Got home from church & made a Mexican Lasagne for lunch/dinner. It was yummy. Watched 2 episodes of the Naked Archeologist, took a nap, and now I'm ripping MP3 files for my iPOD.

YES - I am now in the 21st century. DH won a bid for an iPod Nano 8 gig, 4th gen....$100 (I've been wanting an iPod for awhile) & I ordered a 15 piece accessory kit with skins, case, speakers, extra ear buds, splitter for extra ear buds, some other stuff....$23.95/no shipping or tax. DH down-loaded a movie & I'm ripping all Beatles albums, 4 Chicago albums, 1 Moody Blues, the best album of all - TOMMY, Abba, Mama's & Papa's - all the good stuff. I need to dig out my Wings albums & other stuff. My computer needs more memory, so this will take a little longer than it should - so I'm going to be bugging everyone here while I do this!

DH emptied the storage unit & closed it out & came across my street skates. Once I get the arm band for the iPod, I think I'll dust off those skates & go bust my azz!!! :lmao:

That sounds like a good day! We came home from church, and planned our menu out for the week. I took the kids and went to Walmart to get groceries. Came home, put on a pot of chili, built a fire in the fireplace and then had planned on relaxing. However, my 8 year old has been misbehavin and DRIVING ME NUTS!!! She's in her room, but if she doesn't stop whining soon I'm gonna have to open up the big can of whoop you-know-what!

Maybe I need a beer.

Dave - My Dad's favorite line was.......

STOP CRYING OR I'LL GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO CRY ABOUT.!!!! All the while...pointing at his belt!!!

I don't ever recall the belt coming off. We never dared to push him that far!

The chili & fire in the fireplace sounds welcoming. 1st, get the beer. Then get the whoop azz!!

I loves my Nano, Deb. What color did you get? I got basic black. There is cool video podcast site with HD videos of various Disney attractions.

I finished my plumbing project at the office, sent DS back to college from his weekend with us, returned a shirt to the mall, went to an open house with my wife just cause she's nosey, took my daughter to a car dealer to look at cars when the salesmen aren't around (gotta get her back on the road or we can't go to Disney in October, but man, she's never gonna save enough money), took the wonder beagle out a couple times, and wrote on the Dis board a buncha times.

I got the Blue Nano. I'm new to this particular technology & am chomping to learn it. The movie DH downloaded was Nights in Rodanthe. I was blown away by the clarity of the picture and the sound!! Now, I'll want the $100 Bose Buds. Gotta wait on that unless I find a give away deal on the internet.

Either you are very, very good at plumbing, or you didn't have a lot left on the project, or you started in at 5am. Plumbing is one thing that never seems to go easily!

Look on Craigslist for a car, Jim. There are a ton of cars available on there in my neck of the woods.

Give Mickey the Wonderbeagle a hug from his Auntie Deb!!

I saw that you're planning to go to WNY sometime soon. Get Al's number and try to catch up with him for a few beers. Let him buy them!! :thumbsup2

The plumbing started Friday morning, but I was at it this morning around 7, and finished about 9.

I have done a ton of laundry, a couple loads of dishes & played around online per usual. Wrote out some bills & balanced the checkbook. Spoke to my mother & my oldest DS who is off at college for a bit on the phone. DH cleaned out the garage & began the camper cleaning for our upcoming spring break trip. Oh (I know this wasn't the question) but yesterday we went to look at some fabulous Class C motorhomes at a local RV dealership. Oh my, there was a Coachmen Freelander (has bunks in the back) that was so cool. Would be perfect for our large family. But alas, it costs way too much.
Anyway, you guys had me at Mexican Lasagna & chili. YUM!

BTW Deb if you bring it for MDW I have the Bose protable speakers that I always take in the MH the sound it great and I think I can hook it to any IPod

Put a roast in and made cookies and can't even invite your own sister over to eat? Shame on you!

We babysat last night and this morning and had the kids here for most of the afternoon. Now we are worn out and ready to take naps. We haven't done anything all weekend, not anything productive anyway.

I spend all day yesterday and today hand sewing carpet tape on the edges of carpet to put in the trailer since I removed the trashy OEM carpeting and am replacing it with custom sized carpet runners. Tomorrow I should finish the first of three. So this little project will take me almost 10 days working most of the time for over 10 hours a day.

Today is my Boston Terrier's 7th B-day. So, we made the kids breakfast of bacon and eggs, spent the day playing with them and held a little birthday party where they had a b-day cake and goodie bags full of toys while we had cupcakes. We have all settled down now to watch the Nascar race in Ca.
It's been a blessed day for all of us. :)

The last time I was in D.C., I got turned around going from Columbia, M.D. to Dulles Airport & missed the exit for I495 to the west side, eventually saw the Capitol on the left (shouldn't have seen the Capitol at all), and ended up looking at a sign stating we were heading south towards some city in Virginia. :scared1: I got off the by-pass at the next exit, went into two gas stations where no one spoke english, pulled into a Mc Donalds, ran inside & virtually screamed: "DOES ANYONE HERE SPEAK ENGLISH?", found out if I kept on I495, it would turn north and take me into the exit for Dulles. This was long before GPS systems. By the time the people mover got us to the right terminal & we got checked in, they were just about ready to close the door & take off. This was pre 9/11 days, so we'd never be able to cut it that close in today's world.

Slept late due to the flu, then went and shared the virus with Dad while helping to put in a window on the log home. Not a lot of progress, but the flu has slowed us all down this past month. That, and we were supposed to get 6 to 8 inches of snow (got a dusting instead).

Played cards and had a pot-luck supper with the neighbors in the late afternoon. They were also bored and waiting for the snow.

Wasn't the short covered by IWM??? I have DSL at church, only because it was cheaper & easier than R.R. The commercial DSL is pretty worthy once you get it running. I had DSL at home, and even though I get a discount due to retirement, it sucked, so went back to RR.

That sounds tedious, Larry. Although, you will probably do a much better job than if you hired it out. How's the leg??

Not only tedious, but extremely time consuming. I use a hand awl and nylon upholstery thread and the awl works something line a sewing machine where you start it and pull like 4 ft. of one end of the thread thru the first hole (this then become the thread like on a bobbin in a machine) and then using a hand awl with a sewing machine type needle on it with the rest of the spool of thread on it you manually do each stitch by pushing the needle thru the thread and then pulling a loop in the thread from the needle put the long piece thru the loop and then pull the needle back out and tighten the stitch. It works just like a machine lock stitch, but is extremely slow. I also had to make my own edge binding from duck cloth and I have to do like three runners with a total binding length of around 75' and at around 6 stiches per inch that some 5,400 stiches:scared1: However, I get exactly what I want and time is something I have plenty of.

The leg, actually the knee is fine. Every so often it stiffens up during the night, but once loosened up it fine.

I finished the first runner today (3 days starting at around 5 to 6 AM and quitting at 6 PM ... but that's not continuous since I need, coffee, potty, and just down time breaks, but I probably do put in a good 6 to 7 hours of actual working) and am very pleased with how it came out. It does really keeps the fingers well exercised. I just enjoy making custom stuff like this and have made every thing from cell phone holder, to printer/scanner storage bags, to socket/wrench pouches, to tele steps ladder storage bags, to scanner/radio covers, to you name it and I just might have stitched one together.

I hear you on the joints, etc., but at this point that is just part of getting on in years and I'm looking at getting my first SS check in the next year. :thumbsup2 :cool1: :rotfl2:

My dh hopefully helped save a life on Friday afternoon while on his way home from work. It was a rural road, no traffic except for dh and the car coming at him in his lane! The car ended up drifting back in its own lane, going through a field and smashing into a parked 18 wheeler. Dh called for help and in the meantime, did what he could to help this poor man. The man was badly bleeding, unconscious, etc. Dh stayed with him, held him and talked to him, and tried to control the bleeding until the emergency squads arrived and he had to get out of the way so they could extricate the man from the vehicle.

We have no idea what happened to this man. Dh had looked at the vehicle registration to get the man's name, but no hospital has him as a patient and, thankfully, we haven't seen an obituary either. I'm praying he made it and is okay....

He usually usually ducks out as soon as emergency help gets there. He just sort of backs away from the chaos and leaves. Dh is very modest and doesn't want any attention or involvement. This last one was much more serious though, and he had to give his name, address and phone #.
