Hello, My name is Hallie and I will explain my title in a moment. I am the crazyone in the family that is hook on disney. From Movies to Parks. I am so HAPPY :cool1: I get to go back this year. :woohoo: I haven't been their since 2005.
It's been a long wait, I was told I would have to wait another 2 years after this trip to book and plan another wdw trip. I think not. I will start to put money aside so I can go next year, I hope it happens. :rolleyes1 :yay:
Anyways back to my title I don't want to hear one complaint. Well I have been to disney 4-5 times and I know it may not seem like a lot. Anyways this trip I am not getting any help! I am only 23 and not one person is giving me any or in some cases very little help. They all say just plan it. Its from resort to ADRs to Park days, it all me. Which in some cases its great :) others I'd really like some kind of input.
Our Trip is in June when everyone is out of school okay when the niece and my mother our out of school/work. While the rest of us have to take a week off of work. But for me thats fine Its for Disney.
Coming up who is going

Hi Miss Hallie! I loooooove Disney planning. I am also like, no complaints from you if I make all these plans. :) But I am the biggest Disney nut in my family, so I would probably be the one who was the most upset if I didn't get to do something. Which is why my family usually leaves the planning up to me. :rotfl: Anyway, I am subbing, and I would LOVE to give you MY personal input for your trip! :rotfl2:
Oh, and we are the same age! Wahoo! :thumbsup2 (until April anyway) :)

So on this Trip I am suprising my Sister, Brother in law to be and, niece with a cake. I would like any input from anyone who has done this should you get the cake the first day in the middle of the week or the last day.
But then again here is my problem, I don't know when the park hours are for June. and I can't make ADR until March 23rd.
I would like to either do a cake the First Night when the whole family is together or the last day of our trip when the whole family is together.

Oh Where o where will we stay.
With so many Disney Resorts where does one stay and do you call a place home. For me I love Port Orleans French Quarter. It is quiet, peaceful and nice. So this time we will stay a POFQ. :yay:
We did throw the idea around Animal Kingdom, Beach Club, Wilderness. But I just said no, we will keep it simple and stick with POFQ.
My sister who doesn't help says lets stay at Animal Kingdom I want to wake up and see an animal outside my window. I did have to step on her dreams, by saying do you have the money for Animal Kingdom.
which we did not.
So on we went about book our 09 trip in november of 08. Mom and I go to the travel agent. We had to keep this trip a suprise until christmas day.
When we booked the trip for this june we got the 4/3 deal :woohoo: .
Later we found out that we could have done the AKL. But we are staying put at POFQ since it is my favorite.
May be next trip we will stay some where.
So We will have 2 rooms at POFQ and Its going to be a lot of Fun I hope.
Coming up next: ADR's

Hey! Ressie plans look great! I love CP, but I have only been there for breakfast. Sci-Fi is super fun too, and they have good burgers, IMHO!
POFQ is your fav? My Dec trip is booked for POFQ and neither Kelly or I have ever stayed there, and we are very excited about it! What is your favorite part about it?
Oh, and there is a thread on the Disney Restaurant boards that is all about cakes, what your options are and how to order them. You should check it out, you can get some really great info from it. :cutie:

I was thinking about the breakfast at CP but It seams that the dinner is going to only work for now! Now For Sci-Fi my mother picked that so she did have 1 input. Last time we ate at 50s but no one else liked it. but me so I had to go for something else.
POFQ is your fav? My Dec trip is booked for POFQ and neither Kelly or I have ever stayed there, and we are very excited about it! What is your favorite part about it?
POFQ is my fav. I think it is just so nice and quiet and i like when resorts have a quietness to them, but not to quiet.

