Is the Donald Duck safari character meal at AK park or at a resort? I'm guessing I can't do this meal unless I have a ticket to go to the park. Is this correct? Would love to do this breakfast but not gung-ho about spending the money to go to AK. I've heard if you have a good zoo at home don't bother going to AK, and we do.

We enjoy the AK. They have more than just animals there. There area some great shows (Lion King, Nemo) and have a GREAT rollercoaster -Expedition Everest!! We always spend a day at the AK, although we dont usually need a whole day from open to close. To answer your question, no, you cant enter the park to eat a character breakfast if you dont have a ticket. You would have to choose a breakfast at a resort or another park you may be going to.

I agree with the above poster's comments - if you are interested in seeing Donald in particular then I would highly recommend the breakfast at Cape May at the Beach Club Resort. If you are interested more in the type of food served at Tusker House in AK, then Boma's breakfast serves similar fare and we found it excellent - but no characters.

Chef Mickey's is at the Contemporary hotel and features: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald for breakfast or dinner.

1900 Park Fare is at the Grand Floridian hotel and has different characters for Bfast and Dinner.

Cape May has a character Breakfast.

Trex is a new dinosaur themed restaurant in Dowtown Disney. It is not a Disney restaurant and does not feature any Disney characters.

If you have a multiday ticket or PH ticket I would suggest you go to AK for yourself. Its not a Zoo only park. The show Nemo is phenomenal and the parade is very high energy with fantastic music, undescribable floats and features some old school characters that I did not see elsewhere at WDW.

I go to the National Zoo often, and I don't think AK is anything like the zoo, except that I usually see the lions sleeping at both places! Our zoo doesn't have shows or characters or rides!

I was going to say that I heard Boma's breakfast in the AKL has the same foods, but no characters. I would also say that Ohana's breakfast at the Poly gives you Stitch, Lilo, Mickey and someone else I have forgotten.

IMO - it depends how many days you have planned at WDW. Because of the ticket structure - if you're already going 4 or 5 days to parks it is CHEAP to add on an additional day to use one at AK. I MIGHT agree with you if I was going for one day and spending $75 (times 4 for my whole family) for a day at AK. But when you think about adding a 6th day to a 5 day ticket and it costs somewhere between $5 - $10 to add on that day - its a no brainer to me - DEFINITELY worth adding a day on for - even if you ONLY wanted to go to this meal.

Also, one of my TOP 5 FAVORITE WDW attractions is Nemo- THe Musical at AK. And you DEFINITELY won't find that at any zoo I know! It's more like what you find on Broadway! It's worth a trip to the park just for this IMO!

Let us know what you decide! :)

I agree with PP's that AK is far more than a zoo. The first time I was there (which was within it's first year open) I wasn't too thrilled, until we rode Dinosaur...but now, we plan a whole day there too because we've found so much more to enjoy other than the animals. We LOVE Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo The Musical, and my newfound fave....EXPEDITION EVEREST!

But, if you have park hoppers, you could go there for breakfast and then head to whichever park you had planned for the rest of the day.

I would also say that Ohana's breakfast at the Poly gives you Stitch, Lilo, Mickey and someone else I have forgotten.

Thanks, I certainly forgot that one on my list!
