Hi Nebo - just wanted to say that I've been lurking around your TRs for awhile - usually at lunchtime and I really enjoy them. Decided I'd had enough lurking - time to make friends!
Ok, who do we see in the magic mirror today? I see Marie, and I see Janet, and I see Monica,,, and I see you too!
1st!
Wow, I don't think I've ever been first!
Sorry about the toe :sad2: Was Smidgy's hand any better at this point? Here's hoping things are about to get better :goodvibes
Hi Cheli,, as a matter of fact,,well, no, her hand still sucked. The swelling had gone down some, but it hurt like heck for her for the rest of the trip. I hated it when she would call me from the bathroom to come in and,,,, um, well, never mind.
Well, at least you had some influence on them. Like they don't have any influence on you. ;)
Yeah Marie, no kidding about their influence. They have sure influenced the hell out of my wallet and checking account, not to mention all the friends we've lost because all we want to talk about is Disney. I've even said, "Ok, I won't even tell you about Disneyworld tonight, so tell me, what do YOU think about Disneyworld?"
Tell Diane this cracked me up, I think I also uttered the words, so bad, but then still laughed :rotfl:
I think we saw this same CM when we were there last year....was not a pleasant person!
YAY - sounds like you guys were close to where we were. It was far from the actual Boardwalk, but was great to get to the pools or even our car.
It worked fine for us , in fact, we'll probably use it again - hopefully without the tornadoes chasing us....unless you can talk DH into taking 75 all the way.
Tracy, I can take a lot of bad humor, in fact even like it a lot as long as there is no malice intended, which in this case there wasn't. Now Letterman's comment a couple weeks ago was in bad taste, not funny, but what was even in worse taste I thought was the Palin's response by switching the joke to their minor age daughter when that wasn't who he meant.
In the next chapter I'll post some pics that will show you where we were, I thought it worked out real well.
And lastly, you know how they have the Darwin awards for weeding out the dumb? And that's why tornados always head directly to trailer parks? I'd be afraid that if you took that route willingly again, they might have a platoon waiting for you. I can't imagine why you like that route.
Nebo, I feel your pain! I stubbed my toe a few weeks ago and it's been hurting, then I hit the coffee table and the 100 lb dog this weekend. My second toe has been hurting for for days, and I'm limping.
YAY for getting a good location.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate feet.
I'm sorry if I offend anyone but
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
That joke made me spit out diet coke.
Boardwalk - my dream resort, but I keep hearing horror stories about the loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg ggg hallways!
Janet, the hallways are long, but not ridiculously so, IMO.
At least nothing like the hallway we had when we stayed in AK, down the zebra trail,,,,,,,now THAT was a long hallway, and we were'nt even at the end of it! I drank a Sunny D just going from the room to the elevator!
I think you were hitting something before buying the whiskey, good choice though, and just what is a "fuzzy" cup? Wait, I don't wanna know.
I've heard of strong libations putting hair on your chest..........
Those coke zeros would have complimented the whiskey quite nicely.
I wanna know if you went down that pool slide? Like a bum toe would stop you.
There really are fuzzy cups, just on the outside. I don't understand why they feel that way but they do. Dixie makes them and I think they come in a package of 8, with lids. Take a look at your grocery store for them, you won't be able to feel them through the plastic wrap, but they have a solid picture design on the outside, and they work terrific. And I am just not a whiskey and coke guy, ginger ale or squirt would be my preference.
:flower3:
I have some catching up to do. Be back soon.
Yeah, yeah, you're "back soon" is worse then when I say the next chpater will be.
unfortunately, it wasn't a joke.. I really said that! boy did I ever turn five shades of red! (but I still think it was funny)
Dixie sells styrofoam cups with lids, and they're thick, so they feel "fuzzy" to us... but still no hair on Nebo's chest :lmao: (you've all seen his pics) not a hairy guy. I have more hair on my legs than he has! (not that I'm proud about that!) not much hair anywhere, including his head... except his upper lip!!! he could grow a Rain forest there!!!!:rotfl: he's lucky... nowadays guys pay to have their chests waxed!
of course I dragged him on the slide. Has Nebo ever let an injury stop him from anything? He's a trooper!
Nice, real nice about the lack of hair. But you don't see ME clogging up the sind and tub!
Coming out of said outhouse to admit that I too hail from Michigan. Born and raised in Battle Creek.
I also proclaim myself all caught up!!! Fingers crossed for you Nebo... I hope everything turns out a-okay! :thumbsup2
Isn't Battle Creek the original home of Kellog's Cereal? I always knew you were a real flake.
(sorry, that one hurt me too)
I love the joke! It's the sort of thing I would say and then stick my foot in my mouth.......where it resides most of the time.
"The Clot thickens":lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Only you Nebo!
I would like to see a video of your "cockeyed" walk....:rotfl2:
Think "Ace Ventura" and you pretty much have the walk down right.
I know those fuzzy cups! Don't know where I've encountered them but I knew exactly what you were talking about.
I want to see a video of that giant clown upchucking Nebo ! :lmao:
I just amuses the heck out of me that people come out of it's mouth!
Lynn
Yay Lynn for knowing about the cups. And you know, I thought the same thing about watching everyone get thrown up by the clown. Unfortunately, my mind doesn't stop there, disgusting mind that it is. I had to imagine what would happen if the clown was facing the other way, then where would,,,,,,,,

HI S and N, WELCOME! Feel free to join in anytime. I do like your name, since I consider myself very good at it, although I would add one word to it.
"Hey Nebo, how's the foot doing lately?"
Nebo doesn't answer. With a shrug, he just smiles and nods his head.

This made me think of one of my favorite naughty (as opposed to dirty) jokes:
Q - What should you do if you're swallowed by a whale?
A - Just keep running around until you get pooped out.

I get the shrug too - but basically my kids have learned to just "smile and nod" when I start talking disney and planning trips a year in advance - they tolerate me well!
I'll have you know, that I woke up the other night and screamed out, "BUT IT'S FREE DINING!" They even sent us a PIN code for free dining back before they released it to the public. Were they satisfied? Au contraire! We just got another PIN code for value's from 59, mod's from 89, or AK and WL from 139.
Please tell them to leave us alone!

WOW, an extended post from Colleen, hi Colleen.
I get the shrug too - but basically my kids have learned to just "smile and nod" when I start talking disney and planning trips a year in advance - they tolerate me well!
There must be something wrong with me. I literally have just about lost friends because of my inability to stop talking about Disney. And I can hardly ever get folks that do go to do it the right way, MY way, which is the right way.
By the way, does anybody know if all of Trinidad South at CBR is Pirates rooms? Just wondering. :rolleyes1
Coming up soon we are going to tax this old computer to the limits and post a bunch of pictures. Believe it or not, we just got some more back that we just had developed from the trip. And I'm sorry, I think I still like the clarity from a crappy disposable camera better then the digital photos you have been seeing in this report. Gotta start scanning them into the puter now.
Wait, wait, don't leave yet. I have seen like on Jaime's and Winkers threads incredible amounts of pictures they post at one time. Is there another way of doing this that I don't know? I have to go into Photobucket, find the pic, copy the address, then go back to my thread and hit the icon and paste it in.
Is there a way of copying more than one at a time?

Last!! I figure if Chelle was first after this installment then I am most definitely the latest! I loved the explanation of the "just lookin' at" door. And I knew exactly what you meant about the fuzzy cups.
I can't wait to see your pictures of Boardwalk!

I have finally caught up with all the trip reports and now can finally post.
Well,..I could have posted prior to catching up but it would have felt half-as...um,...half-hearted.
Just bassically wanted to say thanks for the Sunny-D idea. It seems to be better then being hopeful they don't take my flask out of my bag.
Jinxy
Hi Jinxy, welcome home!
One thing about the Sunny D, you want to buy the 11.3 ounce bottles, they also have a pop up nozzle that you can even do with one hand, no fumbling and dropping caps and such.
By the way, I was just at the grocery store and saw the hairy cups. THey cost about 3 bucks for a box of 14, with lids, and the brand name is Dixie Cups, Perfect Touch, grab and go. These are also 11 ounce cups. They are really terrific for when you don't want to lug a refillable mug around with you all day.
They really work well keeping hot stuff hot and cold cold. I once made a whiskey and ginger ale at the Dolphin, walked on over to Epcot, and didn't throw it out until the front of the Soarin line. AND IT STILL HAD ICE!
"Hairy Dixie Cups", brought to you by Nebo!
Ok, this is basically a picture chapter, if it works that is.
And I'd like to start with a couple of shots of my grandkids, Jackson and Kaylie.http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/DianeandSteve008.jpg
THis is what happens when the customer asks for key lime pie and you slip in strained green beans instead.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/DianeandSteve009.jpg
I'm not really sure what days I took the pictures, but I do know where I was. Some of these are from the Kodak digital, and some are from a disposable camera.
Let's check out the main pool, the Luna Pool.

Hi Jaime
Whew! That was close. Don't know if this is gonna work anymore.
I have now forgotten what I just copied. Oh yeah, the canal behind the pool that goes to Hollywood Studios.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/ferryboat.jpg
All right! Let's see if we can get in a "Patio View", this is from our room.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/bwroomview.jpg
Now we have a Smidgy, sitting in the smoking area that they thought would be a good idea to place it right out side one of the hotel's entrance doors.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/dianebwsmoke.jpg
One more pool shot, different camera.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/bwpool.jpg
After we got all unpacked, it was time to try again.
Believe it or not, we are still trying to extend the trip, especially now since it finally warmed up. The best I got was two nights, water view at French Quarter, for, are you ready? Over 500 bucks! The weekend moves the rates from value season to "Just write a blank check and we'll fill it in " season.
I passed.
THen we tried our friend that we rented the points from, it seems like you can always get Key West or Saratoga, but all we got was a voice mail so Diane lefe a message.
DInner tonight is at Cape May, a first for us and looking forward to it.
We made a drink in the room, and went to check out the quiet pool. Not a soul was there.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/bwquietpool.jpg
I liked the spot, it seemed really quiet and peaceful.
ANd we never went there again the rest of the trip.
Why?
I don't know. I just know we never went there.
We finished the drink, the went back and refilled it and start the walk around to Yacht and Beach Club.
For some reason it was hard to find, we kept ending up at Beaches and Cream, which was startiing to look pretty darn good to me by now.
Finally, the check in podium, and they gave Diane a buzzer. After about 15 minutes it went off, and we were seated.
Cokes were ordered and it was time to hit the tables. Once again, I am totally lost and helpless.
This is called a clam bake, and I don't do clams, baked, raked, fried, pied, roasted or toasted, or boiled and toiled. I don't eat much seafood, period. Let's not even get into the mussels from Brussels, scallops, oysters, calimari, escargot or Bridgitte Bardot.
I'm looking for soup, salad, meat and potatoes. But I can never tell what anything is on my own.
"Oooh, what's that? Giant califlower?"
"No Steve, those are rolls."
"I knew that."
Eventually, I found what I needed, and it was all very good. Except for one thing. I don't know why, but red-skinned mashed potatoes have gotten really big lately, and I'm not crazy about them.
After i was pretty much done, I took one more trip up to the sea food table, just to check it out.
Nope, not for me. A huge pot of clams, and folks were grabbing them as fast as they could. As I was looking this one huge guy was making a pyramid of them on his plate, and I couldn't help myself.
"Remember, fish are friends, not food."
A couple people chuckled, but he turned and gave me that icy stare that I have become so familiar with this trip.
All in all, I much prefer the Biergarten buffet over this, but a lot of people will love it.
gotta run right now, back soon.

(he was born when I was in high school). she is "the little Phillipino girl from Italy". born in the Phillipines, raised in Sicily. speaks 3 languages VERY well, and is VERY good with the kids. I would LOVE to get her and Danny (my baby bro) down to Disney!!!

I am a BIG fan of pool slides. the one at Luna pool is realy quite good. (and you don't see the clown while sliding down:rotfl:). the new slide at CBR is pretty cool, but it's enclosed.. a tube, like the one at the Poly (oops, we never stayed at the Poly.. did I say that?;)) the slide at the Grotto pool at the Dolphin is good too. but the best resort slide of all is over at the evil empire (Universal) at the Hard Rock resort.
I always end up feeling like an idiot, in line with all the kids. they look up at me like I'm nutz! sometimes, on the stairs, they run past me (where Do they get the energy?) and sometimes the polite ones try to stay behind me on the stairs.... until I say "go ahead run! run free, little ones!!!" and they give me a look of gratitude and run by me. (if all the kids had to wait until I got to the top, no one would EVER slide down!). once I'm at the top, I try tl let a few kids ahead of me, but... gee.. I can't stand there all day, youknow! "Ok kids, move aside the old lady's comin' through! (I think they only want to get ahead of me so they're at the bottom for the big tidal wave when I land!!:lmao:)
arren't Kaylie's eyes HUGE??? and, another thing, she has this "exorcist" neck thing going on. if you hold her on your lap, (and she is facing outwards) and you call her, she turns to look, and I SWEAR her head does a 180! and looks at you with those huge eyes, but her body is facing the other way! (and you thught clowns were creepy!) .. ok, no one tell my son and DIL I said that.. OK?
Rowena: my brother's best friend (Marcelleno) is "career" Navy. and he was stationed in Italy. (well, Italy has Phillipino people living there, just like we do here in the USA) He met and married his now wife, who has a sister. they played Cupid. my baby brother Dan (who I kinda helped raise; when I first met Nebo Danny was 6, I brought his to a picnic Nebo invited me to, and Nebo thought Danny was my son..... Um, I let him think that for a day or so.. just a little "test") communicated with Rowena via letters, Email, phone calls, etc. then Danny flew to Europe to meet his "sweetie". then she flew here. then he flew there and proposed. In front of her whole family, with my mom's engagement ring (she passed away years before). they taped the whole thing. here is this tall blondish guy in a room with a bunch of of little phillipino brown haired, dark skinned people AND her step dad's family... a bunch of brown haired, somewhat short, olive skinned Sicilians. at the wedding, when her step dad walked her down the aisle, he looked like something right out of the Godfather movies! and on the Groom's side, besides us, were our Japanese relatives . It was the United Nation! It was fun!:dance3:
Rowena is very sweet, and now that my dad is getting on in years, she does a good job of looking after him (they live at my dad's house). now we are waiting for them to have kids! but I hope we get to go with them to Disney first, because Danny and Rowena are like 2 kids at heart!
ok, enough family history... on with the show!!!!!
OK, who have we got in the magic mirror today?
I see Nebo, and um, I see Nebo, and I see, whoops, wrong mirror.
Almost snuck that by me :tiptoe:

Clowns themselves don't bother me much, (Hi Pennywise), but one thing I still can't stand are dolls. Especially ones that talk to you. I still have nightmares about "My name is Tina, and I don't like you".
I agree with the seafood thing, good way of putting it. And how come they have fish for brain food, carrots for the eyes, milk for the bones and Big Macs for the fat but there is nothing for a foot?
It would appear, even with all my delays that your lovely and talented wife has outlasted me. I will probably hit the Biergarten episode in the next chapter.
Hey Nebo:wave:
Just droppin in to say I'm still around and lovin the report and pics you share too. I always look forward to your new installments yet will once again be sad when it comes to an end. Fortuneately at this rate it shall be awhile before I have to worry about that:) Your grandchildren are adorable, and just imagine what it will be like to see them at Disney with the magic in their eyes:cloud9: As long as they do it your way of course;)
:lmao::laughing::thumbsup2 I'm not a seafood eater either and I think your theory is a good one.
Yeah, I can't wait to have to run out of "It's tough to be a Bug" with my own screaming toddler in my arms instead of other little kids.
Wait, maybe that didn't come out right.
Nice to see you again Kris.
this was the pic I sent in to audition for the part of an elf in Lord of the Rings, (note the ears!)
Arwen, is that you?
I think our room was right next to yours! too bad it wasn't at the same time!!!
the pretty girl holding our grandkids is Rowena, my baby brother's wife. (he was born when I was in high school). she is "the little Phillipino girl from Italy". born in the Phillipines, raised in Sicily. speaks 3 languages VERY well, and is VERY good with the kids. I would LOVE to get her and Danny (my baby bro) down to Disney!!!
I think this is Smidgy's way of politely saying they both have the mind of a child.
Yay ! A Nebo update ! NASCAR, a cold brew and Nebo on a Sunday afternoon life just dosen't get any better ! Right Smidgy?
Hey Smidgy thanks for telling us who Rowena is I was just about to ask.
She sounds like a very interesting person.
What adorable grandkids.
And Nebo I noticed Charleston Princess left at 4:30am to beat the Atlanta traffic, she's North of me so I suspect she was downtown about 5:00.
Lastly You got a CODE during free dinning !!! Dang it I had to pay rack rate for my free dinning. Some people havee all the luck.
Smidgy is right about the Exorcist neck thing. Scared the hell out of me the first time she did it, I thought for sure I was going to see Linda Blair when the head stopped turning around.
By the way: We got a code for free dining, rack rate. Then it came out for the public. Then we got a code for room only discounts, no free dining attatched, then it came out to the public. The only thing I can figure out is that they just try it out on us first, then they release it!
Notice if you will, the T-shirt that Jackson is wearing, trust me, this is not a "Cubbies" family in the slightest! And once again the evil Detroit is standing in out way. And as I mentioned, the Nebonians and the Winkerites will probably meet up in the next chapter. I know they are expecting the worst and I don't want to disappoint them so I have to be at my sarcastic best when writing. I also know that D-Jay is going to make sure that she gives me both barrels in her report so I might as well hit their batter first.

Why did you go to the clam bake if you don't "do" seafood?:confused3 I don't care for snot in a shell either.:scared:

I am a BIG fan of pool slides. the one at Luna pool is realy quite good. (and you don't see the clown while sliding down:rotfl:).
I was thinking the exact same thing. What a picture that would be to snap of your kid shooting out of the scary clowns mouth, a burp purhaps or an upchuck the caption could read, if you scrapbook.
Ok, that was just too funny :lmao:, but I totallly get you cause this is me to a tee, right? I like your sense of humor girl!
Wait, whose TR am I reading again? Oh, what's his name? Mr. Grumpy? Nemo? What is that Winkers? Nebo? Whose Nebo? Oh, that guy, with no hair, holding a hair dryer. Got it.:thumbsup2 What was I thinking? I must have looked in the wrong mirror too.

Thanks for the welcome, although I swear if it wasn't for the fact I know all my relatives I'd swear we were related. I grew up on the South side and in Elgin.

Greetings Nebo & Smidgy!
Just found your TR a couple days ago (took a while to catch up), and I'm enjoying the heck out of it!
Even if it's old news now, I just wanted to throw my .02 into the "route" mix... I live minutes from I-65, and we won't EVER take 65 again to WDW. We go from here over to Chattanooga (yes, North a little) to get on I-75, it's a MUCH easier drive for us. And from this point it's not more than 10 miles difference in actual driving distance, according to Mapquest and AAA Triptiks.
But of course, like others have pointed out, how easy it is for you may totally depend on what time of day/night you hit the tough spots. We tend to leave home btwn 3-4am, and get South of Atlanta before breakfast (the Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House in Stockbridge is our favorite stop).
Hope all your assorted hurts are healed by now. Looking forward to the rest of the story!

Nurse Ratchet!
wait. I don't remember being there when you were!!! ha.
I laughed at the dead soldier's too. Gosh that sounds really wrong, doesn't it? Y'all know what I mean.
I am now caught up.:yay:
We JUST got back from our magical Disney vacation. IDK if there will be a trip report. I am leaning towards NO WAY IN HADES. But ya never know what a babynurse might do.....

I agree with the seafood thing, good way of putting it. And how come they have fish for brain food, carrots for the eyes, milk for the bones and Big Macs for the fat but there is nothing for a foot?
For the foot maybe there is the toe jam sandwiches, corn on the cob, creamed corn, maybe mushrooms for the fungal issues or (and just throwing it out there) maybe, just maybe, head cheese to help prevent hoof in mouth disease? :lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:
It would appear, even with all my delays that your lovely and talented wife has outlasted me. I will probably hit the Biergarten episode in the next chapter.
There have been several things that have prevented her from updates lately including her going to girls camp, my knee surgery, soon her foot surgery, and the fact that our laptop has died so she has to use the slower computer. She has promised me that after her surgery she will get updates done alot faster. She won't have any choice. She will have to stay in bed with foot elevated for several weeks. (Sorry a little off topic, but not...)

(who made that glitch? ;) )
Yes, Nebo, I will make sure Cherie holds nothing back when she gets to that part of her trip report.:cheer2:
Greetings. Either later today or tomorrow we'll have the "Make a fool in front of the Winker's family" chapter up, in the meantime;;;;
Why must everyone take a picture of the skeery clown slide:scared:
Yes, it's mandatory. Just like a picture of the castle, the giant golf ball and swollen or bleeding body parts.
Your grandkids are so cute!
Why did you go to the clam bake if you don't "do" seafood?:confused3 I don't care for snot in a shell either.:scared:
that clown slide would give me nightmares if I had to look at it for long.
You know why we ate there? It's cheap! And we were paying out of pocket. Plus, we can now cross that restaurant off out Disney list; 30 and counting!
Although out goal is to eventually have eaten at all the table service restaurants there, I realize that there will be some that will never happen. Bistro de Paris, Vicky's and Al's, or Akershus, that place is ALL dead fish.
Ok, that was just too funny :lmao:, but I totallly get you cause this is me to a tee, right? I like your sense of humor girl!
I'm so glad they are bonding over making waves together.

Well Jinxy, we are in Carpentersville, as you know, just north of Elgin, what are you doing down in Georgia?

Hi, thanks for enjoying, and welcome aboard!. Hmm, no name, unless it's hidden in the screen name: I got it! Cindy Jo loves crazy cast members. How bout it? I personally think you make the right decisiion to backtrack to 75, as God is my witness I will never take the shortcut through Alabama again. And we have stayed a couple of times in Stockbridge overnight, but can't say I remember a Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House. That puts a strange image in my head that I think I oughta leave alone, I get in enough trouble.

Clowns themselves don't bother me much, (Hi Pennywise), but one thing I still can't stand are dolls. Especially ones that talk to you. I still have nightmares about "My name is Tina, and I don't like you"
ok I just had to reply to this. Nebo if that scene from the Twilight Zone gets ya stay away from the Twilight Zone pinball machine!! Its a easy hit & her voice just repeats that saying over & over. I swear my kids do that shot repeatedly just to see me cringe.

Kayte, I never saw that game, and now I"m going to have to look for it. Yeah, Telly Savalas never had a chance against that evil Tina.
Before we get started here, first a message from your sponsers.
We recently went to the movies a few times in the last couple weeks. Saw Star Trek, ( thumbs up), Drag me to Hell, (thumbs sideways), and Up, (thumbs sideways). Yeah, Diane liked Up more than I did. We also saw a lot of previews, and one seemed really strange.
It's a violent movie apparently about an internal medicine specialist turned crime fighter.
I think the name of it is G.I. Joe.
Wonder what they'll call the sequel; Lower G.I. Joe?
By the way, one of Smidgy's new housecleaning customers recently went away on vacation, Florida, of course. :headache:
She wanted to know if Smidgy wanted to earn a few extra bucks and take care of watering all the flowers and some new sod that was just laid down. Their house is on about an acre lot, with flowers EVERYWHERE. Of course Diane said yes.
Then she volunteered me.
So that's what I've been doing for the last week. Just what I always wanted to grow up to be in life, an illegal immigrant. Now I'm forgetting how to speak English.
And, by the way part two; remember the "Dead Soldiers" line when she was filling in as a bartender? Well, she was just recently asked to work again there, they were having a special buffet spread set up and they needed a bartender while the regular employees worked on the cooking and stuff.
Well I still havent asked her how it went, after the Memorial Day faux pas, I'm afraid to.
I'm sorry, the possibilities for a "foot in mouth" screw up when there is food involved at the VFW are endless!
"Hi, can I get you a Bismarck? How about some Pie Alamo? Or some Luftwaffles with some slice Napomegranates on top? The Submarines and Torpedo sandwiches will be ready shortly."
"Ok, who ordered the flaming Nagasaki"? "I mean the Saganaki?"
See what I mean?
Endless.
Meanwhile;
The story you are about to read is true, only the names have been changed to protect the idiots.
I just may have gotten a bit smarter here; I first went into Photobucket and pulled out the pics I needed and posted them first, now all I have to do is fit the story around them, that way I won't be surprised after 3 hours of working on the chapter only to find it lock up on me. So far, so good.
Monday, Feb. 10th I believe:
Dope drop at Epcot, lunch with the Winkers, pool time, then back to Epcot for Illuminations.
Now, I have a problem. I was planning on giviing the Winkers a nice sized ration of do do, but unfortunately I'm coming up blanks. I can't even think of good sarcasm to hit them with, they were just friendly and nice. Oh well, we'll see what comes out.
We made rope drop, but in my case, that doesn't mean much on this trip anymore. Even if I'm at the front of the line, it doesn't mean I'm going to still be there by the time the charge is over on the way to 'Soarin. (apostrophe trademarked).
It's now been a full day since a whacked my foot, and when I got dressed this morning, well, are you familiar with the name Roy G. Biv? That's a mneumonic for the colors of the rainbow, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
Those are also the colors that my big toe has adopted, and it is truly killing me. The rest of the foot is also plenty sore, also from the whackage and probably from walking funny to keep the weight off my toe.
Smidgy thinks I talk about the vikes too much in the reports, and she's probably right, but I can't help it, they are a big part of the situation. They also help clarify things sometimes. :scared1:
Hold it. "Dope drop?" Nice.
Uh uh, that's not happenin.
I'll drop a line, drop a name, drop off a kid or drop you a note,
I'll drop off the mail, drop in anytime and I'll even drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life but I won't drop my precious dope.
And on arriving at the Land pavilion, the first thing I did was find a drinking fountain and drop 3 in my mouth.
Yeah, we started out at the front of the line, but by the time we made it down to the bottom of the Land, about 200 inconsiderate healthy people had passed us. And if these pills are going to make the day tolerable for me, they have to be taken before lunch, they don't do squat on a full stomach.
So, even though there are about 200 folks in front of us now for 'Soarin, (apostrophe trademarked), we got smart!
Diane grabbed two fastpasses, and we went and got on the first boat for Livin with the Land. Hey, you can never look at Mickey shaped pumpkins too many times.
After that we then went and saw the movie in the "Staircase of Death" theatre.
It used to be called the Circle of Life theatre, that is until the last time I was there.
I don't know who designed it, but they were truly sadists. The entire theatre is in between two staircases, VERY difficult staircases to maneuver upon. 3 steps down, two and a half steps forward, then 3 down, then two forward. It truly is an accident for Nebo waiting to happen.
And the edge is always right where the bifocal lines are.
The last time we were here, I had such a hard time feeling my way down, almost fell 3 times, that the woman behind me finally yelled out, "Oh please, sir, just sit anywhere, I can't take it anymore watching you!" Plus, you never know where you are going to come out when you leave. Even though you enter near the top of the pavilion, you can exit near the bottom right by 'Soarin, (apostrophe trademarked), or next to a Mickey pumpkin.
Guess what? After the movie and a restroom stop it was now time to use our fastpasses for you know what. (nope, wasn't gonna search for those damn parenthesis again).
Worked out quite well actually, thank you very much.
We then rode the stupid Imagination ride again to kill some time, then headed over to the Showcase, just taking our time. To be honest, taking our time was about the only speed I had in me today, yeah, T o T was pretty much "Pedal to the Medal" for me.
In China we stopped for a smoke, one of the few dsa's that are still left in Epcot, and Diane shot me.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/mechina.jpg
Then, somewhere else there, I won't be able to tell exactly where untill I see the full size picture after it posts, I shot her right back.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/dianesomewhereinepcot.jpg
We have a 12:30 appointment at the Biergarten for lunch, we are both looking forward to it cuz we get to meet some people that have been regulars on the trip report circuit since we joined. Funny how you can feel like you are old friends with someone you've know for a few years and never actually met them in person.
Around 12 we just stayed in the area, and started watching some idiot in Italy do his mime/comedian thing. We should have left a little sooner, but he kept asking Diane to throw a ball in a net and she couldn't say no.
At 12:30 we were at the Biergarten podium, probably should have gotten there a little earlier, but we saw no sign of the Winkers clan.
Now, this is easy to do when you have no idea what a Winkers clan looks like.
But we thought we'd be able to figure it out, so we just hung around a bit, then checked in and hung around a bit more.
After about 15 minutes, Diane thought maybe they can tell us at the podium if they are already here.
DOH!
Never ocurred to me.
So I went up and asked it the Winkers Clan had already checked in.
"Is Clan with a "C" or a "K"?"
"A "C", I believe."
"Oh yes, here it is, "Winkers Clan", they were probably seated about 20 minutes ago."
Crap. We asked if we could be put at their table but nooooo, you snooze, you lose. But she did seat us nearby.
Now, the rest of this story, even though the whole thing is written in first person perspective, is now going to be REALLY first person perspective.
Meaning, some of it may not be entirely accurate, but it's from what I could see, which was mostly non-existant.
As we were led to the table, I knew I was dead meat. After being in the sun, I couldn't see a durn thing in there. I was lucky to grab a hold of one of Smidgy's belt loops with my finger and just lugged along behind her. Once seated I let out a big "whew", safe!
There was an older couple sitting acroos from us, and as we were taking off our jackets the woman said how nice it was to share a table with with strangers, what a great way to meet new friends, hear new thoughts, yada, yada, yada.
Great.
We introduced ourselves, and that was about the last time we spoke to this wonderful, friendly, affectionate couple for the rest of the meal.
I think Cherie recognized us and started waving. Diane saw her and told me "There they are" and got up to say hi.
"Aren't you coming?"
"You didn't leave me a belt loop."
I followed her to their table, and we kinda met then.
Kinda for me, all I saw was ghostly apparitions, shadows. Coulda been Moanin Myrtle, the Baron and Nearly Headless Nick for all I could tell.
Without faces, names go in one ear and out the other for me. I think the names I got out of the Winkers Clan at that time were, Cherie, D-Jay, her husband, Evan, Ethan, Bailey, MIL, Doc, Sneezy and James the Younger.
Since Cherie does all the talking and trip report writing, MIL is D-Jay's mom.
And even from reading her report, I think MIL is her real name. Must be short for Millie.
Then it was time for me to have to actually obtain some food, and I was starving! At least the serving table were well lit, I grabbed an a few things to begin with, a bowl of potatoe leek soup was one of them. As I was trying to figure out what exactly is what, a young guy was behind me, talking to me and really being helpful about naming the mystery items and telling me what's good or not.
What I didn't know at the time was that this was someone I had just met but couldn't see, Evan I believe.
Or Nearly Headless Nick. Then I was done and had to find the table again.
And I lost Diane.
"Has anybody seen a belt loop around here?"
Now, how to get this back to the table without spilling with all the stupid stairs and steps they had to incorporate in the interior design.
I made it, again with a sigh of relief and after trying to butter my bread with a dumpling, I gave up and went to work on my soup.
And it didn't work.
Even though I couldn't see it, I could tell by the weight that I wasn't getting anything in my spoon. I'd scoop it up, but it was like it was just falling right off.
No wonder they call it leak soup!
Finally, I felt with my other hand to see if I've got it right side up.
Oh, I did, that wasn't the problem.
Problem was I was using a fork!
After initially ignoring our new table friends to go and say hi to the "Strange people" at the other table, I think it was right about this time that our new "table friends" gave up on us.
Or at least, me, after watching me try to eat soup and butter my bread with a dumpling.
I'm sorry, they made the butter pats in the same shape as little balls, just like the dumplings!
In the meantime, Diane is still waiting to hear from our friends that we rented the points from, to see if there are any other openings, anywhere that we can rent points for, and she actually has her cell phone with her.
One more trip up to the food and back, and our new bestest of table friends tried one more time to get to know us.
Then the Winkers Clan stopped by on there way out.
As we were all talking, I finally could see some of them, that was nice being able to put heads on headless people.
Then Diane's cell phone rang.
Our new bestest of table friends from wherever got up and left.
Smidgy went and took the call, then came back. Now, everyone is kind of talking at once, mostly from behind me, and I just kept on eating. :happytv:
I heard Diane say how she fell and hurt her hand, and then I heard this:
"OH, and Nebo stubbed his toe."
Huh?
What did I hear?
Stubbed his toe?
STUBBED HIS TOE!!!!?
I was aghast, agape and agog.
Also, astonished, amazed and appalled!
Saying I "just stubbed my toe" was like saying Marie Antoinette had a sore neck!
I felt like taking off my shoe and sock and throwing my foot on the table but thought better of it since it would have probably fallen in the fake butter.
As I was inwardly seething and trying to figure out how to set the record straight, I heard, "Steve?" "Nebo?" "Yoo hoo".
Apparently they were trying to get my attention for some pictures, but I was in my own little world of planning a verbal revenge against my wife.
I only got one picture of them before they left. Meet Cherie and D-Jay:
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/DjayandCherie.jpg
Either Winkers had told her MIL about my foot trouble before, or she saw the look on my face when Diane said the "stub my toe" line, but Millie asked me how my foot is holding up. I told her not too bad with the help of painkillers.
"Yeah? My whole body hurts after all they have put me through. What'ya got?"
"Vikes".
"Need some?"
"Not yet, I'll let you know."
I told her fine, if it get's too bad give us a call and we can meet by the corn dog stand at the Boardwalk.
See what a great guy I am?
Cherie and D-Jay have a great family, wish we didn't have 2500 miles separating us. Once again, I, we, have met people on the Dis that we are proud to be able to call friends. :grouphug:
By the way, the Biergarten is one of the cheaper sit down meals you can get at DisneyWorld. It is also worth every penny of it. There is entertainment in the form of weird horns and jug blowing and xylophones and children participating down in the middle of the floor, I just didn't have much time to see much of it this time.
Coming up:
Spending quality time with a clown. :scared:

Chelly, I wish you came with subtitle, cuz I have looked this over till I am blue in the eyeballs and I don't get it. Yeah, maybe my date is wrong, don't have a calender here that goes back that far, but in any event, have a nice time at the Beach Club. Oh, and make a point of doing Jellyrolls, that's something that if we don't do next time down there, I will be thrown to the ducks and seagulls at Pop Century, or so I've been told.

I'm glad you and Smidgy were able to meet up with the Winkers clan - by all accounts, they're truly "good people" :goodvibes

I saw something on TV the other night about certain restaurants around the world now having "dark dinners" where you are in complete darkness and have no idea what you are being served! Most people ended up eating with their hands.

. Now I'm forgetting how to speak English.
THAT'S OK, WE WILL FIGURE IT OUT LIKE WE ALWAYS DO
And on arriving at the Land pavilion, the first thing I did was find a drinking fountain and drop 3 in my mouth.
THIS IS PROBABLY A TYPO, I THINK YOU MEANTT 13
The last time we were here, I had such a hard time feeling my way down, almost fell 3 times, that the woman behind me finally yelled out, "Oh please, sir, just sit anywhere, I can't take it anymore watching you!"
I SAID THAT OUTLOUD?????
I made it, again with a sigh of relief and after trying to butter my bread with a dumpling, I gave up and went to work on my soup.
And it didn't work.
Even though I couldn't see it, I could tell by the weight that I wasn't getting anything in my spoon. I'd scoop it up, but it was like it was just falling right off.
No wonder they call it leak soup!
Finally, I felt with my other hand to see if I've got it right side up.
Oh, I did, that wasn't the problem.
Problem was I was using a fork!
YES, 13 VIKES WOULD DO THIS TO A PERSON. AND HE BLAMES IT ON THE LIGHTING.
ARE YOU SURE YOU WERE HALUCINATING AND IMAGINED THE JUG BLOWING, WEIRD HORNS, AND XYLOPHONES?

I think the name of it is G.I. Joe.
Wonder what they'll call the sequel; Lower G.I. Joe?
The story you are about to read is true, only the names have been changed to protect the idiots.
The last time we were here, I had such a hard time feeling my way down,
"Oh yes, here it is, "Winkers Clan", they were probably seated about 20 minutes ago."
warning this post is under the influence of heavy painkillers.............I decided to see just how bad your foot must feel!
Lower G.I. Joe?!:lmao:
I am not an idiot!:snooty:
just intellectually challenged at times.
feeling yourself down as opposed to up?;)
when we checked in at the biergarten we were told that they couldn't fit another group at our table with us. :confused3
I had kept my eyes peeled half the day tring to spot nebo &smidgey Our kids wanted to know what you looked like so they could be in on things too......... I said "just look for Mr. Clean with a pretty brunette"
none of them knew who Mr. Clean is....again, my wittiness wasted on the young.
Then our hostess sat us at a table with 3 other people...what the heck??
I was realy excited when I spoted them just below us.
We loved getting to meet you guys! You were just as fun, witty and kind in person....I just wish the dumkopf who sat us knew what they were talking about.
And now we bring to you "German lessons with winkers" dumkopf....dumb head.
the picture taking was hillarious!
by the way, it looks like we could play "count the chins" on that picture you posted.

Could have called it Up your G.I., Joe. :confused3
The story you are about to read is true, only the names have been changed to protect the idiots.
Hey!!!! You didn't change my na... Oh. never mind.
I just may have gotten a bit smarter here; I first went into Photobucket and pulled out the pics I needed and posted them first, now all I have to do is fit the story around them, that way I won't be surprised after 3 hours of working on the chapter only to find it lock up on me. So far, so good.
Watch out world, Nebo is learning to be technical. The computing world will never be the same again!!!!:surfweb:
After that we then went and saw the movie in the "Staircase of Death" theatre.
It used to be called the Circle of Life theatre, that is until the last time I was there.
Ethan and I went there 2 years ago because he didn't like 'Soarin (appostrophe trademarked)..... NEEBS, NOW YA GOT ME DOIN' IT TOO.... anywho. Ethan didn't like the hang gliding movie thingy so we went to see Circular of Life. We thought it was actually kinda cute.
We then rode the stupid Imagination ride again to kill some time, then headed over to the Showcase, just taking our time. To be honest, taking our time was about the only speed I had in me today, yeah, T o T was pretty much "Pedal to the Medal" for me.
NEVER mention that ride to my kids. They all immediately and in unison start singing the imagination song. Imagination happens to be one of their favorite rides.
We have a 12:30 appointment at the Biergarten for lunch, we are both looking forward to it cuz we get to meet some people that have been regulars on the trip report circuit since we joined. Funny how you can feel like you are old friends with someone you've know for a few years and never actually met them in person.
So, ya can't see in the light as well as in the dark huh?
"Oh yes, here it is, "Winkers Clan", they were probably seated about 20 minutes ago."
Crap. We asked if we could be put at their table but nooooo, you snooze, you lose. But she did seat us nearby.
Now, the rest of this story, even though the whole thing is written in first person perspective, is now going to be REALLY first person perspective.
Meaning, some of it may not be entirely accurate, but it's from what I could see, which was mostly non-existant.
We were hoping to save seats for you, but they wouldn't let us. The party of three that was with us wouldn't look kindly at us if we stated those seats were reserved for you and smig.
I think Cherie recognized us and started waving. Diane saw her and told me "There they are" and got up to say hi.
"Aren't you coming?"
It looked funny having Cherie wave right in front of the poor person sitting next to her as that person takes a bite of food. I think that person wanted to jab her with her fork.
Without faces, names go in one ear and out the other for me. I think the names I got out of the Winkers Clan at that time were, Cherie, D-Jay, her husband, Evan, Ethan, Bailey, MIL, Doc, Sneezy and James the Younger.
You got all of us except Hunter. I think he's classified as Bashful.
Headless or not, leave it to Evan to help an elderly man with his food. When he came back he said, "Dad, I helped a blind person read the labels of the food." Good kid huh?
I made it, again with a sigh of relief and after trying to butter my bread with a dumpling, I gave up and went to work on my soup.
And it didn't work.
Even though I couldn't see it, I could tell by the weight that I wasn't getting anything in my spoon. I'd scoop it up, but it was like it was just falling right off.
No wonder they call it leak soup!
Finally, I felt with my other hand to see if I've got it right side up.
Oh, I did, that wasn't the problem.
Problem was I was using a fork!
Leaky soup. You must try drinking the water-in-a-collander technique. Eventually you get enough nourishment to wish you shouldn't have even attempted such a feat.
Then the Winkers Clan stopped by on there way out.
As we were all talking, I finally could see some of them, that was nice being able to put heads on headless people.
Although using Harry Potter characters really does describe my kids best.
Just before this point, the band started playing. All I could hear is murmuring voices and occasionally recognize my name.
As I was inwardly seething and trying to figure out how to set the record straight, I heard, "Steve?" "Nebo?" "Yoo hoo".
Apparently they were trying to get my attention for some pictures, but I was in my own little world of planning a verbal revenge against my wife.
Cherie and Smig kept murmuring in quiet voices..... OK they were almost yelling at each other when someone mentioned the word pictures. OK. That's my cue. Camera out, turned on, ready, film loaded ( just kidding. We have a digital camera. No film), I am ready.
Waiting for Nebo. His head is down "looking" at the food on the table and rearranging it. Ok, keep watching. Cherie and Smig keep on smiling... only a few more seconds.... wait for it...... wait for it....... we didn't wait. Smig yelled, you put your head up, I took the pictures (ended up with some good ones) and then let you play with your food again
"Yeah? My whole body hurts after all they have put me through. What'ya got?"
"Vikes".
"Need some?"
"Not yet, I'll let you know."
I told her fine, if it get's too bad give us a call and we can meet by the corn dog stand at the Boardwalk.
I dunno, she might have taken some had you truly offered.
Cherie and D-Jay have a great family, wish we didn't have 2500 miles separating us. Once again, I, we, have met people on the Dis that we are proud to be able to call friends. :grouphug:
Don't tell too many people. It'll make our heads swell so big we won't be able to leave the resort.
I really enjoyed the time we spent. It felt like greeting friends we haven't seen in a while.
Hi all.
I'm sitting here drinking a glass of wine because Smidgy said I have to.
She said she bought it for me so you better drink it! I guess last week was a good year for "wine in a box".
On top of that, my whole upper mouth is numb from having a cavity worked on, so if I sound funny, that's why.
Now, remember not too long ago I mentioned something was up that I didn't want to talk about till I got an answer?
Well, I got an answer.
I have managed to pull off the impossible and on the first try, without any appeals, I have been declared officially disabled. And not because of my foot, but from my "visual field". Or lack there of. The last few months have been spent seeing many doctors and specialists that Social Security has sent me to see, but it's the eye thing that wowed them.
I'm still waiting for the secondary notice that clears the non-medical requirements and should give me monthly dollar amounts, but it's a huge relief to not have to worry about losing the house.
I don't have glaucoma or macular degeneration, which is a huge relief in itself, but I do have a shrinking retina in both eyes due to extreme myopia, the shape of my eyes and from scar tissue building up from previous retinal detatchments.
Wanna guess what's coming next?
You got it!
Time to celebrate!
Damn DIsney!
Starting on Aug. 22, 4 nights at CBR, water view, for 114 a night, then 8 nights at Pop on the free dining plan. And at CBR no park tickets, just relax, relax, and probably go back to Vista del Lago and look at some more homes, and hopefully this time remember to take some pictures!
This is a very strange feeling here right now, in a way I'm technically retired, my mind can't grasp that issue yet, I've worked full time ever since high school. But at least now when we get a chance to move down there we will at least have some income coming in. And there you have it.
Yay! You get some pool time after your big adventure eating!
Yeah Marie, it was so much nicer to be able to sit by a pool without being able to walk across it.
I was gonna make a joke about that, but DH keeps telling me how "tense" I am tonight and that I look like I'm about to spin out of control so I don't want to take the chance of it coming off as mean instead of funny....