Hiya! What a wonderful surprise for your sister and her future family. I would get it at the beginning so you can eat it all week while you are there. I am also having the same issues with park hours, EMH, and ADRs, I am totally obsessed and I have always been able to do everything way in advance. I am going through planning withdrawl symptoms at the moment and freaking out :scared1:
Can't wait to hear more! :cool1:

We stayed at POR in 2006 and loved it! It was like staying at summer camp, so beautiful and peaceful. My DH always throws out let's stay at Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, or the Polynesian. In reality, we can only afford moderate resort and then we have spending money. If we stay at deluxe, less buying power! Can't have that! :thumbsup2

Day 1: Crystal Palace
We have never eatten here before but looking forward to it. I hope we do get in. I will have to be for dinner only. We have never been for dinner but have always enjoyed breakfast, it is really cool because you get let into the park early for breakfast and you can take pictures without too many people around.
Day 2: Le cellier or Rose and Crown
Le Cellier I hear is popular (we have never been there)
Rose and Crown (We have been their) and love it
They both will have to be for dinner only
Never been to Rose & Crown but I would love to we have pickey eaters that refuse to eat there. But we have been to Le Cellier for dinner and it was really good.
Day 3: Sci-Fi
We have never been here but looking forward to another new place.
Lunch only - we went to dinner here in 2006, the atmosphere we great and it was really cute to see all the old movies on the screen. I was very dark. Darker then Le Cellier when we ate there. The food was good but not great. It is a fun experience.
Day 4: We will split dinner up a part of 2 and a part of 4
I am working with the sister and soon to be brother in law to have dinner by themselves
Either Spoodles or Coral Reef (No one has been)
Never been to Spoodles Or Coral Reef, pickey eater issue
Mom, Dad, Niece and I Chef Mickey (we have not been, but had ressies last time but we could not make it and went some where else)
We love Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner. At dinner they have these little dessert. Here is a pic:
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg232/AlohaAnnie_2008/Disney%202008/IMG_2481.jpg
They are oreo cookies covered with chocolate ganche (sp?) they are cute and my kids and DH loved them.
Day 5: Cape May Cafe
We have not been but hope it good (Dinner only)
We had dinner at Cape May Cafe and it was one of the best dinner we had, it was good and there was a variety of foods. They give the kids crayons and you can draw on the paper table cloth. :thumbsup2
Day 6: Is Open not sure yet have a few ideas
1900 park fare, ohana or just keep it open and find something when we are down there. We had dinner at 1900 park fare, it was not good for my pickey eaters - we have heard many good things about Ohana for dinner and we are planning to eat there this June 2009 Trip.
Day 7: last day and CRT
3 of us have been here mom, dad, and me.
We would like to take the rest here.
(lunch only) - We have never been to CRT for Lunch or Dinner but we went for Breakfast. I was good and entertaining. We enjoyed it. You will have to let me know how lunch or dinner went, if you decide to eat here, for sure. :cool2:
So what do you all think?
I think you have a great plan, you do not need them for planning! :thumbsup2 You are doing a great Job :goodvibes

We have lots in common! I have only been to WDW three times previously once as a kid when I was 13; once when I was around 25 when it was just my DH and me; and once in 2005 with our kids.
I am also doing all the planning for our trip for this summer - June 2009 at CSR
possibly the same week - June 21 -28!
I couldn't believe how much in common as I read your reports. :cool1:
I will enjoy reading about your plans. :thumbsup2
You may want to consider a dinner at Narooses or Victoria and Alberts for for sister and her husband. I have not been myself but have read lots of good stuff about them. I think those restaurants or Spoodles would be better choices than Coral Reef.
H20DogsNDisney
02-26-2009, 10:54 AM
I keep hoping Spoodles will be the best for them. I hope I won't have to much trouble getting into Spoodles for them. Thanks the others Narooses or Victoria and Alberts will not work this trip although Narooses was on the list in the start then we didn't do the deluxe and since CRT we are paying out of pocket, one sig. Rest. is all we can do.
Thanks again come back when I have an update.
Hope you have a great june trip as well. :cool1:

Hi Dogs!
I'd plan more MK time earlier in the trip.
Are you getting the & More fun option on the park passes? If so there are other things you can do in addition to the waterparks. If you are not getting the option and plan to got to the WP twice definitely add it. That option cost $50 and one day WP admission is $40/34. If you don't want more than the waterparks, I'd probably just choose one water park and spend the second "WP" day at the hotel pool. If you plan it right you can do the same waterpark twice in a day. During the summer one of the parks is open 'til 11 or so so in theory you could spend the AM at a the WP, visit a park then come back to the same WP in the evening.
The WP Fun & More:
Select from two fabulous Water Parks, DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park, Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex or a round of golf at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course, a relaxed, nine-hole walking course designed for the entire family. I think with a 7 day ticket you'd get at least 4 admissions so you could do both waterparks, DQ for that $50.
As for the cake, I agree with PP, get it early so you can graze on it during the trip.

Dogs, sounds like an excellent plan. It will be easiest to do mini golf at Blizzard Beach, the course if right outside the water park. I played the Summer side on my trip. You two shoud definitely do the summer and winter side, it is really, really cute.
Plan to do DisneyQuest with her on your "date night". You've already paid for the admission with your park passes, so use it.

Nice choices and great to hear you got most of what you wanted. I got up and was on hold at 7 Sunday morning and was on hold about 35 mins. I got what I wanted. I did had to switch days to get 2 of them and 2 others were just a time difference of less than 30 mins from what I wanted. So all in all,,,I am happy and think giving up a sleep in day was worth it.

Hi Dogs,
I am enjoying reading your pre-trip report! Thank you for reporting about how your ADR call in went today. I hope mine goes that well on Saturday morning. I am reading conflicting reports about Sci Fi. Several people were reporting that it is going through renovations at our time of travel but then I read some people were able to book it during our time. I don't know what to think but I am glad you had a back up plan (you will like 50"s PTC, it's fun). I am going to try for Sci Fi too. I'll let you know my outcome.
Look forward to reading more of your report!
Take care!

Take care!
Thanks Boulder please let me know if you find out any more info about sci-fi. We did try to call again just incase but no luck!

The first one book all ADR's up until Friday then I was put on hold and given to another CM who then book my last two days. All went smooth, but no Le Cellier or Sci-fi for us, however we did get most of our 1st choice ADR's only 2 where our back up ADRs so thats all good. Tell me do thing my times are good? Should i call back and change something for something else?

Saturday June 27
We are going to Cinderella's Royal Table at 1:20 for lunch. I wanted 12:00 but 1:20 maybe better.
Hallie, I think you did very well on your ADRs. Here's a thought......don't give up on Le Cellier if you really want it. There is a thread here on the boards where people post looking for ressies that someone else may be willing to give up. We got a Le Cellier ressie last Oct. using that forum. It seems that many people call in and make multiple reservations and then when it gets closer to the trip are willing to give them up.....

Are you going to buckle under the pressure to cancel the Clam Bake?
H20DogsNDisney
03-25-2009, 09:04 AM
No I talk to my sister last night She doesn't want me to cancel the Clambake. But now she tells me she wants a breakfast. I told her to call and good luck!!!

I think it was easy for me to give up 1900 park fare then for me to give up the clambake. Niece didn't sound like the she wanted to go to 1900 park fare. She didn't want to meet the step sisters or the step mother, From what I am getting out of her, She wants to meet Pooh bear, and friends, the big Cheese himself, Minnie Mouse, and Cinderella.
H20DogsNDisney
03-25-2009, 09:16 AM
So here is our goal of who we want to meet.
Pooh Bear
Tiger
Eeyor (Spelling?)
Rabbit
Minnie Mouse
Mickey Mouse
Cinderella
Donald Duck
Mary Poppins
Alice
Belle
Pluto
This list will continue when I find out more who we plan to meet.

I must say that the evils (step-mother and step-sisters) were quite entertaining! Plus my future daughter-in-law and my son's future mother-in-law are quite stunning! It should make for some great family get togethers!

What kind of bfast does your sister want? Boma's is awesome and not as much as an adventure as dinner there so maybe you can still get your Boma wish in. Also if you had to pay OOP its $18/adult, taxes included. It was a fantastic meal for me last month. Maybe work this in instead of either 50s or R&C. Its easy to get a great CS meal at Epcot if you spend the TS at Boma.

