Hello All!
This is my first pre-trip report so hang in there with me. First all let me start by introducing myself and explain how this trip all came about! I'm Stephanie and working mother of two beautiful boys DS(10) and DS(4). And a wife to my DH. We have been married for 5 1/2 years, however we are HS sweethearts so we have been datong since 1996. Secretly we (DH and I) love all things Disney!! SHHH ~ he doesn't want anyone to know!!! LOL!! But I am sure you all will appreciate that. My children LOVE Disney and their TV's stay on the Disney channel ALL DAY long!!! Therefore I felt it was only right to plan a trip to "The World".

Now, my oldest son has been to Magic Kingdom before...back in 2004 we were passing through Orlando going to visit family in Bradenton and we decide to spend a day in Magic Kingdom. As you all know a day just doesn't cut it in Disney. We barely even got our feet wet and it was time to GO!!!! :sad2: Well now that my youngest son will be 5 when we decide to go think that it is a perfect age for him to experience the magic. BTW ~ he has been on a Disney kick for like a month, asking "Can we go to Disney tomorrow?"
I started to plan a trip last year during the "free dining" promotion, however I had to cancel because of unexpected financial difficulties!! :confused3 Well now I am at it again!! This time I am letting nothing get in the way. Our tentative dates are 8/30-9/6, we are praying for "free dining" again!!! I have not booked anything yet, but we are looking at either CBR (pirate: room) or Windor Hills StoryTime townhomes. Any ideas, reviews (good or bad) that you have, I would love to hear them!
Being that August/September is SOOOOO far away, I decide to do a trip report to pass the time and I hope that you all can help me along the way. This is my first "REAL" trip to Disney and I would love to hear all of your ideas and suggestions. I just love reading these boards and learning from the experts! :disrocks: So join me for the ride and I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Stay tuned for a full introduction of the "cast"!!!

So I bet you are wondering who is going on this trip to the Wonderful World??? Well sit back and relax as I introduce nu2wdisneyw's crew!!

First there is me, of course. You can call me Stephanie (28). I am a mother of two beautiful boys, you will learn more about them later! I work in Human Resources as an Employee Representative. I have always LOVED Disney, however I have only been to Magic Kindom twice in my life (so deprived) :sad1: . Well I vowed to myself that I would do more for my children and that they NEEDED to visit The World at least every other year. I would love to be DVC owner, however now is not the right time for us and DH is not completely sold on the idea yet. I have never had to plan for a trip of this magnitude so I am learning from all of your pre-trippies and trip reports, so keep writing cause I and reading!!!

This is a picture of me in Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. We went there for my Husbands 30th birthday!

Next up in the cast of charcters is my DH. You can call him Jeff (30). He is the love of my life! We have been dating since HS and will be happily married for 6 years this coming July. He secretly loves Disney and thinks that Walt is a GENIUS. He is usually not excited about vacations, however he is excited about this one! :woohoo: YAY!! Score one for mom!! He is a thrill seeker and if I had to pick a favorite Disney charcter for him it would be Grumpy!! :rotfl2:
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/LasVegas003.jpg
Here is DH is the hotel room at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas!

The next character on board is my DS1, Jeffery (10). And it's Jeffery not Jeff. He is a character in his own right...funny, entertaining and all around talkative!!! The boy just won't be quite! :lmao: I truely believe he is going to be an attorney...will try to argue his way out of anything. He has been to Magic Kingdom once in his life when he was 5. We only spent a day there, because we were just passing through. Every since that moment I knew we HAD to go back to experience what Disney really had to offer. He will be super excited. He loves to watch HSM, Camp Rock and Hannah Montana. :ssst: SHHHH, dont tell him I told you that!!

Last but definitely not least, there is DS2 (4, will be 5 in April), Jahlil. He is my baby! Now I just don't know where to begin with him. He is the youngest, but is the terror of the house! :scared1: He gives his brother h3ll!! :lmao: He LOVES Disney! This will be his 1st trip to WDW, and I can't wait to see that look on his face when he realizes he is there!! Mommy has to keep a a secret for now though! ;) He watches Disney channel all day! Loves Playhouse Disney, Mickeys Clubhouse and anything Disney related!

Here are some pictures of the two of them:

Okay my fellow DISers, I AM SO CONFUSED!!! I am trying to figure out where we want to stay for our up coming trip. This will be the first time that we TRUELY experience Disney Magic and I am going crazy trying to plan. All I talk about is the trip and it is not until the end of August!!!!

So I think that based on what I read on the boards and looking through the resorts, I've narrowed it down to 3 places. Two onsite: POP and CBR; one offsite: Storytime Townhomes at Windsor Hills.

Here are my thoughts, if we stay onsite and they offer free dining this year, then that will be a PLUS!! :thumbsup2 We also will benefit from EMH, and the Disney transportation. Originally I was going to add the Water Parks and More option, but looking at all of the pools determined that it wasnt necessary!! So thats my benefits of staying onsite, which is what I can gather from the boards.

The downside is, I am not sure how long DH would last cramped up in a hotel room, with limited TV time. Now I would save money by going with staying offsite, but then I have to factor in food cost and parking!! I focused on Storytime, because I like how they keep the Disney theme going with the kids rooms. This will allow us more space to relax and be able to put the kids to bed without disturbing them. I feel that it is close enough and as long as we can figure out the short cut, we can still take a break midday if needed. Staying here will also allow for me to fix a hot breakfast in the morning BEFORE we go to the parks, which will cut down on the cost of food. :confused3

PLEASE help!!! I need to make a decision so that I can put down the deposit!!!

Ok...here is my 2cents. Obviously just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

I look at it this way, we have a limited number of vacation days per year so I want to make the most of them. If you have been reading my PTR you know that I am very budget conscious and try to be wise with our spending. I priced our first Disney vacation out a million different ways...offsite/onsite, car/no car, DDP/no DDP, etc. Here is what I came up with! Figure in the cost of the rental car and the price of the food since you can't do DDP ....what is the price difference? Now to that, add the time lost at the park to drive back and forth, time to go offsite to eat if you choose, middle of the day breaks are harder, parking costs, no EMH. It is different for every family, but for ours, staying onsite just makes more sense. We always feel IMMERSED in Disney magic! The convenience of paying everything before we go is a big deal for us. It is a little inconvenient to be in the same hotel room, but we found that we spent VERY little time in the room making that a non-issue.

Another thing....I don't want to cook (or clean up) on vacation! We made instant oatmeal in the room, brought small boxes of cereal, poptarts, etc. so we were able to eat breakfast before leaving for the parks.

Like I said, each family is different, but that is the reasoning behind our choice to stay onsite. Good luck with your decision...whatever you decide you'll have an AWESOME trip! Can't wait to hear which way you go! :surfweb:

He was making ideas as to our accomodations and things to do while we are there! :cool1: If you all knew my DH you would know that this is a major step for him. So DH, DS10, DS4 and I went to Kentucky this weekend to visit my BIL for his birthday. While there I was talking with his fiance about our upcoming plans for visiting The World. She was too excited and decided that they would join us!!! This makes for a party of 8!!! She has two boys ages 7 and 13!! I am too excited because this makes for an even better trip! She warned me that she is not a planner, therefore I need to plan and she will just make sure to be there. I hope all goes well with that!!! I told her I will make the plans, and I will not be upset if her family decides not to follow them! We will see. I am keeping my fingers crossed!! Okay now I need to REALLY focus on accommodations!!

Joining in on the fun! We'll be leaving the day before you guys get there. Hopefully, the hurricanes will stay away for both of us!! :goodvibes I am jealous that your DH enjoys WDW -- even if he's a closeted fan. :rotfl: My DH is not a fan, and I'm desperately trying to convert him. It's hard!

We're staying at Pop, and I'd highly suggest staying on-site. I know a free dining pin code has gone out, and hopefully it will be offered to the general public in April. It'd definitely be worth it for all you guys if it. Sounds like you guys will have a blast regardless. Look forward to hearing more soon!

Yes hopefully!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us. My DH is a big kid at heart...he thinks that Walt Disney is a GENIOUS!!! :worship: Anybody that can get people to worship and spend money the way they do even in the messed up economy deserves respect!!! :rotfl:

Well I think that we have made the decision to stay on-site. There are WAYYYY to many benefits of staying onsite than off. We can get comfort and space at home...we dont need it on vacation. This is the time for us to bond and truely spend time as a family!!! :grouphug: Not sure which resort yet...it will be value or mod! Don't want to spoil the suspense just yet...just stay tuned!!!

Has your DH read any of Walt's bios? I've started "Walt Disney: An American Original" by Bob Thomas. So far, so good!

Ooh, so happy that you guys decided to stay on-site. The benefits do outweigh anything else. Plus, I just love being immersed by all things Disney!

you should also price out renting out someone's DVC points and staying at one of the DVC resorts. It may be cheaper for all 8 of you to rent a two bedroom villa.

Definitely look into this! I've heard a lot of great things on the boards from people who've rented before.

:welcome: Space Command! Thank you for your insight!!! I was actually just looking on the boards to figure out the number of points that we would need to rent depending on where we choose to stay. The only reservation I have is that we will not be eligible for free dining if its announces!! :sad2:

Well I think that we have made the decision to stay on-site. There are WAYYYY to many benefits of staying onsite than off. We can get comfort and space at home...we dont need it on vacation. This is the time for us to bond and truely spend time as a family!!! :grouphug: Not sure which resort yet...it will be value or mod! Don't want to spoil the suspense just yet...just stay tuned!!!

Yay!!!! Keep us posted!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

And....wow....a grand gathering! Sounds like a lot of fun, but a lot of planning!!! Looking forward to the ride!

Yay Stephanie!! It's always good to have the DH on board! Mine is pretty excited too, and he likes to have input in the planning process...he likes to be up to speed at least! Planning together will be fun....it's always nice not to have to make those major decisions alone! Have fun and keep me updated!

Yes...he is not as excited as me. However he does make suggestions as asks about it every now and then. Once we have a solid date and resort (yes we are definitely staying onsite) booked I am sure he will put in a lot more input!

You're a Grand Gathering now!!

This is true...however I don't think that we will be participating in any grand gathering events. I know that I am a get and go person and I will leave everyone (just me and the children). LOL!!!

