Great update!! I think if I had been in the theater, I would have started clapping or something!! My own son is thinking of the ROTC/ army as well, so this has certainly been on my own mind a lot lately. I find myself asking some hard questions (to myself) including, "am I ready to let lose my own son, to the cause of freedom?" Not an easy one to answer!!

VoLib. is at the very top of my list of to-do's in WS. I just missed them last trip! Rats!

I love that Danielle didn't go there to learn! I can't think of a better place to learn.

I'm re-reading a series called Prelude to Glory. There's 7 (I think) in the series...and they are huge hardbacks. The author does a great job of sprinkling "real" people and using fictional characters to tell about actual events. And while there's alot about the logistics of the war, it's easy to read because of the characters.

I'm going back to school in January to get my bachelors in History. I bet you couldn't tell it's my favorite subject...next to disney.:rotfl2:

I love history and reading. I'm reading a series of books right now that started in Scotland and now it's the American Revolution.

I'll have to keep an eye out for the Prelude series.

I'm in the middle of the last one. I thought she wasn't writing anymore in the series so I got a good surprise when I went to the book store for The lost symbol and saw her new book.

Great pictures with the characters...I like the various poses. MIL's picture with Snow White was nice too!

Your update made me cry and laugh. I loved the pictures of Bailee and the mice. It brought out the little girl in her. I know she is still a little girl but you know what I mean, I hope. I have to share a story with you about Grace. Sunday she kept telling me she wanted to wear her lion dress. I made her show me what she was talking about. It was a dress I made her to wear to Animal Kingdom on our last trip. I put it on her and she immediately picked up a toy and said, " And I am taking this with me too." I asked her where we were going and she said, "Disney World". I told her that we couldn't go today and she cried. She cried all afternoon. At one point she came up to me and said, " Moma, Snow White, Cinderella, and Mickey Mouse live there. I LOVE those people insert sob sob sob here." LOL! I don't know what I could say to that. Poor little baby. She has the Disney bug like her moma.

I was going to comment on the couple in the background too. I see I wasn't the only one wondering about them. :lmao:

It makes me wonder.....do they think no one can see them?? They are DIRECTLY behind where the photo is being taken. :confused3

Ok...here goes.... my lovely, beautiful, happy, intelligent children and my nephews think it is very funny to pose with other people in pictures. :confused3

I think at first it started out accidentally and it was funny that they ended up in someones picture... but then it became a very common thing with them. So if they are standing somewhere or sitting somewhere and someone takes a picture with them in the background... they pose!

No matter what we say or do, we catch them doing it. They say,"We were there already and no one asked us to move and they decided to take a picture so they obviously wanted one of us." :scared1:

I feel so blessed to live in a time where the majority of our men didn't have or need to serve. And when you think about it, it's amazing that there didn't have to be a draft durring WWII because so many volunteered.

It's funny how you can be going along feeling stressed and sorry for yourself....as if the entire world is on your shoulders.

And then BAM...Emeril Lagasse appears............just kidding.

You get an [E.L. free] BAMM that slaps you in the face and makes you realize how good you have it.

I've been worried about a child who won't do their homework or does it and then doesn't turn it in......remodeling the house and living without a kitchen for awhile...D.Jay still not having a job....and alot of other mini dramas.

This morning I was headed out of town with a group of friends when I got a text from my mom that was my BAM moment....Oprah has "aha" moments....I guess mine are a little more violent.

The text read...."please pray for Dani...she's bleeding".

Those of you who have followed my tr's know the saga my sister has gone through....2 appearances of cervical cancer....treatments....told she would have a hard time having a baby....got pregnant....gestational diabetes and gall stones.....she was a mess for about 7 of the 9 months. We were all so excited and relieved when we welcomed her little Kaylie into the world... About 4 months later the cancer cells were back.....with each treatment her chances of concieving and maintaining a pregnancy get slimmer.

After a year of trying, I got the wonderfull news that she's expecting again. We've all been a little nervous just because of all she went through last time.

I spent my day praying and a nervous wreck....I was trying to figure out if I'd drive or fly down if she needed me.

As of now she's supposed to take it easy and see what happens. So far she's ok, but it kills me that I'm 11 hours away.

