Hey Everyone! New member to the WISH area of the boards, and I was hoping to find some people to join me on my own WISH journey. I know motivation is obviously the biggest roadblock for many of us.

SO HERE IS OUR CHANCE TO GET MOTIVATED FOR THOSE SWIMSUIT BODIES! :cool1:

Personally, I think a journal is great, but it helps even more when you read about others, so this Club has two parts to join:

1. You promise to write at least one weekly journal entry (as much as you want) on a specified day of your choice.

2. You promise to keep up with the other Club Members' journals and, if someone doesn't post on their day, we all let the supportive PM's fly!

If you are interested, please post your name (real or a screenname that we can address you as), what day is best for you to post your entry, your weightloss plan of choice, your current weight, your goal weight as of June 21, 2009 (first day of summer!) and anything else you'd like to share. I'll do my best to keep a list of everyone up at the top of the page so we can check easily.

Hope we can get some dedicated people on board to share stories and help keep each other on track! I figure if Disney fans can't do it, who can!? :earsboy:

After all, if we can dream it, we can do it... one carrot at a time!

And, just to be fair, I'll start with mine.

I'm Toby. I'm 27 and live in Atlanta, and I've always struggled with my weight. As I'm starting to get older, I know it's only going to get harder, so I figure it's time to take matters into serious consideration.

I know I have a busy schedule, and I hate the gym. Period. So, I plan to follow a modified version of the Slim Fast plan, and I am commiting to walk to work at least 4 times a week (which equals 1.5 miles a day total). I also plan to re-enroll in dance classes once a week (after a minor foot surgery). I'm a snacker, so I hope that I can use portion control with several small meals to help shed about 2-3 pounds a week, and have a new lifestyle which allows me to make small changes across the board instead of "dieting".

Currently, I'm at about 245 lbs. My goal is to be at 210 by June 21, 2009, getting rid of that last 15 by the time I set sail on a cruise on August 31, 2009.

To keep on track, I'll post my entries on Monday!

Greetings to everyone! :thumbsup2

this sounds fun! and i need accountability for a June 5 trip to FL then WDW

I'll take posting on thursday --

will this be a mega thread for the whole duration? I will do my best to keep up with posts as much as RL allows :) I will be on vacation june 5 - 20; ok for me to use June 4 as my end date?

cruising DCL I assume? first time?

ok, I'm Molli, either name/username is fine with me. I'm 36 and been complaining of tight jeans/muffin top for wwwaaayyy too long, so long i'm tired of hearing it. :rolleyes1 I have been at my goal weight twice in the past 5 years but never maintained longer than few months. there always seems to be a vacation or holiday that overtakes my eating and then I carry around an extra 10-15 lbs. why do i repeat this pattern? urgh!:sad2: My plan is healthy choices/journaling food. I have done WW, Body forLife, the Zone in the past, I know what good choices are, my downfall is SUGAR and snacking. Right now i'm fluctuating between 145-150 and my goal is to be 135 when we leave which gives me some cushion for vacation. Truth being, I was slimmer last summer and quite frankly I don't think my shorts are going to fit, at least not well with an extra 10lbs. that is one size in women's so there you go. I have just signed up for the Cinci Flying Pig 1/2 marathon in May so my workout routine is set until May 3 :upsidedow

Welcome Molli! No problem on the end date! It's more about accountability and support than ending on June 21.

And, as for my cruise, it will actually be on Royal Caribbean. Going as a surprise trip for a friend of mine, so his bf picked the cruise.

Well, I am interested in joining, but I will tell you up front that I am not really ready to post my true weight. So, if that eliminates me here, I'm okay with that. Otherwise, here goes (I'll try to be brief).....

Like most, I have struggled with my weight since my teen years. I had it pretty well under control in high school and college and then gained after college. I lost weight when I got married and then quickly gained it all back and then some after the wedding. I have bounced around with my weight since getting married, and every time I bounce up the number gets higher. I hit my all-time high weight some time in 2002-2003 (not really sure when, I never got on a scale). I started Weight Watchers in about January of 2003 and stuck with it for a year. I lost about 40 pounds and was happy with my weight, but was no where near my goal yet. After my initial motivating factor passed (a trip to WDW), I had trouble staying on WW and sort of floundered for about a year or so. In 2006/2007 I gained back 20 of the 40 I had lost. In January of 2008 I rededicated myself because I had yet another WDW trip coming up and I REFUSED to return fatter than I had been the last time! I lost about 30+ pounds and was able to return to WDW about 10 pounds lower than my 2004 trip.... that was exciting!

But even more exciting was that after my April trip, I kept up my motivation and my good eating and my exercise and continued on my slow, but steady journey for the remainder of 2008. As of December 23 I had officially lost 51 pounds during 2008 (not including the 20 I had kept off from previously). But of course, Christmas kind of wreaked havoc on my eating and I gained 6 pounds.... not too bad you say??? Well.... since then I have just been bouncing around the same stupid 6 pounds. I lose two, I gain one... I lose three, I gain two! I am STRUGGLING right now to rededicate myself and remotivate myself. I keep reminding myself how WORTH IT this all is and how GREAT it feels to NOT be FAT!

I will chose FRIDAY as my posting day. That is my weigh in day, so that should make it easy, especially since I have to post on the Peeps challenge that day as well.

My goal weight as of June 21st is my actual GOAL WEIGHT. I have a mental goal to reach my target weight by my birthday, which is June 17th. It will be a whole lot less depressing to turn 45 :scared1: if I am at least healthy and at a desireable weight. I have 19.4 pounds (as of last Friday) to lose to achieve this goal. This is only about 16 weeks away (including this week), so I will have to lose slightly more than a pound a week to reach my goal. No room there for goofing off!

My weight loss plan of choice will continue to be Weight Watchers. The hard part for me is the exercise. I have REALLY slacked off in the last few months and it definitely is showing (both on my body and on the scale!). Not sure exactly what kind of exercise committment I will make. I don't do anything too exciting other than walking/running on the treadmill, using the treadclimber and ellipitical, and a tiny bit of weight training (that is, when I actually DO exercise! :rotfl: ).

You can call me Pamela.... most people think that my screen name has an "i" in it and they call me Jill... not even close. If I had ANY idea how long I would end up here on the DIS, I would have chosen a far more exciting screen name!.....................P

I'd like to join too - I have a trip to Disney on 8/7/09, and I turn 40 in July so I want to get back to goal by then.

I am at 170.4 currently. I lost around 50lbs back in 2003 got to my Weight Watcher's goal (131) and went away for the weekend. I gained a few pounds that weekend and well its slowly been coming on since then. Then last year I reached my highest point of 176. I joined the BL7 challenge and I got down down to 169.4 - and then the past few weeks I've been doing well all week long and blowing it on the weekends. I have to crack down.

I count calories (on sparkpeople) and eat clean (like the Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno)-

Can we have more than one person post on a particular day? I'd prefer Friday's too - I'm assuming we will have more than 7 people, so I figure that should be ok. I plan on posting more than my day too!!

Oh my goal weight is 125! I'm looking forward to this - I must do this!!

And, let's kick off next week. March 1 is a nice clean slate. :thumbsup2

I'm not planning a Disney trip this summer :sad1: (although I wish I was), but would still like to drop my extra 15-20 lbs by swimsuit season! You never know when you might end up at a pool or the beach. ;)

My name is Lisa. I'm 40 years old ( ), so it's starting to get trickier to lose weight as the metabolism slows down a bit. I was at my goal weight for a year or so, but let it fall by the wayside last year due to medical issues -- which led to a "life is too short, so eat whatever you want" kind of attitude. About a month ago, I actually gave in and purchased some clothes in a larger size to wear to work, because I was tired of feeling pinched and uncomfortable in my smaller stuff.

One thing in my favor is that I have exercised regularly for years, so it's completely an ingrained habit. In fact, I teach a dance/aerobics class twice a week. My downfall has always been snacking, especially in the evenings.

I am trying to lose this weight slowly and permanently by:
1) exercising at least 4x a week
2) limited my evening snacking to set 1/2 hr in my day (usually 9:30-10 pm) -- I know that sounds really weird but it's working for me, setting that limit. I'm also keeping only healthy snacking stuff in my house.

I also would like to check in with weight on Fridays, but I'll be posting regularly during the week too. This sounds like a great group!

Not my day to post, but just wondering how everyone is doing? I took a sneak peek at the scale yesterday and wasn't thrilled with what I saw, but I did eat well this week, so I am trying not to get too discouraged.

I notice that there are three of us posting on Fridays, but no one on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. I'll change my day to Wednesday if that would help. It maybe harder for me to remember, so I will have to make a note on the computer.

I need some of that exercise motivation too! ............................P

Exercise motivation, huh? :yay: :yay: :yay: Not sure how to do that, but how about this -- the exercise will make you stronger, healthier, and allow your body to burn up fat more efficiently. Also, you'll need the muscle tone for that swimsuit this summer. :rotfl:

Congratulations on eating well this week -- that's awesome! :) I've been doing pretty good as well, so hopefully the scale will smile at me tomorrow. :cutie:

Hope everybody is having a great day!!!

well i've got the addict facing intervention mode going on here -- trying to enjoy any last snacks or sweets as of March 1 my DH and I have commited together to get real and drop enough weight that our pants/jeans fit.

BUT i did give up chocolate and wine for lent. i have been over-indulgent

forced myself onto TM this morning for 3 miles...after not working out since monday. i felt creaky and tight. amazing what a few days off can do for my muscles -- my back aches, my shin splints returned and i just out and out struggled

melanie - shall I mail you my ID? lol if you are at MGM you MUST ride ToT in my honor!

melanie - shall I mail you my ID? lol if you are at MGM you MUST ride ToT in my honor!

We will be arriving on Friday 8/7 after driving from PA (leaving morning of 8/6-but staying overnight in GA). We usually go do one or two rides at MK that day, but I'll make sure the first time I'm at MGM I do TOT for ya!! Mostly that day we stay at the hotel, unpack and rest.

I lost 1.2 this week so I'm at 169.2 this morning. I have 3 weeks till we go to Disney - I'd like to be in the lower 169's by then. I'll make that my first goal.

I'm hoping I can maintain while in Disney - I really want to eat clean while I'm there. I think I can do it - I just have to not let food win.

okay.... since there was no disagreement, I will change my posting day to Wednesdays. But since I am here, I will chat a little!

I'm so envious of you MelanieC! I would love to heading to the World soon. Probably won't go again until at least early next year. It makes us crazy (well, me and the kids anyhow.... DH doesn't care so much) to have to take so long between trips, but we only go when we can pay cash for the entire trip, and with saving for college and other household things, it take us about a year to save that much $$ (we do other smaller family vacations every year, plus I take a long weekend trip with each child every year, so we spend vacation $$ on those things as well). Enjoy the atmosphere for me! I love every ride (some more than others of course), but mostly I just LOVE the atmosphere. It make me tear up to just think about walking down Main Street early on a sunny morning... not many folks around, background music playing, the sight of the castle, the whole day ahead of us, no worries except how many times we will make it on Space Mountain and where we will eat lunch!

Anyhow.... I digress. ...... I lost 1 pound this week. Not great, but at least a step in the right direction. I journaled my food well and ate well, but I didn't exercise enough. But school vacation ends today, so next week I should be able to hit the gym or treadmill a little more often.

OhMom... good for you for doing the 3 miles! Do you run at all or just walk? I was up to running at bit during my "walks" when I was working out more diligently a few months ago, but since my exercise has become much more sporatic lately, the running just isn't getting done. I really would love to build back up to being able to run. It was UNBELIEVABLE how far/fast I was able to walk around the World last April. I walked MILES a day (as does everyone at WDW!) and it didn't phase me in the least!

Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Maybe we could do some recipe sharing?? I am desperate for things to make that the whole family could enjoy and I could eat more than 2 TB. of ! Anyone have anything good to share? Enjoy your weekend and eat healthy!...................P

PJlla -

Here is a recipe I got out of Oxygen magazine. I made it while DH was in Florida on a military trip (he just got home last night - yeah)

Its called Cashew Butter Chicken Stew. It was such a hit - the kids loved it and I was ewwing and awwing while eating it. It was a plate licker for sure, lol. I used about 24oz of chicken and when I was done it made 6 -1 cup servings and I figured it out in Sparkpeople and it was 337 calories per one cup serving. I put it over a half cup of rice for a well balanced meal.

Cashew Butter Chicken Stew:

2 C chopped red onion
1 red pepper, sliced in strips
1/2 t ground black pepper
3 cups LS chix broth
1lb chicken breast, cubed
3/4 C fresh parsley
1 med. granny apple cubed
1 C frozen lima beans
1/2 t salt
1/4 t cayanne pepper
1/2 C cashew butter

In larger nonstick pan saute onion, pepper and 1/4 t of black pepper for 4 minutes. Add broth, chix & parsley. Cover and bring to a boil. Simmer until Chix is cooked through and remove from pot.

Add apple, lima beans, salt, cayenne pepper to the broth. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Uncover and whisk in cashew butter until well blended. Return chix to pot.

Makes 8 servings. 188cal 11g fat, 14g carb, 2g fiber, 11g protein

I assume cashew butter is similar to peanut butter? DS is allergic to tree nuts, so I usually try not to even have them in the house, but peanut butter he is okay with (of course, he is also allergic to chicken, so maybe I had better try it some time when he is away at a friend's house!). Actually, I substitute lean pork for chicken in many recipes. So if the cashew butter could be substittuted with peanut butter, maybe I can give it a try? .......P

MelanieC
02-28-2009, 03:35 PM
Yep you could absolutely substitute it. I was actually surprised at how much it tasted like PB. It had no salt, and I think that was good for the dish. It was super yummy. Sorry to hear about the allergies. I'm lucky we have no allergies to work around. I bet that is super hard.

Good morning, everyone.

First official weekly post for our little club! YAY! Sadly, not the way I wanted to start, but oh well. I have been really good this past week. Didn't have any cheating or anything. Sadly, my body apparently decided that it didn't want to cooperate, so 0 change on the scale. :sad1: But, I'm going to try to keep motivation, work on it more and see what happens. Gotta keep the chin up, I guess!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

here we go........

i spent the weekend at an indoor water park with DD's youth group -- not the best eating but mindful of portions. today i brought out my food journal and began. workout later is a spinning class

pjilla -- i don't run, i just don't enjoy it i feel like i'm POUND POUND with every step; powerwalking fit my stride i guess better. the slowest I will go for cardio is 4.0, usually 4.1-4.2 is a good speed for me, but when I do speed intervals I get as high as 4.6 -- trying to improve speed and for the interval cardio benefits

I did not check in on Friday -- sorry, I was off from work and running around town with my daughter. :cool1:

I was down 2.2 lbs for the week, which I am thrilled with! Just have to keep the momentum going.

That cashew butter chicken recipe sounds yummy - I make something similar with peanut butter. It makes such a great sauce for the chicken. I'm printing it out to try next weekend.

Hope you all are having a great day!

I would love to join!

My name is Chris (aka Dizcrazy.)
i can post on Saturdays (or Sundays.)
I joined Weight Watchers again two weeks ago. Last week was my first weigh in and I lost 2.8 lbs. I've tried lots of diets byut WW works best for me. I think I need someone else to weight me - accountability!

Today, I weigh 166. :headache: I'd like to lose 26 lbs by June 21st.
My confession: I hate going to the gym. Soooo, I bought the wii fitness coach and it is had been okay. The exercises arent too hard so I havent been intimidated.

That cashew butter chicken reipe sounds YUMMY! Thanks!

First off.... Welcome to Chris! Glad to have you here with us! Wow.... 26 pounds by June 21st is going to be tough... but not impossible. Do you realize it is only about 16 weeks away?? I'd love to hear more about the Wii Fitness coach. Santa brought the family a Wii Fit and I have only been on it once! I'd love to put it to better use!

I've got another recipe if anyone is interested. It came recently in a Weight Watchers email. I tried it yesterday and I think it is delicious!

POINTS® Value: 4
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 10 min
Cooking Time: 60 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Warm up with our hearty sweet potato soup as the temperature starts to drop. Toast the pecans to help maximize their flavor.

Ingredients

2 large sweet potato(es)
2 cup(s) canned chicken broth, divided
1 tbsp reduced-calorie margarine
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 cup(s) fat-free evaporated milk
1 tbsp chopped pecans

Instructions
Preheat oven to 400ºF.

Pierce potatoes in several places with a fork. Bake for 45 minutes, remove from oven and allow to cool. When cool, remove and discard skin; chop potatoes.

Combine sweet potatoes and 3/4 cup of broth in a blender or food processor; blend or process until smooth, about 1 minute. Set potato mixture aside.

Melt margarine in a medium-size saucepan; stir in flour and ginger, and then add milk. Cook, stirring, until slightly thickened and bubbly, about 5 minutes. Cook 1 minute more and then stir in sweet potato mixture and remaining 1 1/4 cups of broth. Cook, stirring, until heated through, about 5 minutes more. Pour into 4 serving bowls and sprinkle each with 3/4 teaspoon of pecans. Yields about 1 cup per serving.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a dash of curry powder with the flour and ginger.

It was SO yummy and creamy... but I suppose you have to like sweet potatoes. I did add a bit of salt when I served myself. I did not use the nuts, since my DS has a nut allergy I don't keep them in the house. And I needed more than the 2 cups of chicken broth that it called for to blend the sweet potatoes... and I had to blend in two batches. I also cooked my potatoes in the microwave because I didn't want to heat up the oven for just that.... but I think it might taste a bit better and bring out the sweetness of the potatoes if they were cooked in the regular oven.

