The recent plane crash really hit our area hard. A friend was over the night it happened and when they announced that there was a plane crash we just assumed that it was a little 2 seater - we stayed up until 1:00 in the morning watching the news coverage and every day we've been hearing about the lives lost. The whole community is still in shock and each day there is another memorial service or funeral. Well, for some reason those idiots from Kansas decided to protest at the funeral for Alison Des Forges, she was a world renowned expert on genocide and human rights in Africa. Why they picked her funeral I don't know and I was suprised I didn't hear about this earlier (actually I'm glad the local media didn't give them any publicity). Here's an article from The Buffalo News on it and if I had known about it I would have been there too! The local reaction and the end result makes me proud.

:sad2:

That group is a sad bunch!

Were they at the Oscars last night? Sean Penn made referance to "that group outside" last night in his speech.

There were anti-gay protesters outside the security gates for the Hollywood at Highland block last night. Haven't heard yet if they were Westboro or not.

Those people are truly evil. :(

Yes, I caught Sean Penn's comment too, and wondered what group found it necessary to be there. :(

I'm so over ignorance. I really am.

Pity that it's not over us yet.

I assumed it was those Westboro nut jobs when he made that comment, but it could have been any hate-filled bunch of idiots.

I'm sick of ignorance and those who defend it.

Hey Saxton,

Glad to hear Buffalo has it right. Here in Rochester, there's been a fair amount of coverage of the crash but I'm sure not nearly as much as you.

Did you ever wonder if these people put as much energy into spreading good as they do spreading hate what would happen?
