Hey everybody! Can't believe our trip has come and gone already! Lauren and I got home this past Friday night and are missing WDW terribly! We've been playing that game: last week, at this time we were doing __________ at WDW!:sad2: Well, hopefully this trip report will help keep the Disney magic alive a little longer.....

As the title suggests, my youngest daughter, Lauren is turning 13 VERY SOON! I thought what better way to celebrate such a milestone birthday then to have a special trip together to Disneyworld! She was thrilled!

For any first time readers, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm a single mom with two wonderful daughters: Amanda who is 14, turning 15 this summer; and Lauren, the soon-to-be teenager. I'm a DVC member so my girls and I are fortunate enought to travel to WDW every year together. Our favorite time of year to go is the late fall - hopefully catching the Christmas decorations. We had just come back from our last trip together this past November. Here's a pix of my girls and I (and some friends):

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyNov08/image337.jpg

Usually when we take our trips, Amanda requires most of my attention - which doesn't allow me the ability to do alot with Lauren. That's why I've really come to appreciate these smaller one-on-one trips that she and I have taken. This mom/daughter trip is actually our second one - the link to the first one is in my siggie. It is such a completely different trip when it is just the two of us - and, more importantly, the focus is more on her - which I think she really deserves because she is such a tremendous kid and a thoughtful, caring sister.:lovestruc

Here's a pic of the two of us from our first mom/daughter trip in June 2008:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyJune08/DSC02555.jpg

I scheduled this trip two weeks before Lauren turns 13 - during her winter break. We were staying at the SSR for three nights: 2/15-2/18; then checking into the BW (our home resort and all-time fave WDW resort) 2/18-2/20.

So I hope I find some interested readers and my friends from past reports find me here! Coming up for the first installment.........

DAY ONE: NOT EVERYTHING GOES AS PLANNED!

Our departure day was Sunday, Feb. 15th; 7:45 am flight on JetBlue, flying nonstop out of Boston. I had booked a car service to take us to the airport; but instead of a private car, I reserved a "shared" van - which meant some other party could be riding to the airport with us. Wasn't crazy about doing this but it was about half of what a private car would have cost, which means the money I'm saving could be spent in Disneyworld! And, no - driving myself WAS NOT an option. Anyone who is from this area can tell you how absolutely horrendous the parking at Logan airport is. I just didn't want to deal!

Having a shared van now meant that we would be picked up slightly earlier - 4:30 am to be exact. UGH! My girls and I are not morning people, but we will make exceptions for our vacations to WDW. Amanda was going to be spending the week at her dad's - he picked her up after school on Friday. Lauren had a double-header basketball game late sat. afternoon. We came home, she showered and we went out for a quick bite to eat. It was over dinner that I noticed she was starting to sound very stuffy. She was getting a cold! Healthy all winter so far and she's getting sick now? She said she felt fine though so I was hoping it would pass. Nope - she just got stuffier as the night went on. My plan to get to bed early was not working out - Lauren couldn't breathe through her nose and she was uncomfortable laying down. On top of that, the Jonas Brothers were appearing on Saturday Night Live (oh - did I mention the Jonas Brothers obsession in this house?); it was almost 11pm and she suggested putting the tv on to watch. As you can imagine, she didn't fall asleep until after midnight - conveniently after the Jonas Brothers' two skits and one song performance. (I think that was her plan all along!)

As for me, I didn't fall asleep until closer to 12:30am; and being the worry-wart that I am, woke up at 2:45am because I was afraid of sleeping through the alarm. So I basically got a total of a little over 2 hours of sleep. Mmm - maybe I'll sleep on the plane? So I jumped in the shower, fiddled around on the computer, checked the Fla.weather for the bazillion time, and threw some more unnecessary clothes into our suitcase. It was now finally 4am and I woke up Lauren - who was very tired and still very congested. The shared van I was expecting wound up being a private car afterall - there was no one else going to the airport at that time so we had a car to ourselves. GREAT - but do you think they could have then picked us up later? No, they were there 4:30 on the dot -- and we were at the airport by 5:10am --- 2 hours and 35 minutes before our flight! Ok I needed Starbucks and I needed it NOW! Evidently so did Lauren.............

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03974.jpg

No - it's not a coffee drink; it's a chocolately choc.chip blended creme frappuccino. She likey!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03973.jpg

Lauren enjoyed her drink; I enjoyed my mocha valencia; and we waited. And waited. And waited. I was bored so I took a pic of our plane sitting out on the cold dark runway................
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03976.jpg

We finally started boarding by 7:15am. We have never flown JetBlue and Lauren was excited to have the tv sets at our seats. They proved to be useless because, quite frankly, at that ungodly hour on a sunday morning, there is absolutely nothing on tv! Oh well, we both had our ipods! (no, neither of us slept!)

We landed in Orlando by 11am - a half hour earlier than expected. Now we were really happy campers. Here's our first ride -- the Orlando airport monorail:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03977.jpg

Views of the lovely Orlando airport. As you can see, it wasn't the sunniest of days but who cares? Dreary weather in Orlando is better than dreary weather anywhere else!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03979.jpg

Since we were seated in row 9, we were off the plane pretty quickly. We headed down to Magical Express and were thrilled to see a not-too-long a line!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03980.jpg

By 11:30, we were on a line waiting for our Magical Express bus to take us to Saratoga Springs. And who do you think kept us entertained on the televisions that Disney has playing in the waiting area? The Jonas Brothers!

Pretty soon, our magical bus arrived...............

Ready to watch the video!

Entering my happy place:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03989.jpg

We were pulling into SSR by 12:30pm............
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03991.jpg

So this is my first experience staying at SSR and I'm sad to report it did not start off well at all. My original game plan was to check in; walk around & explore the resort, get some lunch at Artist's Palette; and then hopefully be in our room by 2-2:30. I wanted to be able to freshen up before we headed over to the GF for Lauren's 4pm hair braiding appt., and then into MK for the night. (it was pm EMH and they were going to be open until 3AM!)

I was a little underwhelmed by the check-in area - nothing too spectacular, but it went smoothly. I had requested Congress Park w/a view of DTD which I was told I was getting. They gave me a card w/phone # to check to see if my room was ready; Lauren and I decided to get something to eat before we walked around the property. Again, I was very underwhelmed by AP here. It seems to have a similiar menu to Roaring Forks at WL; but both Lauren and I felt the food at Roaring Forks was much better.

Here's Lauren's chicken nuggets w/chips (no option for fries):
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03992.jpg

And my turkey/brie on grilled whole grain bread, I believe:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03993.jpg

Now, I don't know if it's fair to compare, but Roaring Forks offers similiar items. Here's what they looked like:

chicken nuggets w/fries (sorry, half-eaten):
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyJune08/DisneyFood/DSC02603.jpg

turkey and brie on foccaccia bread w/pasta salad side:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyJune08/DisneyFood/DSC02776.jpg

See what I mean? Just very underwhelming.

Anyway, after lunch we decided to walk around a bit. Again, I'm not used to staying at a resort like this; I'm so used to the BW and I found this place confusing. Since it was now 1:30, I suggested we find Congress Park and call the front desk once we got over there - hoping that our room would be ready. No go. So we hung out on a bench overlooking DTD and waited. I called every 20 minutes; room still wasn't ready. By this time it was almost 2:30 and I was really worrying we would miss the hair-braiding appt. so I called over to the GF to push the appt. back. Well, good thing I callled; the girl that does the hair braiding had called out sick that day and they wouldn't be able to take Lauren. Thank goodness I didn't waste the trip over there. We re-scheduled for the next afternoon for 3pm. This was throwing off our schedule for that day a little but Lauren really likes the hair-do and I just figured we'd make it work.

It was approaching 3pm and Lauren was absolutely miserable. You know when you have a really bad head cold and you just want to lie down? That's all she wanted to do. And now it was starting to drizzle. We now had to walk back to the Carriage House and wait for the room to be ready. Well, when we got there we discovered a few other families just as miserable as us - and waiting just as long for a room. Seriously, that waiting area was full. One of the dads was just LIVID; he had his wife and infant and they had been waiting since noon for a room. Evidently the staff told them they were not prepared for the timing of everyone checking in - whatever the heck that means. He was really making a stink about it. I mean, we were all talking and we know - Disney does say check-in by 4pm; but we all agreed - we never had to wait over 2 hours for a room to be ready. Anyway, FINALLY - at 3:30 I was told our room was ready! We had a first floor studio with a DTD view:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03996.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03998.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03995.jpg

Our view of DTD (disappointed w/the trees blocking). I'll have more view shots later:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03997.jpg

Lauren quickly assumed her position - watching her favorite television show on Disney resort tv - STACY and the top 7 Disney attractions:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC03999.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04000.jpg

So it was 3:30; Lauren was exhausted and not feeling that great; and MK was open until 3am - and we really wanted to stay as late as possible. So I made a very parental decision - I told Lauren to take a nap; it would do her a world of good to get a few hours of sleep. As long as we got to MK by 8pm, we would still have PLENTY of time to do things; plus, my thinking was that, the later it got, the emptier it would get. She didn't really argue much with me about this plan:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04002.jpg

Next installment.........what time do we make it to MK? And how late do we stay?

Hi, I just finished reading your last report and it was amazing :) I love your daughter--she's such a cutie!!(She reminds me of herself when I was her age--i'm only 16--so not too far off.) I went in June of 2008 also with my grandparents and my brother and we stayed at Saratoga Springs. I get what you mean with the whole waiting for a room thing--we checked in at 3:15 and our room wasn't ready until 5--which totally ruined our plans for heading to hollywood studios for dinner. Anyways--we stayed at the carousel...when you're on the bus and you stop at the carousel, you would look directly to your left and you'll see our building--we were on the top floor. Anyways--I know what you mean about Disney withdrawl--it's been 8 months and i'm dying out here in cold weathered michigan...Ahhhh...I cannot wait 5 more months to go again....this time we're staying at AKL....well, hope you had fun on your trip and btw I subscribed--can't wait to hear more...Thanks, Deva (Dayva)

i'm sorry you didn't like SSR. i LOVE it. i love how it's big and all spread out and you can just take a walk and take it all in. but of course we didn't have the problems with check-in that you had - we spent our first day at AK and didn't leave the park until around 4:00 so we didn't have to wait for our room to be ready. at least you got a DTD view. i don't think the trees block your view at all! here was our view:

we had trees too but i still loved the view, especially at night.

we never ate at artist's palette so i can't comment on that from personal experience. if we were hungry and at the resort we'd just walk over to wolfgang puck express - i love that place!!!

i guess it's good that we all don't like the same resorts because it would be pretty hard to get a reservation at one if we did! :rotfl:

Oh wow - AKL! I hear that's gorgeous! Another DVC I'd like to try some day!

