Our rest at the resort was just what I needed. Actually, I rested while D.Jay ran from kid to kid swipeing one of teh two 30 minute arcade cards we got with our package.
I really need the rest, my head was killing me along with my back and foot.
With all of the aches and pains, a beached whale would have moved more gracefully than I did.
on the bus..

We got back to MK around 5 and called MIL to let her know we were there.
No answer.
We walked around almost 45 minutes and she still wasn't answering.
I was just glad we had cell phones! My sister in law has great stories from about 10 years ago before any of them had cell phones. They lived in Albany NY, so mil would go out every year to visit. They tried to take her to as many places on the east coast as they could.
The one thing they could count on was MIL getting lost or not showing up untill 2 hours after the appointed meeting time. Leaving them stuck in one place untill she showed up totally oblivious to the inconvience or worry she caused.
Since we had the phones we decided to go ride BTMRR. Not a smart move on my part. that train caused kinks in my neck and back that would give my chiropractor nightmares.
As we were headed to POTC we ran into her. She looked like she had really enjoyed her time alone just exploring and she was wearing her own Hannah Montana hat, causing Bailie to be mortified. She didn't think her Grandma should be wearing one. Teens are so fun and easy to embarrss!:rotfl2:

They were having alot of fun and was one of those :wizard: moments.
Ethan, Evan & I staked out our favortie spectro viewing spot while everyone else went to get dinner.
It was so freaking cold!!! Which made just sitting there seem longer than normal. And of course about 5 minutes before the parade started we were being smashed and stepped on by people who thought that we should give them our spots we had been at for almost an hour.
We always try to smoosh together so other's can get a good place but it really ticks me when someone just shoves their way in.:headache: I guess it's just part of disney parades.

The parade was only about half as long as usual, most likely because of the freezing temp. Disney didn't want a bunch of frozen parade goers, I guess. Actually, I've never been so glad to see the end of a parade before!
We were all at the "teeth chattering" stage and just wanted to get warm. On the way out we stopped for a few pics.

D Jay....you are a good man. you know your mom is human and has faults, but love her just the same. you're a good role model for your kids...i think.;)
yes, he is. His childhood is something that could be made into a Lifetime movie....pretty close to hell. Instead of being resentfull, he took those lessons and learned how to be a better person. She is very lucky to have him. Sadly 2 of her 4 sons have practically nothing to do with her.

She would freak out at everything....we arrived 2 days earlier than the rest of my family...they booked 1 night at the AK...when they arrived to check in they were informed they were family of the day and got upgraded to a 2 br suite!:banana: Right?? well my mother was crying when I got to the room because things weren't going according to plans and she didn't know why she was flipping out. :sad2: This was a beautiful suite!!!
We were supposed to all meet at the MK in the morning to spend all day with the family and I got a call from my sister that morning saying my mom wouldn't come out of the room...she was crying non stop and didn't want to deal with MK. Basically my mom spent the whole time in the room....where people took turns staying with her until my dad had had enough and left with her. In her defense we've just found out she has Parkinson's so maybe that had something to do with it. ? . There's a ton of more stories but that's just an example of some of them.

We have been soooooooooooooo busy with Brennan and baseball. We just got back into town late yesterday. We were at his USSSA world series. It was fun but they didn't do too well. We are leaving for the beach in Gulf Shores Alabama tomorrow. I miss all my DIS buddies. I just haven't had much free time lately. I have also been helping out my nephew next door with their new born baby. He is two months old. I watch him while his parents are at work. It is only temporary but it is more than a full time job with a little baby and a two year old. Did you check out my facebook pictures to see how big Grace is getting. I also have a prom picture of Courtney. When we get back I will post some beach family pictures. Don't get scared I won't be in a bikni or nothing of the sort. LOL I am not sure when we will go back to disney world but I hope when we do I could meet you again or Winkers . If yall ever come to Louisiana let me know.

As usual I was the first one up at 6. Even though I give D.Jay a hard time about me being up first and all alone, I kinda like the peace and quiet for a few minutes.
I was showred and ready before I could even get most of them out of bed. So I headed down to get some chocolate milk for breakfast, while the others got ready.
It was time for us to head for the bus and out comes MIL with her parka and full size quilt in a bag.:rotfl: D.Jay kindly told her that wasn't neccesary but she insisted. Her theory was "everyone could help carry it".
Aahhhh, yeah right. The kids all looked at me like you seriously aren't going to make us carry that thing are you?
D.Jay said "if you want to bring it it's fine, but you will have to carry it". She also had a mini back pack and her banana shaped purse thing. She was quite a sight.
All I could think was why don't you just bring a pack mule with you......oh yeah, that's what she thinks my kids are for.
On our way into AK, I looked up and saw this....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01865.jpg
I love it when my kids act like they like eachother!
We found our way throught he turnstiles and to the ameboa of humanity while we waited for the park to open.
I hate crowds like that...I have a very strict "personal space" bubble around me. So being jostled, poked, pinched and smacked in places even my dh wouldn't dare touch in public, kinda creeps me out.
During this fun wait I had a little toddler who was fastenated with my behind. Maybe he hadn't seen one that big before:confused3
I don't know, but I couldn't figure out a polite way to say "hey, could you keep your son from playing with my butt"?
As the rope was moved and we started forward, Bailie spotted Stitch, her favorite, along the side waving. Ignoring the treat of being trampled to death she paused long enough to hug him and me snap a picture.
Yes, I know. Such bravery and sacrifice for my child.;)