I also printed another recipe from the email.... I'll let you know if it is any good after I try it....................P

Wow.... you walk FAST! Even faster than I run usually! Well, for me it is not so much the POUND, POUND, POUND, as it is the "BOUNCE, BOUNCE, BOUNCE" (if you know what I mean ;) ) Even with a regular underwire bra and a sports bra on top of that, things don't stay very still! I would love to find some sort of bra or top that is really snug without strangling me. .............P

Hi everyone, I have been reading this thread the last few days, and wondering if I could join you all. I would be willing to post on Tuesdays.

Here is my background. My name is Joy. After two kids, I had gained quite a bit of weight so about 7 years ago, I started losing weight. I have been in a continuous battle ever since. In October 2007, right before our WDW trip, I finally got to my lowest weight in years, 158. I was happy with that and stayed around 160 for about a year. Then July 2008, brought two vacations, gained some weight, then the holidays, gained some more weight. Have been trying since the first of the year to lose again, but no success.

I currently am at 170. My first goal would be to get back to around 158, see how things go and then try for 155 or maybe 150.

I hope I can find the right motivation here. My husband tries to be encouraging, but I seem to always take it as criticism. Don't think he intends it to be that.

Am looking forward to working with all of you over the next few months.

Hi Joy! Welcome to the Summer Club! :cool1:
Yeah, my goal is 26 lbs in 16 weeks which is agressive. I was on a high after losing 2.8 last week, BUT honestly, as long as I am still being healthy (eating right and moving/working out) I will be happy. when I was in my early 20's, I was easily losing 2 lbs a week. but now . . . . it is harder to lose weight and also to behave myself!
Confession: we went out to chili's tonight and my friend ordered chips and salsa. I shouldnt have had any - I know - but I had a handful. I did cut myself off but i didnt need those chips or all of that salt. I mean, the good news is that i stopped myself and before, i wold have finished the basket . . . bad news is that i HAD those chips. :rolleyes1
To be fair, I did have the guiltless plank tilapia and broccoli for dinner. And I had coffee (black) for dessert while everyone else ate molten cake. AND get this: my skinny friend only ate 1/2 of her molten cake! (I guess that is wy she is skinny!) It took everything in my power not to grab her plate and like it clean!

Hi Joy! Welcome to the Summer Club! :cool1:
Yeah, my goal is 26 lbs in 16 weeks which is agressive. I wouldn't feel too guilty about the handful of chips and salsa, there are a lot worse things you could eat, ie. the molten cake. Rather than feeling guilty about the chips, feel proud about staying away from the cake.

Hey Chris,

After I posted about you not eating Molten Cake, I was checking my email and I had an email from Kraft Kitchens on how to make Midnight Molten Brownie Cupcakes. :rotfl: I don't think I will be saving that email.

Thought you would enjoy that :lmao: I thought it was pretty funny.

How is everyone today? Eating healthy?? I splurged and had a Lean Cuisine veggie pizza for dinner last night. I rarely eat frozen foods like that, but I was really in the mood and I was at the grocery store. I put some sauteed onions and peppers on it, plus a tablespoon of extra cheese. I had a serving of steamed broccoli and a large serving of roasted asparagus with it. The asparagus was delicious! Wish I had bought more. Not sure what we are having tonight.... with DH gone four nights a week lately, I don't plan big meals. The kids and I call it "grab and go" nights. We "grab" whatever is handy/leftover/easy and go eat it... sometimes together, sometimes not, depending on the homework and sports practice schedules.

Lunch today will be a large green salad (romaine, baby spinach grape tomatoes, cucumber, flax seed, few fatfree croutons and Paul Newman's lf sesame ginger dressing) and 1/2 C of the sweet potato soup I made on Monday. And afternoon snack will be melba toast topped with Laughing Cow cheese and sliced pear. Can you tell I am hungry already? Breakfast seems like hours ago! Have a great day everyone...................P

Have I mentioned my husband gave up junk food for lent? So in the evenings when I'm trying to quell my snacking, he sits there looking superior? A pox on him.....he'll probably lose 20 lbs before Easter!!

Tonight we're having tuna casserole for dinner. My evening snack is planned to be a pudding cup I've been hiding in the back of the cupboard. :cloud9:

Hope you guys are having a great day-- and welcome to all newcomers!!! :hippie:

How is everyone here? Not sure who's posting day it is, but I'm here to say hello. I've had a good week diet and exercise wise... probably the best I have had in a long time! Hopefully the scales will show it, but I will try not to be discouraged if they don't... especially since AF is here for a visit (but on her way out, thankfully!) (Sorry if that is TMI for any of you!)

My challenge today will be not eating the candy and soda I will be selling for a Robotics Team fundraiser tonight. Actually, the soda holds no appeal for me... but the Chunky bars and Raisinets sitting on my counter are calling my name! I have had them here for two weeks and haven't touched them.... I can do it for 12 more hours!

And tomorrow night's dinner is in question... we will be heading out of town before dinner time to go to Boston for a small Robotics demonstration. Not sure when/where we will get to eat. I'm thinking about planning some sort of "car picnic" for the four of us to be able to avoid the dreaded drive-through. I'll have to check what we have in the house today. I think I could find the stuff for four sandwiches, sliced fruit, and cookies (for the other three... not me). And I have canned soda and seltzer in the house (only because of the fundraiser... soda is not something we normally have in the house). Guess I will be packing us a picnic!

Anyhow.... I'm looking forward to hearing back from you folks and finding out how your week is going! Got any good food hints/snack ideas/recipes to share??

I'll share the peanut butter spread recipe I found in the Biggest Loser Book. I posted it on another thread... I'll be right back after I find it to cut and paste!................P

I'm back... here it is...

Here is the original recipe:

1 C silken tofu (approx 9 oz)

1/3 C peanut butter

4 tsp. honey

2 tsp. lime juice

Blend all ingredients together in a blender or food processor until smooth. Store in refrigerator.

Serving size: 2 TB - 80 calories, 5 g protein, 4 g carbs, 5 g fat, 1 g fiber

WW points per serving - 2

Here is what I used:

I used the tofu and peanut butter (1 lb. of silken tofu and 2/3 C p.butter... double recipe) but instead of honey I used Agave nectar (8 tsp. for the doubl recipe) and I did not use the lime juice. My blender seized up on me when I tried to use it, so I ended up blending this together with a whisk. It took a minute for the p. butter and tofu to get together, but it definitely worked. I might even try adding a splash of vanilla.

It is wetter than straight p. butter, but still spreadable. And I can essentially eat double the amount for the same points as straight p. butter! And I can see blending this into shakes or dipping fruit! HTH someone!

Morning!
I am having an "okay" week. I havent exercised but I am making decent enough food choices.
Work has been REALLT stressful this week, and usually that leads me to the vending machine for chocolate! I'm proud of myself for only buying water at the machines this week, so that is one plus.

i have done well on the exercise this week, 4/5 workouts done. either have to do my last one this evening or first thing tomorrow morning as I'm spending the day Sat with some friends scrapbooking. i'm excited for that!

today my WI was good, heading in the right direction even after a potluck at work Wed. giving up chocolate for lent is helping me out too! for this challenge i'm 2/10

it looks like the start of a beautiful day here, sunny and temps finally getting a little warmer here in the buckeye state.

oh yea -- yesterday I did my long walk (LW) for the week and allowed myself a little extra to balance off the extra calories needed. anyhow -- after i really wanted to crack open our box of GS cookies, the lemon sandwich ones. i knew if i opened it would be the end of it.....i was strong and didn't! yay me!!

Well.... not great news here.... I stayed the same on the scale. I'm frustrated, but I am going to try to channel that frustration into more motivation for next week. It is RARE that I stay the same, so I am a bit surprised.

I ate well, journaled all of my food, exercised three times (I know it should be more), drank buckets of water, and AF is on her way out, so I really expected a good number. oh well.

Here's hoping that everyone else sees a great number today!.................P

Hey everyone!!

I lost 2.6 this week - Woo hoo!

I have another cheer competition tomorrow. I'm going to have lunch before and then pack my snacks to eat during the day tomorrow. I WILL stay OP tomorrow. Sunday should be easy since DH has Guards this weekend. The only thing I really have to do on Sunday is church, so eating should be simple. I will even have time to make a nice dinner.

I've got another recipe if anyone is interested. It came recently in a Weight Watchers email. I tried it yesterday and I think it is delicious!

[COLOR="RoyalBlue"][SIZE="4"]POINTS® Value: 4
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 10 min
Cooking Time: 60 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Thanks for the recipe!!

Wow.... you walk FAST!

Try www.titlenine.com They have some great bra's for keeping the "bounce" at bay. They rate them by barbells and they have quite a few 3+ Barbells.
I don't see the one I usually get - I actually think I may try the frog Bra - lol!

Hi - Welcome!!! Glad your joining us!!

Hi all. I was wondering if you all would mind helping me out to make better food choices, especially snacks. I am a SAHM, and when I am home during the day, I tend to snack on bad foods that are around the house. I have fruit, veggies, yogurt and healthy snacks, but often choose the chips or trailmix, etc. I was wondering if it would be okay if when I am tempted to make a bad choice if I post here. I think this could help me to make a better choice. If you don't mind, I would like to try this.

Thanks, it is nice to have a group of people who are willing to help others in their journey to living healthy.

PS - If anyone has any good snack ideas, I would love for you to share them.

Just got back from WW and it is my turn to post.
I lost .5 lb. Not exactly what I hoped for but I'll take it!

I went over my fod journal (this was the first week that I kept one) with my leader and it looks like I had too much salt AND too many of what she calls BLTs (bites, tastes and licks!)

Joy: for snacks, I love microwave popcorn! I also have olives (think the Flat Belly diet) and hummus, cottage cheese or veggies. And Eddy's frozen fruit bars.

This week, I am REALLY going to try to eat more fruits and veggies and cut out salt.

PS - If anyone has any good snack ideas, I would love for you to share them.

First of all, if you can get those tempting snacks out of the house, DO IT! I rarely have regular potato chips in the house because they are a GREAT weakness of mine. One bag every few weeks for a weekend snack/treat for the rest of the family is all that I will buy. I also have trouble resisting trail mix, so that doesn't enter my door (fortunately most of the others don't love it like I do). I try hard to buy snacks for the family that I don't care so much about...... for example, I love Oreos but don't care about Chips Ahoy cookies... so if I am going to buy cookies for a family treat (which again is rare anyhow), it will be Chips Ahoy.

When I do buy something tempting, I try REALLY hard to tell myself that it is NOT for me... that is for the kids only! If I can convince myself that it is not mine, I do better. And I find that I can't usually have "just one". I need to have NONE! BTW, feel free to come here anytime if you need support or help resisting something. Somedays I am around a lot... other days, when I am working I am more sporatic, but I am usually around at least once a day.

Well.... nothing too exciting, but I will share some of my regular snacks.

Obviously, fruit is a snack of choice. I enjoy the regulars (apples, oranges, grapes, bananas), as well as a few other more exotic choices like kiwi and fresh pineapple (expensive so a rare treat).

For salty snacks I like cheddar cheese mini rice cakes, microwave popcorn, baked Lay's, pretzels, 100 calorie pack Ritz Mix. I really like nuts, but they are very high in points (although they are healthy), so I don't eat them... I have trouble controlling my portions. Plus DS is allergic,, so we just don't have them around.

For sweet snacks, in addition to fruit I like sf/ff pudding. I don't eat it often because I try to avoid the aspartame, but I really love my own concoction I made up.... 1 Cup of prepared sf/ff banana pudding, 1/4 C crushed pineapple, few blobs (2 TB?) fat free CoolWhip. I kind of heap it all together, give it a light stir, and YUM! Kind of tropical tasting. If I could figure out how to get some cocoanut flavor in there it would be tasty. Sometimes, if I have more points to use, I will dice in 1/2 fresh banana also. You get 1-2 servings of fruit, plus a serving or more of dairy.... all for dessert! Plus it is HUGE and filling! You could eat half of this to save calories and still have a great dessert.

I also like Fiber One bars. Some people eat them for breakfast, but I save them for dessert. I mostly like the peanut butter one, but they also make a tasty chocolate one and a caramel one.

My sweet splurge of the day is usually something that has aspartame like Weight Watchers chocolate cake or some sort of 100 calorie cookie (although I don't think that they all have aspartame).

For more filling snacks (for when you are really hungry, not just craving sweets or salt)..... I like cheese sticks (Weight Watchers makes a 1 point string cheese stick, and 1 point cheddar cheese squares), 100 calorie english muffin with 1 Tb. of the peanut butter/tofu spread I gave the recipe for earlier (2 points), 5 melba toast rounds with 1 wedge of Laughing cow spread on them and then topped with just a dab of peach pineapple salsa (2 points), celery stuffed with 1 wedge of Laughing Cow cheese (1 point), fruit salad (somehow it seems more filling when you eat your fruit with a fork instead of from your hand!), lowfat yogurt, 3 slices of Hormel Natural Choices smoked deli turkey (I spread with a touch of brown mustard and then roll them up... 1 point)..............that is all I can think of for now.

I have another recipe to share, but I don't have it next to me now, so I will find it tomorrow and share it. It is a lemon dessert and great for someone (like me) who loves Lemon Meringue pie and things like that. I call it Lemon Fluff (it is a recipe I modified from one I found in a magazine years ago).

That is all for tonight! ................................P

HI:yay:

Can I please join also? I am in desperate need for a support group. I can't do this on my own:rotfl2:

I am 53 years old and looking at getting a knee replacement in the coming year. I currently weigh too much:rotfl: In the 183 range (on a 5' 1" body)  - my goal would be to lose as much as possible and still staying healthy.

I am limited in my exercise routine because of my knee - it has been suggested that I try swimming or water aerobics. Starting that on Monday after work. I really have to watch what form of movement I do.

Diet plan - PORTION CONTROL!!! and healthier eating. So I am taking the best from various diet plans and see how it goes.

Disney connection - worked for them in the early 90's and DD is currently working at WDW :dance3: :dance3: DH and I are also in the process of building a vacation home in the Poinciana area:yay: :yay: so I tried to get to Florida as much as possible.

Can I pleeeeeeease join in? I will journal on Thursdays if that is ok.

Have a Magical Disney Day!! THANKS!!

Pamela - thank you so much for all the snack ideas. Especially the salty ones, that is what I really crave. Tonight I passed up Chex Mix and had a sugar free Jello pudding cup. It was actually tasty.

Is the fruit salsa you use, just store bought? I do love that, and I think that snack would meet both salty and sweet.

Again, thanks for all the ideas, I am excited to try some of them. :thumbsup2

Yup, the salsa is the Archer Farms brand from Target. I think it came in two fruit combos.... Mango Peach and peach pineapple. It is a yummy sweet/spicy combo flavor. I originally bought it thinking I would use it on chicken, but when I tried that the family didn't like it, so I had to think of another use for it. ............P

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Glad to have another onboard with us! I think Thursdays would be fine..and of course, you are welcome any other days as well!

I hope you enjoy the water aerobics. I did it for a while a few years ago and really liked it. It is amazing how you can sweat while in water!

I know we all use different eating plans here on the WISH board.... some of us use Weight Watchers, some do South Beach or Atkins, and a few folks use online plans/groups like Sparkpeople. No matter what kind of plan you choose to follow, I wish you luck. My only suggestion would be, to be SURE that you are recording your food somehow. Even if you are making up your own system of portion control and modified eating, it is still important to record what you are eating. Again, welcome.........................P

Welcome Chrismiss:

My dad had a knee replacement about 2 years ago, and he is soooo glad that he did. He was around 66 when he had his done. He was in terrible pain, and really had trouble walking. The surgery went great and the recovery wasn't that bad for him.

I would say to you to BE SURE you do all the physical therapy after the surgery. This is really what made my dad's recovery go so well. My dad would tell stories of people who came into therapy (who hadn't been going) and they had to tweak their leg and knee to break down all the scar tissue that had built up. My dad never had this problem, because he was religious about the therapy. He gets around almost normal now. Stairs are still a little struggle, and he can't ski or skateboard. :rotfl: This is the joke he likes to tell people, that his doctor told him he can't ski or skateboard any more, he never has done those things in his life.

Anyway, hope it goes well for you. Be sure to let us all know when you have the surgery.

Also, welcome to our little group. It really does help to have people to support you, encourage you, keep you honest and so forth.

Pjlla listed most of my fav snacks -- i have been cutting up veggies at the beginning of the week and storing in frig in one of those new rubbermain containers for fresh produce -- has a seperate piece on the bottom so water can drip and be away from the food. I have noticed others in my family dipping into the veggie container too, which motivates me to keep it filled :thumbsup2

if you are near and Aldi's - they have a peach salsa that is good as well - might be a seasonal item though

apples, light cheese sticks, yogurt, sf/ff pudding, Kashi TLC bars, that's mostly my snacks. i have a hard time in the late afternoon snacking with the girls after school

I agree about snacking with the kids. Sometimes, it is so hard to resist, I just have to get a piece of sf gum, so that I don't put something else in my mouth.

I'm 34, 5'4" and 254 pounds last time I checked. I really need help. DH is 400 pounds and doesn't like his routine changed (especially when it involves food and meat) which makes it really hard for me it's really hard to lose weight. He always says to put him on it too and when I do he freaks out and gripes which makes it worse. I'm the sole breadwinner right now so it's really stressful as well and it makes me want to snack a lot. I know I snack when I'm bored, stressed, depressed, etc. My willpower when I was young was amazing but now that I'm older it's so hard to resist.

I've decided that I'm going to go back on WW. Used to have great success with it and had lost 5 pounds before Christmas then I got sick and slipped off the wagon. I wound up on steroids for a month thanks to my asthma so I gained that and more back. Now I'm ready to try it again. I'm on meds for diabetes, GERD, asthma and blood pressure. Just recently I've added stuff for sinuses so I can try to stop having sinus and ear infections every month so the asthma will stay calm and I might be able to keep from having to take the steroids. It's a vicious cycle. I've got to get off of some of the meds. I want to feel better and save money by not having to buy those scrips anymore.

Hi Jennifer! Welcome, welcome, welcome! :hippie: It is so nice to have a group to diet with, especially when the hubby isn't! My DH is eating a bit healthier but that is it. And I am stress eater too, so we have that in common.

So we went out to lunch today at work. I HAD to go, but almost cried when the birthday boy announced in the car that he wanted to go to Five Guys Burgers. All I could think was "there goes today's diet!" But I did okay - i got veggies on a bun (with A1 sauce) and I really didnt feel deprived. I came back and checked Dottie's website for the WW points and the bun is 6 points (YOUCH!) but the veggies and A1 are only 3, so that was an 8 point lunch. (hamburgers are 7.5 points, so a burger/bun is 13.5 points.) Not as scary as I thought . . .

My plan of attack for this week . . . drink 8 glasses of water.

We are so glad to have you all here -- group confession is good for the soul! ;)

I enjoyed myself a little too much food and drink wise over the weekend, so I am spending this week atoning for it. :rotfl: Well, mostly I'm just going to try to keep to my plan -- healthy eating, lots of exercise, good evening snacks.

Have a great day, everyone!

I go on the site DWLZ (dottie's weight loss zone) to check points for restuarants. (Not sure if we can post site addresses)

I have also heard that calorieking is a good site too.

:welcome: snwtch!! i know that it is hard to eat healthy when the rest of the fam isn't into it; but think of it this way --- by modeling healthy eating and exercise, your DH will see the changes in you, gradually but eventually, and may start to think it's something he wants for himself. you want him to be healthy, right? teach him!

chrsmiss -- have fun swimming!

have a day on plan everyone, so when you lay your head down tonight you are proud of what you made of this day and it's part in your journey to healthyism....

Welcome Jennifer! Glad to have you here with us! I TOTALLY feel your pain in regards to the DH situation.

Long story short, my DH is also overweight. We lost weight together in 2003 (me on WW, him on Atkins). I lost 41, he lost 60+. We both kept most of it off for most of 2004 and into early 2005. Then we both fell "off the wagon" so to speak, and he gained all of his weight back (and maybe even more.) I gained 20 pounds back, which brings me to early 2008, when I decided to get back on track and recommit myself to the healthy eating of WW. I have lost another 51 and have 19 left to go. DH, unfortunately, didn't learn anything from Atkins... no portion control, no healthy habits, not fruits and veggie, etc. So he has no choice at this point but to either go low carb again, which I think is very difficult to maintain for a lifetime, or LEARN a new healthy eating style (such as WW), but of course he hasn't chosen to do this.

It is hard enough to eat healthy when the kids snacks are around... but add in DH's love of ice cream, real popcorn (which he makes EVERY weekend... loaded with butter), beer, and fast food, and it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE sometimes to stay on program. But I am committed to doing this, not just for myself, but to set an example for my kids (especially DD) and for DH. I am hoping that my success will encourage him to do something about his weight. But I cannot even SUGGEST that he do it... it has to be his idea... not just because it is a mental thing to get ready to change your habits, but because he HATES being told what to do!! Any suggestion from me would be met with resistance.

OKay.... so my story wasn't short! :rotfl: Good for you for restructuring your eating habits. It would be so GREAT if you could get off of some of those medications. It would seem likely that if you got your weight under control that the GERD and diabetes would improve, and probably also your blood pressure. You have SO MUCH to motivate you regarding your health issues (not to mention what is must be costing you at the pharmacy every month!). You CANNOT let DH's food problems affect your weight loss journey. But it will be tough. I'm sure your doctors have told you to lose weight.... but you can't do it until you are ready in to do it for yourself... and perhaps your DH is not at that stage yet. All you can do is set a good example, offer assistance when needed, and maybe he will get on board eventually.

Again, welcome to our little group. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Several of us are also on WW, so if you need food ideas, points, or whatever, let us know............................P

Hi and Welcome!!!!!

Smoothies - Freeze banana's and buy frozen fruit. Yogurt or milk, frozen banana and frozen fruit. You can even do peanut butter or another nut butter and banana

nuts and seeds - just measure them out. I usually do 14grams for a snack

peanut butter and nut butters - again measure it out due to fat

hummus - I make hummus (can of chick peas, 1tbsp olive oil, 1/3 cup tahini (sesame seed butter), juice of one lemon (I use an organic bottled lemon juice), 1 or 2 cloves of garlic (I leave this out sometimes because it isn't great on the breath when I eat a lot of this) - eat with veggies, in a wrap, pita or on bread, with whole wheat crackers, use instead of mayo

I try to pair a protein and a carb (whole grain or fruit/veggie) to my snacks - this really helps me stay full.

I have to be careful of the BLT's too - Last night I was licking my spoon that I was using to scoop the hummus a little too often, lol.

THANKS!!

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to have you joining us!

:welcome: Joy and chrismiss :welcome:

Don't you love when you see your family picking up your good habits. My kids do the same.

I had my first cheat in a few weeks. I had a piece of DD17's Birthday cake. DH made it - Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I felt guilty, but I'm moving on. At least I got to enjoy it with the family.

Today is going well. I'm looking forward to my lunch - its leftovers from dinner. Its brown rice, chicken with a sauce of oranges, orange juice and spicy grain mustard. I'll have to post it for you guys. Its good, it's clean and healthy.

First off, welcome to Chrissmiss and Snowwitch. Do you guys have a goal amount of weight youa re going for? let me know, and I'll update the main page.

And, since I missed my day. :scared1: here we go.

I dropped a pound this week, so that's something. With my foot healing, I'm hoping to really kickstart being more active. Hopefully that will help. Plus, with the weather warming up, it's easier to get outside and walk. That's about it at this point, I guess. I'm finding hte frustration growing, but I've gotta stick with it.

hi everyone,
quick question: is anyone here cuting out caffeine? Or soda?
I think that might e my next baby step goal . . .

For myself, I gave up caffeine years ago when I got pregnant with my first child. It was never terribly important for me anyhow, so it wasn't too tough. I never picked up the habit again and try to avoid caffeine all the time.

The diet soda is another thing..... I had a big CF Diet Coke habit for many years. But I KNOW how bad aspartame is for us and I knew I shouldn't be drinking it... regardless of my weight situation. I decided that I needed to change more than just my eating pattern, so when I started up WW again on January 2, 2008, I eliminated Diet Coke from my diet. And it has been easier to stick to than I thought. I drink water and seltzer. I LOVE seltzer, but not the $$ it costs, so I try to alternate it with water. Occasionally I add the 4C splenda-sweetened drink mix to my water, but only rarely. I think it is important to get used to just plain cold water. Fortunately our tap water at home is terrific, so it is easy to fill up a water bottle and take it along with me.

I never enjoyed regular soda, so that wasn't a problem.

Good luck with eliminating these things from your diet. It will be tough... especially the caffeine. I think as a society we have been "brain washed" to believe that you NEED caffeine to get awake, stay awake, whatever. SO NOT TRUE! Caffeine is a drug and should be treated as such... not used as a crutch in order to avoid getting a good night's sleep. And it really can impair a weight loss and it is NOT good for your bones! Think of those things and maybe it will be easier to eliminate it. Good luck!.......................P

Hi everyone,

Today is my day to post, so here I go. I have lost 1 pound. I would have liked it to have been a little more, but I know I didn't give 100% last week. Yesterday and today were better, but I do know I can do more.

The exercise part comes pretty easy for me, I enjoy doing it. I suppose that is one thing that bothers me. I exercise everyday, but it doesn't seem to help with the weight loss.

So I know what food I eat is part of my problem, although I have done better the last few days, especially with snacking. I found some 100 calorie english muffins, they are good with some bananas on top. I also have broke out the carrots.

Thanks to all of you for your posts, your ideas, your inspirations. Hoping this next week will end with good results.

joy -- cyber high five for the loss this week! if you did that 4 more times you'll be 5 lb lighter.....my point, don't downplay, any loss is a loss forever and we can celebrate with you :woohoo:

i'm stalling. today is my LW day and i'm stalling. oops i said that. was planning on TM but the sun is tempting me, rain is in the forecast though

i haven't done so good on my journal this week, my Mom is coming over tonight for a couple days and that usually distracts me too. give me strength!

epcotguy -- :yay: for a pound lost forever! i'm with you on the weather, it's maybe becoming more spring-like here, last night DH and I got a short casual walk in last night. so nice to be outside

HAVE GREAT DAY ON PLAN EVERYONE!!

ps -- i usually have 1-2 cups of reg coffee in the morning. on a rare day i have something caffeinated after lunch if I feel i'm dragging. i'm sure i'd be better of to drop it all together, i do think it helps me get going first thing though. maybe in my head too, who knows?

Hi everyone! I'm late to the party but I'd love to join. We're headed to the beach for a few days on 6//22 and then I'm in my SIL's wedding the following weekend so the timing of this group is just perfect for me.

Here's a little bit about me. I'm Alex. I'm 23 and am married with an 18 month old who I stay at home with. My husband and i gained quite a bit of weight after we got married. It doesn't seem to bother him but it bothers me. After I had my daughter I lost about 25 pounds but I've gained 20 back. At the moment I'm at about 155 (not sure because the battery on my scale is dead, I'll get a replacement). My ultimate goal is to lose about 30 pounds, but for this challenge I think 20 is a more realistic yet challenging goal.

I'll make sure I update on Thursdays, but I'm sure I'll check in more than that. I need accountability. I think the main thing I need to do is get off my butt and move more and snack less on junky food. I've started taking vitamins this week and I already feel better. Hopefully this will give me more motivation to workout. Good luck everyone!

Glad to have you here!!! I think marriage automatically adds poundage -- having been married now for going on 18 years, I have to think back to the stone age, but I remember ordering lots of pizza in those days!! :)

To the rest of our group:
I have so enjoyed hearing about everybody's plans and food and exercise, etc. It's very motivating for me and helps me get ideas. So thanks!!! :lovestruc

I am feeling very good this week, very strong. I had a rough weekend with food and drink, but I've been on track and doing my thing all this week to make up for it. It may or may not show on the scale tomorrow, but if not, I think I'll still be okay with it. I've done the best I can...so that's good enough for this week. Right?

I hope you're all having a nice day -- check in often, okay? See ya soon! :yay:

I just realized that today is Thursday and I am suppose to post.

Pretty sad when you forget what day of the week it is......:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Anyway I didn't weigh myself today because I forgot it was Thursday!!!

I can tell you that I have started to exercise - Tuesdays and thursdays I go to the pool - haven't drowned yet:rotfl2: Hoping to get that to 3 times a week. Twice a week I life weights and do the dreaded stomach crunches:rolleyes:

Epcot - I don't have a set goal loss - I just plan on losing as much weight as possible in a healthy way. It has been such a road with my knee that I am not looking for miracles just results:banana:

Haven't had a chance to get to spark people yet - planning on that this weekend.

It is a slow process but I figured it took years to put the weight on.

Good Luck to all - Have a losing week and I will be talking to you soon.

I am on and I am happy! I lost 2.2 this week, which definitely makes up for the holding pattern I was in the previous week. And it shows that the 5:15 am workouts are doing their thing! I am finally only a little under 2 pounds away from my pre-Christmas week weight, which is my all-time adult low weight, so once I hit that weight again, I will feel like I am moving in the right direction again. Lately I have felt like I am a hamster in a wheel... working hard but going nowhere, since I was still trying to lose my holiday weight. Not sure I am going to make my birthday goal, unless I have MANY more weeks like this one, but I am not giving up!

Hope everyone else has a good day! I'll try to check back later...................P

And this weekend.....hmm. Well, everybody will be out of the house for a little while tonight, so I think I'm going to do the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. I'm hoping for some nice weather over the weekend, so I can maybe drag my bike out of the garage, but we'll see. ;)

I can tell you that I have started to exercise - Tuesdays and thursdays I go to the pool - haven't drowned yet:rotfl2: Hoping to get that to 3 times a week. Twice a week I life weights and do the dreaded stomach crunches:rolleyes:  It is a slow process but I figured it took years to put the weight on.

Good Luck to all - Have a losing week and I will be talking to you soon.

Good for you! Swimming and weights sounds awesome -- I'm sure you'll be successful. And I agree, it took awhile to put the weight on, so it will likewise take awhile to come off. We're an impatient society, but it's those of us who keep plugging away, that will reach our goals in the end. Just my opinion. :goodvibes

Hooray -- you're doing so great!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: My husband runs over to the Y in the mornings around 5:30, and I am in awe of those who get their workouts knocked out so early. I'm an evening exerciser.

Well, I was down 1.8 lbs this morning, so am at a total of 7.4 lbs since I started tracking at the beginning of Feb (about 6 weeks). I am completely thrilled with this result, and eager to keep going. I'm peering around the corner towards my final goal, so it's very exciting! And motivating too. :woohoo:

Hope you are all having a nice Friday the 13th! Enjoy the weekend.

Well I didn't gain or lose - I guess that is good considering I had 2 pieces of DD17's birthday cake. Uggh - I was hoping to continue the momentum from last week. But -its a new week.

I'm starting to panic - its one week till I leave for Disney - The clock is ticking now. Lots to get done and I've got to come up with a "sort" of plan for eating there. I will do this.

Melanie, when I went to Disney, I ordered some of the kids meals to help me with portion control, and I had fruit and micowave popcorn in the room (we sometimes came back in the afternoon.)
I'll bet if you eat "okay" you'll do okay - think of all the exercise you will be getting!

Well... I just spent 20 minute typing you this great reply about eating at WDW... but my STUPID computer hiccuped right as I hit "submit" and it seems that my reply is a no-show.

Anyhow, I'll quickly share a few things that helped me in WDW this past April.

#1. Share meals whenever you can. The portions, especially at counter service places, are large. Sometimes my kids would order some sort of combo meal and not like one of the items it came with (usually something healthy, like the hot vegetable, side salad, or such). If they both gave me their unwanted side and I ordered myself a small salad or veggie burger or such, that was enough for me. It saved me calories and $$.

#2. At buffets, eat ONLY what is TERRIFIC. We had dinner at CHef Mickey's. After filling up on salads, I went back and took small portions of things that looked wonderful, like Prime Rib, garlic mashed potatoes, and a few other things. I ate what was wonderful and ignored what was not so great. Same for desserts.... I got three to try... one KeyLime cheesecake bite, a small scoop of bread pudding, and some sort of oreo cookie-mickey ear thing. The Keylime was tasty, the bread pudding was SUPER and the oreo thing was NASTY. I only had one nibble and that was ENOUGH. I didn't finish it. I only went back for another small scoop of the bread pudding. I was very satisfied, not STUFFED and had truly enjoyed everything I ate.

#3. Bring along some foods from home to help out. I brought along FiberOne bars and a few other things from home. They came in handy both for breakfast and for quick snacks in the parks. Don't get me wrong, I had my share of Mickey Pops, one Dole Whip, and I shared a caramel apple with DD, so I definitely had treats during the week.... just not several per day. Sometimes just a nibble of someone's ice cream was enough to satisfy that desire.

#4. Keep hydrated. It is easy for you to mistake thirst for hunger, so ALWAYS keep drinking..... and speaking of drinking...

#5. Watch the "liquid calories". It is easy to overindulge in those fancy cocktails and such while at WDW, but they are full of calories. Alternate your alcoholic drinks with water or seltzer to keep you from going overboard.

#6. Look for the better choices available, no matter where you are eating. It may take some searching, but most place you can find a salad, side veggie, grilled chicken, veggie burger, fruit salad or fruit side, etc. Make up your own combo meals from these items if necessary. Avoid anything that you KNOW is full of fat and sodium, like hot dogs, burgers, fried foods and FRIES. (Fries are not that special...you can get them anywhere, so no need to spoil your diet at WDW over something like FRIES!). Save your calories for SPECIAL foods like Dole Whips (or whatever your "special-only-eat-at-Disney food is).

#7. Set a time, date, etc when you will get back on program when you return home. Usually it would be best to say "the morning after we return." Otherwise it is easy to keep eating in "vacation mode". This is the voice of experience speaking and so I KNEW on this last trip we took that I had to TELL MYSELF that the morning after our return it was back to "business as usual" with my Weight Watchers points and exercise. It would have been TOO easy to just keep putting off getting back on program, but since I had set myself a "rule" before we even left, I knew when I had to get back to real life!

