Just back from a 3 night stay at CSR....oh I so miss it all ready, I'm ready to go back! :sad1: We have stayed at all the moderates including CSR, but with the new rooms I don't think I would stay anywhere else, it's better than the deluxes at half the cost! :thumbsup2 I will be shocked if they don't go up on the prices! We were in Cabana 8A, room 8211, second floor corner room with 2 windows, close to the dig site and the bus stop. The renovated rooms are soooo....much prettier in person than in the pictures!! They are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!! We were on the Quick Service Dining plan and it really paid off eating at the Pepper Market! We spent $100 a day for the plan, but easily spent $200 a day on food not including the refillable mugs that are included in the plan. I know Buzz just got back and has answered alot of questions, but if anyone has any I would be glad to answer. I will post some of my pics soon! If you haven't tried CSR, you need too. I love this resort!

I am sooo glad to hear that. I decided to "upgrade" to the CSR from values b/c of the queen beds. I was a little nervous about the old decor, but once I saw the new rooms I was sold. I was thinking that they would eventually raise the rates!

We LOVE CSR (and buzz's site :-) ).

I'm so lucky it was the first Mod I stumbled upon before I knew anything about Disney!

Glad you had a great time--that resort really is coming into its own.

Thanks for this quick review! We have also only ever done values and decided to treat ourselves this year! After looking at CSR we decided the pool must be ours lol. This was before we even knew that they would be having renovations!! Needless to say I am beyond stoked to be able to stay somewhere so great for much less than the deluxes [they seem so far out of our price range].

My only question is. What are the least expensive rooms like? I know each section has a different price range.

The only difference in price is between standard view, waterview, king bed and suites. There is no different between Casitas, Cabanas and Ranchos as far as pricing is concerned.

Deluxe hotels do NOT have exterior corridors.. enough said LOL!

It's a nice hotel, but Disney "Deluxes" aren't real deluxe hotels and this one isn't up to those standards!

Glad you had such an enjoyable trip! Out of curiosity, have you used the dining plan in the past? If so, how did you like using the Quick Service DP over the regular one?

We had the dining plan last year and will be using the QSDP this year. Thanks!

So all the rooms are the same size and what not? Just different views?? The whole different names [casitas, cabanas, ranchos] throws me off.. sorry if I am being daft!

Yes, the rooms are the same sizes unless they are a suite.

The Casitas is one section (with fountains/courtyards), the Ranchos are a rustic/ranch type setting and then the Cabanas represent Mexico's costal line.

All rooms have two queen beds unless they have a king bed. All rooms will have the new furnishings once the rehab is completed.

I hope this helps.

We've actually done both. The Quick Service is great for our short trips but I think I would get sick of counter service after awhile. When we go in June for a week we will definitely do the regular dining plan. There isn't a huge price difference between the both. :goodvibes

Nice room! And I like the fact that CSR has queen size beds rather than full and flat screen TV's. However, I think the rooms look too "business travel" for my Disney vacation tastes. Just my opinion.

I love the new rooms...and we will definitely consider CSR more on our next trip. The last time we stayed there, they were doing a lot of construction, and I HATED the decor of the rooms.

But the resort is so beautiful, and really does have a lot of the amenities that the deluxes have...except interior corridors.

Thanks for the quick feedback :thumbsup2. I certainly hope 8 days of counter service will be OK for us ;) Yeah... the price difference isn't what sold us on the QSDP... we ate WAYYYY too much last year and my DW doesn't want to be constrained by ADRs. I guess we'll see how it works out.

Thanks for the pictures! I love the new rooms. I think they are beautiful. I can't wait to see them in person in September. This is one of the many reasons we choose CSR--the rooms don't remind us of Disney 24/7. Don't get me wrong--we love Disney or we wouldn't go every year. But one of the reasons we don't stay at the values or some of the other resorts is that we don't need Disney in our face 24/7. We like to come back and relax--and the CSR is perfect for that.

