye to my parents yesterday! They're back next week so i'm not quite sure what that was about, think i get on too well with my DMum if that's possible :sad2:
Anyway, as jet lag's kicked in i thought i'd catch up with you guys.
Stacey very impressed by all of your posts!
Erika great work on your race and your daughter's amazing- i'm with Tracy, tell her a very well well done from your proud warriors.
Tracy leading by example hey? I should expect nothing less, you're a constant inspiration.
carrie it's was good to see you, sorry things are so hectic.
Jeff your 'usual' 8 1/4 miles is staggering!
Marcia i like the sound of rest days too. Hey sometimes a couple of extras are just what's needed.
Marcie :woohoo: for 4 miles, i'm certain you'll get back into it with a target set now.
Roxy what did you do to your foot? Hope it's not too bad!!!! Poorly warriors require all pixie dust!

Ok so now to me,
Princess 1/2 was amazing, well actually my whole holiday was fab but the race was great. What i truly am staggered by in Disney races is how enthusiastically people cheer- especially WISHers, but everyone. I've never run a race anywhere else where i've felt proud! Anyway, managed to hook up with a lady called Nancy who was also aiming for 2hour mark from mile 8 so we kept each other going til the end. In fairness i asked open ended questions and learned lots about her, whilst i concentrated on breathing! Finish time 1hour 56min 57 secs so was absolutely thrilled. I also have a burning desire to do the full!!!! :scared1:
I got in 2.5miles on tues and 5.5 on friday whilst still in Disney- need to check up on times off ipod then i'll update spreadsheet. Meant to do a really long run tomorrow but we'll see how i feel after a sleep. Fingers crossed warriors!

How did the races go Jim, Erika and Michelle!!!
I woke up sick with a respiratory infection, so I was a no-show.
Bummer :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
Between that and the class I was held captive in last week, this has literally been the worst week of training/running I have had in a year.
Well, at least the space shuttle launched safely..............

Hey warriors, I have been absent for awhile, but have been getting in some miles and minutes. Well, mostly minutes, but I have been updating the spreadsheet!!
Last weekend at WDW was fun. Slightly sad not to have run the princess, but it was also nice to be there and not worry about getting up early to run. I was able to fully enjoy my adult drinky-drinks!! :cool1:
Congrats to all the warriors who did the princess! kate and tracy your times were awesome!! Kate, I am contemplating the full in 2010. You must do it.
Erika-Awesome race today! It must have been so much fun to run with DD!!
My focus now is losing the last 20-25 pounds that I would like to get rid of, and a sub 30 5K. And trying to add in a bit more strength and core work.

Amy - I have seen that you are updating the spredsheet so I wasn't so worried about you. Ihope the drinky-drink were good and I have a goal of losing more weight before Jan!! I also have to say you have a GREAT photo of Robert Pattinson!! Mister Bite me any day!!

Hi there, Warriors!
Congrats to everyone who ran the Princess 1/2! I loved hearing your race reports! You all rock! :cool1:
After a slow start this week, I've gotten a few runs in late in the week. Nothing longer than 3 miles, but I do have some longer runs in the schedule for next week, so I'm not feeling too bad. On the advice of my (soon to be) SIL, who is a world-class cross country skier, I'm alternating "on" and "off" weeks, where my on weeks have about twice the mileage of my off weeks. Seems to be going well so far.
We also made a trip to REI today. I found those Thorlos Experia socks that (if I remember correctly) Tracy mentioned last month, and picked up a pair in WISH green. I'm pretty excited about them! :goodvibes I also tried on the Garmin Forerunner 305 and 405; I know that I'm going to end up with one of them in the next few months, and I've been leaning towards the 305, for the better reviews on functionality and the lower price tag. Surprise, surprise, even though the 305 is HUGE, it is also somehow much more comfortable on my wrist than the 405. So, it looks like my decision has been made; now I just have to convince myself to part with the $200. We're also starting bikram (hot) yoga this week and so were looking for yoga mats but didn't find anything we liked, so I ordered a couple off of Amazon once we got home. Hopefully the heat and yoga combined will help with the lower back stiffness I've been having for the last few months. Also, tried on the new Mizuno Wave Rider 12 running shoes and they have that same stupid ridge as the shoes that dislocated my cuboid bone in December! Ugh! :lmao: I love REI trips; it's totally THE toy store for adults!
Well, we're off for dinner at my favorite Thai place! Yum!