Hello fellow DISers!!
I know that you wondering..."well when is the next time she is going to post??" Well here I am. And I com with a MAJOR dilemma...WHERE ARE WE GOING TO STAY??? Well I have narrowed it down to two resorts that I REALLY like: CSR and CBR. I was really leaning towards CSR after reading Buzz's site. However after looking at Momof2Disneyboys thread/review I think I am leaning more toward CBR!!

So what do you think???

I really like that CSR has queen sized beds and new flat screen TV's. That is the MAJOR draw to that resort. The pictures of the grounds are BEAUTIFUL too, especially at night. One of the plus' (a lot of people will find as a negative) is that it is a convention resort. Which means less people will be there going to the parks and enjoying the pool.

Now for CBR ~ I LOVE the theming of the resort. I am an island girl (if I could live on one I would). It seems more kid-friendly with the pirate/nemo rooms, the new pools, etc. The food court seems better as well. I just don't know

I know that if I stay at one this year...I can always stay at another next year (we are planning a REAL grand gathering next year, it will be like 15-20 of us!! )

What should I do??

As much as I'd love to be able to take credit for your fondness for CBR...I've only ever stayed at POR!! That being said...I don't think you can go wrong at either resort. If I had to choose, I'd probably choose CBR only because I just love the Caribbean theming. (I went to Jamaica on a missions trip in 2006 and the vibe is unbeatable!) Anyway...good luck making a choice. Can't wait to hear what you decide!

I've emailed my BIL fiance to let them know that we have decided to stay onsite instead of at Windsor Hills...SHE DIDN'T RESPOND!!!!:confused3 This is another reason why I don't like to plan with other people and have my budget depend on them!!! Especially when someone is not as excited as me...I can talk Disney EVERYDAY, ALL DAY!!! :lmao: That's why I can't enough of these boards...I fel at home, because I know that we all have one thing in common: DISNEY!!!

The whole picking a resort thing is DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! I can't seem to decide. I am just going to call and book. Which ever resort I am feeling that day, is where we will stay. I am looking into CBR more though. I LOVE the pool there and I am sure the boys would enjoy the pirate rooms. We shall see!!

I have to hand it to you...I don't think I would have the patience to plan my vacation depending on another family member's input. I'm too much of a control freak....but on the other hand, I'm a people-pleaser, so I'd want everyone to be happy...ugh...those two things would drive me insane! I'd want to do it all, but then want everyone to love it so I'd need their input...man, I'd be in the loony bin so fast!!! And then with the whole budget thing as well....NO WAY!! Good for you for being patient and sane enough to handle it! :worship:

I guess I kind of didn't have the whole resort issue because as a family of 5 we only have limited choices. POR, a suite at All Star Music, two rooms at a value or the cabins at Fort Wilderness. Of all of those choices, POR is significantly cheaper so the choice is really made for us. Easy. My suggestion to you....have another baby!!!!! LOL! :lmao: Until then.....go with the gut and pick one....you'll be happy either way! :cloud9:

I never even consider POR...I may need to llok into that one more too...nah, I better keep myself limited to the two I have now!

:welcome: to my report. I am sorry that I don't post as often. We have been super busy at work and it is not leaving a lot of time for disney planning. I will know exactly what resort my the end of the month. My SIL to me to just go ahead and book and she will send me the money. In all of my email to her i always state "these are the plans for me and my family". I don't want to pressure anyone to do anything they don't want, however I am not going to deprive my family of anything either!!! :confused3 Thanks for joining!! joining in on your PTR. Hi Stephanie

sorry it has taken me awhile to come visit you but now I'm here and :yay: I feel so privledged to part of your 1st PTR, trip and beyond.

1st your boys and family are just precious!

Here are few comments as I was getting caught up:

You're a Grand Gathering now!!

I know you said you wouldn't be doing any GG things, but actually your need a party of 8 all guests over 2. But if you make 2 room ressies at your resort choice you can book both your and your DBIL's family w/ 2 sep ressies and credit card #'s you really can do it all through WDW w/ no issues. PM if you want some more advice before you officially book.

Be sure you request adjoning for rooms next to each other OR connecting for rooms w/ an internal door so you can move between the rooms w/out going outside.

either way your 2 ressies will be linked together. but you and DBIL can handle your indi payments etc.

Also not sure how you are paying for it, but if you have a Disney Visa card your deposit and room and /or package can be on your card for 6 mo no interest to help w/ paying off too. Plus you earn reward points can use this trip or save them for the next one.

WHERE ARE WE GOING TO STAY??? Well I have narrowed it down to two resorts that I REALLY like: CSR and CBR.

I think you've made your decision but w/ staying at both resorts now CBR (granted not in awhile) and CSR I would recommend both. Because just staying at CSR this is what I'd say for positives and negatives:

+'s: request a room in 4th floor Casitias to be close to the QS Pepper Market and El Centro bus stop plus those rooms are remodeled or request a room in the Cabanas they are between El Centro and the very nice Dig Site big pool, playground and arcade.

we really enjoyed the bus service here, as it was quick and unshared w/ any other resorts. by taking the park buses from El Centro stop 1) we didn't have stop anywhere else at the resort before on our way which was GREAT! the return stop was generally right there up front, never long lines or anything.

-'s it is large, so you can do a bit of walking if you are at the far end of the Casistas or in the Ranchos. The non-remodled rooms were a bit dingy like we stayed in, but the new remodeled rooms I'd pick hands down over any other moderate resort onsite!

Plus if you get free dining the pepper Market will be well worth it, so many yummy food choices.

Here is a link (ok that didn't quite work so sorry here is my whole review)to a post a did on my review of just staying there:

Hello,

we stayed at CSR for the 1st time for the week of 3-26 thru 4-2

My overall impression :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 (out of 4)

Our arrival: went smooth, I was unable to pre-check in online before we arrived but had a shared ressie w/ my mother and she did. So the CM had her stuff all pre-prepared in an envelope easy breezy...and I was able to check-in w/ her and it only took a few minutes for the whole process.

All our requests were met from my inital ressie (at the time I was unaware of the remoldled rooms so didn't ask and never changed it, thought I'd ask down there when we arrived if neccesary) we requested connecting rooms, ground floor (no preferred view) and near the restaurant.

Rooms:

We had rooms 1167 and 8 in Casitas 1 (non-remodled) so I was bummed (but wouldn't have known any better if I didn't know before)

our proximity to the Pepper Market and Cafe Rix and El Centro bus stop 1 was great.

I found the rooms a bit dated and a little dingy, but everything was neat, in working order and clean. What more can you ask. After staying at the POLY though last summer it did feel like a step down in regard only to the room.

Our rooms were ready at check-in so I didn't ask to be moved. We arrived at CSR about 2 pm if not a little earlier. that was greatly unexpectated and welcomed surprise

One negative note though regarding the rooms is the carpet must have been freshly shampooed and was still wet. I also noticed we did not have a no-smoking sign by our door...I never noticed any after smell....but reminds to double check that for furture ressies....I thought maybe.. wrong but that all disney rooms were non-smoking

room temp was a bit funny, but I think mainly for my DH & I we were cold when we first went to bed then hot in the middle of night....

lastly a few times the outside noise and room to room noise was a bit noticible, but it has been 4 years since we stayed in an exterier room (in comparrison to POLY internal room/hallways)

Food service:

we ate at the Pepper Market once for sit down breakfast, and 5 times for a combo of lunch & dinner. Our first visit was lunch on the first day and it was basically empty. We were a bit confused at the ordering process at first...but had it down by the last day. I found the kid choices ok as you can get...but it pleased my 3 older kids. and 1 night the manger allowed my DD (9) to get a house salad as her kid meal choice which was nice.

We had some great and some blah servers but everyone was nice and for the most part quick return on your orders. We brought our mugs w/ just about everytime and we had them labled w/ our names most servers filled them up for us in the right cups we were impressed.

The prices are high so I don't think I'd dine there regualrly if not on the QSDDP.

My parents ate at Maya Grill once and thought the place was very nice, they really like their server and the food was good.

We also got pizza a few times from Cafe Rix, my parents got coffee many mornings in their mugs. the downside here was so few snack credits. We got muffins twice.

Panchitos:

I thought the store was great lots to choose from we bought quite a few things. Package retrival was always quick and easy. we also bought milk here for our room which was only a large milk CHUG not an actuall quart but it ended up being enough the milk cost us 2.44 w/ tax so that is steep! we also on the 2nd to last day picked up a bunch of the small Chip & Dale snack co snacks as snack credits for snacks the next day at the airport.

The Pools:

we used the main pool (Dig Site) twice and the Casitas quiet pool once. Our
1st visit to the DS was good except that we walked the wrong way around the lake (opposite of El Centro) and it was long the 2nd time we walked the other way and it was better even my 28 mo old could handle the walk.

we enjoyed the pool, the older kids loved the slide and my youngest liked the kiddie pool too. Several in my group sat in the hot tub a few times too. and we did use the swim vest for my youngest which was good.

We checked out the playground but didn't really use it and we went to the arcade once.

Buses: was actually great

we waited at El Centro for all our pick-ups and only a few times waited more than 15 minutes as we just missed the previous bus....for the most part we always left for our destination straight from there.

Coming back the stops [ at the parks] were generally the 1st ones at the park which was nice and we barely waited, most times a bus was there or just arriving. I think only twice we waited more than 10 minutes to go back to CSR and it was directly back. sometimes we got dropped at El Centro first and others at Stop 2 when that happend twice we rode around and twice we got off and walked just a little further to our room

The only exceptions [longer travel and extra stops] were traveling to DTD and I think one other time have to check my notes.

Would we stay again or would I reccommend it?

Stay again? yes

Recommend? yes if you are thinking moderate why not stay here it's practically a deluxe especially the remodled rooms and it will be all done soon and if you are going to eat here alot be on the DDP though.

well that's my review. Thanks for all the tips ahead of time we had a great stay at CSR and WDW!

Now for CBR ~ I LOVE the theming of the resort. I am an island girl (if I could live on one I would). It seems more kid-friendly with the pirate/nemo rooms, the new pools, etc. The food court seems better as well. I just don't know

the theming does look cool as far as the pools if you younger DS likes are that squirting stuff then the CBR pool would be fun for him, by my almost 10 yr old twins loved the CSR pool and the slide very much!

What should I do??

Can't wait to hear which place you picked and what you end up w/.

looking forward to more!

Did you decide on a resort and book free dining yet? DH and I stayed at CBR a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful and quiet resort. Hello and welcome to ENYDisneyfan, Wendy and Tink! We have not booked a resort yet. Sorry for the delay in the PTR. This trip was not looking promising, however there is a glimmer of hope that it may actually happen! I will keep you all posted!

First off, I would like to apologize to anyone that has subscribed to my thread. I know that I have been a little quite and it's because I didn't think this trip was going to happen :sad1:. Now I am certain that it will and we plan to book AND PAY OFF our trip the 1st week in June :woohoo:. But for now I am going to continue to plan and prepare for our upcoming trip.

First up ADR's:
So we are planning to go during free dining and will have 7 ADR's to make. This some very minor in some of the report that I read with 21!! :scared1: I just want to get you guys opinions on some of the resturants that we are selecting:

Cape May Cafe
Chef Mickey's (dinner)
1900 Park Fare (Dinner)
The Crystal Palace (Dinner)
Ohana (Dinner and maybe brkfst oop)
Le Cellier (Dinner)
Kona Cafe (Dinner...but I really think I want to do brkfst)
Teppan Edo

So, what are your thoughts?? Any others that you think are definitely worth trying? Any I should eliminate? I know this is more than 7, but I want to have options in case I couldnt get ressies for certain ones. I can begin booking on 5/31 (I think ), so I want to be READY to call!!

Thanks for reading and I promise not to stay away too long! :rolleyes1

CONGRATULATIONS :banana::banana::banana:

Well as for your ADR's my family and I love Le Cellier, and Chef Mickey's. We have not been to any of the other's yet but for our next trip the list is growing....I have a feeling when you come back from this trip you'll be joining in on the 2010 trip planners thread with me and the other 2010'ers :rotfl2::rotfl2: after all you can't see all the Signature Dining Resturants at once...there is always reason for a return trip....I am so excited for you.

Happy to see you back and glad that your TRIP is still a go....

Those are some nice choices....for your ADRS...

KIM the early lunch hour sometimes offers the same menu as dinner and maybe easier to score a nice time too.

I personally love doing a mixture of B,L, D to get all the fun flavors....the only change I'd recommend is if you are willing to get up real early....try a pre-park opening breakfast say at the Crystal Palace...it is really cool to walk into a nearly empty Magic Kingdom :goodvibes

FYI...just one other thought....did you book your room ressie yet? You can't book 90 days out w/out one....:confused3

looking forward to hearing which resort too....popcorn::

Hi Stephanie and welcome back! I'm so glad your trip is a go! YAY!

Your ADR choices look good...I have only eaten at 'Ohana so I'm not much help.

Did you book a resort yet? At the edge of my seat waiting to see what you decided! :surfweb:

Don't be a stranger! ;)

Hello everyone,
I do want to do a early breakfast, maybe we will change to breakfast at Crystal palace. We will see.
I am sure this list will change as we really start may ADR's. Its so hard being the first trip...I am picking out resturants that I have seen on other TR's after I look at the menu.
Scrappie - I didn't know that I needed to have my resort booked first. Maybe I will talk with DH and see about making the intial deposit, just to get the ball rolling.
Tink - I am already looking forward to a trip in 2010...hoping for a bounceback offer in the room. :)

Hi Steph! So glad that the trip is a go again!! :thumbsup2

I was wondering about the ressie/ADR thing, too. Yes, they link your ADRs to your ressie number, so you need that first!

I like your restaurant choices... I've yet to eat at Le Cellier, Kona Cafe or Cape May Cafe, so I cannot give opinions on those.

Chef Mickey's: A classic, a bit loud and crazy!

1900 Park Fare: Great character interaction, fantastic desserts!

Crystal Palace: Love the characters; we do this one every trip. Both B and L foods were great... I agree with Scrappie that the early morning breakfast is very magical!

'Ohana: Dinner was great, awsome food, haven't done breakfast there.

Teppan Edo: Chef put on a fun show, good food, may have to watch 4yr old sitting around the hot steel table.

I'd eat at any of these again!

Looking forward to your resort choice...

Kathy

Hello Everyone! :wave2:
I told you I wouldn't stay away too long. No we have not booked yet!!! :scared: However, I only have 8 days left to wait...:cool1:!!! Even though we have not booked, I wanted to keep you guys in the loop as I was planning...because yes, planning is still taking place. So the purpose of theis post is to get some understanding of how to use the DISign board...I am so confused?!?! I want to make us t-shirts, but I also got an idea from Bentlygirl22's PTR about thank you cards too. How do I request a design and who should I use?? Do you guy's have any experience with using the DISign boards? If so, what are your suggestions and who do you recommend?

Thanks for reading!

Okay, I see no one has posted since yesterday, however I am going to keep on with the questions.
I have been debating about getting Crocs for me and the boys for our up coming trip and I just dont know what to do. I would definitely have to get the flip flop version for me because I dont like the original ones. Here are a couple that I was looking at:

For the boys:
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/60_1_blackred.jpg

You can't pass that up at $9.99

And for me:

I used the DISign boards to make t-shirts for our trip and it was easy! There are SO many choices, depending on what you want. Just go browsing over there and get some ideas...most of them have instructions on how to request a design. Good luck!

I got my boys the same Crocs..they love them!

I am a big Croc fan...so I don't think you can go wrong!

I like the green/orange ones...that's just me!

I have not "used" the Disigns boards but have been inspired by many designs and stuff...you can PM a designer too and ask for help!

as far as the CROCS....yes I am a huge fan:thumbsup2

Love them.

I have all kinds...flip flop and sandals. If you normally wear flip-flops you'll have no problem, the shoes are wonderfully comfortable.

I wore my Cleos and Patras everyday down there on my last 2 trips, w/ no major issues. If you don't normally wear ff's you may get uncomfortable in the toe area...I'd try the sandal kind too.

I'm not sure what stores are near you, but some big Sporting Good Stores sell a limited selection to try and on and get some more ideas.

and then when you get them, have you and your boys wear them all around the house to break them in....my 1 DD had some blister issues w/ hers this trip and did have to wear no show socks w/ hers but it was OK.

good luck!

Hello All!!
Well I must say that my dream has finally become a reality...I BOOKED today!!!:cool1: I am soooo excited. It was not supposed to happen until Monday, however we were able to free up the mulah to pay for the trip! :woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

So as you can see by my new ticker we chose....POP Century! I had my dream set on CBR, however in order to stay as long as we wanted AND upgrade the park passes we had to stay a POP. I am excited about it. I read some great reviews on the resort...and although it is no CBR, I am sure it will do my family just fine! We are going to be in Disney right? So how bad can it be? :confused3

We did get the Free Dining plan of course. I wanted to upgrade to DxDDP, however I felt like we would have been eating WAAY to much and being 1st timers I didn't want to take all that time away from the parks! :sad2:

 Oh yeah...that dates we are going are 8/29 - 9/5...so if that are any of you reading are going at that time...let's have fun and plan together!! We decided not to get the hoppers, but we did get the waterpark option...I am sure my boys will love Disneyquest.

So after 1 hours 15 minutes and 41 seconds on the phone...did we get the ADR's we were looking for OR did the STUPID system CRASH and leave me hanging out to dry....you have to stay tuned to find out!!!

Hey, it's my first time posting on this trip report. I love the red and white flip flop crocs! I've always hated the original crocs, but I might buy those!

If the ADR system crashed while I was booking mine I think I would freak out :scared1:

You're making me wish so badly that I could make my ADRs right now! I just want everything to be locked in place so I can say "We're going and it's DONE!"

Your kids are going to have so much fun. They are adorable!

Are your relatives still planning to go with you? We have been with a party of ten before. Having other people there to share the experience is really fun, although you will definitely want to split up for some of the time. You should ask your relatives what things are really important for them to see/do. That's a good way to get others involved in the planning process when they don't like to actually "plan".

nu2wdisneyw
06-07-2009, 06:06 PM
So the last time we talked about the plans, we were going as a party of 8...making it a grand gathering! :grouphug: Well things have changed and it will be just our family thats going...I think that will help a little with my sanity! ;) I am happy that we decided to go alone, it's something our family needs and we can really enjoy each other.

Now are ADR's. Well the same day I booked I had Ashby transfer me to make my dining reservations...I was already a week past due! :confused3 Well afer being on hold for 45 minutes, I was finally able to get through. I was able to obtain all but 3 of the resturants that I wanted. Can you guess which ones I couldn't get??? Come on I am waiting...

Yep...you guessed it...Ohana, Chef Mickey's and Le Cellier!!! :sad1: I am not giving up though, I am going to keep calling back and praying for a cancellation!! So as for the ADR's I was able to get...I was very successful with the times. So here they are:

8/29: Arrival - DTD, WPE
8/30: Tusker House, 8:05 am (wanted 8), wanted to do Ohana for dinner, but no luck :(
8/31: Nothing yet...wanted Chef Mickey's for dinner...they only had 8:45pm available
9/1: Grand Floridian Cafe, 7 pm
9/2: Teppan Edo, 6:50 pm (really want Le Cellier at 7 pm)
9/3: Sci-Fi Drive-in, 4:10 pm (wanted 4:30)
9/4: Crystal Palace, 8:10 am (wanted 8), Kona Cafe, 7:30 pm (want 7)
So what do you think? I tried to mix it up a little as mousescrapper suggested! Hopefully I will be able to score on the other 3 and that would be PERFECT!!

Your restaurants look great! The only one we've done is Sci-Fi, but I want to try Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's. Here's hoping something opens up at CM, Le Cellier, or 'Ohana. We did an 'Ohana breakfast...so FUN!

Going with just your family will be great! I love the time we get to spend together...it's one of my favorite things about WDW and the hardest to let go of when we get back! It's like you are in a little cocoon and it's tough to come out! We're so busy when we're home that the time we get to focus on just enjoying each other's company at Disney is priceless.

