We are taking DSL and Family to WDW for their 1st trip this June. We are DVC members so we are staying in a 2 BR at Animal Kingdom. We are all going to be on the DDP. Is there anyway to divide up our room keys with their DDP on one room key and ours on the other? I'm sure Disney has this all worked out someway, or at least I hope so!! :confused3

No there isn't. All of the credits will be pooled onto one card unless you have separate reservations.
If it helps you feel less anxious about everything being combined, we did this on a trip with my mom and dad, my sister, DH and my 2 DS's. It worked out fine. :thumbsup2

I have a question that's just a bit different. We have two DVC rooms booked. One 2-bedroom and one 1-bedroom. They are both on the same reservation. Will our DDP credits be all together on everyone's card or will they be separated by room?

Sorry to say, but ALL of your credits will be on ALL of your cards. That means if they use more snacks than allowed or other credits, there's nothing you can do. We have done this a few times with our adults kids and grandkids staying in a 2 bedroom. It gets crazy trying to keep up with all of the credits. All you can do is go to the front desk each evening or every other evening and get a print out of how many credits you have left and where each was used. They will print you out a sheet anytime you want. We've done this during every trip -- sometimes just to make sure our balances are the same. We started getting the print out when we realized that sometimes the CM's would charge our room for a snack instead of using our credits. All you can do is be upfront with your room mates and tell them how it works. If the other family has never used credits before, please make sure they understand the difference between counter service (QS) and table service (TS). We watched a family at the 50s Prime Time had to PAY for their bill because they had accidently used ALL of their TS credits. They had eaten breakfast at WCC on several mornings and thought they were using counter service credits....:scared1: We sat next to them and we had to listen while they sorted out where the credits went. It was not their last day and now they were out of TS credits, because they had used them for breakfast.

We had 2 rooms on one reservation for my family (family of 5 needing connecting rooms at a moderate because of capacity issues) and all the dining credits were all together on the cards. The credits were not separated by room.

I was afraid of that. The family in the one bedroom will be on their own alot of the time so it's going to be very hard to keep track. I was under the impression that the credits are separated by rooms but I knew I'd get the right info from the folks here. Thanks for clearing it up for me. :)

Okay. Me again. Not trying to beat a dead horse but DH just thought of something. Even though both rooms are on one reservation they each have their own confirmation number. Does that count for anything? (fingers crossed) :confused3

If you have separate rooms with separate room keys, you will have individual dining plans. We just got back, had 5 rooms for our family, each room had their own dining plan.

DD & her BFF had a separate room last May -- separate confirmation number, separate deposit on the ressie, too. Even though I made the reservation for both rooms & DH's credit card was on both rooms (we were paying for both room packages & both meal plans.) DD's room had their set of meal credits & our room had our set. So every meal together, the CM had to take one card from our room & one card from DD's room.
And if all else fails, when you check in, talk to the people at the desk-if they are all lumped together, could be they can separate the credits at that point - don't know for sure that they can, but would be worth asking.
I've read "horror" stories about family groups getting to places like CRT and coming up very short on the TS credits - being presented with a bill for several hundred dollars for a meal that was supposed to be covered by DDP credits - because one room had used many, many TS credits to order room-service pizza (2 TS credits per pizza!)

YES!! That's what I want to hear. Thanks catne and Pakey. I don't want us to end up being one of those "horror stories". :)