Most WISHers are back from the Princess half, and many of us are going through Disney withdrawal in one form or another....
So, to spread a little PD pixiedust: that will keep everyone moving forward with a Tiggerish bounce in our training steps, tomorrow's mixer question is:
Who or what is your favorite Disney character, and why?
We hope that you feel inspired to post some light-hearted Disney memories on the Team 'Ohana thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=30834709#post30834709). Pictures--from races, recent trips, childhood experiences--and stories are welcomed. And if your favorite character is a Pixar one--or gasp, from some other studio--feel free to share that as well.

Freckles is a LOST reference. It fit Tracy so I had to.
I got out for my 12 miler today. After several weeks of cold, windy, wet weather, it was finally sunny today. Very humid, so by the time I was at 10 miles, I had stopped sweating. Dehydrated, so I slowed down the last two miles.

Hello Warriors!
I had a very busy day today, but have finally made it home for the night.
I had a fairly good race this morning. Had a little issue with the low and mid back (not sure where that came from), but all in all had a fun time with the running group. And the best part of all...I PR'd! Ok....so this was only my third 1/2, but still...I shaved a whole 23 minutes off of my time!!!:yay: I was aiming for more, but the back problem really slowed me down.
But there is always next time to break this one! :thumbsup2

Not only do we have an REI, but we actually have several, including the REI Flagship store, which is located just north of downtown and is big and beautiful (it has its own waterfall!). The longer I live in Seattle, the more everything I own has been purchased there! :lmao: Heck, we managed to get a pair of hiking boots, two pairs of running socks, some GU, and a bike light and basket today and not pay ANYTHING, because we have such a big dividend from the amount that we spent there in 2008! :lmao:

Hey Warriors!
I ran the Gate River Run 15k on Saturday. We did it on a whim because Ted had a friend who's wife was running and they wanted to get together for the weekend.
As usual, you never saw the elites, but I did think it was cool to be on the same course. My mom texted me around mile 5 to tell me the race had been won! :lmao: You go through downtown, a kind of trendy restaurant area, a really nice neighborhood, and to the stadium. And over TWO bridges. It was crowded but not claustrophobic. Everyone seemed to be listening to an iPod. I did too out of peer pressure, but I missed the feel of Disney where you can chat with people...
There were tons of spectators and some runners dressed up- Forest Gump passed me as did the Aloha Dudes. There were 9 bands along the course and plenty of water stations.
Jim- sorry you weren't there, but you played it smart. That would have been a miserable run sick, especially the Hart Bridge! If you want to make up for it with a Bridge Run, there's one in Brunswick this weekend- the Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run 5k. I've done it twice- it's crazy hard. I'll miss it this year because Harry has his first soccer game. I'm not that sad about missing it. You get a L/S cotton t-shirt and a medal. (I'm all about the bling). :rolleyes1

Quick fly by this time! Went out and did 14miles this morning. It should have been 16, but someone please tell me that a jetlagged 14 is the same as a normal 16?!?!? Anyway took 1hr 20 so was quite a bit slower but i guess that's the race magic and proper tired legs. Back to work tomorrow, just out of curiosity is it as great living in the US as i imagine? Particularly you floridians?

Just a quick fly by, very busy day. I didn't even get to go to the Mixer. Today was my cross train day. I walked for 10 minutes and did a lot of stretching because my left leg hamstring is very tight after yesterday's run. Then I did the wii fit, yoga & strength. Took a hot bath and have iced my hamstring for a little while.
OT - I need pixie dust. My Aunt's husband is having surgery tomorrow to get rid of an aneuryism in his brain stem. My Aunt has only been married about 2 years. She is very nervous. They are trying to go through his groin to get to it but if they can't then Wednesday he will have through the scalp brain surgery.

Marcie so incredibly pleased things have gone well, will keep you in my thoughts until he's all recovered.
Tracy and Jen man i really hoped you'd say- no it's all just a vacation dream, it's actually an awful place to live. Unlikely i know :goodvibes Hmmm different coloured doors and thatched houses don't really exist in my village, they do down the road tho! That's cool, you came to Reading Jen. My dad worked there for a bit.
Marcia gym three days in a row is staggering. You must be in such good shape to be able to do that!
Had 30 mins physio today, only wanted to hit him once so that's an improvement. He said my ITB is like a guitar string it's so tight. I replied 'sorry!', he replied with a deep muscle massage. We also came to an agreement that once boston's done i'm going way back to basics to sort of running style and strengthen up. This will NOT be the end!

