I have a nine year old son. And I am afraid the food won't be enough on the kids meal. This kid goes to burger king and he eats a whopper meal and a small cheese burger. Did your big kids get enough?

I think this totally depends on where you go. If you don't think it'll be enough, just order him an adult meal.
Are you on the Dining Plan???
If SO for table service meals, you will be required to order from the kids menu- but buffets are a great solution if he's a big eater. You pay for a kids price and he'll get an adult amount of food :-).

When my dd was 9, I upgraded her to the adult dining plan (we were AP holders so I didn't have to worry about her ticket). But that was because she prefers the adult meals.

If you're doing free dining or the 7 for 4, it might be worth it. If you're paying OOP, you can order whichever works for you.

Or will you have enough from your meals to share? Buy an appetizer, maybe?

Thanks! We are on the plan. The first time we were on it. It was more then enough. But man this kid can eat. I have our ADR's already. I don't eat that much. So maybe I can share mine with his on top of what he is already eating.

I didn't even think of a appetizer. Thank you. We are on the military special so not sure if I can get him the adult plan.

Good question. My almost 8 year old also eats like an adult and the kids meals are too small and the variety (or should I say lack of) is awful. I don't want to pay for him as an adult so dh and I will have to share our food with him as well as pay OOP for some meals. On the other hand, the kids menus are perfect for my 6 year old.

Like other posters have said, it depends on the meal ordered and how hungry your child is, but I have to say, the adult portions of meals are certainly large enough, IMO to share also. We share a lot of meals!

Sometimes it works to get an adult meal for the kid, and a kid's meal for an adult and just share various parts.

(Most adults (and many kids) in this country eat way too much food at a meal anyway -- this can help with portion control).

For sit down meals choose as many buffets and family style meals as you can - that way he can have as much as he wants.

For counter service - look at the places that serve larger portions and plan on sharing. For instance, I generally travel as 3 adults, at cosmic rays we shared 2 chicken and rib meals and ended up taking our desserts to go because we were so full from the meals themselves (and we're not lite eaters). You could also use some snack credits to supplement his counter service meals to get extra food.

I have a 7 year old that is a big eater also.
When we were there 2 years ago on the DDP I would share some of mine with him if needed at TS.

So many people have unused snacks at the end of their stay...Don't forget if a particular meal seems like it won't be enough for ds - you can always grab something that is a snack credit on the menu. A side of fruit...an apple sauce...a muffin....depending where you are there might be lots of options.

OR...if everyone isn't 100% full after a meal - we never worry about it (we usually split 3 CS meals between the 4 of us) - because we know that in about an hour we'll just use our snack credits to get an ice cream (hey- it's vacation - we don't do it at home!).
