your std cards are nice too - the colours are great and stand out - and the way the green and black on the card will match (well nearly as you will be wearing emerald) with your dress - and the venue!

Thats so lovely your parents are contributing - its quite rare these days - and we wont have parents contributing so we have to save up hard! Everyone deserves a splurge on your wedding day- you only get married once- why settle for less - i have never seen that venue before, it really is georgeous - i have looked at the website!

ooh this time next year you will be married!! :cool1:

Whats really weird is, I knew he was going to propose before he did it.... He wasn't acting funny in the slightest or anything like that. We'd agreed he'd go to work for half a day (He had no holiday time left and had to build up a bit of flexi time) and I'd pick him up at 1pm and we'd go down to the river for a walk together..... When I got up I felt compelled to dress really nicely, despite the fact I knew we were going for a walk in the mud, made a big fuss with my hair and make up, etc.... I just knew he was going to propose that day!

Bob xoxoxox

Aw thats nice lol. We dressed up a bit but you cant get really too dressed up in heat lol but only because dave had accidently mentioned we were going for a meal

and to your update I love thos cake toppers i really want one but yes they are a bit of an expense

and your favour and seating arrangemts i love they sound really good i love how you arekeeping all in a garden theme :D

haha there are you two dressing up -and i was proposed to while i was in dirty clothes, not washed hair, no make up nothing- i hadnt even brushed my teeth! hahaha!!! so romantic!

i wish we was having a english wedding cake in disney - the fondant out there you cant eat- and i wanted a chocolate cake - and you cant even eat the chocolate fondant - its just not the same as the icing you get over here!

Well, not properly dressed up..... He was quite smart as he'd just left work (Shirt, tie, etc) whereas I'd gone for a bit of a more smart look..... Better than the scruffy look I normally adopt when going for a walk! :lmao:

I'm looking at cakes right now... It's driving me mad! Lol!

Bob xoxoxox

I know and when you find the cake design its what flavours do you want for each tier and what icing flavour grr lol

I've seen some really nice ones from M&S where you can just add your decoration? I shall ask at work and see if anybody has used anyone locally (family friends are always good!). I am going to get my dad out of cake making retirement to make my UK reception cake (he used to be a chef and made my mum and dads cake!)!

I've suddenly had one of my nervous moments about the wedding.... I keep feeling haunted by something my Mum said the other week about what would I do if nobody wanted to travel up for our wedding (From Robert's side)..... I keep feeling like the wedding is going to be a disaster and it'll be my own fault.... :sad1:

Bob xoxoxox

Oh don't worry Bob  its a wedding most people are willing to travel for weddings, I think it is programmed into us actually.

I'm glad you've started a PJ, your reception venue looks stunning.

people will travel im sure i thouhgt that wheni have been planning a home reception and been thinking people wont go that far then I think if they want to be there they will be there (im worrying about people travelling 15 miles for a reception not worrying about them travelling 1000's miles lol) I worried Daves family wouldnt come but every one seems very happy to be there it will all work out i am sure its just nerves no one blames you we all get it

Well, it's a 2-3 hour drive for them to get to our wedding, so its not a huge distance.... I think they will travel, it's just my Mum really panicked me by putting the idea that they wouldn't into my head!

Bob xoxoxoxo

oo mums are just their to make you worry lol as long as robert is happy thats all that matters andthat every one has a valued excuse not to be there even if some just come for the ceremony

I've got a future MIL who is absolutely desperate to get actively involved, but I'm afraid I won't let her. She has really terrible taste in everything to do with weddings so I'm afraid there's no chance in hell she's getting to make/do anything! She's hinted about making favours ("I made the favours for our Joannes wedding you know."..."I think favours are an essential thing to make a wedding 'posh', don't you? I made them for my own wedding.".... "Oh, I made the favours for our Joanne, did I tell you?".... :headache: ), and I was like: "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" 'cause she would want to go down the traditional sugared almond route and ruin my nice 'twist on traditional' vibe!

Bob xoxoxoxo

ha ha you really make me laugh Dave doesnt have any contact with his mum so i dont have to worry about the MIL but my mum is great she has really great taste and helps me

Yeah deffintly posh favours are a must i really want some thing different but im a bit worried about getting it out to USA and getting it home lol

but your idea is great i love it and i agree i am trying to stay away from sugared almounds i dont even like them lol

I was having a look at my MOH's dress the other day, and because of the fine fabric its made out of, I'm not convinced a strong coloured green wrap and shoes would work with it. Instead, I thought she could maybe have a wrap like this (http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B001PI6LPY/sr=1-12/qid=1235768531/ref=sr_1_12/279-4669201-2331729?ie=UTF8&node=&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=wrap&mnSBrand=core&size=63&rh=n%3A42966030%2Ck%3Awrap%2Cn%3A42967030&page=)- It looks nicer in the shop than it does on the pic, very delicate with embroidered floral patterns all over it. Maybe that, and some nice black shoes would look better with her dress? We're going to have a look on Wednesday to see what we think!

Well, after a lot of searching for Green hair accessories for my bridesmaids, I found somewhere!!

They're buying their own accessories, all I've asked is that they're green (If they couldn't have got them, I said Black or Clear) and, if possible, fit in with the floral theme we seem to have adopted.....

I stumbled across this site last night, and they sell floral themed accessories in loads of colours, including green! Yay!! Pins and Grips (http://www.flutterbyweddings.co.uk/products/hair-accessories/floral.htm), Headbands (http://www.flutterbyweddings.co.uk/products/wedding-headbands/floral.htm), Combs (http://www.flutterbyweddings.co.uk/products/hair-accessories/comb.htm), etc..... I've said they can pick whichever they like as I'm not bothered about them all matching- I'd rather they were happy and had picked things they like!

Bob xoxoxoxxo

I love that site Bob!:)

I'm currently in search of a wedding cover up.... Up until now, I've been looking for a black, crochet cardigan to wear over my dress (It is going to be freezing after all!) but I saw this the other day whilst doing some online browsing....

http://www.fairygothmother.co.uk/hn-trainedcoat.htm

I thought it would look amazing over my dress, and also that it would be lovely to have something trailing down the aisle after me....

However, at £300 its far too much for me to afford.... :sad1: So I'm currently on the hunt for something similar but cheaper.... However, it's not the end of the world if I don't get it. I think a black lace cardigan would look lovely over my dress too....

Anyone else got any other suggestions?

Hi Everyone!

First of all, thank you for your votes on my veil! I think I'm going to stick with the Birdcage I'd originally chosen!

Today, I went out with my Mum to do the grocery shop at Sainsburys (Going via the Garden Centre where I bought some new Yankee Candle Tarts!) and I found my wedding earrings on the jewellery stand! They were only £2, so a total bargain!

I've found a nice birdcage veil on ebay I might buy instead of the other one... The one I originally posted was about £80 (Which is quite a bit of money really!) plus about £10 p&p and I've just found this:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/f3e3_1.jpg

Which I think would look nicer on my head on the day, could be flipped back easily after the ceremony, etc etc. It's also only £30....

What do you all think?

I was a little dissapointed last night when my Aunt came over and started to tell me which flowers would look best with my dress. She wants to do a hand tied bouquet in a shape I don't really like, and she was on about ivory flowers.... She also suggested black baccura roses (Which are basically dark red, despite her insistance they aren't!)... I'm gutted as I didn't want to have anything ivory/white (Save for the cake, but thats white chocolate and therefore unavoidable!) or red in the day.... I hate the colour red.... I also didn't like the idea of ivory/white roses 'cause they're what I had for my Dad's funeral and I just think it would remind me too much of those. She assures me it would be different, but I'm not convinced. I'll go with the Ivory rather than red though... I'm trying to look for things that'll be a halfway point between what I want and what she thinks will look good. I know she's right- She has a real eye for these things, and I want it to look good on the day, but I'd be heartbroken if I had to have something I hated as my flowers mean a lot to me....

I've agreed with her that because of the dramatic look the dress will have it's better to have all one flower and all one colour though, so thats one thing at least!

Bob xoxoxox

Bob if you don't want those flowers don't have them. It's not going to matter the flowers look beautiful if they aren't want you want or if they remind you of somthing sad. You really need to do what makes YOU feel happy and beautiful.

I love Wilkinsons!!! What a fab shop!! So cheap and gooooooood quality! I LOVVEEE the collage photo frames - the one with a back and the plain glass front- you can get huge ones for like £10!!! you can fit hundreds of photos on there - i got two of the biggest ones for my grandads funeral for like £15 and we had hundreds of photos on them both- so cheap considering some places charge quite a lot for them. I have got all my frames and collage boards from Wilkinsons and i wouldnt get them any where else!

Bob xoxoxoxox

yeah that is what i am looking for - but u have to be careful of the detail on the front on the shoe because i was warned that the tulle can get caught and really rip the skirt - so sometimes you can cover the front of the shoes in clingfilm otherwise there may be a disaster! heh- those two are really nice! im not even completely sure what style i want- do you think they do pointy flat ones in white. I think i will take a look in monsoon after thoes two to see what they feel like.

I am thinking about the same thing (because i dont know what would suit me better, plus the heat/weather , plus my comfort heh)

I am going to find a photo of every hairstyle that i could possibly like, even if i dont think it would suit me, and get a hair trial done and get them to do every hairstyle you got photos of- that way, you might find a hairsytle you didnt realise you would like. I dont like my hair up, but i am going to have a trial and see what it looks like because it maight look different to what i expect it.

Having it down is my safety blanket too- i have my hair down all the time because its just so much more comfy hah.. but you never know, just gather a range of different hairstyles and get them to try them out on you- you never knowwww ....x

well hun you just need to try them! Who knows what you will look like- your least favourite hairstyle may look amazing on you?

And im pretty pretty sure you will not look a mess on your wedding day you silly moo!

The thing is, you just need to try different styles and see what one you feel most comfortable in and the one you think you like on yourself most.

I am terrified on my hairstyle- but i am going to experiement and get over the fears heh! (im more terrified of the make up and the thought of someone else doing it for me on the day and then not liking it- i wear make up every day and i cant go without it- confidence thing with my skin, but again, i am going to have a trial before the wedding first and im going to get the make up artist try lots of different looks on me)

I think one of the most important things is comfort- because if youre anything like me- if i have my hair up and i get a slight pain or my hair is pulled too tight- thats it, the hair is out and down again so im comfortable.. !

I dont know if they are free in hair salons (im guessing they are but im not sure), or you know anyone who is a hairdresser but i'd definately look into getting a FEW hair trials done (i say a few because its better to look around as some people are better than others in doing wedding style hairstyles) and take photos along with you as a guide to what you want them to experiement on-

...and then take photos so you can show us! And trust meeee... you will look amazing on youre wedding day, however you have your hair! (well just dont dye it blue or anything!!??) ;)

gemmybear83
04-12-2009, 10:20 AM
I totally understand about hair Bob - I think I look much better with hair down as I have very large "circle" head!! I am hoping to have mine down but dont really know what to do with it. I would go to a hairdresser you can trust (unless you happen to know a good friend who is good with hair) and ask them their opinions - show them what your dress/style is like and see what they think? It cant hurt - and if you dont like it you will know what you dont like?

Even if you just give it a rough try yourslef you'll get the idea of if the shape of the 'do' suits you. :)
