I was visiting the Expo to pick up my packet for the 1/2 Marathon I am running tomorrow.
While going through the exhibits & vendors and trolling for free stuff, I came upon a booth for the Marine Corps Marathon in DC in October. I was talking with the 2 very nice & pretty young ladies who were working the booth. I said how I had really heard great things about their race & I hoped to run it soon.
Right there on the spot they offered me a free entry into the 2009 race if I could GUARANTEE that I could be there (for obvious reasons..). My brother lives in a 'burb of DC & it is the day before his birthday. BUT, unfortunately I was not sure if I could be there, so I could not take them up on the offer.
But it WAS cool to (for once) be in the right place at the right time. Maybe next year...........
