Key West Fort Zachary Beach?

Hi Again:

More questions. Anyone know how far this beach is from the pier? Is this the one that was in a previous post as the best? I can't seem to find that one.

Hello Wendy,
The Fort Zackery Beach can be reached by going into the Southard Street Exit which is about hummmmmm 5 to 6 blocks from the port - (South) - in fact it is right next to the courthouse on Whitehead Street - there once was an exit to it just past Mr. Hemingway's house, but I believe it is now closed - things change daily in Key West so who know what the new schedule is from day to day. When are you cruising? I will be in Key West next month for 4 days checking up on my uncle - if anyone wants me to check into something special for them just write me at snelsonbrown@aol.com - also I do have pamplets at the shop that you are most welcomed to at no charge -
I believe one of the nicest part of the beach in KW is located at Casa Marina - the beaches at one time were beautiful in KW - now forget it - they are very neglected - they have been very abused - and just not even what I grew up with - officials in KW should hold their head in shame - anyhow just my thoughts of an old Key West conch.

Thanks Shirley. We were thinking of going on a picnic somewhere in Key West. We are not cruising until Mar 1, but I am keeping myself busy learninng everything before hand. Also, how far in advance could I order a couple of gift baskets? I've been on your web site. Very nice.

The area you picked is not bad for a picnic - in all honesty, the beaches just aren't that great - they once was, but not anymore - all the beaches were man-made except the Rest Beach which hardly exist any longer - this is where I went as a child and it was great -also South Beach - anyhow call me anytime and I will send you some info on KW - also I will be going down there next month and if there is anything I can find out for you - let me know and will do so.
Meanwhile have a wonderful time getting ready for your cruise.