Anyhow, these are just some things that have helped me in the past. I did gain about 3 pounds on our last visit, but I wasn't overly surprised and it came off without too much difficult over the next two weeks. And I NEVER felt deprived while on vacation. Hope some of this helps......................P

All great advice :thumbsup2 but I think #6 is terrfiic! You can read the restaurant menus before you go and get a good sense of which places offer healthier choices! For example, I like the choices at Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland (a place I walked by every other visit) were better for me than the hot dogs at Casey's!

well my DH just got home from his workout, i better join in. i just re-read my post asking "what are you doing to workout this weekend?" which totally nixed my thinking of skipping out today  i'll be heading to my VCR for a kick butt QuickFix strength workout --

thanks for the :wizard: for my WI, unfortunately i was not a loser, rather up 1 lb which doesn't bum me, I fluctuate 3-4 lbs usually. gotta keep working hard and show a loss NEXT friday!! yessirreeee

Sorry I haven't been around much. The time change knocked me off my schedule and I've been sleeping more than usual. Friday was really Friday the 13th at my office. ALL of the call center staff called in so the advisors were doing shifts in our offices, in our walk-in lobby and in the call center. Thank goodness it was Spring Break. At least the day went by quick. Then I went to my mom's to babysit my puppy since I can't have her in the apartment. It's not fair to keep her in a 1 bedroom apartment when she can have a whole house to run around in with a yard.

Anyway, I did my weigh in and even without much exercising and my momentary lapse with eating Chik fil a yesterday, I lost half a pound. It was 249.5. Though I really don't have a weight loss goal right now, I would like to lose at least 20 pounds to start with then work from there. This is going to be a hard road but I think I can do it.

YES, YOU CAN DO IT! And yes, it will be a hard road... sometimes harder than others, but you just need to do it one day at a time. I have been doing WW continuously for 15 months now (not counting the full year of 2003 and lots of other various times in the past) and there are some days when I breeze through and other days when I wonder "HOW WILL I DO THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!?" But I just need to do it one day at a time and let the "rest of my life" come as it will.

Too bad you don't have your puppy with you... it would be a great excuse to take long walks.

It is a great idea that you have set a mini-goal for yourself. Sometimes it gets so overwhelming to look at the total amount to lose. For myself, when I started again 01/2008, my initial goal was to return to WDW weighing LESS than I had in 2004... which was about 30 pounds away! I worked my butt off and didn't cheat even ONCE from 01/02/2008 until the day we left in April and I lost almost 35 pounds. Then I set another mini-goal, and then another. I have met some goals and missed a few, but I have kept plugging along. I now have another rather ambitious goal to reach. I want to be at my target weight by my birthday in June. Not sure if I will make it, but I think I will AT LEAST be close. Anyhow, keep plugging away at your initial goal. You will make it before you know it and then it will be time to take a minute to re-evaluate and set your next mini-goal. For some people, monthly goals work good (for example... I want to lose 5 pounds during the month of _____). For others it is more about the pounds and less about the amount of time. But remember to keep your goals realistic.

Keep visiting us here and we will try to be helpful!....................P

Well everyone, I for sure fell off the wagon this weekend. My husband had a stomach bug and my daughter was teething and super cranky and diffucult. i didn't work out at all and ate bunch of crappy stuff. I am back on today and trying not to this about the weekend.

My husband did mention sunday that some guys from church invited him to come workout with them at the gym. It isn't a bad price and might get him more willing to eat the more healthy things i've been making. we shall see. It sure would make it easier for me to stay on track when he's not bringing home chips and candy

Anyway, here's to a much better week.:thumbsup2

I am doing the same thing - back on plan today. I had a migraine hit me around lunchtime yesterday, and I let it derail my food for the rest of the day and evening. Normally, I can just deal with it and move on when it happens during the week -- somehow on the weekend, it just pulls me off track.

Going to do my 30 day shred tonight -- trying the 2nd level for the first time. Wish me luck!! :hippie:

Hi Everyone!
How many times a week do you weight yourself? I used to just stick with Saturdays, but today I "felt thinner" (meaning my pants weren't tight) so I stepped on the scale and it says I GAINED TWO POUNDS SINCE SATURDAY!

What the heck . . ??!

PRECISELY the reason that I try to only weigh myself once a week.... it is too much of a rollercoaster! And I can't let my daily mood ALWAYS be determined by what I see on the scale! So I try to stick to only weighing on Fridays. I will occasionally take a sneak peek on Tues or Wednesday if I feel (like you did) that things are going well. But it usually backfires on me. If I AM doing well I end up feeling like I can cheat and get away with it. And if I am doing POORLY I get mad/depressed and sometimes eat to make myself feel better! So I am dammed if I do and dammed if I don't! Try to stick to once a week.... same day, same time of the day, same level of clothing (or naked if you are home!)........................P

ETA: Don't let this "number" discourage you. Maybe you are toning and losing inches instead of pounds. Or maybe it is just some water weight or something like that. Keep at it, at least until your next "regular" weigh in. You may be pleasantly surprised!......P

Epcot82Guy

I agree. The best advice I ever got for weight loss was from my nutritionist friend. He said, "The true measure of weight loss is how your clothes fit. The amount of fabric doesn't miraculously change overnight." The scale is so imprecise and lumps a lot of things together. It can be really discouraging, and gaining two pounds (which, ironically, could easily be water since it takes less than a QUART of water to equal two pounds) of non-weight can make you feel defeated so you pick up the chips and gain two pounds of real weight. I understand that feeling all too well, so I'm all about the movement to measure by our jeans rather than our scales! :woohoo:

This is why I've been glad my scale has a dead battery! If i gained I would usually just end up saying "forget it..I'll eat whatever I want!"

So my scale still has no battery (my stinking husband works at a electronics store and can't bring home a battery!?) But I feel good and that's the important thing. Plus my jeans a little looser. I've worked out 5 of the last 7 days which must be some kind of record for me.

My biggest stumbling block is will power and my husband. for example, yesterday I was having a crappy day. My daughter was in a bad mood all day and being really whiny which in turn put me in a bad mood. So my dh brings home chocolate and chips. Now I know that I should be able to say no but I'm an emotional eater and I was so stressed I caved.

My solution to my emotional eating is just don't bring it in the house. If it's not here I won't eat it. I don't think my dh is trying to sabatoge me or anything, but he knows I'm trying to lose weight and he also knows if we've got the candy and junk here, I'll eat it. Then he gets all defensive when I ask him not to do it anymore. "I was just trying to make you feel better..."
What would really make me feel better is fitting into my clothes and feeling good in a swim suit this summer.

Is anyone else an emotional eater? How do you deal with it?

03-19-2009, 03:04 PM
here here! i'm definately an emotional eater, i have found that I snack, and that would be anything with sugar :rolleyes1 , when i feel overwhelmed in life. trying to take things bit by bit.....

today is my day, tomorrow is my weigh-in day. i'm having a good week, so far; which is helping me stay on track today. i didn't workout today so trying to keep the calories on the low end, so i've had to talk myself out of the kitchen a couple times. ugh. i have 2 more workouts to do this week, planned on doing one today but had to work later than planned and just couldn't get up my umph. so now i'm on for Fri and Sat -- no excuses -- just get 'er done

:welcome: Sleeping Beauty!

ace   i'm here to celebrate with you! know what? you got moving and that's something to shout about! :cheer2: :cheer2: no more criticizing your activity, anything accomplished is 100% better than the thought just hanging out in the brain and not ever carried through. i've been having a hard time this week motivating myself. i keep thinking about shorts, and WDW and summertime and just that there isn't anything in my kitchen that I value more than how great it is when my clothes fit all the time :thumbsup2

hang in there everyone!!! do we need a mini-challenge for this weekend? no processed sugar? one extra workout? (ugh!) snacks to be veggies only? anyone?

I love the idea of a weekend challenge! I don't have any great ideas of what would bie good though. But I am up for it if someone else comes up with an idea!

Thinking thin for my weigh in tomorrow. I did an excellent job with my eating and good job with exercise (although, as usual, I could have done more). I am hoping to see a pound gone, but I had a really good loss last week, so I don't want to get my hopes up. PLus, as I mentioned a few posts ago, I am experiencing some extended "female" issues so that may show up on the scales as well. But no matter what, I won't give into emotional eating tomorrow or over the weekend!

Acename.... I totally get the emotional eating. I go for salty/crunchy when I am "eating angry" or for some kind of comfort. And I agree with the "just don't have it in the house" mentality. Although sometimes it seems like I will eat ANYTHING when I am upset. But if all that is available is melba toast rounds, light microwave popcorn or pretzels, I'll do far less damage to my waistline than if I was eating salt and vinegar chips or cheddar/sour cream chips! I do most of the shopping and I only buy chips as a once in a while treat on weekends. I'm so much better off that way. And so is my family. Even though DS and DD don't have weight issues, they certainly don't need to be eating that junk! And believe me, if it is here, DD will eat it! She is her mother's daughter! SO anyhow, KEEP THE JUNK OUT and you will find life easier. Not sure what you should tell DH. Mine is clueless as well and I have given up getting him to get it! Good luck......................P

Sorry I didn't take the time earlier to welcome you properly! Welcome to our cozy little group! Glad to have you on board. I look forward to hearing from you on Sundays ( and any other day you care to join us!). Isn't an upcoming WDW trip a GREAT weight loss motivator?! It is the only time I voluntarily allow my picture to be taken and I have had enough of filling my scrapbooks with FAT pictures! But the biggest problem is keeping up the motivation AFTER the trip. That was my downfall in January 2004 after losing 41 pounds in 2003. I returned from my trip effectively "off the wagon" and never truly got back on. I managed to maintain most of my weight loss for about a year or so, but I eventually regained about 20 pounds.

I lost weight AGAIN for our most recent trip (lost almost 35 pounds). I was DETERMINED I wouldn't return to WDW fatter than I was the last time!! But I also knew I had to get RIGHT BACK ON program as soon as we returned. And lo and behold, I DID! But of course, I still had lots to lose and I am still plugging away at it with about 15-ish pounds still to go.

Anyhow, welcome again..............................P

But.....it is what it is.

I am working my plan, doing what I should be doing, and I'm chalking this up as just a blip. AF is in town (too much info, sorry), so I'm expecting this will even itself out next week. Until then, I'm continuing down the path.

sorry to flake on the weekend challenge....my internet was not right most of the week and then bam! down we were. cable coming out Wed for a real fix, my DH has band-aided the problem for now....

next weekend we'll do a challenge. think everyone think!!

pjlla -- i admire your determination to get right back on plan after a vacation. this is always a struggle for me, in fact it is after the christmas holiday too. i really need to get better at this, we have a few mini-getaways this summer before our WDW and I really really am determined to be at goal (hopefully lower for cushion ;)) in Aug.

today i'm off for a walk, about 4 miles and this afternoon my DD and I go to spinning. i rarely double-up, even though I know doing that is a high effective way to boost a metabolism. truth is, i missed one walk over the weekend and I need to get all 5 workouts in during the week. that means no day off until Saturday. cheer me on please this will be a challenge for me!

Hey everyone. Happy Monday (if that is possible). I've been doing pretty well. My foot is finally healed, so I am back to walking to work, and I am goign to try to make my first dance class tonight. Excited to get back into it after a 10 year hiatus. I decided to keep the scale broken as several of us have discussed. I'll let my pants do the talking. I think my new goal is to be able to wear every pair of jeans in my wardrobe without "squeezing". That would be a huge accomplishment for me, and I think it means a lot more than a number right now. So, here's to my goal! :yay: I know that means a lot of snack controlling, but I'm finding that, since I know I am going to snack, that I simply am reducing the size of my actual meals. So, if I know I'm going to be bad and down 100 calories of chips, that's 100 calories that has to come out of lunch. We'll see how that goes.

I tried to post yesterday but the boards were down. I lost 2 pounds since last week. It's not much but it's a good start. Things have been a little busy. I did a lot of cleaning over the weekend so I think that counts as a workout. Trying to lose a bit more before we try to head to Orlando next month. There's no way I can be cosplay ready by April 18 but I would like to lose a little more.

Hi all!
I'm challenging myself to hit the gym every day this week. And I'm drinking my water - actually, I am drinking Sassy Water - that water from the Flat Belly Diet. It is supposed to help you "detox" (combined with eating their recommended foods.) Anyway, the water is tasty and having some natural flavorings is helping me drink more.

Here is the recipe for the water:

8. 5 CUPS WATER
1 TSP/ GRATED GINGER
1 MED. CUCUMBER
1 MEDIUM LEMON
12 SPEARMINT LEAVES

COMBINE EVERYTHING AND LET IT STAND IN FRIDGE OVERNIGHT. DRINK ALL WATER THROUGHOUT NEXT DAY

sorry to flake on the weekend challenge....my internet was not right most of the week and then bam! down we were. cable coming out Wed for a real fix, my DH has band-aided the problem for now....

next weekend we'll do a challenge. think everyone think!!

pjlla -- i admire your determination to get right back on plan after a vacation. this is always a struggle for me, in fact it is after the christmas holiday too. i really need to get better at this, we have a few mini-getaways this summer before our WDW and I really really am determined to be at goal (hopefully lower for cushion ;)) in Aug.

today i'm off for a walk, about 4 miles and this afternoon my DD and I go to spinning. i rarely double-up, even though I know doing that is a high effective way to boost a metabolism. truth is, i missed one walk over the weekend and I need to get all 5 workouts in during the week. that means no day off until Saturday. cheer me on please this will be a challenge for me!

Good luck with your workouts this week! I'm sure it will pay off! By the way, thanks for all the encouragement. Today it has for sure paid off.

So I finally got my battery for my scale, and even though it's not the day I chose for my weigh in I wanted to check it out. I'm down 1.5 lbs more than I thought so I'm ahead of the game. I'm at 153.5 and I'd like to get down to 135 before we go on vacation in June.

My daughter and I just shared some organic raspberries for a snack (.99 mark down at Kroger -score!) I just put her down for a nap and now I'm going to work out some and clean up.

Can't wait for the weekend challenge!

Sounds like you are in the same situation as me. I was just a few pounds lower than your weight at last week's weigh-in and I want to be at 135 by my birthday in June. If you figure it out, it is a little more than 1 lb. per week, which seems to be getting tougher as I get closer to goal. I've kind of "bumped up" my work-outs in an attempt to keep the weight coming off. I had a sneak peek at the scale Sunday morning and it looks like this will be a good week, but I won't be disappointed if things change by Friday. Sometimes I just CAN'T figure out the scales! I never took my measurements when I started losing weight, so I really don't have any good idea what I have lost for inches (other than the outgrown clothes). I did take a "18 pounds to go" picture a few weeks ago, but it is the FIRST intentional picture I have taken of myself.

What program/method are you using to lose your weight? (Maybe you said previously.... I'll go back and look when I am done posting.)

Well, continued good luck. Maybe we can congratulate each other come June on reaching our mutual goal!.......................P

Evening All

I have not been around lately and I apologize for not posting on my assigned day. Life keeps getting in the way:confused:

I have a hard time making myself a priority - I dont have small children (mine are 24 and 21) so why don't I make myself number 1:confused3:confused3

I looked at the sparkpeople website and got very confused - does anyone have experience with it.....looking for a basic website that can help me figure out how many calories I am taking in.....also are there websites that if you plug in your recipe - it can tell you the calories?

I am also one that is going to stay away from the scale and let my clothes do the talking!!! I become a slave to the scale and that is not always happy for me.:rotfl:

Thanks for letting my join and I will be posting more often.....you guys are GREAT:cool1::cool1:

I think that I have read that the formula for figuring out what your daily calorie intake should be is "goal weight x 12". Don't quote me on this, but this sounds familiar. I'll look around and let you know if I am wrong.

I would LOVE to find a website like you mentioned. I know that on Weight Watchers.com if you have the paid subscription (and maybe if you are doing WW online), they have something like this that tells you the points from recipes you put in. It was SO helpful when I used it in the past, but I am too cheap right now to pay for the subscription. But it would be so helpful come dinnertime!

Good luck staying away from the scale. I don't think I could do it!.............P

How is everyone doing here as the week is half done?

If you haven't done your exercise for today, I challenge you to get in AT LEAST 15 minutes of walking/running/stairs before your head hits the pillow tonight. You will go to bed feeling much better about yourself and it may give you a kick start to be sure to get your exercise done tomorrow! I am working tomorrow, so my exercise tomorrow will be a 5:15 am workout with the Wii Fit. My treadmill is in my bedroom. It is not too noisy, but I like to watch tv while I walk/run, so that gets noisy! I'll probably do 10 minutes of Super Hula Hoop, 10 minutes of basic 1-person runs, some advanced stepping, and some yoga. Not the same as my 30-45 minute treadmill time, but if I keep moving it should be a decent workout.

Anyone interested in a weekend challenge? I know we talked a bit about it last Friday. If anyone is interested, speak up and let me know if you are more interested in a food-related challenge or an exercise-related challenge. If there is any interest I will try to come up with something and post it by Friday morning. Just for fun, just to keep us motivated..................P

Good Morning!

I've been to the gym every day since Monday, so from an exercise standpoint, I am having a good week. From an eating standpoint . . . I guess I am doing okay. I'm drinking my water and counting my WW points but the scale isn't going down as quickly as I had hoped. I guess we all feel that way sometimes . . .

pjlla: I am TOTALLY up for a weekend challenge! Weekends are tough for me (I tend to cheat and not exercise) so whichever challenge our Club votes for is fine with me.

I'm not really on a particular program. Just a "get off my butt and don't eat a bunch of junk" plan. :rotfl: I didn't take my picture or measurements either but I know my clothes fit better, particularly one pair of jeans that had gotten VERY tight. Good luck and I hope we're both celebrating too. BTW, my birthday is June 18th. when's yours?

Thursday is my check in day. It was a good day because the scale read 150! I think it's because of water weight. I've decided to give up Diet Dr Pepper  and I think that's making a difference. So 15 pounds to go!

I didn't work out yesterday because of a super awful headache, so I'm trying to make upfor it today with 40 minutes of excercise. I've done 10 so far, with my daughter I have to try to work in 10 to 15 minutes whenever I can.

Good luck everyone!

My birthday is June 17th! Anyhow, great job on the scales! DEFINITELY try to give up the diet DP. In addition to the aspartame being really bad for you, there are studies that show that diet sodas can actually make you crave sweets!

I am just at 150.2 as of last Friday's weigh-in. (I can't believe I am admitting my weigh in public!!) My lowest in the past few months (actually Thanksgiving morning) was 149.?? (can't remember exactly). I would kill to be there again. I gained a few pounds T. giving weekend and just barely got it off by Christmas when I gained six pounds. I have been working at taking off the "Christmas 6" since 1/3/09! I can't believe how long it has taken (admittedly, I was only working at the WW and exercise half-heartedly for most of January and early February). It makes me mad to know that I could be AT goal already if I didn't keep struggling to remove holiday weight!! It SO wasn't worth it (the turkey and prime rib was good, but not THAT good!).

Here's keeping my fingers crossed that I see a new number in the TENS place tomorrow morning. I will admit, I will be very disappointed if I don't, but I won't let it discourage me!

I'll post a weekend challenge in the morning! I didn't hear from many of you, but perhaps you have had a busy day. I'll try to post early in the a.m. so that everyone can get started on the challenge right away (some people consider Friday, or at least Friday evening, part of the weekend)............P

Okay..... here is my combined Friday post, Friday weigh-in and weekend challenge post!

I am UP .6 lb today! I can't STAND it! That frustrates me so much! I worked so hard this week. But I am going to channel my anger and frustration into working harder! Hopefully it is just water weight or some sort of TOM issue (I think I am perimenopausal, so I am never sure what is going on with my body!). And next week hopefully I will see a nice healthy loss on Friday morning!

Okay Summer Club participants... your weekend challenge, if you choose to accept it, is as follows:

It is a two part food and exercise challenge.

Part one is exercise. I challenge to to incorporate something new into your exercise this weekend. For example.... if you don't usually exercise on the weekends, I challenge you to work out, for at least 15 minutes, both Saturday and Sunday.

If you DO exercise on the weekends, I challenge you to throw in something new. If you are a strictly walking/running type, try 15 minutes of Yoga or strength training each day. If you love yoga and Pilates, try 15 minutes of brisk walking or running each day. If you are usually a coach potato on the weekends, I challenge you to move briskly for 15 minutes each day.... run the stairs in your house, lift weights, do the Wii Fit with your kids, take a bike ride, shoot hoops, rake the yard.

If you already do ALL of this, then challenge yourself to run further/faster, lift more, hold that position a few more minutes. Get the idea???

As for the food challenge: I challenge you to add one new, healthy food that you have never tried (or haven't tried in a long time) to your menu AT LEAST once this weekend.

If you never eat carrots or broccoli, try them either raw or steamed. How about asparagus (in season right now and delicious) or brussel sprouts (not in season, but available)? If you never tried cottage cheese, buy some (low fat is great) and add some fruit (I love it with pineapple) and give it a try.
I am going to try mashed turnips and carrots this weekend. I haven't tried turnip since I was a KID and my parents made me eat it. But my Mom and Dad eat it frequently and rave about it. So I am going to buy one tonight and give it a try. I eat most veggies, so it is hard for me to find one that I don't like/don't eat.

Get the idea?? Any questions, let me know, but this is just a "try something new" weekend challenge, so pretty much anything goes. Just come on over here and let us know what you did and how it went. Maybe you will develop some new routines (or maybe not), but at least you tried something new!

Good luck!.......................P

I maintained this week, fine and good, but i want a loss next friday, so bring on the weekend challenge. I prefer a food challenge

and----ta da! ---- i'm going out for my LW (long walk) in an hour or so, and that will be day 5 of 5 so i did it! :woohoo:

i have been on sparkpeople quite often, not right now but there was a time i used it daily. i go in spurts and get bored easily ;) what can I answer for you? and I believe sparkpeople recipes allows you to enter a recipe and get nutrtionals?

Scale came in at 0.6 lbs down this week. That gives me a total of 6 lbs from when I started in February. More importantly, my clothes are not strangling me anymore, which is always good news.... :rotfl:

For our weekend challenge:
I'm planning to pick up an exercise video at the library this weekend, so I can try something new. And if the weather cooperates (which I'm hearing it may not), I'd love to get outside on my bike for awhile.

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday! :hippie:

For the weekend challenge I having my Dh pick up Jillian Michaels 30 day shred tomorrow at work (he works at Best Buy). I'm also going to drag out my yoga dvd tomorrow. I need a good stress reliever to keep from eating and I think that might do it.

Food is going to be little bit more difficult for me too. I don't go to grocery on the weekends and the nearest good one is about 20 minutes away (I'm way out in the country). I have some ground turkey in the freezer though. I may pull that out and find a new recipe for it.

I'm actually starting to enjoy working out a little. I found a work out in FIt tv that I like. It's dance so it's a lot of fun. I worked out for 50 minutes today, which is a lot.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I've got you beat. I am a full 30 minutes to the nearest regular grocery store and 40-ish to the nearest Walmart and Target! I feel your pain! (Especially back was gas was nearing $4/gallon!)

So I bought my turnip yesterday. I will peel it and get it cooked up with the carrots (and maybe some onion) later and serve it up all mashed together for dinner. I will make the kids have a taste (just like my mean parents did when I was a kid), but I don't have any false hope that they will actually like it. But I am hoping that I will.

Not sure what to serve with it. With DH working out of town 5 days a week since Jan. 1, I am out of the routine when it comes to making dinners. And I didn't defrost anything. I guess I'll go hunting in the freezer!

So I have taken care of my food challenge, but I'm not sure what to do for my exercise. I may drag the old "cardio-glide" out of the basement and give it a try. DH got it at a yard sale ages ago and it has sat taking up space since then (unless I ditched it at last fall's yard sale?? I can't remember!). My neighbor and I are hopefully going to go walking later. We have a couple of nice routes around here, about 1 hr each, that have plenty of hills, so it is a good workout (and we walk fairly fast). Perhaps I will try to do a full 15 minutes of Wii yoga first. I'll let you all know what I did.

ANYHOOO... I had joined a BL contest at school. I didn't realize it ended yesterday and I didn't weigh in first thing in the morning because I was running late (and because I knew I would be UP). The school nurse said I could weigh in on MOnday instead. So I REALLY have some motivation to stay STRICTLY on program this weekend! I won our last BL challenge last winter/spring by a long shot, but it was a longer challenge, I was HIGHLY motivated by an upcoming WDW trip, and I was just starting my weight loss journey (again), so the weight was coming off more quickly. This time I'm sure I will be in the bottom few. But at least I have lost a little!

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and healthy weekend!................P

So, I was down 1 lb today at WW. A bit disappointing but I ate a piece of pizza last night and the WW leader said that once again, I probably ae to much salt. I never thought pizza was really salty but everyone in the meeting said yes, it was.

Weekend challenge!
I am going to try yoga today (either on Demand or on the Wii.)
As for food . . . I bought some cereal with flax seed oil. This is an item I would have NEVER thought about buying before. DH almost fell down when he saw it in the cabinet! But we tried it this morning and it was actually pretty good!

Have a good weekend and I hope everyone is up to the challenge!

So the excercise challenge is good. Jillian just kicked my tail. I'm sure that if I do this work out for 30 days I'll be shreded for sure. I also did 20 minutes of yoga.

I found a recipe that sounds good. It's turkey and lentil chili, which are two ingredients we hardly ever use. It's a rainy day so I think we'll try that tonight.

How's the challenge going for everyone else?

Just chiming in about the challenges....

I tried the turnip last night for dinner. Let's just say it won't become part of my usual selection of veggies. Anyone have a recipe for a large quantity of mashed turnip/carrots?? The kids each ate the required 1 tsp., DH actually ate a little and had a little more. I did eat two servings (topped with "I can't believe it's not butter" spray and salt) and it was filling. Just not loving it.

If I go out today I may hit the grocery store and try one more new veggie.

I did my usual walking yesterday (although I walk more on the weekends anyhow) and then I topped it off with a full 16 minutes of Wii Yoga and I tried almost every new position that I had unlocked. I was really feeling it in my hips by the afternoon. Hopefully if I do it again today I will unlock some new ones again.

If I have time I may try new muffin recipe today. I tried something like it a few weeks ago, but I didn't bake it long enough. (That's what happen when you are a terrible cook and you try to make things up as you go along!)
I'll let you all know if they are any good!..........................P

I had sort of the same experience with my turkey and lentil chili. It was okay, and we'll eat it until it's gone, but I don't think I'll make it again. I will say that it was very filling though. Very hearty.

I did 30 day shred again today and 15 minutes of yoga on Wii FIt and while I'm super sore, I feel really good. i think if I do these for 30 days I should see good results. Jillian is tough! The yoga is certainly a stress reliever. I'm also getting more flexible, which will be good in the long run.

Didn't get to weigh in today. My mom's in the hospital with kidney stones and I lost track of time. Besides, it wouldn't be good. I ate half a stuffed crust pizza on Thursday so I'm sure I gained a bit from that. I'll write more when I get a chance. Work is really picking up now so I don't have as much time as I usually do. When new students and parents get financial aid award letters my phone lights up trying to explain everything.

Well.... I didn't do stellar in regards to the challenge yesterday. I didn't get a chance to exercise before the day got away from me, so I added a few extra minutes to my Wii Fit program this morning to make up for it. And I was going to try to "doctor up" the remaining turnip and re-try it on my family, but they were not happy, so it is still sitting in the fridge. But I did well on Saturday. Oh well.

Anyone have any ideas for next weekend??

I had a "sneak peek" weigh-in today because I had to weigh in for my BL contest at school. I loved what I saw and hopefully it will be an even lower number come my official weigh -in on Friday!........................P

I've done really well the last two days with food and exercise. i've worked out for about 45 minutes both days and I've kept my calories down. My only problem is getting obsessed with the scale. I know I should only weigh-in once a week but when I see the scale in the morning, I don't know, I'm just compelled to step on it. If I see the slightest change I get really discouraged. Today I was up a pound. I think I know why, our supper last night was a little too salty plus it had a lot of beans so I was pretty bloated, but it's still hard to see that higher number.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it? I was thinking of just hiding the scale under my bed until weigh in day. What do you all think?

Not a bad idea.

I try to be a "strictly Fridays" weigh-er, but somedays it is hard. But as I said somewhere here on the WISH boards, it is truly a double-edged sword to weigh myself daily. If I am DOWN, I feel great, but I sometimes get that feeling that I can cheat or skip a workout and still be okay. If I am UP, then I can get very discouraged and want to throw in the towel, which can lead to overeating and/or skipping workouts!

So either way, I shouldn't weigh myself during the week. Some people on weigh once a month! I can't imagine doing that. But I do try to stick to just once a week.

I think that "hiding" the scale, or at least putting it away so it is not sitting right there, is probably a great idea. Maybe I'll go put mine away right now!.....................P

Hi Everyone,

It has been a few weeks since I posted. Life has been crazy. We planned a last minute mini-spring break vacation, and that threw everything off for me.

I worked out really hard the week before our vacation and was able to drop a total of 3 pounds. :thumbsup2 Then we started our road trip: Drive in the car, McDonalds, drive in the car, Subway (a little better), drive in the car, snack foods. I think you get the picture.

Anyway, our trip was nice, I did swim in the pool one day, but when I had gotten home, I had put on 4 pounds. :headache:

So my WI day was today, and I have lost 1 pound, which gets me right back to where I was when I started this challenge with you all.

Soooo....I am getting right back on the horse. I have ridden my exercise bike (30 minutes) the last two days. And have started back to eating right today.

Just send me some happy thoughts, that I can keep it up this week while the kids are still home on Spring Break. Hope everyone else is having a good week.

Joy, I hope you had a great road trip. I love road trips! I am hoping to plan a short trip during my kids' April vacation.... just not sure where yet. DS isn't the best rider (over 4 hours he starts to complain and gets car sick easily), so my original idea of Niagara Falls (8+ hrs) is probably not going to happen. Montreal would be even COLDER than NH, so no appeal there. We've done NYC and Washington, DC. Atlantic city is over 7 hours. Other than Boston (which is an easy 90-ish minutes), nothing is really sounding too great.

ANYHOOO.... I came over to see how everyone is doing on "hump" day. Plus it is April Fool's Day... any pranksters out there? DD played a great trick on her friends last year... she told them she was moving away. She is such a great actress she even worked up a tear or two. She finally had to tell them it was an April Fool's Day prank when THEY started crying!

This year wasn't quite as good. She was bringing in an extra credit poster she has been working on. She made her friends believe it was a regular homework assignment and that they missed it! (They are all straight-A students, so this was really a big deal to them!)

Well, I'm way off track now. Just wondering how everyone is. I am eating well and moving well this week. Not sure what has happened lately to boost my motivation, but I am definitely feeling more motivation than I have in many, many months!

I've got an easy idea for a weekend (Friday-Sunday) challenge if anyone is interested... or if you have an idea, share it! Anyhow, let me know if there is any interest in another challenge.................P

pjlla I'd love a challenge! They seem to keep me motivated and change things up a little.

I actually had a good wednesday. My daughter and I went to the zoo with another girl and her kids, so I got some good walking in, up hills and pushing a stroller. I won't consider it a work out but since it's my rest day I thought it was good. After the zoo we went to Chili's to eat. I was happy to find something I really loved on their guiltless menu. It was a grilled chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce on a whole grain bun with steamed brocoli with a little parmasean on it. It was great and I was craving buffalo sauce so it worked out well. Everything on their guiltless menu has less than 750 calories which I thought was pretty good for a meal out. I worked it into my calories and since lunch was late I didn't need a big dinner.

Anyway, hope everyone else had a good wednesday too!

Check-in day for me. I'm only half a pound down today. But it's still in the right direction.

I'm going to the grocery today and I'm going to try to get at least one fruit or vegatable I've never had before or think I don't like. I'm also going to work out with 30 shred and either walk or do yoga, depends on if it rains.

Hopefully next week will have an even bigger number.

Have you decided on a place yet? Our road trip was 12 hours to Phoenix. Just be sure to take lots of healthy snacks. I had healthy ones in the car, but also not healthy. I made poor choices.

My DD13 played an April Fool's on her GF. She texted her that she couldn't come to the Bible Study that night because she broke her leg. Her friend totally believed her and was so sad and sorry. Then my DD texted her back, "April Fools". Her friend was so mad. I thought it was hillarious. :rotfl:

Okay.... I am down 2.8 lbs this week and I couldn't be happier about it! Its about time!

WEEKEND CHALLENGE: Your weekend challenge (Fri-Sun) if you choose to accept it is...

GET YOUR CALCIUM! Challenge yourself to get in three servings of dairy, each day. Cottage cheese, hard cheese, lowfat milk, lowfat yogurt, pudding.... whatever you can find with lowfat calcium. Three servings per day for three days. (Supplements don't count for this challenge, but they are still a very good thing!)

I have a very hard time with this, even though I love milk. I just don't want to "spend" the calories on it. So I have to get it in the form of cheese or pudding.

Anyhow, hope everyone else is having a good morning. I"ll be back later when I have more time......................P

WOW... a personal trainer in the family? I can't decide if that is a good thing or not. Good because she can help you.... bad because every time you eat in front of her, you could potentially feel self-concious. But let her help you. I'm sure she would love to help and it certainly can't hurt!

As far as the "tired all the time" feeling...I'm thinking it could be a few things. First, I can't remember what you said about your weight, but being significantly overweight can certainly make you feel tired. It takes a lot of energy to carry around all of those extra pounds.

Second thought... it could be some sort of underlying chronic fatigue syndrome.

Third thought is that it could be a thyroid disease. Before my Mom was diagnosed with her thyroid disease (when I was in my teens) she was tough to live with because she seemed so "lazy". She couldn't seem to stay moving long enough to get anything done. I remember going shopping for a church confirmation dress. I had to find something in the first store because she was too tired to take me any place else. And I wore some ugly old sandals I already had because she didn't have the energy to take me shoe shopping. (And, of course, I remember being a rather bratty, unappreciative child about this situation too.) But she got diagnosed and better (with medication).

Perhaps a physical exam is in order??? Especially if this tiredness has been ongoing for many weeks. If it is a short-term thing, maybe you are fighting the flu??

Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome -- we're happy to have you here!

Staying on plan for the weekends is a HUGE challenge. I think one reason I had such a great showing on the scale this week is because I had a really "in control" weekend last weekend! If today is your weigh-in day, then have a little splurge today and get RIGHT BACK ON TRACK first thing tomorrow morning!

Epcotguy82...

Well, I think we started out having a designated posting day per person, but (speaking for myself) I post whenever the mood strikes me! I think that I initially signed up for Fridays, so I definitely try to post on Fridays, but I don't hesitate to post other days as well.

Perhaps you are TOO hungry when you get home at midnight and that is why you are eating junk. I know that there is some connection between my empty belly and my brain telling me it is okay to eat fistfuls of potato chips. So I try to not let my belly get too hungry.

If you can't eat more while at work (during a break??), then force yourself to eat something really healthy (fruit, lowfat cheese, sushi, salad) and then wait 15-20 minutes before eating anything else. Maybe bring an "end of shift" snack to eat before you leave work. Let it settle while you drive home and then see what you want to eat when you get home. Maybe it will take the "edge" off your hunger enough to allow you to make better choices when you arrive home.

Another thought..... be SURE that you have healthy, yummy things available. That way, when you are in that "I MUST EAT NOW" mode, the things that you are grabbing aren't junk. EXAMPLE.... today I had an unexpected trip to the Mall while waiting for my car repair. I did some shopping and was going to grab a quick lunch in the food court on the run. I couldn't find anything healthy enough, so I skipped it for the moment. By the time I got my car and was driving home, I was STARVING! If it wasn't for the fact that I had some YUMMY sushi waiting for me, I would have been VERY tempted to make a fast food stop. But it was easier to go hungry for a bit longer, knowing I had something delicious AND healthy waiting at home. Of course, by the time I had my sushi at 2:45, I WOLFED it down because I was so hungry..... but that is a story for another day!

Anyhow, hope something here is helpful............................P

After work tonight, I have to take DD13 over to the church for the Friday night fish fry (don't worry, they have baked fish too) -- my poor hubbie has been working these stinkin' fish fries with the Knights of Columbus every single time, so we need to back him up. He's a good soul. I think I mentioned that he gave up junk food and alcohol for lent, so he's lost a good deal of weight during this time -- much more than I have.

Don't forget, dark leafy greens are also a decent source of calcium!...........P

Today I weighed in. I got on the scale and it was different several times. Not sure why. But when it shows me the same weight twice in a row I use that. Using that method, I lost 2 pounds. Someone at work asked if I'd lost weight. I guess I did but didn't realize it.

BTW, I've been getting my calcium. Fat Free Yogurt and a little cheese everyday. I used to drink milk like it was going out of style when I was younger but I can't do that anymore.

Fly-by post, because I've got to get back to work.

But I just wanted to say Hi and report that I did keep to my plan over the weekend and not surprisingly, if my weigh-in day had been today instead of last Friday, I would have shown a much better result. I'll keep working on it for the rest of this week, and hopefully my good numbers will still be there when I report this Friday!

My point (as convoluted as that was) being that as much as we KNOW what we need to do, it still seems amazing when it actually works, doesn't it?

Hope you all have a great week! :hippie:

How is everyone doing? Who kept up with the weekend challenge to get three servings of calcium per day?? Okay... I will admit, I really struggled with this. The best I did was two servings per day! Althought admittedly, we don't have my favorite cereal in the house right now, so I didn't eat much cereal.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to jump on yesterday to ask. My laptop is currently out of commission and the monitor for the kids computer was acting funny on Sunday. But it seems okay today.

dizcrazy... why are you DISCOURAGED about a 1 lb. weight loss?? THat is PERFECT! Go slap four sticks of butter to your body and lug them around all day. You will see that 1 lb. is a GREAT weight loss. I imagine you are just discouraged because you were hoping for a bigger number. But maybe it will show up next week. Don't let this get you down. Keep working at it! ................P

I missed my BL wi last week, and i'm dreading tomorrow. it's not going to be pretty, and looking back i'd say 75% of what I ate was not really that worth it! we were out to dinner, or continental breakfast, too much mindless eating. i gotta learn to cope better away from home, i'm about and such alot during the summer.

Acename.... I think that is a PERFECT challenge. That will be it for this weekend!

The challenge for this holiday weekend is.....

don't eat your weight in Easter candy or other Easter or Passover treats!!

All kidding aside... the real challenge is to make GOOD choices... better choices than you have made at holidays in the past.

Some thoughts on how to do this....

look at EVERYTHING available first. Decide what you want and make good choices, but don't avoid all of the fun holiday foods. Fill your plate once and leave it at that. If it is a buffet, don't GRAZE. It is too easy to lose track of what you have already eaten.

If possible, start with a nice green salad or light soup to take the edge of any real hunger. Have a healthy breakfast at home so you don't arrive at the holiday meal too hungry.

If you are eating at someone else's house, offer to bring a green salad and/or plain hot vegetable dish and/or light dessert. That way you KNOW you will have something you can eat without guilt.

If the meal is at your house, try to send the leftovers (especially leftover desserts) home with your guests.

Watch the liquid calories (wine, etc). Nuf said.

If you MUST indulge in some Easter candy, try to go for the lower fat/lower calorie goodies... Peeps, malted milk eggs, Starburst, Smarties, jelly beans are all lower fat than chocolates. But don't forget, they still have plenty of sugar and CALORIES.

Try to fit in a workout on Easter morning, before church and the festivities begins. You may be less likely to "blow" your workout by pigging out on candy and goodies. Even if you still indulge, at least your metabolism will be working harder at burning the calories.

If your holiday meal includes ham, don't forget to get in lots of water, to flush out the salt from the ham.

That said, extra water in general isn't a bad idea for this weekend.

I hope that this challenge will help some of us have a health(ier) holiday than we have had in the past! ..........................P

Checking in....

My scale says down 0.4 lbs today -- sorta baffling, really. :confused3 My peek on Monday showed a better number and I did not sabotage myself at all this week. Good food choices and lots of exercise. Well, in any case, it is what it is.

Overall results equals a total weightloss from February of 7.0 lbs. On the up side, my jeans are fitting well, I feel great, and if I continue along, even at my snail pace, I will get there eventually.

Have a great weekend, guys! :hippie:

She got my daughter very little chocolate for easter which is my weakness. she got her all kinds of stuff I hate (like Peeps :crazy2:) and some other fruity stuff which she didn't even get a lot of. I'm so glad most peole got her little gifts instead of candy. So anyway she made my challenge much easier.

Well.... I did a nice long post this morning and it doesn't appear to be here! I guess the computer hiccuped when I hit "submit". I'll repeat myself briefly.

I was just wondering how everyone's holiday weekend went. Did you all stay in control? I hope you allowed yourself at least a little treat or splurge so you don't feel deprived.

I did really well with my eating. I did plan what I was going to eat ahead of time, and I stuck to my plan. My splurge on Saturday (when we celebrated with my side of the family here at my house) was our family's onion casserole and my aunt's lemon meringue pie. They are both rare treats (Easter and T.giving only), and I love them both, so I splurged on those. I avoided the green bean casserole, the sticky buns, the mashed potatoes, the apple pie, ice cream, cupcakes, and most the candy.

On Sunday, at my DSIL's, it was a bit harder to be good because I wasn't sure exactly what there would be. I again avoided MOST of the potatoes (I had about 2 Tb. of delmonico potatoes), the bread/rolls, green bean casserole, harvard beets, candy, appetizers, and wine. I know that the carrots I ate did have some butter and honey/syrup on them, but according to the cook, not much. I did have a small piece of cheese pie for dessert, as well as a piece of the angel food cake I brought, but that was it for splurge.

I skipped my evening meal both days because we ate mid-afternoon and my meals were large enough to count for both meals. And I got in a 60 minute workout BOTH days, although the Saturday workout was tough. I didn't start until 7:30 pm, after my company had left, and I was TIRED. But I certainly don't regret the workout.

If you fell totally off the wagon this weekend, don't feel bad. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get right back on!! Get right back to your healthy eating and exercising TODAY. Don't wait until tomorrow, or the next day, or whenever, because that day may NEVER come! Get back on track TODAY! Keep your food journal, count your calories/points, drink your water.... whatever you do on your personal "weight loss journey" that keeps you going and losing. Hide the candy, toss out the leftovers or put them in the freezer. Add 15 minutes to today's workout to make up for overindulging yesterday, and then MOVE ON!

I hope all of my Summer Club friends had a great holiday weekend..............P

Summer is creeping up quickly and I know many of us were hoping to reach our goal weight by the time summer arrives. We can do it if we continue to reach out here and encourage each other!

I'll ramble on a bit here to keep our thread busy......

DD left for her class trip to Washington this morning. I feel so bad, she forgot her ipod. She was downloading a few last songs late last night and she never went back and grabbed it. oh well.... I guess it will be a long 8 hour ride without any music. Maybe a friend will share.

Anyone have any April vacation plans this week or next week? We are on vacation next week. I think that we will do some day trips. Last year we went to WDW during April vacation. I can't BELIEVE it has been a whole year. It was a fabulous trip, but more crowded than we like. But as the kids get older it gets harder and harder to take them out of school like we did when they were little. Not sure when we will go again, as DD starts high school next year.

Well, time to get some things done around the house..................P

pjilla -- sounds like you did awesome over the weekend!! and thanks for the encouragment, just what i need to read today!

Overall results equals a total weightloss from February of 7.0 lbs. On the up side, my jeans are fitting well, I feel great, and if I continue along, even at my snail pace, I will get there eventually.

:yay::yay: 7.0 lbs! fantastic! and  your attitude!

I jumped back on the exercise wagon yesterday at spinning class; hopping on the TM later this morning. beyond that going to focus this week on keeping myself busy and out of the kitchen in between lunch and dinner ::yes::

Sorry I'm late posting. It's been busy here. Tonight I go see my sister-in-law to do an assessment so she can design a personal training and diet program for me. Since she's family it should be easier for me to stick to. Plus, she has her own training studio so it won't cost me anything. However, she does work with a gym and the owner is my old physical therapist so I may join that gym on my own. At least there I know I'd be in good hands.

I won't be able to write this weekend. Going to Orlando for a convention and to go to EPCOT and Universal. We're staying off property on Universal Blvd so we're in between everything we want to do. We'll have a microwave and fridge so we're bringing some of our own food to cut down on costs and watch what we eat.

Well my company is gone and our family is finally back in routine. I worked out for about an hour and half yesterday so I'm back on track.

I tried to move up to level 2 on jm 30 day shred today. Turns out I'm most definately not ready for it! That woman is nuts! Anyway, my back is a little sore after doing it so i'm going back to level 1 tomorrow. My hope is to be at level 3 by our vaction in June.

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well. I'll check back in on Thursday!

How long have you been doing level one? I have been doing it about once a day for about 12 days now and I don't think I'm ready for level 2. I still can't do real push-ups and I only do about 10 girlie ones on the first pass and 3 on the second pass! Plus when we do those "arm raises/side lunges" my arms are DYING (I use 3 lb. weights). Until I can do better with those two things, I don't think I am ready for level 2!............P

I've been doing level 1 for about 2 1/2 weeks and those are the two things I struggle with too. I can do the push-ups really well on my knees now, so I think I'll be moving up to trying them on my toes. The arm raises and side lunges kill me. I only have 5 pound weights so I can only do one of the sets with the weights without dying! I keep some soup cans handy for the second set.

I tried level 2 because I was getting bored and a lot of the exercises were getting boring. I didn't think that level 2 would be that much harder! So I think I'm going to wait until I'm at 4 weeks and try level 2 again. I can't imagine what level 3 will be like!

I've been doing level 2 for a few weeks now (usually about twice a week), using 5 lb weights. I didn't move up from level 1 until I could do all of the squats with overhead presses without stopping -- just kept cursing Jillian while I did 'em.

I have had to modify some of the level 2 cardio, because it's just too high impact for me. Some of her exercises hurt my knees. But overall, it's great to be sweating like a pig after only 20 minutes, and then be done!!!

It was a rough weekend for eating -- and I had a sick cat and sick kid to deal with over the past few days as well --- so no excuse really, but I'm working at getting back on track today. I have aerobics tonight, so at least I'm guaranteed a good workout. Maybe I'll try Jillian again tomorrow.

Have a great week, everybody!!! :hippie:

I weighed in today expecting bad news but I was pleasently suprised: 1.5 pounds down! After Easter and all the visitors I had I thought I would have gained or at least stayed the same. So I'm very excited about that.

I've had to take a break from Jillian the last couple of days. I'm really really sore between my shoulders from trying to do level 2. I have done cardio though and I plan to today.

I have a wedding shower this weekend which probably won't be easy as far as food goes. It's right after lunch so I can't decide if I'll eat lunch before I go and resist the other stuff as much as I can or not. Maybe I'll eat a salad or apple before I go that way I can still indulge a little but will be a little bit full.

Anyway, everyone is doing great! Keep it up!

Just jumping on to say Hi! Hope everyone is doing well this week. I have had some tough days (who knew that a small McD shake has 12 points :scared1::scared1:) but I have eaten within my points every day (although I did use Flex points, which I don't usually) and exercised faithfully, so the scales should be kind.

See you all tomorrow................P

It's a beautiful day here - 70's!!!

Weigh-in this morning was not so beautiful -- I was up 0.2 lbs. I am very thankful it wasn't more, since it's TOM plus I have not been eating well this week. Good thing I was exercising or the damage would've been much worse.

So.....onward and upward! Well, okay, hopefully downward. :rotfl:

Hi all, today is not my day to post, but I haven't posted yet this week. Today was a good day, I have relost two pounds.

I have found some extra motivation. My DD13 has finally decided that she would like to lose some weight. She is probably about 20 pounds overweight. Her problem is the same as mine. We both love food. I have been trying to encourage her to lose some weight, but knew that unless it was her decision, I couldn't make her do it. So I am now trying to cook even healthier and trying to keep all the junk food out of the house.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to keep my DD motivated, I would love to hear them. She does get discouraged, when I tell her she shouldn't eat something.

Hope you all have a great weekend. :)

Weather was perfect here (in West Chester, PA) so I'm getting motivated again. Went for a long walk and plan on a bike ride tomorrow.

Just wanted to check in. How's everyone doing? I'm doing my best to stay off the scale until Thursday. I've been doing pretty well with food lately. I've found that I have to allow myself a treat most days or I fall off the wagon. For example, today I had one of those Lindt chocolates, you know the ones with the creamy center. they're about 75 calories and after I have one I'm good for the day and don't really feel the need to have a treat.

Working out is going well too. I think if all goes well this week I"ll be moving on to level 2 on 30 days shred. I still can't do push-ups on my toes but pretty much the whole rest of level 1 isn't challenging me anymore. Hopefully the change in workout will help boost my weight loss too. Anyway, see y'all soon!

Hey! Where are you guys?!

Anyway, I stepped on the scale this morning and got good news, I'm down another pound. Now I'm at 146. I've got 11 pounds until I get to my goal for this challenge and slightly under 2 months. I honestly don't know if I'll make it but hopefully I'll be close and at least feel better about my body. Everyone is starting to notice and that feels good. Unfortunately a lot of my clothes are getting too big. I'm going to wait to replace though. I don't want to invest too much until I lose some more.

I ordered some new dvds the other day. I got Jillian's two newest videos. One's a cardio one and one is kind of like 30 shred but longer. I'm thinking I might put the longer one in one day a week or something.

I've stopped counting calories. I just can't do it without geting obsessive. I found that I was eating more on the days I counted because all I thought about was food. Now I just focus more on eating until I'm comfortably full and eating what I want in moderation. I've found this works better for me mentally and seems like I'll be more likely to keep it up once I stop trying to lose. Just trying to make some better choices everyday and not worry about being perfect is much more managable for me. Even though it might take me longer, it will be easier to keep up in the long run. I think that's why Weight Watchers didn't work for me. I get too obsessive when I"m counting.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. Only two months to go!

that is fantastic you have a buddy at home now! i have been trying to get my DH to get on board with me as far as eating goes, healthier eating. i'm such a yo-yo I know i'd be more consistent with him. anyhow -- my only suggestion, and i'm sure you just worded it this way? -- try not to "tell her she shouldn't eat something" we are all human and struggle with this. i recognize there is a line between teaching her healthy eating habits, reminding her when she needs it, and 're-telling' what she already knows. I am guilty most everyday of eating something i "shouldn't". but i gotta make this real for me, maybe at 13 it's too overwhelming to think there is no wiggle-room? i'm not encouraging cheating either..... see this mind-dance I play....no wonder I yo-yo!

Thanks ohmom! Hope your weigh in today was better than you expected!

The scale was kind to me today -- I have no idea why since I did a lot of extra snacking and indulged in some wine, and.....well, you get the idea. But for whatever reason, the weightloss gods smiled on me and gave me a 1.4 loss today. I will absolutely take it. ;) Hopefully this means I have pushed my way through the plateau I have resting on for many many weeks. Have a great Friday, everybody!

(Duplicate to my post on the Purple Team thread)

Hi all! Sorry to be MIA for a few days. I DID take the laptop and the scale with me when we went away Thursday, but I ran out of time Friday morning and didn't get around to posting. The news is BAD...... I gained 3.8 lbs!!

I can't even tell you how frustrated and aggravated that gain is making me feel. ONE WEEK of "real life eating" and I gain almost 4 lbs??!! And I really made a real effort to watch my food and I exercised 6 out of 7 days. I journaled and counted EVERYTHING I ate. I had a small dessert one night and some M&Ms at the movies, but other than that I didn't have anything that I would consider a big "splurge". I KNEW I would probably not lose... and that I might even have a small gain... but I never imagined it would be almost 4 pounds. In fact, I think that I didn't even use my full 35 Flex points.

The last time I had a gain anywhere near that big was the two week holiday over Christmas/New Years.... and I made VERY LITTLE effort to watch my food during that time and I got NO exercise.