And yeah, our plans got a little screwy because of the later check-in, but things did get better and I think, looking back, it might have been a blessing in disguise.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you! Fortunately, she didn't get any worse. Unfortunately I had to spend $8 on a box of sudafed from the gift shop to help her get over the congestion the first few days!

I did take some later pix and the view was amazing - especially at night. I just couldn't get enough of the view at night. It's just hard to really like a place like SSR when you love the BW so much. They are two entirely different set-ups. Things did improve after our first day and I really did like the location of our room; had no problems with the buses (unlike at the BW) and it was very quiet. I guess, with kids, I just like the hustle and bustle that the BW offers.

And - I did get a chance to finally try WPE! OMG - soooooo good! I had never been to DTD for lunch before and I appreciated getting over to do that!

Yayyy you started! :yay: :yay:

OMG - lightning struck your plane? YIKES! That would have been my excuse to turn right around and go back to Disney! And yes, I remember that day - pouring rain and thunder and lightning. I had never been in Disney for a thunderstorm before!

Yeah! Another trippie! Can't wait to see Lauren's braids.

Have you ever considered coming down to RI and taking Southwest. It is not a bad drive and its a breeze to park!!!

Braids should be in the next installment or two.

As for SW - we did fly out of Providence for our trip last June. I love that airport so much more than Logan but have to admit, I had alot of anxiety over SW's no seat assignments. I'm so anal and that really bothered me!

I followed your link over from Alan's PTR. I have looked over some of your other reports after they were finished so I am excited to be in on this one from the ground floor. I am glad you got to do another mom and daughter birthday trip this year and can not wait to read more!

HI Cammie! I'm finally here! I started over here earlier, then got busy PMing you and forgot to come over.

I'm sorry you weren't impressed with SSR. That's my home resort. I don't have anything to compare, except for the bad customer service at AKL. At SSR our rooms were ready when we got in at 4pm, and we got just what we wanted - I'm always pleasantly surprised when the room is ready on time, because I've read so many TRs where its not. At DLR our room wasn't ready until 5:30! We had checked in at 2pm.

As for the food, I think its pretty generic at all the CS. I've seen the same items on alot of the menus. I was also underwhelmed at Artist's Palette, but I LOVE the flatbread pizza!

Funny, you are excited about the hustle and bustle of BW, and that's why I wasn't sure I would want to be there - I like to get away from it all - and SSR is really away!:thumbsup2 I do want to stay at BW sometime, for the closeness to Epcot and DHS!

I hope Lauren gets better and things look up for you! Can't wait to see your late night MK!

I loved your past reports so I'm back again to read along!! I'm so sorry she had to start the trip off sick!! Poor thing!!! I hope the nap helped and things get better!!

Welcome and thanks for reading! And, yes, as you'll see - the nap did wonders!

Terrific first installment!! Can't wait for more!! :thumbsup2

Hope you girls got plenty of rest before hitting MK for EMH!

Hi Alan! Glad you're here! And, well, ONE of us got some rest before those EMHs!

I'm here Cammie! Great first chapter. Poor Lauren getting a cold. I hope she felt better after her nap.

So, the big question..... did you try the Grand Marnier slush in France and was it wonderful? I should just wait for your TR, but I'm leaving for the World in 2 days (:cool1: ) and don't want to have to wait a whole week to know the answer to this all important question!!:lmao:

TWO DAYS? You're so lucky! I know I just got back but I miss it so much already! And, yes, I did try the Grand Marnier slushie; and I LOVED it! Now I have a dilemna - the Citron Slushie was always my first drink of choice when I get to Epcot, now I don't know what to choose! They're both very different tasting: Citron slushie is very citrus-y; gr.marnier slushie is more creamier. Guess I'll just have to make sure I get both each time now!:thumbsup2

Have a great trip!

Looks like it was a good nap- think I'll go take an 8 hour one myself! :faint: She really does look so cozy in the blankees!!

Now I KNOW the trip is all :cheer2: from here on- right?:goodvibes

Oh yes - you KNOW the trip just got better. Really, SSR was fine; just not my cup of tea. And with the problems with check-in, we just did not get off to a great start. But things did get better and I was liking it a little more by day 2.

Hi Cammie! :wave2: Great 1st installment! I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip. :goodvibes

Yeah - glad you found me!

Hey Tammie! I guess technically, SSR did check us in on time - it was by 4pm afterall. I was just hoping to get the room sooner because we had gotten there at 12:30. I am glad they were able to accommodate my request of a room with a great view. And I did appreciate the resort's proximity to DTD - as you'll see later in the report.

Hi! :wave2: Signing on and looking forward to more. You're off to a great start!! Sorry Lauren wasn't feeling well. Hopefully the nap did its job and chased that cold away! popcorn::

Hi! Glad you're on board for another one of my TRs! And, you'll see - the nap did do wonders for her!

i'm here too! Love the pictures. It's the closest I'll get to WDW for another 2 years but can't wait to hear more. Do you think the late check in had anything to do with the budget cuts they made last week? I read that they were going to change things up immediately. I'm hoping that this isn't a sign of what/how they've changed things to save money :(

Anyway can't wait to read more.

Also, we are trying the BWV for the first time over the 4th of July and we CANNOT wait!! Looking forward to more!!:goodvibes

Hey Laura! Thanks for coming over! I'm not so sure the late check-in had anything to do w/budget cuts; I did see plenty of other people getting their rooms. Most of us that were left waiting the longest had requested Congress Park - so maybe they were short-staffed w/housekeeping services over there?:confused3

I last left off with Lauren sleeping soundly under the covers. I was glad she fell asleep so quickly - I knew she needed it. And so did I! But I was afraid to go to sleep because I knew Magical Express would probably be delivering our luggage shortly. I mean, it was now 4pm and our flight had landed before 11am. I started to get pretty sleepy and, I think at one point, I did close my eyes for a little while but not for long. By 5:15, our luggage was delivered. Well, I couldn't sleep now - there were suitcases that needed to be unpacked afterall. Yes, that's my anal-ness creeping in -- I just HAVE to unpack!

By the time I was done unpacking, I had gotten my second wind. Sleep was now out of the question. I decided to let Lauren sleep until 6:30. I figured if we could be out of the room by 7 and to MK by 7:30pm, we could get through Main Street before much of the 8pm Spectro crowd started lining up.

My little girl woke up feeling much better! Still stuffy but well-rested; she was ready to go within minutes...........

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04003.jpg

She's probably wearing the birthday button she was given at check-in. She was so excited for the extra attention she knew was awaiting her! We had no problem getting a bus - and getting a seat on the bus - and were in MK by 7:30 - just as I had hoped! Man, I love that first step onto Main Street!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04004.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04005.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04007.jpg

Some crowds had started to line up for the Spectro parade but it was by no means mobbed yet. Lauren and I made our way down Main Street very easily. We wanted to stop at Casey's for dinner and then head over to Adventureland and Frontierland. Readers from my previous reports may remember that Lauren has an unhealthy obsession with Casey's and their cheese fries. It was a no-brainer where we would have dinner tonite. We ordered the usual - two hot dog meals w/fries and plenty of cheese sauce:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04008.jpg

We were on the dining plan so also got "dessert" with the meal. The CM noticed Lauren's birthday button and threw in an extra brownie!

Lauren's a happy girl!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04009.jpg

While we were eating, I could hear that Spectro had started. We weren't concerned with seeing it being that we had seen it during our last two trips. We finished quickly; slid out the side door towards the Crystal Palace - where we encountered our first photopass photographer!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04010.jpg

After the photo op., we headed into Adventureland. First ride on the agenda: The Jungle Cruise!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04013.jpg

We walked right on and got seats up front:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04015.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04019.jpg

The last one is what our "pose" of the week was - I'll have more on that later!

We then hopped over to POTC and once again, walked right on. I'm thinking there weren't long lines at this point because of the parade. Whatever the reason, we were thrilled! After Pirates, we headed over to BTMRR (no, Lauren wanted NOTHING to do with Splash Mtn. tonite!). BTMRR had a 20 minute stand by wait, but the FP were to come back in an hour; we decided to FP it and head over to Haunted Mansion. At this point, Wishes had started. We stopped on that little walkway along the water for some pix:

Another lurker coming out of the shadows...I read your last TR and the PTR for this one. You and your daughters really know how to enjoy Disney. Great update! Love your headbands-- and your sweatshirt!! You are the 2nd person to mention Casey's cheese fries to me today... I'm going to have to try them. That's right, I've never tried them. :scared:

Great ride mojo you have going on with minimal waiting time. Jungle Cruise at night is on my to-do list. It's supposed to be very different at night vs. day.

Glad Lauren was feeling better. :goodvibes

Cammie,

Great Trip Report so far. I have been a lurker on your other trip reports and followed you over here. It's great that you and Lauren can take these Mother/Daughter trips together. My daughter is almost 26 and married but we are going to be taking our 3rd Father/Daughter trip in June. I'm hope Lauren will remember these trips and still want to take them with you when she gets older too.:goodvibes

We were now done with Adventureland and Frontierland; it was on to Fantasyland! So far, we were having great luck with no lines; of course, what ride do you think would still have a long wait? Peter Pan! What is it with that ride? There are ALWAYS long lines! We decided to skip it for now and come back later. We led us to...........It's a Small World!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04045.jpg
Wow - she has some tired looking eyes, doesn't she?

We then moved on to Cinderella's Carousel - something I don't think we've ridden since Lauren was 4 yrs. old!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04060.jpg

We caught a viewing of Mickey's Philharmagic and then headed over to Toontown; rode Goofy's Barnstormer and then visited Minnie's house.

Lauren made herself comfortable:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04064.jpg

While I searched for some snacks:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04067.jpg
(I'm thinking Minnie isn't lactose intolerant!)

Finally found some popcorn:

And this print cracks me up!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04065.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04063.jpg

It was now 12:35 am and I was starting to doubt I could make it to 3am. I was feeling tired. But we pushed on - Pooh's ride was next:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04070.jpg

We went over to check out Buzz, but believe it or not, there was a line! It didn't look too long, but it was almost 1am and I was NOT waiting on any lines! We decided to make our way back to Frontierland to ride Lauren's favorite again - BTMRR. Along the way, we stopped to ride Snow White and Peter Pan - which finally had no line!

We made another quick stop into Haunted Mansion then it was on to Big Thunder Mountain - which we rode 5 TIMES IN A ROW! Seriously I was getting a headache but Lauren was loving it! After the second time, it was becoming quite humorous because the CMs were remembering us. They would see Lauren and act surprised - "Hey Happy Birthday Lauren! How are old you? Let me guess - 13?"

Ok, now I was dragging! It was approaching 2am and I suggested we start making our way towards the exit. I must admit though - Magic Kingdom at 2am is a beautiful thing!

