I think it's so great that all of your kids are into theatre! I chose to play sports in high school, so I could never be in the plays, but I was always involved behind the scenes, and as a teacher I never miss out on the school's musicals. The talent just amazes me! He did a great job!

I think the kids being in theatre is mostly my fault. I have been involved in theatre for 30 years. The kids have been excited to do theatre since they were young as well. I'm glad they can be part of the arts, because it brings out the confidence in them.

Hi Winkers!

03-19-2009, 01:57 PM
We caught the boat to DTD because I had a surprise for everybody.....we were going to eat at T-Rex! I was really excited about this and thought the boys would love to eat at a theme restraunt that didn't involve Princesses and having to pose with princesses while your mom try's to get you engaged....
As we started out on the boat it suddenly got freezing cold! I mean north pole in january cold! At least that's how it felt sitting there with a breeze blowing over you with only a light jacket. Gee maybe MIL new something when she packed her parka?:rotfl: To take the kids mind off of how cold they were I told them where we were going. They were really excited and soon were saying things like......
"hey, were going to see Grandma's family"
"weren't you around when the dinosaurs were here"
"how'd you survive the ice age?"
Now to my mom they would never say something like that, heck I'd throttle them if they said it to anyone except MIL. And no it's not because I'm mean and heartless. MIL enjoys being old! Seriously. When she was in her late forties she was already dressing like an 80 year old and insisting that she needed a wheelchair wherever she went. She's even been known to use a cain for no reason. And she started haning out at the senior center in her late 40's too. Really, I'm not kidding.
She shouted for joy the day she got her AARP card and qualified for senior discounts at skippers and the movies. My mom would shoot me if I asked for a senior discount for her!:rotfl2:
So, MIL was laughing along with the jokes and making a few of her own.
Silly me hadn't made a reservation for the restraunt so I was a little nervous about getting a table, and when I walked up and saw the crowd I got even more nervous...
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01276.jpg
I'm not sure what most of those people were doing but they weren't checking in so it only took a few minutes to get to the podium and after about 5 minutes we were on our way to a table.......

My favorite part of T-Rex was the meteor shower. Cherie was right though, our server was S L O W. After about the 4th meteor shower, the coolness wears off, but otherwise, it's really cool. We sat behind the Triceratops that were in the "green" room.:cool2: This is a restaurant you definitely want to go to. Yay T-Rex!!! We had a blast there too and I agree the food was surprisingly good. Sorry about your waitress. I hate when that happens. I can't believe it took us 20 minutes to get a table! We had a reservation but it was a Saturday. Once seated I was surprised to look around and see so many empty tables. They were very slow seating that night.
We never made it over to the adopt a dino thing. We stayed in the dig for a while and bought a couple of souveniers on that side of the gift shop and tried to sqeeze our way out of there. It was SO CROWDED the night we went! (in the gift shop area)

It never ceases to amaze me how many gift shops that are snuck in at disneyworld! T-Rex cafe was the first restraunt I've ever been to with it's own giftshop. So of course I had to look! I know, I'm as bad as my kids.
Actually, we had planned Build a Dino as a surprise for Hunter and Ethan. Their eyes nearly popped out of their heads when we told them they could make one. Bailie decided she wanted one too, Evan was happy to go without.;)
I think the 3 of them stood in front of the section where you pick your dino "skin" for at least 20 minutes before any of them could make up their mind.
Bailie and Hunter's were starting to get filled..
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01329.jpg
they had to add a heart and make a wish on it...
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01327.jpg
Once it was all stuffed and sewn up they gave it a "bath".
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01331.jpg
The next step is registering them and getting an adoption certificate..
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01334.jpg
Of course they couldn't go naked so we spent another 20 minutes picking out their clothes....Then it was time to dress them.....that is a talent all of it's own.
They even have a little "house" carrier for them. I have to admit, I wanted one of my own.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01336.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01337.jpg
By the time we were done it was starting to get crazy busy in there! We ended up spending another 30 minutes in the rest of the gift shop.
We were all tired by this time so instead of walking around down town disney we headed back to the boat launch and froze our tooshies off on the trip back to the resort.
I was happy to find our luggage inside the rooms.:goodvibes Once we got unpacked and every thing settled we all konked out pretty fast. When I went to look in the other room, I found Hunter asleep snuggling his dino! Of course I had to get a picture, but it didn't turn out very good without the flash...