Ugh, Winkers... I hope everything works out alright... I have had cancer cells removed 3 times all after having Alec but before Tailor... The docs were not sure my cervix could handle the pregnancy... I spent more time in the hospital than I did at home that 9 months... By the time I was 4 months along I was dilated to 3 centimeters... I had to have steroid injections to make sure Tailor's lungs were developed enough cause I kept going into early labor... Go figure, they ended up having to induce me! :confused3

I'm so sorry I didn't see this last night, I was getting messages all night that the board was down for maintenance so actually paid Jeff some attention all night.

RL really does slap you upside the head sometimes and put it in perspective. I am so sorry and really hope it will be ok.

I bled for 6 weeks with Evan. Not the same situation at all but I know how stressful it is.

Praying for Dani

Is Jeff responsible for the dis being down?:rolleyes1

With all of the things that can go wrong it is truly a miracle every time a healthy baby is born. I worked in L&D as a cna and I couldn't believe all the little things that can make a huge difference. It was the happiest and saddest place to work all at the same time.

Nah, he's not that savvy.

I can only imagine, that would be a hard place, and incredibly rewarding place to work!

I am going to pray for your sister too. I was so scared the whole time I was pregnant with Grace. I guess it was because it took nine years to get pregnant and I knew my chances were slim to none if I lost the baby to get pregnant again. I would put my hand on my stomach and say the Bible verse "Every good and perfect gift is from above." . I did this every day and sometimes more. Two times when I was worried because something was wrong I got a card from someone that had that scripture on it. I had not told anyone about my praying it over my belly everyday. It was so neat. Just pray for her and we will be praying along with you.

OK, lets try this again! Having used up all my "funny" on the lost update, this one won't be as good.

The others were still on their Kim possible mission so Bailie and I headed for France because I needed to pick up some perfume. The France pavilion is the only place I can get my favorite scent anymore.
Another perfect excuse for annual trip.....now that's some expensive perfume.

As we were bidding farewell to France...and smelling like we'd been attacked by the perfume ladies at Macy's..we had some photopass pictures done.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/photopass/image231.jpg

It wasn't bad enough that she had to be seen in public with me....she had to pose like this....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/photopass/image236.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/photopass/image238.jpg

Getting into the position was the easy part.....thank heavens he didn't take any of me getting out of it!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/photopass/image245.jpg

She was embarassed to point into the sky, yet had no problem with this..

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02445.jpg

We stopped by Morroco to see Genie and Jasmine. Bailie agreed to only if she didn't have to stand by Genie because he "creeps her out".

The little girl in front of us obviously felt the same way. She wouldn't even go near Jasmine untill Genie went and hid in a closet. It was really cute.

Standing next to a princess in a bikini and a giant blue guy with a waist smaller than you....isn't a great self esteem boost.

I guess I serve as a warning of what happens when you eat one too many pieces of cheesecake.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/photopass/image251.jpg

Our next stop was England where we met the guys to watch the Beatles show.
Now what I'm going to tell you is really pathetic...I know shocking...but I was as excited as if they were the real thing.
My dad is a huge fan so I grew up listening and loving them and I've passed it down to the kids. Hunter especially.

While I was singing along and trying to not look too excited, D.Jay nudged me and pointed out a little sideline show.
There was this lady[ with funky colored blonde hair, wearing head to toe skin tight bright pink, stilleto hills and had long sense been a member of AARP] doing a pole dance with the light post. I mean she was INTO it!

I felt a little embarassed for her because alot of people were watching her with looks of shock on their faces.

She looked like she was having so much fun, I decided to join her and worked my own lightpost.....
Ok, I'm not THAT crazy!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02449.jpg

Afterwards as we were leaving England we saw a short line for pictures with the Beatles. This is where I got really excited. I felt like a 4 yr old meeting her favorite princess for the 1st time, must feel. I felt as giddy as a preteen meeting the Jonas Brothers......

they started to talk to me and I swear it sounded like the adult voice on Charlie Brown. I know I responed, but I'm not sure what I said. Hopefully the words I, Love, and You weren't involved.

They probably remember me as the crazy lady who smelled like the perfumery exploded...

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02456.jpg

My dad is a huge fan so I grew up listening and loving them and I've passed it down to the kids. Hunter especially.