You find characters hanging out all alone in corners:

Am I the only one here? Anyways, 5 TIMES! Lucky ducks! There was always at least a 30 minute standby whenever we checked! That's awesome! :woohoo:

I can understand why you were dragging. I always get pretty tired, and then we're like, "Oh, there's no line for this, let's just do it real quick." :rolleyes1

So it was 2:15 in the morning and we finally decided to head back to Saratoga Springs. I was very happy we lasted as long as we did! It's so fun to be in MK that late and it's even funnier (well to me at least) to hear all the CMs wish you a "good morning" as you're walking out!:goodvibes

I'll end this installment with the many, many pictures I took of the castle. I was surprised by how many I had - I just think it's so beautiful though. You can never have enough castle pix!

I think it's great that you're able to take Lauren by herself on occasion, it's good to have that one-on-one time with Mom. Looking forward to reading the rest.

Hi and welcome! :wave2: I so love these one on one trips too! Hope we can make it a yearly event!

:goodvibes

I've had that sweatshirt for over 12 years now! A friend bought it back for me from her WDW honeymoon when I was 6 months pregnant with Lauren. It's so big but soooo comfortable! And - add those cheese fries to your must-try list! Sooo good!

That is so sweet you are still taking those special trips with your daughter. I read Lauren your comment and asked if she would still do that with me; she said ABSOLUTELY! (I'm going to get it in writing and hold her to it!)

No, you haven't missed it. I've just been buried in school work and chores. :sad2: But I will soon upload the pictures and get that baby going! :cheer2:

Glad Lauren was feeling great and ready to rock!
Oh my gosh. I always pose like your picture on Aladdin! It's like, the best pose eva! :cutie:
Those cheese fries are SO good. :worship:
Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Looking forward to the serene shots! :lmao:

Ha!Ha! You make me laugh with your comment about the Aladdin pose! Lauren does it MUCH BETTER - as you'll see throughout the TR!

And that's exactly how we were at the end of the night - so exhausted but always doing just one more ride! How could we not?

Glad to see I at least haven't missed the start of your TR. Keep me posted!

What a great start and I think I counted 7 times on BTMRR:cool1:

I giggled at the pics of Casey's as I knew exactly where you would be eating at and what it would be. ;)

It sounds like the trip is already turning around!!:goodvibes

Yes - in total, it was 7 times! And you know we hit it again our next time at MK - along with Casey's!;)

Great post as usual! Can't wait for hair braiding!

I feel like I'm posting too much.

No such thing. As long as you enjoy what you're reading, I certainly don't mind!:goodvibes

We finished quickly; slid out the side door towards the Crystal Palace - where we encountered our first photopass photographer!

cool that you got a spectro float in the background! that looks like one of the first floats with the guys with the horns.

Let me guess - 13?"

i love that they do stuff like this! we had a HILARIOUS CM at the osborne lights - you'll have to see what he did to luke when i get to that part.

What a fantastic Night at MK! I am a night owl so I can totally imagine having a late night at MK someday with my kids! (they are too little now... I have a while to wait). Glad that Lauren felt better after a nap... I think naps at WDW are extra refreshing!

i'm here too!

Oh, I hope not. 4pm is pretty late anyway - most hotels have 3pm.

Ladies & Gentlemen......Readers of all ages.......Hear Ye.....Hear Ye.....

NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY does the MK like Cammie and Lauren!! :rotfl2: You girls absolutely get the MOST out of your time at MK. That PM EMH is the way to go. Thank God Lauren got a little afternoon rest before going! And who is she texting in the middle of the night? :sad2:

I did not see the dinner at Casey's coming! (sarcasm) You KNOW I am a hotdog junkie, and I have never eaten at Casey's. On our upcoming trip in May, DS and I are eating dinner at Tony's at 6pm...and then we are going to stay for the PM EMH. I am thinking that by 11pm or so, I'll be ready for a late night snack!.....Hmm....maybe that will be my first Casey's experience! Oddly enough, DS does not like hotdogs. (Can you believe that? I'm not even sure he's my child!?!) BUT, he is ALL ABOUT some cheese fries.

I think it's cool that Lauren likes It's a Small World - I don't think I could pay DS to go on it. (He says that song annoys him!)

Seriously, we are loving your report....as always! Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Alrighty. Caught up for now! I love reading about the trip! Lauren looked so much better after the nap - good call mom! A LINE at 1 am? Another good call!

I've debated Casey's. Nicolas puked hotdogs at Rainforest 2 years ago and still remembers and won't touch them - but like Lauren, he could go head first into some cheese fries! :rotfl2:

All caught up and loving it! I have a bazillion things to comment on. I *tried* to limit myself. :lmao:

Having a shared van now meant that we would be picked up slightly earlier - 4:30 am to be exact. UGH!

:headache: that is a killer. but SO worth it for WDW!

It was over dinner that I noticed she was starting to sound very stuffy. She was getting a cold! Healthy all winter so far and she's getting sick now? She said she felt fine though so I was hoping it would pass. Nope - she just got stuffier as the night went on.

Eep. Not good!

As you can imagine, she didn't fall asleep until after midnight - conveniently after the Jonas Brothers' two skits and one song performance. (I think that was her plan all along!)

:rotfl: She's a smart girl!

Again, I was very underwhelmed by AP here. It seems to have a similiar menu to Roaring Forks at WL; but both Lauren and I felt the food at Roaring Forks was much better.

I TOTALLY agree! I really liked Roaring Forks at WL, they have a bit better options and the food is much better! AP was very disappointing for me as well! What is up with no fries or burgers?! Salads, flatbreads and sandwiches. Booooooring.

Again, I'm not used to staying at a resort like this; I'm so used to the BW and I found this place confusing.

It IS confusing. It took us a while to get our bearings too. It's huge!

Whew! I'm glad you called. That would have been such a pain, esp when Lauren wasn't feeling well.

It was approaching 3pm and Lauren was absolutely miserable. You know when you have a really bad head cold and you just want to lie down? That's all she wanted to do. And now it was starting to drizzle.

Of course. It has to rain too! :headache:

Well, when we got there we discovered a few other families just as miserable as us - and waiting just as long for a room. Seriously, that waiting area was full. One of the dads was just LIVID; he had his wife and infant and they had been waiting since noon for a room. Evidently the staff told them they were not prepared for the timing of everyone checking in - whatever the heck that means. He was really making a stink about it. I mean, we were all talking and we know - Disney does say check-in by 4pm; but we all agreed - we never had to wait over 2 hours for a room to be ready.

That is AWFUL. Ugh! A gal on my TR mentioned that she and her family, including a 1 year old, had to wait until 7 PM at SSR once! That is so incredibly uncalled for!

My little girl woke up feeling much better! Still stuffy but well-rested; she was ready to go within minutes...........

:yay: Glad to hear she is feeling better!

It was a no-brainer where we would have dinner tonite. We ordered the usual - two hot dog meals w/fries and plenty of cheese sauce:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04008.jpg

Yummmmmm!

We were on the dining plan so also got "dessert" with the meal. The CM noticed Lauren's birthday button and threw in an extra brownie!

Freebie #1!

I love all your MK shots - it really shows how great of a time you two had! And all the rides with no lines!!!!!! Incredible! I have a scheme going in my head for our December trip should they offer these late EMH! :rolleyes1

Your "pose of the week" cracked me up. I love it! You are such a fun Mom! I bet all of Lauren's friends think you are the coolest Mom!

That is GREAT! Love it!

Your pictures of the Castle and Main Street are beautiful. It's amazing to see it with so few/NO people! Soooo pretty.

Welcome home!!! (even if it is belated!) I have been at work the past few nights, so I have been reading but unable to post.
Woah baby! I can't believe how much you accomplished in one evening!! Are emh always that great crowd wise?
So sorry you didn't enjoy Artists Pallette. I had a flatbread there that was pretty awesome and my daughter fell in love with one of their sammies.
I was surprised by the limited menu though. It seems as if most of the other resorts have a larger choice selection!

Lorrie - Thanks for the visual of Nicolas puking hot dogs.:lmao: Don't think there's anything worse than that! For kids meals at Casey's, I believe they have corn dog nuggets; maybe that would sit better with him?

All caught up and loving it! I have a bazillion things to comment on. I *tried* to limit myself. :lmao:

I TOTALLY agree! I really liked Roaring Forks at WL, they have a bit better options and the food is much better! AP was very disappointing for me as well! What is up with no fries or burgers?! Salads, flatbreads and sandwiches. Booooooring.

I also found AP VERY hectic - with the CS AND gift shop all connected. And, didn't I read somewhere that they were expanding Roaring Forks?

I love all your MK shots - it really shows how great of a time you two had! And all the rides with no lines!!!!!! Incredible! I have a scheme going in my head for our December trip should they offer these late EMH! :rolleyes1

Oh I think you should try to fit in a PM EMH. Just don't plan anything for the next morning!

Your "pose of the week" cracked me up. I love it! You are such a fun Mom! I bet all of Lauren's friends think you are the coolest Mom!

Lauren does it much better than me! (and yes, Lauren has told me that her friends had voted me the "coolest"!

Your pictures of the Castle and Main Street are beautiful. It's amazing to see it with so few/NO people! Soooo pretty.

Oh my Brook - thanks for all the comments! That must have been so time consuming! It really is nice to experience MK w/so few people. I hope you get to do it in December.

Woah baby! I can't believe how much you accomplished in one evening!! Are emh always that great crowd wise?

Also I am going to throw my $.02 in the ring to encourage you to come to wdw in May for the big meet!!

Hi Sunnie! Glad you're here! I would have to say, no - not all PM EMHs are that un-crowded. We've done them at Epcot and DHS and have found those parks to be very crowded still. I think the thing w/pm emh at MK is though - when it's open until 2 or 3am, it stays crowded up until about midnight; THEN it really clears out!

And oh man - I'm really feeling the itch to do that trip in May. I just may stop fighting the urge to check airfare and see what's out there.

Loving the trip report so far!! :thumbsup2 My girls are Jonas Brothers fanatics too, the fruitloops are seeing the new 3D movie 3 times this weekend!! They are nuts...

Hi Michelle! Thanks for reading!

Fruitloops!:lmao: (that cracked me up!) We have TWO scheduled movie viewings - but that is over the course of the next week; not all in the same weekend. But I don't mind - I have an inappropriate crush on the middle JoBros. so I guess I'll suffer through two shows!:rolleyes1

Sorry - don't know how I missed a this whole page of comments!

Oh, and I just thought you should know... thanks to your TRs I am absolutely trying Casey's fries with cheese in May!!

Ok - I think I'm going to ask Casey's to give me commission on their cheese fries sales - seems alot of people are going to be ordering them after reading our TR! Just so everyone knows: the cheese sauce is part of the condiment bar - so you can get as much, or as little, cheese as you want!

I am seriously impressed with all you accomplished!!

Those PM extra magic hours makes it all alot easier!

I am enjoying your trip report! I am counting down the days to our Thanksgiving week trip and this is sure helping. You got a lot done! I don't know what it is with Peter Pan either, but I can't leave MK without riding it..