Our mall walking was rewarded with being on the 3rd safari truck out. Such simple things give me joy.
It was alot of fun to watch MIL on this ride because she expected the animals to be fake.
Is it just me, or do the animals always have their butts facing you? Normally, I'm not excited about butt shots, but while on the safari as long as the picture isn't blurry and I can see an animal....it's good.

Your MIL and mine must be long lost relatives. You should see the stuff she takes with her just to a baseball game. She really does need a pack mule. If she read this trip report she would see nothing wrong with someone taking a full size quilt to a theme park. I mean you never know someone might get cold or want to lay down on the sidewalk and take a nap.:rotfl2:

I don't know if I told you this story before but you reminded me of it when you talked about the kid touching your booty.
My uncle was waiting in line at a gas station with his little grandson Trey. The lady standing in front of them in line had a HUGE butt. Trey turned to my uncle and said, "Hold my Icee, Pop." My uncle took the Icee from Trey and then Trey turned around and proceeded to play the drums on the womans booty. I can just imagine my uncle's face when she turned around and he was just standing there holding that Icee. How do you explain yourself out of that one? We still laugh about that story to this day. I love your kissing picture with King Louie! I'm jealous! When we seen them, there was a line of course- and it was like the CM were in a hurry to get us passed. They did have a photographer- which took our picture and when I asked them to take a picture with my camera- they did but acted irritated I thought- "this is your job" I'm sorry I want a picture with both of us.
I love the pictures that from Crystal Palace- At least I'm guessing thats where its from. The food is soo yummy and its sooo pretty there. I love it.
I couldn't help but notice a hidden them in your last chapter, B.Y.O.P.M. .
Which of course I had to tune into thinking it was bring your own pain medication.
Anyway, it would seem you have a have keister fetish. Now, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, far be it for me to pass judgement, well, I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
Hey, little kids playing with your but can happen to anyone, honest. And the reason all the animals seem to have their butts facing you is because you have the camera set on reverse angle. It happens to me a lot at Blizzard Beach.
And Daytona Beach.
Anyway, are you ever eating in Germany, or did I dream that?

2 more days and I'll be back home in my bed!
As much as I love vacations and spending time with family, it's always good to be home.
MIL has been up to all sorts of things while we've been gone. She decided to take out my 3 garden boxes that the kids made for me several years ago so she could park a trailer in our back yard.:headache: She had to have the neighbors tow our truck out of the driveway and take down part of the fence to get it in. it never crossed her mind to ask our opinion on this before she did it. Let's just say I was ready to strangle her when I found out.
Sunday she called D.Jay to tell him that she's lost one of our dogs. She left the back door open, for heaven only knows how long, and Talulah ran away. As of today, she still hasn't found her.:guilty:
We aren't going to tell the kids untill we get home....I tempted to make her tell them.
So there may be an entertaining story about how I hung her by her toenails once I get home.:rolleyes1

I totally forgot to tell the kids beforehand about Talulah...stupid, stupid me.
Hunter and Ethan both went running to find the dogs before I had a chance to tell them. They are both devestated.
MIL came up to say hi when we got home and was all perky and happy. Not a mention about Talulah. She saw the boys crying and acted like nothing had happened.

Everyone was excited to ride Expedition Everest...well, everyone except MIL, but she was a good sport about it.
This was one of the rides that Ethan had wanted to try but always chickened out when we got to the line. This year he was determined to conquer the mountain!
Luckily Bailie was there to entertain him while we were in line waiting...

Ethan's Yeti face..
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01939.jpg
We made it to the train...Ethan was about to wet himself but we talked him into going through with it.
We're one the little train that is going to rocket us up and around Everest with a narrow escape from the Yeti.....the train climbs slowly to the top, then away we go....Ethan is laugh screaming the whole way, but he's loving it.
Our train comes to a stop at the top of a broken track...it then shoots us backwards.........and then it stops!
The little train that might stopped just at the point you're about to go forward again.
we sat and waited.....and waited......and waited....
Ethan was starting to freak out at this point. I did manage to snap a picture..
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01942.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01943.jpg
After at least 5 minutes we slowly started forward only to stop 10 seconds later for another 5 minutes. It really took all the fun out of it.
Poor Ethan was trying so hard to be brave, but all the waiting really scared him.
When we got off the ride we were given fast passes to come back later.
Ethan said with a very wobbly voice "that was awesome"!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01945.jpg
We grabbed fp's for Dinosaur and walked around for a bit. I could take pictures here for hours, but for my families sake, I try to keep it to a 30 minutes or so.

Our favorite restraunt in AK is Flame Tree BBQ.....ok, so it's the only one we've tried, but we love it so much we've never felt a need to try anything else. We are.....my family is....ok, ok, I am a creature of habit.
I figure I better be honest because D.Jay will happily correct me when he reads this.

Besides the bbq sandwiches being amazing, I LOVE the seating areas. If you follow the path down and around far enough you forget you're in a theme park. Since I know I'll never actually make it to the jungles of asia, I imagine myself there as I enjoy the birds and the pond. After 16 years of being a Mom, I have awesome imagination skills. At least that's what the kids say when I tell them they should keep their rooms cleaned, have their homework done, take showers without being threatened, and get along with eachother.
Last year while we were enjoying our lunch I was attacked by a duck who decided my finger looked tastey.
I always think of Dawn (punkin) when I'm there because I know she'd pee her pants about how close all the birds get.
I normally have alot of pictures of the birds here, but this year there were things going on I thought best not captured for the family album.
And I was a little too busy trying to distract Hunter and Ethan...which didn't work.
Obviously, the first week of feb. is mating season for birds in AK.
It was a little strange just how many of them were....together.
Evan and Bailie laughed about it, then Hunter looked and after about 30 seconds of watching to figure out what was going on. Well, when he did the look of horror on his face was priceless.
Of course Ethan wanted to know what all the birds were doing. And why there were 4 ducks chasing after one poor one who was sqwaking like she was being killed.
I never thought of disney as being the place for the birds and the bees discussion.:rotfl2: I don't remember how, but we were able to get Ethan's attention on something else long enough to eat.
Hunter never wants to eat there again!
After lunch we headed to use our fp's for Dinosaur. I like this ride alot, but it kills my back. On our way over to dinoland I noticed a dinosaur statue I hadn't before, so of course it was picture time.
There were to older couples sitting near by who seemed to enjoy the show we put on.

On August 3rd, we headed out on at 18 day, 10 state road trip. 6 humans in a mini van. And you wonder why I need prozac?
Our first destination was Mt. Rushmore. For 12 years whenever I heard that name, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I'd have a panic attack.
12 years ago we headed out with our 2.8 children to Minneapolis for d.jay's brother's wedding. I had always wanted to go to Rushmore so we decided to stop along the way.
Evan was 4, Bailie 2 and I was 6 months pregnant.
Within 2 hours of leaving home it began.
I felt like I was in the middle of a war zone.....a poop and puke war zone. For 12 hours they both had explosive diahrea and vomiting. We would drive 5 minutes then pull over so Evan could puke or to change Bailie's diaper.
It was a living hell.
By the time we got to Rushmore all we wanted to do was collapse.
Rushmore was under major construction at the time so we couldn't even get very close, Bailie puked all over in the cafeteria and I was just about dead.
Not a great memory. Oh, and they did continue with the poop puke routine the entire 24 hour drive.
It became the trip that shall not be mentioned.
When we decided to head to Minneapolis this summer, I wanted to go back to Mt. Rushmore so we would have some good memories of it. Some people never learn.
We headed out of a monday afternoon planning to stop for the night at my uncles in Montana. This "should" have been a 5 hour drive.....it took 8.
We were stuck in construction for hours!
It was late by the time we got there but it was so nice to be greated by family and a hot meal. One of the things my aunt made was a whole wheat salad. Insert forboding music.
D.Jay, Ethan and I slept in the room connected to my uncles and about 5 minutes after laying down, D.Jay was making sounds like a thunder storm. Then he would laugh hysterically while I told him to be quiet. Repeat 99 times.
We left around 8 a.m. and within 10 minutes Evan started up. Imagine 15 hours in a mini van with a cattle yard.
Thanks to mapquest, we went on the scenic route and a trip that should have taken 10 hours took 15! We were really late getting to the Mt. Rushmore area so decided to stay the night there.
Only 1 problem...it was Sturgis Ralley week. All the hotels were booked within a 2 hour radius. We were surrounded by bikers.. I've never seen so many motor cycles in my life, not to mention tatoos and men who shouldn't be wearing leather pants. Our little family stuck out like a sore thumb.
We finally found a room for $160 for the night and that was the cheapest we found that had any available. On the bright side, it was a great place and about as close to the mountain as you can get.
We made it to Rushmore in the morning and I"m happy to say it was 100x's better than before. There was no puke or poop to be seen.
Everyone got along and I hiked the trail a day after I was told I could walk, but to take it easy. Let's just say my foot hurt a little that day.
Here's a few pictures I took. As you will see, nothing is sacred.

Wow I've missed a few posts...I'm still trying to figure out why your MIL needed a trailer in the backyard. Did she put it back there after the dog went missing...maybe she thought oh this is it....they're kicking me out??
Your picture are great....I am the type of person who gets their foot stuck or hand or whatever all the time...I am impressed you did not fall down getting your leg out. Believe me I would have fallen...brusied my hip and made a huge scene. It always happens to me...awful! I'm just impressed you put the pictures on here. It made my day. After rescueing my foot from the ferocious dinosaur, I led my pack of embarassed family members towards Primeval Whirl. This has become a family favorite and the kids were excited to get grandma on it. I think MIL was learning to be nervous if the kids seemed overly excited about a ride.
We had just gotten in line with only about a 10 minute wait, when Ethan decides he HAS to go potty NOW.....back through the line Ethan and I went and we were bummed that we would miss the ride. When we got to the exit the cm told us we could come back and catch up to the group when we were done.
I spotted this while I was waiting for Ethan.....I thought it was funny.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01975.jpg
We hurried back to the ride and were able to catch up a few minutes before our time to ride.
Evan, Bailie, and I got in one car and as the safety bar came down, we discovered Bailie had a little problem....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01982.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01983.jpg

After our time travel visit to MIL's childhood, we treked over to Tough to be a Bug.....this is a sentimental favorite of mine because we first saw it in Disneyland 6 years ago. I had never experienced anything like it before.

Seconds after we made it to the doors for our 15 minute wait....they appeared..............
a laughing, screaching, cheering, foul mouthed mass of Spirit Fingers.
In general I have nothing against cheerleaders. Yes, they are a little too excited about a ball and where it's going, but I can ignore them.
But you put a group of 25 along with their chaparones, and I use that term loosely, and they become so annoying that only the Brazilian tour groups can rival them for the #1 annoying thing at Disney World.
We were pushed and elbowed untill I was a bout to hit someone. Not to mention the "chaparones" were as bad if not worse than the girls. And the language they were using could have made a sailor blush.
I think the only person in the area who wasn't ticked was Evan, who was just embarassed to be seen with his family.
The spirit fingers with hair continued to scream and squeal throught the show, even Ethan was annoyed. If you can annoy an 8 yr old boy, you're good!
We decided to spend a little time exploring before FOTL. We came across a group in Africa and stopped to listen. the kids got involved and played some instruments, and I had to snap this pic of MIL with some of her cargo....

Oh I can bust out the 80's lingo something fierce. That's what happens when you grow up in Orange County, I think. The lingo never leaves (even when you're displaced, halfway across the country)!
Unfortunately Jose was too busy defending the food on the table to video tape my heroics against the birds. Darn shame too. I'm just CERTAIN it was my finest moment...

Which is more important.....remodel the kitchen or go to disney world?
The logical side says the kitchen....it's still boasting it's original 1960's metal cabinets.
But on the other hand we only have 3 more years till Evan will be graduating.
Sometimes I'd swear there are two different people in my head arguing like they're on a debate team. Yes.....my mind is a scary place.
Without a doubt choose the time with the kids.
I cherish the last family vacation we had before my DD left home, got married and started her own family (not necessarily in that order:rolleyes:) We just can't get that back. We'll have great trips with our grandkids now, but its different. Do it now.
Besides, metal cabinets might make a comeback if you wait long enough:thumbsup2

Ok.. sooo this is easy for me. I would definitely choose disney. With or without kids- its just my choice. I love decorating and it would be awesome to remodel. But at the same time.. how many chances are you going to have to go to disney world- you might as well take it. Your kitchen will always be there for you when you want to remodel it. hehe Plus, vaca with kids are important. When I was younger, my family didn't get to go on vaca a lot. In fact we only went to disney once. Those are some of my most cherished memories and I'm sad he didn't go on more.

You said that they are metal cabinets etc well how about youtalk to your high school shop teacher & see if maybe he can come up woth a "project" for his class to do metal work on fixing or replacing the bad parts? That way you get Disney & a partial new kitchen & the school gets a great real life experience project to work on.

My brain can be a very scary place sometimes. I've had 101 different plans and justifications rolling around in there for a couple of weeks.
So, here's what I'm thinking. There is absolutley no way I can take the kids to disneyworld and redo the kitchen. The cupboards alone cost the same as an 8 day trip for 6.
Originally my thought was to go the first week of febuary with the kids, but then I thought maybe if I pushed it back to the first week of May, it would give me a little more time to save up the money so I could do both.
But my little sister called me awhile ago with some good news...she's expecting and it'll be the first part of may. No disneyworld trip in may.
I'm so excited for her. Those who have followed my trs probably remember what an ordeal she's had. Between cancer and a few other complications it was a miracle when she got pregnant with her first , and she's 2 now. So this is just an extra bonus!
I'll be going to stay with her for 2 weeks to help out. Really it's purely selfish on my part.
So I'm back to square one....and then it hit me! D.Jay and I haven't been on a vacay by ourselves for almost 5 years.
Here's the plan dh & I go by ourselves and I get the new kitchen.
He loves the idea and I'm kinda excited about it too. Disney is a totally different experience without the kids. Now, I just have to figure out how I'm going to finance this, convince dh we can afford it and then I'm set.
See, I told you it's scary in here.