I'm a huge Beatles fan too, but haven't caught this show yet. Like you, I've been able to pass Beatle fan-dom on to my kids. They have little choice -- I just barrage them with it (George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" cd is in our cd player right now!) I've seen Paul McCartney in concert 3 times, and I think that next time, if there is a next time, I'll have to take the kids.

While I was singing along and trying to not look too excited, D.Jay nudged me and pointed out a little sideline show.

Our city has a concert in the park series every summer and about every other year there is a beatles tribute band that comes. They do a great job. I think Hunter was 8 before he understood that he hadn't actually seen the beatles!

Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy......

Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don't worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy (now).....

There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don't worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is
Don't worry, be happy

I think I need it as a ringtone....

All this stripper talk is reminding me of my BIL's wedding...

His bride's aunt showed up in her stripper wear... She was like 57, and she was wearing a tube top, that showed all the stretch marks from the 7 kids she had given birth to, a VERY short skirt that showed her butt cheeks, and the stripper heels... You know, the 4 inch clear ones... :rolleyes1 And she was dancing like she was still at work...

She asked my other BIL if he wanted to dance and he just stood there with the deer in the head lights look and his wife piped up with an, "I don't think so..."

After my kids lesson in pole dancing and my school girl meeting with the Beatles it was time to head to Japan. The kids had another "mission" but my feet were KILLING me. So, I opted to watch the drummers while everyone else ran around.

I love these guys! I could watch them for hours. I found myself a bench and propped my foot up. Only this type of pain would be reason to go through the surgery and month in bed.

Once I was all comfy and the trobbing was starting to calm a nice man decided to come and stand directly in front of me.:confused3 Seriously? It's inconsiderate people like that, that drive me crazy.
Not wanting to have to ask the guy to move, I cleared my throat attempting to get his attention. Nothing. I had a spontaneous coughing fit. Nada. I grabbed MIL's cane and whacked him behind the knees....ok, so I just thought about doing that. I said "excuse me" several times. obviously his lights were on but nobody was home.

I finally, stood up and tapped him on the shoulder and asked him politely to remove his butt from my view. He looked at me like "huh". I think he must have been hit by the stupid stick that morning.

After a 5 minute pantomime of my situation and where his butt fit into it, he finally got the message and moved a fraction of an inch to the side.

While leaning to the right and nearly falling off the bench, I was able to get this picture.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02461.jpg

soon the family came back and we were on our way to Tepan Edo. This is one of our favorties. We were excited for MIL to experience it.

Before we went inside.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02468.jpg

I looked at all those steps leading to the restraunt and my foot refused to go any further. It said "I don't think so" and walked away. I'm not sure how, but I managed to drag myself up there.

As we were in the packed waiting area, it went from noisy to insane. At first there were 3 cheerleaders and a few moms. Then 2 by 2 they were coming out of the woodwork!
That's the problem with cheerleaders, they're like mice. If you see one, you know there's 20 more to follow.

they were all just really loud and annoying. I'm sure the only person in the restraunt enjoying there presence was themselves, and Evan.

I was so relieved when we were called back to our table. As always our chef was funny and the food was great!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02482.jpg

We are doing Teppan Edo for the first time in Feb. We do the hibachi frequently here at home and LOVE IT!! Do you know if they put any sort of nuts in any of the food?? I have a "hot line" written down that I need to call before our trip. DS is now allergic to peanuts and sweet pea's! We have to carry an epi-pen. We just found all of this out this summer. This trip is going to be very different as far as food is concerned.

Not sure if I've ever said this but I totally dig DJay's T-shirts! They are always so funny. I love it!! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to read of poop! :thumbsup2

I was wondering if that was what it was! I had that same surgery and now have 2 lovely little metal pins in my foot. How close was your trip to your surgery?

There is NO WAY I could have done Disney after. I was in a hard ski boot for 6 weeks. I was supposed to be in the soft boot after 2 but it was so much worse than they expected, I got the hard boot.

I had to wear stilleto's on the other foot just to be even.

It messed up my entire body. I had to get some major PT to get "realigned" after that.

Did you get to use the toe torture machine? That was my FAVORITE part.

Not.

No way am I ever touching the other foot.