Thanks for reading! The line for Peter Pan ALWAYS seems to stretch down to the bathrooms! I swear, it was still the only ride that had a line at 1am! Thankfully though, it was only a 10 minute wait.

Wow awesome report! Last summer we also found that after about 10:30 was an awesome time to ride rides! So glad you had a great first day (other than Lauren being under the weather).

I do think alot of people head out after the 10pm spectro parade. I was still amazed at how many little kids were still around after midnight - and wide awake!

Great installment, Cammie! You got some great pics of the castle at night! Lauren is just such a sweetie, I'm so glad she was feeling better and got to take advantage of EMH - I cannot believe y'all made it til 2:30 after getting no sleep the night before! You go girl!

Oh the sacrifices I make for my child!

Awww what a great night at MK!! I love the picture of you and Lauren in front of the castle with your Mickey antennas, too cute! :cutie:

You can tell Lauren was re-energized by her nap since she made it until almost 3 am! Lucky you guys!

HA!HA! Thanks! Those antennas get packed for every Disney trip!

Jumping on board for this trip report!

Lauren is absolutely gorgeous! (and her name isn't too bad either!:thumbsup2 ) It sounds like you two had an awesome time in MK! 5 times in a row on BTMRR? SWEET!

Can't wait to hear more!

Hi Lauren! Thanks for joining in and for your kind words about Lauren. And not only do you guys share the same first name but -- Elizabeth is my Lauren's middle name also!:cutie:

Cammie- I can't believe I missed your trip report how the heck did I do that???

Love the pictures. Lauren is getting so very grown up how time flies.

Jillian - I know you're so busy getting ready for your own trip - thanks for reading! I hope you guys have a great trip and look forward to reading your TR when you get back!

Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Alan - Aw, you're too kind. I don't think we desersve that title though - afterall, I couldn't convince Lauren to ride Splash Mntn!:sad2:

And I'm not surprised to hear your DS doesn't like hot dogs. I've seen your TRs - he definitely has a more sophisticated taste in food! And an intersting tidbit about Lauren - she doesn't like pizza! (I, on the otherhand, could survive on nothing but pizza!;) )

Hello Cammie! :wave2:

I started this report, but when I realized you had others, well...

I'm one of those people who doesn't like to read chapter books out of order, so I'm going back to the beginning....

See ya later (much later!)

Kathy

P.S. Your older daughter looks so familiar; we may have seen you at the MK during a past November trip....I'm going to be excited if it was you!

Hi Kathy - and welcome! That's so funny if you did see us at MK last nov. We were there on the nights of the 9th & 10th; and during the day on 13th. I've always wondered, as I'm walking around the parks, of how many other DISers I may be surrounded by!

Lovin your trip report! I also am going on a Mom/Daughter trip to Magic Kingdom/Disney Cruise next month. I love to hear Mom/Daughter stories! Can't wait for more!

Thanks so much for reading! I'm thinking one day, when Lauren is a little older, we'll be doing a mother/daughter cruise too! (at least, that's my plan!)

WOW! BTMRR 5 times in a row...how fun! I am in awe that you were able to stay out that late after being up so early!:worship: Glad to hear Lauren woke up feeling better!:thumbsup2 I can't wait until my boys are older and we can do the parks late at night too!:goodvibes

I think my body enters another dimension when I'm at WDW - I don't feel the effects of those busy days or late nights. I'm paying for it now though - I've been exhausted all week!

OMG!!! I can't believe you did ALL THAT on NO SLEEP! You are the Queen of the Kingdom, girlfriend!!:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

PS- I finally started my ST John TR- there's a link in my sig.

PPS- posting during a LOST commercial- OMG!!!!!!!!:scared1:

Hello girlfriend! Glad you're here!

Ok for all you members of the "Cammie must come to the May DISmeet regardless of how financially irresponsible it may be" club: I am still checking on various flights; so far the prices look very good. The issue is finding care for the girls - things can get complicated when I have to ask their father to do me such favors. I'm still working on that part of it. I'll keep you all posted though. I really do want to come!

I last left off with Lauren and I snuggly tucked into our beds by 3 am. PM EMH at Magic Kingdom was a big success! And now we needed to recover.......

Since Lauren's original hair-braiding appointment had been cancelled on our arrival day, I had to reschedule it for Monday. The latest appt. they had available was 3pm - right smack in the middle of the afternoon! I wasn't happy about that but we made it work for us. Our original plan was to sleep in; hit the pool for a few hours; then head to DTD for shopping and dinner at Fulton's. Now that we had this 3pm appt., the pool wasn't going to work. (I'm not one who likes to just go the pool for an hour; I want to sit my butt in a lounge chair, sip on some frozen drinks, and play in the pool with Lauren) So instead we decided we would head to DTD for lunch, walk around and get some shopping out of the way; then hop on the GF bus to the salon.

We were awake by 11am and on our way to DTD by noon. My cool girl was ready to go.....................

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04098.jpg

It was a beautiful sunny day - the weather and this pleasant walk was giving me a whole new appreciation for SSR! Here are some shots of the view during our walk over to DTD - which was only about 10 minutes tops!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04099.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04100.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04104.jpg

Now I have never had the opportunity to enjoy lunch at DTD. We always seem to find ourselves there in the evening and always eat at a TS place; I was excited to try one of the CS places I had read about here on the DIS.

After popping into The Earl of Sandwich and deciding it was way too crowded, we headed over to our second choice.......................

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04112.jpg

While WPE was just as crowded as Earl's, it somehow seemed much less chaotic. So we headed in!

Can I just say..................HOLY MOLY!!!!

Two things:
one - I CANNOT believe this place is a CS credit on the DDP;
and two - ......IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!

My head was spinning, reading all the lunch offerings. Lauren knew right away she was having the chicken nuggets w/fries (of course!). She's not a very adventurous eater. Our turn came up pretty quickly and I just blurted out the first thing that had jumped out at me. Although I must admit, looking over the menu, there are PLENTY of other things I wouldn't mind trying!

Our lunch included a beverage and dessert. We both opted for the fruit bowl and then headed to an outside table and waited for our lunch to be bought out:

Fruit bowls:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04105.jpg

Lunch arrived shortly after. Lauren's chicken nuggets w/fries ($6.95):

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04106.jpg

And mine - Roast Beef & Cheddar Focaccia ($11.95):

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04107.jpg

Since I took a menu, I can tell you the description for my sandwich: thinly sliced Niman Ranch beef, sharp cheddar, organic mixed baby greens and tomato with horseradish dijon aioli. It was really, really good and very filling. I'm telling ya, if I stay at SSR again, I will not waste my CS credits at AP; much better deal at places like this in DTD!

After lunch, we headed out to do some quick shopping. First stop - the 12 Days of Christmas store.

WOW - was it nice to finally be in this store when it's NOT the Christmas season. I actually had some elbow room! Every year we go to WDW, we make sure to purchase at least two ornaments: a personalized one and a Disney one with the current year on it. I also saw a Tinkerbell ornament that caught my eye and an antennae topper (need one for every month of the year, you know!;) ):

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04586.jpg

The snowman ornament on the left is personalized with our last name and the year on the back.

After the Christmas store, we headed over to the kitchen store (can't remember the name right now).

Some day, these will be mine:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04110.jpg

And these:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04111.jpg

Alas though - I didn't purchase anything. Lauren picked up a tshirt for her dad and then it was time to head over to the Grand Floridian.

Good-bye:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04113.jpg
See you later tonite!

We did have a bit of a wait for the bus, but right before I was really starting to worry, one showed up. And now, time for: "The Lauren Texting" picture of the day:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04114.jpg

We got to the Grand Floridian by 2:35; Lauren's appt. was for 3pm. So of course, I suggested we go out to the pool to check things out (and get a beverage for me!).

From the GF beach:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04116.jpg

My drink - the Fusion Mojito (YUM!):

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04118.jpg

I don't know if any of you have tried the XFusion liqueur before but my good DISbuddy Debbie had discovered well over a year ago and had recommended it so I've had it before. It's a mango & passion fruit liqueur - so good and so glad Disney has now discovered it!

It was time to head up to the salon:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04119.jpg

Lauren was taken right away - 3:00 on the dot!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04120.jpg

About 20 minutes later:

Lauren and "the face":
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04122.jpg

(Yes, she's texting again; had to take a pic and send to all of her friends. I did that too!:teeth: )

Mission accomplished! The easy hairdo was now in place and it was time to head on back to DTD!

Next up -- more shopping, eating, drinking, and birthday celebrating! (not necessarily in that order!)

Okay Cammie - you're telling me that you like WGP? I don't know - we have it here and I'm just luke warm about it so I never thought much about using my CS credit for it. I'm very excited to try Earl - but Carlos doesn't do well with nutty - so maybe that isn't the best idea.

I loved the braids! And the "look" cracks me up too! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I am coveting that ornament too - may have to see about finding one of those for us.

Really loved WPE! And I've seen pix of the pizza on the food porn thread - they look really good too! I think it's such a bargain to be a CS credit; so much better than the standard stuff you get a CS places in the park.

Yes, Lauren really "works" that look! We were doing it all week! She does that and then the expression "Girl, please!" She's got me talking like a teenager sometimes.

And the ornaments - such special memories! I have personalized ones from as far back as 2001!

I love that hairdo on Lauren, just beautiful and I bet so easy to deal with during the week. I would like to have my DD's hair done that way, but haha, I don't think they do her since she's only 2.5. Her hair isn't even that thick yet, though its long. I bet she'd like it.

First of all, thanks for the awesome food porn AND the description! YUM! We are seriously thinking of having lunch at WP at DTD West on our upcoming trip in MAY. (Yes, May! What an awesome time to be at Disney World!! :woohoo: )

Secondly, we are totally planning to set up an appointment for our DD to have her hair braided. She says, (and this is a quote from her,) "I want my hair braided like Lauren's!" Tell Lauren she has friends she has never even met who want to be like her! How do you go about setting up the appointment?

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention it, but GREAT installment!

I'm so going to have to eat at WPE! We liked the Earl, but it wasn't impressive enough to rave about. Maybe we'll do like you suggested, and just walk over to DTD for dinner when we get in, instead of eating at AP.

I just finished catching up on your trip report. It's great so far. It looks like the two of you are having such a wonderful time together. My DD and I are going for her 13th birthday this December. I'm with you, I find the dolls in It's a Small World kind to creepy. I can't wait to see what you both did next.

Ooh, we had Earl of Sandwich on our recent. You should definitely try it sometime! It's very small and crowded though. I've never tried WPE.

