There has been lots of chat about finding others to pace with for the race, so i started this thread so that we can see what time others are keeping so we know who we can hook up with. :) :thumbsup2

So, if you are looking for a race buddy - post here with your time!

I wil start, i am doing a W/R (hoping for 3 w/ 2 run) and hoping for a 14:15 (ish) pace.

I am doing a walk/run, mostly walk. I seem to be averaging about a 15min/mile. I notice I do go faster with a partner.
Anyone want to powerwalk with me??:cool1:

hey all! i plan on running/jogging at least 6 miles and then run/walking
my jogging pace is about a 11 minute mile if anyone wants to start out with me... im hoping the disney "magic" will enable me to run farther!

Ok pace buddies i'm going to fall somewhere around 9mins/mile. Guessing i'll slow a lot at the end so having someone there would be great for inspiration.

Thanks Stacyprincess:
My 2 DD's and I are doing a 10 minute run(10 min mile pace)/5 min. walk(15 min. mile pace.
That works out to an overall pace of just under a 12 min. mile pace.

I love that idea. I don't think I could run more than 2 min. at a time, but I have started to incorporate more running into my program. Wouldn't that be fun!

Iceberg... are you Megan? Let's all do it.

I do a 2 minute run and a 1 minute walk and will aim for the 12 to 12:50 pace. The race i did this weekend I did under 12 but I am actually going to try to slow down for this one. It's just too close to my last to push myself too hard so I might was well stop and "smell the roses"

.

I am sure i will be comin' and goin' near ya -- i tend to run at about a 12 min pace, and walk at about a 15:47 pace.. so i am sure when i am walking - i will be near ya.. I am also doing this with my mom and sis - i am sure my sis won't be hanging with us - she is faster, but i think me and my mom are at a similar pace.

I hope to do a walk 3 min/run 2 min with a 14.5 minute pace. On the treadmill, I have been doing 3.3 and 5.3 at least. I haven't been able to run outside because of the cold weather and then the virus outbreak.

I would love someone to stay with, but I am so SLOW I'm not sure anyone would want to stay with me. ;)

I am actually going with 3 friends but they are all much faster then I am, they are going to leave me in the dust. I mostly walk with a few jogs here and there just to speed myself up a bit. I average a 15 minute mile. When I started training this summer I was at about a 25 minute mile so at least I've improved. LOL

I've tried doing the jog 3 walk 2 or something similar. On the treadmill I rock at that. On the pavement I just can't do it. I can't jog that long. Sad, I know. I make small goals here and there. Like; I'll run from one end of a fence to the next, or from stop sign to stop sign. LOL It works well enough to keep me under sweeping time, although not much under.

I am mostly a walker (racewalker) but not out to break any records, so I figure to finish around 3 hours and 5 min. Pace around 14:30 or so. I'll be haning with Kim, Liz, Stacey and Brandi. (middle corral)
Remember that the whole part about Disney races is the fun!! Take along a camer and snap some photos. MANY people will have cameras. If like in January their will be characters along the way that you may want to snap a photo of.

Wow, Tracy- That's great time for "mostly a walker." Good for you.

I "dream" about bringing my camera and taking pictures, but I'm afraid if I don't focus I'm going to get swept. I'm hanging around the 15 min./mile myself, but I'm workin' for that 15.

Do you remember your first race, as a race walker, and what your time was? Did you worry about getting swept, too?

I guess it also depends on which corral we are in. But I plan on at least running the first 6 miles (hopefully the first 8 like I did during the full in January) I just have to keep telling my brain not to stop to walk (its really hard sometimes) But I am hoping to have a finish time around 2 hours 30 to 40 mins. My only other 1/2 was 2;31 but I don't know if I am able to do that although I would love to do it quicker (I also am a realist!! LOL)

hey TNT- i have the same idea... keep telling my brain not to walk... im starting in corral B maybe we can talk each other into keep running! lol

Millenium Mickey

I typically run between 2:30 and 2:40. Since it's my first 1/2 of this year and assuming there are lots of photo ops, I am thinking between 2:45 and 2:50 (12:30-13 min/mile).

I prefer a run/walk interval. I usually do 5/1 or 4/1.

Unfortunately we won't be able to talk each other into not stopping to walk since I will be in corral A - I have NEVER started that close in a race before so I am excited - hopefully that adrenoline will keep me moving. Good luck to you. I am sure we will be talking again before the half but I just wanted to wish you luck and pixie dust for your first half :wizard:

My pace is rather erratic...but I am hoping to finish in 3 hours. I mostly walk, but have been known to break into a run at unpredictable intervals... I am not so organized to do the walk 2/run 3 thing. On the treadmill, sure, but on the road I don't bother with it.