I didn't blow right by it, I just ran out of keystrokes near the end of the last chapter. Yes, the phone call was from our DVC friend, who evidently didn't listen to her entire voice message and called to see what we wanted, so we had to start out from scratch again with her. She said she'd look into any availability, since Disney won't allow us to do so.
Nice job of target shooting Monica on my last chapter, you didn't let me down. You have to admit, I set all those targets up for you. I can't wait to get to D-Jay's post.

Janet, I didn't hate UP, but wasn't crazy about it either. Honestly, I have been disappointed in the last few Pixar movies. Even before Up, Wall-E didn't do a thing for me, I won't even buy it. Same for Ratatoulie. Before that, Cars was just ok, I did like the Incredibles a lot though. So, in my mind, Pixar has gone steadily pretty much downhill since Nemo.
And yep, you hit it right on the head with the Hawkeye Pierce. I have probably ripped that sequence off in my trips reports 3 or 4 times in the last 3 years, but just change the key word to whatever typo I have made, and fill in whatever pops in my head. By the way, the "Drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life" line is an actual country song.
No, still haven't gotten to D-Jays post, tomorrow.

This is crazy, it's FREEZING up here, in the middle of JULY! Really, not far from turning the heat back on! I'm beginning to think there really might be something to this "global freezing" thing.
Smidgy got me good the other day. As I was making a manhattan, I finished off one of those big 1.75 liter bottles of Black Velvet whiskey. Since she was in the room at the time, I sarcastically said out loud, "Well, looks like we have another dead soldier on our hands."
She glanced at the empty bottle and replied, "No, looks to me like you just wiped out an entire regiment!"
Thanks to all of you and your well wishes. Really appreciated. Yes, it does seem strange to "celebrate" being officially classified as disabled, but not being approved wouldn't change the physical defects, so this is the best of a not so best situation.
Could have called it Up your G.I., Joe. :confused3
From what I saw of the previews, I think a better movie would include a threesome with Barbie and a jealous Ken.
Hey!!!! You didn't change my na... Oh. never mind.
Haven't I changed your name enough times in this report J-D?

I like the movie too, better then the France movie for sure.

I have seen some others say they like it also, I think Tiggerbell is one of them. But she also likes Sounds Dangerous, so you throw out that opinion too.
So, ya can't see in the light as well as in the dark huh?
Reminds me of a long time ago at the marina after drinking way too much Millers' one night, and stumbling around singing, "Blinded by the Lite."
It looked funny having Cherie wave right in front of the poor person sitting next to her as that person takes a bite of food. I think that person wanted to jab her with her fork.
That's why they invented foons.
You got all of us except Hunter. I think he's classified as Bashful.
I knew I was missing one, that's where James the Younger came in.
Headless or not, leave it to Evan to help an elderly man with his food. When he came back he said, "Dad, I helped a blind person read the labels of the food." Good kid huh?
Yes, very good kid. Looks like you and Cherie did a great job in the raising department.
Leaky soup. You must try drinking the water-in-a-collander technique. Eventually you get enough nourishment to wish you shouldn't have even attempted such a feat.
Before I knew what a collender was for I always just called it a "trick dribble bowl."
Although using Harry Potter characters really does describe my kids best.
That reminds me, I forgot all about calling Diane Dobby, I did that a lot two reports ago I think.
Like I said, I was planning on getting even with Diane. Dobby still needs to be punished.
I dunno, she might have taken some had you truly offered.
I got that feeling too, just didn't have any more with me.
I really enjoyed the time we spent. It felt like greeting friends we haven't seen in a while.
Yeah, sitting at the Hoop de Doo would have been a blast!
hmm never been to the western side of the state huh? I live in WI but I own a coffeehouse in Galena IL which is 20 minutes away. You can be in 3 states within a 15 minute of each other.:cool2:
I honestly don't believe I have ever been to Galena, probably cuz it's not on the way to Florida. We have been to the brewery in La Crosse though, came close to getting "Blinded by the Old Style."
Congrats on your retirment/disability.............I'm not sure if congratulations is traditionaly a sentement associated with dissability.:confused3
I have several family members who have gone through the pain in the rear that is getting qualified for disability, so I know how amazing it is you got it on the first try!:banana:
Money "issues" stink because it can take over your life worring about it. I'm glad you two can relax a little now.
disneyworld is the perfect way to celebrate!
Thank you, now I don't feel guilty. I have a friend in constant pain and two major back surgeries, and he has been denied twice, hoping the third time is the charm and it's already been over two years. And I didn't apply until last March.
AWESOME news, Nebo! I'm very happy for you and Smidgy!
I will do that, just for you, in September and report back :lmao:
She's talking about checking out the dumplings verses the butter. Just remember Lisa, leave the sunglasses on to simulate the same effect I get.
thank you all for your support. I just want to tell all you "nebofans" that Steve is the biggest "work ethic" person I have ever met. has been a wonderful provider for many years. (has worked 2 jobs so I could stay home with the kids when they were little.) has never looked for a "handout". Has always been the "man" , providing for his family.. and now was "man" enough to apply .. and was accepted! I am very proud of him:hug:, he deserves this.
and so now.. We must do the dance of JOY!!:dance3::cheer2:!!!
Oh NO! Anything but the dance of joy! Thanks, wife.
I mean Dobby.
What wonderful news!!! smidge, you're a lucky lady to have a man who's strong enough to take care of his family AND strong enough to realize when he needs help. There's not much better than that.
Enjoy your August adventure!
Shannn, do I know you? You mean it took a disability chapter to get you out of lurkdom? Geesh! Cominig up, Nebo talks about his appendectomy!
Actually, thank you. I think this August will be the best trip ever!
I agree too. And Smidgy, hugs to you as well. I, too, love a hardworking man with a disability. It's a challenge to both, and for the slightly twisted (by which I mean myself, of course), an occasional source of mirth.;)
Yep. That's me, one of the three wise men. The other guys brought gold and frankensence, I was the one that brought mirth.
There was a time when I was much younger, that I was extremely sensitive to all the bad eye jokes and hearing jokes and being made fun of. Now I freak everybody out and beat them to the punch. For one thing it then knocks out any superiority thing they might have been trying to establish, and shows them that on the inside I'm a whole lot tougher than they knew. As most of you all know, from the very first trip report to the last chapter I have no problem making light of all my ailments and problems, from, "The Incredible Amazing Weather Foot", to falling down stairs and eating soup with a spoon.
By the way, I'm also hoping to be able soon to get some decent hearing aids. Don't want to leave that out either. At least then I'd be able to turn Smidgy off when needed.
Oh shoot. I forgot.
She comes with closed captioning.
Doing the dance of JOY with you: :dance3: :cheer2: !!!
Again with the dance of joy.
And I saw that edit, Marita!

I say taking me... but it will be a cut out on a popsicle stick... lol I guess that is as close as I can get... She said she would take pictures, I have made a few special requests.... we will see if it turns out like I want it to...

:wizard: The 4 days at the CBR!! If you need any ideas on how to fill the time - just let us know!! ;);)
I couldnt agree with you more - I think God is messing with the air conditioning up here - not that I'm complaining! It is keeping me from using the a/c mind you!!
There are lots of great options in the hearing aid department - just good luck in finding a good audiologist that doesnt want to steer you to the most expensive - they can be rude about that!! Phonak makes some great aides - so DS tells me! Good luck on that journey! Hope your eyes continue to see the world humoursly (did I make that word up? I just like the way you see things!!)
Have you followed Delswife's adventures btw? (they moved to Florida, and have just now moved back to Maine - they are renovating a 'home' to live in - they missed the cold - go figure -eh?!!)

[QUOTE=nebo;32778914]This is crazy, it's FREEZING up here, in the middle of JULY! Really, not far from turning the heat back on! I'm beginning to think there really might be something to this "global freezing" thing.
I honestly don't believe I have ever been to Galena, probably cuz it's not on the way to Florida. We have been to the brewery in La Crosse though, came close to getting "Blinded by the Old Style."
.
yes it was crazy cold here this weekend :cold: record low 48 sun night. We do have several breweries around here & several wineries too. So how about a "drunk in Galena road trip report?"
congrats on everything working out for you. Can't wait to hear about Aug trip.

:headache: I am going to miss you by 4 stinking days:sad2:
Janet, I didn't hate UP, but wasn't crazy about it either. Honestly, I have been disappointed in the last few Pixar movies. Even before Up, Wall-E didn't do a thing for me, I won't even buy it. Same for Ratatoulie. Before that, Cars was just ok, I did like the Incredibles a lot though. So, in my mind, Pixar has gone steadily pretty much downhill since Nemo.
We like Cars and the Incredibles. Jimmy was Mr. Incredible for Halloween one year. Wall-E, Ratatouille, meh...

Hi Nebo,
So glad to hear you are doing well. We have had a busy summer and work has been brutal. I guess I shouldn't complain but man I need a vacation. Speaking of which, the wife and I are headed on a Caribbean cruise this weekend. We were going to do Disney but I felt guilty going without the kids. This is strictly a Mom and Dad vacation :woohoo:

Great news about the disability rating! You're absolutely right that the physical problems won't go away if you don't get rated "disabled"
So did you book the Pirate room or not? 4 days without parks sounds wonderful! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful and I hope you find your house while you're there :goodvibes
Now, any chance you may finish this trip report before you leave for the next trip????
We got home last night from our trip, 5 nights at BCV followed by 3 nights on the Wonder. We're exhausted but it was great! Never made it to Jellyrolls, but we did manage to drink an awful lot :thumbsup2

I guess we're "just missing" quite a few people. the thing is, we avaoide the free dining time we like best... Sept.....cause both our grandkids birthdays are in sept. (how inconsiderate of our kids to not check our disney schedules when planning their kids!:rotfl:) we first booked this is oct. (even though we thought we wouldn't be going, anyway), catch the food and wine festival, but oct. is regular season, end of august was cheaper.
I hope the crowds aren't too bad.. OI know scholl doesn't start yet for a lot of people, but we read end of August wasn't too bad.
when trying to explain disney resorts to our non-disney friends, I have often said that you could spend a whole week at a resort and not even go to the parks. well, now we will have a few days at Carribean to do just that! (yes, we still have some plans... you think Nebo could NOT plan? vista del lago, as he said, plus a ressie at T-rex (love it), and Nebo owes me a visit to Jelly rolls (from the Feb. trip when we were RIGHT there(at boardwalk), and didn't go:confused3. oh, we are thinking they might let us use our mini-golf voucher a few days erarly, since we we be staying on disney property.... hye! what happened to "relaxing"?

Wow am I behind, it's my busy season and between that and the trip to Connecticut I took to see my family. I have sorely neglected the DIS boards.
It's nice to see that the disability worked out and things are heading in the right direction for you. :)
Well Jinxy, we are in Carpentersville, as you know, just north of Elgin, what are you doing down in Georgia?
Well it's sorta a long story. I'm a huge Disney fan, but I'm also a HUGE sci-fi fan. To the point that my business is pretty much based on sci-fi fandom. I got to a lot of cons around the country and happened to hit Dragon Con one year. Met this really good looking guy out in front of my hotel while I was trying to smoke. He found out I was from Chicago and took me out for the best Chicago style pizza I've had since I left home. Four months later I had sold my condo and moved to Atlanta, we got engaged not even a year later, and married a year from then. 4 weeks after the wedding we went to Disney for our honeymoon.

I'm glad you qualified for DISability, I know lots of people that try and get turned down, buy I'm sad, that you have eye problems.
I can't believe you guys are going down in August,
believe me, the weather will totally make up for the time you guys froze your donkey butts off in January. I don't want to hear one ounce of complaining either. I'm just going to advise you to bring lots of extra underwear, because as my boys say, "man it was hot today", and "I got swamp butt." I usually answer by saying, "thanks for sharing".

No, I havent been able to keep up with Delswife, and I always get discouraged when I hear of folks moving down there and then moving back up. I know it can get hot, but how can you miss not scraping car windows in the morning? And if only we could get the rest of the family to move down too.

I can do without the window scraping thank you very much! and this cool summer better not be a prelude to the coldest winter coming up!!
as for hearing aids - my DS has had to wear hearing aids for 21 years! We've been thru a lot - young'uns dont take care of their stuff! Please make sure you get insurance! and I'm not kidding about audiologists! Some are pushy about one brand - so they dont give you much choice - and you should be able to get a trial too! Just go with your gut feeling, if you dont like the audiologist, then tell them you're getting a 2nd opinion - if they get snarky - run, to another audiologist!!

as for hearing aids - my DS has had to wear hearing aids for 21 years!
Thanks Sandy, yeah, I know it can be tough to find out who to trust. The last time I looked into it he tried to sell me two tomato soup cans with a string for a thousand bucks. Luckily, I was allergic to tomatoes.

Marita, congratulations! And I truly mean this. This makes all the sense in the world to me that you are finally getting a Disney vacation, in California, even though you and your hubby have never had one down the street, well, since the Nautilus was a concept sub. Really, that's great, Sandy is right, you need to do a trip report! (cmon, it'll be fun, I'll help you ghost write it!).
"Disney uber allus, uber,,,,,,,ach du lieber, "Husband, schnell! I have just spilled my Reisling glass on the carpet, and you know it is verboten! Bring cloths and tapestries to soak it up!"
Hi, my name is Marita, and we are going to have fun, weather you like it or not!

Hi Wendy! Nice to almost see you. Doing another drive by I see. :yay:
Ahem, apparently the free dining along with the economy has really put a hurting on ol Uni down the street, so tinker I must.
We have now subtracted a CBR day and added 3 nights at Royal Pacific, checking in on the 20th. I have been warned that THIS HAD BETTER BE IT!
THis is now shaping up to be probably the biggest trip of our lives, hopefully the best too. By all rights, I should be able to just start the Santa Fe and let it take us there, this will be the ninth time to Florida for it.
Anyway.......
After lunch with the Winkers, I was still seething a bit from Smidgy's " Stubbed his toe" line. As we exited Germany, I was all for running to catch up to the Winkers clan and ripping off my shoe and showing them what "just a stubbed toe " looks like, but I couldn't see them and we wanted to get back to the pool.
It was not until we were back later in the day that some karma came back to Diane, she realized she had forgotten her jacket in the Biergarten. While I changed she spent the next half hour trying any number that employees thought would help trying to track down the forgotten wrap, to no avail.
Then, realizing that we probably were'nt going to get help for a DVC room from our friend, I tried the DIsney rezzie line again, also to no avail.
Unless I wanted a water view at Grand Floridian for 480 a night!
"Does that come with a mint on the pillow for both of us?"
"NO? Well forget it then, I don't want it!"
It had warmed up to the upper seventies by now, and we got lucky finding a couple of lawn chairs in between the clown and the hot tub.
There were about 5 people in the hot tub, all talking and I just slipped in opposite them, wondering why there weren't any bubble action going on.
Suddenly Diane leaned over behind me and told me she had to go back to the room and get something, and Oh, should I press the button on the post to start it up on my way past? I told her sure.
This was almost a re-enactment of the time we were in St. Augustine, and with a tub full of people Smidgy waited until the moment I got in the tub with a bunch of other strangers that she pressed the button to start it up. Ha ha, a lot of laughs at my expense.
This time when it started, it was like a miracle, nobody had seen such a thing!
"Whoa, wow, WHAT is happening?" And they looked up and seemed to see me for the first time. The line was just sitting there, I knew for sure the laughs were about to come.
"OH, sorry." Spoken in my best Pumba voice.
ANd they just looked at me.
Then one by one got out of the tub.
Geesh!
Diane came back, and we lied there building up a good sweat before we went in the pool, I wanted to try the slide again. When I told her I was going for it, she suddenly said "Hold on, they are saying something."
I couldn't hear what was said, but Diane did. Apparently, this is what is known as a "code brown", meaning the pool has inexplicably become contaminated. From what I saw, you couldn't have gotten the people to move faster if you had yelled "Shark!"
It looked like the Normandy invasion with folks trying to get out of the water. I can't blame them, If I had heard the message half way down the slide I probably would have gone over the side!
Then I DID get to hear a conversation that I rather wished I hadn't. It was of the type that really gets my blood boiling, well, ok, at least ticks me off.
Evidently, the code brown perpetrator was identified, and it was a 3 year old in a soaked, hanging diaper. Yes, just diaper, not the special ones made for pools. And a cast member was telling the mother that they have to wear special training diapers that prevent this. Ok, so far, makes sense.
Uh uh, good ol mom was indignant. "What's the big deal? SO WHAT? One ittle poopie and everybody gets all upset! "
And then the line that really gets to me; "I THOUGHT DISNEY WAS FOR KIDS!"
Had to bite my tongue, and Diane's too.
Sorry, Disney is for everybody, especially folks that pay a fortune to be there, so don't even try to give me that "Disney is just for kids" line. A simple precaution is all that it would have taken to prevent the pool from having to shut down for the next 45 minutes, and I'm sorry, with most people's Disney schedules, 45 minutes can be a long time!
In the past I have tried to bend over backwards for helping kids out, kids not my own. Given up prime fireworks viewing spots, given free fastpasses, let kids go in front of me in line, given up seats on the bus, and so on. Even once held a strangers kid on my shoulders to watch Illuminations. That's fine.
Once at Magic Kingdom there was this old guy hobbling down the street, leaning on his companion for support as he was obviously in extreme pain, and they took up a viewing location behind the ropes with a half hour to go until Spectro came by. With only five minutes to go, a huge family came along the path, about 8 of them and only two kids, and just ducked under the rope and tried to force me back. After Diane and I and a couple other folks let out a big "HEY!" a woman said, "They're just kids, they need to be in front."
I said "Fine, kids stay, you go!"
She tried to argue with Smidgy, uh uh, that's not gonna work, and I saw a guy looking a little sheepish about the whole thing and I pushed the point, "Ready when you are".
I'm sure the woman's face was burning red, but they ducked back out and moved on, the people around us just did a soft clap.
That's another thing that can frost me, when parents use there kids as a "disabled" kind of access to what ever they want.
Ok, I'm done.
No, I didn't go and inspect the pool, I don't need to see it to believe it.
Didn't need to see Bill Murray do his Caddyshack impression and dive in and pull up a snickers bar. But funny that I've never seen this happen at a value resort before.
I put it out of my mind and just lay back in the chair, we thought about going to the quiet pool but we were all settled in now.
Evidently the excitement wasn't over.
As I lay there, just staring into space, Diane lay next to me, staring at the inside of her eyelids.
I had my glasses off, but thought I saw something way up in the sky, nothing to pay attention to though. Guess Smidgy should have.
She sat bolt upright, shocked look on her face, followed by a giant EWWWW!"
I threw on my glasses, looked up and could see a squadron of birds, not sure what kind, flying in the V formation disappearing in the distance.
This was not a single bomb drop, but more of a strafing run. If they had started a half second earlier it would have gotten me too.
She had a big splotch on the back of her hand, on her thigh, in between her legs on the lounger, on the magazine in between chairs by the next woman, and on her chair also. But only Smidgy took a direct hit.
I said the only thing I could think of as Smidgy and the other woman were jumping about, yelling.
"Wow!"
Of course I thought it was pretty funny, and using a towel and the poolside shower she cleaned up herself and the chair.
I tried to offer support;
"Could be worse, you know what they say about "A turd in the hand is worth two..."
"I GET IT!"
"Want me to get the pool cleanup crew over here too?" "Not sure they are equipped to handle to code browns in one hour though. "
Then when all was back to normal, I looked at the sky and softly said:
"Ha, nice job, stubbed my toe indeed!"

Intermission
Something that just struck me as cute, even though I wasn't there.
Son Todd stopped in where Diane works the other night with grandson Jackson. They have done this a few times before and Diane loves it when they do. Luckily they were slow at the time and she got their order and placed it, then came back and sat down and talked with them.
And Jackson kept looking at her more and more with a big question mark on his face. Finally, she asked what's wrong.
"Aren't you going to go and start making my dinner?"
yeah, I dunno, just strikes me funny, all the time he thinks she then goes in the kitchen and makes all the orders she takes.
--------------------------------------
In the room she is back on the phone trying to track down her jacket. She did get a hold of our friend about the DVC room, yes, they have plenty of points to spare, but so far nothing available on such short notice.
Yep, I knew it. It's Presidents week coming up.
The jacket search went into the next day, finally she was told to go to the TTC on thursday, go directly to lost and found and don't pass go, and they will have it there.
Maybe.
But it's still Monday night, and after a couple of cocktails and a Sunny D for the road we went back to Epcot. We really didn't do much, the foot wasn't up for more walking than was absolutely necessary and the furthest we made it was to do Test Track at night. If you haven't done it at night before it's pretty cool, better then the day version.
Then we just headed back into Showcase by Mexico and wandered in and out of pavillions all the way to the Gateway, where we planned on watching Illuminations.
Lately I've been trying to get a better appreciation for all the smaller things that most people don't take time to notice, especially in World Showcase.
Standing in front of Mexico, gazing at the pyramid Diane broke the silence and said, "It's Mayan, you know."
I responded with, "Well, nice of you to let them use it. "
Ok, that didn't really take place, just checking to see if your paying attention.
The evening ended on a little bit of a downer to me, by the time we got to the gateway bridge it was packed, we ended up standing in the middle with a bunch of teenagers that were just there to make noise, not watch the show.
Tuesday, the days are just flying by now. The weather has improved, we really want just two more days in the trip, but nothing we can do about it. She even suggested we go back to the Knight's Inn in Kissimmee and just hang around the pool for a couple days, but I just couldn't do that. That would be like walking the green mile all over again after check out.
One thing we have never done, and one that we planned on doing this trip was to take the walkway by the Swan over to DHS.
Well, we still haven't done that!
We spent the morning by the pool, got to by upchucked by the clown again into what I hoped was bright, clear, DISINFECTED waters.
Every once in a while, I'd jerk my head up to the sky, just to make Smidgy nervous.
Great fun!
About two we headed over to the ferry to DHS. And I came face to face with another idiot. Yes, I should have known better, but I had to ask what the next stop on the route was going to be.
"Excuse me, can you tell me...."
"Welcome to the Crescent Lake ferry, serving Disney Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk Inn and Villas, Disney''s Swan and Dolphin, the Yacht and Beach Club, and, um,,,,ummm,,,,,,"
"Epcot?"
"OH, yeah, that's it. Snort. "
The closer I looked, it looked like it could be the first guy I talked to here, his older brother. So I bypassed him, didn't say a word and just went up to the boat and asked the captain; "Dolphin next, then DHS?"
"Yep."
Geesh, it's that easy!
We got there a little later then we hoped to, I really wanted to do Toy Story again, but not enough to leave the pool early. And fastpasses were all gone, with a wait of an hour for standby. Ok, we'll give the new Block Party Bash parade a try.
I have to admit, the enthusiasm was there, but I was less then enthralled. It's not a parade by the usual definition, it would stop at the front of the park for 125 minutes, go through all there numbers there, then proceed and stop in front of Echo lake and repeat. That's pretty much it as far as the parade part goes.
Oh, tons of singing and Pixar characters, and everybody falling all over themselves trying to get the best pictures, self included.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/blockparty.jpg
Finally, after a long wait, my favorite, Boo, came around to our side of the path.
I had a clear shot, focus, click, and when the Red Sea filled in again in front of me, I glanced at the camera and saw not one, but TWO people got in the frame I thought was secure. But at least you can still see Boo in there.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/boo.jpg
The rest of the day was a not-so-funny comedy of errors. We misread the tiny print on the times guide and arrived at the INdy stunt show missing the audience selections and the entire first set. I didn't want to stay then cuz the beginning is my favorite part so we started heading over to Lights , Motors Action before we realized we just missed the beginning of that one two.
I was able to get a fastpass for TOT, and in the meantime we watched Beauty and the Beast again.
I also don't remember if they were doing a Fantasmic that night or not, but with the time you have to invest in that show, with no guarantee they won't cancel it due to weather, we have been passing it up recently.
Around 7 we left and went back to the room for cocktails. I suggested going over to the Swan for some karaoke that used to start at nine, and about 8:15 we headed over there, only to find it doesn't start until nine thirty. The place was absolutely empty, and trying to keep an eye on money as the trip is winding down, I didn't want to sit there drinking and paying Swan prices, so we went back to the room again for a while.
Apparently, as we were walking back and forth, and back, and forth, the International Harvesters in conjunction with Caterpillar and John Deere and whatever other animals you can think of convention showed up. We got back there at 9:45 and it was mobbed with yuppies everywhere. The waiting list to get up and sing was already an hour, so it was time to do the "back" thing again. Or is it "forth?"
Coming up, Wednsday, explorers day.

Yuck. Nothing worse than a code brown!
And you would get along great with my DH. We were standing in front of the Tiki room at DL when we were newlyweds, and a bird pooped on my Donald Duck sailor hat. Not just any poop, but one including a feather and a live worm! DH laughed so hard, I thought he was going to wet himself. I'm sure he found karmic justice in the whole experience, too. So, Diane, once again I feel your pain.

Coming up, Wednsday, explorers day.

as per the CM standing in front of the "friendship Boats", for the total purpose of informing guests of the "itinerary": he DIDN'T know! he actually said,"Yes it stops at the Dolphin, and I think it might stop at the Swan, too!"
(Swan and Dolphin have one dock). and the sign above the 2 lines at the dock tell you the stops... IN order.)
I know Nebo told you about the CM who didn't know about the fountains at Epcot. but did he tell you about the CM at the Boardwalk shop? after check-in, I inquired about the opening time (Nebo likes to get the paper early).. she said 8AM. me: "So late?" her: "Yes 8 AM" the next morning at 8, all the papers were gone, cause they opened at 7! Shannn, do I know you? You mean it took a disability chapter to get you out of lurkdom? Geesh! Cominig up, Nebo talks about his appendectomy!
Actually, thank you. I think this August will be the best trip ever!
Okay, so it did take disability to get me to come out of lurkdom. I think all the wittiness just intimidates me around here! I'll try to come out more often though. ;)
WOW Danielle, you got the poop with a worm AND a feather? SOunds like a Sea Gull Sundae! You must REALLY have been bad!
cool!
Wow, how did you manage to find every dumb person in the World :confused3

Ya, I forgive the "flatlander", that lives south of my state, but ya gotta give him credit for leaving that "obsessed toll loving state".
Unfortunately, haven't left yet. Your right about the tolls, too, but the reason you don't need them up there is because you get the Illinois drivers to pay for highways by giving them trumped up speeding tickets, especially in Racine County!
It is now Wednsday, February whatever, (not going to risk putting a date on it like last time), and for some reason it was my favorite day of the trip.
This is mostly going to be a pictoral chapter if the puter will let me.
The thing is, we both have a very dear spot in our heart for CBR. It was the first resort we stayed at on our first trip with the kids, and I have never, ever felt more on vacation then when we are there. The one downside, and it's a pretty big downside, was the main pool was muchly too small.
We tried it again for 4 nights back in May of '07 and everything I had just said was still in effect.
No more!
I had been dying to see the new pool since it's new refurbishment and on line pictures just wouldn't cut it. Besides, I have been suckered into "pool" shot pictures before, once stayed at a Days Inn that looked like it had just about an Olympic size pool in the picture only to find it about the size of a large hot tub.
So early that morning, being the heathens that we are we are ready to pool hop. Being all brand new Diane was worried that they might be a little bit particular about hoppers getting in, so on the way over I desperately tried to think of a good line for the guard house. No, dinner at Shutters wasn't going to cut it at nine thirty in the morning.
And I was coming up blanks.
Then, inspiration hit me and I confidently drove up to the guard.
"Hi, we want to see the new pool."
And this guy was gushing about it, as if he designed it himself. Friendly as can be, gave us resort maps, told us the best place to park, and almost called up someone to escort us through.
I dunno, mayvbe it was the Boardwalk parking permit on the dash or he really thought we just wanted to "look" at it but we drove all the way around and parked across the bridge in Aruba. I took my shorts off by the car and now with just my suit on and our book bag we headed through the grounds.
Not sure why, probably from the cold we had at Pop and I just didn't find the Boardwalk very pretty at all, but I felt like I was now in heaven.
With the digital in one hand and a cheap disposable in the other I started snapping as we walked to the bridge and then across it.