Hi Dogs,
Love your choices for dining. Boma breakfast is delicious. You and your family will really enjoy it.
I made my ADR's this morning and I was able to get Sci Fi for June 30 at 11:30am. Just wanted you to know. Maybe the further away from the end of star wars weekend, the better chance of getting ressies at Sci Fi.
Take care!

Dogs, so glad you got Boma and hope you love it as much as I did.
Just a little housekeeping though: Take the bus from your resort to AK park. Walk around to the other side of the bus lot to stop #7 where you can get a bus to AK Lodge. Boma is down a level and there is a stair case directly across from the check in counter that takes you right to Boma's lobby.
As wigd said the Frunch juice is awesome, do not miss it.

I see I only have 75 days to go. I still have a lot of Shopping to do. I am getting ready so slowly. It will be here before I know it. Looking at stuff I need to do.
Need to get Maps (the ones that you can get customised)
Need to order cake (2 weeks to 48 hours before I go)
Need to think about (what we will do each day) (we know which park)
Need to get a new suitcase
and so much more I can't even think about

How tall is your niece? BB has numerous 48" height restrictions, just don't want you to be surprised or disappointed:
Summitt Plummitt, Slush Gusher and Downhill Double Dipper all have a 48" height restriction.
At Typhoon Lagoon the Crush 'n Gusher and Humunga Kowabunga have the same restriction.
As for your MK list, how can you skip Mickey and Minnie's Country Houses in Toontown? You'll meet both for photo ops at the end of your "tour". When you leave there jump on the Railroad, station just to your left as you exit. :thumbsup2
Though she rides the big rollercoasters she may also want to try Goofy's Barnstormer, it is right across from the country houses so you can make that a spur of the moment decision. We took some great photos with Goofy and his son Max at the Barnstormer years ago. By the way, we found Toontown to be closed during evening EMH, so if that is still true you'll want to hit those during regular hours. Tiki room was a walk on during EMH. Aladdin was nice "substitute" for Dumbo during EMH too (long line for Dumbo).
Peter Pan is also a must do for us. Its even a Fastpass ride! Your niece will get a kick out of flying at WDW. I'm sentimental, the carousel is a must do.
I'm with wigd, Fantasyland first. :thumbsup2

If you have a CS meal planned for this park take a look at the recently released picnic baskets. For 3 CS credits might make a great shared meal for your crew after the big Boma meal. (at least Boma is a big meal for me...lol)
DHS tip: hit the characters early, they aren't usually around past 6pm, we found this out the hard way. :sad2: Good news is we were able to return before our flight the next day, whew Zeke was close to tears when he found out he couldn't meet Mater and McQueen. :sad1:

UPDATE!
I am thinking of not doing the cake since, we will be taking a taxi from POFQ to BOMA and since we are paying OOP for both Boma and Cinderella's Royal Table. Plus I want extra money to spend shopping for the trip and when in disney. Plus you get dessert at all dinners. Why spend more.
What do you all think?
tinkgurl

I agree with you. Save the $$$ for shopping and stuff at Disney. You do get dessert pretty much at every meal so the cake would be just more food!

septbaby

Enjoy the desserts, no special cake needed!
What tour and is it the entire group? For a group your size a reservation might give you a bit of peace of mind that you'll all get "a seat". Also your niece is too young for some of them. Disney likes to keep the magic for the young ones, so they aren't allowed to see the "backstage" so check the specs for each one. Even if the adults take one of those tours, don't let them tell her too much about what they saw. :thumbsup2
AAA does a discount for the Behind the Seeds Tour, check your local office for details. :thumbsup2

Hey Hallie,
Just got caught up on your report. First, I do agree with you about the cake. Everybody knows I am CHEAP (LOL), but you are going to be sharing a lot of first with your sister's future husband and his daughter. I mean you get to introduce them to Mickey Ice Cream Bars and Dole Whip Floats and Mickey Rice Crispy Squares and well.....you get the idea!! Not only will you be getting all those great desserts with meals, but when you are touring the parks, you will also be using those snack credits for some great little treats as well. So, I think you are right about the cake. Enjoy the money it would have cost on something else during your trip.
You have been planning and planning and it's all going to work out great for your entire family and remember you need to relax too!! You have been doing a great job, not just planning your trip, but trying to include the things they will like as well, so give yourself a break and trust me thost 50 days will be here before you know it!!!