As for my first Half Marathon I completed it in 3hours17minutes. I was happy at the last turn around when I saw hundreds of people still behind me, so I relaxed a bit the last 3miles or so.
As a "racewalker" and actually racing other Racewalkers in a judged race I can get into the 13's in 5ks.

As for the camera, I took one my first race - you CAN do it! It will a be a time you will never forget so taking photos along the way will help you remember it forever!!

I'm here. I am comfortable at a 15 minute pace. I have been doing w3/r2 and last night I pushed it to 2.5/2.5 and felt okay with it. I need someone to help me stay up at the right pace when I am walking.

Hi all, I'm brand new here, but would love to find a pace buddy. I used to do run 2/walk 3 intervals but in my last 1/2 M I switched to 1/1 intervals and found that I went much faster... I'd like to finish in about 2:45, so I guess i'm looking for a 13:30 buddy. Anyone out there interested?

I have been thinking about my pace.... it's getting slower every time I think about it.

Really this was a "throw in" and with just two weeks between it and the last race and another one coming up quick in April.... I just am not going to push it. As long as I beat the sweeper :)

I think I am in the same boat as Tammy, wanting to finish in 2:45. I ran the Disney Marathon last year and finished in 5 hrs. I had planned and started to train early last year for the Princess but due to Mom and Dad getting seriously ill, then my father-in-law who passed away suddenly Feb 2nd, I have not been able to train.

So all you wishers out there, be on the lookout for me.princess: I will be in Corral B, Bib #3961. Wearing a small tiara (I am taking a dear to wear this from a co-worker, long blonde hair, wicked Boston accent :cool1: and a shirt that has a sneaker on a pillow

AND I need all of you to push me on.:cheer2: We are all one big happy family out there and need to push each other to go go go go and finish. :yay:

So Tammy, look for me and I'll run with ya

Joanne? The Running Princess brand shirt? Or is there yet another shirt out there that I need?!?!? :rotfl: If it's the Running Princess, I LOVE it! I have it in the long sleeve black t-shirt. Was thinking of bringing it with me for but if it's going to be warm then will just wait and see if they have a short sleeve at the expo. Great shirt!

Regardless of which brand it ends up being it sounds cool! :thumbsup2

Not sure which I'm looking forward to more, the shopping of the expo or the races :cutie: <<-- this smiley needs some shopping bags!

Thanks Joanne! I will have to check out the tech. Love them!

Caitsmama, Running Princess will be at the Expo :thumbsup2

As a reminder to fellow shoppers... the Exhibitor List is up on the Princes website, I think it's a link in the Expo portion but check around. At the bottom of the Exhibitor List is also the Speaker list, last time I looked there were no times listed for the speakers just names.

Joanne? Did you say you are not arriving until Sat, March 7th? Or were you referring to this past Jan? Anyways, if there was something you wanted to get there and were worried about size, why not try emailing them and telling them you would like to see it or pick it up at the expo? They might do it and if not it only cost an email ;)

now back to our regularly schedule PACE talk :rotfl: I had to look at the thread name to remember where i was LOL

My goal is to try to get Tracy in sight or at least stay clost to my Jan time of 3:11. I want to hit 3 hrs but I am NOT getting in any distance with these temps. not like i would like so it might come down to a head game. So worst case I want a 3:11 best I want a 3:00. With a field of 7,500 (I'm still YIKES over that LOL) and the size of the group I think we ALL will be keeping each other insight thru the race. I think we all will constantly feel like someone is there with us. It's going to be a good race. Scratch that. GREAT race! :thumbsup2

Hey Caitsmama, I am from Southie. and I ALWAYS ALWAYS PAHK MY CAAAH IN HHHHAAAVVVAAADD YAAAAD. :cool1:

Hey Diane, it was Jan 08 expo when I did the marathon. Had planned on this year, but my FIL took suddenly seriously ill.

The tech shirts is made of really great material. I am brining a blue under armor shirt, it depends on how I feel.

At last years Disney marathon, I crossed the finish line when the sole of my sneaker came off. This year, I am brining 2 pairs.

Hey Joanne!

I had a shoe issue in that same race! My 1st (and until 2010 the only!) marathon and at just over Mile 3 someone toed my shoe off.

I checked out Running Princess' website and see the short sleeve, I think I will pick that up while down there. Thanks for the heads up. :flower3:

Hey Diane
They have two versions of the short sleeve, one is the performance material and one is a regular cotton tshirt.

You didn't hurt yourself, did you? I heard a weird flapping sound and could not figure it out. then it came off, weird.