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/cbrbridge.jpg
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/cbr.jpg
To me ist is all just beautiful. Festive, inviting, and I would much rather stay here than almost any other place. Now if only the pool passes turd.
I mean mustard.
Dang code brown!
At least this time I didn't get lost on the bridge, probably because I let Smidgy lead, soon we were at the pool. First thing to notice was a fence all around it, and the pool was just huge! The surprising thing was that no one was in it, or even inside the fence. After finding the gate I pushed to no avail, locked, then I read the sign.
Opens at 10:00 am.
Had ten minutes to go so we went to a nearby table in a Des Smok Area and waited. By ten they were starting to line up, a cast member unlocked the gate and we all just walked in.
No ID checks.
No fingerprints.
No secret handshake.
Once we settled into a couple of loungers, she went and changed and I just stood there gaping.
The new pool is incredible!
Marita would be proud.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/cbrpool.jpg
It has to be twice as big now, they added another slide, still on the small side but similar to the Poly slide, mostly enclosed. After about an hour I got antsy and took a walk with the disposable to fully check it out and take more pics.
The one picture that for some reason didn't take is of the kids water playground area, and even that is very impressive. Tunnels, swings, tipping buckets and fountains, kids would just love it here.
Plus, it kind of separates the younguns from the older folk lying by the pool.
I went out for another smoke and decided that this is the best pool now in all of Disney. They even redid the hot tub, way bigger then the last one.
"Welcome to the Caribbean Beach Resort Pool, brought to you by Nebo."
Time flew and about noon we went and got some dogs from the food court, then headed back to the car. And once again I'm clicking away again with the disposable.
Took a slightly different route to the lot, and I thought these crappy disposable camera pictures came out even better.

Standing by the car, I didn't want to leave. But we still had another stop to make.
Originally we were supposed to stay at OKW, our second choice if the Boardwalk didn't open up, and that's where we headed.
We had briefly checked it out a couple of years ago, now it was time to check it out from a "staying there" point of view.
The main pool there was ok, but seemed very cramped, the only available chairs were hidden behind some bushes where kyou couldn't even see the pool.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/okwpool.jpg
Soon enough we were back in the car in search of the building we had requested, it was on the river about midway back and seemed the best compromise to the main pool and shops and the quiet pool, according to the resort map.
Wow, they talk about how big CBR and Coronado Springs is, this is way worse. After driving for blocks in what seemed like a condo development I parked thinking I was close, but we still had another block to walk.
With OKW and CBR, you would think the themes would be similar, but not even close. This is a much more private resort, balconies enclosed by trees, lots of shade, and to me, kinda glooomy. The quiet pool looked like a Motel 6 pool, and we had seen enough.
Even with the resort map, it still took us awhile to find our way back out, heck, I was wishing I had GPS.
Even had to stop a couple walking down the road and ask directions.
Well, ok, Smidgy asked. :headache:
Diane isn't as adament about it as I, but I just don't like the dedicated DVC resorts, the others that are a part of a deluxe resort I don't mind so much, WL, AK, Boardwalk, but OKW and SS I just wouldn't look forward to staying there. I was really glad that we got switched over to the Boardwalk a week before we left. The worse part is, OKW is our friends' home resort, and the easiest to book for them.
No, we didn't interlope on the OKW pool, it was just a "lookin at pool" for us this time.
Back in our studio, which is very nice by the way, cocktail hour had begun, and while Smidgy was changing I just walked around some more, even sat by the quiet pool for a few minutes just to say I did it.
THen with Sunny D's in hand we spent the night at Epcot.
Rode Mission Space, the wussy version, (sorry, the vodka was running low and I wasn't about to lose it after the spinning version), then we did Space Race, finally, they have a hard time getting folks to stop and play.
We also spent a lot of time visiting Nemo and friends, rode the ride twice without haveing to go back to the beginning, and walked all through the exhibits. Then walked all the way back around to the American Adventure, and sat and watched Ben Franklin put down Mark Twain for 25 minutes.
Then my foot threw up.
It had been sore but tolerable all day, but for some reason after sitting for a half hour watching the show, it wanted to watch the next show too.
I hobbled out of there like Quasimodo, and headed to the nearest drinking fountain, and you know why.
Cept I couldn't find one!
Since the foot was real good all day, I, was real good all day, but it's for times just like this that I was greatful I was packing.
But there was nothing to wash them down with, the Sunny D's were long gone by now. I was close to pulling a "Faulty", shaking my fist at the sky and yelling "I"VE BEEN GOOD ALL DAY AND YOU REWARD ME WITH HIDING THE BLOODY DRINKING FOUNTAIN!" As pathetic as I am, I stood there and working up saliva, and dry swallowed them.
The last one went down like an acorn. Then, slowly, we headed to the gateway,
Near Morocco, after a long smoke stop, since it was a long time since I had eaten, my little friends were kicking in already. Oh, the pain was still there, I just didn't care that much now.
And then I saw her.
A little old lady sitting in an ECV, by herself, close to the lagoon.
And it was dark!
I seriously thought about carjacking the scooter, but Diane followed my line of sight and after seeing the look on my face said, "Don't even think about it!"
"Who, me?":littleangel:
Illuminations started but we just kept going though we did pause to watch the finale once we were on the gateway, and the charge that will be coming.
And it came allright. They still beat us to the ferry, if filled, pulled away, and we ended up walking back, again.
Made it as far as ESPN, I was hungry, asked her if she was hungry, and went insided and got lucky to get a table.
We each ordered a beer, then split an order of nachos, barely finished that.
Back in the room, I planned on changing and soaking my foot in the hot tub, but it didn't happen, in twenty minutes I was out.
coming up; final chapter :cheer2:

I'm really sorry, I was hoping to get the last chapter out, but it would have been either huge, or abbreviated, and I just didn't have the time.
WHy you ask?
Be happy to esplain, Lucy.
The puter threw up, then it went into convulsions, followed by seizures.
Then it got a hangnail.
Ok, it just barely worked. It is now somewhat better after I cleaned out 56,698 old messages still sitting in Smidgy's filing cabinet.
But I just dunt have time to get in a chapter.
We are leaving supposedly at 4 in the morning, that's if they don't send another 3 tropical storms into our path.
I want you all to know that we love you very much, and probably won't get back here until 3 weeks from now. Crap, had some good stuff too for the next chapter.
By the way, I've been braking in some new shoes for this trip, first time I've bought shoes in 3 years! Honest. Hey, with my feet, it's not a fun experience.
So, yep, been braking in the new ones.

Actually, very close... I am Cindy (not Jo)!! But the rest of the equation wishes to remain anonymous. ;)
FYI: The Dwarf House is cute. The front of it looks like a little cottage, and there actually is a 3-foot-high door, just next to the regular entrance. My nephew got a kick out of scootching through there. But the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is worth arranging to stop there in the a.m.!!

Hi Nebo&Smidgy,
Miss ya, I've been out of the dis loop for awhile, lots & lots to go read..Seems I always find my way back hope all is ok. ttfn:flower3:
Hello, yes, finally back. How was the trip? Too short! Man, these 18 day trips just aren't long enough, next time gonna have to find a way to stretch it out. :rotfl:
Because I am OCD, I still want to finish this trip report, only have a chapter left, two tops, then I'd like to go into just a highlight reel of our recent trip if you don't mind.
I also was considering starting a new thread just on observations we have made this trip concerning Disney, the economy and Disney cutbacks. It would just be a one chapter report, and not the most encouraging for veteran Disney goers, but a lot of them might want to know what to expect. The reason for a new thread is because many folks don't want to read about this old fart and his painkillers, and I don't blame them, but a short report on observations might get some others to read. Whatcha tink?
And yes, if you have been to Disney regularly, you will see that some of the pixie dust has been cut back. A first or second timer, probably not but that's not where most of us fall in.
So, should have the end of this report up tomorrow, in the meantime;
I probably would be if I saw it LOL! I have been meaning to go look at it with some former work partners there, but hasnt happened yet (SURPRISE!)
What do you mean last chapter coming up, say it ain't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found the exact bathroom you are talking about, one trip too late, but I have to disagree, bathrooms don't always equal water fountains, there are exceptions, unless you mean bending really low and reaching up and pulling the handle.

Wendy, CBR is gorgeous, but like all the resorts, it has it's drawbacks too. After just staying there for 3 days the pool slides are nothing, similar to Riverside, and the food court is as boring as can be, think POP without the Mom's Night Out menu.

So, should have the end of this report up tomorrow, in the meantime;
Welcome home! I hope this doesn't mean the new report won't be a happy one. I've noticed the cutbacks, but for the most part I haven't been to let down. Cleanliness though needs to go back to the previous standards!
Hi Chelli, you mention a blog in your siggy, isn't this a blog? I'm confused, I don't know the difference between a blog, a tweet and a trippy.
Ok I know you're not really asking but, a blog is similar to this, except that it's all mine. So I can pretty much say what I want without the mods kicking me off the boards --not that I would ever think or say anything like that
The big thing is that I can use it for work stuff as well as personal (I'm a TA specialing in......Disney vacations :scared1: and I am not affiliated with the agency that is owned by the owners of the DIS) Tweeting is like texting, short sweet and to the point. I mainly use it for news updates.
Can't wait for the final chapter(s) of this report and the new one :goodvibes

I'm so glad you're home.....um, I mean, so sorry your trip is over.
I don't know how anyone could not find your painkillers and owie stories anything but hillarious!
Hi Nebo & Smidgy,
We figure you listened to us on the trip before this, so we are going to listen to you on this one...at least on the way down. We'll do 57 (the only way!) to 24 to 75. We'll let you know how we like that compared to "our" route. ;)

 Nebo and Smidgey -
the weather hasnt changed much here!! :rotfl2: Summer never really did arrive - you wouldnt have happened to bring some of it home with you???
YAY, you're back! :yay:
You know I'll be along for the ride for anything you write. Just make sure to leave a forwarding address.
Unfortunately, that address is still here in Carpentersville. But at least we now have a shipload full of pictures of Vista Del Lago. Some day, soon I hope.
Welcome back...we head out this week and will have two people who are not "vets" with us, so it'll be interesting to see it through their eyes.
Great, you have no idea how jealous I am that you can bring some newbies.
Welcome home! I hope this doesn't mean the new report won't be a happy one. I've noticed the cutbacks, but for the most part I haven't been to let down. Cleanliness though needs to go back to the previous standards!

Thanks Chelly, would you believe we once bought an IBM PCjr. when they first came out, got pretty good at commanding DOS, and Diane even experimented in programming a bit in Basic. Now I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff, I don't even have my own cell phone.
I'm so glad you're home.....um, I mean, so sorry your trip is over.

Uh huh, and I see you're taking a page or two on the same subjects. :happytv:

Tracy, your best bet is to go right through Atlanta, skip the bypass. It may be hectic but so is the bypass, plus it's shorter. I would still take 65 over 57, it's about 80 miles shorter, speed limit is 70 compared to 65 in Illinois and Indianapolis and Louisville are nothing to go through. The best part is; if you come down 65 there is a bypass around Nashville called the Briley Parkway, we tried it this time and it was much less stressful and quicker.

Man, I wish somebody had brought some back here before we got there, I have never seen it so humid before, and i have never refilled my mug so much before just to stay alive.

Funny, I was just thinking about you guys today. Glad you're back and I'd love to hear your take on Disney from this trip! Will we need to pack pixie dust in the Christmas stockings in December?
This is Bee just checking in....
Glad you had a great time...Hope you get to realize all your dreams soon!