Can't wait to hear more about your plans! :surfweb:

I am excited about the resturants! I think eating is the thing I am looking most forward to!! :rotfl2: I REALLY hope that we can get the other three resturants, it not there is always next year!!! ;)

Yes, I have to agree about the family thing. My husband and I work opposite shifts (me - day and him nights), so it like we are two ships passing at sea. It will be good to just go together and not have to worry about making other people happy! I am looking forward to us just spending the time with my family, having fun and eating while doing it!! :lmao:

I love Crocs! Make sure you order the closed-toe ones a size up from what the boys usually wear, or they will not fit properly. If you go to the Crocs website, there is a "tutorial" on how to size Crocs. (Seriously!)

http://www.crocs.com/

They are also offering free shipping on all flip-flop styles for the month of June!! :thumbsup2

Hello Friends!
I don't have a real update...however I wanted to let you know what was going on with the with us. Well as with everyone else with children, the end of the school year is drawing near and we have been busy with graduations, ice cream socials and picnics!! Times like these are when I really with I was a SAHM!! :rolleyes1 I just wanted to share a few pictures of DS5 from his 1st year at school.

The 1st day of Kindergarten:
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7300607.jpg

Graduation Day:

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7300976.jpghttp://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7300986.jpg

And the last day of school:
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301015.jpg

I am so proud of him...I saw him grow so much this year! He started Kindergarten a year early...however I am going to have him repeat it again in Public School. I don't want to feel as if I am pushing him through.

Now DS10 still has a few days left...he is out on Wednesday.

Then we go to Grandma's, and they are staying for a few weeks! :sad1:

Well that's all I have right now. I will get to some serious Disney planning once to boys are at my mother's and I don't have to sneak around so much! :ssst:

Thanks for ready! :)

Stephanie,
I just finished reading your thread! Your family is beautiful! You will be very happy with POP! My dates are 8/24-9/3 at POP ! We are doing a GG with 2 other DISERS : ONETREEHILLADDICT, DISNEYQUILTER who are also at POP! Also another DISER you may see out there on threads ZEROTOHERO will also be at POP during the same time! I have a DD 14 , DS 10 , Baby Niece that's 2 that will be with us! Your ADR's sound great! I have done Cape May Cafe and it was great Character interaction was great there!, Chef Mickey's is a must do every trip for us your boys would love it if you could get it! We didn't get it this trip I called on day 1 at 7am and they were booked solid! You maybe able to get it for Lunch they have done lunch there in the past during FDP! Breakfast there is really good also! 1900 Parkfare was ok and your DS's may not like it to much since the charcters are mostly princesses etc.. just a thought on that! Crystal palace food was good last time we did dinner there it's been a few years no reason just exploring other places! I have leceiller booked this time for 9/2 our last dinner! Never done before! We have done breakfast at Kona and was great! teppan Edo never done! How about if you can't get CHEF MICKEY"S why not try WHISPERING CANYON CAFE at Fort Wilderness Lodge the boys would enjoy it! I would suggest where you are looking to get chef mickey's at least make an adr to fill the spot you can always delete it if you get what you want! I would secure a place and time just in case Chef Mickey's doesn't open up! Try the end of June or first few weeks of July alot of ppl will cancel during this time because they either can't go or booked 2 rooms and cancel one or can't make their final payment! You maybe be able to get something! Alot of PPL overbook adrs and finally cancel others and some ppl book deluxe and drop it before the final payment because they can't afford it and have adr's to cancel! BUT definitely SECURE something for the day you wish to do CHEF MICKEY make it the place you would like should you not get chef mickey as it would be rare for that to free up but it is possible! But definitely get something there! Like I said it can always be delted if you secure the place you 1st wanted! This is going to be a great trip! I really can't wait I'm getting super excited! here's what were doing

8/24 T-Rex DTD "oop"
8/25 Everything Pop FoodCourt
8/26 Tony's Good Morning GG Breakfast " 1ts tip included"
8/27 Safari GG "2credits but tip is included"
8/28 Epcot International Celebration GG "2 Credits tip included"
8/29 Rainforest Cafe at AK "oop" or CS
8/30 Tutto Italia
8/31 Grand Floridian Cafe
9/1 HDDMR late show at 9:30pm tier 1 seating "also 2 ts credits tip also included"
9/2 Leceiller
9/3 Everything POP

Why is he going to repeat K? if you don't mind me asking? :confused3

sounds like you have been a busy lady w/ so many things and planning a Disney trip in the midst!

Can't wait to hear more details...it is coming up soon :yay:

Hey Scrappie!
Yes...more details are coming soon. I promise!!:rolleyes1

He went to a private k at the daycare that he went to, so they tested his social skills the last summer to see if he was ready for private k. He tested in so he actually went to private k when he was 4. Well this year he is old enough for public school...however he is only 5 so they are going to start him in k (even if he went to the same private school he would do another year of k). It's fine because I would rather him have a solid foundation instead of putting him in the 1st grade and he is not ready. I hope this makes sense. :confused3

Okay so here is the dilemma...our trip carries us over the 1st MNSSHP :hmghost::maleficen and I am wondering if we should go or not?? I am sure the boys would thoroughly enjoy it. OneTreeHillAddict has got me seriously thinking about going. I think it would be a nice addition to our trip and it actually falls on a day we were planning to go to MK anyway (more on the touring plan later).

So what are your thoughts? Should we spend the extra cash on MNSSHP or the Waterpark option??? :confused3

So many choices...please help!

Oh wow! that's a tough one! MNSSHP or Waterpark option? HMMMMM this could be a tough one! How often would you goto the waterparks if you added the waterpark option? I went in October in 2005 and we did the MNSSHP and it was awesome that is the most talked about trip yet by the kids! It was awesome! And they got so much candy it was CRAZY! and good candy! I guess if I were you I would have to weigh my odds to see which comes out on top! Because going inAugust the waterpark option would be great but if you wouldnt go often enough you maybe better off doing MNSSHP! Having gone to the MNSSHP I would definitely say do it ! If you didn't do the waterpark option you do always have 3 different pools to Hop at Pop! You could look at it that way! Good luck with your decision it's a hard one! ;)

I still haven’t made a decision about the Waterpark option or MNSSHP…but the show MUST go on right?!?! :confused3

Well today I was trying to make a “mini” packing list of the things I need to go out and by in the next week or so. I have an empty tote that I am going to start to put all my stuff in for Disney. With the boys being gone until the end of July, I want to get as much stuff done as possible before they get back. It’s still a surprise and we are not planning to tell them until it is time to go!!! :ssst:

Well here is what I have so far…tell me what you think:

Over the door shoe organizer (an idea I got off the boards)
First aid kit (I just need to replenish…we already have two)
SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN and more SUNSCREEN
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Chapsick w/SUNSCREEN
Febreeze (travel size)
Purell hand sanitizer (big one for room, a few small one for parks)
Medicine:

Pepto
Pain medication (i.e advil, Tylenol)
Nightquil
Fever medicine
Benadryl

Wetwipes
Shoutwipes, or tide-to-go stick
Deodorant
Lotions
Aloe vera lotion
Powder
Bubble bath
3-in-1 suave for kids
Glow sticks I purchased these yesterday at Micheal's for $1
Ponchos
Mister fans
Beach towels
Card stock to make passports and autograph cards

I know that this is just the preliminary shopping list…I will start with the $1 store to see what all I can find. I want to make sure that we and not spending money on something that we forgot!!!

I am usually a last minute packer…but I know that I can’t be that way for Disney. I’m starting WAAAYYYY earlier than I have ever started before. Our bags will be packed and ready to go WEEKS before we leave!!

So tell me what you think…please add anything that will be necessary for us!

Thanks for reading…

Up next…cars, planes trains, oh my…so how are we getting there??

I followed you over from my PTR... Your kids are adorable... We stayed at Pop in 2004 and really liked it... It's a very fun resort, lots of bright colors... We were going to surprise our kids, but neither one of us can keep our mouths shut... :rotfl:

I love that you went to Vegas for your hubby's 30th birthday, my 30th is next year and that is what we are planning on doing... I am going to need all those yard sized margaritas to forget that I am turning 30!

Plans look good and so do ADR's...:thumbsup2

That is definitely the way to spend your 30th...we had so much fun. Definitely should have stayed for a week...we were only there for 5 days and I didn't feel like I got to see as much as I wanted to. However I am not sure that my liver would have handled much longer...the is deifinitely a lot of :drinking1 to be had in Vegas! :rotfl: I love your pictures from the Stratosphere...we didn't make it that far down the strip.

Great Packing list hun,

You may want to think about activites and things to keep the kids busy not just on the trip down and back but small things to occupy time while waiting in line at resturants etc....so I have listed some ideas below from my last trip
* I packed a small school bag for each child to travel with ( my kids were 4 and 7 at the time) each bag had:
Coloring book and Crayons
Mini Lighting McQueen and Tow Mator cars ( my daughter loves them)
Snacks
I also bought them each 2 Disposable Cameras so we could see what they saw from their prospective ..hmmm apparently my daughter sees alot of feet and back ends from her stroller view lol:rotfl::rotfl:
When we were going to a resturant I allowed each child to chose one item to bring with them and this helped to keep them busy while we waited for anything....in the parks we usually allowed one toy per child in our park bag to be honest with you now that I think back they seldom used those toys and "rediscovered them when we got home and had to un pack" they were always so busy looking around at everything but better safe than sorry ....

I hope I helped in some way

LOL - I know exactly what you mean .....tried to keep our last trip a secret lol the kids kept catching me mention things to my hubby or mom and would ask were going back to Disney....I did try to lie at first but gave up eventually when my son caught me filling one of our suite cases with items for our disney trip....already spilled the beans on this up coming trip .....guess some of us are just not meant to surprise our kids lol

I like to bring along a couple of night lights for the room... those heavy drapes make it very dark and Billy likes the comfort of a night light. (Plus, it helps us avoid stubbing our toes if we get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night!) :thumbsup2

BTW... I could never be able to keep my mouth shut about our trips, so don't feel bad!! :rotfl:

yes it makes total sense, I think it will make a great transition for him into the big school and then to 1st grade the following fall....

So what are your thoughts? Should we spend the extra cash on MNSSHP or the Waterpark option??? :confused3

So many choices...please help!

I think it really depends on like another poster said about the days....the WP option not only includes that but Disney quest too and in the past PI...so if you only go once it can actually cost you more than it's worth.

I'd do some of that fuzzy Disney Math :teacher: and see what your cost options are for each thing.

Plus JAT...but it generally is a smart choice for your 1st trip to try not to pack too much in, it can be a bit daunting and overwhelming all that Magic thrown at you every which way. I think you a re doing an awesome job planning so far, but I know first hand, how exciting it is thinking "oh let's do this...and this..." KWIM?