It just reminds me AGAIN, what a lifetime of weight maintenance is going to be like. And sometimes I feel like I CAN'T do it! But I try SO hard to remind myself how much happier and healthier I am than I was on January 1, 2008... and January 1, 2003... and I KNOW that I MUST keep going. This week just serves to remind me that I will probably NEVER be the kind of person who can "guestimate" my food or stop tracking my food. It is too easy to overeat and underestimate.

I was feeling very aggravated yesterday and I overate when we went out for dinner, but I KNOW that doing so is certainly not the solution to my problem.

So this morning I am BACK ON TRACK. Ready to re-dedicate myself to this "lifelong journey". I WILL track my food, I WILL exercise every day, I WILL measure/weigh my food portions, I WILL make the right choices to eat healthy. A full week of no BLTNs (bites, licks, tastes, nibbles)... good food choices, lots of whole foods, fruits, veggies, and much fewer bad carbs. One week at a time.... one day at a time..... one meal at a time.

Sorry to ramble on and on.... I just needed to vent my frustration to people who will understand. ...........................P

I hope I ont count as MIA - I was supposed to post yesterday but went to the beach and the wifi wasnt working. But the weather was WONDERFUL so it was a great to be outside. (We went to Bethany Beach, in case anyone here is from the tri-state area!)
I stayed the same . . . but had an ice cream sundae last night. And a donut for breakfast. I'm really kicking myself for falling off the wagon. Next week will be a sad weigh in.

Hi! Is it too late to join?

Just in case it's okay if I join I'll introduce myself:

I'm barbmouse and I'm a 45 yr old wife and Mom of 2 dks. I haven't always struggled with my weight. I did pretty well until the birth of dk #2. I went to WW when he turned 2( now he's 12:confused:) and got down to a good weight for me. :woohoo: Slowly over the years I just used my busyness as an excuse not to exercise or eat right and gained all of the weight back. Last summer I hit a high weight for me and decided to go back to WW with support from a friend. I had achieved lifetime by the fall. I am now a few lbs over my goal weight (several lbs over my low weight from last summer) and am planning to return to WW this week. I have had a good weekend and have made fairly good food choices and exercised more that usual. That's a start right?

Our family is going on our 2nd cruise this year and I am determined to be at my low weight from last summer at that time. I could use some support and would love to reach my goal by the middle of June just in time for cruising!!:cheer2:

My goal is 10 lbs by mid June. I will begin WW (again), drink more water and exercise. I would like to post on Sundays.

Good luck to everyone here this week! We can do it! We are worth it!

First of all... WELCOME to barbmouse! Glad to have you along. Lucky you with the upcoming cruise! I know that you can do it with the 10 pounds!

Morning to all of you! Sorry about my vent on Saturday, but I was just feeing really aggravated. But I had a great weekend eating well and exercising, so I am really feeling fully rededicated. Hopefully this feeling will continue all week! With this setback, I'm not sure that I will reach my summer goal, but I will be close and that is enough reason to keep trying. Hope you all have a beautiful spring day!...................P

Welcome barb!

Well I did level 2 of 30 day shred last night and it actually wasn't horrible. I mean I was totally exhausted when I finished but I made it through it! That's a huge improvement.

I took a peek at the scale and I liked what I saw. I won't post it yet because it's not my weigh-in day but hopefully Thursday will bring good results.

Pjilla, sorry you've had a bad week or so but I admire your resolve to get back on track. That's always been my problem, if I "mess up" i just fall off the wagon completely. I think that's really important.

Well, see y'all Thursday!

Sorry all, I have been MIA. I think I have been afraid to post because I haven't done anything as far as weight loss. I have been trying to lose 10 pounds since January, and I haven't lost anything. I think about it all the time, but I never seem to watch my eating. Every night I get frustrated at myself and think, "I will do better tomorrow", then tomorrow comes and nothing changes.

I read the posts on here and think it is amazing how hard you all work, and think, "why can't I do that".

Summer is coming and I probably can't fit into half my shorts. I really have to do this. I need to get motivated.

I will try to be more consistent in my posting, and even let you all know where I am with my WI. Hopefully by next Tuesday, I will actually have a negative number to report. :)

joy@disney... maybe posting here with be an incentive to keep yourself on track. I have found that most of losing weight is MENTAL, not physical. If you can get yourself in the right place mentally, you are halfway there! Maybe next month you could join one of the monthly challenges. I jumped into the April exercise challenge and it really helped spur me along, knowing that I needed to be accountable and that I had a goal to reach.

Hope everyone is well today! I'm going to try to "shake up" my weight loss and my metabolism and start eating a bit differently. I'll let you know if I think it is working!.........................P

I love my scale today. I'm down 2.5 pounds to 143.5. I think changing up my excercise really helped. I also got three new dvd's yesterday. I got two more Jillian dvd's No more trouble Zones and Blast Fat Boost Metabolism and a really fun dance video I did last night. Hopefully adding those in will help me too.

As far as food, I think not counting calories is best for me. I eat when I'm hungry. If I want a treat I have a small portion of it then work out a little bit more. This really seems to be working for me. counting just made me crazy and more hungry than ever.

I tried on my new swimsuit last night as well. I intentionally bought it a size smaller and I'm so glad I did. It's really starting to look good. By the time we go to the beach in June I think it'll fit really well.

Hope everyone else is having a good week!

I'd love to hear what dance video you got. It sounds like fun. Are you liking the JM videos? I am bored to TEARS with doing the 30 day shred (even though I am still on level 1) and would like to switch it out a few days a week with another video.

WAY TO GO on the swimsuit! I wouldn't DARE buy a smaller suit. I have done that so many times in the past and I ended up with a closet full of clothes that didn't fit. I bought a nice expensive swimsuit (Land's End) last spring, after I had lost about 35 pounds. It is, sadly and gladly, waaaaay too big now. And I REALLY don't want to spend another $80 on a suit this year. So I am not sure what I will wear this year. Maybe I will try to find an inexpensive one to get me through this year and wait until next year to splurge.... because by next summer I will have (hopefully) maintained my goal weight for a year and a nice swimsuit would be a good way to celebrate!.............P

The dance video is call Dance Off the Inches Hip Hop Party. It's super fun. I just got it yesterday and I've already done it twice. I like it because it has a step guide that goes through all the hardest steps really slowly so you can practice a little bit before you start the actual workout.

I haven't tried the Jillian videos yet. I know that No More Trouble zones is like a longer 30 day shred. I plan on trying it tomorrow instead of 30 day shred. I do shred monday wednesday and friday usually. I think that Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is a more cardio workout. I may try that later today to try to get up to my 1000 minutes for the April excercise challenge. I'm so close and I really want to get there. BTW pjilla way to go on the excercise challenge! You're kicking butt!

OH yeah and the swim suit. It was a really good deal, the whole thing was $37 and it had a built in bra with underwire and everything, which is really good for me. I'm pretty big chested and after having a baby I need all the chest support I can get. I love it and I'm determined for it to fit really well before we go on vacation.

eta: I got all these videos on amazon for 8.99 each...pretty good price I thought

I'll chat by myself.

Well... I broke down and bought a pair of "in-10-pounds" jeans. You know... those jeans that sort of fit, but will definitely look great in 10 pounds. I don't usually do that because I have burned myself too many times in the past, but this time I'm gonna do it! These are a great looking pair of Levi 550 relaxed boot cut. They were at the Goodwill. I got them on and buttoned, but there was more muffin top than a Dunkin Donuts on Saturday morning! :rotfl: But I LOVE Levis and I think that these will look great in 10-12 pounds, which I exactly how much I have to lose to reach my goal! How could I pass them up for $4.99!?

Recommitting now -- I did very well with food yesterday and hope to continue for the rest of the week.

Keep on keeping on, guys.

I feel your pain! Good for you for recommitting yourself. Back on track, back on the wagon, back on program, whatever you want to call it... it is tough to get back... especially when it seems like the scale (and sometimes the world) is conspiring against you. ONE DAY AT A TIME! Try changing up some of your "routine" foods... or adding more veggies... or more high fiber foods.... something to maybe make your body think that things are changing and maybe you will shake up your metabolism.

I had another of my "gardenburgers" for dinner tonight. This time I toasted the roll, spread it with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge, added some lettuce. It was really delicious with the cheese! I'm certainly getting my money's worth from that 4 oz. hamburg pattie.... so far two 1/2 full meals! ................P

ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Yep! I have spent this week quietly working my plan, so no matter what the scale may say on Friday, I am still proud of myself. :rotfl:

I was reading over on the Peeps thread (I don't post there, but I check in sometimes), and somebody mentioned that we are often our own worst critics. Nobody is going to look at us and say "boy, it's obvious that person has only lost 5 lbs instead of the 6 they planned!" The only people who notice that kind of stuff is us.

So, I've been concentrating this week on how much better I feel when I've been eating well and exercising. Want to make sure I remember this feeling, so I have incentive to continue.

Hope you all are having a great Wednesday!

I totally agree with everything you said! We are DEFINITELY our own worst critics.

GOod for you for noticing how much better you FEEL when you eat right. I noticed it most especially this past Thanksgiving. I had been on WW pretty steadily for 11 months. But I totally blew it (portion-wise) on T.giving day and the next day (we celebrate on Th. with in-laws and Fr. with my family). By Saturday I was BLOATED and just generally feeling HUGE. It took a FULL week before my body even felt marginally "normal" again, never mind losing the weight I gained! I try HARD to remember that every time I am confronted with a situation like that. It is SO NOT WORTH overeating to have to contend with that feeling for a WEEK! I did MUCH better this past Easter.

Let's be our own best CHEERLEADERS this week (and in the future) and cheer ourselves to lower numbers on the scale! :cheer2::cheer2:..................P

 hello long-lost twin sister ;) i am exactly where you are right now...

I tried on my new swimsuit last night as well. I intentionally bought it a size smaller and I'm so glad I did. It's really starting to look good. By the time we go to the beach in June I think it'll fit really well.

that is awesome! you have some great mojo going......keep up the fantastic work!

I am down 3.6 lb today, which eliminates most of what I gained last week, so I am reasonably happy. I'm gonna kick some butt this week on my eating and exercise and try to be down a full two pounds next week... that will take me into a new number area I haven't been in since the early 1990's! Yup, you heard it here.. TWO POUNDS for next week!
Well... I broke down and bought a pair of "in-10-pounds" jeans. You know... those jeans that sort of fit, but will definitely look great in 10 pounds. How could I pass them up for $4.99!?

that is fantastic that you burnt off those few pesky pounds right away! i ride the same emotional roller-coaster as you. and here i sit thinking, don't be so hard on yourself....but i do the same.
 i love a bargain at Goodwill! and levi's to boot!

i am sooo glad i popped in and joined back in the party: seems like every post i read to catch up, was one that i really related too! from the sabotage and procrastination, all the way to my own muffin top in my Levi's. which btw are my favorite pair of jeans i've had for 5 years and I just noticed a worn-down spot near a seam in a not-so-conspicuous place. darn! here is where I committed to losing the weight that I need to lose so my shorts I bought last year fit again, so my clothes fit comfortably again and i stop putting so much stress on my jeans that the seams give

so here's where i am -- i did a 1/2 marathon on Sunday -- event was great, blah blah blah....shins issues, hip troubles, so i've been taking the week off so far in exercising. I have committed with a co-worker to do Jillian's Making the Cut starting next Tues.....so like any addict i'm eating this and that knowing for 30 days i'm choosing to follow a restrictive plan as a last-effort to lose some weight before summer! ugh!

thanks for letting me vent this time!

tomorrow is my check-in day, so this can serve that purpose, but i'm going to be checking here more. i don't want this to fizzle out, you girls are to similar in plans, goals, and progress! I NEED YOU!!

Good job on the 1/2 marathon! There's no way I could do that. I HATE HATE HATE running. Also I'd love to hear how making the cut goes. I've browsed through the book at the store but it just seems really hard for me at this point. Good luck! I'm sure it will pay off.

sorry I haven't been around. I agree with the hiding in shame. I did not do well last weekend. We pretty much celebrated my dh's birthday saturday-monday. I got back on track monday night, but I just knew that the scale was going to be up. Well, I weighed in this morning and was actually down .5 pound. Not much but it was in the right direction. Considering the weekend and the fact that my time of the month is approaching. After this week I'm motivated again. If the scale will still move when I don't think I'm doing well, then think what it will do when I'm really trying hard. Hopefully this week is better and the scale will move big.

Hope you all have a great week and I promise to check in more.

Good Friday morning to all my Summer Club friends! Summer is creeping closer and closer. Who is going to be ready for it??

I am pleased to report that I am down 2 pounds this week! I set myself a goal, I worked toward it, and I achieved it. Too bad it isn't as easy as it sounds! But I did work hard this week, watching the food and increasing the exercise. This will be my THINNEST Mother's Day since I first became a Mom almost 14 years ago. Reason enough to celebrate.

I hope you all are doing great and have a terrific weekend if I don't get a chance to come back on later.....................P

I am happy to report my continued slow and steady progress -- scale said I was down 0.6 lbs this week. I'll take it. As I get closer to goal, it gets harder to progress, but I'm still keeping at it.

Hope the sun is shining on you today.

Good Saturday morning all! Not such great weather here today. I did a pretty good workout already this morning, but that was to work off the BLUEBERRY PIE I ate last night!! DD's Rainbow Girls had a bake sale and the pie was left at the end. I felt bad for the woman who made it because it was a beautiful pie and I'm sure it took a lot of work. So I bought it. Plus I really like blueberry pie! I had one piece last night and that is IT! If my family doesn't eat it today, I will take it to MIL's tomorrow for the family to polish off. We also have lot of leftover cookies (oatmeal choc. chip) that DD and DH made that didn't sell AND DS won a cake at the cake walk... so LOTS of goodies in the house today. It will be hard to resist, but I WILL DO IT!

I will try to get in maybe another 30 minutes of exercise later.... just in case we head to the movies today and I need to work off movie theater popcorn! And not sure what we will be eating at DMIL's tomorrow. Looks like this weekend is a land mine of food! I will have to step carefully! ................P

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a skinny weekend and a great mother's day.

Today is not my day to post, but I had to share my good news with everyone. I weighed in today and I have lost 3 pounds. I have been eating good all week and there was no loss all week long. I think my body was just holding on, trying to figure out what was going on. And whamo...today it finally let it go.

Just had to post, I am very excited, and also motivated now. I am off to do some Wii Fit.

today is first official day of making the cut. i'm metting my friend to workout in about an hour, my back is already achy from working out yesterday! not making the cut, but trying Jillian's Wii game that I got for mother's day. I do agree that it is restrictive, I don't think i'd stick to it alone...but when someone is staying on the course alongside me that will draw out my competitive side. well, not really competitive but maybe pride that i don't want to be the one that gave up.

Nope... due to circumstances beyond my control (long story) most all of the goodies ended up coming home with me mostly intact. I did indulge in another piece of blueberry pie on Sunday night (long stressful day... part of the long story) and it was very good. I think that the rest will probably hit the trash today. DS and DH had a few pieces of the cake on Sunday night, but the rest of that is heading toward the trash by tomorrow morning.

Good luck (again) with the "Making the Cut" program. I am inspired by your attempt.............P

Yes I'm still around. I just had a busy weekend with Mother's day and what not so haven't had much time to post.

My eating has been alright this week but the exercise isn't going well. I haven't felt all that great so it's hard to get motivated. I did 30 day shred last night though and felt better after doing it. Hopefully that will motivate me today.

Summer is approaching quickly! Is everybody ready? I'm definitely NOT ready! My yard is a mess... I've done very little raking, no weeding, no edging, no mulching, etc. I have almost NO shorts to wear, as they were all too big (a good thing, I know, but I hate clothes shopping), I've got several busy weekends coming up and I just don't feel organized and ready for them. And I have been in a very MUNCHY mood this week! I can't seem to stop nibbling! I'm trying to count it all, but that is difficult. Maybe it is just PMS?? DD wants to have a big 8th grade graduation party in late June with her entire pod (about 40 kids)... I don't know how the house and yard will be ready for it. Plus she needs shoes and a wrap for her semi-formal in a few weeks, plus she needs her white gown for Rainbow Girls... plus she wants to go away to the Maine Rainbow Girls Grand Assembly in a few weeks, so I need to organize her and help her pack for that!! I've been taking every work day that they have been offering lately, because I want to save the $$ and I don't work all summer.

I hate it when I get that "out of control" feeling in my life, whether it is in regards to my housework, yard work, eating, or whatever. That is about the ONLY thing that really stresses me... otherwise I am a pretty stress-free person. Maybe that is what is causing the munchy feeling??

On another note.... I bought two new workout videos. The first one was a big disappointment. I wish I had a chance to see it before I bought it. It is the Dancing With The Stars Latin Cardio Dance... it seems very unrehearsed. Plus I was feeling very aggravated with my lack of coordination and the steps weren't explained very well. But I kept it up for 20 minutes. Maybe it will seem better next time??

I also bought the BL Cardiomax. That was a good workout and it was nice to hear another voice other than Jillian's (I've been doing the 30 day shred). Plus I have been having a lot of knee pain (I think associated with doing the 30 day shred), so I was looking for a few different workouts that might give my knees a break.

Has anyone else tried these DVD's? I'm going to look around at yard sales this summer to see if I can find any more. It will be much less boring if I can switch it up more often.....................P

I'm still here. Been busy and haven't had time to write. I took a step in the right direction. I started working out with my SIL who's a personal trainer and last night I starter her program that incorporates healthy eating with exercise. She's going to help me with meal plans that fit what I like to eat and will fit my budget. My parents are doing the program too so it ought to be fun. DH was supposed to go with me and start as well but he always finds an excuse to stay home. I guess I'm on my own when I'm at home. Here's to hoping things go well.