I never had a 'boot". I couldn't put ANY weight on it for a month. I guess diffeent surgeons do it differently. I know some people who had a ski boot after and some who were like me and in bed for a month.

Luckily, I escapted the toe torture! What is that exactly?

That's about how big my scar is too though mine is more on the top of the first long bone (big toe bone) foot than the side. UGH on the toe torture. It's a machine that you literally strap your big toe into and it rotates it UP...and Down...and UP...and Down. You adjust the angle at which your toe is rotated...up...and down...

The big toe is supposed to be able to move 90 degrees up and down, it's your pivot toe! Because they had altered that long bone and repositioned it, it was a recovery concern. I had to do it for about a month I think before I got the full range of motion back. About 20 minutes a day and slowly adjusting the angle.

BLEH!

I am glad I did it though. The other foot is not nearly as severe and doesn't give me any trouble. They tried to get me to do both and I'm really glad I didn't!

I never would have done both at the same time....I don't know how I would have made it to the bathroom.
My left foot isn't as bad but the dr suggested I get it done before it gets worse. Hopefully in 7 months I'll forget how bad the first one hurt....kinda like childbirth. After about a year it seems like it didn't really hurt THAT bad....and then your in labor with your next and it all comes back to you!

Yeah, I know I"m late, dead confusers will do that to you.

quote Winkers;

We had a date with the man who is responsible for me writing trip reports. I guess it's up to you to decide if that was a good or bad thing.

A few years ago when I was just a dis-baby, I discovered Nebo's tr. I had more pee your pants funny moments while I read about his mis-adventures. He is a little accident prone and can describe things in a way that will have you gasping for breath.

Ok, Steve....was that good enough? Oh, my check is in the mail?

At the time I started following the adventures of Nebo and Smidgy, my dh was working nights. I would sneak into the bedroom, where the computer was, and read....I was obsessed because I was planning my first family trip.

I should have been a good wife and waited till the hubby was awake or gone, but I just couldn't help myself.
Have you ever been in church or a serious situation when the urge to giggle hits?
As you try to remain silent, your shoulders start shaking up and down...when that fails to get the gufaw out of you, your entire body starts to bounce.

Your eyes begin to tear up and you start to hyperventilate...then everyone near you is glaring..because they would never laugh at such a time...

well that's what I would go through, except it was d.Jay in the bed who would give me the evil eye.

The evil eye would lead to me reading to him what was so funny.....and then the out of control laughter would start all over.
end quote.

First of all, yes, your check is in the mail, along with this year's stimulus check, a winning lottery ticket and Robert Pattinson's phone number.

I'm also sure that all your readers are very pleased you started doing the trippies so I can't be faulted there, either.

As far as me making you pee your pants and hyperventilate, all I can say is what a sweet thing to say, I'll cherish those thoughts always. That was a shame we couldn't end up sitting together, but who knows, maybe for the best.

By the way, tell DJay to send one of those evil eyes my way next time, heck, I'll take ANY eye that works, evil or otherwise.

I've noticed something about vacations...the first couple of days go by fairly slowly then you get to half way through and all of a sudden it's your last day. It feels like that to me no matter where we go, but at Disney it's magnified.

It was our last full day and I didn't want to waiste a minute of it sleeping or waiting for someone to get ready....silly, silly me.

I was up and showered by 6:30 with the aim of being at the bus stop by 8:15. We needed to conquer Fantasy land that morning because I avoid it like the plague after noon. Well.....after the 10th time trying to wake "everyone" up....ok, mostly MIL, they were all moving....slow as frozen mollases...but they were moving.

It was 8 by the time I finally herded everyone down for breakfast. I probably looked like I was having a seizure because I was trying to contain my twitches and irritation at being way behind my schedule. The twitching was caused mostly by MIL who couldn't just order something that could be used with the ddp...noooo....I can't even remember what she wanted but it was ridiculous. I was about to snap so I left her in line .

10 minutes later, she finally made it to our table, where she started to complain about not being able to get something on the ddp and she had to pay $5 for something.

Ok....really? You got a totaly free trip ...she never had to pay for a thing...and you're going to whine about paying $5 bucks? Yeah...I was a little peeved. But I managed to remain calm while I "encouraged' everyone to hurry.

At 8:20 MIL was just about done and we were gathing up our stuff when I heard the dreaded words......
"Mom! I gotta poop!"