Hey my fellow Warriors! (did I teel you all lately that you are wonderful?, well you ARE!)
Last drop in before I head out to WDW tomorrow to get my gift card for my birthday!! I FINALLY got to go to my favorite place to walk, Mount Trashmore. (called Vista View Park) For those that are familiar it is the one place in my area that actually has a few hills! It is a retired trash hill. When the time changed back the park is now open until 7:30 so I can now make it there after work!!! YEAH!! I love this place because of the trail and the up and down the hill!! A bit of a challenge!!
So, first day back at MT and I did 3.50 miles in 48min 32sec that = 13:53 pace which is my fastest at this park!! I did a few more things while there to add some time!
Have a grea weekend my teammates!!

Hi Warriors:
I've been put down with a cold this week, but was feeling better so I got my long run in today. 8.78 miles in 1:55. I also had my first ever case of running road rash; Jack (the German Shepherd) had stopped paying attention somewhere around mile 7 and ran straight into an orange traffic cone! He bounced off, straight into my path, and I tripped over him and landed hard on the sidewalk. Luckily, nothing more than some scraped knees and gravel-filled palms! Jack, of course, is indestructible and was just standing there over me, with a "why are you on the ground?" expression on his face! :rotfl:
I also broke down and ordered the Garmin 305 GPS watch from Amazon yesterday. The nice thing about living in Seattle is that as I was submitting my order to Amazon, the system asked me if I wanted the grocery delivery truck to deliver it today (Sunday) - yes, and also some stir-fry veggies and a gallon of milk, please! lol. Only in Seattle. Of course, because I only ordered it at about 11:00 last night, the earliest available delivery time was 6-7 this evening - so too late for my long run today.... but at least I'll be able to play with it tonight!

Please join us on the 'Ohana team thread for the Monday Mixer. The Mixer starts here. (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30947216&postcount=528)
There are many reasons why we race. Sometimes it's a way to challenge ourselves. Sometimes it's a strategy to keep ourselves motivated. Sometimes it's a reason to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. And sometimes, just sometimes, it's about the goodies. :teeth:
This week's question is about those goodies:
What is your favorite medal/t-shirt/race-bag goody, and WHY?
So come on over to 'Ohana. Share with us your favorite pictures and stories. Brag about the bling. If you haven't done a medal-awarding event, tell us about a shirt. If you love a particular expo, we want to know why. And if you're new to races, visit anyway. You can get some ideas for future races and "ooh" and "ahhh" over the pretty, shiny things.
On a more serious note: Two of our 'Ohana cousins, Maria and Richard, could use some extra hugs, well wishes, and PD this week. If you've got the time, please let them know you're thinking of them.

Hi Warriors, I've been kept hostage by the Real Life demons. I'm getting in some basic stuff, not as much as I need. Keep at it everyone. I've at least read and see we are managing to plug away.

Hi Warriors!
Tracy: Thanks for asking about my dog-related road rash! :lmao: I'm a little raw today (particularly on my palms, after picking the gravel out) but not so worse for wear. It really could have been much worse - I fell more on my side than my arms or knees, which was a good thing.
I also had my first Bikram (hot) yoga class tonight and.... oh dear god. I feel much more worn out that I ever have from running - the class is 90 minutes in a room over 105 degrees F, and you're pretty much constantly in a posture. I didn't realize that it was possible for a human body to sweat that much! I was just wearing running shorts and a sports bra and I was SOAKED within 10 minutes. And there were a few times when my heart was beating harder than it ever has from running! So I'm definitely logging those 90 minutes, and I think I'll give the class another try this week. I don't really want to go back, but I feel like it's worth another shot now that I know what to expect.

Sarah really pleased you're not too sore and managed to fall on your side- still sounds pretty hurty tho! Man, hot yoga sounds evil! Good grief you should be able to log double minutes for that
Just a short 2 mile run, stretch and 25mins (0.47miles) swim- totalled 50 mins today. Felt more energetic afterwards than ever.
Keep it up warriors

It was certainly the least fun work-out that I've had in the recent past. Anything where you spent a good third of the class hoping that you're not going to pass out or vomit (or pass out while vomiting) is not my idea of a good time. I chatted with the girl who was next to me during the class in the changing room and she said that your first time is always miserable, but it gets better once your body learns to deal with the heat. I'm willing to give it one more try, because there are definitely benefits to it: you're able to stretch more completely without straining, because of the heat, and you get in a good full-body cardio and strength workout, without any impact on the joints. I just wish it was less miserable. :rolleyes1
Happy Tuesday, Warriors! I'm excited to do my first run with my new Garmin Forerunner, as soon as I get out of this office!

