Both of mine are in the mail.. thought one would have arrived at it's destination today, but judging from an e-mail I received letting me know that mine was in the mail, it would appear that it didn't make it and Monday is a public holiday over in the West, so now I have to hang off until Tuesday to hear anything.

Oh and I got mine from Elaine today. :goodvibes GMTA... as she also sent hers on Wednesday, so they must have a better service over in the West than we do, here in the East.

I've e-mailed her to let her know it's arrived too Sarah.

Yeah, we watch that too Sarah and they are very strict.. I've had things taken from my packages that have come from overseas and even though I could get them back after they'd been de bugged etc... it's just not worth what they charge... $40 plus, so I just tell them to destroy it.

They are very strict with food and plant material as we are so isolated here.. this big island, totally surrounded by water in the middle of nowhere, so they have to be careful what comes in. But it can be a pain at times just the same.:upsidedow

To my surprise I received a package in the mail from scotsgal56! She sent me The Courier and the Forfar Dispatch. Also included were some flyers for summer holidays, a mortgage broker and Somerfield. Almost forgot, some cookies or cakes as you call them, Jaffa cakes.

The store flyer is so interesting. Even though the names are different, the packaging looks the same as some of the products over here.

In a little while I'll sit down and take a look at the newspapers while enjoying my cookies.

Yes, they were nice and chewy! We definately don't have anything over here like that that I have seen. The grocery store I go to has quite a large area devoted to other countries' foods. I will have to see if they carry Jaffa cakes!

Sarah, I looked at the store yesterday to see if it carred Jaffa Cakes. It doesn't carry them but it was so interesting to see the different items. Some of them are labeled in the same fashion as products familar here but the names are different.

I had a flick through the sales papers from the stores ooh-ing and aah-ing at all the products before browsing the papers and electric company magazine. I will read them cover to cover for sure. Thanks also for the candy. Rowan had the Coconut Nest, DH had the Strawberry egg and Holly and I shared the Peanut Pattie and praline. My younger DD, Rowan was absolutely escstatic to receive Peeps as we saw them mentioned in the Easter/Spring Exchange signups and once we looked to see what they were online she was fixated on them - you made her day!

You are right about similar products though. I can think of a number of things (especially candy) that seem to be the same although the recipes may be different.

I had no idea what a Scottish Tablet was, but did notice that the ingredients include "full cream, sweetened condensed milk." Well, it's just delicious, sort of like our fudge, but definitely smoother, richer somehow. What a treat! Thank you again, Spookysarah...I'm enjoying the read! I would love to see the Guild's embroiders' works, I'm always amazed at how creative people can be.

I hang my head in shame but there is one more to arrive. It is a non DISser and due to an admin error (mine :sad2: ) a package was just mailed today. I closed this exchange as all DIS packages had arrived but as Elaine is a dibber and the only dibber participating I forgot that there would be no place online for her to share in the excitement of her package arriving. She has received a package from Auriel and is awaiting the long overdue second one. I will copy her post over when it arrives.

What a lovely surprise today when I got home and found a package lying on the doormat, thanks very much. Just had a quick look through the papers but looking forward to sitting down and reading them properly.

Thanks for the bars of chocolate and yummy tablet, this is one of my favourites. Also liked and appreciate my tea towel.

What a "scunner" the kids spied the chocolate, now I can't eat it all to myself.