Shopping List....

looks pretty good so far :thumbsup2

in your first aid kit, don't forget moleskin for blister or red spot care.

some non-pershible easy travel snacks to have in your room in the morning or at night are helpful too.

also, if it is helpful, I think you have read it already but my packing list from our trip this past march is on post #164 I believe on page 11 of PTR portion of my TR link below...

So we were trying to figure out what would be the best way for us to travel…

When I first starting talking about going to Disney, I was looking at airfare (I knew my Husband was not going to think about driving)…I have to tell you I found some REALLY good deals out there. At one point Airtran was offering r/t for the 4 of us for $589!!! Unfortunately we were not in the position to book then so we had to pass!?!? I was bummed…to get to the Magic in 2 hours would be GREAT!! :thumbsup2

Well as we started discussing more and factoring in the cost of a rental car (believe me my husband needs a rental car) along with airfare prices now…it was looking to be like $1000 :sad2:. That was a little bit more than we wanted to spend.

We then started talking about driving :car:. Well from VA, it is a 13 hr driving and my Husband DOES NOT believe in stopping midway to go to sleep . So if we drive, it will be straight through!! That can be scary, but what we can do is split the drive. He drive for 6.5 hrs and me 6.5 hrs. Well I HATE to drive…Jeff always picks on me and say “what do you think you have a chauffer?”…well “YEAH, duh!” But I am willing to help with the driving…I mean he did agree to go to Disney…it the least I could do.

Another plus about driving for us, is that we pack A LOT…even when we only go away for the weekend!! So we need to take that car so that we can travel with EVERYTHING that we need. This will give me the opportunity to grocery shop before we leave and not have to worry about that when we get to Orlando.

I have to say I am excited about the car ride…We will have PLENTY of things packed to keep the children entertained…I think that we will be able to just enjoy the time together in the car!!

So I guess you can see driving it is!!

I actually enjoy driving to WDW. Although I swear, Georgia is the LONGEST state known to man. :scared: I love stopping at the welcome center when you cross into Florida. I also like picking up all kinds of different travel brochures along the way. Plus, you have a great point, you can pack everything you can squeeze into your car and not worry about paying for an extra/overweight bag! :thumbsup2

I love reading a PTR from a newbie to the Most Magical Place on Earth!!! I hope that you love it as much as we do.

Fortunately we live in Ga. and we drive just under 8 hours. It's not real close but it's easy enough to do in a day. We use the Florida line as our half way point. I don't think it is exactly half way but pretty close. I don't mind the drive because it is ALL interstate for us. I'll be making that 8 hour trip in 8 days. I'll keep reading your report. Sounds great so far!!!

Have fun planning.

So what did I buy this week?!?!
Well I spent a couple of days in a couple of the $1 Stores in my area to see what I could find…I was looking for some of the common stuff that I read about here on the DIS. The one things I am having problems finding at the $1 store is the over the door shoe organizer :confused3. I’ve been to three with no luck. My next stop is Family Dollar to see if they have them.
Well I did have some luck with my purchases…First up: Pool FUN!!! I got some Nemo Floatees, Nemo beach ball and Nemo goggles for DS5 and some Mickey goggles for DS10. There’s also some stuff for the car and HSM pencil cases (I actually got these from Michaels).
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301128.jpg
I orders some lanyards and pouches from EBAY…I think they were like $4/piece.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301125.jpg

I stopped at Home Depot to get my LGMH and I decided to get some stuff to decorate our window!! Can Someone please tell me how to make window clings with the designs I get from the DISign boards?
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301129.jpg

They had some glow sticks at Michael’s for $1, so I picked some up while I was there. I am going to get more from the $1 store…I saw that they had the swords and I want to get some of those.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301126.jpg

Today I stopped in the $1 and they had tshirts!!! JACKPOT!!! :woohoo: :cool1:These will be PERFECT to use for my DISigns that I have to make!!! I am going to get more…If I can get them for $1 I am going to make them 6-7 shirts a piece! I also picked one up for myself…they are Hane’s too…

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301124.jpg
I also got a couple of fans for the kids…I am going to get like 4 more. That way if they break them I am have some spares.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301123.jpg

I started to make up my Mousekeeping envelopes, along with my tipping envelopes for our TS meals. I am going to start adding $15 to the envelopes for the restaurants and $5 for Mousekeeping…that way we won’t have to worry about it when we get there.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301132.jpg
I printed out some DISigns for out pressed penny more…however they are a little longer that the tubes that we have.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/S7301130.jpg

Okay…It’s late and I have to be to work at 8 …planning to workout in the morning. We’ll see!!!

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days!! :rolleyes1 We took a quick trip to Rochester to take the boys to my mom for a few weeks for summer vaca!!! We also had a wedding reception to going to on Saturday....it was a beach theme and it rained the WHOLE weekend!!!!! That's Rochester weather for you. Hopefully I will have an update later tonight...I have a 15 page paper due for school by TOMORROW?!?!?! :confused3 I promise to update by the end of the week though!!

Wow...you are braver than I ever would be! I'd love to do a road trip type vacation at some point with stops all along the way to see the sights. But...with Disney as our destination, I think we'll stick to flying. My Jeff really hates long drives..the 6 hour one this weekend was about all he can take. :rolleyes1 And honestly, it's not the boys...they are good travelers. He hates the traffic, the idle time, etc.

I hope your trip is amazing, though! I'm glad the decision is made!

As for your purchases and lists...you look like you are doing a fantastic job! I did find my over-the-door shoe holder at Family Dollar. It also came with an under the bed storage bag and I think I paid about $3. I hope you find one...they really come in handy!

Can't wait to hear more about your plans! :surfweb:

Can't wait to hear more about your plans! :surfweb:

Yes they are still in Rochester...They will be there until the end of the month. My mother lives in the city right behind Franklin HS. Of course it rained the weekend we were there and the sun was shining bright :cool2: the day we left!! Go Figure!!

Our drive is much shorter than your's would be coming from Rochester! I am going to check out the Family Dollar this week!

Okay so now that I am going to receive some hefty cash for my "junk" gold   , sorry I needed to dance a little, I can use that to pay off the rest of my trip! This frees up that extra cash next week to make some purchases for Disney. Next week's focus is going to be my park bag and some clothing for the boys. Summer clothing is starting to go on clearance so it's the perfect time to buy. :thumbsup2

As for my park bag...of course I am going to have to go with the baggallini!! I heard such great things about it and I think it will be perfect for my trip. I believe I saw it on shoebuy.com for $38 w/free shipping!! Here is the one I want to get:

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/bagga121602_165952_jb1.jpg

I was looking for a neutral color, because I am not sure what my attire will be like for the week. I thought no matter what either khaki or pewter would work just fine. Don't really want to do black! :sad2:

I am also going to purchase the transfer paper so that I can start to make the boys shirts for the week. I am thinnking either 10 - 14 total. What's the best transfer paper to use??

Another item on my list to get is this:
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/307082_150x1501.jpg

I think that the price is like $239 or $279 at Target. I am going to check Costco and Sam's Club to see if I find one cheaper!! Being that we are taking a 13 hr ride...this is a necessary item. I wanted to be sure that it's one that plays two seperate DVD's for the boys. I am planning to make a SURPRISE slide show DVD for them to let then know that we are going to Disney. I want them to watch it while we are in the car!!! :)

I already posted the Crocs, so I won't post again. But those are on my list to get as well...

Oh yeah and this is a NECESSARY item:
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/9220229_ra1.jpg

I am in desperate need of a new camera...this looks like a really good one and it seems to get really good reviews. My old camera still works, however I want something better for Disney. I am going to give my other camera to my DS10.

So I have a LOT of money I need to spend!! :rotfl:

Yes ladies I am hoping for the best...I sold some broken necklaces and single earrings.

glad you both appreciate my bad humor :rolleyes1

One day I am going to learn how to multitquote a message!

the 3 little icons to the left of each message/post box...the one in the middle w/ the " quotes mark and a + sign, you click on each message you want copied into your post, the icon box turns red. don't want to qoute it after all...just click on it again. hope that helps!

They offered me $501 for my scrap gold!!!!:banana::banana:

OMG!!! Wow that is alot, good for you! Makes me want to see if I have anything around...

All your Disney loot for the dollar stores is awesome! I have that little sodoku book to for my son, he keeps it in his "traveling bag" w/ a highlighter, so if we are out or just driving around he has something to do.

Love all the shirts what a steal!

to your question about making window clings...I have never done it myself but mrsksomeday says you can buy the windowcling paper at an offic store, I'm going to try that idea one of these days too!

and very smart to put your tip and mousekeeping $ in envelopes ahead of time, I do the same too that way it done and you don't have to worry about being short.

I just love this stage of the planning, buying stuff crossing off your lists...so FUN!

Yes I was quite surprised with the offer on the gold...it was all junk! Now I am kicking myself for all the stuff I threw away!! :headache:

I will have to check out Micheal's to see about the window clings. I am going to the $1 store again this weekend to see if I can find more shirts!

Planning is SOO fun...:thumbsup2

Well I had to go to the dentist today and have a tooth extracted!!! OUCH!!!:sad1: I am in a little pain and afraid to take the vicodin because I don't like how they make me feel!! I just have to take it easy, that's all!!

On a brighter note...I ordered my park bag tonight!! I went with the pewter baggallini pictured above and it was only $24.70 on bagbuy.com with a coupon!!! :woohoo: I received that little tip from TarzansKat's PTR!! Thanks TK!!

Well I think I am going to bed now...I hope that my check from USGB will be in the mail tomorrow, so I can pay my trip off this weekend.

Oh yeah and about the weekend...it is a VERY special one for DH and I...our anniversary is on Sat and my b-day is Sun!! We were planning to spend the weekend in DC, however we are not going to stay overnight (need to save the money because we both want a new TV), but we will go to a lounge on Friday night and then drive back and spend the day in DC on Saturday! Hopefully the weather will stay as beautiful as it has been!!

Trying to get even more scrap gold?? :rotfl:

Just kidding!

I think you'll love the baggalini messenger bag... I've used one for the past two, no, three trips to Disney and it was great! The only reason I'm getting a different bag is because my pin lanyard kept getting in the way of the cross-body strap! It's the perfect size and has lots of great organizational features.