Sarah, Let us know how you like your run with you new Garmi!! I love my garmi and keep her close by!!
I went out for a speed workout of 4miles.
I was ablt to warm up the first miles and did negative spilts!! I felt it was a good walk workout and am now just going to relax a bit until my racewalk on Saturday where I hope to PR my last 5K in which my time was 39min 53 sec.
CARRIE: I stiil have not heard anything from Barb or Princess Shea. I did PM them and got no response. Not sure if we should ask for two new members or not??

Hi Warriors!
Sarah, glad you didn't seriously injur yourself. That yoga class sounds intriguing, and insane at the same time. I don't know. I'd like to hear if you go back. It just seems exercising in that kind of heat would not be good for my system.
Tracy, seems like you've got a great routine going.

Went for a 3.52 mile run after work today, despite the rain. It's Seattle, when is it ever not raining?
So, me and the Garmin Forerunner are already good friends. Totally worth every penny spent on it. I love having the Virtual Running Partner to keep me on pace! Even if I did defeat the purpose, and whip its little butt in the home stretch. :rotfl: Also, it seems to me that it is more consistent in measuring my heart rate than my Polar F4. My heart rate was often all over the place with the Polar HRM, but the Garmin showed it as remarkably stable for my workout. It also picked up the satellites much faster than I expected.... I turned it on and it was all ready to go.
Anyway, I love it. The Garmin really beats trying to run a constant pace based on expected heart rate, which is what I had been trying to do with my Polar HRM. It was fine for when the majority of my running was based off of heart rate zones, but not so great now that I've graduated to pace-based training. I also love being able to look at my route on Google Maps, after uploading it to MapMyRun; I could even see the little detour I took to avoid the off-leash dog!

Hey team,
Get out there and workout! It'll make you feel great!
I got out for 8:27 miles, 1:18:18 A bit windy, so it was a push going out, and a tailwind going back. I need to get some more stretching in, whew my left hip and hamstrings are tight! Too much hokey pokey with the keiki. :lmao:
Looks like they may be filming LOST tomorrow at the Ala Wai Yacht Club. Not confirmed, but the parking lot is reserved from noon to 7 pm.
Hey Tracy, I'll be off on Thursday. It's Prince Kuhio's birthday. Don't you have the day off too? :rotfl2: In June we get King Kamehameha's birthday, and August we celebrate 50 years of statehood with Admissions day. Don't you all WISH you lived here?

Hello Warriors!
Man, I missed you guys! Lots of LTO going on, but I have still been running! 4.5 miles last night that really stunk. Too many things blooming in the park where we ran. I couldn't breath!!! Allergies have really kicked in.:sad2:
Glad to see everyone here is doing well and keeping it up.
Sarah - Glad you are ok after your spill. I think that is what keeps me from taking my pooch too often. He is easliy spooked by cars and likes to dart in front of me when he gets scared. DH has been working with him a little more, so I may be tempted to try it again.
Jeff - Have a great day off! I am working today, but today is my Friday!!! I have family in town from Idaho and took tomorrow off!:woohoo:
Looks like I will be doing a 10k on Sunday. I got peer pressured into it last night by the running group!
Later Warriors!!!

Well some very good inspiring warrior posts! Whoo, you're all doing great.
Sarah i'm not surprised you have a new best friend
Jeffnot jealous one bit- we've had every uni day off for the last 7 weeks!!! No learning going on, but at least we get wednesday's off! Maybe we should ask the queen for more days off tho :)
Michelle sorry about your allergies, i have so much sympathy for ppl who suffer. Way to go for keeping 4.5miles in tho and for signing up for 10k.
Tracyisn't it lovely writing 'nice' before run!
AFM 8 miles of speedwork on a treadmill because apparently winter has returned here- with snow on the way and ridiculous winds. I'm off to check how the boston weather's doing! Also, stretch and physio exercises which took me to 92 mins exercise.

