View Full Version : We don't flame

You know, over the past few weeks there have been a couple of "don't flame me" in the thread title. Every time I see that I think to myself, "we don't flame here ". Think about it, for the most part we are a nice bunch of people who are having fun making things. Sometimes we remind people to only ask one DISigner to do something so 3 people aren't working on the same DISign. Sometimes we try and remind people, gently, that the busy DISigners have jobs, children, family and outside interest. But we are for the most part a real nice group of people that get along with mostly everyone. :goodvibes We watch people come, we watch people go and welcome them back joyfully when they stop in for a visit.:grouphug: So ask away, no question is too difficult, no request will be flamed and hopefully you will enjoy your stay on this board. :flower3:

To ask a question, how do you people do these amazingly beautiful things? Like, these character filled names are SOOOOO amazing I am simply in awe of some of the designs I have seen here!! But, I feel kind of like a mooch asking someone to make all these names for me. Is it really ok? Are they not sitting there thinking, why doesn't this lazy person learn how to do this? LOL *** I would looove to learn but have no idea how, what kind of program I would need or even how to search the internet to better educate myself. So, any and all nudges in the right direction(s) would be greatly appreciated!

I only DISigned for a short time but I've been around for several years watching the DISigners create for others. They really don't mind the requests because they enjoy designing and helping out others. All they ask is that people be polite in their requests and understand when they can't get to things as quickly as some people need. After all, they do this for free. Otherwise, they look forward to the requests and seeing peoples excitement.
Oh, one more thing, they (as well as everyone else here) LOVE  to see the final products and hear stories about how the DISigns made people's trips extra special.
For example, my DH wasn't really into matching shirts the first couple of years. I talked him into it for Food & Wine Festival. He loved the attention that we received. He had one guy ask him where he got his shirt. The guy told his wife "Now, this is a shirt you could buy for me and I'd wear". The gentlemen was disappointed when he found out it was custom and could not be bought on property. I also made orange MNSSHP shirts the same year. We went into a store and a CM asked us where we got them. We told them they were custom made. They told us that they had a couple come in asking for orange MNSSHP shirts. They told the couple that only CM's had orange shirts. The couple went on & on about how they had seen the coolest orange MNSSHP shirts and they weren't the ones the CM's were wearing. The CM's talking to us assumed that the couple were looking for "our" shirts. I made sure the DISigners knew this on our return.

I completely agree with you, Penny! Every designer that I have met has been friendly and caring. Just speaking for myself, I am just a simple gal from Pennsylvania who likes creating things. I try to complete requests in order unless I see that someone needs something right away. The only thing is that my family always comes first. And I figure.....anyone that can't understand that probably wouldn't be vacationing in a magical family place like Disney.

This is also very true. A couple words of Thanks (and maybe a picture or two:banana:   ) really mean a lot!

I think that it is because the other boards are not always as caring and kind as we all are.
I have pretty much only ever posted and spent any time here - in our little corner. Recently I have ventured out a little and been reading some things throughout the DIS on several differnt boards. Oh My - some of the things I see! Sometimes the negativity is HUGE! When I see that, I run away scared back to the safety of the DISign boards.
So, to all, who are venturing out and may be new over here - do not be scared - we are great bunch of friendly people!

I'm soooo glad you posted this Penny!!
I agree...no flames here...i love this little corner of the boards:cloud9:
Since I started DISigning...i spend more time here than anywhere.
I think people get worried about asking for non-Disney or non-trip related stuff.... but I don't think that anyone minds...i know I don't! i like to see what everyone else comes up with!!

Not only does nobody flame all you 'old pros' are so encouraging to the new disigners on the block. I was amazed at how many people took a peek at my first ever disigns and had positive feedback.
Truly, the friendliest thread on the boards.

This little quiet area of the boards is a wonderful place to to fill up some free time for me. I have had my DISign shop open for a little over 4 months now and I am amazed at the wonderful feedback that we receive from other Disigners and from the not so regulars.
It's nice to have people enjoy our designs and its great if you post pictures too. :goodvibes
With that said.... I'm not trying to hijack this thread but I would like to take a second to thank all of the other designers here.

Oh Mel, Don't even start me. I registered my niece (DH's brother's child), my great niece (my sister's granddaughter) and myself for the pin event on 6/26. We will be staying at the Boardwalk DVC. Now, unfortunately, our graduations are that day and I have to speak at both of them. The last one will be over at 3:00. DH will have his niece and my luggage in the car and will be waiting for me to finish with the graduation. I will quickly change and he will rush us to the Philly airport (and pray there is no traffic) so we can catch a plane at 5:50. We will miss the first day of the event, but will be there for Saturday and Sunday. Last year Dom made some good clip art that I used with the backgrounds they provided and made some great shirts. Here's hoping we can do the same thing. However, this DISign, (the logo for the event) will go on my canvas bag. :goodvibes Thanks so much, (see you didn't know what you started LOL) Penny:hippie:

My thoughts EXACTLY! This has been me for the last two weeks:surfweb:
I have gotten a bunch of great DISigns and will be finishing up a few small requests today. I have made about 10 shirts so far, have another 24 waiting and am thinking about buying some more. I will be doing a LOT of ironing in the nine days before we go:eek: As soon as I can figure out how, I will post pics and credits.
Thank you to everyone, this is so much fun and I can't wait for my DD to see all her surprise birthday shirts.

Well family members just need to get it together Right?lol
Ah sweetie it will be a rush but I know it will all work out.
Ryan just told me he may not be able to make it for our March trip--last semester before he graduates,,,Life has a way of getting in the way of Disney trips sometimes. I told him if he can't go I'll think of him as I circle my way around Epcot, and the have a drink for him at the pub in DTD,,,ah you should have seen his face--Priceless! Hugs to you!