The beds are VERY comfortable! As others have said, I think October is the completion date for the rooms. We went to the Casita section and noticed the rooms on the first floor were still the old decor. I really think the new decor is a great mix of Disney and Business. Some might say it's too business oriented, but their are hidden mickeys all over the new decor, everywhere you looked! My girls, 9 and 11, loved the decor as much as we did. Even with no balcony and exterior corridors, CSR is a great option for families looking for a deluxe feel and amenities without the huge price tag. It was weird, the rooms felt bigger to me even with the Queen beds, maybe because of the new lower dresser. :thumbsup2

WOW! My sister and I and my DD just stayed at CSR for free dining in 2007 and we loved it even then! I love the pictures and love the improvements. We were staying in Pop this year for free dining since we will need 2 rooms, but after seeing these new rooms, may just have to upgrade. We love that resort. Thanks so much for the pics and the review, it sounded wonderful!

That is so funny, Buzz. You know I was thinking the same thing. When we first walked into our room, I was like I don't remember seeing blankets on Buzz's pictures?? :rotfl: :rotfl: The blanket and roll pillow really bring the look all together. We went for the DVC tour and I noticed the Bay Lake Towers and AK Villas both had the same type of blanket at the end of the beds.

DS is getting married in June. They are going to be at Portofino at US for a week and then to WDW staying at CSR for a week.

What recommendations do you all have for rooms? I would love suggestions. His whole trip is all planned out and I am not even sure if his rooms were selected by his travel agent....but in any event I would just like to know where DISer's have stay at CSR and what/why they liked those rooms best!!!

Thanks for the report. After reading your report and Buzz's we've decided we definitely want to stay at CSR for our May 2010 trip. We tried to stay there in May 2006 but at first I was too early to book (tried in June 2005) and then by Oct. 2005 when I tried again, I was too late - no rooms left. I decided to try to beat the system this year and attempted a room only reservation this week but was told only Junior Suites and King rooms are available at this point - any ideas when I'll be able to get a 2 queen room-only ressie for May 2010? I know packages don't come out until August but I don't want to miss out again - especially after reading your reports!

Personally I love the cabanas section, the location is great. I always ask for a high floor, I don't like to hear people above me. If possible I try to get a corner room, the two windows make the room seem larger.

We've stayed at all the different sections and Cabana is our favorite. I like the beachy Cabana look with all the hammocks. The Casitas usually has a lot of convention goers (not always). Ranchos is nice but I'm not a huge fan of the cactus look. :goodvibes

I was dissapointed at first, because I really didn't know anything about the mods, but this looks like a beautiful resort, with all of the amenities of the deluxes. I'm worried about the blanket! It's very cute and matches the tble runner blanket trend I've seen at nice hotels lately but I'm afraid they're going to start disappearing? I hope not and like to think that wouldn't happen but I'm sure it does. Hopefully people behave and we all get to see them! The roll pillows are cute too... took me a couple looks at the picture to notice the hidden Mickey's on them. I'd love to buy some of that fabric!!

BTW, are these new photos of rooms in the Club Level? In conrer rooms, the 2nd window is in the place where the mirror goes so they moved the mirror closer to the bathroom. But yes, the desk is facing the first window.

THANKS for all of the info and pics!!! Looks like the place is really nice, this will be our 1st time staying onsite so we are really looking forward to it!! 8 wonderful nights! The only thing I have not decived on is the DDP, not too sure on the value other then the fact of it being prepaid..........:confused3

If you are thinking of eating at the resort at all you might want to consider one of the DDP's as the Pepper Market is quite expensive OOP but a great value on the DDP!

We are using the QSDP in 3 weeks :cool1: as I know if we eat at least a few meals in the pepper market (which we will do) will be ahead $$$!

I scheduled my stay about a month ago and will be staying at the CSR April 24-May 1. I didn't make any requests when I made the reservations mostly because I was too excited about the fact that I made reservations! :yay: My question is, is it too late to make requests now? It will be our first stay, heck our first trip to Disney and our first major trip as a family. Needless to say, I'm a little overwhelmed and a lot excited.