Darn it Nebo Now I'm going to have to look outside every bathroom to see if there is a water fountain :lmao:
I keep seeing fuzzy cups at Target, have to pick up some of those for my upcoming trip.
Can't wait to hear the rest and the next one, glad you guys had a good time, the cutbacks over the last few years have been very obvious to us being excastmembers, it'll be interesting to see what you observe, you're more tuned in to a lot of stuff than I am, I get a little sensory overload.
Ok, we're going to see what happens here. I really want to finish up the report but the puter is gasping right now, I was only able to grab one photo and it was all I could do to get out of Photobucket alive. I'll be shopping for a new one in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime it's gonna kill me not to be able to post the last pics.
True conversation at our household yesterday:
"So, how'd it go?" Smidgy asked.
"Not too bad, was able to figure it out, no thanks to you."
"You didn't use all the ground beef, did you?"
"Nope," I replied, "I used just the exact amount I was supposed to use, followed the instructions to a tee."
"So, how did you measure out the right amount of ground beef from the package?"
Man, she just wouldn't let up, even though this was my first foray into making hamburger helper, I was a machinist for 35 years.
"It was simple my dear Smidgy".
" The ground beef came in a 3.27 pound package, I made two boxes of HH in two separate pans so I needed exactly two pounds of beef in one pound increments."
"Using my tape measure, I divided the package into thirds, now, since the thirds would still be too much, I moved over the line for the last third by a quarter of an inch, creating one large third and two smaller thirds, each of them weighing in at probably exactly one pound each."
"Line?", she asked.
"Yes, line. the one made by my magic marker to divide the package, I had to mark it out somehow didn't I?"
"You used a magic marker on ground beef?"
"Course not, it was ground chuck."
"Hey, those Sharpies will write on anything."
And yes, both pans came out very well, thank you.
It's Thursday, our last full day of the trip and a MK early entry day.
ANd we are going to get a little silly today.
It's like this;
First, even though we have been unable to extend the trip, all rooms are booked or are now outragously priced because of upcoming President's Week, we still had hopes of doing so a few days ago and added one more day to the park tickets, just in case we got lucky and if you do that, it must be done while you still have days left.
We also decided that for once we don't have to hit the road first thing in the morning, if we can't get a room how about we use the extra day to go to AK Friday morning, then leave for home straight from the park.
This was a good plan, and meant that I don't have to be all depressed today, Thursday at MK.
There was also another reason for my good mood.
Chemicals.
Even though I have been in such pain throughout the trip that would have brought another man to his knees, I have persevered with minimal painkillers.
There comes a point when you get tired of hobbling around saying, "No pain, no gain."
I had a new motto for today.
"No pain, no pain."
I started when we were standing in front of the train station waiting for the brief opening you get for Early Entry.
And it was a glorious day, gonna be 76, not a cloud in the sky.
Diane was happy too. She got to be the wise guru on the bus on the way here. As we were sitting on the bus, we overheard a few kids saying to their mom where they want to go first, Splash Mountain, then Space Mountain. I just rolled my eyes at their ignorance but Diane was out of her seat in a flash all ready to impart her wisdom on them.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/popboardwalk/dianegivingadvice.jpg
"No, no that won't work, Splash doesn't even open yet for another hour, here's what you should do;"
"At the Ice cream plaza, make a right and go to Buzz Lightyear and ride it, then send someone with all your tickets to get fastpasses for Splash Mountain. Now go ride the Raceway if you want to, or go into Fantasyland and ride Winnie the Pooh, Snow White and Peter Pan. If you have time before it turns 9:00 ride It's a Small World, then position yourself at the rope drop and cut through Liberty Square to Frontierland and Ride Big Thunder Mountain RR. Then you should do Splash Mountain, go to Adventureland and Ride Pirates, and by now you can get another fastpass, get one for Jungle Cruise. Go across the path and see Tiki Birds and afterward you'll probably be able to use the Jungle Cruise fastpass now. You can save the Space Mountain fastpasses for anytime of the day.............. and so on.
After a couple minutes of this the mom was taking notes, I was taking pictures of Obi Wan Kesmidgy.
And that's a bit of what we did, rode Buzz, I even beat her this time, a rare event, got fastpasses for Space and then went to the Tomorrowland Raceway.
This is my favorite thing to do on a bright, sunny Magic Kingdom morning.
There was no line yet, and I hopped into the passenger seat.
"Here, you drive," and I handed her the keys.
The vikes were just kicking in and I wanted to be safe, I told her. "Don't want a DUI, you know."
Wow! What a great feeling to have her cart my butt around the track. So this is what Diane feels like on the trips down here.
She got in, we held hands and said a prayer, and we are off!
I immediately made sure the door was locked, propped my pillow up between the door and the seat and told her to wake me when we get to Nashville. And I went to sleep.
About half way through I mumbled, "Kinda chilly in here," and "are you doing ok?" and went back to sleep before she could answer.
We came to a stop near the end, for some reason there's always a backup there, and were suddenly rear ended by the car behind us. We looked around and it was a little kid sitting there by himself, glaring at Smidgy like it was her fault. I'm not sure but I think he might have flipped her off too.
Then we did all the Fantasyland dark rides, hobbled to BTMR at the "real" rope drop and rode it a couple of times with no lines. Then Pirates, Jungle Cruise and now I'm noticing something; It's getting crowded, yep, Predident's Week is right around the corner. Diane then ran back and go us Fastpasses for Splash and we went back to Liberty SQuare for a snack. \
Sleepy Hollow, in particular, to split a funnel cake.
I always get a kick out of this, not because I love funnel cakes that much, but I'm very fond of sitting.
And of course, watching Diane EAT the funnel cake.
I don't know how she does it, but....... Have you ever seen Christmas Story? The part where Ralphie's little brother is having dinner and the mom encourages him to be a "piggy"? That's Smidgy. She cannot eat a funnel cake without all the powdered sugar getting all over her face.
We left then, went back for a short swim and soon were changing to return to the MK.
No, no bird bombers or code browns this time, just water and fun, followed by cocktails. And last day sydrome kinda hit me a bit, I was ready when we left the resort again. I'm still in "no pain, no pain" mode, and was already buzzed by the time the bus pulled up.
Sunny D's, are best enjoyed when they aren't too warm, and of course are easy to smuggle into the Magic Kingdom. And the best way to enjoy them is either on the train, or the Wedway,,,,,, sorry, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, of which we chose the latter on park arrival.
For some reason, even though the park is much more crowded then we have been used to, the TTT is really backed up. Wait, sorry, the TTA. I hate it when I mix up my T and A. (did I just say that out loud?) anyway,
The ramp that goes up to the loading station always reminded me of boarding a cruise ship, but now they are only letting small groups go up at a time. And I wasn't in the mood for lines, at least not for this, don't they care that my Sunny D that I have saved is getting warm?
I saw this little kid standing alone and felt like grabbing him and yelling,
"I HAVE A CHILD!", but thought better of it.
Finally we were on, and all was right with the world. In my world it was more than all right, I knew we were going to be eating soon, and if my little friends are going to help me it would have to be before then. At least this time no drinking fountains were needed, Sunny D..... eince, zwei, drei, Zouffa, or how ever you spell it.
No wait for Casserole of Progress, and we went to see Mickey's Philharmagic.
Diane handed me the 3-D glasses cuz I was too stupid to remember to grab them, and we waited down in front of the theater doors.
With a cast member standing right in front of us.
You are probably asking why I put that in a separate sentence there, and I will tell you.
Because even though the Sunny D's are gone, I still have contraband in my pocket, and I was suddenly hit with the same feeling you got when you came home late at night, kinda drunk and were afraid your parents were going to find out.
And there is no liquour sold in the MK.
Once I realized what I was feeling, instead of being quiet and staid, the opposite thing happened; I didn't care if mom found out.
I put on my glasses, looked around and said to the CM who was looking at me, "Wow, it's like I can almost reach out and touch you! These things are incredible!"
As I picked up my hand Diane slapped it back down, "You be a good boy Steve or it will be time to see the Doctor again."
The CM just laughed.
Wish mom and dad would have had that attitude.
When I am waiting for a 3-D movie, I always place the glasses earspieces around my neck, so they hang down. When we left the theater, that's where they were, of course, so I can see.
At the exit by the glasses return barrel, Diane reminded me to toss in my glasses.
Yep, you got! I almost did.
Reached up, grabbed my glasses, ripped them off my head and almost tossed them,,,,, caught myself just in time, probably because now the barrel had become all blurry.
I casually blew on them, put them back on and tossed in the right ones.
Not sure if Diane bought the routine, but she never said anything about it.
Then it was time to eat, which I wasn't exactly ready to do, but either way it was still time so we went back to Cosmic Ray's.
I just got a hot dog with fries, and we were lucky to get a table right down near the animatronic entertainment.
Later I was told that I embarrassed her.
Thinking about it, I probably did.
You know the guy that tells the jokes and sings, Sunny Eclipse?
The animatronic?
I started heckling him.
Sorry, seemed like the fun thing to do.
"Hey, that supposed to be funny?" "Why did the chicken cross the road on your planet?"
I thought it was funny, I hoped to get other tables joining in but I don't think any did, wonder why.
I have to give him credit, he never once flinched.
As we left I stumbled a bit on the way out and I remember mumbling, "Nebos wobble but they don't fall down," which was followed by a "Oh, brother," from Diane.
Yes, I had suceeded admirably in my goal today of "no pain".
So, what's next after dinner? Of course!, Space Mountain!
"You sure you really want to do this?" she asked.
"Yep, jush point me to me ship." And she walked me through.
She was too smart to ride, so I handed her my glasses just before boarding.
"Cool!"
"It's in 1-D!"
"Steve, just stay in the car, don't try to reach out and explore new worlds."
I was more afraid of my stomach firing the photon torpedoes since I just ate, but all went well.
Since it was now dark, we ended up the night with the Haunted Mansion, followed by using the fastpasses from the morning for Splash, then we watched Wishes, on Main Street.
I guess I lost it a bit during Wishes, just didn't want the trip to end, especially now that the weather had finally warmed up and while it was still going on I had to wipe a tear from my eye. Ok, maybe two.
"Are you crying?"
"Nope, eyes are just sweatin', that's all."

Tell me why you made so much Helper at one time? My dd loves it; lots of Helper around here. Her favorite is tuna helper with broccoli added. I can't even imagine the smell when she takes it to school and removes the lid of the thermos.

By the way for those clicking on "last page", the real report is on page 42, I thought it was a fun chapter.

ok. you KNOW, no matter how often you wash your hands, you are going to drag your hands along the rails in the lines. and, you KNOW, every country in the WORLD is represented at WDW. wednesday night.. all packed, gotta go the next AM. nebo sleeping, Smidgy watching Soap net......ok, WHY? is DUmbo sitting on my chest all of a sudden?.. sigh! at least this "cold" waited till the trip was over!:goodvibes
nebo.. bless his heart, does ALL the driving.(I get freaked out if the INdy speedway goes over 5 MPH!:lmao:) so, 2 days of driving coming up, in a little enclosed space, with tons of smoke. and all my colds turn into Bronchial messes. obviously, I'm NOT going to ask Nebo to NOT smoke! unless I want to drive home (and get us killed). he opened the window to smoke, and I looked like the prverbial dog, hanging his face out the window. (ok, not really )
so, we planned the trip with the MAX amount of days. we can get home on friday aft. about noon or one, and I can be at the restaurant at 4. no problem.
I'll just shower and be bright eyed and bushy tailed at work at 4! work fri night, sat. day is our grandaughter's first birthday party at a park at !pm sat., then I'll go straight from there to work sat night, until about 12, then work all day sunday.
would have been fine.. if not for the "cold from hell", then.. the call from the VFW, can you fill in 2-3 nights this week? regular bartender is sick. so worked day and night all week.
babysitting all the rest of this weekend, after working, and maybe have to fill in this week. how can i turn it down? after spending money on the trip?. then... grandson Jackson was supposed to come next weekend, but he is here this weekend instead. Grandma Smidgy! wake up! aren't you going to play with me?......
...
who lives in the Pineapple under the Sea? ... SpongEBob Sqaure Pants! (oops , universal plug there!)
tomorrow we are babysitting for Kaylee for 2 nights (our grandaughter). maybe next week I will start missing Florida.
the trouble is.... we try to drag out the trips as long as possible....but there is ALWAYS the PIPER to PAY. (for some of us, anyway)
would I go back and give up those last couple days??? my dad (when I was a kid) always liked to end up our vacations a day early...give him a day to "settle in" before going back to work...... NAH! I'll always drag it out as long as I can!!! silly me.
I have a lot of Scarlet O'Hara in me... " I can't think about that right now...I'll think about that tomorrow"!
that could be a WHOLE 'NOTHER thread, actually. quantity vs. quality..
would you add a day onto your trip, if it meant going RIGHT back to work (like, in my case the same day?). I chose, SAME day.....
didn't know I would get the "chest cold" from hell, AND didn't know I would get asked to "sub the very same week" (which, I COULD have turned down, but who can turn down extra money after just spending $ on a vacation?)... and they might need me next week as well!.. here's hoping... um.. maybe hoping...hmmm... well, I'm NOT going to turn it down... sigh.

murhpy's law... why is it, when you agree to be a "sub"... they NEVER call you when you are are doing NOTHING. they always call you when your calendar is full and you are sick (even though you are the most healthy person you know and almost never get sick?). if you turn them down, you KNOW they'll never ask you again,.
I could ... right now... be a substitute teacher.... but I KNOW they would only call me at 5 AM on BLIZZARD days!!!! .. (this is why we need to live in Florida.. Smidgy doesn't drive in snow)
but. ten to one, I will be working day and night this next week. but... every extra day working means another $ towards Disney! or moving to Florida.

Hi Nebo and Smidgy: I've been back from DIsney about 3 weeks, but am just catching up now. It was the trip from hell. I wound up in the ER with severe sinusitus and dehydration. I also have something called Iritis...an inflammation of the eyes that prevents your pupils from sialating (Nebo, I have a newfound respect for you and your eyes:hug:). I am on so many steroids right now, I should be hitting 300 for the Phillies in about a week;).
Loved the TR as usual. Can't wait until the next one...there is going to be a next one...tighy??????

too stupid so plainly put, a riot. ha
Boy, I'll tell you, there's nothing like a screwed up computer to knock the trip reporting right out of you. I just gave up for awhile, just too disgusted to do much about it again, but I have it running, albeit very slowly, once again.
I realize when you drag something out this long, folks lose interest and I don't blame them. I was even all set to go buy a new computer, but I found out that the new operating system, Windows 7 comes out late October, and the last thing I feel like doing with a new computer is changing the OS, even if the computer comes with a free upgrade. So I'm kinda stuck for a few more weeks with this piece of crap.
I also have to admit that I've undergone another of my dreaded "post Disney depression" episodes, I just hate it when I don't even have a trip planned, or can realistically see one in the near future. This weird disability/retirement thing has something to do with that too, I"m sure. It's not like I planned to retire, far from it. It seems the only difference now is that I don't have to set the alarm when I go to bed at night.
But if you'd still like, I only have one chapter left to this trip, and it appears I can still write and post it, I just can't get the pictures out of P-Bucket, and I'll catch up on some call outs.
Post Disneyparting depression, yep.