And I'd like to wish you both a Happy Anniversary and you a Happy Birthday in advance!!

Okay now I am done!! My weekend was great. We didn't do anything too elaborate, my husband and I just "hung out" with each other. We don't get to do that too often, being the we don't really have any family here. On Friday we went into DC with another couple...it was really nice. We went to a place called Utopia and had dinner and listened to a live band. Really lowkey spot, with a very mature atmosphere. It was reasonably priced...only about $90 for the 4 of us!! :thumbsup2

Saturday we went to Cheesecake factory and had a nice dinner/lunch. One of my FAVORITE resturants. DH was not too please with his meal...he had the steak and said it was not that great. :sad2: I didn't try it...but I love my meal. Of course we ended with a piece of cheescake to go...knew I wanted it for later. We went over my sister's for a little while, then called it a night.

Yesterday we got up early and went to Cracker Barrell for breakfast...the place was PACKED :scared1:. I have never seen so many people there before, we had to wait like 20 minutes for a table. Then we went to the mall and DH made me pick out something only for me...I am very guilty of going to the mall and buying something for everyone in the house (dog included) and nothing for myself. This trip was all about me and he made sure of it. Would not let me go into The Children's Place or Gap!!! However we did make a detour into The Disney Store...he knows that that would really make me happy!! I found t-shirts for the boys for $2.99!!! :woohoo: I got them 2 a piece and I think I am going back to get more. I also got Jahlil some shade for $1.62!!! Walked out of there with 4 shirts and the shades for less than $15!!! Then we went back to Cheesecake Factory so I could get another piece of cheesecake for my b-day cake!! DH couldn't believe I just didn't buy 2 on Friday!! We then enjoyed a quiet bbq dinner at home and went to bed!!

I will post picture of the purchases later tonight. Now it's time for some serious Disney planning...it so real now! We are actually going!!! I am so excited, I don't know what to do with myself!!

Hello Again!
So I didn't take a picture of the stuff I purchased from the Disney Store...for whatever reason I went to sleep at like 8:30 tonight...so mow I am wide awake and on The DIS :surfweb: at this ungodly hour!!!

I did make a purchase this evening. It's all about caputuring the memories at Disney right? So I thought why not catch it from all perspectives. Well I ordered this camera from ebay tonight for like $15 including shipping:

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb28/sjohnson71103/86ff_1.jpg

I thought it would be GREAT for Jahlil to use to take pictures of what he sees. I am going to give my other digital camera to Jeffery and of course I plan to purchase the Nikon L100 for myself. They have it on Amazon right now for like $219. I want to wait a little while though. We are planning to get a new TV for our living room, both Jeff and I want it so we decided it will be out Anniversary present to each other.

I decided that the binder thing is not working for me. I am going to use the Passporter that I purchased last year to keep me organized. I am going to start making my packing list this week. I want to start to cross things off. We get the boys back in 2 weeks and I want to have as much stuff purchased before they get back as possible.

I started working on the slide show presentation that I am going to play for them in the car. I need to add music, but I can't find any that I can download from the web. I am looking for "When you wish upon a star" I thought that would be really fitting. Do you guys know where I can find it? If you could help me with that, I would be truely greatful!!

I think I am going to visit the Photography boards to see what's going on over there. I need some tips on how to capture the best memories in the world. I wanted to get a new camcorder too...the one we have is ancient . However both a new camera and camcorder are not in the budget. I am just going to get a big enough memory card, so I can make videos using the camera.

I am getting so excited for this trip...it's going to be here before you know it!!v:banana:

If you have a public library, I bet they have Disney CDs. And if they don't, they may be able to get it from other libraries. That's where I get most of my music. And I have over 500 songs.... so it works pretty well!

So I figured it is time to start planning out our days…we only have 6 weeks to go!! Please feel free to comment and add any suggestions you may have.

Day 1 – August 29

So this is our travel day. Since we are driving, this day starts VERY early for us. Mapquest says that it will take us 13.5 hrs to reach POP Century Resort so that means a LONG time in the car. My DH is not a night driver, so this will mean that we need to wake up pretty early to get to Disney be the afternoon. So here is what I am thinking:

I will have the car packed the night before…of course we will have been packed for a while now (I hope). I will make sure to have the kids have their baths and sleep in travel clothes (usually sweats or shorts and a t-shirt), this will make it easy to transport them to the car. I usually pack sandwiches and snacks for the car, so we don’t have to make too many stops on the road.

Wake up time is probably going to be 3 am…we will drive straight through. DH likes to get in the car and get where we are going…no stopping ½ way, he just wants to get there. At some point we will stop on the road to get gas and have lunch, maybe somewhere in GA. That is to be determined. My plan is to have the kids sleep in the car until like 9:30 am (which is not hard for them). Our children are usually pretty good in the car as long as they are entertained. We will have the dvd player, psp, gameboy along with other in car entertainment to keep them busy.

Our hope is to arrive to POP Century Resort by 5 pm. My plan is to get checked in and unpacked before we head out to DTD. Dinner will be at WGP Express…the reviews on that place is awesome. Then we are just going to take the evening easy, check out the sites and hopefully be back to the room and in bed by 10 pm.

Next up: Day 2 ~ Animal Kingdom

So it sounds like you have it all planned out pretty well. My only advice is to play this evening by ear if need be.

The kids may be tierd - so if going to DTD seems like trouble the foodcourt is great and they can let lose a little in the arcade or take a little swim to relax before bed, or play at the playground.

Try not to be out too late after a long day like that, you will need plenty of rest in order to be able to enjoy touring AK the next day. Remember it is advantageous to get to the park at rope drop to avoid as many lines as possible during the morning ( this too requires an early start) , then either head back to the hotel for a nap and/or swim during the hottest most crowded times of the day...or duck into indoor attractions to take a break from the heat....practise this and you will avoid energy crashes and meltdowns....

Of coarse these are just my suggestions, who knows the boys and what they can handle better than you :) My kids are so excited to be there on arrival day that we normally head to DTD grab a bite to eat and head back to the hotel in bed by 8 p.m. of coarse it helps that we normally arrive around 2:30 so we usually have unpacked and rested a bit already....

I hope I helped some.... can not wait to see the rest of your plans

FUN!

I love the breakdown of day s and see what people have planned....

I agree w/ Tink though on the pp....take that first night easy and if need be just go to the pool at POP and let the boy unwind from an all day caride and grab some gub from the foodcourt...you'll want time to organize your room and have stuff ready to go for the next morning too.

whatever you do you'll be at DISNEY though! :thumbsup2

So my park bag came yesterday…I ordered the baggallini messenger bag in pewter. I LOVE it!!! I haven’t even pack it yet to see how the stuff would fit, but just looking through it let me know that it was more than enough room!

I also did a little Disney shopping these past couple of weeks. I’ve been picking up stuf like moleskin, sunscreen and toiletries here and there. I am going to have to charge my camera batteries so I can some pictures of the stuff I have so far. Michael’s is have a sale on t-shirt (2 for $5) so I am going to go pick some more of them up tomorrow. I’ve been on Natalie’s DISign page :thumbsup2 and I found a bunch of stuff I want. I am going to have to narrow it down a little we are only going to be there for 7 FULL days!! I want to start making the t-shirts next week, so that they can be done and packed before we get the boys on 7/31.

So I decided I wanted to give you guys a rundown of what out week was going to look like and then I will post or TP for the individual days…so where will our crew be??? Are you ready…drumroll please:

• 8/29 – Travel to Disney…no parks. And from your advice I think we are just going to take it easy at the resort today. Will give me time to unpack and decorate our resort window!! :thanks:
• 8/30 – Animal Kindom
• 8/31 – Magic Kingdom
• 9/1 – DTD, maybe Epcot in the PM
• 9/2 – Epcot
• 9/3 – DHS
• 9/4 – Magic Kingdom, MNSSHP???? I am still up in the air about the Halloween Party.
• 9/5 – One last visit to the castle…go home?!?! :sad2::sad1::sad2::sad1:

So there you have it…If we don’t go to the Halloween Party, I may switch my DHS and MK day. I would love to go to the Halloween Party, I just have to see if DH wants to spend the extra cash to do it.

So what else is going on?!? Well I have to say that I am too excited about the Pool Party we are having at POP party:. I was on another TP and some fellow DISers are doing a Grand Gathering together and decided that we should have a BIG DIS meet :grouphug:for all those that are staying at POP during the same time. When I say that the meet is growing…I mean it is growing fast. It’s going to be BIG and I can’t wait. Check out the thread here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2209989. My Husband thinks that I am crazy to be excited to meet-up with people that I have never met. He just doesn’t get it…tried to explain to him that we are all in-love with the same man (who just happens to be a Mouse!!!). He thinks I am NUTS!! :rotfl:

Well that all for now…I am going to soak my MHPC for my resort window tonight. Will post more tomorrow!!

Thanks for reading! :wave2:

Stephanie,

I've read about moleskin before. I was looking around walmart this morning in the bandaid section and I didn't see it. Is that where you find it
? I always get blisters at disney if I could prevent it that would be great.

Hey Belinda,
I actually found it with the foot cream stuff...like corn & callus remorver, insoles and stuff like that. Please let me know if you don't find it. It should be with the Dr. Scholls products.

• 9/5 – One last visit to the castle…go home?!?! :sad2::sad1::sad2::sad1:

:wave2:
Great Update! I really can't wait til this Pool Party! I guess we're going to have to come up with a date soon! I'm at 35 days! :woohoo: I got my DME tags the other day now I'm waiting on my resort packet from Disney! :goodvibes

So I took this quiz:
Which Disney Mom are you? (http://family.go.com/community/quizzes/who-is-your-inner-disney-mom-qz/)

And here are my results:

Your Inner Disney Mom Is Perdita from 101 Dalmatians

Whether you are mom to one, 15 or 99, there is more than enough room in your heart for all. You are always around to listen, to offer advice and to give plenty of hugs and kisses. You are an incredibly loyal friend and partner, and can always sense when there's trouble (you've been known to start a Twilight Bark or two). Your kids sometimes might call you a "worrier," but you are just trying your best to protect them against the world's evils — or DeVilles, as the case may be.

So what Disney Mom are you? Please post your results for the fun of it!!!

Can I just start by saying somehow I deleted the subscription to my own thread!!!! :confused3 But I am back now and I so excited that I have some new readers!!!