My all time favorite movie is Gone With the Wind, and I've always wanted to be Scarlet O'Hara...........just for a little bit. I've wanted to stand in a baren field, with the wind blowing my long skirt and touseld hair and yell "As God as my witness, I'll never go hungry again"!
Once you see a picture of me, you'll realize that hunger has never been a problem for me.
So, after 2 trips to DisneyWorld with health "issues" and a third trip with possible problems, I have finally had my Scarlet O'Hara moment. I stood on mainstreet facing the castle, baloons bouncing in the wind, raised my fist and cried........."As God as my witness, I'll never be sick in Disney World again!"
Yeah, you should have seen the looks I got.

The Rain Forest Cafe has one too, we always buy shirts but I like those dinosaurs. That's just the build a bears we have in our mall. Do you mind me asking a few questions? How much were those dinosaurs? Do you think a 4 year old would be afraid in there? My sons hated Rain Forest cafe when it would storm and they were 5 and almost 3.
I think picking out the clothes is the best part.

The dinosaurs were all around $20. Then you have to add in the clothes, shoes, sunglasses......shesh they were better dressed than the rest of us!
It's so hard to tell with kids what will or won't freak them out. Some 4 yr olds would be fine and others wouldn't..... Cherie, blueyedgirl, took her almost 5yr old there and he seemed to enjoy it.

Yeah, we found it lots of fun, and yes, pricey, you don't go there for the fud, you go for the effects. Effects can be overrated sometimes though, I could have done without the mastodon that was hovering over our table from drooling on us the whole time. I complained to the waitress and she said it was the air conditioning condensation. Yeah, yeah, likely story, it was 40 degrees out!! Air conditioning? HAH! It was DROOL!
Great shots of the kids making dino stuffage, one more pic and my puter would have locked up.:happytv: Great job reporting Cherie, I wonder what wil happen when we finally both get to the dreaded "Biergarten" Encounter?

Evan decided he was too old for the build a dino, but he found a place where you pick your own Geode and break open the rock to see what you got. At first, he brought the rock to me. I thought it was just a rock. He explained "it's a geode. You break it open and see what's inside."
Silly me, I ask how he expects to accomplish it. Evan turns and points to a machine that breaks it for you. DUH DAD!!!!!:headache:
I don't remember if we got pics of the geodes. They are very pretty.

Um, ok, what is this "geode" that you spake of? And, ok, I'll bite, what was inside the thing that you just bought and decided it needed to be broken? And do they charge you to use the "breaking" machine, too? Heck, my grandson would have taken care of that for you for free.

Ahem, um, excuse me! But I didn't see a T-Rex listing on your agenda that you sent us. Looks like we just missed you there too.
, I wonder what wil happen when we finally both get to the dreaded "Biergarten" Encounter?

T-Rex was a last minute add on, but even if we had seen you there you wouldn't have heard a word we said because of how loud it is...;)
the world may come to an end if we both ever get to that part of our trs.

Geodes are rocks that look like a rotten cantelope on the outside. When you break them open they have beautiful quartz crystals inside. Some clear, some smokey and some amethyst. Some have calcite and other minerals inside too.
Yes Nebo I am so geeky that I collect rocks. Well, we used to. We used to go to a lot of quarries and they would let you collect at parts where they weren't working. But they can't do that anymore because of lawsuits. That was in the 60's and 70's. Damn, I'm older than dirt.

I forgot something kinda funny from the first night. After we got back to our room and everthing settled, Hunter asked if he could set up the wake up call for his room, which he was sharing with Evan & MIL. I said sure and went to help him. When MIL found out what we were doing she said "oh, I'd rather you didn't do that. I don't like being startled awake by phones ringing or alarms".:confused3
I nearly bit my tongue off in an effort to refrain from saying "really??? I love it!!!";) Seriously no-one likes it, but how else are you going to wake up on time? Instead of trying to explain this I just let him set it up in the other room.
At 6:30 I was joyfully awoke to the phone ringing.;) I was still feeling a bit of a cold coming on but the promise of a bright sunny day in disneyworld got me out of bed.
When it was time to get MIL up I had to fight the little devil on my shoulder telling me to scare the crap out of her. I know, I'm evil.
I managed to have all 6 of us ready to go before she was ready. Again this is a theme through out the trip. To us it's no surprise because that's just how she rolls............s-l-o-w-l-y.
To pass the waiting time I decided to get a picture of the kids all ready to go.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01356.jpg
Of course there had to be a goofy one.....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01357.jpg
When MIL was finally ready to go, I looked at her and she had not 1 but 2 bags with her.:confused3 I pack for 6 in one medium size backpack.
She had a large back pack and a strange banana shaped purse stuffed full of neccesities. We managed to talk her into only bringing the banana.
On the walk to the bus stop we passed our trip mascot Phil....he was still there.
the boys at the bus stop
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01358.jpg
Before the trip MIL had been a little disappointed to hear that we weren't going to 50's Primetime cafe. She had heard alot about it from the kids and wanted to try it. So, after hearing that I managed to get lunch reservation as a surprise.
To pass the time at the bus stop we decided to tell her that we would be eating there for lunch. When D.Jay told her, she litterally jumped up and down for joy.:yay::laughing: I couldn't believe how excited she was about it.
We missed the park opening by a few minutes.....thanks to all the waiting, and I was a little worried about getting fp's for ToyStory Mania. We had heard so much about it and couldn't wait to try it.
So as we started our brisk walk to get there D.Jay explained to MIL that she would see lots of things she'd want to check out but we'd come back to them later.
We got there and there was only a 15 minute wait. D.Jay grabbed fp's for later and we all got in line. I loved the themeing here. There was so much to look at...........

I would definatley do this restraunt again!

Great report!! :thumbsup2 Really enjoyed your pictures of POFQ as its my fave resort, and T-Rex - I can't wait to go there next month!! Looks yummo!
You know, we did TSM twice. Once the very first thing in the morning, I think we were guest numbers 5 and 6 to ride it, which meant we just about had to run through the queuing area, and the second time with a fastpass. THis was one time I wished we could have dawdled a bit, cuz there is just so much stuffage to see in the bullpen there. But I got the feeling that dawdling would have meant much pain and gnashing of teeth, YOU DUNT DAWDLE AT 5 AFTER 9 IN THE MORNING!
I also know what you mean about taking tons of pics at T-Rex, I did the same but only posted a few of them, dial up will do that to you. THis is one that I didn't post on my report, I'm still not sure if the camera takes a picture of what you see,,,, or if this is what happens when you keep the camera in the same pocket that you keep the vicodin in.

mini tr part 2
Last monday Me, Hunter, Ethan, Dani, and Kaylie loaded into the mini van for a 4 hour drive to Portland, Oregon. It's a beautifull drive along the columbia river which boarders Washington on the south and Oregon on the north.
It was a pretty uneventfull drive. We left at 4 a.m. so Kaylie slept most of the way and the boys played their ds.
We checked into our hotel and then headed to the Oregon Zoo. My sister Loves zoos! Kinda like my obsession with disney. Yeah, I don't quite get it either but I humor her. I don't mind looking at the animal in the cage for a few minutes but then I'm ready to move on. She can stand in front of the sloth cage for an hour.
Lucky for me, this zoo turned out to be really nice. The animals weren't in the typical cement pens. It kinda reminded me of animal kingdom............if there was a dollar store version.;)

The next morning we headed for Cannon Beach. It's about an hour and a half drive. It went by fast because the scenery is amazing!
It had been 15 years since I had visited the Oregon coast. And a little bit longer for Dani. Our Dad was raised in Oregon and we have family still there, so we would vacation there growing up.
I can't really explain how much I love the coastline along Oregon and Washington. Next to disneyworld, it's my favortie place to go! I always get so excited and I cry when I get my first glimpse of the water....there's just something about looking out and only seeing water and sky. I've only been to 2 beaches on the east coast and they don't compare.
So here's a bunch of pictures.......I took 250 between 2 beaches. Don't worry, I won't post them all!

I love these pictures. Grace and Kaylie are the same age so I know how much fun you had with her. Grace is learning her colors and she loves blue. She had to dye a blue and green egg. She stuck her hand in the cup and she ended out with one hand blue as a smurf and the other one green. I had to scrub the heck out of her hands to get if off.
oh my goodness! I hope you took a picture of her hands!!
I love the picture of the monkey looking at your son. I mix up there names I am sorry. Is it ethan? I think that is a nice zoo. I hope you and your sister and kids had a good time.
Hunter was the one with the monkey.....don't worry, I call them by the wrong name all the time!

To get to the beach in the state park you have to go through a tiny winding road going 5 miles an hour for about 20 minutes. It's really pretty! Dani kept wanting to take pictures of the scenery but I was a little nervous stoping because it would be hard for another car to see us...So she would yell stop, and then I would stop while she hung halfway out the window.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/dani%20and%20kaylie/DSC03355.jpg
I stopped a little too fast and she banged her face into the windsheild....

After Toy Story mania we ended up at the little dump shop full of Toy Story stuff.
If you read my last report you might remember that Bailie had an attitude problem most of the trip.....thruthfully she had it for about a year.....anywho, she was so much better this time. She is a hoot to be around when she's in a good mood. She definatley has her own quirky sense of style and doesn't care what anyone else thinks............I see what not to wear in her future.;)
She fell in love with this............
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01399.jpg
I tried to talk her out of the hat, but she had money burning a hole in her pocket...........so she became the proud owner of a LGM hat and green shirt.
Suprisingly she wore the hat most of the day....and she wears that shirt alot now...I wonder what her teachers must think.
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01401.jpg
As we were leaving the area Buzz came out.....score! Yes, I get really excited when I see characters...........espeacialy when I'm not expecting to.
I get a little nostalic about Toy Story......it came out when Evan was about 3 and he was in love!! We got him a Buzz Lightyear with all the bells and whistles for Christmas that year............It just makes me realize my little boy has grown up and is closer to being a man than childhood.....sniff, sniff....

Bailie's hair was alot lighter last year. Her hair is naturally a really pretty brunette but she decided to go blond and then last summer she convinced me to let her die it black......that was a little too harsh. Now it's almost back to it's original color.

she still has her moments, but for about 3 or 4 months she's been alot better. I think part of the change was when I told her she was treating everyone like another teen who is a friend of the family. I think it shocked her into thinking about how she acts.

I promise I'll have an update tonight or tomorrow morning....I have to spend today catching up on life..........can't it just stop while I'm away?:rotfl2:

Oy!!
I only got about an hour of sleep saturday night, then spent the day at the bowling tournament followed by a couple of hours at the mall.........in an effort to stay awake for the 3 hour drive home I managed to drink one huge energy drink, and 2 no doze.
Stupid, Stupid, me!!
On the bright side, I was wide awake untill midnight. The bad side is today I'm so shakey I feel like I'm going to shake right out of my skin. I also can't stand or sit up for more than 2 seconds before I fall over. I'm pretty sure even my brain has the shakes.
I've never had an actual hang over before, but I think this must be close. I also have an ulcer that flares up anytime I have more than 1 Dr. Pepper.
I swear, my stupidity is legendary.
I almost forgot....Ethan did great!! He placed 14 out of 28 boys. So he's ranked 14th in the state of boys under 11. Not too shabby for his first year of bowling!
After he got his first strike he ran back to his seat and did the "cabbage patch" I nearly fell off my chair laughing. :cutie:

Don't anyone pass out.....it's time for an update....one that actually has something to do with the trip to Disneyworld even!!
After a second go around on TSM we managed to meander over to the animation studio......I still get so lost in this park! The lay out confuses the heck out of me, so I never know what order we'll do things in.
I had seen on the time schedule that Bolt characters were doing meet and greets there at 10;30, so that's where we headed.
As we were passing through the gift shop there I feel in love with a precious moments figurine....it was Belle wrapping the paw of a little stuffed beast! I loved it!
We happened to run into this rodent with a hat first......
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01405.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01406.jpg
When Bolt came out I was really excited because Rhino was with him! I love Rhino!! Other than the dancing hippos from Fantasia, he's the only disney charcter shaped like me!
We had such great interaction with him....I felt bad for Bolt, because Rhino was the obvious star of the show!