When Ethan says these words, you know it's going to take awhile. He stores it up for almost a week and then it takes at least 30 minutes.....poop everlasting.

My first thought was "crap"!!! Now where really going to be behind schedule.

One benefit of having more boys than girls is d.Jay gets potty duty.
I will admit that Ethan being our baby is spoiled rotten and much to everyone's dismay, was almost 8 before he could succesfully wipe himself.

A successful wipe entailes removing all traces of poop without smearing it all over one's self or the toilet seat. We would tell him to try himself and then call if he needed back up.
There's nothing like being called into the bathroom to find a "full moon".

One of the best episodes of this was whenb I dropped the boys off for bowling....Ethan needed some assistance and Hunter was the only one available. The look of absolute horror on his face as he described havinbg to help Ethan , was hysterical.

So, D.jay followed Ethan into the bathroom like someone being lined up for execution at dawn. I snickered to myself glad that Bailie was potty trained and self wipping by the age of 3.:thumbsup2

25....yes TwentyFive....minutes later my little poopmeister and chief bum wipper emerged from the restroom. Ethan looking relieved and D.Jay a little blue from the asphixiation caused by holding his breath that long.

We finally made it to the bus stop at
8:55 just as the bus pulled up.

up next...conquering the world 1 bathroom at a time...

:rotfl: My kids were all 3 before they were potty training...when someone, *cough* MIL *cough* would comment about their children being trained by 18 months, my response was..."as long as they're out of diapers by kindergarten".

Perhaps it is a youngest male thing.

Eric would fit right in with Ethan.

Except he doesn't store it up. Somehow that wisp of a child, pulls of a 25 minute poop, like clockwork, every morning when it's time to head out of the house for school.

He can add a full 45 minutes to a dinner out while we wait for him. And wait. And wait.

And then send in a search party.

Evan summed it up the other night. We were waiting for Eric, I was making both boys go before we drove back home from Great Wolf Lodge.

I was tired, antsy, and knew it was storming out. I made a comment (as Evan and I twiddle our thumbs outside the mens room door) "what is he doing in there?"

Evan just looks at me and says.

Mom.

He's in a stall.

I guess really, that says it all huh.

Lucky for him I do not follow my parents rule of bathroom decor. Which entails magazine rack next to the throne.

He'd never come out if it occurred to him he could take a book in there. All I can think is....

Doesn't your rear end get COLD?

I never knew the sudden urge untill 11 yrs ago when I had gallbladder surgery. Now THAT will cause all sorts of havoc with your digestive system. Lets just say it gives you contraction like pains and a 30 second warning to get to a bathroom FAST. It's not as bad now, but I never know when it will hit....have you seen the movie 2 weeks notice? Sandra bullock is in a traffic jam when the urge hits and ends up running up to an rv in front of her... I laughed so hard when I saw that, because it so could have been me.

I love the story about your little brother! I could see a couple of my kids doing that! Years ago, we were sitting in church when all of a sudden this 3 yr old boy comes toddling down the aisle with his pants around his ankles and a handfull of t.p. when he got to his family he very loudly announced that he was ready to be wiped.:rotfl2:

Before you pray for a girl....be carefull! they may be easier to potty train but once they hit 10 or 11 and the hormones are kicking in....it's hell. Occasionaly they behave like rational human beings but for the most part you wonder if you should call in a priest for an exorcism.;)

I try not to be hard on myself, but when you're standing next to those fairies it's really hard not to.

How exciting to be going for your first time! Have you been before? I was so amazed by how much bigger everything was, then what I'd imagined.

Poop and restrooms.....ahhhh something I can get behind....;)

Very funny update. As a mom of a 9-year-old who still likes us to wipe when it is messy and there are no cottonelle around... I can appreciate it!
:rotfl: I'm glad I'm not the only one with a child like that. My family has given me alot of grief over my son with the self wiping deficiency.

I've noticed something about vacations...the first couple of days go by fairly slowly then you get to half way through and all of a sudden it's your last day. It feels like that to me no matter where we go, but at Disney it's magnified.