Next we went to FOTLK. We chose that over Nemo for purely sentimental reasons. Lion King was the first disney we took Evan to see. He was almost 1 and we went to the drive inn. :cloud9: Whenever I see the Lion king I think of him as a little boy......I can't believe that little boy is now 16 and a little over 6 ft.
MIL was blown away by how great the show was. I knew she would be and the kids love getting into the animal noises....well the boys do. Bailie just sits and pretends she doesnt' know the strange people she's sitting with.
AFter the show it was time for a little shopping. The kids all had money burning a hole in their pockets.

We picked out our favorite parade spot....right across from the safari next to where the parade starts. D.Jay and Evan went in search of snacks and we all enjoyed some popcorn while we watched the parade.
We were all really tired at this point and we had plans to go to fantasmic that night so we headed back to the resort for a little rest.
The kids went for a little swim, I don't have any idea what D.Jay and Mil did, but I laid down for a nap. Between my foot and back I wasn't sure which hurt worse and I was getting a killer headache. I have to be carefull when the headaches hit because they have a tendancy to make me pass out. Lots of fun.
By the time everyone was back in the room I knew I needed to just hang out at the resort, take a pill and get some rest. Bailie wanted to stay with me so we said goodbye to the others as they headed for Fantasmic.
Bailie and I made a quick trip to the food court for some dinner....said hello to Phil the frog along the way and on the way back up the stairs Bailie triped and her diet coke went everywhere! It looked like a coke puddle. I called mousekeeping to let them know about the new water feature and that's about all I remember that night.
When I take one of my little friends they either knock me out or make me act strangely if I'm not able to get to sleep. I vaguely remember everyone else getting back frozen into peoplecicles.
up next....the sun will come out...tomorrow.

Hi Cherie, just got back again myself, hope your foot is doing ok.
Now, just for a chance to be a Cliff Claven, your above quote is actually a misquote, it's one of those sayings that has become distorted over the years. The original quote is; "You can't eat your cake and have it too", but for some reason it turned into "You can't have your cake and eat it too." No idea why.
Kinda like when people say; "Money is the root of all evil." Then they tell you, "Look it up, it's in the Bible." But the actual phrase is ; "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." But the beginning get's left out.
Ok, I'm sorry, no wonder everybody hated Cliffy. :lmao:

I knew if I posted that someone would have the answer! But even the original phrase makes no sense to me....I thought maybe it was a spin off from Marie Antoinette's "let them eat cake".

Is it just me, or do the animals always have their butts facing you? Normally, I'm not excited about butt shots, but while on the safari as long as the picture isn't blurry and I can see an animal....it's good.
almost all my safari pics are of animal butts. it's great.

so proud of him that he did it! way to go, ethan!!! :thumbsup2
Last year while we were enjoying our lunch I was attacked by a duck who decided my finger looked tastey.
I always think of Dawn (punkin) when I'm there because I know she'd pee her pants about how close all the birds get.
:scared1: i've actually eaten here before and the birds were FREAKING me out! it was the trip in september 2007 when i came with tara and erin and erin kept feeding them. i was like, "DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS!!!!! THERE ARE SIGNS THAT SAY NOT TO, YOU RULEBREAKER!" we got in a tif about whether or not there really were signs.
Obviously, the first week of feb. is mating season for birds in AK.
It was a little strange just how many of them were....together.
Evan and Bailie laughed about it, then Hunter looked and after about 30 seconds of watching to figure out what was going on. Well, when he did the look of horror on his face was priceless.
oh, that is just too funny! :rotfl2:
by the way, the pics of you getting stuck in the dinosaur are PRICELESS! ;) oh, and i love the caption on MIL's picture about knowing the dino from high school. :lmao:
Seconds after we made it to the doors for our 15 minute wait....they appeared..............
a laughing, screaching, cheering, foul mouthed mass of Spirit Fingers.
:scared1: oh, the horror! we ran into them once last december and it was while i was waiting with luke while ray, anna and chris were riding ToT. we were down in the hallway where you get off the ride and you should've heard the SHRILLS coming from that area as they got off the ride. it was BLOOD CURLING!!!!
Next we went to FOTLK. We chose that over Nemo for purely sentimental reasons. Lion King was the first disney we took Evan to see. He was almost 1 and we went to the drive inn. :cloud9: Whenever I see the Lion king I think of him as a little boy......I can't believe that little boy is now 16 and a little over 6 ft.
ray and i went to see the lion king the first summer we were dating. that was the summer after i graduated from high school. oh.....memories.

After waking from my drug induced coma, I made the mistake of trying to get out of bed. In my efforts to make my back co-operate with me I'm sure I sounded like a moose stuck in a tree.
After several failed attempts I was finally somewhat upright. It took another 5 minutes to actually make it out of the bed. Seriously. At this point it might be easier to tell you what didn't hurt......I think my hands and elbows were still good.
My left foot felt like a hot poker was being shoved in it and my right felt like about 10 hot pokers were stabbing me which causes not only the foot but my whole leg to hurt.
My neck was so stiff I could barely move it and my back was in knots.
I don't know what it is, but I swear there's a WDW curse that takes over my body while I'm there. I must be hard headed because I keep going back.
I really don't remember alot from this morning other than being excited about it getting up to 75 that day! Imagine that...in Florida. ;)
MIL was so excited to hear we were in for some warmer weather. To celebrate she left her 2 blankets at the resort and just wore her parka.
Everyone hurried to the bus stop, while I hobbled to the elevator and then walked ion a zombie like manner to the bus stop.
You know how Elaine from Seinfeld dances in the one episode, I can't think of her name....anyway that was how I looked as I tried to walk. It wasn't pretty, but the kids were very amused by it.
We missed our bus buy about a minute thanks to my zombie lurch so we had about a 20 minute wait for the next bus. Goody. Lots more time for the kids to make fun of and imitate me.
On the bus D.Jay informed me that I was going to be riding in my own chariot that day. I was adamant that I would not be, I could walk just fine, thank you very much.
After it took me almost 20 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the front gates at Epcot the entire family was on his side.
Personally, I just think they all like a chance at pushing me around.
We headed for TT to find that it was down. So, we went to mission space. Ethan and I waited while everyone else rode. This is the only ride I don't do. It makes me sick even on the "easy" version. And Ethan still hasn't recovered from his first visit.
Back to TT, got in line and were in a car within 5 minutes. Then we sat there for 20 minutes.:confused3
We finally made it around the track and Evan and Bailie had a good time laughing at MIL about her hair after the ride.....

As I was reading all the responses for Disney over the kitchen I started thinking...
Then I read this response.... How did you know that was what I was thinking????
You are not crazy and I am really glad I am not the only going with Disney over a remodeled Kitchen.
I am trying to justify upgrading my tickets from a solo ( 1/2 pleasure 1/2 work trip to WDW) to an annual pass. Problem is I don't have another trip planned anytime soon. But if I got the pass then rooms would have a discount. How's that for fuzzy disney math???

We headed over to The Seas for a quick stroll around before our lunch adr at Coral Reef. D.Jay and I had loved this place when we went on our adults only trip but this was the first time for the kids.....
Lets just say we were all a little underwhelmed. We were seated as far from the tank as possible and could on occasion make out the shape of a fish as it floated by.
The food was just "ehh"...ok, it had definatley gone down hill in taste and quality since our virsit time. Luckily, none of us are really picky eaters so we were all ok.
the age old ritual of a man protecting his meat....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02082.jpg
I have no idea what this is...but someone ate it.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02079.jpg
Hunter enjoyed eating his fish infront of the fish tank...;)
After lunch we went on an adventure with Nemo. MIL took the kids to innoventions (my idea of a living hell) while D.Jay and I went to get fp's for soarin' and some pain meds. He had a headache and I had a body ache.
While we were gone we had several calls from different kids complaining about eachother or MIL. She and Bailie really don't get along well. By the 10th call I gave up and decided we better go back and play referee. As an attempt to calm some of the crappiness, we bought everyone a little something from mousegears.
Bailie loved her's...
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02085.jpg
We also had gotten some school bread and a few other pastries from Norway. Everyone sat and ate and attempted to remember that they love eachother and we were in WDW dang it!!
The best way to cheer the kids up was a ride on Figment...this is a family favorite. I don't know why really....probably because it's silly and a skunk farts......yep that's the level of my families maturity.
That reminds me......One day I hatched a plan to come up with some familiy "mottos" in an effort to forge some bonding. I thought the kids would be all over it and have fun.
During dinner that night I made my grand announcement and asked for suggestions........
I now give you the Kendall family motto
Flatulence Forever!
I just shook my head as everyone laughed hysterically. That's just a small example of my efforts going down the toilet.....
Where was I? Oh yeah, Ethan couldn't wait for Grandma to be surprised by the skunk smell. She had a satisfingly disgusted reaction and made his day.
We wound up at Honey I shrunk the audience.......hadn't planned to go but we had some time to kill.
As we entered I was directed to the wheelchair entrance while the family went through another way. I told the cm that I could get up and hobble to a seat but he insisted that it was perfectly fine for me to stay in the wheel chair......
I guess he didn't understand that I wanted to get up, but I finally gave up.
One of the most fun things to do with a WDW newbie is take them to club cool for the beverly "experience".
Evan started getting drinks for MIl to sample. He started with China and after 2 or 3 slipped in Italy.............
we all waited cameras ready to capture the look of disgust that would surely cross her face when she had a good mouthfull of it.......cricket,cricket......
She asked for more! Beverly!!
We were all stunned and a little disappointed that we didn't get to see her face go into convulsions.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised....MIL will eat ANYTHING, and I mean anything....the only thing she doesn't like is peanutbutter and chocolate together! (I told you she was odd)
As we exited club cool, I looked around and Future World looked as tho it had been hit by a plague.......of cheerleaders.... Moses should have cursed Pharoah with a plague of overly excited, cheering teenage girls.....Heck, Pharoah would have done anything to get rid of them.;)
Seriously, they were everywhere to my horror and Evan's delight. I don't know how anyone can be that naturally "peppy" without drugs.
As we entered the building for Soarin' I was crossing my fingers that Ethan would be brave enough to ride. His first time on it was in DL when he was 3 and didn't go over too well.
But with the help of his big brothers and a few hundered cheerleaders, cheering him on,.....oh wait this isn't a musical..........
With the help of his brothers he walked through that line got onto the seat and nearly wet himself.
Once it was up and going he finally relaxed and enjoyed the ride! It's so fun to see kids overcome their fears. I think it helps them in the real world to know they can take on scary things and be ok if not better afterwards.
Next we journed through spaceship earth or as I will always call it the golf ball.

