My sister and I are doing the MNSSHP for the first time this upcoming October. In our excitement, we are wondering if anyone else is going for the first time. If so, let us know and maybe we can work out some meet ups!:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time! I have been there on three occassions and its my favorite celebration they have at the parks. Tickets should go on sale around May 1st, so keep your eyes/ears open especially if your going to be there for Halloween at all (usually, First to sell out). Dressing up, Trick or treating, Best fireworks show they have different from regular wishes fireworks, halloween lights all around, best parade in my opinion, and all the rides...It will be a blast...Have fun! Later this year, We decided to go during the christmas even which we have done three times before also, but next time after that will probably be halloween once again.
UPDATE: Ok, I had to go through some of my photos from a previous party, I just got too excited with memories and hopefully the photos will help build your anticipation more. Enjoy your trip, Now I rally want to go in October!!!

Have a great time! If you can, go to 2 parties! We went twice in 2006 and had a blast! You will not miss anything if you go twice! The parade and fireworks are worth the extra ticket!:cool1:

We're hopefully going for the first time! We'll be there Oct. 22 - 25 for our friends' wedding. The only way it's going to fit around the wedding is if there's a party on Oct. 22nd, so here's for hoping!!

If you have no financial/monetary restrictions I would highly recommend going to this event twice. Is this a must? No! The MNSSHP is probably the best hard ticket event they have all year long, although the Christmas party is nice I absolutely love the Halloween party. The last time I visited two years ago I went to this party three times and was not disappointed with the special fireworks "Hallowishes" show (different from wishes), parade, trick or treating, etc.

ABSOLUTELY!!! We've gone the past 2 years and both times we've gone twice to the Halloween party. We only plan on going once when we go down there...but we always decide to go again when we get down there. It's so much fun!

Oooh, how I wish we could do two nights! I think we're going to have to settle with just one though, as we just upgraded from camping to a mod!
To all you experts, is there a day of the week that is known to have lower crowds than others?

This will be our first time, we are so excited. Wish we could go twice but it will be only once this time. I've read so many great things about the party, can't wait. We've done MVMCP and loved that. Can you experienced ones give us newbies some advice on what to miss?

Ours were 5 years old last year, and we certainly saw younger children there! The parade is great and the preschool crowd would surely LOVE the trick or treating!! There was a dance type party near Ariel's Grotto in Fantasyland that was really geared to the little ones, and when we went by there numerous kids aged 4 and under along with their parents were dancing and having a great time! The general theme is overall not too scary, the villains are somewhat scary in their character but lots of Disney characters are also out and about, dressed in fun costumes. The festivities really get under way about 7pm, first parade around 8:15 and fireworks around 8:30 as I remember?? The kids really seemed to enjoy wearing their costumes and seeing adults dressed up as well!

Thank you so much for your prompt and detailed reply! I'll be making reservations when we go in Sept! We have 3 & 6 year old grandchildren who can sometimes be a little on the shy side - but thanks to your description, we'll have a heads up on the lay-out. Thanks!:wizard:

This obviously depends on the schedule that Disney decides to put together for this years events. With all the different cost cutting measures it wouldn't surprise me if they have less shows this year, but that remains to be seen.
To answer your question though, I would avoid any Friday/Saturday parties they have just because the locals may migated to the parties on these two days, especially if they have kids who go to school during the week. I have always had luck on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Thursday parties, especially the first three days.
Is this appropriate for the preschool crowd? TIA...
Well, I don't have any children so this would be hard for me to answer, but I will give it a shot. I didn't feel there was anything really scary about this halloween party, after all it is the "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" :rotfl2: There maybe others who can provide better feedback from their own children's experience though.

Hmmm, This is kind of a tough thing to answer for me, especially since its my favorite party they hold. The rides themselves don't really change compared to the daytime, although since its less crowded you can take full advantage of riding some rides quite a few times. Keep in mind they limit the number of tickets sold for each party to 20,000, or at least that is what it is believed at least. So, if your party isn't sold out you probably will have plenty of time to do things. Here is what I would recommend you do though:
(1) If you have kids I recommend you have them dress up as I would say a high percentage definitely dress up. There are quite a few parents too that dress up, I was the bum who didn't but a high percentage do dress up.
(2) Definitely do trick or treating unless that doesn't float your boat, its just fun although I have sometimes seen the lines pretty long they sometimes move quickly.
(3) You have to see the "Boo To You" parade its a must see while your there, as you can see my pictures higher up on this thread.
(4) You ahve to see the "Hallowishes" fireworks since its completely different than the regular daily fireworks (Music and Fireworks themselves are different). Its the best fireworks show I have ever seen onsite.
(5) Purchase any "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" merchandise that you maybe interested in because it will be the only time you have the opportunity to do so. This party merchandise only comes out during the party.