He's a ladies hamster.....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01421.jpg
As you can see Bolt just stood there most of the time.:confused3 Maybe it just wasn't his day or the person before had peed in the suit, whatever it was he was way out shown by Rhino.
Bailie has an aversion to giant hairy rodents, shaped like her Mom so she only got in the group shot....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01428.jpg
And she was thrilled to death to have the giant pee'd on paw on her shoulder.
Rhino was so much fun!! He is only 2nd to one other character as far as interaction! But you won't hear about that till the last full day........so about 6 months from now..;)
We stopped for a potty break and when I came out of the bathroom, D.Jay surprised me with the Belle! I was so happy! It almost makes me cry when I look at it . D.Jay is the best!
up next....Bailie meets her match!

Ok. My side of the story. There are times in a guy's life that he must bend to the .... hang on. Not correct. When Cherie shows interest in something and it's a "gotta make it happen Kodak moment," I try to make it happen. :goodvibes In this case, I knew Cherie fell in love with that particular figurine by her facial expression, the way she gingerly touched it (a "my precious" moment), and the huge inhale of air followed by "Hey Deeg. Look at this!!!" What can I do? The time and place were correct. I wasn't going to let a "he needs to get you a new ring" moment pass me by again.
For those of you who don't know, when Cherie and I went to DW the first time on our own, we went to see the princesses and take pictures. As we approached Aurora, she saw Cherie's ring, asked how long we were married, and suggested I get her a new ring. Unbeknownst to her and Aurora, in our room at POP, I had a new ring I was going to give Cherie at DW, I was just waiting for the right moment. The problem was the ring was still at the resort, not in my hand. :scared: A perfect moment wasted.
So, short story long, I try not to miss those moments anymore. So far I seem to be batting 1000 on that level.:cloud9:

It was time for the long awaited adr at 50's Prime time! We all love this place and were looking forward to seeing Mil's reaction to it.
One thing I have noticed is if you get a great sever it's 10x's better.
We got the best "cousin" ever! He was hillarious and really gave Bailie a hard time!
When he first walked up i noticed his tag said "Jamal South Africa". But when he opened his mouth he sounded more like Jamal from boston.
I asked him about it and he said he forgot his name tag so just grabbed another one.:rotfl2:
I'm not sure what's going on here.....looks like mil is asking a question..
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01430.jpg
Everyone ordered a shake to begin with, they are so good there!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01431.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01432.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01433.jpg
"Jamal" gave Ethan a hard time because he was drinking his shake too fast, so he gave me the rest of it...
Then he knocked bailie's elbows off the table and called her "sassy elbows".
He teased Ethan a little more.....
After we had our meals and were eating a couple were seated right behind us...somehow evan struck up a conversation with them...They had never been there before, so he was explaining things to them.
"Jamal" walked up and told him to get to work. So evan had to set their table and explain everything to them. It was great!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01448.jpg
"Jamal" nick named Hunter shaggy ( he didn't get it so I had to explain who shaggy from scooby doo is).
Hunter wasn't eating his green beans so "jamal" told him to eat them or get a hair cut.
During this whole time He and Bailie had been giving eachother a hard time...she was loving it!
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01447.jpg
When it came time for dessert, this is what he brought her....
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01439.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01440.jpg
It was the rest of her chicken pot pie with whip cream and sprinkles!
She refused to eat it so he tried to drag her into "time out"
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01442.jpg
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv20/winkerspictures/DSC01444.jpg
He was by far our favorite "cousin". I was trying to write down everything funny he said or did, but I couldn't keep up! It was great to see someone give Bailie a hard time! He re-named her Miss sassy elbow's diva.
up next....Al Gore is a loon.....

Yes, I did give it to her that night when we got back to the resort.
50's was a blast! Bailie refused to have a picture taken with our "cousin" so he decided to help us get one with him. When Bailie refused to go into time out, he sat in her chair so that she couldn't sit down. She had to stand for a few minutes while he talked with the rest of the family.