I'm not quite ready for summer yet either. We're having a yard sale this Saturday so hopefully getting some junk out of the house will help me feel a little bit better about it.

I'm having some knee pain too. It started once I started level 2 of 30 day shred. I'm thinking I'm going to have to take a break from it. I think it's the squat thrusts, they KILL me! Honestly, the knee pain is really hurting my motivation. I just don't feel like working out. Hopefully changing it up a little bit and not doing 30 day shred as often will help. We'll see.

That's a good idea to look for new DVDs at yard sales. I hadn't even thought about it.

I have a feeling that the scale isn't going to be nice tomorrow. With my lack of motivation and nearing my TOTM, I'm thinking I'll be lucky to even stay the same this week. We shall see. See y'all tomorrow.

Weigh-in day. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm down half a pound. I've just not been motivated and haven't felt good so I haven't been working out so I'll certainly take it. I think the main thing is my diet is doing pretty well. I think before I was not eating enough. I was hungry all the time.

Anyway, I don't know how this week will go. My husband's grandmother is in the hospital and not in great shape. We aren't sure what's going to happen. Since most of his family lives out of town I may have visitors so I'm not sure how working out is going to go. Hopefully if I keep my diet in check I'll still have some loss next week.

Have a good day everyone.

snowwitch -- that is fantastic to have a personal trainer at your disposal! take advantage!!

for those yard saling for DVDs, I'd recommend the QuickFix for toning/yoga. i don't have any cardio ones. definately only a DVD as you can mix and match workouts.

Okay, I'm not sure how but I am down another 0.6 lbs this week -- that makes an even 8 lbs loss since February. :)

It's fairly baffling, though. I didn't really work my eating plan this week, I did one less workout than usual (because I had a dentist appt one night when I would usually work out), and to top it off, AF is in town. Go figure.....

I'll just keep easing my way down. My clothes are fitting well, and I'm feeling pretty good these days, so onward we go! :goodvibes

Well... as expected, my weigh in is less than spectacular. These dam "female" issues are driving me nuts. They show up on the scale AT LEAST twice a month! (I know, TMI for most folks.) I am up 1.4lb. ICK. But the munchies obviously got the better of me this week. I tried to count everything I ate, but how many points for a spoonful of brownie batter??:rotfl: How many points for two bites of my DS's pizza crust?? Oh well.

I have an overnight trip to Cape Cod with my DD tonight to attend a bridal shower tomorrow, so my eating this weekend is going to be difficult! Plus my wedding anniversary is Sunday... don't know what we are doing, but it will probably involve food! ..................P

i'm off too -- be back Sunday -- my weekend does involve one meal out, so i'm planning around that and will just make a pact with myself to choose wisely and if i choose to have a beer (going to a Pub that makes beer) then I will only have ONE! hold me to that!!

i was down 4 lbs this week, but that is coming after a week solid of not caring and gaining 4 lbs. so i'm back to re-start and i'm good with that. 3 more weeks until summer and shorts and such!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around. It's been a crazy week. Man we fell down far on the list!

I weighed in this morning and I'm down another pound. I'm pretty happy about that because with the wild week I've had I didn't get to work out since last Wednesday. I have been watching my diet and I guess I've been more active just not actual exercise. Either way, after not working out for a week I'm re-motivated. I think I just needed a little break but now I'm ready to go again.

I don't know that I'm going to make my goal of 135 before our trip since we have about 4 and a half weeks left. I'm at 141.5. My goal now is to be below 140. I want to see 139 at least before we go. Anyway, hope you all have a good week.

Good afternoon summer club friends! Where has everyone been lately?? I keep coming to check and I have to keep reading my own posts!! Give me something good to read!

I don't think that my weigh-in tomorrow will be spectacular..... actually, it may be a spectacular GAIN! I've just not been motivated to eat well over the last 5-6 days. But I think I am finally regaining control and will hope that things start moving in the right direction.

What a beautiful summer-type day we are having here in NH today! I'm glad I got my workout in early this morning because it is getting hot! I may try to get in about another 30 minutes at some time today, but no guarantees!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's weigh-in success tomorrow! Use this afternoon and evening to get in your "last chance workout" and have a nice healthy, low calorie dinner. Pump up your water intake and tomorrow should have good news on the scale! See you all tomorrow!..................P

Howdy all! Not too many of us reporting in today, huh? I am happy to report that I lost last week's "gain" plus a little bit more. I am down 1.8, which brings me to a new adult low weight since my pre-wedding weight in 1992!!! That means that the last time I was this size was 17 years ago. YIKES!

I did eat (much) more than usual last weekend, but I am starting to wonder if that HELPED my weight loss. I usually don't eat my WW 35 flex points during the week (at least, not all of them), plus I NEVER take my activity points into account. Perhaps that is why my weight loss has been so slow lately. Well, I'm not going to use it as an excuse to go hog-wild with my eating this weekend, but it is certainly something to think about.

OhMom.... good attitude about the tiny gain. Don't let it get you down. Don't forget, being female gives you an "excuse" several times a month for "water weight"!! As long as you are feeling leaner and your clothes are fitting well, that is what counts.

Not sure what to tell you about the chocolate cake. My first suggestion would be to cut yourself a portion and IMMEDIATELY put the rest in the sink and cover it with hot water, then dump it down the garbage disposal or in the trash. I know it is wasteful, but if it is sitting there it will be hard to resist. If DH is going to eat some, tell him to eat his portion TODAY and then whatever is still there after you have both had your share, TRASH IT. If you just can't bear to waste it, wrap up the leftovers (if there are any) and tuck it away in the freezer for another day. HTH.

acename... I think if you were DILIGENT you could lose those last 6 pounds in 4 weeks. But it will be tough and it will mean NO cheats and maybe some extra exercise. But whatever happens, you should be happy about how far you have come so far.........................P

Howdy all! Not too many of us reporting in today, huh? I am happy to report that I lost last week's "gain" plus a little bit more. I am down 1.8, which brings me to a new adult low weight since my pre-wedding weight in 1992!!! That means that the last time I was this size was 17 years ago. YIKES!

Congratulations - how exciting!!!

I am down .2 lbs this week, so pretty much stayed the same. That is hunky dory with me, since we've had my parents in town for the past week and eaten pizza, chinese food, etc. I am thanking my lucky stars for this result, believe me!!!

Will try to get back on track after they leave on Sunday.

pjlla -- cake update --- i told my oldest DD she could 'share' my 1/3 of the cake, well she couldn't stop herself and ate my entire portion! lol....unfortunately i didn't know this and had taken a few bites to realize I was really eating my youngest DD's portion, so that helped me STOP! and put it up. funny thing is she STILL hasn't eaten her portion of the cake! freezing it is a GREAT idea....do that tomorrow!

making the cut update -- getting easier? i haven't decided if this week is just easier or if really i'm getting conditioned to some of the 1 min cardio intervals. i did think that my thighs looked toner today :woohoo:

i've been doing pretty good on the eating front this week -- focused for a positive WI on friday -----

Hi everyone. After a really indulgent weekend I'm finally back on track. I snuck (sneaked?) a peek at the scale and I think I'm still doing ok. I have 3 and a half weeks until vacation and I should see a 13-something before we leave without much problem. I did move on to level 3 and I love it so much more than level 2. I felt my heart beating harder but my muscles weren't hurting as bad as level 2 which is great for me. I dreaded doing level 2. I think that's why I slacked off so bad. I'm excited to do level 3 again to see how much better I can do. Hopefully this will help. I'll give a bigger update tomorrow. Glad to see everyone is doing well.

Things have certainly been quiet here. OhMom... glad the cake situation didn't derail you.

Acename... I haven't COMPLETELY given up on 30 day Shred, but it DEFINITELY increases my knee pain. I'm taking a short break from the Shred and doing the BL Cardiomax instead. Still causes some knee pain, but I am able to modify the worst parts and the worst of the pain is usually gone by the end of the day. I still have no problem with the treadmill (full incline, walking, and running), and with doing power-step, so I am keeping up with those too.

Well... I have about 22 days to reach my original goal and I am still clinging to almost 10 pounds, so I am not holding out much hope, but I will not be too disappointed. I will just keep plugging along and head toward an alternate date of July 31 to be at my goal weight. That will still get me to goal with 1/3 of the summer left to enjoy!................P

Weigh-in day. I'm down 1.5 to 140. With a little over 3 weeks left until vacation and only 5 pounds to my original goal I think I might make it. I'll have to be pretty diligent but I really believe I can do it. I haven't exercised very much in the past week so hopefully if I ramp that back up again i'll see the results I want.

I'm not sure how I'm still losing honestly. My diet has been pretty bad lately. Maybe I'm making better choices than I remember but I know yesterday I had 4 REGULAR Dr peppers. After we had company this weekend I whole bunch got left in my fridge and I just couldn't resist. But they're gone now and there won't be anymore coming in the house. I feel so much better without soda. I really need to stop drinking them again. Anyway, maybe the fact that I"m making mostly good choices is still allowing me to lose. Hopefully making nearly all good food choices and ramping up my exercise will get rid of that last 5 to my goal.

pjlla, level 2 of shred reallly hurt my knees and I don't even have knee problems. I didn't have that problem at all with level 3 and I can't wait to do it tomorrow (i alternate days). I can't believe I actually like exercise now. Well, I hate it while I'm doing it but I feel so good when I'm done. Last night I was so pumped up after working out I had a hard time going to sleep. Gotta make sure I work out earlier tonight. Well see y'all later!

I had NO pre-existing knee pain AT ALL until I started the 30 day Shred. All of the knee pain and quad pain I have started after I began the Shred. Even all the walking, treadclimber, and elliptical I've done at the Y haven't caused me any pain. That Shred is definitely tough on the knees with all of the squats and lunges. It is too bad I can't continue to do it more often, because I think it was working. Oh well.. it sucks to get old!............P

Yeah the squat thrusts really hurt for me. and the chair squats and I'm only 23! :headache: Hopefully I can stick with level 3 because you're right, shred really does work and I don't feel like I have to dedicate over an hour to exercise everyday.

Where is everyone??

Well... I hope everyone is fine and having fun this weekend. We (I) have been going non-stop with yardwork. DD is having an 8th grade graduation party with about 40 friends invited in about 26 days and the yard needs to be LOVELY! I got asked to do a long-term sub job for the last three weeks of school, so I won't have any days at home to work outside.... I am stressing a bit, but I know it will somehow get done. DH and DS are at Home Depot right now buying more mulch. We have already spread 26 bags! (We have a really large lawn and lots of flower beds). But at least all of the yard work is good exercise!

I hope everyone has a moment to come over and let me know how they are doing. I'd like to see this thread stay alive until at least the first official day of summer!.................P

it's my day today!

acename -- you are doing great!! your positive attitude plays huge role in achieving your goals!

pjlla -- 26 bags of mulch! yowser!! i just went and bought 6 :thumbsup2 i'm just planning on a light coat in the worn down placese this year. we'll have the expense of mulching around/under the trampoline we just bought so there ya go :upsidedow

that stinks that the 30 day shred is tearing up your knees! i dont' know anything about it -- routines/exercises -- but i'm on week 4 of Making the Cut and i can say that my knees hurt a bit this week and my knees never hurt! i'm thinking it's all the lunges and/or step plyos. just curious if you have narrowed down which movements you think are the culprit??

i did a sneak w/i today, tomorrow is my WI day for BL....i'm down .2 from last week but i'm ok with it b/c i didn't do that great on the weekend and was up on tuesday.

gtg -- off to make graduation cards for the couple parties we have on Sunday

Glad to see someone come on to revive our dying thread!

I think it is the lunges that are hurting my knees, but once they start hurting, they hurt with almost everything... squats especially. I haven't done 30 day Shred for a few weeks and my knees are definitely better, but they still hurt after doing the BL Cardiomax and they get stiff when I sit too long (like at the movies). But I can still do plenty of walking, running, steps, etc without trouble (thank goodness!). I'm not sure if I should attempt the Shred again... I'm kind of scared to really hurt my knees. I may end up making a doctors appointment to have them checked (and believe me, I NEVER go to the doctor unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary!!)........P

Well, I stayed the same this week. I'm not suprised. My niece and nephew are out of school now and I keep them all week so I haven't had a chance to work out very much. The diet has been ok but it could be better. I've got to get back in the habit of working out. It seems like once i got out of the rhythm it's so hard to get started again. Everyone is doing great. Only a couple of weeks left until summer is officially here!

Hi everybody!

Just checking in to make sure we're all doing okay. Thanks for the nudge to keep me stopping by. ;)

I've stayed at basically the same weight for about 4 weeks now. This is a very good thing, since I have not been as careful about my eating as I should be. I have, however, done some tweaking to my exercise, trying different workouts, and maybe that is making the difference. Or at least keeping me from gaining.

I got the new Jillian Michaels' book from the library and have been flipping through it this week. I found it kinda disappointing, in the sense that she pushes the "all organic" and "everything around you is dangerous" stuff to an extreme. I mean, I try to buy healthy food but I still need to work within my budget -- there are tradeoffs to that, you know? Telling me that I should not use any canned food. No vegetables in the steamer bags. No antibacterial soap. It's very limiting.

Anyway, that's just my opinion, of course. I do see the benefit of organics for some things, but I think I'll have to find my own way as far as the other stuff goes.

I have my aerobics class tonight and I'll be weighing in tomorrow. Have a great day!

Good morning all! I am thrilled beyond belief to report that I am down 2.8 lb. this week. :cool1: I'm doing my own little happy dance here! I am 7.2 lb away from my goal weight. I never thought I'd see the day. I am not 70 pounds overweight or even 17 pounds overweight..... I am a mere 7 pounds overweight!

I hope my happy vibe is reaching everyone. zigzagzerr and acename... maintenance can be a GREAT thing! It is much better than the idea of gaining! Z.... which JM book was it?? I agree with the IDEA of eating all organic, etc but sometimes it is impractical IRL.

Have a SUPER weekend everyone. Mine will be very busy, so I probably won't make it back on here until Monday.........................P

WoW! pjlla -- :rockband: that is FANTASTIC!!!

zzz- i agree that she can be over the top, at least for my reality -- even in Making the Cut it's too extreme in the food plan so i'm modifying. sure i'd lose more if I ate exactly what she plans probably, but i'm still slowing shedding....

i did maintain this week --

Well last night I desided to have a Taco Salad to Eat before I work out on my Mom's Treadmill for 30-45 minutes. This morning I did my weekly weigh-in and much to my delight I lost 3 plounds which puts me back to under 200 pounds (I weigh 198 pounds). I will be busy this weekend. Next thursday (June 18th) I have a Doctor's Appointment I'm nervous but I will be ready for what he has to say about my Physical.

Went to the doctor's last Friday and she was ecstatic. I've lost 10 pounds since October when I was last there. Another 10-15 and I can get off of the blood pressure meds. YAY!! Plus, my test results were abnormal last time came back normal this time. Double YAY!! I bought my first bathing suit in over 10 years and my mother and I are starting to do aqua aerobics starting this summer.

It was the new "Master Your Metabolism" book. Like I said, I agree with the organic too -- but felt that a lot of her book was not feasible for most of us.

Helloooooo.... anybody home?? Where has everyone been? Just a few more days and we will officially be in summer and then we can let this thread die gracefully!

I've been doing well. I gained a tiny bit this week, but I am definitely experiencing some bloating, so I don't expect it to stick around. I have a nice dress to wear to a wedding next weekend that I had taken in (it was a 16 and I am currently about an 8). She did a nice job tailoring it, but it fits JUST RIGHT, so I can't afford to gain anything this week! (Too bad because it is my birthday week!!) And I am behind on my monthly exercise total too, so I will need to GET MOVING this week! My goal is to be down the weight I gained this week (.6) plus another 2 lb. by Friday morning. That will bring me to a nice round number just 5 pounds away from my ultimate goal. I won't quite make my birthday/Summer Club goal, but darn close!

zigzagzerr.... my DD also had her 8th grade dance about a week ago. Isn't it amazing how quickly they grow up??!!

I hope that all of my Summer Club friends are doing well in life and with their weight loss...................P

I feel like I am talking to myself here! Okay. Since I seem to be the only one left hanging around, I guess I will go home. Summer officially starts Sunday, and I think that was the "end date" of this thread, so I will say good-bye. It has been nice to get to know some of you and I hope that you have all been successful taking off weight for the summer season. If anyone is interested in continuing to talk here on the WISH board, may I suggest the BL Summer Challenge thread? All are welcome. Continued good luck to you all..............P

Good afternoon gang. I just want to share some great news. I was at my Doctors Office today for a Physical. The Nurse weighed me I weighed 190 pounds which is 3 pounds less than what I was last week. My EKG was Normal I will know soon what the results from my Blood sample was. My Doctor was happy that I lost so much weight from my Last visit last year. :thumbsup2

Well Summer is here and I did not meet my goal (not even close), but I am still not giving up. I plan to make it to the gym tomorrow. And as a family, we have all decided to give up soda. (actually a request for my DS from his orthodontist). Am motivated to help my DD13 lose weight as well.

I hope all of you have done well here and will continue to stay healthy.

Even though we have hit summer officially, are we going to keep this thread going?