My husband calls this the "flip" day - when you go from saying "we still have 5 more days to do all the stuff we wanted to do" to "OMG we are leaving in four days!" I think it happens mostly at places you have been to before, or maybe resorts in general. I'm thinking that it didn't happen on our European trips. But we go to Jamaica almost every year, usually Saturday to Saturday, which means that we wake up on Wednesday and Tony says, "it's flip day." We still have not taken a sunfish out sailing in Jamaica. Somehow we manage to spend all week lying on the beach and drinking.

great update!! I have 2 girls and I'm scared witless about the teenage years...they are 2 years apart so I'll have two teenage girls running around...:scared1::scared1::scared1: It just isn't going to be pretty I know it! My oldest didn't want to wipe herself....I finally said at age 5 you're doing it and I won't....there were a few times where she sat on the pot for a LONG time to test me and see if I would wipe her....She learned that it isn't fun to sit too long as you become numb. I had to finally put my foot down cuz with the younger one still in diapers I felt all I did was wipe bottoms all day. :rotfl::rotfl: Now my youngest is 3 and still wearing diapers for the most part....she is so dang stubborn!! I hope she will be potty trained by kindergarten but some days I have my doubts!

If she still isn't potty trained by kindergarten, then you've got bigger things to worry about.

I tried to push my oldest into potty training and it just made it worse. With the others I encouraged but didn't let it get to me.

LOL! Now that's what I call an in deep update! You don't leave any details out :lmao:

It was 8 by the time I finally herded everyone down for breakfast. I probably looked like I was having a seizure because I was trying to contain my twitches and irritation at being way behind my schedule. The twitching was caused mostly by MIL who couldn't just order something that could be used with the ddp...noooo....I can't even remember what she wanted but it was ridiculous. I was about to snap so I left her in line .

Arrrrgghhh! I really really hate when people just keep wasting precious time in silly stuff, just take whatever everybody else is eating and be done!

Just like in my 2nd visit to the World, my sister would take hours deciding what to eat, and when she arrived to the table she would complain (almost crying) that she didn't get what she wanted... SO we waited hours for you and you are still not satisfied with your food???!! :headache:

I also hate last days. I think it feels like they are slow- because you know you have soo many day ahead of you. So you tend to relax more but then when it gets to the end of the trip- or even the middle you start counting down the days and it seems to go by fast.

After Ethan's deposit was made we hurried out to catch the bus. I was trying really super hard to calm down and not be frustrated by the poop delay and MIL's irritating behavior. So I sat and snuggled my little poopmeister because he still had a slight fever and wasn't feeling great.

We made it to MK just after park opening which made me feel alot better. My goal for the day was to do Fantasy land and a few other things, before our dinner adr.

First on my list was to find the time for the pirate tutorial....this is a favorite of the boys....and I kinda enjoy it too.;)
I looked at the times guide but it wasn't listed. I hadn't heard of it being canceled so I was a little confused.
I happened to spy a cm a few feet away so I went to ask about it.

Turns out she was an executive from the entertainment department. She was full of all sorts of information and told me about the new area being made in adventure land. She said there would be a table service restraunt with characters and a few other things geared towards boys.

We had a few hours before the first tutorial so we headed for fantasy land.

We went on a rede through the land of evil stepmothers, flew over London and rode around in a circle on our horses.

We made a short stop in Lyberty square on the way to adventureland..

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/november/DSC02512.jpg

Earlier in the trip the kids had given me a little grief over all the characters I want pictures with. I understand them not wanting to wait in a line that doesn't lead to ride, but it still was frustrating to me.
The character meeting is part of what makes it so magical for me.

When I was young and watching winnie the pooh, cinderella and all the other classics, I never would have believed that I'd actually get to MEET them. So, when I do I feel like a kids again.

Being the awesome husband he is, he declared that morning that we would be stopping for any and all characters that I wanted to see. He gave them a little lecture about the whole thing and they were going to enjoy it. I was a woman on a mission to see some characters.

True to form, MIL had her ginormous purse along with her...this would lead to alot of:headache: on my and d.jay's part. It even drove the kids crazy a few times too.
I honestly don't know anyone else who carries as much crap around with her, all the time. I'm a little scared to even know what's in it. She was also lugging around a huge water bottle and a bottle of orange juice with about one and half swallows worth left.

