I love Amazing Race, too... I think there should be an Amazing Race, Disney Edition. Can't you see the Disney fans going crazy running through the parks worldwide, looking for characters, clues, Fast Passes?? The roadblocks could be to down 25 Dole Whips or even to SWIM THROUGH BAY LAKE (sorry, Pete.) Thoughts? What would you all add to the show?:happytv:

LOVE Amazing Race!! There are very few shows we still watch "live" - everything is TIVO now. AR is one of them (along with How I Met Your Mother!!) I am so excited that it is back!
Disney-style AR would be awesome - definitely would have to swim in the lakes along with playing all the other games that I see people play:
play run through the strollers and carts traffic,
push people/cut in line,
who can talk the loudest while in line,
how many fast passes can you take at once,
tallest child on a father's shoulder during the fireworks,
most food on one plate during a buffet trip,
and my all time favorite: wildest child meltdown due to pushing your kid through his/her naptime.

I've never really watched the show, but the fact that there is a deaf contestant has really peaked my interest. I have taken a few college courses on ASL and am always happy to see examples of ABILITY as opposed to disability. Looking forward to the show tonight!

We love this show too. I noticed on cbs.com that they have the usual teams, the cheerleaders, the genius brother/sister team, the mother and son team, the engaged couple that's going to see how solid their relationship is, etc. Kind of which they'd change it up a bit but I'm just nitpicking.
How about teams like Pete and Walter, Corey and Julie, Kevin and John----now that would really be an interesting show!
I see they start in LA this year and there first stop is in Switzerland where they will be bungee jumping. Should be a fun first episode.

I would love to be on the AR. A co-worker and I sent in an application a few years ago. I thought we had the prefect team: the drop dead beautiful girl (not me) and the slightly oversized co-worker. Apparently CBS thought differently.

I have been a fan of this show since Day 1 back in in 2001! I wish I could be a contestant, but could never take that kind of time off from work, and now I have children, and frankly, am probably too old and unfit to do anything that involves running. But, I love it anyway. TAR - Disney could visit all parks in the world! (Guess it is the wrong network though...)

Actually Amazing Race is affiliated with Disney - Bruckheimer. If you look at the rules for applying, no one employed by the Walt Disney Company is allowed to apply.

Actually, Disney is associated with TAR - Bruckheimer, same guy who did Pirates. If you read the TAR application rules, if you work for Disney you can't apply.

We LOVE the Amazing Race! Watched it tonight with the kids. My 5 yr old daughter immediately said she would want to be the one who gets to bungee jump while my 7 yr old son said no way! We've always known she's much more adventurous and willing to try anything once!
We asked them after the show if they thought Mom and Dad should do it. My son said, "No, you'd probably lose in the first week anyways." Thanks for the vote of confidence kid!

Great opening show. I haven't picked my favorite team yet, it takes me a couple of shows before I have my favorite. Right now may favorites are the stunt men, followed by the older couple (I always want the older couple to do well, hmmm so figure), then the mother and son. Oh yes, and I like the brother/sister team.....well, as you can tell I haven't exactly narrowed down my favorite yet. :lmao:

I thought most of the teams broke the rules on the cheese task. They were supposed to use that horridly ancient device to transport their cheese, and most of them just carried it. Some even rolled it down the hill!!! one team was pretty creative and used the device as a cheese sled, but i thought most of them "cheesed out" on their method!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Whipperwhirl
02-16-2009, 06:23 AM
Im pretty sure the clue said the tool to carry the cheese had been provided for their use - not that they had to use it - I would have rolled the cheese down the hill and tried to take out those giant bell ringers like bowling pins. I cried at the end - I really do think this is going to be a good season.