Thanks!

only been back a few weeks and I don't know how I'll wait until our Sept. trip. It seems like forever and I sure don't want to wish my summer away :guilty: .

My DH is still unsure about the "adultness" of CSR, but it looks like I'm going to get my way :goodvibes . For what we can afford, there is just no other Disney resort that compares - great pool, great bus service (mostly), and great food. After dealing with such poor buses and food at POR, I can't wait to show it off to my kids and parents. Its hard to get the elusive "Disney feeling" when you're waiting a looooong time for a bus at the end of the day or you're eating extremely greasy cheeseburgers or throwing away moldy cups left for you from mousekeeping :headache: . A few extra hidden Mickeys doesn't cover up the bad experiences :thumbsup2 .

Deluxe hotels do NOT have exterior corridors.. enough said LOL!

Ever stayed at a Sandals? Some of them have outdoor corridors. If I'm correct, many resorts in the Bahamas and Carribean have outdoor corridors. I'd consider some of them deluxe.

It's a nice hotel, but Disney "Deluxes" aren't real deluxe hotels and this one isn't up to those standards!

Why do you think they aren't real deluxes? Have you ever stayed at them? or off site deluxes? Id love to know your thoughts :teacher:

Im trying to decide between Poly and GF but if this place is that great and that much cheaper maybe i should try it.

No, Cabana 9B is available to resort guests if there is not a convention using it. You just don't get to use the Club Level services.

When I booked, the CM told me that 9B is only available if there is not a convention that has booked it. You might want to check to see if there is a convention there during your stay. I am sure Buzz and KatMark can provide the skinny on this, since we all know that the CMs don't always have the correct info.

Convention guests can still use the lounge while leisure guest have rooms in 9b. When I was in 9b, the first two days they had convention people using the lounge. My friend had to sneak me in after they left so I could check it out. So request 9b. What I usually ask for is cabana 9b or any cabana building.

You can fax the request - the number should be in the FAQ thread. Usually 2-3 days before is the best time, so I've heard.

Cabana 9B is closest, but all the Cabanas are within easy walking distance. We stayed in 8A on our last visit and cutting across the bridge it was 4-5 mins.

Love the blanket and rolll pillow, but I have to ask: do you think they are cleaned between guests?

I worked at a "luxury" hotel in the past and we had a problem with lice for months. The company finally decided it had to be the decorative pillows on the beds. They also believed that the pillows may have changed rooms because the lice seemed to spread on one floor. :scared:

It was too costly to steam clean the pillows every time guests checked out, and there just wasn't time. The pillows were replaced with ones that had removable covers that were changed between guests. I'm not certain this solved the problem, but I left shortly after.

One other problem I remember: a guest brought a throw pillow from her bed to the front desk to show me what she thought was dandruff (and it may have been). I didn't blame her one bit!

The rehab is scheduled to be done October 09. Therefore, by the time you go, they should be 3/4 of the way done if not more, so I think you should have a pretty good chance of nabbing a renovated room.

All of the Cabanas are done (8A and 8B, 9A and 9B); Ranchos 6A and 6B are complete (that leaves 7A and 7B to be done); the fourth floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are done; that leaves all other floors of 1, 2 and 3 and all of Casitas 4 and 5. Hey everyone :)

I'm sure this has been asked before - but does anyone know if all the King Size / Water View Rooms have been renovated ? We are travelling for MNSSHP Sept 19-25th and have booked a King Room and requested a renovated room but of course it is not guaranteed.

Are only certain sections renovated? For people that requested certain renovated areas did you just request 'a renovated room' or did you have to request a certain section to get it ? Is there anyone out there who requested a renovated room but didn't get it upon arrival ?

Thanks for any info :) !

Someone on the resort board just did a review and they had a king room, renovated (it was not waterview, I don't think). Since you are not going until September 19-25, I think you should be okay. The rehab is supposed to be done by October 09 so most of the rehab should be done by then.

As of now, all of the Cabanas are done; Ranchos 6A and 6B are done; the 4th floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are done. They have now started on Casitas 4.