Well I want to start by doing a happy dance, because we are PAID IN FULL!!!!

Okay I am done celebrating!!! No wait...not yet:
:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

Saturday we went to Cheesecake factory and had a nice dinner/lunch. One of my FAVORITE resturants. DH was not too please with his meal...he had the steak and said it was not that great. I didn't try it...but I love my meal. Of course we ended with a piece of cheescake to go...knew I wanted it for later. We went over my sister's for a little while, then called it a night.

Yesterday we got up early and went to Cracker Barrell for breakfast...the place was PACKED . I got them 2 a piece and I think I am going back to get more.

I am so happy for you paying off your trip!!! :yay::dance3::woohoo:

Your trip sounds really nice! Happy belated Birthday and Anniversary!!

Hello Again!
So I didn't take a picture of the stuff I purchased from the Disney Store...for whatever reason I went to sleep at like 8:30 tonight...so mow I am wide awake and on The DIS at this ungodly hour!!!

The camera is so cute!! DD would love something like that too! The slideshow sounds really nice!

Okay sooooo....it's really time to focus on getting in shape! My ultimate goal is to lose 23 lbs. But my goal for Disney is 10 lbs. I am going to use all of you for my support. Welcome back!! So glad you decided to keep reading...not much going on with the Disney Planning...I do have a BUNCH of pictures that I need to post of things that I purchased so far!! As far as weight lose, I just need to get in shape. I know if I am going to walk 10 miles a day...I need to start training now. When the boys come home...I am going to have them walk around the neighborhood with me to get their training. It will be good bonding time for us!!

Before you were a mom, you were a superhero, so why should that change now? No matter how big the task, you bend, reach, and stretch to get it done. It takes a lot to keep track of a family that has so many different interests, but since you can do several things at once, you are never too busy to help your kids. Though sometimes you might put the needs of the family before yourself, you make sure everyone gets the attention he or she deserves. Just don't forget that even superheros need to take a break now and then."

Okay ~ so I started to make one of my many lists that I need while preparing for this trip. One of the easiest was my grocery list so I decided to get that out of the way. Since we are driving I am going to get everything while we are here, that way we don’t have to worry about trying to find a store when we get to Disney. As I pick up items from the store I am going to put them in a tote…I am actually close to needing another one because the one I was packing is almost full. So here is my tentative grocery list....

Milk
Water 24 pk
Bananas
Apples
Juice
flavored water mixes
Cereal bars.
Donuts
muffins
Cereal boxes mini's
Gummy snacks
snack packs – pretzels, crackers, cookie etc
candies
PopTarts – I picked up 2 boxes in Target…they were on clearance 12pk for $1.58!! Only bringing one on the trip.

So what do you think?? Anything that I am not thinking of? We are on the Dining Plan of course…do you think we are getting too much?? Well now I have to go and work on the many other lists I need to make!

Thanks for reading!!

Hello All!
Well they are transferring my son to another hospital for further evaluation...one that has a BIGGER peds department and a pedatric surgeon. It's looking very likely that he is going to need the surgery!! :sad1: I know that it is a minor surgery, but the ultrasound was very suspicious for appendicitis. Needless to say we will be driving out tonight. We have a few things we need to take care of and we will be on the road!!

I do have some BIG news to bring a little joy to this post. So ~ I get home today and check my email...there is one from Disney with a pin code to upgrade to a SSR or OKW Studio for FREE!!! Well I got right on the phones and while on hold checking the DIS to see if there were others out there with the same code. Yep, there were LOTS of people posting about the pin code...many of them with NO luck at getting the upgrade!! :confused3 So I began to be very doubtful that they would have availability for us either. The nice CM I got on the phone was not familiar with the pin code...said that it was one that just went out today. He first said that we could upgrade for a discount :confused3, I read the email to him that said FREE. He put me on hold for like 5 minutes...when he came back he sadi "You were right!" So he searched for availability for my dates...both OKW and SSR had rooms available!!! SWEET!!! So guess what?!?! We are staying in a 1 bdrm villa at SSR :woohoo:  :woohoo: ...the email said STUDIO and he booked us in a 1 bdrm!!! And Disney OWES me $3!! Tinkerbell was sure looking out for me today!! She knew that I needed all the pixiedust: I could get today!!

snack packs – pretzels, crackers, cookie etc

I think the list looks good, a few emergency and neceessary snacks plus a few easy breakfasts in the morning...but now that you are in the 1BR..you may be able to adjust based on how many meals you may want to make in there...like toast or bagels instead of pop tarts

You may not need the candy or gummy snacks if you plan to visit Goofy's candy shop you can get some yummies there and some things as Snack credits.

So with the change in resort...I am going to need to make a few adjustments. I am actually sitting in the hospital typing this, so I have no planning information here with me because of Jeffery!!

I have to say that I am excited I will be able to do :laundy: every other day and we don't have to travel to a laundry room to wash clothes!! I am also excited for the kitchen...I can actually cook breakfast in the room some mornings.

I am surely going to miss the pool party at POP!! :sad1: I know you ladies are going to have a BLAST!! Who knows I may just show up anyway!!! ;)

I was totally not prepared for this which...anyone with suggestions, please help me out!!

Well I have to say that I am too excited about the Pool Party we are having at POP. :rotfl:

Sounds fabulous.... I love DIS-Meets!! You are going to have such a good time!

Okay sooooo....it's really time to focus on getting in shape! My ultimate goal is to lose 23 lbs. But my goal for Disney is 10 lbs. I am going to use all of you for my support. If you take a look at my siggy, I have added a new ticker.....Please wish me luck, and if anyone cares to join I would love the company!! :rolleyes1

Well, you know that I'm there with ya! :grouphug:

.....they sent them to the hospital from the doctors office because they wanted to do further tests!! They are still in the hospital, trying to rule out any ruptures or appendicitis!!! OMG ~ I am loosing it!!! They have done a urine sample and are waiting for the results of his blood tests, before ordering a CTScan!!! I told her if it is appendicitis, THEY ARE NOT TO OPERATE UNTIL WE GET THERE!!!!!!!:sad2: I am freaking out...I am in the process of throwing a bag together for DH and I just in case we have to jump on the road. We don't want to go just yet and have it be nothing but a bruise...my patience is wearing thin....

Yikes!! How awful! :sad2:

Good call... better safe than sorry....

Hello Everyone! Thanks for the well wishes!!! Jeffery's surgery is done and he is resting. The surgery went well and the appendix had not ruptured!! I will keep you all posted!

Thank God! :worship:

And congrats on the awesome upgrade... you will fall in love with the DVC one-bedroom, I guarantee it!!

Can you still get in on the Pop Pool Party action??

Hey, we can plan together if you want - I'm just as confused on all this as you are. KathyRN, SSR is your home, right? Do they give you dishwashing soap, sponges, laundry detergent and stuff? Or do you need to bring things?

Hello Fellow DISers!!
Well we are back home and Jeffery is doing GREAT! He is healing well and is up an moving. It was not a very invasive surgery...he has 3 small incisions, instead of a one big one. I have to say that I am glad to be home!!

It was a great ride home and I am looking forward to getting back to my normal life!! Well when we arrived home I had to check the mailbax...I knew that Disney would have something in there for me!! I WAS RIGHT!!! I had Mickey Mail!! Unforunately it was all printed with my original ressie information. I am still excited none the less. Obviously, there was not much Disney planning this weekend...so now I have to get BUSY!! I just wanted to let you guys know that we were home and doing well!! I will post more tomorrow, or Thursday once we are all settled

So glad to hear that Jeffrey is doing well and recovering nicely... I had to have my gall bladder out, and instead of a big incision I got the laproscopic surgery and have 4 tiny incision marks...

Yay for Mickey mail!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

I have at least another week and a half I think until I can start stalking my mailman... I will say that the UPS man has not shown his face around my house after last time... :rotfl2:

As for your old reservation stuff, I think it's actually okay. As long as it's different online, and if you have an email with your update, you should be good. I had to call and switch my Magical Express stuff though - but you're driving.

I'm sorry about your son's hospitalization and I'm glad he is back home safe and sound. What a bittersweet day.

I found your PTR as your ticker caught my eye. We also were blessed with some pixiedust: and received the upgrade from ASMu to SSR - Studio! I'm currently on the look out for all the info I can find about SSR and have found some useful threads. They are...

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1913204 - great pics
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2238431 - great info from very helpful DVC members and others who love SSR and OKW

Hope that helps :)

Congratulations on 30 days

Hey Hun!

Whoa so much has happened and I missed it all , I haven't been able to get online because I have been busy working long hours so everything is done before my vacation ( going home to NYC for a reunion)

I am so glad Jeffery is ok and doing well, and that you have made it home ok. I hade the same laproscopic removal of my apendix when I was 14 and I cried all the way to the operating room....tell Jeffery that someone all the way in the Cayman Islands is praying for him and his family. It only gets better from here.

I'm so relieved for you! That is wonderful news!! :goodvibes

What advice, ideas or suggestions do you have in regards to SSR??

Hmmm, let's see. We stayed there in '05 and the resort wasn't even completely finished. I loved our location at Congress Park with a view of Downtown Disney (and an easy walk to the Marketplace!) :thumbsup2

Although I hear that the Springs section is also highly desirable due to it's proximity to the main theme pool with a water slide, and The Carriage House.

Many people also enjoy the Grandstand (the newest section) because it has a great little pool and pop-jet water play area and is also not too far from the Carriage House.

I remember that even then, unfinished, the resort was very beautifully landscaped and had a quiet, restful feel to it. Little "horsey" theme touches are everywhere, including a horn that goes off on the hour.

You know, the horn that plays at the start of a horse race....

Okay ~ so I know I said that my next post was supposed to be about Day 2 in Animal Kingdom...but I ordered Ridemax last week and I am trying to figure it out. Will work on it tonight and hopefully have that update for you. I am going to "borrow" an idea I got reading oregonmommyof2 PTR to make our TP for each park...take a look at her PTR to see what I am talking about!! It's really neat! :thumbsup2

Well today...while I should be working I am going to work on my auotgraph pages. I am going to use Natalie's designs to print out on card stock...that way I can easily transfer the Autographs to a photo book (I got this from someone elses PTR...but I don't remember who). I am going to do one book and just split the autograph cards up with the boy (since there are sooooo many). I purchased mulitcolored retractable sharpies for them to use. This should be a time consuming project. I was going to make the boys activity book...but the vote is still out on that one.

