View Full Version : Sharing meals on DDP?
Are you allowed to share your meal on the DDP with someone who is not on DDP?
Here's our situation.... MIL lives in FL and usually joins us for a couple days when we go to Disney. If we decide to do DDP on our next trip, would we be allowed to order 2 meals (which = # of people on the ressie) and share them between the 3 of us? I know you aren't allowed to use credits to order meals for people not on DDP, but in this case MIL would not be ordering her own meal, she'd be sharing ours.
Or, alternately, if she is staying in the room with us for 2 nights, can we add DDP for her for those 2 nights? If so would she still be able to get FL resident rate for her park tickets?

The WDW literature says you may not use your DDP credits to purchase meals for persons who are not on your DDP package.
You cannot add a partial dining plan - everyone listed on your room reservation must purchase the dining plan for all nights of that reservation. You'd also have to buy her the same park tickets you are buying if you list her as part of your package.

My in laws will be with us for 2 nights at the Poly and my DH and I are on the dining plan. They will pay OOP for the one table service they are going to eat with us. Who says that we can't all sample each other's entrees.

At table service, have Mom order an appetizer and a beverage; you & DH order your entrees as usual. Once the food's delivered to the table the food police will not be slapping hands that reach on other's plates.:thumbsup2

I know this, that's why I was asking if MIL could just share our meals. We would not be using our DDP credits to purchase a meal for her. We'd use 2 DDP credits to purchase 2 meals, and then just share them among 3 people.

Thanks for this info!

There is no indication that sharing meals officially will or won't be permitted. The DIS does not advocate violating the rules of the dining plan by purchasing meals for persons not on your plan, but this is a gray area. Best answer is that you will have to ask at the restaurant when you get there.