Another first-timer here! We'll be there 10/28-11/2 specifically to go to the party on Halloween night.
I've got a question about costumes. Is there like, a list of rules or anything anybody knows about as far as what kind of costumes aren't allowed into the party? I mean, from common sense aside: no weapons, probably masks that cover your face, skimpy outfits etc. Just wondering! :upsidedow

For those who have been to a party before....
I was trying to guess at the dates for MNSSHP in September. I looked at last years dates, and it looks like for September they had the parties on every Friday and Tuesday, with one exception being the last Sunday of the month. Last year the first party was on September 5th, which was a Friday. I'm thinking that would mean that this year the first party would be on Friday, September 4th.
Can anybody remember if this is right? Are the MNSSHP only on Fridays and Tuesdays in September?

We're also headed to the party for the first time this year. We've done the P & P party 3 times, MVMCP twice, but never MNSSHP. Last year I believe they announced MVMCP on May 1 and MNSSHP on April 1.
I sew costumes, and have made many a costume that went to the party, but none for myself. That makes it a hard time of year to get away, but this time we're just setting a date and working around it!
After doing the other parties, I am absolutely convinced you have to go twice to a party to even have a hope of doing all you want. It takes all night just to see the parade, stage show and fireworks. That doesn't leave much time for character pictures, trick or treating, etc.
We're just waiting for an announcement on the free dining plan so we can make our plans. I'm really hoping they do the last Sunday in September again so we can fit in 2 parties. It just drives me nuts to go and miss a bunch of things I planned on doing!

The following guidelines have been taken from a previous event, and Disney can always change them year after year. So, If your going to attend the event make sure you look at their guidelines either online or within the tickets they send you at home. If you purchase your tickets onsite I would use the guidelines below, although you should still be able to see the guidelines once tickets go on sale from the Disney World website.
Children are encouraged to attend the party in costume. FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD AND OTHERS, PLEASE ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES BELOW.
Halloween costumes should NOT:
Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
Drag on the ground.
Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.
Be offensive to other guests.
Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

I would probably agree with your analysis in normal years, but unfortunately nobody knows what scheduling decisions may be made regarding MNSSHP due to financial conditions. Disney has been cutting down quite a bit regarding number of shows per day/week, employees, etc. So, It will be pretty hard to know for sure what they may do, and it wouldn't suprise me if they cut down the MNSSHP schedule for this year. Here are some of the past dates I have found on the internet, and that is if they went forward with these dates in previous years since they are always subject to change:

It's also interesting to see the dates from previous years. I was beginning to wonder whether or not they would still do the party on a Sat. night for the 31st, but it looks like they've done Sunday nights as well in years past.

Anyone know when they typically release party dates for the year??? It looks like they added a bunch of parties last year, and I'm curious to see if they cut back because of the economy. I want to book a trip very soon, but really am hoping to cover 2 party days.

Keep on the look out here because last year tentative dates were already circulating in March. Sometimes they aren't completely accurate but most years they are.
The official dates were released just acouple of days before May 1, which is the day the tickets went on sale.

There is a link on DISboards with last year's premium dates so you can kind of compare -- seems like weekends and those dates closer to Halloween were premium, and yes, it was about a $5 difference.

:) Oh, for those of you going for the first time....you have to see the Headless Horseman. He is magnificient. If you are standing near the wooden bridge by Liberty square near the Christmas store, he should stop the horse and have him rear up on his back legs. The horses hoves are heard all the way down mainstreet and he is really riding fast. It is the biggest, blackest horse I have ever seen and trully awesome. We have been to MVMVP twice each time for the last three years. We are just dying to get back to MNSSHP ( done it 5 itmes)--it really is a special evening....have fun every one. DH specifically wants tickets on Halloween (and he usually wants to go when it is not so crowded), so we are hoping to go 10/29 and 10/31.
If you can, like others have said it is worth it to do this one twice!!:wizard:
