Here's one of the dances Hunter did for competition. They performed for our spring festival last week. He is the far left, back row.
The little guy in the front row looks so lost! He didn't go to competition with them for obvious reasons. LOL He's in there because his mom makes him,

pictures by the kids.. soo funny. and random. Whenever I let my sister in law.. whos only 6 take pictures.. it always cracks me up. She'll have like 30 pictures of random closeups of all the animals, pictures, toys, her face etc.. hehe

I loved the dance. I have a soft spot for tap. I should of been in dance.. I love everything about it.. just never did it.

MIL loved eating there, she said it was her favorite meal!
Acutally Hunter is clogging... similar to tap but quite a bit different technique

Great job, Hunter. I know that your Mama is very proud.
yep....when he's performing I'm one of the loudest cheering, those boys always get alot of attention from the crowds.

I did, and he blushed a little and said thanks!

It was interesting to see Ethan's pictures...it's a total different perspective at 4 feet!

I grew up dancing and loved it! I still do, but you'd never know from looking at me....sometimes I'll show Hunter that I can still shake it....drives him nuts. But hey, I've got alot more to shake these days!;)

In that video the boys weren't quite giving it their all, but when they go to competition their energy is about 3 times what you saw.

Seems to really have enjoyed himself.

the only time he got really nervous was in feb, where he danced at a college basketball game in front of 6,000 and it was on tv. He said he wanted to puke before, but after he was on a total adrenaline rush!

For my birthday I decided to take the kids to see "up"....first I was excited when I got to the theater and they had it in 3 D, for our little town that's huge!
There were a couple of great pre-views including one for Toy Story 3, coming out next june! My boys are really excited about that.
The little "short" that pixar always does was, in my opinion, the best one ever!

As for the actual movie?
It was amazing!!!! It is the best pixar has done in a long time! I laughed, I cried, I laughed and cried a litttle bit more!
It is a great heart warming story that pulls you in from the beginning.

so, would I recommend it???? YES!!:banana::banana:

After our fun time at 50's Prime time we decided to head for Star Tours, this is a sentimental favorite, because it was one of our first rides when we went to disneyland.:goodvibes

We were expecting to have at least a 15 minute wait but when we got there, the standby time said 5 minutes! I felt like I'd won the lottery. We were moving through the cue so fast I barley had time to snap this....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01481.jpg

Our next stop was Tower of Terror....again we were expecting to have a long wait, but it was only 5 minutes also! It was like we were in the twilight zone. At 2 in the afternoon it's usually swamped.
Ethan and Hunter didn't really want to ride, which secretly made D.Jay happy, but we had somehow hoodwinked MIL into riding. hehehe

look mom! no hands!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01482-1.jpg

I decided to videotape the ride, I'll try to get that uploaded later, and it's hillarious to listen to.
If MIL didn't need depends before....she was wishing she had some then!

When the ride stopped, I asked her if she was ok.....

MIl...." I can't feel my pulse!" :lmao:

She really is a good sport about trying everything once. She said she liked the ride other than the "up and down".

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01491.jpg

we bought this picture so she could use it for her christmas cards.

Up next was our wild ride with Aerosmith. We only had about a 15 minute wait! If I hadn't known better, I would have thought fastpasses were pointless.

I don't know why, maybe one of us smelled, but we seemed to never run into crowds other than a group of Brazilians in black spandex shorts and neon yellow shirts , following a guy on an ecv holding his little red flag aloft.
I think that flag is more for everyone else's benefit....you see it and run the other way.

Where was I? oh yeah Rock n Roller coaster....
Bailie wasn't feeling very good so she opted to stay with D.Jay and Ethan. Again MIL had no clue what she was in for.

My theory for getting someone to try a new ride is to totally down play it. Works for some......but when our car shot off, I'm pretty sure I heard some words escape MIL's lips that she had never uttered before.
She could have made a sailor blush!:lmao: Coming from her it was hysterical because she never swears!

Ethan tried out the seats...
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01492.jpg

After the ride we all had a good laugh at MIL's hair, she looked like a jet had taken off in front of her, permanently swooshing her hair back.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01494.jpg

After the obligatory stroll around the dump shop we exited the building into what I swear was Alaska in winter!

If was so freakin' cold!! If some one had told me that a spaceship had come to earth and transported Disney World to the north pole, I think I would have believed them. It was CCCCCCCCOOOOOOOLLLLDDD!!

MIL didn't look so silly in her parka now. I guess the aliens had forwarned her.
After a few minutes , I swear I had icecicles forming on my dripping nose.

Everyone had a jacket at this point except for moi, who for some strange reason had expected relativly warm weather in FLORIDA! So here's where my statement about Al Gore being a loon, my apologies for any fans of his, if Florida hitting record low's is a sign of global warming, then I'm Queen Elizabeth! If he had been giving one of his lectures there, he would have been hysterically laughed at.
The only warming going on was my cheeks pressed up to the popcorn cart.

I was in need of a jacket! so Bailie went with me and the others went to watch a street performer and get a snack........

By this tiime we were all freezing. so we stopped for a few photopass pictures and left the park.

We were headed for World showcase by boat...because we had the big surprise for the kids that night!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01499.jpg

up next....(when ever I type that I hear the voice of Chris Harris who hosts the bachelor) At what point will I become so cold that my fat will solidify and break off my body?

For some reason whenever you get out on water, it's automaticaly 20 degrees colder.....I'd never really noticed it before.

I wonder where Hunter gets his goofy poses from?
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01503.jpg

We decided to use our quick service in France. It was the best use of those points ever!!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01506.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01508.jpg

Ethan had an interesting way of eating his dessert.....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01509.jpg

After snarfing down our pasteries along with a little quice or ham and cheese croisant, we headed for Yahct club marina for the surprise.
We were going on an Illuminations Cruise!!
I had spent a night wide awake worried that I'd over sleep and not get my call in at 4 a.m. on the dot to reserve this.

So, following the directions I'd gotten, we reported at the marina at 8......just to be told to come back in 30 minutes.:confused3

We were all so cold by this point that I was tempted to just scrap it, but I would have been out alot of money, so we treked into the Yahct Club to wait.

As soon as my rowdy group entered those doors, I was sure we would be found out and kicked out. We sat down in the lobby and I spent the next 30 minutes telling the kids to please act with some decorum and not embarass their mother. I think all mother's know this technique, I use it mostly in church but it did come in hady here. While painting on your sweetest smile you threaten your kids through your clinched teeth that they had better behave themselves, or else.

Ater 30 minutes we headed back to the marina where we got to wait outside for another 10 minutes. By this time I know parts of my body were starting to solidify....I had visions of my fat cracking off and bouncing away. I got a little excited thinking that maybe I'd discovered a cure for cellulite.;)

The kids had to put on life vests before we boarded the boat....Hunter and Ethan had a little fun....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01514.jpg

Look! I have proof that they love eachother!!!!!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01511.jpg

It's amazing what freezing will drive you too!

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01517.jpg

Sure enough, as soon as we pulled out into the lake it got a heck of alot colder and I began to question my sanity. We were all trying to make the best of it. We huddled together as close as possible.

On the boat we had bags of chips and a cooler of pop. I couldn't believe that the kids still could drink it when it was so cold out!

Our boat putted into place under the bridge between England and France to view the show.

It was alot of fun, but I have to admit that you don't bet the whole effects of the lights going off and on around the lagoon.

I'm so glad we did it, but I don't think I'll do it again. Of course, had we not been human popsicles I probably would have enjoyed it alot more.

Our guide was really good and told us a ton of information, which I remember absolutley none of.

By the time we got back to the marina we high tailed it back to the yahct club to catch a cab back to our resort. I was a little leary about taking a taxi, considering the only time I'd ever used them, turned out to be a road trip through hell.

Luckily, we had a great driver who got us "home" without getting lost or making me fear for our lives. And the $13 was well worth it to not have to trek through epcot and catch a bus in the mayhem after Illuminations.

We were all still so cold and tired as we walked to the room and of course our little flat friend Phil was still smooshed on the side walk. Nothing says disney magic like a dead frog flattened mid hop.;)

up next......get me the prozac!!!

I seem to use it most while we're sitting in church......I used to think that by the time my kids got past "little kid" stage they could handle sitting for an hour without making a spectacle of themselves. I was wrong, and the worst is D.Jay! People probably think we're having mariage problems because I'm always glaring at him during church.

Let's see here, it's been almost 4 months since our trip and I'm just starting day 2! don't worry, I'm not trying to beat Jordan's record of longest trip report ever....

By the time we got done with Illuminations and took the taxi back to the resort, we were all frozen. You know you're cold when you can't feel the tip of your nose.......but you know you're REALY cold when you can't feel you bum...by the way, using the bathroom is dangerous with a numb bum.:thumbsup2

My little alarm setter, Hunter, set up a 5:30 wake up call. Because we were going to EMH at MK the next morning. As he was doing this in my room I had evil thoughts of setting one for MIL at 2........she who doesn't like to be startled awake.;)

With the birds chirping and little mice scurring to help me, I woke up at 5:30 took a shower and was dressed by 6 when I got everyone else up. The "plan" was to leave at 7, because there's nothing I love more than being at the front of the line.

I went for a little walk down to the food court to get some chocolate milk and juice. I passed Phil and told him good morning......I couldn't believe he was still there!

When I got back MIL still hadn't gotten out of bed.:headache: It's about 6:30 and I hear from the other room someone hysterical and freaking out......So I went to investigate. MIL couldn't find her wallet! Now, when she gets up set or frustrated she throws temper tantrums not unlike a 3 year old.

I got her to shower while we combed the place. We couldn't find it anywhere. so I started making calls to see if it had been turned into lost and found. About 15 minutes later she gets out of the bathroom and I told her that I was waiting for a call from guest services............

"oh, don't worry about that. I remembered where I put it."

Oh my freakin heck! the 6 of us had been looking everywhere and running to the gift shop and anywhere we could think it would possibly be, while she knew where it was.:headache::headache: Silly me, I thought she would have poked her head out and told us ....

by now it's a little after 7 and all of us are gathered and ready to go.
I took the traditional picture of the kids before we left.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01598.jpg

Again I hear noises of frustration from the other room.........now she couldn't find her glasses.:confused3 Knowing her, I realy shouldn't have been surprised by this. She is always loosing something. Hunter found them on the bathroom counter where she had left them.

We finally make it out the door and to the bus stop, only to freeze our tooshies off while waiting for a bus.
We did manage to get to the park right at opening.

Our first stop was SM.....

Good for you you! You made EMH with a large group. I know how hard it is to get that many people up, moving and out the door on time and still smiling.

Hunter really got some amazing pictures.

Bailey's cackling was too funny. I can understand where it comes from. I do the same thing every time I ride TOT. It's my favorite ride, can't help but laugh. In our pictures from the ride everyone else looks scared and I have the biggest grin on.

Can't wait for the next installment.

decisions...decisions....

We've decided to take a 1 1/2 to 2 week road trip in August. I just have to decide where. The only bad part about living in the west is it takes a long time to get to somewhere "new". I can drive 6 hours and still be in the same state.

Anyhoo, I thought it'd be fun to get everyone's opinion.

option 1. Oregon Coast, Redwoods, Utah

Option 2. Redwoods, Souther California (a day or two at disneyland), utah

option 3. Mt. Rushmore, Utah, Home

option 4. Utah, grand canyon, home through california and oregon

Notice that Utah is in all of those? Well, we always visit my family in the summer and I've been informed that not going this year isn't an option.:rotfl2: Personally, I think they could come to me for once, but that's a whole nother story.

So....what do ya'll think?

I need to decide soon so I can start obsessivly planning!

Kind of a hard choice, Cherie! I have down these routes at one time or another in my life, sort of. I guess it depends on if you want Nature, education or city fun!

1. Oregon Coast is beautiful in August! We did a bike ride all down the coast, camping along the way one Aug. The beaches are all different, the towns seem kind of the same - small with mom and pop restaurants, state parks and seafood restaurants and gift shops. Of course the Redwoods are amazing - plan to take a picnic into one of the parks for sure.

2. You can see the Redwoods, then head for L.A.! It's hard to be down there and not do DL of course, There are also awesome beaches, Hollywood is safe to visit in the daytime - really fun to see. Universal Studios is great there - pro ball games, Sea World isn't far - all kinds of "city fun."

3. A road trip to Mt. Rushmore will take you through Montana - there are alot of quaint "cowboy towns" to see - alot of wide open spaces. ALOT. You can educate the kids along the way, and near Mt. Rushmore is also the Crazy Horse Memorial, which is worth seeing, too! You can head South to Yellowstone on your way back West. Lots to see and learn. My family used to take these roads all the time when i was a kid. We're from Minnesota - went back every 2 yrs. (kind of reminds me of National Lampoon's Vacation, "world's biggest ball of twine!":rotfl2:)

4. Kind of like Option 3, except lots of desert, but Lots of learning opportunities and lots of nature.

I love option 2 always, but that's because we have nothing here and I long for "city fun." But For a family road trip, I think I would choose Option 3, because you cover more types of areas and I have lots of fond (and not so fond) memories over the years of those roads!:thumbsup2

Tammie,

I love the oregon coast, my parents took me there several times as a kid. My dad grew up in the Albany area and I still have family there.
Only my two youngest have been to the oregon coast and that was in april when I took my sister to cannon beach.

D.Jay has been to the redwoods and has talked about taking the kids there for years.

5 years ago we made the road trip down to disneyland....we were there a week and that's all we did!

12 years ago we made the trek from here to minnesota for my brother in law's wedding, with a stop at Mt. Rushmore along the way......it was the trip from hell! 2 toddlers with non stop vomit and diahrea! Plus I was 5 months pregnant.
So whenever I think of going there I just feel sick. I've spent a bit of time in Montana and you feel like you drive forever without seeing anything. Pretty, but I'm afraid my kids might kill eachother in between stops.

All morning I had been keeping track of time because I had a mission to get Bailie in to see tinkerbell. She had been so disapointed when we heard they were opening this after our previous trip. So, she was excited to see Tinkerbell and Silvermist her favorite.

Having done my homework, I new this line would fill up fast so we went to toontown at 9:40......when we got there I was surprised to see alot of people already streaming in. So, we followed the line and when we got to the line for tinkerbell, along with 100 of our closest friends , I was shocked to see it already had a 75 minute wait!!!

I couldn't believe it! The cm at the entrance said they had started a little after 9 because there were so many people already waiting.
At this point my stress level shot up and I could hear my pulse in my head.

I was just stunned that disney had opened something early....they get a couple hundred people waiting outside the gates every morning but they don't open early.:confused3

If it had just been me wanting to go it wouldn't have bothered me....that much. But I had told Bailie she'd get to meet her. I offered to wait in line with her but she said it was ok. Thank heavens she wasn't a little girl who would have been realy upset.

D.Jay noticed that the princess line only had a 15 minute wait, so we headed there in hopes of seeing my favorite...Belle.

We handed over our camera along with the photopass card and off we went. I still find it funny that at my age I get excited about meeting the characters! I think it just embarasses my kids.:thumbsup2

The boys are always so good about posing with the princesses even tho they are mildly embarassed by it.

I love that her dress is so poofy it doesn't make me look quite so big....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01735.jpg

As we were just entering the "dump" shop MIL came up to me giggling....

mil "I have to confess something"

me "what?"

mil "while you were getting your picture with belle I said to D.Jay , cherie must be the beast!"

She was laughing hysterically by this time.

I was so stunned I just walked away.

What the heck did she expect me to say?
I'd like to say that after 17 years as her daughter in law I would be so used to this kind of "foot in the mouth" syndrome from her that it wouldn't faze me.

Quite honestly......I was hurt.
And unfortunatly this is the only time this sort of comment was made during the trip.

I asked D.Jay about it and he said he just ignored her thinking he heard wrong.
What I don't get is, ok so you're going to be rude and make a statement like that to someone else, why was it neccesary to tell me?? Just to make sure any self confidence I had was crushed?

Anyway, I don't think I spoke to her for several hours after that.

We walked around toontown and rode the barnstormer, which Ethan loved. This was the same ride he and I had a melt down about the previous trip when he refused to go on it......bad mommy moment. But this made it all better with a good memory.

up next....senior citizen stalks eeyore........story at 5.

How inconsiderate of her....some people just lose their common sense sometimes. She's very lucky you had enough decorum for the both of you, because a lot of daughters in law would have let her have it right there!! You're classy and she could learn a thing or two, or a hundred, from you!!

Here's another great family adventure, and I do mean adventure. About an hour inland from the Oregon coast at Cave Junction, we have Oregon Caves, which is lava cave tours - fun for kids. But the killer is at
Takilma, a hippy town just about 30 min away from there - the name of the place is Out-N-About Treehouses. We took the kids there when they were 10 and 12 - we all had an awesome time! It is unusual, but it is a once in a lifetime experience. It is a treehouse B&B. This guy is a vietnam vet who built these fabulous treehouses. He even has a zip line there now. There are family complexes, all different ones. The one we had we had to use the bathroom in the back door of the main house, but we didn't care - it was worth the experience.

They were on GMA, and I've seen them on Travel Channel, too! Once they got known, the county wouldn't let them be licensed as a B&B because of codes, but they are very safe! So you buy a dated T-shirt and you become their "friends." Their "friends" can stay there free!

Website: http://www.treehouses.com/treehouse/treesort/home.html

Happy planning!

P.S. Best sleep I've ever had - wonderful bed with lots of comfy bedding and the tree rocks you to sleep. There's a fresh water pool fed by a spring, and the horses come and drink out of it while you're swimming :)

Hmmmm....so hard to choose......:rolleyes1

2 or 4 for me..but I'm speaking selfishly......

;)

It's looking like oregon and cali right now
it's a good option because going home through utah from southern cali is only about an hour longer than if we went back up the way we go down.

sometimes I think yes, and other times no. You just never know what's going to come out of her mouth.:confused3

I'd like to think that she didn't know how rude that sounded but she started the whole coversation with..;.." I have to confess something". Generaly confessing has to do with something negative.
I don't know, I stopped trying to figure her out years ago.....about 10 to be exact, when she moved in with us.:rotfl:

How totally rude! Yep just like my grandma she did stuff like that all the time to my mom. Don't know how she put up with it for like forty years. I personally have a great MIL. On a wonderful note, I two love beauty and the beast. We had our picture taken with her at EPCOT in her reading dress, then went to the Kingdom a couple days later, went to toontown and had our picture with her in her yellow gown, and she was the same Belle! She was wonderful and even remembered us!!!

I'm so jealous! Belle in the yellow dress.:cloud9:

The only time we've been lucky enough for this was when we paid to see her at the PSB breakfast. Belle is my middle child's favorite character.

Sorry about your MIL. I'm lucky and don't have one, but I sure hope I'm a good one. I have a DIL and I often wonder what she has to say about me.

that's neat. I've only seen belle in her blue dress once. I wonder how they decide what she'll be wearing , when.

The things I've learned about what not to do is.....Be kind, welcoming, and keep your nose in your own buisness. :rotfl:

I realize that my mil could be a heck of alot worse...her mom was the reason for d.jay's parents divorce.:sad2:

Our experience trying to see Tink was quite similar -- we got there at ten and it was already a 75-minute wait! I wonder if they opened early that day, too. That would tick me off since I could have headed there immediately!

MIL's seem particularly adept at making mean comments -- mine does it all the time, and I really don't think she realizes how it comes across. :headache:

I won't be on much the next 2 weeks....this week I'm preparing for camp and next week I'll be there.
I get to spend 5 days camping with about 150 girls from 12 to 18. I know you're all jealous.;)

Honestly, I do love going it's just all rhe prep work that drives me crazy. So this week I"m running around trying to do everything I procrastinated.

When I return I don't know if I'll be up to posting, because I seem to come home injured EVERY year. Last year I was burned to a crisp and had my butt pummled by sharp rocks as I tubed down the worlds coldest river for 2 hours. There was the massive brusies from 07 that I got from scaling an 11 foot wall during the ropes course. I come home sunburned every year, that's what you get when you're pasty white with freckles. :) I've messed up my ankle, wrist, back....pretty much anything that can be hurt. Oh and my favorite was the year I weaned Ethan 2 weeks before going.
Can you say melons?;)..........to Jordy, Nebo and any male lurkers, I appologize for that one.;)

I realy should be doing any thing but dis'ing, but I'm to tired to do anything else!

Today was Bailie and Hunter's dance recital. They do 3 shows in one day! It's a really long day! But bad mommy that I am, I only went to one of them.

Once I told them that I've seen their dances so many times I could get on stage and do them myself, they agreed that I need not be there the whole time.
Plus, D.Jay is there since it's at the high school theater.

I "think" I'm ready for monday. I just hope I don't forget anything important like the toilet paper or food. Then we'd have our own little game of survivor. I asked one of my friends to go with me but since she's 9 months pregnant she declined. I thought what better way to teach first aid and birth control at the same time? It would be a year they'd all remember!:rotfl:

We've come to a decision about the summer trip.......I'm trying not to be disappointed and selfish. I was realy hoping for oregon and cali, but last week D.Jay got a call from his step mom. His dad has had health problems for a long time and now he's having another surgery. So we decided we really should go to minneapolis.

So the plan is, drive thru Montana with an over night stop at my uncles (nothing like free food and a place to sleep) We'll stop the next day at Mt. Rushmoore, then on to MN.
We'll come home going across nebraska and a little of wyoming, stopping in Utah to see my family.

We will need all your prayers that we don't kill eachother after being in a car together for nearly 2 weeks!;)

I'm alive!!!