Thanks for the good wishes guys! I'm so excited and could not have managed to do this without the help of some very good DISbuddies I've met here. But I was able to book airfare using my Amex reward pts.; and I decided to sell my Springsteen tix - my very good friend was supposed to come and now has to be out of town so I'm not going to bother looking for someone else to take the ticket. Besides, I've seen Springsteen enough in my lifetime and the tix were $120 a piece - that could now pay for food and drink for one day!:lmao:

Glad you got a great nights sleep and woke up refreshed!:thumbsup2 WPE looks awesome! We are staying at SSR in June can't wait to enjoy that lovely walk to DTD!:cloud9: Lauren's hair looks adorable and OMG I so want one of those mojito's!:goodvibes

The walk is very lovely. And quick! And I'm not usually a fan of mojitos, but made with that Fusion liqueur - it was delicious!

I love Lauren's hair. That is such a great idea for vacation, so easy to take care of.

I'm really enjoying the texting pictures of the day. :rotfl:

I really want to try Wolfgang Puck Express all of the food looks amazing. Lauren's french fries look delish. I will make it over there at somepoint. I tried Earl but wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.

The hairdo works well for vacation. But, let me tell you, this is the second time she's gotten it - it's PAINFUL to take out!(there were tears involved!)

WPE was delish. I highly recommend it!:thumbsup2

Earl of Sandwich was CRAZY! I wasn't even sure where the line started - we just turned around and walked out. Very happy with a second choice though!

Lauren is just so cute. I know she would hate hearing that, but she is princess:

Looks like you had a blast we love WPE and will be eating there tomorrow night if we get in on time. :scared:

Hope you got in on time Jillian!

Lauren's hair looks adorable!!! We discovered WPE last trip and loved it too. I had the Rotisserie Beef and Gorgonzola Pocket, it was excellent!:thumbsup2

Ooh that sounds good too! So many foods to try!

I love that snowman ornament.

He's pretty cute, isn't he?

whoah that trip sounds like it was mucho fun! Glad you had fun and you have some nice family!

Thanks! Our disney trips are always fun!:goodvibes

Just wanted to say hi and tell you that I am really enjoying your TR :wave2:

Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear you're liking it!

Those mojito's are yummy-we had one in November! And WPE looks good too. You're cracking me up with your texting pic of the day-looks just like my DS12. He thinks Lauren's pretty cute by the way. :rotfl2:

Those mojitos are refreshing, aren't they? And tell your DS he made Lauren blush.

I am sooooo in love with WPE- we ate at the one on the West side and i agree- there were sooooooo many things I wanted to try! You know what that means...:rotfl:

I change my antennae toppers too! I bought the pack with all the holidays and a couple of others. My Valentine's one is like your St Pat's- but one of the antennaes popped out- guess I'll have to find a new one in May WHEN WE'RE SHOPPING TOGETHER.::yes::

Those martini glasses ARE so cute, I agree. I had 2 of those wine glasses, now I am down to one. It's so stupid- but I am so freakin happy havin wine in that glass! It puts an extra big cheese eatin grin on my face!:rotfl2:

And Lauren in braids is da BOMB!

Mmmmm - maybe WPE should be on our list for May because, well you know, I"M GOING TO BE THERE WITH YOU!!!!

Lauren's hair came out so good, I always wanted my hair done like that when I was her age! The food looks DELISH at WPE, I really want to eat at EoS but everyone says how crowded it always is so I have to keep WPE in mind! :cutie:

I'm telling ya - Lauren gets stopped by alot of people wanting to know where she got her hair done. It really is a nice easy hairstyle for the week. I'm just not brave enough to try it for myself. And yes, WPE is a good backup plan.

isn't that so nice?? i miss my SSR!

A good night's sleep gave me a whole new perspective!

yay!!!!! so glad you liked it! :yay: it's one of my favorites. i'm waiting for them to take it off the CS options. it's sort of a semi-TS if you ask me!

I know! I'm thinking it won't be long before Disney realizes it's too good of a deal for a CS!

i bought that one too!

Did you get it personalized?

looks very light and refreshing....i will be trying one my next trip....in 2 years.

Say it ain't so Dawn! TWO YEARS?:sad2:

and she's texting again! :rotfl2:

Of course! You will see this is a common occurence throughout our trip!

I love that hairdo on Lauren, just beautiful and I bet so easy to deal with during the week. I would like to have my DD's hair done that way, but haha, I don't think they do her since she's only 2.5. Her hair isn't even that thick yet, though its long. I bet she'd like it.

Can't wait for the next installment!

LOL! And I don't think you're 2 1/2 yr.old would even want to sit still long enough to have it done! Thanks for reading!

Love her hair and your ornament is adorable!!

Thank you! My Christmas tree will soon be covered exclusively in Disney ornaments!

Haha, the texting is like my sister

They're all the same! And you should she how fast she does it!

Mmmm, May sounds like a GREAT time to go! I think I will! :rotfl:

So I tell Lauren what your DD said; my child's quick response: "Well now I have to come in May so I can hang out with Alan's daughter while all of the adults are having their drinks." She's always has a plan!

Here's the number for the Ivy Trellis salon: 407-824-1679. The sooner you book, the more appointment times you will have to choose from. What Lauren got was considered a "half-head hair braid" - $55. It took about 20-25 minutes. The girls can choose same color elastics; or a variety of colors. They don't do beads though. Lauren said to let your DD know though - it kind of hurts a little; they are braiding small sections of hair and pulling them tight. But honestly, they seem to be worse to take out, then put in!

Isn't that walk to DTD wonderful from SSR? It's so scenic, pretty and quick! All those yummy food options and shopping right around the corner. Your sandwich from WPE looks great! There are a bunch of things on their menu I want to try as well. Lauren's hair in braids is really cute! And how easy and nice for vacation.

It is a very pretty walk - even Lauren enjoyed it - and she hates walking anywhere when there is another means of transportation available. I have nighttime shots coming up, as well.

I'm so going to have to eat at WPE! We liked the Earl, but it wasn't impressive enough to rave about. Maybe we'll do like you suggested, and just walk over to DTD for dinner when we get in, instead of eating at AP.

I love the Christmas store! We always get a dated ornament, too! I have two of the wine glasses and the pasta bowl on display on a shelf in my kitchen - I think I should get a few more and use them like Ellen does!:thumbsup2

I want those glasses soooooo badly! I should have just gotten some this trip. When I go with both girls, I have so much of Amanda's stuff to pack, I never have room for alot of souvenirs!

Between you and Ellen, I am soooooo going to WPE soon! Hopefully next weekend! Of course, I also have about 18 other places to try!!! :lmao: As usual, Lauren's hair came out great! And I'm loving the convenience of SSR to DTD...... Oh, I'm thinking that Debbie is the reason that WDW found the XFusion!!! She's a trendsetter! :thumbsup2

Well you're at Disney about every other month - start knocking off some of those places you need to try. And yes, Debbie was ahead of her time!

WOW great pics. I love her braids I wish I had known about them when I was there. Your drink looks so good too.

Thanks for reading! It seems, judging by the people that stopped Lauren and asked, alot of people don't know about the braiding. They all just get the wrap.

Oh yeah I would want to see those trip reports:rotfl2:

They won't be as good as mine though!;)

Laurens hair turned out fantastic! Wolfgang Puck express looks SO good!! Yumm, looking foreward to more!!

It is SO good! And I hope to have more coming up soon!

yep. sorry to say it is so. it's time for other priorities.....like having a baby! no, i'm not pregnant. but i'm hoping to be within the next 12 months. i think we're going to start trying after my NYC trip. i feel very lucky that i went 3 times in 2008 so i don't mind waiting until 2010. we're planning on going in december and taking a longer trip this time because we only had 4 days on this last december trip. and we're staying at VWL!!!!! I left off with Lauren having her hair braiding done at the GF. We were now on our way back to DTD to finish up shopping. We also had dinner ADRs at Fulton's - one of our favorite restaurants in all of Disney and a must-do every year!

We arrive back at DTD and stop to get this pic - it's a tradition:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04123.jpg

We headed into the World of Disney store and spent the obligatory half hour of mindlessly walking around; then another half hour trying to go back and find everything we decided to buy; then about 15 minutes to find an exit. My goodness, that store is like one giant maze! I'd like to mention that we scored a deal here on this night. Usually AP holders get 10% off their purchase. Well on this night, they were running a special promotion of an ADDITIONAL 10% plus a free lanyard with two pins! WOOT! Gotta love sales at Disneyworld.

We browsed through a few more stores but had decided I was just teasing myself - I wasn't purchasing any more items. It was now time to pay a quick visit to my second favorite restaurant in DTD - Raglan Road. I really would have like to eaten here, since we had just eaten at Fulton's in November, but this is Lauren's birthday trip and she chose Fulton's. Fine - but I was going to at least enjoy a drink at the outdoor bar!

Aaaah - a refreshing beer flight:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04124.jpg
L-R: Murphy's Red Ale; Orlando Brown Ale;Harp;Smithwicks Irish Ale.

All recommended by our wonderful CM Nik (that's how he spelt it!) and very good! Lauren ordered just a Sprite and got down to the business of texting again. But this time - she's texting MY FRIEND!

Kara(karajeboo) - here's Lauren texting you:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04125.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04126.jpg

We actually hung out here for awhile. The DJ booth was right next store and Lauren was enjoying the music; it was a pleasant night and our bartending CM was a hoot! Side bit of info: I always get freaked out by the coincidences of meeting people I know at WDW. Now I didn't know the bartender but he asks me where I'm originally from and I say New Jersey. He tells me he only knows one person from NJ - his roommate last year was from Bayonne! Ok - I'M FROM BAYONNE! How random is that? Ok - back to the TR!

Finally it was time to head over to Fulton's. We had a short wait for our table so we, of course, went into the bar. Now it may appear that I am bar-hopping with my daughter, but she really likes this drink they make here called the "Cherry Bomb Explosion" - it's made with pop-rocks. She wanted one; ok- twist my arm - I'll order a PopRocks martini.

Lauren's Cherry Bomb Explosion (sprite, cherry juice and ?):
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04127.jpg

My PopRocks martini:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04128.jpg

Drinks were good but one small problem - they had no pop rocks! BOO! (don't know why someone just couldn't run over to Goofy's Candy Co. but whatever!)

We were soon shown our table - very nice, in front of the boat. Out first came the yummy bread and crab boursin spread:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04133.jpg

For appetizer, we got the only seafood Lauren likes - the calamari:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04129.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04131.jpg

She REALLY liked it!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04132.jpg

This is not the typical calamari - not cut into ringlets, sliced straight. Very meaty and no tentacles!