Michelle: Yikes, sorry to hear about your allergies! I used to have real problems like that in the spring when I lived in Ontario. The Pacific Northwest is really good at keeping all the dust and pollen out of the air (all that rain is good for something!) so I haven't had problems since I moved here. Have you tried Nasonex? It was a real godsend in the spring, for me! Good luck on your 10k this weekend!
Kate: Snow in late March in England? What the heck is going on??!! I lived in England for several years (spread pretty evenly between London and rural Suffolk County), and I seem to remember it getting rather warm and spring-like by April.
Well, no Bikram Yoga for me tonight. I was even all dressed to go, when suddenly the dog started pacing at the door and crying. He's come down sick, so there's no leaving him alone in the apartment tonight, unless I really want to rent a carpet cleaner this weekend. :crazy2: Tomorrow is my off day, so we're going to try again on Saturday.
I did get a slow 3 mile run in this morning, though, so at least I still did get something in!

Michelle: Hey we all get LTO moments. So, I guess you'll do great on your 10k on Sunday. Try to sound more enthusiastic about it?? Good luck with it anyway!
Kate: I always try to put "nice" in front of my planned miles so that I am trying to think positively about it. How is the training comeing for the Boston Marathon? What is going to be your longest miles before you go? Are you planning to come to WDW In Jan to do the full or half. I got a survey email from disneysports regarding the Princess Half Marathon today and filled it out online.
I did an easy 3.10 miles tonight at the park, just trying to keep it light before my racewalk on Saturday. DId some stretching.
Have a good Thursday evening WARRIORS!

Jeff, hope you enjoyed your day today.
Tracy, glad you enjoyed your "nice" stroll today. Will be thinking of you with your event this weekend.
Michelle, good for you doing the 10k this weekend. Hope your allergies can be managed with some medication.
Kate, sorry you were forced inside on TM. Good for you on getting it done.
Kirby Dog and I made it out in it for 2 miles. I was really singing in the rain ala Gene Kelly style. No one was nearby to hear my made up rendition. Birdies were singing in it too so really they didn't seem bothered by me.
Last month it was doc day and epidural for my back pain. Today was doc day and shot for hip bursitis. Talk about being a PITA. Whoa! Working my way to getting better able to conquer this distance stuff again.

Hi Warriors:
Having a supremely crappy day today. Jack the German Shepherd was sick all night, which finally turned into projectile vomiting water every time he moved by 8:00 this morning. He's been hospitalized at the vet's for today, and I'm waiting at home for the vet to call back with blood test results before I can leave for the office. We got rid of our cell phones last year, and this is the first time that I'm cursing not having one.
And to make this whole morning worse, as this was going on, my iMac crashed and couldn't reboot. I had to replace the hard drive last summer, so I immediately feared the worst. I had to dig out the install CD and go through the whole process of repairing my disk (luckily it worked) while panicking about the dog, and panicking about losing the entire contents of my hard drive. I'm buying an external drive to back-up the computer this weekend. With Time Machine on Mac OSX Leopard, there is really no excuse for me to not have the thing backed up to 5 minutes ago at all times.
Hoping the day gets better!

Keiki were at YMCA Spring fun, so we watched a dvd, then spent the day running errands.
Off topic: Hannah Montana Movie
If you have a daughter, niece, or little sister, take them to see the Hannah Montana movie. We went to a free private screening with the Girl Scouts.
Being a dad, I really enjoyed taking 4 girls ages 10-11 to see it. They enjoyed it a lot. They talked about it the whole ride home. Good storyline, and very nice songs.
I suspect this will be the new dance craze!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fRiT05TWwE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fRiT05TWwE)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A few people I know on Facebook questioned my sanity about going to the Hannah Montana movie. There was a storyline to it, and really good music. I must say, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana has a voice which is improving with age. Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift have cameo appearances/songs. I liked it, and when it comes out on DVD, it will be purchased for this Disney family!
Last night was a Girl Scout free private screening, and members could bring non-members with them to have a fun "girls night out." The movie was nothing like the TV show on the Disney Channel.
Being one of the very few male leaders on this island, I took 4 girls including my 10 3/4 year old. There were about 3 other dads, and a couple of brothers. Otherwise about 350 tween-agers and up. Will the boys like it, I say probably, but not as much as the girls.
When we got home, we spent time finding the songs and videos on youtube, so my Princess #1 could listen to them, and learn the dance.
Like I said in my previous post, I think the "Hoedown Throwdown" dance is going to be the next craze with the kids. Think what High School Musical's "We're All In This Together" was to the kids. It's going to be popular amongst the kids.
The Tennessee scenery, where it was filmed, was pretty nice to look at as well.

