has really made great strides. The iris I thought were not going to bloom are loaded with buds and other stuff I can't name is blooming.

I guess I want to talk about my trip. My best friend's (we have been friends since grade school) husband died last Tuesday. He had had a kidney removed about 8 years ago due to cancer and then developed non-Hodgkins lymphona. He has had a very rough year - because of his kidney problem and a heart condition he had to go to the hospital for 5 days every month for chemotherapy and just completed 27 courses of radiation. The cancer was in remission - he was getting better and then he got up from breakfast and had a fatal heart attack. So we jumped in the car and drove to Chicago. Stayed overnight with my daughter and new son-in-law in Cleveland both going and coming and spent a day with the kids on the way back.

Sorry to put that on everybody - but I had to talk about it. Seeing the garden thriving does make me feel much better. Gardening really is my therapy.

So sorry to hear about your loss.

Gardens play a big part in helping overcome the loss of a loved one or friend. My Mother pass away some 25 years ago. We were very close, I was completely lost. I started gardening and have not stopped. I fine a lot of peace and answers to questions while gardening.

marlasmom - I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend's husband. I am sure your friendship means more to her now then ever before. I am glad your garden is there as a comfort and thing of beauty.

mamu - I learn something new about you every day! Was your mother a gardener too?

Dixie a answer to your question. She was somewhat of a gardener. Although she never got to see the rewards of her plants. She could smell, touch and actually hear her plants blowing in the breezes. As you probably figured out my Mom was born blind. She was a remarkable woman. She went to Perkins School for the Blind in Boston and could do just about anything. I miss her very much and know she is with me in my gardens. "Seeing every flower and color"