This year I brought home a killer head cold as a souvenier. I was in a tent with 8 girls who had it and they shared.

I'm trying to catch up on everything, so hopefully I'll be around more in a few days.

I meant to have an update today, but I just couldn't get myself in the right mood to write.
I came home from camp to news that my aunt has breast cancer that has spread through her lymphnodes to most of her body. So, my mind has been a little preoccupied.
Usually if I have a few days of feeling awful and having a pity party I can cope.
Next week after my foot surgery I'll probably have several funny things to say from all the pain killers.:upsidedow

Great photos and you're so not shaped like that hamster!!!!!

Looks like you had some great interaction, well from one of them anyway :rotfl:

How sweet of your DH to buy you the figurine, any photos?

What a great update! I'm so glad you guys were able to experience some great character interaction!!

Awww to the precious moments Belle that is just way too sweet!!!!!!

I'm so glad you got the figurine! I want one too!! Rhino looks fun (not so much Bolt though). Bailee's expression is priceless!

When Cherie shows interest in something and it's a "gotta make it happen Kodak moment," I try to make it happen. :goodvibes In this case, I knew Cherie fell in love with that particular figurine by her facial expression, the way she gingerly touched it (a "my precious" moment), and the huge inhale of air followed by "Hey Deeg. Look at this!!!" What can I do? The time and place were correct. I wasn't going to let a "he needs to get you a new ring" moment pass me by again.
For those of you who don't know, when Cherie and I went to DW the first time on our own, we went to see the princesses and take pictures. As we approached Aurora, she saw Cherie's ring, asked how long we were married, and suggested I get her a new ring. Unbeknownst to her and Aurora, in our room at POP, I had a new ring I was going to give Cherie at DW, I was just waiting for the right moment. The problem was the ring was still at the resort, not in my hand. :scared: A perfect moment wasted.

So, short story long, I try not to miss those moments anymore. So far I seem to be batting 1000 on that level.:cloud9:

Cherie, you are NOT shaped like the rodent! Great update - loved the light sabre moment.

Peed on costume - :rotfl2:

DJay, how sweet and attentive you are!

Awwwwwwwww that is soo sweet. Even though you didn't have the ring it still gave me chills when I read it. Did you give it to her that night?

Yes, I gave her the ring when we got to the resort.

OK. Picture time. Here's the picture of Belle and the Beast. This is the one she fell in love with.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/img003.jpg

And here's the one I got her for her birthday this year.:cloud9:

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/img006.jpg

As I have said before, I will not pass up that "you need another ring" moment again.

It's funny how we learn some of life's lessons along the way. I've spent the past week mumbling about my towns total lack of Independence day spirit. And to add insult to injury the city banned all fireworks. Of all the stupid things to be irritated with.....I picked it as the bee in my bonnet.
So, last night we packed up the kids plus 1 (bailie's friend) and drove 90 minutes to the Grand coulee dam for the lazer light show and fireworks.
It put me in a better mood, and I was able to feel the 4th of july "spirit".

You're probably wondering where I'm going with this......well today at church I learned that friends of ours house burned completley to the ground along with their cars. See, they live in the county, only about 5 miles from us but to my mind a few days ago they were lucky because they could still do all the fireworks they wanted.

Thankfully, they and their children were all out of the house so no one was hurt, but it really made me stop and think about what's important.

Ok, let's get this puppy rolling.......................

I can't believe I've been home for 12 depressing, disney devoid days. Yeah, I'm in a great mood. Once we were home it was back to the reality of D.Jay being jobles, no income and no more trips in the forseeable future.....Oops, I'm getting ahead of myself.:upsidedow This is sopposed to start at the beginning, right?
I guess I could break with tradition and go from the ending to the beginning, I tend to read magazines that way, but I'm not much of a rule breaker.

I 'm not quite ready to start the first day, gotta upload 5,001 pictures to photobucket, so I'll give you a little sneak peek of what's to come.

During the trip I jotted down different ideas for the Trip Report title. Here they are in no particular order....................

Please keep your hands, arms, & legs inside the ride at all times...with only one set of cheeks showing.

What's more painfull....Brazilian tourist groups or waxes?

Cheerleaders are like mice........if you see 1, you know there's 20 more lurking around the corner

Conquering the world........one bathroom at a time.

As God as my witness, I'll never take my mother in law on vacation again!

Blisters, Beatles & Backaches

Hey!!! Who turned off the sun?