Not sure what the iMac's problem was, but it looks like something was corrupted, that had to be rebuilt in order for the hard drive to recognize the operating system. It was annoying. But could have been much worse. All my pictures from the Marathon Weekend in January (not to mention all the photos that I've taken in the last year or so) are on that thing, and not backed up or printed. I'm rather stupid, I'm realizing.
Putting my dog back together hasn't been as easy. His condition has worsened since he was admitted into the animal hospital this morning; it looks like he has some internal bleeding, which is never good. The blood tests all came back normal, so they're looking for a bacterial infection now. They also x-rayed him to rule out an obstruction (as in, he swallowed a sock, or the like) and everything looks normal. The main concern right now is the severe dehydration, but they are caring for him as best they can.
Jack is really my furry child, so I'm not taking this particularly well. He just looked so terrible and "floppy" when I left him at the vet this morning.... he could barely walk... not at all his usual happy and active young German Shepherd self. This is also going to be a huge financial hit for us at a time when money is already pretty tight, but I can't really care. We'll postpone (or downscale) the wedding, cancel our WDW Marathon Weekend trip for 2010, whatever. Family is the priority, and Jack is definitely a member of the family.
Once I finally got into work this morning, I also learned that several members of my department, including my direct supervisor, had been laid off. We knew lay-offs were coming, but didn't think that they could cut the education department more than they already have. Turns out we were wrong.
Oh well, it's almost 5:00 and time to go home. I think I deserve an adult beverage and a nap.

I was going to update the monthly Google sheet and for some reason again I'm not able to edit my info into the sheet. Oh well, it's not a ton of info, but I figured I'd get my paper work up-to-date since I've compiled it finally. I added it to the Presidents Challenge site and am tracking at least time there.

Sarah: I am still hoping that things are going well for the puppy!! I also hope your job is hanging in there!!
Lily: Hey girl, hope the hip is doing well and you not sore today.
Jeff: I know, I know. You want to talk me into coming out to CA again. I did go and check prices for direct flights, but still looks a bit expensive. I only get the days off during the week that they want me to, sometime I can choose and sometimes I can't. There are two pregnant girls at work and one is due around Sept and one in October. It would have to be a short trip IF it happened.
AFM!! I will post it here first to my WARRIOR team. I PR'd the 5K racewalk this morning!! I did 3.10 miles in 38min 19.2sec. for a avg pace of 12:12. It was weird though as they had the racewalkers start with the runners. So I could possible shave off 3seconds or so from that. It was a very WINDY day over on Pompano Beach and I actually had to lean into the wind at times and hold on to my visor. Oh and BTW, I placed first. Probably should've been second as the other lady racewalker in the area was injured and couldn't participate.
I just got back from a masage and will probably take a nap now.
Thanks for all the well wishes.

Hi Warriors:
Thank you for your kind words and prayers for our German Shepherd, Jack. Thankfully, they were able to take him off the IV and send him home this morning. Still no idea what got him, but they're leaning towards a bacterial infection, or that he ingested something toxic that had been sprayed in the foliage along one of the areas that we walk him. They injected him with subcutaneous fluids before releasing him this morning, so he currently has a mass of water that moves when he moves (which is totally weird) and he was sent on his way with a bright green bandage on his paw from the IV and a whole whack of medication. He also is to be fed on a bland diet of 5 cups of fat free cottage cheese mixed with 5.5 cups of white rice, per day, for the next 4 days. I'm so thankful that we bought a fancy computerized rice cooker just last month!
So, it was really scary, but it could have been much worse. He's not moving much today, but I'm guessing that will change soon. The bill was pretty atrocious, but we put it on our Disney Visa Card, so at least we'll get a free meal out of it. :rolleyes1 It also helped make some of the decisions we've been trying to make about the wedding, as far as what thing to "outsource" to family members and what to have professionally done.
I'm taking the day off from running today, despite having a run scheduled. The last couple days really wore me out, so I think I deserve a lazy Saturday. It's also pouring outside, which helps. :rotfl:
Thanks again, Warriors, and I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Hey Warriors...
Just tryint to keep tabs with everyone, esp those that don't post very often.
Please get with us and let us know how your doing!! That's what we are hear for!!
I spoke with Carrie during the Princess Half about Barb (1/2 MarathonPixie) and Katie (PrincessShea) as we haven't heard from them, I haven't gotten any updates as to miles all of February and nothing for March. Carrie said she would try to contact Barb, but still haven't heard anything.
I know there are still people coming into the WISH racing team and want to be placed on the smaller teams. I feel that if people have LTO to let us know and then we can decide what to do. However, if we don't hear from you and we try to contact you through PM and email, then I guess it time for a teary goodbye and then we can add someone to our team.
I don't want this to sound mean/harsh or anything - and if anybody has any ideas to let me know. I just think it would be nice to hear from all of you guys from time to time and not just the last day of the month. But whatever works for you all is best for the team.
OK Warriors keep at it only a few more days left in the month and then I will start an APRIL thread.