We were still awhile away from seeing my boyfriend....I mean Capt. Jack. the kids wanted to ride POTC. MIL and D.Jay went along wtih them while I sat on a bench and propped my throbbing and swollen foot up.
Just thinking about that pain makes the month of bedrest and pain after seem worth it.

Evan gave me the back pack to hold. As we were talking MIL walked over and plopped her bag on my lapand said "hold this".

It wasn't keeping track of it while they were on the ride that made me want to strangle her with it....It was the lack of common decency. A little "please and thank you" goes a long way with me.

I could tell my week with her was putting my sanity into question because I wanted to smack her upside the head with her Mary Poppins bag.
I sat on there telling myself to breathe...finally those Lamaze classes came in handy.

Ok, so I had visions of putting her in the stocks back in Liberty square. That made me smile.

A few minutes before my crew made it back from POTC, I spied Capt. Hook and Smee.
D.Jay's encouragment worked because I didn't hear one grumble or see one roll of an eye when we headed in their direction.
I was starting to think that someone was having fun with me in an effort to see how far I could be pushed before I snapped. I wouldn't have been one bit surprised if a shrub yelled out "you're on candid camera".

MIL just headed for Capt. Hook without taking her magical bag of crap.
D.Jay happened to see it and called her back to get her MBOC. He had mentioned to her that if she wanted to carry the MBOC all day that was fine but our kids weren't her pack donkeys.
Obviously, being the beast that I am, she mistook me for a pack mule. All week she had been trying to make the kids carry it for her.
So much for my earlier lamaze session.

We tried to sell her to Capt. Hook but he was worried the MBOC would sink his ship.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/november/DSC02521.jpg

We met up with a lesson from Capt. Jack and Hunter was picked to help!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/november/DSC02537.jpg

Hunter attempted to fool Capt. Jack by yelling "Look over there"! He is such a ham!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/november/DSC02535.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/november/DSC02533.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/november/DSC02538.jpg

After the pirate lesson we stopped for the 9th, yes 9, potty break of the morning. Every time I blinked , Hunter had to pee. I was seriously debating the pro's and con's of a catheter.

After the pitt stop we headed for BTMR. MIL and I ended up in the same car, when the bar came down it was about 1/2 an inch from her.
She then loudly announced she should have ridden with Hunter so there wouldn't be a huge gap between the bar and her lap.

As we were exiting she told everyone that she had been scared the entire ride because she kept almost flying out of the seat because the bar wouldn't go down all the way because of me. And she didn't just say it once, she repeated as loud as she could without actually shouting.

As I attempted to dust off my freshly stomped on self esteem, we headed to Casey's for lunch.
On the walk back to main street, I fantasized about feeding her to the canibals on the Jungle Cruise.

up next.....bringing cheap to a new level.

You should have asked your MIL to ride the ride again with you. You should have told her next time she won't almost fly out she will. I can't believe her nerve. My MIL is like that. One time at the ball park she yelled at me asking me what was on my face. It was a zit. Everyone around turned to look at it. We need to ship my MIL and Yours off to Alaska for an extended vacation. Just joking that is mean I know but maybe for just a year:confused3 then we can take them back. LOL! I still can't believe you took her with you. I also love the character pictures. My DH often gets annoyed with all the waiting in line but those are the best pictures for memories in my book. That is part of the fun and enjoyment. Sure it annoys me with how long the lines are-especially when its hot but I know when I get home and see that picture- I won't regret it one bit. DH tries to suck it up and put up with him. On our last trip I seen Mary Poppins- I was ecstatic because this was the first time I've ever seen her here and shes one of my favs. But the line was soo long and we had dinner resses- so I said we can get her later- pff.. we never found her :sad2: Next time, I'm waiting in line.

MIL would annoy me to with her bag or wanting people to carry it. I carry a little backpack around with me- which I carry. DH does ask if I want him to carry it- but I feel bad because I wanted the bag. So we do switch off, but I don't throw it in his lap and say hold this. hehe You are doing great so far.. hopefully- everything else goes smoothly! hehe

That's downright frightening!! My DH's grandmother carried a bag of crap too; it was huge, and contained all kinds of stuff, like used Kleenexes, tweezers (never know when you're gonna need those away from home!), and empty lipstick tubes. Not to mention, dead hearing aid batteries, empty pill bottles, and 300 pens (and to think only one does the trick).

