Yea. Our Spring tornado season has decided to start early and we are under a tornado watch until 8PM this evening. Whoopee.
Why do we have to have 2 tornado seasons? Seriously? I could really do without that claim to fame---"one of the few places in the world with two distinct tornado seasons."
Spring March - August (is it just me or is this a bit looong for spring?)
Fall - November through mid December.
Thank goodness we get a break from peak tornado season September and October since we're really busy with peak hurricane season those months. LOL
So just to recap March through Mid December is a bad time to be in Alabama. I wonder why Walt didn't build Disney World here? It would be so much easier for people to get to. ~grin~
Seriously folks, could you send a few prayers down this way? If we have to lose lives today, please pray that it isn't a school again. It's hard to face any loss but it's almost unbearable when the schools are hit.
It's been almost a year......... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,256278,00.html
Yesterday was the year anniversary of this one:

This is something I really do not miss about living in AL. My dog used to howl every Wed. when they tested the tornado siren. I have lived through a tiny one, don't plan on another.
Give me a hurricane any day. At least I can prepare for that.

My dog and the neighbor's dogs have been antsy all day, going in and out, whining, barking. The sky isn't that pukey green and it doesn't smell like a tornado yet though so maybe it will be a watch that ends in nothing. I hope.
I hate that smell.
I hope I never live to be in another F5 tornado.

Thanks ya'll. It's looking kinda bad now.
Jen, did you see the radar? We are literally surrounded by storm cells. Hail up to 2" in diameter. Looks like Autauga Co is going to get it pretty bad and there are reports of a touch down in Demopolis. Sirens going off in Autauga and Dallas Counties now.
I hope this passes quickly.

Warning is over...FINALLY! We're back to just Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings until 1:00AM. We have a small leak in the roof now and a bit of hail damage but just minor. The insurance company will be relieved they won't have to buy a new roof again, especially since the just put this one on 2 years ago!
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers-damage reports aren't in yet but it doesn't sound like it was too bad! Thank God!
Keep up the prayers until 1 (I know you'll all be waiting up ~grin~)

We went through the same thing tonight here in the Atlanta area. My dog is currently hiding under the ottoman where he has been since the storms began (they stopped over an hour ago, but he still won't come out). A lot of areas got hail that was almost 2 inches in diameter, and they were spotting tornadoes all over the place.
I know that there are several posters here that live in Kennesaw, and I hope they are all okay. From what they were saying on the news, they had some really bad hail and lightning. My youngest daughter goes to school up there, so I always watch the Kennesaw weather.

I have been really blessed... so far all the GA storms have been just to the south of me. We had some bad rain, and winds, but lightening wasn't bad and no hail. My prayers with all those in "closets".

We came through fine, thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!
Insurance company will come out sometime this week and check the roof and see how much damage was done. I don't think there will be too much, there were only a few dings on the car.
We got off easy this time :cheer2: minor damage to roof/car and a few tree limbs down! Thanks again everyone and I hope everyone else in the Southeast came through with no real losses as well!

I was in the area of the tornados as well....worked through the final warning then drove home watching the lightening and hoping a tornado wouldn't touch down as I was driving in the outback where no sirens are...luckily I made it home safe. Work has me so busy these days All I have time to do is work eat and sleep....glad all made it through this batch of storms in safe shape! We might get ice this weekend!

Well, we're out of the closet/hall for the third time this afternoon. Forecasters say this is going to go on throughout the night due to all of the squall lines coming through.
We've spent a grand total of about 4-5 hours in the hall/closet today and when we aren't under a tornado warning, we're under a severe thunderstorm warning and tornado watch until 6am or so. 4 counties just west of us under warnings still and their squall lines are moving east to us. Stupid weather, it was in the 70s today and we are supposed to have snow on Sunday....hence the tornadoes.
I usually do ok, unless my girls aren't with me. When the first one went off, the youngest was in the care with dad so of course I had to have a mini freak out until they could make here and get in the hall.
One touched down in Chelsea and there have been a few fires due to lightening other than that, I don't know the damages yet. We only had quarter sized hail so that's good.
Keep us in your thoughts and thanks for the prayers, for us and for my poor baby dog (I'll put that on the pup thread)

...mobile phone...
back in the closet. Nothing like waking up to sirens and the weather radio shrieking just to sit here in the hall for an hour.
I guess it figured quiet from 2:30-6:30 was plenty of time to sleep >:(
Jen, I'm so ready to move back to FL