That's all for now...I am going to post more tonight. I promised to take pictures of the things I have!!! :rolleyes1

Day 2 – August 30th – Animal Kingdom Day; Park Hours 9 am – 5 pm.
Okay, so as promised like 2 weeks ago…I finally started working on my Animal Kingdom Day! This is going to be a VERY early morning for us, because with have a “date” with Donald & Friends at The Tusker House at 8:05 am.

Wake up: 6:15 am – have a cup of coffee and get dressed before waking the children up. I am sure that my DH will not be cooperative…he is not a morning person at all.

7:30 am – leave SSR and head to AK. We will have our car, so most likely we will drive.

8:05 am – Breakfast at Tusker House…I believe that we will be here for about 1 hr…maybe a little longer.

Now the rest of the plan is based off of information that I received from RideMax…please let me know if you suggest anything different. We plan to attend these attractions in the order that they are listed:

• Tough to Be a Bug
• Dinosaur
• Nemo
• Get Fastpass for KS or ride if there are no lines
• Free time for about 1.5 hrs before lunch…ride whatever has little to no wait times.
• Ride KS (use FP, if couldn’t ride originally)
• Lunch at Yak Yeti or Pizzafari (whichever the boys want…most likely pizza)
• Festival of LK
• Get ready for the Parade
• Ride KRR
• Ride EE

Depart the park and head back to SSR to hang out at the pool for a little while. I was hoping to get ADR’s for O’hana this night…but I have not had any luck. If all else fails we I will probably cook dinner since we have a kitchen. If I am in no mood to cook then we will head over to DTD to grab some dinner and hang out for the evening.

So, are there any attractions that I am missing?? I would love to hear your thoughts!

:) Thanks for reading!!

Next up…MK, I just can’t wait to see the Castle!

Did I lose my readers?? :confused3 No, please don’t bail on me now…we are getting so close to the gold. Only a few weeks left and I need my DIS friends to get me through it. Well as promised Day 3. I am going to try and complete a day/day this week so that I can get my itineraries done.

Day 3: Magic Kingdom – August 31, 2009; Park hours: 9 am – 10pm

OMG…this is the day I have been waiting for, for 5 years!!!:banana::banana::banana: I loved MK when we visited in 2004…I wish I could live there!! When we went in 2004, we had NO idea the size and the amount of things to do in this park. We didn’t arrive to the park until about 12:30 pm…I know, I know…that was WAAAAYYYY before I found the DIS. :lmao:

Well this trip we will definitely do things a little differently. My plan is to be there at rope drop. So I figured a 7 am wake up would be just fine. I mean we will already have our stuff laid out for the day, and the boys will have bathed the night before. We will probably do breakfast in the room this day…maybe some cereal or bagels. I want to make sure we are leaving SSR by 8:30pm.

Okay remember I am using Ridemax…so I am putting the attractions in order based on their recommendations…OH YEAH, the plan is to only attack ½ of the park this day…as we will be back later in the week.

• Dumbo
• Peter Pan’s Flight
• IASW
• Cinderella’s Carrousel
• Mickey’s Philharmagic
• Haunted Mansion
• Get FP for Splash Mountain
• Pirates
• Aladdin
• Free time for about 3.5 hrs; we will have lunch and visit some attractions not planned for the day, or repeat some from the morning.
o We may ride Splash Mountain…depending on the wait time
• FP for Jungle Cruise
• Dreams Come True Parade – this is up for debate…we may leave the park around 1 pm to swim and take a nap.
• Head back to the resort after the parade (if we attend). Maybe swim for a 1 hr, shower and rest for the evening.
• Dinner
• BTMR and Jungle Cruise
• Splash Mountain if there is time before Spectromagic
• SpectroMagic and Wishes (boy, I hope I see Tink :tinker:!!)

So those are my plans for Day 1 of MK…as you can see we have a lot of free time built in…DH hates schedules…he wants to take it leisurely. So I am just going to make sure we get the necessary stuff done first and then take our time. I just needed to make sure our plan was very flexible!!
Love to hear what you think!!

Thanks for reading…if anyone is out there!?! :rolleyes1:confused::sad1:

Yep, I'm here! We'll be there the night before... for the EMH. We will be so tired the next morning...

Did you get your new resort information mailed to you? Or your email confirmation?

I keep forgetting that your kids don't know about it, I want to ask if they're excited....

any progress on the DVDs?

Sorry Stephanie...I missed this post somehow...:confused3

my thoughts are below:

Day 2 – August 30th – Animal Kingdom Day; Park Hours 9 am – 5 pm.
have a “date” with Donald & Friends at The Tusker House at 8:05 am.

Wake up: 6:15 am –
7:30 am – leave SSR and head to AK. We will have our car, so most likely we will drive.

8:05 am – Breakfast at Tusker House…I believe that we will be here for about 1 hr…maybe a little longer.

I think your timing sounds just right on this.... if you want to meander down the AK paths to Tusker though and take some pictures...do so, don't fret if you are a be bit late for the actual ADR time...but if you want to be rearing to go a little after 9 am when the park opens I may bump up your leave time by a few minutes to allow for parking and walking and not feeling rushed...kwim

• Ride KRR
• Ride EE

So, are there any attractions that I am missing?? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Ok my thoughts are why is EE last?, who do you think will ride this? You really should plan on this much earlier or even get FP's for this!

have you checked out Steve Soares site yet for times:

http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/index.htm

this will help judge the times for the shows, (any live entertianment going on)

you're going to need about 20-30 minutes of wait time prior to FotLK & probably Nemo (I assume RM told you this) plus then getting out of those areas is a bit tight (FotLK a bit more so IMHO)... and then the wait time for the parade just to keep that in mind...

only other things not listed are:

the Boneyard? I think your boys would love to play in there (give yourself a good 1/2 hour in there

Flights of Wonder show...is nice, we like it, but Nemo and FotLK are the bigger shows

any of the walking trails or Conservation Station...

I think you can see alot at AK in one day, it just depends on what and how crowded it is, etc and the heat is always a factor here because of the green factor, I'd allow lots of water and rest stops if it is hot and do the outside stuff first or toward closing when it may be less crowded and cooler.

hope this helpful :goodvibes

sounds good...but dependeing how far up you want to be for the RD...you may want to be arriving at MK around 8:30 am...I've only made it to MK rope drop once (not including a pre-park opening ADR) and we got there at 8:45 but we're still on the other side of ther turnstyles and it still took a bit of time to get in...if you are going for the "Do or Die Dumbo" you want to be in front of those turnstyles...

Stephanie....this day looks FUN! You should be able to bust through Fantasyland in 1 hour to 1 1 /2 hours if you get distracted...;)

you can also bump POC to night too...sometimes it can get busy over there during mid day...and you want to factor in some browsing in the gift shop there...it's cool pirate:

Where are you going to sit for Spectro? take that into consideration of how long you want to wait...if you're thinking Main Street to not move for Wishes than 1 hour if not more...if you thinking of Liberty Square area and then moving toward MS for Wishes you can do about 45 minutes ahead...

bring some hand held games or activity books to keep the boys amused while waiting....

Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Still here Stephanie!

Your plans look good! I would highly recommend the walking trails at AK. The tigers and the gorillas are amazing! Also, the Boneyard is a great place to relax a bit and your boys would really enjoy it. Also, if EE is a priority, you may want to add it in earlier or get a FP. That one tends to have long lines for most of the day.

The first MK day is so exciting! I agree with Scrappie on the timing for Spectro. If you want to watch it from Main Street and then stay put for Wishes, plan on claiming your spot at least an hour before parade time. Get some ice cream or popcorn and just make it a fun people-watching time!

We did POC around 5-6pm and it was EMPTY!! Jungle Cruise is one of my favorites! And....if you can stay for the parade, I would. I LOVE the MK parades...they just feel so magical!

I'm so excited for you! :cool1:

So I figured I needed to get myself in order and plan out the things that I needed to do each week. I figured I would post at the end of each week, so you can see all that I accomplished…or didn’t :lmao:. So here it goes:

• Finish Touring Plans – print and laminate
• Create a master spreadsheet to hang on the fridge at SSR
• Start packing the boy’s clothes; figure out what is left to buy
• Start packing my clothes to determine what I need
• Get Jeff’s clothes together to see what he wants to take.
• Make t-shirts – about 10 total
• Make ID cards for the boys
• Make LGMH
• Finish making the surprise DVD for the car ride…thanks OregonMommy for the music!!
• Make arrangements for Legend…oh yeah I need to introduce the other member of our family.
• Rethink/write our grocery list now that we are in SSR
• Order trading pins from Ebay
• Gather all the PSP & GB games up…order more GB games from Ebay
• Purchase camera…and test it out prior
• Make journals for Jeffery…figured it would give him something to take to school to share his experience.
• Clean the house!!! I want to go through all of the closets and get rid of things we don’t need.
• Braid my hair…going to be too hot to deal with everyday.
• Get oil change and tune-up.
• Print mapquest directions to compare with the gps.

I think that is all…I hope to accomplish and finish most of the shopping next weekend. I already started packing the boy’s clothes. I need to get them a couple of more pairs of shorts. I am sure I am forgetting something from this list. Okay…I need to finish my TPs.

Thanks for reading!

Hey there Danica!
Yes, they mailed me the new resort information...I am sure you have yours by now too.

I am still working on the DVD...that was put on hold for a little while. My plan is to have it done this week.

my thoughts are below:

This is how Ridemax set it up...I am sure we will all ride...as long as my little one is tall enough. I will look into adding it earlier though.

have you checked out Steve Soares site yet for times:

:thumbsup2 for the website...added it to my favorites!

only other things not listed are:

the Boneyard? I think your boys would love to play in there (give yourself a good 1/2 hour in there

I am sure that we will venture off the plan...I think we will use it more as a guide than anything.

hope this helpful :goodvibes

You are always helpful!!

Depending on the crowd size...maybe Main Street. We will have the boys PSP and GB to keep them entertained while they are waiting for shows!

Yes, we will probably do a lot more exploring than what is listed...this is our first time going so I am not really sure what I need to add and leave out. Next years trip shoudl be a lot easier to plan!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