Next up - dinner. Lauren ordered pasta w/sauce on the side(so embarassing!)
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04134.jpg

For me, I decided to switch it up a little. I usually order the Alaskan King Crab legs. It's pretty pricey so I get the half order, which is more than enough. But tonite, I was thinking lobster; I was hesitant because I didn't want to miss out on those crab legs though. Well, our waiter, Rick, suggested I have the best of both worlds and order the lovely lobster tail/king crab claws combo. Yes, it was pricey but I figured we're celebrating a special occassion so I justified it. Oh baby..........so good!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04135.jpg

Seriously, why bother with the potatoes? They're just in the way!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04136.jpg

Rick also recommended a delicious Pinot Noir to go along with my dinner - Torii Mor. It went wonderfully!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04130.jpg

We weren't ordering dessert because Lauren wanted to get something at Ghiradelli's - or so I thought. After the dinner dishes were cleared away, Rick bought out this lovely little delicacy:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04137.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04138.jpg

That was a birthday card, signed by Rick, that Lauren is holding. I decided to make my own birthday wish for my child:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04139.jpg

I was so satisfied with this dinner! The food was delicious; the service was great; and I was so happy over the fuss they made for Lauren's birthday. Now - onto Ghiradelli's! No - Lauren wasn't done eating yet. She was craving a RootBeer float! Must be lovely to be 13 and be able to shove as much food as you want down your throat. I, on the other hand, just had a White Choc.Mocha coffee.

My girl and her 2nd dessert:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04143.jpg

After finishing, we decided to start the walk back to SSR but, of course, no stop to DTD is complete without a visit to:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04157.jpg

Coming up next.................Goofy's Candy Co.

We got back to our room by 11 and another birthday surprise was waiting for Lauren:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04163.jpg

It came with a special photopass card that gives me 20% off my order! I just have to place the order the first time I go onto the site to get that discount, so I'm waiting until I have a good chunk of time to view my photos! But hey - third score of the day for us! It was a very good day indeed!

Coming up next.................DHS, with a detour to Epcot first!

All of us that were left waiting for rooms were all waiting for rooms in Congress Park. I still don't understand why that should matter. What - the people checking out are staying late to enjoy the view just a little bit longer?:confused3

!

I think it has something to do with if you suggest a room at check in that room wasn't going to be occupied that day so it wasn't cleaned. So they have to clean it when you get there. I remember the CM checking us in saying something along the lines of "WE have to get people over there to clean the room":confused3

You won't be alone - I'm going solo!!! At least my fam won't be with me.... that will be weird, too!

Cammie - I was laughing sooooo hard while she was texting me. She is a great kid and I can hardly wait to meet her again! Ally loved her! In December we'll have to spend longer than just 1/2 hr together and maybe hit a few attractions..... Unless you get your fill of Kara in May! :rotfl2:

congrats on the new trip! :thumbsup2

yep. sorry to say it is so. it's time for other priorities.....like having a baby! no, i'm not pregnant. but i'm hoping to be within the next 12 months. i think we're going to start trying after my NYC trip. i feel very lucky that i went 3 times in 2008 so i don't mind waiting until 2010. we're planning on going in december and taking a longer trip this time because we only had 4 days on this last december trip. and we're staying at VWL!!!!! (hopefully.) i've already got my budget worked out as to how much i need to put back every week once i get back from NYC. :lmao:

Thanks Dawn! And I guess you're doing the responsible thing by holding off on Disney for a little while. Will make the return in 2010 all the sweeter!

I hope everything goes according to plan for you and Ray!

I looked up round trip airfare today for May, Minneapolis to Orlando...

$130!! Sooooooooo cheap!!

Then I looked at my work calendar. My co-worker/partner in crime is out that Friday and Monday and therefore, I CANNOT be. :guilty: I would be able to leave Friday night/Saturday morning and return Sunday night, but even though airfare is unheard of cheap, I seriously don't think I can justify spending that much money for such a short time.

Sigh.

BUT IF MY CO-WORKERS PLANS CHANGE, I'M BOOKING IT!

Hi Cammie, I'm a stranger here, but I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying this TR. Your daughter is beautiful, and doesn't seem to have that "teenage" attitude at all! My DD is 8, and I hope she's still as sweet as Lauren at 13! So far we haven't been on any trips just the 2 of us, but I think it would be SO much fun!!

Also, Fulton's looks just ridiculously good. I'm going there next time, and the price be-darned!!! I think I'll give evening EMHs at MK a try, too. It looked INCREDIBLE!!!

Can't wait to read the rest and get more ideas!!!! ;)

oh don't say that the airfare is that cheap from Mpls to Orlando. Now they will really work on twisting my arm. the big bummer part is that Springfest is that weekend. it is one of the major fundraisers for school and church. I can't shirk my responsibilty. sorry. oh sooo close to a trip.

My family needs to come better prepared too!!!! We left for NY where it was below freezing so everyone but my dad (he wore shorts which made sense once we got to VA) was wearing pants, and my poor aunt was wearing long johns. It was 80 when we got to disney and at that point everyone (except my dad) was wishing they had there shorts more easible accesible. We thought my aunt (in the long johns) was going to pass out walking around the resort.

Next year we are all going to either wear shorts all the way to Florida or have them all a lot easier to get to once we got there.,

Good for you Cammie, booking your May trip...

I am so glad you post so much about DTD... I have a few must do's for our November trip that I know my boys will love. Growing up 45 minutes from the World, I have always shunned DTD since it reminded me that I wasn't going to Disney that day:) And, being a teen, sporting Disney merchandise was so "uncool" unless it was "dress like a tourist" day at school.

Could anyone tell me where Club Cool is located, getting my unsuspected DH to sip a Beverly is also on my to do list...

Hi Cammie! Sitting here with some wine in my Mickey wine glass enjoying your TR. Figured I should come out of lurkdome to tell you how much I have enjoyed your TR. I make a few trips a year with my DS16. Hubby isn't the Disney fan that we are. But he buys us AP's. So I enjoy the time with my son. He has one more year of school and then off to college so I enjoy the time while I can. I'm sure you can relate with your time with Lauren( who is adorable by the way). Love her blue and red ties on her braces. I work for an orthodontist(two actually, one with patients and one I make retainers for) so I work with the kids in choosing their colors all the time. It makes having braces so much more fun.
Anyway, loving your TR and after just returning from a trip for ESPN the weekend (ESPN is DS's favorite, it's constantly on in my house) I may be inspired to write my own TR.

I was so shocked at how cheap the flights were! Under $200! I haven't seen prices like that in years - that sealed the deal for me!:thumbsup2

If you haven't tried Fulton's before and you like seafood, I say it's a must-do. It is a little pricey, but they will do half-orders. I've been going there since it was the Empress Lily - it holds a dear place in my heart.

And choc.-covered marshmallows are the way to go!

Twist, twist, twist, Laura. You may not see airfare like that again for awhile!

It was my own fault and I could kick myself. I'm sure we would have been much happier too if we were dressed properly. I don't know what my problem was - we went from the car right into the airport terminal; we would have been FINE in spring clothes! I'll remember it for next time!

You all are making me jealous of your DISMeet:goodvibes

My girls and I LOVE DTD! We always have it as a schedulled stop during our trips to Disney! It's funny - at Lauren's school now, it's kind of "cool" to wear Disney clothes; she'll wear anything w/Mickey and Tink on it!

Hi Cathy!:wave2: Thanks for coming out of lurkdom! I'm sitting here drinking wine too - but out of my plain boring wine glass. I wish I had gotten the mickey ones!

I soooo dread Lauren getting older! It makes me sad to think she'll be away at college soon and may not want to vacation with dear old mom anymore! Heck, I'm dreading the high school years, wondering how I'll manage to pull her out for a week for our trips!

And I have to laugh about you noticing her bands on her braces. She had chosen red and blue for her last visit in January because the Giants were in the playoffs and we're big fans. Well, we all know what happened there!:sad2: She just had them switched this week - chose hot pink!:teeth:

Off topic but I wanted to fill you guys in on an interesting phone call I received from the Disney Vacation Club today.............

I got very excited when the phone rang and I checked the caller ID and it said "Disney Vac. Club". I don't know why but I'm always thinking they're calling me to tell me I won something!

Anyway, a few years ago, DVC was looking for members to submit photos from their vacations to be used in the DVC newsletter. So I sent in a picture of Lauren, Amanda, and I from Dec.2004 of the three of us at a DVC xmas party w/ Mickey & Minnie that was held right outside Epcot. So far, it had not been used. Well the call today was to tell me that they are using our picture -- but not in the newsletter but in the new DVC vacation planner being released this spring! These are the vacation guides that are mailed out to all DVC members and contains all of the point requirements for vacations stays. I'm so honored and excited! So, if any of you are DVC members, look for our picture in your new planner when you get it!

I think we are now somewhat famous!:cool2:

There are a bunch of things on their menu I want to try as well. Lauren's hair in braids is really cute! And how easy and nice for vacation.

All caught up!

Lauren's hair turned out so cute - I keep forgetting she's 13 - I keep thinking she's 11! Who let her grow up?

Fulton's looks really good! I had ADRs there last time, but cancelled them cuz I was tired, and we ate at Boma. And those snacks at Goofy's - I have to get some pretzels!:thumbsup2 Of course, we'll probably end up with apples and pay OOP - we're like that!:rotfl2:

I'm so excited about MAY!   You really deserve this trip and you'll have so much fun with the DIS girls! I need to stay home and babysit, but take lots of pics so those of us who don't go can live vicariously through you!

Okay, I must apologize up front to you, Cammie - I'm about to TOTALLY highjack your thread....but I must! (keep reading and you'll understand why!)

First of all, you have posted so many great pictures that I have to respond to several of them individually!!! Here we go:

L-R: Murphy's Red Ale; Orlando Brown Ale;Harp;Smithwicks Irish Ale.

I MUST HAVE THIS!!! We have ADRs at Raglan Road on Wednesday, May 20 for a late lunch at 2:15pm. I WILL be ordering this beer flight. :cool1:

I'm so happy to hear we can use snack credits at Goofy's. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04165.jpg

Isn't it great? On our last trip, we had so many snack credits left that we bought pretzel rods for everyone back home that we remotely knew!!! They make GREAT souvenirs!

You know that kid that was in your class back in school that always got you into trouble by convincing you to do stuff you knew you'd get in trouble for, but you really WANTED to do anyway? Well, that kid grew up to be ME!!! Hehehe...

Thanks Dawn! And the May trip didn't take much, did it?;)

BTW Kathy - what are you doing in May?

Yay me!!! I'm totally taking credit for convincing Cammie to make a trip in May!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh yeah, and Kathy......tttwwwiiissstt.....tttwwwissttt.... twwisstt....

You are all so sweet! :goodvibes

Cheap airfare.....cheap value rooms....AP holders......beautiful weather in May with low crowds.....TTTWWWIISSSTTT!! C'mon, Brook, you know a co-worker would switch with you given this much notice!!! I think you DESERVE a WDW trip!! (twwwissttt)

oh don't say that the airfare is that cheap from Mpls to Orlando. Now they will really work on twisting my arm. the big bummer part is that Springfest is that weekend. it is one of the major fundraisers for school and church. I can't shirk my responsibilty. sorry. oh sooo close to a trip.

love those pretzels--i wish I would have known they were part of the DDP.

(Devil on your left shoulder replys): "C'mon....you know you wanna! Shirk that responsibility!" Twwwisssttt!!!

You all are making me jealous of your DISMeet:goodvibes

When I get a job in the next couple of months that is on my radar....a solo (without family) trip.

Best of luck with getting a new job! And, oh, by the way.....TTTWWWISSTTT!

Cathy

Hi Cathy! You and DS16 would LOVE the weather in May! Particularly around May 17th at Epcot!!! I'm just saying!! :rolleyes1

Oh how cool!!! Maybe you'll will be as famous as Stacey! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That's really cool!

Okay, sorry I highjacked your thread, Cammie......we are elated that you'll be at the DISmeet in May! Woohoo!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Nope not bread. BETTER EVEN! CASEY'S CORN DOG NUGGETS! Oh yes. :cloud9:

Alan, you are too funny! My co-worker is really solid on her plans-her entire family goes camping that weekend every year....but I guess ya never know, things could change.....!!! (i hope they do! I'll let her know tomorrow when I'm in the office to keep me posted on her plans! Joe (DH) is even OK with it, so it seems!)

I was just reading another one of your TR and I have to take note on you being a Yankee fan.

I'm a Yankee fan by birth and a Derek Jeter fan by choice of hormones (best way to put it).

Yum!! I love Goofy's Candy and Ghiradelli(i hope i spelled that right).

I never know if I'm spelling Ghiradelli's correctly either! Who cares? I certainly knew what you were talking about - it's a frequent stop of ours.

How do I always miss your TRs! I am an idiot! Here is where you have been (mainly ) hanging out! I love your pix!!! Now I am jealous I can't meet you in May! Maybe I just will!!!! I love your daughter and I have never even met her! She is a doll. Love ya Cammie!

See? I'm still around; you're just not looking in the right places!;) Glad you found me!

It does get harder to take the kids out of school when they get to HS. I try not to take DS out for more than 2 or 3 days. I'm lucky that he is a high honor roll student and responsible about making up the work he misses.

It's going to be a sad day when we can't do our week long WDW trips in Dec.!:sad2: That is the one thing that works in our favor too - Lauren is an honors student and catches up quickly. I know that could all change in high school though.

How exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be looking for you when my family's arrives!!!!!!!

And you can tell everyone you know me!

Is there any way non DVC (like me) could get a copy? I'd love to see it!

I don't think so, Kathy. I think it's exclusively availabe to members only because it has all the "inside" info. I don't even remember being shown one when we were first thinking of joining. It came later when we were official. Don't worry - when I get my copy, I'll scan the picture and post it.

How cool!! When you get it you'll have to post it on here for all us non-DVC'ers.

I certainly will! I don't expect it until April, the earliest though. Guess I'll have to drag this TR out until then!

Tammie - You MUST put Fulton's on your to-do list! They have a big menu and it's sooo good!

Just wanted to say that I am loving the TR! I wish my mom liked Disney so I could go on a mom/daughter trip with her! You guys are so lucky! Can't wait to read more :)

PS Congrats on having your pic used, that's so exciting!

Thanks for reading! C'mon - does your mom really not like Disney? I bet if she went on a special mom/daughter trip, she would love the place!;)

Wow, isn't this trip report full of interuptions full of very exciting news! Congratulations, that is so exciting and cool! I third the please post it so us non DVCers can see it!

I also wanted to tell you that once my kids are older, I am dying to try the BWI! That resort looks SOOOO cool:thumbsup2 . Just wondering what your favorite thing to do there?

The thing I adore most about the BW is the activity that is still going on at night when we get back from the parks. You'll see later in my TR but many times, we'll just walk up and down the boardwalk for about an hour at night, enjoying the various entertainment. Plus - it's so pretty there and w/in walking distance to Epcot and DHS!

No marshmallows? Now - those are my favorite. Lauren prefers the pretzels.

my arm is about to fall off from all of that twisting. DH just laughed at the thought of me skipping out on springfest.

Cammie the cake was great! Was that the cake that you had ordered?

No I never did order a cake - we made out just fine with all the complimentary ones we got. I was surprised Fulton did that one - it certainly was one of the better ones of the week.

CAMMIE! That is soooooooooooo cool about DVC using the pic for their planners! I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: I told Joe all about it, "Remember the gal who sent us all those Mickey heads...." he's excited for you!

Tell your hubby - you can put ANY beer you want in that beer flight; I took the bartenders recommendation! And, thank you for the kind words about Lauren. Yeah, I'm not allowed to used words like "cute" or "adorable" in front of her friends anymore; everything has to be "cool"!

Congrats for booking in May AND for the pictures in the planner!! how awesome!!!

Oh I hope you enjoy Fulton's as much as we do. I'm surprised at the bad rap in sometimes gets on the DIS. I've always enjoyed our meals there. If your son likes seafood, he will certainly have quite a selection to choose from!

Smart man! You can put any beer in the flight, btw; it's up to you!:thumbsup2

Now this is my kind of calamari! No tentacles...doesn't look all icky....sort of like "Calamari Light."

They were delicious - very meaty!

Very happy camper to hear snack credits were good for those treats! Great deal!

What an AWESOME birthday celebration for Lauren! YAY!!! In case we haven't said so already, we are loving your trip report!!

Just a brief update on the DVC news............

I got the FedEx from DVC yesterday with all of the releases. Signed them and sent them back. Also included in the package was a photocopy of the picture they are using: it's from Dec.2004! I think I sent it in around 2006; just can't believe they hold on to them! Anyway, it's a cute picture of the girls and I posing with Mickey and Minnie in their holiday outfits. It was taken at a DVC holiday party that was held just outside of Epcot. It was a really nice event and I'm glad we were there for it; don't think they do them anymore. I'll be sure to post a scan of the page when I get the planner!

Sorry I haven't gotten an update in these past few days. Lauren's OFFICIAL 13th birthday was yesterday; we had a nice dinner, just the three of us, and went to see the Jonas Brothers 3D concert movie. Loved it, of course!(still freaks me out to hear my child squeal, giggle and call Nick "hot"!LOL) Now I'm having family from NJ visiting this weekend. I'll try to get an installment up tomorrow morning before the craziness starts!

I wish I could write essys on derek jeter, but all i get is essays on "To Kill a Mockingbird"

Jeter is such a good person, whenever I watch baseball with my grandmother she starts talking about how great derek jeter is and how hes such a gentleman and then she goes on about how a-rod needs to be more like him

Sure it must have been fun in patriots country last year. My mom is a patriots fan and my dad and I are giants fans so we had a lot of fun with her last year.

Okay, this was just too darn funny.:rotfl:

Tell Lauren Happy Birthday, from the moderator, that tries to keep up to her mom's TR.

Congradulations on the pictures with DVC.
I had an e-mail just this week from a sales person from DVC and it said, my phone number is on the Do Not Call List and she provided me a link, so they can call. LOL. I didn't do, because I know we wouldn't be purchasing DVC till my youngest is out of college. Plus I am pounding away at a loan that I am paying off for my oldest son. My dh got laid off in 2001 when he started college, so we couldn't help him with tuition. (Don't even get me started how "college loans are a total rip off".) They make these kids sign up to an agreement to how they want to pay these off. You have to choose a certain time frame. My son choose 10 years. If he wanted to pay it off early, he still has to pay the full interest for 10 years. See, I just rambled.

Anyway, I have to ask this, why is there never strawberries in WDW Fruit bowls, your in the strawberry capital of the world and never no strawberries.

Happy Birthday Lauren!
My mom likes Nick. I'm not a gigantic fan, but Nick is the best of all 3.

I forgot to add that Nick is my favorite jo-bro too (only i dont like the other 2 at all)

Oh my! How could you not like the other two at all? They're a package deal!

:cool1: All caught up.. read all your other trip reports. You know how to do Disney. I have read some trip reports and think boy they didnt see anything, but you get everything in:thumbsup2

I see you live in MA and are a Giants fan!!!! (Those two dont mix)
GO PATS!!!!:lmao: (Sorry couldnt helpmyself)

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you're enjoying my reports!

And.......easy now on that Patriots stuff! If I recall correctly, your team did lose to my team in a pretty big game last year!:rolleyes1

Anyway, I have to ask this, why is there never strawberries in WDW Fruit bowls, your in the strawberry capital of the world and never no strawberries.
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04105.jpg

Rant over, time to loose your TR for another 2 weeks.
OhMari

Rant away Marisa! That's what we're here for and it's good to get it out of your system.

And it's funny you mention the lack of strawberries........when Lauren was younger that was really the only fruit she would eat. I remember being at the princess breakfast in Norway and their was NO strawberries out! I asked our CM if they had any and she bought out a HUGE bowl for Lauren! I had no idea why they were hiding them in the kitchen and not part of the fruit buffet!:confused3

Congratulations on the brochure, do post so we can see. I hope someday to take each of my kids on their own mommy and me trip to WDW.. but certainly when they are big enough to do everything. Your dinner at Fultons looks terrific too!

Thank you! I hope you can do one-on-one trips too! It really is a different experience when you can focus on just each individual child!

That's super cool!!!!!!

You have a super cool friend!:thumbsup2

Whoa, sounds like you got a crazy weekend in front of you!! Lauren's birthday also sounds like it was the perfect thing for a 13 year old girl! That is funny about her shrieking and all that over Nick...I can totally understand why it freaks you out a bit too!

I'm super excited about getting my planner! We got our Disney Files today and Henry immediatly "stole" it from me and carried it around the house, giving Mickey random kisses and hugging the magazine. Hopefully the planners are just around the corner!!

Your Henry is just one of the cutest little boys ever! I could just see him doing that! Glad to see his Disney obsession has started at a young age!;)

Yeah, if you think that freaks you out just wait until you have the conversations I have been having with Cassidy all week. :scared1: :scared1:

Cassidy has two friends that are taking her to the movie today....she spent yesterday afternoon making a t-shirt professing her love of Kevin. :lovestruc

Ok, Lauren and I have had some "uncomfortable" conversations already! How much worse can they get?:scared:

And that's so cute that Cassidy made a special shirt for the movie; Lauren and Amanda both wore their JB shirts too! Lauren has already told me she really wants to see the movie again! I hope Cassidy and her friends enjoy it! Why aren't you going too?;)

Happy Birthday Lauren!
My mom likes Nick. I'm not a gigantic fan, but Nick is the best of all 3.

Lauren and I awoke on our second morning in Disney to a bright, beautiful day. A little chilly, but just gorgeous.

Our game plan for this day: DHS all day; arrive early, grab FPs for TSM or RnRC; lunch at 50s PTC; stay until 7pm closing then head to the Yacht & Beach Club for dinner at The Yachtsman at 7:30.

We didn't stick to that plan.

We were up early enough and out to the bus stop by 8:45am.....

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04171.jpg

It wasn't too long until the first bus pulled up - it was the Epcot bus. It was here that my child threw my plans out the window when she said:

"Mom, I NEED to be in Epcot this morning."