Hi. I just started reading your trip report. But, I just had to reply to your possible report titles: Conquering the world........one bathroom at a time. This one could have been my report title. I think we visited every bathroom. On our second EPCOT day, we were just concentrating on the World Showcase. I told my brother that my group was going to visit the WS seperate from his because I wasn't doing a "Tour of World Showcase Bathrooms".

alright, now I'm going to go back and read more of your report (replaying as needed!).

Around 11 we headed over to Crystal Palace for our lunch adr. there isn't anything I don't like about this restraunt. I love whinnie the Pooh and the decorations in here are my kind of heaven. Oh, and I can't believe I almost forgot, the food!

While we were waiting on the porch a little boy attached himself to Evan. He looked about 3 or 4 and his name was Evan too. It was really cute.

Since this was mil's first character meal, I explained to her how it works. You stuff your face and the character's come to you. Pretty easy. I should have known better.

Just a few minutes after we sat down tigger snuck up behind Bailie.....

Ethan couldn't wait for the buffet....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01752.jpg

Our server told us we had about 15 minutes untill Eeyore would be to our table. Like a pack of ravenous wolves my kids headed to the kill. You'd think I never fed these boys!
I explained again to MIL that if she wanted to see eeyore she'd need to
be back at the table.

Well eeyore came by and she was still at the buffet. I wasn't too worried because she isn't a big lover of Pooh & Friends, not to mention she's a certified senior citizen.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01753.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01754.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01755.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01756.jpg

Eeyore was a couple tables past us by the time Mil made it back. I have no idea why it took her 25 minutes to get one plate of food. It wasn't even that busy yet.:confused3
She set her things on the table and started to go after eeyore! D.Jay told her AGAIN that you have to wait untill they are at your table. she didn't seem to understand what was wrong with interupting when he was with a family with young kids.:headache:

We convinced her to sit down and wait her turn. But for the next 45 minutes that's all we heard about. where was eeyore, when would he get back to our table?
I was seriously baffled by this. I'm the disney freak! She watches an occasional disney movie with us, but other than that she never mentions it.
:confused3 But here she was acting like a 4 year old who just missed her favorite princess. Belle is my favorite, and I've missed her a couple times but I don't act like it's the end of the world.

she was contented for a while when Pooh showed up....

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01760.jpg

As soon as he was gone Mil was back to her sudden Eeyore obsession. by this time even Ethan was annoyed by her.
She still thought that she should just go catch him "in between tables".
I looked at D.Jay and he looked really close to loosing his patience with her.

She took another break in her desperate stalking of eeyore to meet with Piglet.

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01763.jpg

http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01761.jpg

After we met with Piglet it was time to go. I just about blew a gasket when Mil freaked out about us not waiting another 30 minutes for eeyore to get back to our table. Sometimes I'd swear she is a 4 year old in the body of an old lady.:sad2: who other than a toddler would be so obbsessed about this?

I just headed for the door because I wasn't going to be around when she was kicked out of the place for going postal.;)

My back and foot had been killing me all morning and all of our neves were a little frazzled by the eeyore stalking. Not to mention how cold it was outside.
D.Jay told Mil that we were going back to the resort for a few hours so I could rest and we could all get warm. He stronly urged her to stay at the park so she could enjoy it without worring about he rest of us.

I swear I heard angels singing when she said she'd stay.

Once we were back at the resort, I laid down for a little nap while D.jay took he kids to the arcade. We were given 2, 30 minute arcade cards with our package.

As I was laying there I mentaly smacked myself upside the head for my brilliant idea of bring mil with us. I was praying that either she'd stop acting like a toddler or I'd learn a little more tolerance and love.

up next...parades and headaches.

We waited several minutes on the porch for her to come out. I was so irritated I didn't ask or even want to know if she had got to him.

It's actually a medical condition called vasovagal. I have it. It was explained to me by one of the doctors when I was in labor with my daughter this May. Sort of explains why I fainted one the way to Disney

No fair! I was told by a doctor is was all my head and just mind over matter. I think I like your doctor better.

I guess we'll have to escape in the middle of the night!
We're planning a 2 week road trip next month that she's trying to get herself invited on. Pigs will be flying before I spend that much time in a car with her!

It was my anesthesi-logist that figured it out. He saw my heart rate drop when he was doing the epidural (sp?). He came to my room the next day to explain it to me. Basically when I get stressed (one of my triggers is being a hospital or hearing about medical stuff) my blood pressure drops which causes the fainting....for most people stress causes high blood pressure.