When dh and I went in 2006 we loved it. I think they've changed the menu quite a bit, it just didn't seem as good as we remembered it to be.
I'm going to take some cold medicine and go back to bed.....hopefully I'll feel good enough to update this afternoon.

I'm sorry you were disappointed :sad2:
the age old ritual of a man protecting his meat....

Boys are weird :rotfl2:
Hunter enjoyed eating his fish infront of the fish tank...;)
Oh, the delicious irony!
While we were gone we had several calls from different kids complaining about eachother or MIL. She and Bailie really don't get along well. By the 10th call I gave up and decided we better go back and play referee. As an attempt to calm some of the crappiness, we bought everyone a little something from mousegears.
Mouse Gear cures all ills ::yes::
We also had gotten some school bread and a few other pastries from Norway. Everyone sat and ate and attempted to remember that they love eachother and we were in WDW dang it!!
The best way to cheer the kids up was a ride on Figment...this is a family favorite. I don't know why really....probably because it's silly and a skunk farts......yep that's the level of my families maturity.
:lmao: You know, that's the one ride we missed on our list this year. Looking forward to trying it out next time - it sounds like it's right up our alley! :rotfl:
I now give you the Kendall family motto
Flatulence Forever!
Bahahahaha :rotfl2:
She asked for more! Beverly!!
We were all stunned and a little disappointed that we didn't get to see her face go into convulsions.
What's wrong with her tongue?! :scared1:
As we exited club cool, I looked around and Future World looked as tho it had been hit by a plague.......of cheerleaders.... Moses should have cursed Pharoah with a plague of overly excited, cheering teenage girls.....Heck, Pharoah would have done anything to get rid of them.;)
Cheerleaders en masse?! :scared1:
Once it was up and going he finally relaxed and enjoyed the ride! It's so fun to see kids overcome their fears. I think it helps them in the real world to know they can take on scary things and be ok if not better afterwards.
Well done for riding Soarin', dude! :thumbsup2
Next we journed through spaceship earth or as I will always call it the golf ball.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02098.jpg
That's what we call it too! Well, Mickey calls it "the big golf ball in Eggpot"! :rotfl2:
up next........I'm so excited I can't even feel my head....
I can't decide if it's good or bad to be so excited you can't feel your own head :lmao: Looking forward to finding out though, Cherie!!! popcorn::

I really love world showcase durring the day but at night it's magical. When I walk around there at night, it's even easier for me to imagine myself in a different country. And since my imagination is about as close as I'll ever get to them, it's pretty cool.
I was excited for MIL to get her first real look at world showcase. I knew she would absolutely love it. And of course, I was right.
We were headed to Tutto Italia. I'm so glad I only have to spell it because my tongue and foreign languages don't get along well. I have a hard enough time with English. When I made the adr, I had to resort to telling the cm "you know, the restraunt in Italy"?
I warned MIL before we started on the way not to worry, that we'd be back another day to fully enjoy all the countries. It's hard for me to just walk by them without a little exploring, so I knew it was killing her to just see a glimpse.
Hunter decided he had to go to the bathroom RIGHT NOW. What is it with kids anyway? I can ask them if they need to go and of course they never have to. But 2 minutes later, they're gonna blow. What's up with that?
To accomodate my little bathroom inspector, I think he was just on a mission to use every bathroom in WDW, we stopped in Mexico. Which worked out pretty well. MIL was able to look around a bit. After, we went out to show her the view of WS from the balcony on the aztec temple. These ended up being some of my favortie pictures from the trip.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02133.jpg
We arrived in Italy and checked in. Then it was my turn to use the bathroom. Well, there was a little problem. As I said before me and foreign languages aren't friends.
Thanks to the Italian on the bathroom doors, I walked into the wrong one. Boy was I surprised to see D.Jay standing in the girls bathroom.
sheesh, I think they label them that way just for idiots like me. I'm still teased about that at least once a week.
We had all just been seated when d.jay decides he needs to get up and go somewhere. He didn't say where he was going or what he was going to do. That just irks me....hello, after 17 years ya think he would know that I'm snoopy and need to know his whereabouts at all times.;)
Hunter had been complaining of a headache for awhile. I felt really bad for him because he really looked beat.
Another theme from this trip was Hunter closing his eyes in all the pictures. I think I took about 6 here just to get those peepers open.