Now, I will admit - I was missing me some Epcot action. Since we usually always stay at the BW and therefore, are usually in Epcot w/in hours of first arriving at WDW, it was weird to have been on the property for our third day and not yet have stepped foot into our favorite park. I didn't have Epcot scheduled until the next day!

I was fine with this suggested detour. But I needed Lauren to understand that heading to Epcot first was going to seriously decrease our chances of getting on the "big" rides at DHS. She didn't care. She had just been there in November; rode TSM about 3 times and also RnRC. As long as we got to DHS in time for lunch, we figured we would just spend the rest of the afternoon at the Studios doing whatever we could; and what we couldn't - no big deal.

So -- off to Epcot!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04172.jpg

So cute - the mickey balloons on the monorail:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04173.jpg

As soon as we entered Epcot, I was starting to doubt this change in our plans. Epcot was crowded. Very crowded. I looked at the time guide - Epcot was having AM EMH today. Oh great! It was already 9:15 am and the park has already been open for over an hour. I was not liking our chances of getting on anything before we would have to leave for lunch.

We took a chance and walked over to the Land to see what was going on at Soarin'. Yeah - as expected - the usual chaos over there. I didn't even bother to check the wait times; judging by the size of the mob, I knew it was going to be too long for my liking.

Since we hadn't had breakfast, I made a quick stop at Sunshine Seasons and picked up a choc.chip muffin for Lauren and I to split. We went over the ride Figment just to have something to do. I don't mind this ride too much - it's cute. Once off that ride, we decided to try our luck at TestTrack. Want to mention - it was now almost 10:00 in the morning and as we passed the Land again, a CM was putting out a sign saying that all FPs for Soarin' were gone for the day. Before 10:00am!!! That's just crazy!

On to TestTrack:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04174.jpg

Brief interruption in this TR to post the "Lauren Texting" picture of the day:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04176.jpg

Back to TR: The posted standby wait time for TT was 50 minutes - from the entrance to the ride. We were no where near the entrance. I was thinking we were going to have to add at least another 10-15 minutes to that! Now, usually, it goes against my beliefs to wait more than 30, 40 minutes tops, for any ride. So I looked at Lauren - what did she want to do? Well, she loves TestTrack - of course she wanted to stay. Ok, fine - it is HER birthday trip afterall. As long as we were out of there by 11:30, I thought we would still have enough time to make out ADRs at DHS for noon.

So we waited. And waited. And waited. Lauren doesn't seem to mind at all:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04177.jpg

It was a full 70 minutes that we waited. But honestly, it didn't feel that long. We were surrounded by two very nice families - one from London and one from NY. Chatting with them made the time pass by a little quicker.

TestTrack was awesome! But it was now almost 11:30 and we needed to hustle over to DHS. I'm proud to report we made it through the DHS turnstiles by noon; and were at 50s Primetime Cafe by 12:05. WooHoo!

We were thirsty!

Dad's Electric Blue Lemonade and Mickey's BeeBop drink:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04180.jpg

Lauren had the kids side salad and chicken nuggets with fries:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04181.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04183.jpg

I had the fried chicken w/mashed pototoes and greens:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04182.jpg

For dessert, Lauren had her mind set on the choc.dipped hot fudge sundae:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04184.jpg

Now they knew it was her birthday so I thought they would have just put a candle in her sundae. But no, instead they bought her this:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04186.jpg

Our CM Elaine, of course, had to get the rest of the "family" sitting in our area to join in singing happy birthday. Yep - Lauren was embarassed! I loved it!

Hmmm, what should I eat first?
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04185.jpg

She started with ice cream first; attacked the cupcake second. I'll admit - I helped!

Elaine took our picture and then gave me her address to send her a copy. She keeps photo albums at her stations and likes to put the pictures of her customers in them!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04187.jpg

After lunch, we decided to check out TSM - just for some laughs; I knew there was probably no way we were getting on it! On the way, had to stop for this pic, of course!
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04189.jpg

As expected, TSM FP - sold out; standby wait time - 120 minutes! No thank you! We wanted to ride the Backlot Studio Tour but it was closed; don't know why. As we walked around, I noticed no line to see the Monster Inc. guys.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04191.jpg

where we would try out our drawing, acting and singing skills...........

Continued from previous post..............

We headed into the Magic of Disney Animation. I have never really experienced the attractions in here; always just cut in the back way and met the characters. Since we had the time, I really wanted to check out all it had to offer. I have to say - Lauren and I spent about an hour in here and we had a hoot!

First off was a presentation on how Disney animators bring characters to life. This little film was hosted by Mushu from Mulan. It was really very funny and quite interesting. After that show, we blew off meeting Sorcerer Mickey and went over to play on the computers.

First up was the Soundstage (I think that's what it was called). This was hysterical. It's a little program hosted by Ursula from Little Mermaid. She will "take" your voice and place it into the scene of a Disney movie. You have to choose whether it's your "singing" voice or your "acting" voice. We first went with the acting voice:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04199.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04200.jpg

You then choose from four Disney movies to recite dialogue from. The clip is then shown as it played in the movie first; then you are given the chance to do your own voice-over to the scene. We first did a scene from the Lion King:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04201.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04204.jpg

After you're done recording, they play it back. Oh we were laughing so hard and we were loud. This is why I love my kid so much - she's so much fun to hang out with!

We did all four movies. Next we did the singing voices:

Lion King again................
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04206.jpg

Did I mention we were loud? Lauren was mortified at the singing playback! At one point, I turned around and there was an elderly couple watching us and laughing. They told us we needed to take our "act" on the road!

Next it was on to :

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04213.jpg

You answer some questions; then you are put into a story and told what Disney character you are most like. Lauren and I got the same answer:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04208.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04211.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04210.jpg

It was cute; but not half as entertaining as the soundstage. Next we decided to take the animation lesson. I've always wanted to try this and there wasn't much of a crowd lined up. We waited about 10 minutes and were then let in to take a seat at a drawing board:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04215.jpg

We were going to be taught how to draw Pluto! Here's my finished product:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04216.jpg

Here's Lauren's:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04217.jpg

We call him "sick" Pluto.

We really had a lot of fun in there. I'm glad we took the time to do it!

Next we headed over to see Beauty and The Beast - one of our favorite shows in all of Disney. Since I had taken a TON of pictures during our trip in November, I didn't take any on this day. Sorry!

RnRC was out of the question, as expected. Too long of a wait.(and fine by me - I was NOT looking forward to riding it!) We went back to see Muppets in 3D and then grabbed a quick snack - cheese-filled pretzels. As we sat enjoying our pretzels, we noticed the next American Idol show was starting in 15 minutes. We decided to check it out!

In the queue area, a "host" walks around with a camera crew and interviews the guests. It's broadcast on the tvs that are posted throughout the waiting area:

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04218.jpg

We were finally let into the theater and I have to say, when they opened the doors, Lauren and I both let out a "Wow." It looked so much like the real thing!

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04219.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04220.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04222.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04223.jpg

A video of Ryan Seacrest is played, explaining the whole process:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04224.jpg

The host then comes out and introduces the contestants and judges:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04225.jpg
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04226.jpg

They really treat this seriously. They want people with real singing talent and the audience is encouraged to be as enthusiastic as possible. It was very cool. The first girl that performed was only 14; she sang a song from CampRock and was pretty good. I give her ALOT of credit for getting up there in front of all those people.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04227.jpg

This guy sang "Sweet Home Alabama" and while he didn't have the strongest voice, he certainly seemed very comfortable up on that stage. He had the crowd up dancing and clapping along with him:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04229.jpg

I wasn't able to get pictures of the third person who sang - a kindergarten teacher who actually wound up winning. She performed a Jennifer Lopez song and then darkened the theater and had the disco lights going. They are VERY strict about flash photography in here and it was just too dark to get a picture. Anway, when all three are done performing, they listen to the judges and then the audience votes by pushing a button on the armrests:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04221.jpg

I guess there are seven or eight shows a day; the winners from each show then come back for the last show of the day, where one ultimate winner is chosen. They then are invited back, at a later date, to compete against other previous winners. Somehow, a big winner is chosen and THAT person in given a free pass to audition before the actual American Idol judges in an upcoming season.

After American Idol, it was time to leave DHS and head over to the Boardwalk area. We had dinner ADRs at The Yachtsman in the Yacht Club.

Had to stop for the traditional DHS photo:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee237/Camster0307/DisneyFeb09/DSC04231.jpg

Next installment: a great dinner and another fabulous birthday treat!

It's so cute that the CM keeps pics of her customers! That's excellent!! I haven't been there since the day MGM opened, that's where we had lunch, Pods & I. I guess I need to go back with the boys in the fall.

i've only been through here once but we didn't do the computer games. another thing we'll have to do next time! sounds fun.

Yea!!!! Love the AI pics - we didn't get in this weekend as we only spent a few hrs at DHS this time. But we did see the camera crew filming a guy outside who was jumping up and down with his "ticket" and just going nuts! it looked like fun! Weird that the wait times were so long! We just had 10 minute waits for most everything this weekend. Even though at one point the posted wait for Test Track was 40 minutes, we walked on. Literally. Same with ToT and RnR - I don't know if they were trying to scare people off or what. But it seemed to be the theme of our weekend......

The picture of Lauren debating her desserts is adorable. Her facial expression is so cute!

I think the Animation Courtyard is so much fun, I want to do the drawing class in May. Sounds like a nice way to get a break from park touring too.

I have to say that I am not that interested in the American Idol attraction but after seeing those photos I might have to check out a show!

Wow, Cammie! I could never, ever, just change my plans spur-of-the-moment like that! Especially when ADRs were involved! You really pulled it off, though! :thumbsup2

And yours is the first TR I've read that included the new American Idol attraction! Cool! That set does look authentic...

Looking forward to the special birthday treat for Lauren!!

The American Idol thing looks wow! We might have to do it this summer. What a great mom to change plans that morning... I am not sure I could handle that.... but you are right it was her birthday trip. Also waiting in line for Test Track--- Lauren is super lucky to have such a fantastic mom!

YAY new updates:cool1:

Test Track is my favorite ride in disney but the first 3 or 4 times we rode it we waited 120 min each time:scared1: Now we just do the single rider(wish more rides has this:sad2: ) The rides so good it has alittle bit of everything.

We haven't been to DHS in forever. I can't wait to do American Idol Experience next time we go. Would you resommand the magic of disney animation ,we've never done it and if you think its worth it I might want to try it:thumbsup2

Great update! Too funny about all the Jonas Bros. madness! Reminds me of my middle school obsession with NKOTB. :rotfl2:

Hi Cammie! It's great that the two of you could be so flexible and fun!:thumbsup2 I can't wait to see AI! We have seen the show part of the animation studio, and we went through the shop where the artists are, but we didn't see where the drawing place was - DH does want to buy a print from the shop near there - they have original sketch prints - isn't it right next to this attraction?:confused3
