Hope you didn't spit on your keyboard. :)

I just love Southern phrases:

"It's hotter out there then two rats screwin' inside a wool sock"
"He's dumber then whale poop floating on the bottom of the ocean floor"
"He's so stupid he could pour pee out of a boot with the directions on the heel"
"(during an ice/snow storm) It's slicker then snot on a doorknob"
"As welcome as a skunk at a lawn party"
"It's so dry the trees are bribin' the dogs"

Just to name a few and yes, I've used these at some point in actual conversation. :rolleyes1

Yes the 'dar goes off for Adam. It also went off for Ricky who got eliminated on last weeks show.

Now I'm surprised no one has asked if it went off for Nathan. ;)

As for phrases, I've been know to use (edited words (in parenthesis), I'm sure you can use your imagination)...

No *nonsense" Sherlock
Does a bear *go* in the woods
Is the Pope Catholic? / Does the Pope have a Balcony?
Its colder than a witches *nose* out there.

and to tie this all together to the original question.............

My favorite is "Fine as frog's hair." My friend from Fairfield used to say that.

"Colder than a witch's "bosom" in a tin bra" is a favorite of another friend.

There was something on the radio the other day about "If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his "tushy" on the ground" but I can't recall exactly how it went. I told DS I was going to start saying that. Dang. Maybe I'll call the DJ and ask him.

He's a bit of a Drama Queen for my liking.

And separately, yes I saw a bit of the backstory. Real shame. (BTW that has no reflection on my Drama Queen opinion).

Oh, and regarding AI-I haven't watched it since Season 2. Sorry. I've just gotten so tired of it all. Randy uses "dawg" way too much, Paula is loony and Ryan and Simon are, well, Ryan and Simon (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I have to say he was never one of my favorite contestants -- too Jonas' brothers look-a-like for me. He's like the missing older Jonas. However, much as it kills me to admit it, I really liked the twist he put on Ring of Fire last night; it was also a great deal of fun to see exactly how uncomfortable Randy Travis was too. :rotfl:

I am a 59 year old wife, mother, and grandmother who has always watched American Idol and I liked it. However, after watching Adam perform, I am actually excited for it to come on each week. I think he is just about the most talented person who has ever been on American Idol. He can change his look and style with each song. ;)

This "old" (hee hee) lady has never purchased a song or record from any other American Idol in the past..but, I am looking forward to buying his CD's when they come out...! :goodvibes

I LOVED his version of Ring of Fire! I liked Johnny Cash...but, still...Adam rocked it! A lot of people I knew...said they just didn't care for his version...But, Adam HAD to sing it "his way"....He just have come off singing like Johnny Cash....Instead...he made it his own...and that is why I like him...He isn't just a singer...He's also an entertainer...:thumbsup2

Have you noticed how the media is bringing up all the time about the probablity of his being gay and..."Could there be a gay American Idol? Will being gay hurt Adam's chances?"

Some "not so nice" people around me...say "not so nice" things about Adam only because he is most likely gay. It really makes me angry...and I am a mother and a grandmother...which brings out the protective side of me...He seems like such a nice young man...so talented...and his parents also seem nice and supportive. I think he would make an absolute wonderful American Idol. He said, himself, he'd like to set an example for other kids who might feel different about themselves... :flower3:

I feel there should be more to being an American Idol than belting out a song...and Adam has all of those extra qualities and more!

And...Yes....He is cute!

I just love this topic.

I don't think anyone NEEDS gaydar to call this one.

Some are born with silver spoon in their mouths.
Adam..well..it wasn't a silver spoon!!! That's all I'm saying.

I think, although the remaining five are talented...Adam is the best all around entertainer. Every week...he "brings it"...Just when you think he can't "top it"...he does....It's amazing how he can change a song around and make it his own.

Have you noticed during the time he performs, he takes on a whole new persona...then when the act is over...he is just a young man, waiting to hear what the judges are going to say...It's so interesting watching his expressions...

I am so happy his parents are supportive. How proud they must be! :thumbsup2

IMO, one of the reasons why Kris won is because his music style appeals to a larger audience. Don't get me wrong, Adam is very talented and has a great future in the music industry, but his rock style wouldn't appeal to as many. I may be wrong, but just my opinion.

Unfortinuatley, I don't get the feeling Kris is on our team. Boo

Although I'm a fan of Kris and happy he won, Adam definitely deserved it when it comes to vocals. As soon as Danny was out, I knew Kris was going to pick up all of his votes to make him Idol. Danny is in Kris's league. Adam fans are already Adam fans. So this was no surprise.

I too am a HUGE Cyndi Lauper fan. I remember buying her first LP.

ahaha. I used to think I had great Gaydar until an incident this weekend. Just found out (in a not so great way) that an acquaintance of DD9's (camp counsellor - type) that we've known for 2 years is gay -- never saw it, still can't believe I missed that one. Not an issue for us, just baffled that I didn't already know before I found out.

Adam Lambert, OTOH, that was easy.