Italian is my favorite type of food, so I have a hard time deciding what to eat here, it all sounds so good.
I settled on the cannaloni
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02153.jpg
A few years ago Hunter announced that he's going to be a chef when he grows up, in so doing he ruined my grand scheme. See, with the 3 boys I would be set for life. Evan wants to be a pilot, he co-opperated, so I can get really cheap airfare!:thumbsup2
Hunter was going to be a dentist....you know how often I seem to need those. Again, giving me free dental. And Ethan could choose anything that would benefit me in the future.....dr, lawyer, billionaire, whatever, I'm not picky.
It's funny that Hunter decided on being a chef because he used to be the pickiest eater. Drove me crazy for years, but once he started cooking, he's willing to try anything once. So I think that had something to do with his choice of pumpkin ravioli.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02150.jpg
MIL's dish .
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02152.jpg
If there's a steak on the menu, Evan will order it. He loves dead cow.

Ethan's ginormus personal size pizza
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02151.jpg
When the food came Hunter still wasn't feeling well. His head still hurt and he needed sleep. It's funny how someone can go from death's doorstep to super-duper excited in 2 seconds.
A man in a chef's shirt, or is it a coat...anyway a guy walked up to our table and said "is there a Hunter Kendall here?"
Hunter's eyes got huge as he realized that the chef had come out to talk to him. He was so shocked and nearly gagged on his mouthfull of food.
That was D.Jay's secret. He had asked the manager if it would be possible to have the chef come out and meet our budding chef.
He was awesome! It made Hunter feel like the star of the universe. Just remembering it brings tears to my eyes. I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I love my husband! He is an amazing dad!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02155.jpg
The chef talked to him for a bit, told him how he got started and asked Hunter what his favorite thing to make is. Those 5 minutes were the highlight of the trip for him.
Before my eyes I watched Hunter go from near death to top of the world in seconds.
A little proof that he was feeling better...
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02158.jpg
Yes, Evan was on his 5th of 7 refills of rootbeer. If disney decides to take the beverage away from the ddp, you know who to blame.
We finished up our meal....the desserts there are so yummy. Hunter was still in a state of shock and continusly babbling about his own personal "meet n greet".
As we were walking away from the restraunt I asked him how he felt about the whole thing.
"I'm so excited I can't even feel my head"!:rotfl2:
That has become a favorite saying for the family. That is one of the amazing things about WDW, there's always something to surprise you. Such a simple thing meant the world to my 11 yr old. I know he'll always remember that.
just a sec....gotta go get a tissue.
We continued on our way through the world, just taking our time.
Japan...
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02166.jpg
We made a stop in Morroco to get D.Jay's favorite dessert...baklava. He isn't one to get excited about food normally, but the first time he tried the pistachio baklava, well.......he had a moment.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02168.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC02167.jpg
I came out with baklava to go to see the kids goofing around. So, I decided I needed to too.....thankfully there's no photo evidence of this.
I hopped down from the fountain at the exact second Hunter came shooting out of no where and we collided..............
my first thought was....don't drop the baklava! For a second I thought I was going to loose my grip on it and there would go my $21 bucks of enjoyment for D.Jay.
Once I knew it wasn't going to fall, I thought....I hope hunter's ok.
perhaps my priorities were a little askew at the time.:rotfl2:
Once I discovered that Hunter had survived the incident, we headed towards the bus.
up next....D.Jay say's good bye to his money.

I think every family has a member with a bladder the size of a raisnin.
When I was growing up we would make trips to my grandparents every few months, it was about a 3 hour drive. Well, my little brother would need to stop 5 or 6 times! Many roadside weeds were fertilzed by him.
He's now 25 and we still tease him about it.

I'm the guilty person in our family. I have the smallest bladder. I once came out of the bathroom during our breakfast stop on a trip to find every one making bets for how far I would make it before we had to stop again. I think I know where every bathroom is in the parks, but I don't rate them like Jordan. I also don't recall entering the wrong bathroom either. I can totally understand your family's enjoyment of that misconception.
