The spring here in Chicago has been hidious, frost up until last week :( I had turned the garden two weeks ago but held out planting. Today I turned again, added 120 lbs of top soil and planted. Mine is small, I have Celeberty Tomatoes, I am trying a new one a Juliet Tomato, burpless Cucs and my lady bell peppers.
I am glad its in, I have been trying for a couple weeks :)

Doesnt' it feel good to get it in though!? Mine was late this year too... but things did not feel right until I got the veggie plot planted. I hope you plan to keep us posted on how things progress.

I have started from seed before, done the grow lights in winter and all that jazz. Now I go to the Nursery and pick out some healthty plants and in they go :) I do feel better now they are in :)

Ohhhhh, those Juliets are like candy...they rarely make it inside. Our almost 90 year old neighbor considers it her summer exercise to sneak into my backyard and snag pocketfuls of the Juliets.

I was lucky enough to start my veggies back in February, I got my first red tomatoes this week!!! (Oregon Spring variety)

Good luck onyour garden.

So happy to hear you finally got your veggie garden planted.

It's been a cold spring here too. I usually have all the veggies planted by now. I am 3 weeks behind on planting. I did however get the tomatoes and peppers planted this weekend. 36 pepper plants and 36 tomato plants. Yes it sounds like a lot, but I have 4 grown children, all married with their own families and they love raiding Mamu's Garden, I can never have to many veggies.
