View Full Version : What deals are there for DVC owners?

We are planning a trip for May this year, and are DVC members. As I'm scouring the web, I see all kinds of deals about stay for 7 nights, pay for 4. Which is great if you aren't DVC - because I already have my hotel/villa paid for and reserved. In the past, I've seen things about free meal plans for off-season, and we can't use these either.

So, maybe I'm not thinking about this right, maybe I'm spoiled and selfish. I've seen comments like "If you are paying full price to go to Disney this year, you are paying too much." But, since I have my DVC villa, how can I take advantage of some of this?

At this point, all I really need are park tickets and meal plans, so I figure I'll just end up paying full price for those anyway. (2 adults, one child will be $800 for 7 days of tickets and $700 for meal plan).

I'm also worried about the whole "What are you celebrating?" theme. DH is graduating from medical school, and this is how we are celebrating. I feel like someone from Disney should be asking "Are you celebrating anything during your visit" when I make my reservations, but everything seems to be the same.

Am I missing out on anything? Or am I just being selfish by asking "What's in it for me?"

Thanks, Audrey

you could bank your pts and pay cash this year.

otherwise, this is just one of those tradeoffs of making a commitment with DVC...your price is low but it's fixed. if you want them to court you and treat you extra special...your expectations may be a little high...

Thanks Charles. I think that was the answer I was expecting. I appreciate your honesty.

I think I probably posted too soon. I just ran all the numbers, and depending on how you look at it, DVC is a good deal.
With DVC -
Room (annual fee) - $700
Meal plan - $700
Tickets - $800
Flights - $600
Total - $2800

I put the same room and information into the Disney online planner, and the total was over $6,000.

For over $3000 savings, I'll forego the extra special treatment. Disney is special enough, and I can do some extras on the side for DH.

Thanks,
Audrey
