When did you pick your "favorite" resort? Was it "Love at first sight", or did you "sleep around" before finding your match?

We stayed at Dixie Landings the first yr it opened and it wowed our socks off, the theming, the decor, the maybe we got treated upon arrivel. I stayed there again after 4 yrs and it was like the first time I walked through the door. I have now graduated and stay at deluxe resorts, JUST CAUSE I AM WORTH IT, bur that has not changed how I feel about Dixe landings. They can change the name 10 times over but it is still DL to me.

My first stay (onsite) was at the Dolphin, which was indeed very impressive. Next came the Poly, which we absolutely loved, then DxL, which became our new favorite. But while at DxL, we took a walk to PO, (now POFQ) and absolutely fell in love. Maybe it's 'cuz we honeymooned in NOLA, who can say. But that's now our favorite.
We've stayed at other places and loved them, our family has grown, and we've purchased DVC to help accomodate it. We will continue to explore new experiences, but I suspect POFQ will remain our favorite!

I fell in love with the Poly at age 14. Unfortuantely, I didnt get back to WDW until my honeymoon which was 9 years later. Once we decided on WDW, I just knew I HAD to stay at the Poly. Although I dont stay there everytime(I would if I were rich), nothing can top that for me(but I find ASMO to be a close second).

Many years ago, for my very first trip to WDW, I stayed at the Poly. I don't know if it's because this resort brings back wonderful memories for me, or that I just fell in love with the decor and location! But this has, and always will be my favorite resort.
I have since moved over to the Boardwalk Villas. When we joined the DVC this was our home resort. While I adore our "new home" the Poly still holds a very special place in my heart. :)

I slept around a little bit, but then in '98 we stayed in a 1-bedroom villa on the Boardwalk and I fell in love. :)

I had stayed at the Poly, WL, CS, and Allstar Sports before staying at the BWI. As soon as I got to the BWI, it became my favorite! I have since stayed at the YC and AKL, and while AKL is pretty close to being a tie, BWI remains my favorite!

We slept ALL around, (stayed everywhere except: swan, allstars, pofq, cs, old key west), and probably only interested in staying swan & old key west out of the remainers. About a quarter way through we found Dixie landings and fell in love had 3 different trips there and the corner room in oak manor is the best! Then we umm upgraded to the deluxes and found CR and Poly they have both over shadowed the dxl, but the 3 of them our definately on our to re-do list! I guess if I picked 1 it would be CR (stayed 3 times in garden & 5 trips in tower) because we have never been unhappy with anything, and it was always remained consistant. We know wherever your room is, or whatever season it is etc.... it will be a great trip! The cm's are friendly & very excited about CR and just add the extra touches of magic to your trip! MKY:D

I didn't fall in love until my 2nd trip, which was at CBR. It was for DH and I, 10th anniversary. We were in Trinidad North and I just fell in love with the tropical theme. I have fond memories of the place. I loved walking around the promenade with my DS, riding the surrey bikes, swimming in the quiet pool, DS and I enjoying the fireworks we saw at the beach by the Banana Cabana, while DH and DD were at ESPN Club, just a very relaxing place. Am I still in love? Of course I am, but even if I stay at a different resort, CBR will always be my 1st love. :D :D

...have a fav yet; I guess they ALL are since WDW is my favorite place to be and staying at any of the resorts lets me do just that. In July we will add 2 more resorts to the list (CSR in Dec 99, DxL in Feb 2001, and Dolphin in Nov 2001) and I suspect that WL will be my NEW fav!!!!:)

I can't vote because I can't decide. Each trip is difficult to plan because I want to try all the resorts and I want to stay at all the ones I have already!!! The only one I don't really have a burning desire to go back to is Port Orleans French Quarter. I also don't have much desire to try anything at the institute (though the bungalows have a bit of a draw) and none of us have any desire to stay at the Contemporary. All I have left to try is The Beach Club, The Boarwalk Inn and Villas, Old Key West, Swan and All Star Sports and Movies.
If I were pressed to vote I probably would say... Um... AKL or WL!!!

Hmmm... I guess I can't really vote because both apply to me.
The first time I stayed on property was at the GF in the RPC overlooking the castle. Definitely "love at first sight". What an amazing vacation. I'll always love the GF. Everything else was downhill after that.
I think my current favorite is definitely a 2 bedroom villa. ;) Now that we have kids the GF just doesn't work for us. We need more space and some privacy from the kids! ;)
Maybe my favorite resort experience is still to come??? :)

We've stayed at the AS, POFQ, BWI, BWV, BC, GF, AKL, and SoG.
I've been in the rooms at CBR, CR, and DI as well.
With an upcoming trip I've been in contact with the concierge at YC and Poly.
It's difficult to choose a favorite. I really loved AKL, BWV is wonderful, and BWI is the bees knees. Asking me to choose a favorite from them bogles my mind. I love each of them for a unique reason.

I slept around and finally decided that the Contempo was my favorite resort, although the YC and WL are close behind.

Our favorite place is Shades of Green (the old Disney Inn). It is so beautiful because it sits on a golf course. Our daughter watches the bunnies hop by and the ducks swimming in the water from our room balcony. The rooms are huge too. Can't wait to see it after the additions and renovations are complete. We have stayed almost everywhere on property (All-Star to Grand Floridian) but we always keep coming back to Shades of Green. And you can't beat that price. My wife says she deserves it since she has to give me up to the Army so often.

We stayed at DxL our first trip-all we could afford.
Our 2nd trip was WL! When I walked in the lobby I fell in love! All week I kept saying "I love this hotel". the kids got so sick o hearing it!

I think something is wrong with the poll. I tried to vote, and it said I already had, but I hadn't voted in this poll at all. Now, I can't even see the results. However, to answer the question, we have stayed in 4 different resorts, CR being our favorite so far, but are always open to new favorites.

It was definitely "love at first sight" for us when we stayed at Caribbean Beach last year. We also stayed at the Grand Floridian which is a beautiful, wonderful resort, which we enjoyed immensely, but I have to say, CBR really made an impression on us!
When I stayed at CBR again this past February, I loved it even more! I explored the resort more and saw just how well the tropical theme is carried out.
That's not to say that I won't end up finding a different resort that we like better than CBR. I'm thinking that our next family trip to the Polynesian might just take CBR's place as our favorite, but CBR will always be our first WDW resort love! :D

We stayed at the Beach Club for the first time a couple years back with my parents, this was our first deluxe and we figured we would only do it only once since it was a special trip for my mom. After staying there once, we fell in love and couldn't go back to the values or the moderates. I have since stayed at some of the other deluxes just to try them out, but BC is still my favorite.

We've only stayed at three WDW resorts(see below), but, Coronado Springs is far & away our favorite so far. It's a beautiful resort! What I'm hoping is the Swan will be our new favorite after next week's trip.

I think I'm still finding it, LOL!
Our first two WDW trips were offsite, so they didn't count.
Then we stayed at Shades of Green, and while it was a nice resort, it lacked any kind of theming. That's why when we stayed at Dixie Landings (PO-R) we found our favorite!
But then we stayed at Coronado Springs, and IT became our new favorite.
Up next was the Polynesian, and again, while very nice, it just didn't blow my socks off like I thought it would.
Up next was the Swan, and BINGO! I found a resort that fit me to a "t" in terms of theming, location, color scheme, etc.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, we stayed at the Dolphin and had the most unbelievable view from our balcony facing Epcot. It has been our favorite trip and resort to stay at yet!

Our very first trip was last December and we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. We fell in love with it the minute we walked into the lobby. We went back in May 2002 and stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and all any of us could say all week was that we wished we were at the Wilderness Lodge. We are going again in December 2002 and we had orginially booked rooms at the Polynesian but after watching our tapes and looking at all of our pictures--we switched our rooms to the Wilderness Lodge. I just can't imagine staying anywhere else----ever. :)

Have definitely tried almost all of them. Our general approach has been to try new WDW resort experiences whenever the opportunity comes up. My sister and her family (who we travel with every time) are sold on GF. But for fun and theming (and some consideration of cost) Wilderness Lodge is my favorite!!!!! Need to go back!!!!!!!

I think we have a new favorite every time we go.......right not the Polynesian is #1 for us. POR was numero uno until we stayed at the Polynesian last month.:p
so far our ranking is.....
1. Polynesian
2. POR - Mansions
3. CBR
4. BC (until new room renvoations.....then they will be tops !!)
5. YC ( great location but still love the mods more)
6. CSR

The Contemporary was my favorite until I stayed at the Beach Club in 1992. It is my favorite Disney resort. I try to stay there at least once per year. I sometimes try other new resorts, but I always end my stay at the BC. In addition to the Contemporary and the Beach Club, I have stayed at the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, All Star Music, and All Star Movies.

I love all my past Disney rooms, but one resort shines brighter then them all:
All Star Music!
I have stayed at GF, Poly, CR (when I was young), AKL, and Dolphin, as well as the other 2 All Stars....
Perhaps it's the giant cowboy boots, or the delicious food at the food court, but I always keep going back!
This year I'm going back to the Poly, for the first time in a while, and my mind may change.
BTW: the Broadway building is my fave!!
I have stayed in every WDW resort except for 2 and I enjoy them all but my favorite resort by far is my DVC home BWV. The first time I saw the Boardwalk and BWV I feel in love, so much so that I came home and thought about it for a few days and then bought my DVC membership over the phone! I just love this resort, it has location, it is beautiful and has beautiful villas to stay in. To me it is like being in heaven!

CBR stole my heart last year, our original intention was to check out Beach and Yacht Clubs for our stay this year, but after checking it out, we both decided that CBR felt more tropical and vacationlike, and so this year its CBR again.

I haven't stayed at too many WDW resorts.. Contemporary, Dolphin (2x), Beach Club (2x), Grand Floridian, and AKL, but I fell in love with the Animal Kingdom Lodge when I went there in December. It was for the 100 Years of Magic Media Event, and since my dad is in radio we were with all of the radio people over at the AKL. It wouldn't have been my first choice - I also love the Boardwalk area with the close proximity to Epcot and MGM - but when I walked in I just fell in love. I was initially worried about the transportation, because I had previously only stayed in monorail or Epcot resorts, but I found the bus system to be very efficient and pleasant. I felt like it was a whole experience unto itself.. with the cultural representatives and the animal viewing and everything. I'm so thrilled to be staying there the night before my cruise in a few weeks, and showing the rest of my family how wonderful it is. ::sigh:: :D
We're trying out the BWI for the night after the cruise - I've always wanted to stay there, so I'm excited for that as well. :)

I would have to say it was practically our first one, as a family anyway! We stayed at CBR as a couple in 1989 and didn't return on-site until 1996, not counting the Grosvenor in 1995. So our trip in '96 to the YC was our first official visit on-site in many years. That's where we fell in love!! I guess partly because it was a first (return) visit in a way and also we are originally from New England so I'm sure the theming had a lot to do with it.
Great question, by the way!!
