I don't feel quite so embarrassed in these forums to admit this, but these are the kinds of conversations we have around the dinner table.

Anyway, we asked the kids what their favorite character meal was. DS8 had the best response....

"Mickey waffles!" (said with much gusto!)

They are SOOO literal sometimes!

Based on food quality? Character interaction quality? Or Both?

:)

My gut instinct is to say Liberty Tree Tavern because of the character interaction,

BUT they don't have a charachter meal there anymore...sooooo

My second favorite is probably Akershus with the princesses :)

I'm such a little kid at heart :lovestruc

Oh, food quality. This kid is our adventureous eater - he will eat, or try, just about anything. He loves shrimp, and he will eat capers if they're part of a dish.

It has been a while but just for the two of us(we don't have any kids) we enjoyed the garden grill. But if I remember right there were only chip and dale there(those filler characters)

Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's are both fun, but the food quality is a bit better at Crystal Palace (at least for dinner, never done breakfast at either).

Edit: at Garden Grille, we had Mickey and Pluto stop by :)

Ok now I think I remember Mickey but it has been a couple of years so my mind is kinda fuzzy.

Crystal Palace was also one of my favorites. We really enjoyed it because of the range of food; we were both able to find things that we liked, and it had pretty good character interaction for kids.

I love your DS's answer!

We like breakfast at Crystal Palace. They are reliably decent food, a fair enough variety and a its reasonably priced by Disney standards. We have always had great character interaction as well. We also like being able to get a pre-opening ADR. An empty Main Street is just COOL!

We were last @ GG in Jan 2006. We were visited by Mickey Mouse and Pluto and those other guys.. Chip and Dale.

We really enjoyed ourselves. The food was good, plentiful, and suited all of our needs (kiddies to adult).

We have ressies there for our upcoming trip.

Yea...I've become a big fan of Tusker House. The choices and freshness of food seems better there even at breakfast. I've noticed they keep changing out the food whether it needs it or not. It makes a big difference.

Cape May at the Beach Club! Really good food, not as chaotic as some character meals, great character interaction (Minnie, Goofy and Donald at this point, used to be Chip and Dale, no Donald) and LOVE the beach costumes the characters wear.

I personally enjoyed the food from Ackerhous, but I think my kids had the most fun at the DHS Playhouse breakfast.

I enjoyed the breakfast and characters (Mary Poppins and Alice) at 1900 Park Faire. :goodvibes

At the DLR, I'm a sucker for dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. I know DH (ScubaD) gets tired of doing pantomime gestures to the costumed characters, but the food is actually good and filling! :lovestruc

Have a nice day everyone. :)

Crystal Palace
Ohana - just because I love Lilo & Stitch

I want to try 1900 Park Faire with Cinderella. I didn't know there was a Playhouse Disney character breakfast.

We had a great character experience at Garden Grill. They visited us several times, were very involved, lots of laughs, etc.

BUT - the food was just okay. I mean, we could eat it, but it wasn't terribly memorable. The warm apple bread pudding was the exception; it was very tasty and our thoughtful server (who was FABULOUS - her name was Janelle) brought me seconds, bless her.

We've eaten there twice, and the food was sort of blah both times, but the character involvement was fantastic.

Akershus is great, both for food and characters.

I really love Crystal Palace -- I think they have the best food for a character meal. However, my favorite character meal memories are all of eating breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at Ohana. So, I think Ohana might win in the end if I had to pick just one.

During the next trip we're going to try breakfast at CRT (have eaten dinner there many times over the years) or 1900 PF. Haven't decided yet. After reading the thread, I may have to add Cape May to my list also.

Mmm, we love a bunch of them, but I would say top 3 for us:

Akershush for Breakfast
Park Faire for Dinner
Chef Mickey's - any meal really - it's just a fun atmosphere!

Crystal Palace for lunch or dinner. We've had less than stellar service, but the food and characters are awesome. I like being able to catch a glimpse of the castle and I find it less chaotic/loud/crazy than Chef Mickey's. I'm only child, who's now in college, and Chef Mickey's and Ohana's always seem to have activities that encourage small children to scream (Please note: this is not a comment on the children involved, but rather on the activities they are provided with by the restaurant).

We always had a blast at Liberty Tree Tavern, Garden Grill and Donald's breakfast

but I would have to say the best character interaction meal we ever had was when 1900 Park Fare had the villian dinner - I could hardly eat, I was laughing so hard, while watching the antics they were pulling on my daughter - especially Captain Hook