I have the same thing with my blood pressure dropping, it's what causes me to pass out from headaches.

I had a bunion removed. Well, I guess it isn't really "removed" they cut the bone in 3 different spots and realign it with screws. My feet have hurt for years, but I just barely got up the courage to have the surgery done.

I think MIL came down with a sudden case of Obsessive Eeyore Disorder.

Has anyone thought that maybe her MIL is the reason why poor Eeyore's tail has to be tacked on???? :confused3

That is one nasty-looking foot :scared1: (except for the cute painted toe nails!). I hope it doesn't hurt as bad as it looks.

Your thoughts and observations about your MIL crack me up! I have an irritating MIL also and I learned years ago to think of her as a character on a sitcom...you know the kind of aggravating MIL characters, like on Roseanne or Everybody Loves Raymond. So every time I'm with her, I just think to myself what a great character she would make on a sitcom....works like a charm! :thumbsup2

Thanks Jackie! It was feeling better untill I slipped this morning and put all me weight on it. Giving an accident prone person crutches is just asking for trouble!

I like your theory! I'll have to try that, but I need a sitcom where the MIL lives with the family.
Some of the things she does, I don't think anyone would believe it!

I loved this installement.... on our trip last year my mother decided to loose it...I mean I seriously thought about having the doctor run test on her when we all got home. I lucked out and had my 2 sister there to tag team the care for her. She was so bad that my dad made a last min decision to drive home 2 days earlier and he drove non stop. They live in KS...what should have been a 2 day drive home he did straight through...he only stopped to go to the restroom and pick up food. He said he'd had enough and couldn't wait to get her home. :lmao:

As for your foot...I bruised my foot really bad one day and the doctor told me it takes extra long for the bruises to go away because of the gravity situation and your feet being at the bottom of your body. Your poor foot looks so bruised! But I bet once it heals up you'll be so glad you did it.

You'll have to share some of the things your MIL does at home! I'd love to hear some of the funny stories!

HI there! I know I have been "remiss" on reciprocating "trip reports". I should have replied long ago. (does it help to tell you that Nebo yells at me for NOT reading HIS reports).. not buying it, huh? really.. he has to remind me to read his report.
may I say that the Winkers family, (at Biergarten)well, I felt like I knew them all along. I was not just meeting them for the first time.. .I felt like I had always known them . .. You can tell a lot about people from the demeanor of their kids... really. I must say I was very impressed. esp with teens and preteens. usually you only get a grunt, if that, from teens, preteens, put in a situation of meeting people (let alone.. imaginary friends from the DIS). while I was happy with how friendly winkers and underdog were (and knew they would be), I was especially impressed with their kids! well mannered, socialble! one even helped Nebo out!
good kids don't happen because of "happenstance"! they come from being raised by good parents. Kudos:cheer2: to winkers and underdog! good job parenting!!!!

Diane!! (nearly passed out from shock)
I loved getting to meet you and Nebo too!
I'm not sure what it says about me or my kids that meeting my imaginary dis friends didn't faze them at all.:rotfl2:

I've always measured my success with the kids by how they act when we're not there, and so far they are doing pretty good. It might be that I've threatened them with hanging by their toenails if I hear they're being brats.;)

I don't know what people did before pain meds! But now after 2 weeks of morphine and percocet, I'm having headaches. But I'll gladly trade that for what it would have felt like without.

MIL has had this for a long time....I've known her almost 20 years, and it's just part of her personality.....I just wasn't expecting eeyore to be the object of her affection.;)

there were many times dh and I looked at eachother with the look of "why did we do this" but there were also alot of times we were glad that we had. Those are harder to remember and not as often.

I do know of several nights when we commented to each other about how neat it was to re-live Disney through the eyes of someone who hadn't seen it before. (not Disney World anyway) It is just funnier commenting on those moments that caused more trouble and pain for us. As I think about it, there was much more of the latter than the former.

Something else you need to know about my mother..... She takes LOTS of pictures. Most of the times there are pictures of people we don't know, scenery without people, and pictures of animals, insects, or 20 pictures of the Statue of Liberty's nose.

With that preface in mind, most of you know that in DW you hurry at the beginning of the day and relax at the end of the day (or at least we do). Well, when you have a person who pauses every 10 steps for a "photo opportunity" you can't quite rush to where you need to be and get everything accomplished that you want to do. That's my mom. She has her moments, but I still love her.
