View Full Version : Are you waiting for free dining?
I want to know if I am the only one wishing and hoping and praying for free dining. I am hoping that free dining is announced for dates that I can work with.
Are there any speculations as to when they will offer it ( early April as usual) and what the dates will be? Or maybe your hopes of what the dates will be.
I am hoing for Aug. 20th or there abouts, how about you?

I think the speculation is that free dining will start Aug 16th this year - the 4 for 7 ends on August 15th.

I'm guessing that the offer will be the same as in previous years and will come out in early April. I'm hoping I can get it at Pop for the week leading into Labor Day.

I too am waiting with great anticipation for the free dining plan to be released. I will start paying close attention after March 29th when the 4/3 deal ends. We are hoping to get the POP century for 9/12-9/20 or maybe add a couple days to that if we determine it is financially viable. I'm certain that we are not alone in our nail biting anticipation.

No. I'm not waiting. My trip is booked and paid off. I don't mind paying for dining since I'll be at Disney! :cool1:

Hi! I'm also hoping to be there August 23-29 with free dining. I have the pin just waiting for tax return info. We would be at POR.
I don't know if anyone can help but I have a posting question. For some reason I don't have the post reply option. I have to switch between threaded mode and linear mode to post replies. Can anyone help?

We are booked at POFQ 9/14/09 to 9/24/09 at 40% off. We are planning on switching to a value resort for the first 4 or 5 days if FD is offered. It makes sense financially for us only at a value but I'm not willing to give up my entire stay at POFQ.
We did FD in 2005 and 2006 and loved it.

I'm waiting too! We went last year and had a bounceback offer, but didn't book it for various reasons. Now, we've decided to go back and I am so mad at myself for not booking then! I get so stressed out waiting for this, even though i know it will likely be offered. I just don't want to miss out! This will be our 3rd time to go for free dining and we love it!

How are the crowds during free dining? Is it really that hot?

We've used the free dining plan in the past and it was GREAT! I'm hoping & curious to see with all of the deals Disney is throwing out there, if they would sweeten the deals in late August - September with the free dining + possibly more. Doubt it, but that would be great.

My guess is it will be starting 8/23 and ending about 9/24 ,different start and finish dates from the bounceback from last year and the pincode.
I also have a Disney Visa and hope to book as soon as it is announced
for December free dining. We took advantage of it last year for November, but I want December this year. If I don't get it we can't go. I'm really depending on it.
I'll be having a much longer wait then all of you going in August and September. I know it was only offered once last year for certain special months and dates, but I want it real bad this year.

Bete, I am with you in wanting Free Dining in December. I am booked in the first week with the 40% code but I want MORE! :cool1: I understand that last year some folks got a room discount in addition to the FD.
Maybe us two Hoosiers will meet there this year and with the best of deals?

Do you have to book a minimum number of days to get free dining?

I too am waiting/praying/wishing/hoping that they offer free dining again this year. We booked a trip last year with free dining but had to cancel it!!! :sad2: I am wondering if I book my reservation now, can I call back and have the free dining added?? I am also interested in booking at CBR, are they usually included in the free dining promotion??

You can call and have it applied to an existing resi. Technically you cancel your resi and rebook but all money payed will be put toward your new resi.
as far as CBR I would think a regular room ( not pirate room) would be included (maybe the pirate room)

Count me in as someone else who's anxiously awaiting the release of free dining for late August. No free dining = no trip for us, as we were already there last month so a second vacation in one year has to be of the budget variety (free dining and a value resort).
Plus, we need something to help offset our plunging Canadian dollar value :scared1: .
    C'mon, free dining!!!

Really wanted free dining, but our trip will start Oct 1st -Oct 3rd for 7 nights. Unless they extend it to Oct 1st, I'll miss out. Maybe Disney Visa dates will be what I need.

I called today and got my reservation number for my trip and asked if they were gonna do free dining. I was told don't rule it out and maybe wait awhile to add dining to your trip. I am looking at All Star Movies September 19th-26th. Please, if I missed something or misundersood what I was being told, let me know. I can always add dining plan later. Still waiting to put Deposit down.

You can call and book now but Calling ahead and hoping to add free dining offers NO ADVANTAGE. First , if they already have enough bookings for a specific time frame at a specific resort, there is no need to offer free dining. Second, the rooms that are eligible for free dining are not unlimited, nor do they come from the same pool of rooms for general bookings.Promotional rooms are a set number per resort, per resort category, per time frame. When they are gone they are gone.So even booking now and just calling back when it is released may or may not help you. There are many people that have not had a problem doing just this.Others ( at more popular resort choices) were told their resort choice, or dates were sold out, and they needed to change resorts or dates. My advice, if you know you are going regardless of any discounts.Book it. If you are only going to go if free dining is available, wait.

I have my flights booked - Aug 29 - Sept 6. If Free Dining isn't offered - we will likely switch it up to offsite and maybe do SeaWorld with a few days at WDW. I hope not though - I already have all my meals planned (well, almost at least). We hope to stay at POP.
AND...we will have a Grand Gathering if it is released. 1 other family is likely in but 1 family is only in if the Free Dining is available.
Keeping my fingers crossed...

Yes you can book now and have a code applied (like previous posters said if that resort is available). If you book a room only...that requires a one night deposit. If you book a package that is a $200 deposit. If you book a room only now and then want to add on free dining in the future...just be aware that they will need a new deposit to switch it to a package. So you will be refunded your one night deposit and you need to pay the $200. If you book a package now then you won't need to do anything money wise. Some people aren't aware of that. Just FYI..:goodvibes

I am hoping to convince DH into another trip over labor day if free dining promo comes out. It saves my family a ton as there are 6 of us! (Last year we stayed POR for 10 nights on FD--$1400 saved!) I will probably plan 4-5 nights...we will have to wait and see-I will probably try to stay 2 rms at ASMusic...If I could only find some cheap flights from NH for a holiday weekend!
has anyone heard any rumors of free Dining?

Hoping for Free Dining too. We have used it 2 times now and loved it. I am just wishing that I would have tried to book a bounceback offer last September.
Good luck everyone!:cheer2:
