I know our poor Northern friends are still suffering with the effects of winter, but those of us in the South are noticing signs of spring! It's 86 degrees here today (odd, even for us!) Post your pictures. This will encourage our Northern friends that spring is, indeed, on the way!

What can I say? Everything is bigger in Texas! ;)
I don't think the bug is actually as big as it seems in comparison to the tree limbs. The limbs are very slender -- much smaller than a pencil, and the leaves are tiny. I think it was a bee.

Give us northeasterners a few more weeks and we can show you some signs of spring. I went to the state park here yesterday to see if I could see any of the eagles that have been there and almost all of the lake had a skim of ice on it again ... it was thawed last week but a few days of cold again took care of that.

I don't have a picture---but the weather here is 60ish today and I saw my first fly of the year. The temperature is supposed to go back down into the 40's and 50's this week, but I can definitely tell that in a few more weeks, I may actually be able to wear short sleeves...or flip flops even!! :thumbsup2

It's spring here, but the wildflowers are pathetic this year. I'm not sure if it's because we didn't get enough rain or maybe something to do with the economy. I was going to lead a big group to do some kids in wildflower shots next weekend, but I scrubbed it.
BTW, I'm already running my AC here.
Hey, I found a crocus in the middle of my front yard yesterday! I didn't plant it, have no idea how it got there, but it was blooming!

Those ARE some hardy daffodils!!!
My dad took a picture this time last year in the Hill Country part of Texas. It was bluebonnets covered in snow! Very weird for Texas. His picture won a ribbon at the State Fair of Texas, though!

Found a local spot on Carol Leigh's California Wildflower Hotsheet (http://www.calphoto.com/wflower.htm) that had some reports of wildflowers nearby, so I took about a 1-1/2 hour hike this morning.

Here are a few pictures from this weekend. The first is from a Japanese Cherry tree in our yard.

This one is some flowers I found on a walk. I don't know what they are.
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh286/landeru84/DSC_0322.jpg
And this last one are some azalea blooms. This is right up against our house which gets the afternoon sun, so it is warmer than the rest of the yard. Most of the bush has not bloomed yet.

Spring in North Texas is the best! I found a great patch of bluebonnets, in spite of the lack of rain. I have bluebonnet pictures every year since DD16 (will be 17 a week from tomorrow)'s 1st birthday. DD16 was diagnosed with mono the day these were taken. I'm hoping she feels well enough to go out there this weekend sometime. This is DD13 and our new puppy:

This is our Timmy Tree, named after our son since it was given to us on his first birthday and he is now almost 23. This beautiful cherry tree will be the only thing I will miss when we ever sell this house (tried last year but no luck) and move to PA. This year's version is in HDR after a heavy rain.