Went for my second to last long run before boston- so update for you tracy!
I was due to do 19miles, went with a very sneaky friend who i'm doing the marathon with and we did 20.5miles 3 hours 20mins. Oh my goodness, it's just not enjoyable towards the end! Haven't ever run with her, but we chatted until mile 17 so it went quite quickly really. Just another 6 miles to add! Next week upto 21 or 22 then down to 8 before Boston time!
Sarah i know i haven't been on for a few days, but i have been thinking about you and jack. Really pleased he's home- random squishy fluid sounds very weird tho! Oh and we didn't snow in the end, just hail. Scotland did tho!
Lily how's your hip doing. Fingers crossed the shot will make it easier for you to get your teeth into that distance work
Racey Tracy you did brilliantly!!!! That is such a great average and massive credit to you for coming first- i don't care how- you're number one! whooooo.
Jim I hope you're ok, sorry you got hurt. That much pain does not sound good. i can't believe you ran 5 miles..... oh no actually it's jim of course i can. You be careful!
Jeff those pancakes look awesome, i agree you seem like a briliant dad.
Big shout out to everyone else out there :surfweb:

Hi Warriors!
It has been ages since I posted. So sorry! I have been keeping up with my miles, so I will update the spreadsheet soon, too!
I have been in P.A.I.N. and I just can't figure out why. For example, I go out for a regular ol' 4 miler. Nothing taxing or unusual. And then I HURT as though I have never done one ounce of exercise in my entire life. What is that about??? And it has been going on like this for 3 weeks. I can't figure it out.
Today it is pouring rain and I slogged through 6 miles. It wasn't pretty, but it's in the books.
Jim--healing vibes to you!
Kat--WOO HOO on the big 20-miler!
Great job everyone!

Erika: Glad to hear from you but SORRY about the pain thing. Yeah, what is up with that?? Have you changed anything, like shoes or something? I would say if it keeps up you might need to go see a doc. If it doesn't feel right to you and you can't figure out why it has come up then time to go see someone about it. Just don't think you wanna chance it for too long.

Way to go WISHers on your mileage and reps. Kate, way to go on your mileage. Continue to train smart before your race next month. :thumbsup2
I did my 12 miles today with the Honolulu Marathon Clinic. About 150 people are showing up consistently.
My first 4 miles were sluggish, the second 5 were good, and the last 3 were a struggle. Hot weather has returned, and so I wogged it back up and over Kahala Avenue and Diamond Head Road. 1:58 total. Not my best run, but I got it done.
Now off to change the oil in the truck, followed by our Girl Scout meeting. (He Deb & Tracy, we're making "Guri-Guri" Ice cream in a coffee can-photos to follow).

Just popping over to return a shout out to Tracy. My "grovery" shopping went well. I bought 10 acres of orange/grapefruit trees!--Just kidding. Just the usual stuff to keep us going for another week.
While I'm here.....Smileyk8 Will you wear your WISH shirt in Boston? If so, I may be able to find one person I know to cheer for you--DD lives right in Kenmore Square, so you'll be passing very close to her sorority.
Jeff Pancakes, ice cream.....I gotta go eat something.
Have a great week, Warriors!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:
Wendy posted this on the Lean Meaner thread and her words resonated with me, so I thought I'd pass it along as it serves as the inspiration for this week's mixer. :flower3:
It feels like Spring in my head-- a time for cleaning out the junk, renewing my resolve, and enjoying all that is beautiful around me. It's a renewed hope thing -- Do you feel that way, too?
So, WISHers, springtime is in the air as well as on the calendar. And even if your neighborhood isn't enjoying springlike weather quite yet, it's fun to plan for that day that's just around the corner. So this week's set of related prompts are...
What outdoor activity (or activities) do you most look forward to in the spring, and why? What is an annual spring tradition for you? How do you enjoy that first, perfect spring day?
Feel free to talk about prepping the bike for the season's first ride or the first run in shorts. But we're also interested in hearing about other activities: gardening, kite-flying, spring cleaning, picnics, roller blading, hiking, and so on.
So tell us your stories. The 'Ohana Monday Mixer starts here. (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=31077342&postcount=584)

Hey all!
Just checking in. My life is insane at the moment so I haven't been able to update as much as I would like. I definitely have not been able to get in the mileage this month... With sickness, spring break, and this musical I have really been slacking... But good news is that I have lots of hours of exercise to add! Next month will probably be the same since we go into our long rehearsals and the show then- but after all this is over I am definitely back in WISH mode! Hope all is well!
Tracy- congrats!!!
Jeff- I'm so jealous! I want Mickey pancakes for breakfast!!! haha Actually I would love them right now!
Jim- feel better soon!!!
Kate- that's intense! Keep it up!!!
OH! I just realized I'm 3 posts from 800! Wow!