I did home care for her in the last few months of her life, and there just was NO talking her into ditching the bag. it's like a second generation umbilical cord thingy attached her to it.

Everytime I pick up my purse or think about my little park bag, I think "my magical bag of crap". :lmao: Ok so my bags are probably not nearly as large as your MIL's bag (judging from what you've described) but it still could be "magical". :wizard: I love the phrase and I think I'm going to keep it for a while. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

One year we heard on MTV "You know you're getting old when your purse is bigger than your head." My mom's MBOC can hold 4 bowling balls, a year's worth of kleenex, several parkas, 3 quilts, and a person who can't afford airfare. All kidding aside, her bag held about 30 to 40 pounds of C and NONE of it useful. Is it any wonder why my kids didn't want to carry it?

OMG!! :scared1: She lives with you?! :scared:

That's downright frightening!! My DH's grandmother carried a bag of crap too; it was huge, and contained all kinds of stuff, like used Kleenexes, tweezers (never know when you're gonna need those away from home!), and empty lipstick tubes. Not to mention, dead hearing aid batteries, empty pill bottles, and 300 pens (and to think only one does the trick).

I did home care for her in the last few months of her life, and there just was NO talking her into ditching the bag. it's like a second generation umbilical cord thingy attached her to it.

That just about fits the bill for my mom. The only thing she doesn't store in her MBOC is her keys and her phone, of which she never can keep track of.:rotfl:

1) I didn't know dear MIL lived with you.

2) How can she not have her phone and keys in her MBOC? Oh, she doesn't want to lose them. I get it..;)

Really!! That is the truth. We did try an alternate for her keys once.. Do you remember when they sold those key locators? You attached them to your key ring, and then clapped or whistled to find them. The mechanism would then beep at you, helping you locate where they were.

My mom would clap and whistle to her hearts content or until pure exhaustion and the darned thing would not respond to her. She had to ask us to whistle or clap for her (IF she could find US!!!):lmao:

She isn't home very often and she has her own "apartment" in the basement. So it isn't as bad as it sounds. I'm sure I drive her bananas too.

I called up the Vatican on the Popephone. They almost hung up on me since I'm all heathen-esque, but I pointed them in the direction of this trip report. Long story short, you're on the Saint list.:thumbsup2

It's funny how life can throw things at you that you never would have expected.

this curve ball has been coming for a long time but I've tried to ignore it as much as I could. I haven't said anything about it here, because it's painful and I needed somewhere that I didn't have to talk about it.

Some of you may remember a few years back when my dad was hallucinating and having all sorts of fun stuff. Well, that seemed to get fixed and things were good for about 6 months. Then we discovered he was drinking...like a fish.

He's drank and abused prescription drugs off and on my whole life....he excuses his need to with my Mom's death...34 years ago. We're not talking a drink here and there, it's more like a bottle of brandy a day mixed with painkillers and all sorts of stuff.

He denies any of it but the stack of liquor bottles are a tell tale sign. Things were getting rocky with him in early summer and we told him he we didnt' want him around the kids when he's like that.

Durring the month after my foot surgery all hell broke loose....a lot of it was him being mad that I wasn't over there holding his hand while he was drunk as a skunk..... The fact that I was in serious pain and physically unable to be there didn't matter.
He told me what a horrible daughter I was several times and left countless nasty messages that my kids got to hear.

After 2 months of this, I had had enough. I could see that I had been enabling him along with the rest of his family. So, when I put my foot down he went berzerk.
He wasn't exactly the best father to begin with but I take my responsibility to my family seriously, so I tried to make him happy.

In the end, I had to tell him that untill he's willing to admit he has a problem and to get help I can't be part of his life. That didn't go over so well. I think his daughter, the doormat, sticking up for herself shocked him. But sadly not enough.

His only problem was if I was still going to do his shopping and take him to the doctor.
I would have thought that faced with loosing his daughter he would have been willing to atleast consider getting help. But nope. As always it was all about him.

I'm really saddened by the way things have turned out. I've spent alot of time praying and wondering if I just need to deal with it. but I know that I'm not helping him at all by continuing to enable him.

the funny or sad thing is...he makes MIL seem sane.
