We just got back from 7 day land/sea and we got picked up by the Disney buses at Animal Kingdom on Thursday. It worked very slick...I'm so glad they do this!

I was glad to hear that you liked this. We are doing the 7 day land and sea in December and I was wondering what we were going to do the morning of sailing day.
Thanks!:)

We are doing the same in October. What time did they pick you up? How much were you able to see in AK before then?
Thanks

How does a pickup from Animal Kingdom work? How many hours do you get and how much does the entry cost?

With the 7 day land/sea package, your park ticket is a length of stay pass, so it didn't cost anything extra. We were given the option when we checked in to our resort. I'm not sure this is available for 7 day cruise people. They gave us a flyer that explained the details and we had to call a special number to reserve a spot on the cruise bus. On Thursday morning, we took the regular Disney transportation bus from the resort to Animal Kingdom where they had very obvious signs for DCL check-in for your carry on luggage. Then we enjoyed the park until 12:30. The pick-up was 12:45, but they were filling buses as people arrived at the loading area. We didn't get to AK as early as we could have, so we did the safari and some shopping and that was about it. I'm still glad we did it.

TPMORELY described it perfectly. I thought getting to AK and then to the port would be difficult but it was smooth as silk. A DCL team was at AK to store our carryone items so that we didn't have to lug them around. We picked them up quickly when we exited the park and walked right onto the bus.
I agree with getting to AK relatively early. We had a great morning but didn't get to see nearly as much as desired.

Do you leave your checked bags at the resort you're staying at and they're picked up from there?
Thanks.

Yes. The bags actually had to be outside your hotel door quite early (maybe 8:00 a.m.???) so it took some organization the night before. We then just left the hotel when we were ready and caught a bus outside the Poly to AK.
The bags were collected and sent to the ship and delivered to our stateroom. All we had to manage was our carryon bags.