Best season start IMHO! :thumbsup2 Loved that it was more like Season 1 where the racers had to figure out the best transportation when on the ground. The last few seasons had been a bit spoon-fed with only 1 road to get there or pre-assigned transport. :snooty:
I think the editing was better too - past few seasons had so much footage at the airports :rolleyes1
Wow, that redneck husband is pretty hard on his wife. :scared: However, he did have the best idea of using the contraption like a toboggan. I don't know why they all carried it down and just didn't roll them down and then carry them over to the weigh in station. :confused3 This was one of the best challenges ever :rotfl2:
It always bugs me tho how a few female teams are always "lookers" while what eye candy do we get? Two short guys and a gay father/son team! :rotfl2:
Frontrunners to win seem like the stuntment and bro-sis team. :woohoo: After watching the episode I think the mom&son are definite contenders too. :cool1: I  that Phil signed them at the mat. I always liked the kiwi!
cheers,

Did you catch the son on the father/son team wrote School of Rock? It was funny because my son came in and said he was an actor and I said no, he was a writer. My son kept saying he knew he had seen him in a movie and knew he was an actor. Finally, he remembered which movie he had seen him in-School of Rock. Apparently, in addition to writing the movie, he got to be in it.:)

Yea, he was a little tough there. But seriously, have these people never seen the show?! It doesn't look like she's going to physically be able to do it at all.
For me, the first few weeks of the show are always about who I want to get Philiminated and off my television immediately, then I worry about who I want to win later. The self-proclaimed hicks, the cheerleaders, and the flight attendants can leave any time now.

I think you're right. They were on my "go now" list too. If you're already fighting on day one, you're not going to make it. This is why my hubby and I will never be on this show.
I do, however, hear the theme music in my head when I'm doing the Soarin' Stampede!

Amazingly enough, Dh and I have NEVER seen this show until last night. I am usually anti-reality shows (never seen one single moment of Idol or Survivor either). A friend kept telling us to watch since she knows we are big world travelers and we'd enjoy the locales.
So we watched last night and I loved it, (Dh just liked it). Hillbilly couple (their name for themselves) aren't going to make it and Blondes and Redheads can leave anytime too.
Our favs? Luke and Mom (I cried when Phil signed to Luke), stuntmen brothers, lawyers sibs, and older married couple.
Can't wait for next week!

We finally got to watch it tonight and OMG..the run away cheese was hysterical. I loved the reaction of the Swiss as well, they could not stop laughing at the stupid Americans.
I'm so glad that the fighting, whiny couple got eliminated. I could not imagine being in a relationship where the main mode of communication is bickering! Why stay with someone that makes you so mad and unhappy?
The hick couple...didn't they watch the show before? Didn't they know how physical it is and how the wife has to be able to run? I'm amazed that they didn't get kicked off first, but I have a feeling that they'll be gone next week.
Love this show!

My DH and I love AR, but are always confused by some of the contestants. Most say they are huge fans of the show, but don't seem prepared for just how physically demanding the race is. I don't know about you, but before applying I'd be living in the gym. It keeps some of the better personalities or at least the more fun to watch from making it as far. I'd love to see one of the "older" teams win this time instead of the super fit but not too bright teams.
We've talked about applying in the past, now we'll have to wait for our kids to be old enough to leave behind and to con someone into babysitting.

I havent seen a mom of triplets on the show - that could be your in . . .
No kidding on the clueless people - Im sure they have some formula they use when picking out contestants. Like there must be two teams who are clueless - there must me one physically challenged team - there must be a minimum of one "blonde" team - one older couple - etc.

We also love to watch the Amazing Race. This season looks like it is going to be a good one. The rolling cheese was the best! I was laughing so hard, my husband was just looking at me like "Are you OK?" I laugh pretty hard when someone is playing polish horseshoes too, not that they are related.

My wife and I watch the show, and in years past we were part of a fantasy Amazing Race draft where we get to pick teams and see who is left standing at the end. It adds even more excitement when the teams are "your own." Our money is on the brother/sister lawyers.

Haha, I used to do something like this at my work- we used to pick names out of a hat and if the team you pulled got kicked off that week you won the money in the pot, but now I work from home so I guess I win every week ;). I love this show too and I am glad there seem to be an interesting group of teams this time. I would love to see an older team win too!