Erika so sorry you're in pain! Hope you figure it out really soon

Maura yeah i hope to wear my WISH shirt if it's warm enough. I have no idea what the weather's going to be like- any heads up would be very much appreciated.
Did gentle 2.5 miles today, it was almost enjoyable!!! Bit of a niggle towards the front of my foot on the top, but i figured it might be tight laces so will try to loosen for next one.
You're all amazing

Hi Warriors!
I did my last minute 10k on Sunday morning. Finished with a 2 minute PR! Not much...but at least it was something! I think I would have done a lot better had it not been for the allergies kicking in. The trees in the park were all in bloom and we had horrible wind! At times, it looked like yellow rain!:headache: Ewwwwwww! I really had to slow down about mile 4.5. It all went down hill from there. So I'm am happy about the 2 minutes!:thumbsup2
But the most exciting news is that I got my email yesterday! I got into the Nike's Womens 1/2 in San Francisco in October!:woohoo: I am so excited!!!
If DD's cold is not worse, I am headed to the track tonight for a speed workout with the running group. If anybody needs to work on speed...it sure is me!!!
Michelle congrats on getting into the Nikes women half that is awesome. Just a quick stop by to post March miles and time 129.86 miles in the time of 21 hours and 24 minutes. I am doing the womens Zooma 1/2 marathon this weekend so it should be a blast. Hope everyone is well and keep marching on Warriors. Sorry gotta go busy day!!!:)

Hey Warriors!
I've slacked off on posting for a couple of weeks, but have been running. My real totals are 88 miles and 15 hours. My double race miles add up to 28 for March so my miles are now 116. It will be a long time before I can top that one! I do feel a bit aimless after doing 3 races in March. I'm pretty much out of long races until October and I get nervous without a goal...
I just did the Swamp Run 10k on Saturday. It was great temperature wise, but really humid. It's roads and about 2 miles of trail running. It's a fun race. I actually was third in my age group and won a trophy! How funny is that?! I have it propped up on my curtain rod o' medals. (I don't think there were many others in my age group, but that's totally beside the point :rolleyes1). The best part? This run is linked in with Swampfest, which is this weekend- so I can totally justify my traditional fried Oreo.
Hope everyone is doing well and the injured are feeling better!

Hey Warriors!! Hope everyone is having a great day! It is absolutely beautiful here in WV today! It's so exciting! March is going out like a lamb! Wanted to report my mileage and hours for March:
11.5 miles (ugh... most of you do this much in one day.... i'm awful lol such a slacker.)
29 hours
(I did more just exercise than running this month...)

But the most exciting news is that I got my email yesterday! I got into the Nike's Womens 1/2 in San Francisco in October!:woohoo: I am so excited!!!I am thrilled for you! That is a race I thought about at one time. Just not planning to even try any longer. I can't wait to hear all about your experience.
We ended the month with a bicycle ride. Tweak style since this is DH's first journey since surgery and with his new bike. It was a success so I'm sure more will be in our future.
Erika, I'm sorry about the pain. I have no suggestion. It doesn't sound like it makes sense. Have you checked with your running store? They may have some insight to offer.
Kate, I am excited for your Boston. I think it will be difficult to determine weather until you get there. Be prepared for most anything.
Jeff, pancakes look yummy!
Good to see some of our Warriors still here.

Happy Last Day of March Warriors!!
Got a real slow 5.3 miles w/.25 cool down today.
Not nearly as much physical pain as last time, but for some reason I am still kinda' pooped mentally. My YTD total mileage is in the crapper, but hopefully, between a better outlook, not so much equipment failures, and better organization I will start to get back in the swing of things in April.
No events on the horizon anytime soon :sad1:, but maybe a sprint or oly tri in June.

Last miles on the chart for me was a small 3 miler in about 44 min. Just trying to keep it easy as both shins are still not happy and my back is still bothering me a bit.
Good Night Warriors~~