For a group your size that will break up into smaller groups from time to time I say get the Photopass, then everyone can get the CD for their safekeeping and can print whatever photos they want. If you can get a few full group shots try to do that. You usually get one free 5x7 with your package, probably a nice momento for mom.
Good luck with your decision!

Hey Dogs, here is hoping that you are able to chill some and just let everything else fall into place. I would say, yep waiting on everyone else is just the pits......but unfortunately for Tracy, around here that would be "me" that everyone is waiting on!! LOL Well, I say that I am usually the last one to get packed and then I have to get everyone's stuff into the car or van, the I usually end up waiting on them to actually pull out of the driveway!! Of course there is a good bit of difference between loading up the car to leave and having to be at the airport at a certain time. If I run a minute or two behind when driving, no foul....LOL
Also what did you decide about the Photo Pass, you decide to do it or not?

Did you request a building you wanted to be at?
We usually get building number 7 and are hoping to be in building near the pool/near the food court.

DD thinks we are going next summer, has no clue about this year. I requested #2 or #5, who knows what we'll get. It's our first time at POFQ, so I'm looking forward to it.
As for packing, I have a box on my dresser I keep tossing things into that I want to take with us, then I'll sort through that closer to departure.
And I need to find the camcorder and the plug to the portable dvd player...I have no idea where I put them. Now is the part where I get nervous and think that I'll leave something at home that I'll need.

Um...I think it might thin out a bit around 3:30 because people might be leaving after watching the 3:00 parade...If you tried to get there a bit before the parade started, I'm sure the lines could be shortened because most people will be watching the parade..Just depends!

Thanks I hope it thins out, but maybe it will be hot and people will go and chill by the resorts pools
Hi Dogs, I tend to agree with both you and Wigd. If you want to do rides, people will be watching the parade at 3PM. If you wait until 3:30PM or so, I think you are right that people will be going back to cool off. I'm a BIG help, aren't I????? HEHEHEHEHE We usually go back to rest and swim mid afternoon, if that helps.

Your niece will likely want to swim once she sees the pool. I'd plan to go for a swim and have a bite at the resort then head over to MK if you are going to the park that day. Also there are areas of the park that may not be open during EMh so getting to those earlier may work well for you.

We are going to try to get back to the resort each day for a pool time! around the afternoon. I think we will head to the park at 3:00-3:30.:confused3

How about a Disney tie for the dads...if they're tie wearers. Or a large Disney mug stuffed with smaller goodies like pens and pins and golf balls, etc. There's a pretty good selection at WOD at DTD. That way you don't have a basket taking up luggage room.

Hey Hallie,
The good news is, that it will be FUN to watch those that wait to gather their things at the last minute. Well that is what I keep telling Tracy as she watches me pack the night before!!! I am sure it will all turn out fine. Those of "us" that like the pressure of getting all our stuff together at the very last moment, seem to do OK........and for those that prefer to have everything in order ahead of time, that works for them as well.
I say make a list of the things that you know YOU need and pick them up when you are out and about......that way the worse that can happen is that you go prepared and the "slow-pokes" see you in your dollar store poncho, while they are having to pay much more for theirs at Disney!!! Then you get to have the last laugh AGAIN.........while quietly saying....."I TOLD YOU SO!!" :rotfl:
You seem to have everything lined out for a Magical Trip, so relax and remember the old saying......you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!!! You have done your part, it's now up to each of them!! Don't get to stressed, think about all the fun you are going to have at Disney and SOON!!!
