DS went to his very first UIL band competition yesterday. He got a score of "Superior" for both snare and timpani. He has been working really hard to be ready for the judges, so I am really excited that he did well! :thumbsup2

That's great! Keep up the hard work, Dude! Who knows, if you continue to do well at this, you might end up being able to play in a Disney orchestra one day. :wizard:

Or better yet, a drum corps!!! :rotfl2:

Since he seems to really like drumming I would probably let him join a corps in a couple of years. He just turned 13, so he's not quite ready for that yet! :)

Hey, Crossmen are right down there in San Antonio! :thumbsup2

That's like 4 or 5 hours from here. Not a drive I care to make frequently, but I can check into it and see what programs they have. Thanks!! :)

Congratulations!
Thanks for sharing your pride with us. It's one of the reasons I love this board so...we share the ups and the downs and all the nitty gritty stuff in between!

I am curious to see if they will send out an e-mail today with everyone's scores. :goodvibes

Do they actually give a score, or just lump into categories like Excellent, Good, Fair etc.....?

DS's rating was Superior = 1. The kids rank somewhere between Superior and Poor, so not really a numeric score other than 1-5.

I am curious to see how the other kids scored, though. I know his 2 friends who play sax probably did really well. I want to see how the other percussion kids scored.

DS got 2 little medals at school today.:) I'm not sure what he is supposed to pin them to. :confused3 I guess he could pin them to his tux when they do performances, but I think they only wear those once a year! :rotfl2: The medals would look kind of silly pinned to his polo shirt. :rolleyes1

Thanks again for all of the congrats for him! :goodvibes

Lindy - Yes, I did get an e-mail of the other scores. Which reminds me, I never printed it. They also read the scores during the morning announcements. :) The majority of the kids got 1's and 2's. I did see a 3, but it wasn't for drums.

Hematite153 - DS will be pleased that his score is still a topic of discussion! :thumbsup2