You DO talk in real life, right? ;)
grrr, third time better be a charm.
Ok, baby steps, start with baby steps.
Tell me why you made so much Helper at one time? My dd loves it; lots of Helper around here. Her favorite is tuna helper with broccoli added. I can't even imagine the smell when she takes it to school and removes the lid of the thermos.
You old softie--sweaty eyes indeed! :goodvibes
That is the most disgusting thing I have EVER heard of. I like hamburger helper, no, don't like any kind of tuna helper, tuna should only be served in salad form on toast. WHy did I make so much? Simple. My older son is back living with us. I think he just ended up taking one of the pans of it up to his room, why bother with a plate?
Nebo,
I love, love and love reading your reports. You are so real.
I always think I am going to do a TR , but never do it...
Enjoyed your ending -
Your eyes were sweatin' - that happens to so many of us.
:cool1:
Thank you DVC, you realize I have zaggerated a little bit on occasion, so not sure zactly how REAL it all is. Like, I'm not really a drunken drug addict. Right, Smidgy?
smidgy?

Diane should have her own comedy routine. I'm not sure which of you is the straight man. :rotfl:
Without a doubt, I'm the sane, sensible one in this family. Someone has to do it.
Love you guys!
Janet, so sorry to hear about a ruined trip. Now, you deserve another one to get it right! I've had major sinusitis before, but with all my eye afflictions, never had iritus, hope the steroids help, Slugger.

Thank you so much for getting that line, I thought it did a "whoosh". (yes, I know there's a smiley for that, but it's not on the main screen which means I can['t get it.)

Of course you need to finish your report...and then start one for your last trip!
ME????? FINISH? Geesh! You could have had your foot amputated and grown a new on in the time it's taking you to finish your report! I'm still waiting for the Germany episode, but I think they have re-built the wall again by now!

I hate spreadsheets, I can never get that fitted end to stay down when you go and tuck in the kittycorner end. Sorry, see above about the laptop, Marita.
Of course we want you to finish your trip report. Here's hoping sometime soon you will find the means to get to DW again.
You want me to go to Delaware again? Rose, I'll always find a way, hey, we've already done the hard part. Next time will be Riverside, mansion section.
Of course, we're here patiently waiting for an update! :surfweb:
Bring it on! :cool1:
Hi Shann n , Did I tell you when we stayed at Hard Rock in Universal in '07, they were filming the third movie in the "Bring it on" series, something about cheerleaders. And of course one morning when I was returning from the local Walgreens after having my vikes refilled, I stumbled upon the shooting set. Not kidding here. One of the actresses walked past and I kinda mumbled that I liked her pom poms, didn't think anybody heard me.
Did you know that people that are hard of hearing tend to talk louder then others?
Some big guy with a huge bicep across his forehead walked me off the set. :lmao:
( and yes, I know the correct spelling is "pon pons". so there!)
It will take more than a few weeks of silence to get rid of me. :goodvibes
Diane has tried the same tactic with me, but I'm still here too.
I have such a long list of people to nag (husband, children, students, parents of students) so I was letting you slide, but of course I want to see the end of the report! Pictures can wait. Get on it, man!
Danielle, you have to idea how much it's killing me not to post the pictures in the appropriate slots that they belong. Crap, especially when it took 15 minutes a photo to upload them into Photo Bucket. When I get the new computer, I WILL post them, even if this report is dead and nobody looks or cares.
How frustrating! :headache:
Not losing interest here - I love reading about the adventures of Nebo and Smidy!
I love the "smidy" typo. Since the "Dobby" nickname never really caught on, maybe "Smidley Whiplash" will.

I know, I know. Once again I have been derilict in my duties, but I can try to explain, Your Honor.
You see, we were walking along the yellow brick road, when all of a sudden,,,,,,,,,
SILENCE!
Ok, ok.
My back did go out, gotten a lot beter FINALLY!
ANd then the computer went out again.
Read, "AGAIN".
I just didn't have the energy to get it going again, at least, not at first.
Then,,,,,, I received an offer for what looked like a great hearing aid deal, but it had to be acted on right away or it would be rescind,,,,, recsind,,,,,,,TAKEN AWAY.
Had a test,,, then frantically tried to research it,,,,,, which meant frantically trying to get the damn confuser going again, which I kinda have.
(kiss, kiss, kiss, lovely computer, just you and me)
The thing is, it was supposed to be gone by now,,,Windows 7 is out already.
(gee, hope the thing can't read)
But I still have lots of files to finish making copies of,,,,,,,almost done now,,,, yeah, in 12 years of a computer you do end up with some stuffage you want to keep.
Anyway, i have an appointment tomorrow with the audiologist, time to pick which ones I want and do impressions or molds. ( I told him I do a great Jimmy Stewart and he just stared at me)
I really, really really want to finish this thing, and to at least talk about the highs and lows of the last trip, but need to get the new computer first to at least be able to publish the pics.
meanwhile.....

DJ, you know it's sucks when your back goes out more than yourself.
And how ironic is that?? About the "go Vikes"?
I'm talking number 4 here, Brett Favre. He got in a diaperload of trouble by admitting a long time ago that he had a problem with Vicodin addiction. He even mentioned fishing them out of the toilet after swallowing them and then throwing up, and because of admitting it, he wasn't allowed to even have a beer for a long time, under league rules.
Now, being in Minnesota, everywhere he looks someone is either holding up a sign or yelling, "Go Vikes!"

I'm back, I'm sad.
We had a great Dis vacation now I need some Nebo to cheer me up :flower3:
nat
Ok, let's see if I still know how to do this.
When we last left our two morons, it was after Wishes on the night before we check out.
And due to my resourcefulness, I had managed to "over-imbibe", which isn't easy to do at a park that sells no alcohol or drugs.
Now, before I continue, a disclaimer here;
I am not manic-depressive.
Nor do I suffer from depression.
I am also not psychotic, schizophrenic, psychophobic or even psychedilic.
I'm just nuts!
And Friday morning, check-out day had my emotions flying all over the map.
I'll explain:
Once on a trip in May of '05, we took a semi-long trip, but the first time we really broke it up into short, split stays.
It went 2 days in a crappy Days Inn in Tampa so we could try Busch Gardens for the first time, then drove to Universal's Royal Pacific for 3 nights there, followed by 3 nights at the Dolphin and ending with 3 nights at Riverside.
On the last day, I kind of lost it during the "Little Mermaid" show at MGM, I was hit with a feeling of incredible sadness that the trip was over and it lasted a couple of hours. To me, it just seemed that we never really "settled in" anywhere on the trip, no need to unpack the suitcases cuz we won't be there long enough. Plus the first part in Tampa was pretty crappy, and having 3 nights at the Dolphin and 3 at Riverside just wasn't enough Disney for me, especially when you have a transfer day in the middle, and have to leave before the sun comes up on check out day.
Either that or because I ran out of vikes.
I'm kidding, take it easy!
So, every time we have driven down, we have always left before sunrise to get a decent start on the way home.
Every time except this one.
Since we were unable to land any kind of cheap Disney romms to tack onto at the end of the trip because of President's Day, we decided to take an extra day getting home, which meant we don't have to leave at the crack of dawn.
That morining I woke up and was immediately hit with that "Oh yeah, time to drive" feeling, then the cobwebs cleared, and it was, "Oh wait, we're going to Animal Kingdom first".
Then I step outside and the eviction notice is on the door handle.
It was a really strange feeling after we packed up. We are loading up the car to go home and the sun is out!
But we're going to the Park, first.
?
It was,
bad feeling
good feeling
bad feeling
bad feeling
good feeling
The plan is really just to finish off the trip watching Finding Nemo, and get out of the park at noon and hit the road.
And of course, today is just gorgeous! Sunny, high 78, a complete and total tease to vacationers who suffered temperatures in the 20's just a few days ago but have to leave now.
We got to the park about 20 minutes past opening and rode Primevil Hurl and Dinosaur before it was time to get in line for Nemo, the Musical.
Standing in line, I kept bumping into Smidgy, which apparently irritated her enough to make her move away.
I couldn't help it, not my fault!
You see I was born with flat feet. And after all the surgeries on the right foot, it got even flatter.
You know how when you get out of a pool and walk back to your chair what your footprint looks like on the dry concrete?
Well mine looks something like somebody dropped a Porterhouse there.
Flat isn't the word for them, more like concave. I'm like a hobby horse.
Just rock, back and forth.
And today it was breezy! I tried to turn sideways, but it didn't help.
Luckily, they opened the doors and let us in early, maybe a cast member took pity on those standing near me.
The show was great, as usual, even took a few pictures that I would post if the stupid computer WOULD LET ME!
At 11:00 we hit Flame Tree just as it opened and split a rib basket and an order of onion rings, it was perfect, just enough and we got a terrific table right next to a picturesque lagoon inhabited with flamingos, and of course, ducks.
At quarter to noon we took the long way out past EE, I wanted to hit one more smoking area that over looked the lake before we left for good. \
There we met an interesting woman, born in Pittsburgh, raised in Finland she now lived in Argentina. She was a one woman UN council.
As my smoke burned down, Diane said, "Well, ready Freddie?"
"Nope, not till I finish my smoke."
Then, when I snubbed it out, she turned and started walking.
I lit another one.
"What are you doing", she asked.
"I said not till I finish my smoke."
"Steve, we have to get going!"
"Nope, might as well get comfortable, got a good half a pack left."
She turned to the Pittslandiatina woman for help who just shook her head, "Hey, if the man doesn't want to go, nothing you can do."
"Steve, we..........."
"Nope, not leaving, gonna stay here. Want the keys? I'll meet you at home."
"Gonna stay here all night too? Where do you plan on sleeping?"
"Anywhere." "I know, I'll sleep in the Conservation Station after the park closes. Nobody will know I'm here."
"Right, the only way to get there is by the train, which won't be running after the park closes. So how do you plan on getting back there?"
"Hitch."
Well, this little charade wasn't getting me anywhere and reluctantly I gave in. By a couple minutes after noon we were once again rolling, unfortunately, this time north.
That night we stayed in a little motel called the Great Inn, in Perry Georgia.
No, we didn't take the Alabama route home.
This was a bit depressing in itself because we have stayed here before, but it was on the way down, now we're going in the wrong direction when we leave.
The next morning was Saturday, we slept later then normal and blew through Atlanta. I might have mentioned before, but there is one part of the trip that cracks me up.
When you approach Chattanooga, you start out in Georgia, then get the big "Welcome to Tennessee" sign.
Then you're back in Georgia.
Then you're back in Tennessee!
All with the big welcome or "leaving" signs.
I always thought the signs should say:
"Welcome to Tennessee"
"Just kidding, you're in Georgia"
"Ok, not kidding now, you REALLY are in Tennessee"
Must have cost the states a fortune building all the "Welcome Centers".
That night we
had taken the Illinois route to avoid snow in Indiana, and stayed in an Econolodge in a town named Effingham.
Really.
Who names these towns?
Doesn't that sound like something you would mutter on Easter when the main course slides off the platter onto the floor?
And this motel was a riot!
The coupon we got from the rest area was for a one bed room. Double beds were extra. But the clerk didn't have any "one bed" rooms, only doubles.
So he would give us a two double beds room, for the single double bed room if we promised we would only use one bed.
HUH?
Got that?
Ok with me.
We unloaded what we needed, then found out that the lightbulb over the bed was out, so was the one over the table.
Ok, Diane went to the office to get new bulbs while I went and filled up the ice bucket, by now I was in serious need of a Manhattan.
She came back empty, they either don't have any or this clerk doesn't have access to them. So what does he do?
He has another room for us, but it's a King Bed Suite. Yes, you can have it for the same price. So we moved.
I open the door, hit the switch on the wall, and nothing happened. Walked to the bed, hit the switch next to it,,,,,,,, nothing!
The one over the table worked. Ditto for bathroom and vanity. But the lamp near a recliner and table,,,,nada.
"Ok," I said to her, "Now what?" "Now we're up to 3 burned out bulbs!"
She thought for a second, "No problem."
She still had the key to the other room, and went back and took the remaining light bulbs that worked out of the sockets and replaced them with the dead bulbs from our "suite" room.
When she got back I realized after unpacking again that I left the full ice bucket in the other room, and of course this room didn't have one. So I went back to the other room for that too.
I think by the time we left next morning, half of the first room was by now in our suite room.
This all did come with an expensive cost though;
If Smidgy doesn't like the pillows in a motel, she will go out to the car and get her "sqwooshy" pillow to use. (yes, this is proof you don't always need a "u" after a "q")
Well, the sqwooshy got left behind, now she had nothing for in the car.
Pity.
coming up, thoughts and overall impressions on the trip:woohoo:

Oh the feeling of going home day. :sad1: The only cure for that is to just live there. I hope that happens for you and Smidgy sooner rather than later!
Glad your back is feeling better. :goodvibes

Glad you are back to posting!!
Can't say that I EVER had the "leaving Disney" depression, LOL, I'm glad when I'm out of there. Of course, that might be due to the "work vs. vacation" issue :confused3

Ok, let's see if I still know how to do this.
When we last left our two morons, it was after Wishes on the night before we check out. Who were they? I don't ..... OOOHHH I get it.
And due to my resourcefulness, I had managed to "over-imbibe", which isn't easy to do at a park that sells no alcohol or drugs.
Now, before I continue, a disclaimer here;
I am not manic-depressive.
Nor do I suffer from depression.
I am also not psychotic, schizophrenic, psychophobic or even psychedilic.
I'm just nuts!
And proud of it, I'm Sure...:3dglasses

Elevator up, elevator down, elevator up, elevator down. Either you're talking about TOT or another one of those strange encounters in a small automated lifting enclosure.:happytv:

It's funny that you either get bitten by a duck or goosed by a flamingo.:)

Ya had to make sure you had enough "fresh air" to finish your trip.

I KNOW!!! Why can't they have Disney Weather where the temperature remains a constant temperature and it never rains???
They do. Only you have to come to Southern California to get it.
the hilarious thing was this: the clerk didn't have any extra light bulbs. I asked, "can't you just take oone from another romm?"....."no, no, can't do THAT,BUT I ca give you that other (bigger) room for the same price!":confused3:rotfl: I wasn't going to argue with THAT logic!;)
then , of course, I ended up doin the "no-no, not alowed thing"(moving light bulbs) after all!.... and that, dear friends, is why I was punished wth the loss of my sqwooshy pillow!

Glad you 2 made it home safe. And Smidgy, I'm waiting for the day, that my dh gives me pity, and "stops" to sleep at nite, instead of driving straight through.
Instead of driving down to Alabama and then over,
take 65 down to Indy, and then take some road over to I75.
Much nicer scenery and you can visit Ohio, KY and IN
a few times each within a 20 mile radius.
Why should TN and GA have all the fun.
