We've been planning to take this trip since before BobbleHead was born. The last time CasualCat and I were at WDW was September 2004 when I was 7 months pregnant with BobbleHead. We decided during that trip that we would come back to celebrate BobbleHead's 5th birthday.

I began officially researching and making preliminary plans almost a year ago, not too long after I found out I was pregnant with BlueEyes. We initially were planning to stay at either ASMovies or Pop. Then, it was either Pop or WL, and recently either AKL/AKV, WL, or CBR.

When I called yesterday to book our trip, the order of our preferences was:

AKV 1 br value villa (wasn't available for our dates using 40% off PIN)
AKL standard room w/ savanna view (available, booked using 40% off PIN, and paid in full)
WL standard room w/ courtyard view
CBR pirate room w/ water view

Now that the trip booked and paid for, the real fun can begin. Check back regularly for updates on my planning progress. :)

I updated our itinerary, based on research I've done on crowd levels, best parks to visits, and parks to avoid for each day of our trip. The itinerary may change. I'm waiting for MVMCP dates and EMHs to be announced.

Next on my to do list: researching counter service restaurants.

I haven't posted to my PTR in a while, and I decided to restart posting by introducing our cast.

CAST:
Myself (Tokyo Girl) and DH (Casual Cat)
We're both 30 years old. I'll turn 31 in June. We've been together 10.5 years and married almost 8 years. Tokyo Girl and Casual Cat are our gamer/user names on our video game systems (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii). And here we are this past Christmas.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/xmas2008028.jpg

DS#1 - Bobble Head/Birthday Boy
He's currently 4 years old and will turn 5 during our trip. He got the nickname Bobble Head as a baby. He had incredible head control early on, but he loved to move his head around just like a bobblehead toy. Here he is on his 4th birthday.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/Liam/DSCF3200.jpg

DS#2 - Blue Eyes
He turns 6 months old on Sunday. We call him Blue Eyes because he has beautiful blue eyes just like his daddy (DH), and I honestly though I'd have a blue-eyed baby. Here he is with his first plush Mickey, a gift from Grandpa (my dad).

I started my Disney binder a few weeks ago. Yeah, I'm one of those people. What can I say...I'm a planner, I love being organized, and I love doing research for our trips/vacations.

So far I have sections for:
1. Resort info
2. Dining Plan info
3. Resort restaurant menus
4. Magic Kingdom menus
5. Epcot menus
6. Disney Hollywood Studios menus
7. Animal Kingdom menus
8. Downtown Disney menus
9. Touring plans (Just general touring plans and NOT detail down to the minute touring plans - That's just crazy, especially with 2 little ones!)
10. Events/Activities

In the front, I have zipper pocket for storing pens, markers, and whatever else.

In the back, I have pockets to store stuff that I don't want to hole punch. Currently in them, I have the Vacation Planning DVD, our invoice (which is paid in full  ), our 1st set of customize maps (plan to order another set in 6 months), and the special trip planning information that we received from Disney earlier this week.

Isn't the planning fun? I'm presently trying to convince my DH that we need to go again...December this time. :santa: I actually just wrote out a "proposal" to give to him stating my case!!! I made a list of pros and cons for a Dec. trip and miraculously I could only come up pros!!!! Hopefully I'll be starting another trip planning binder soon...my fingers are crossed.

It's so much fun! I'm keeping my fingers for you! December is a great time of year to go to Disney! :)

I see that you're in Charleston. DH and I use to live in Charleston. I graduated from CofC, and DH graduated from The Citadel. :)

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted on my PTR!

Here's what been happening trip-wise:

I bought the 2009 Passporter guide. I'm really loving this guide!
I printed up the menus for all the counter service restaurants that are on the QSDP and put them in my binder.
We bought a Maclaren Twin Triumph stroller. We've been planning to do this since last year. Here's a few pictures:
The boys trying it out

The back with our diaper bag hanging the handles
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/Liam%20and%20Bryan/DSCF3408.jpg
We bought a 2009 Honda CR-V. We were planning on driving our Honda Civic to Disney, but discovered that we wouldn't be able to fit our luggage, stroller, and pack-n-play in the trunk. So we went to look at and test drive vehicles, and we ended up getting a 2nd vehicle, the CR-V, a lot sooner than we were planning on. I love it! It meets all our needs as the family car.
We decided not to buy tickets to MVMCP. We were going on Dec 3rd, which is BobbleHead's b-day, but apparently there's not going to be one on that day, at least, not at the moment. And honestly, it's not worth the money to us. Instead, we're going book Liam on one of the pirate adventure cruises (http://www.wdwinfo.com/just_for_kids/piratecruise.htm).

I think that everything.

I was so excited when I got the email from Disney about park souvies for sale on their website. Now I can order personalized ears for my boys before our trip without having to pay a ridiculous price.

Now which ones should I get?

For BobbleHead:
traditional black

For Bobblehead I can go either way, but I am kinda leaning toward the pirate one. It is just to cute.pirate: I might have to get one for Liam as well.;)

I would definatly do the baby blue one for blue eyes. It will definatly set off those beautiful eyes he has.

Very cool stroller. The boys look super comfy in it! :goodvibes

Congrats on the new car! I LOVE Honda! I have an '06 2 door Civic and DH has a Ridgeline. They've both been great cars!

I too was planning on going to MVMCP on the 3rd but now since they are not doing that date we are going to the one on the 1st. Let me just tell you that before we went to MNSSHP we weren't really sure it was going to be worth the extra $ but it SO was! So much so that we have been to that party twice now and are really looking fwd to the Xmas party. If you change your mind about it I think you guys would love it! Even if it's not on Bobble Head's bday.

My PS3 name is TokyoGirl, I think. I haven't played on PS3 in a while. I'm currently Fable II on the 360, and DH is currently playing Fall Out 3 on the 360. We have Little Big Planet, which is one of BobbleHead's favorite games. We have Rock Band 2, but for the 360. We play it individually, as a couple, and as a family (on the no-fail setting as a family).

Thank you! I think so, too! Here they are last week at the zoo:

I love our stroller! And it is very comfy. The best part is that it has an adjustable recline, which comes in handy if the boys fall asleep in the stroller, which BlueEyes did last week at the zoo.

Thanks! We love Honda also. We had a '06 Pilot, but we turned it in at the end of the lease in February. I really wish we had purchased it, instead of turning in. I really loved it. Oh, well. I do love CR-V.

I'm still debating going to MVMCP. $160 is just a lot of money.

I think those 2 ears are definitely the ones I'm going to order.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: lots of celebrating to do!!

I still don't see what the draw is to Xbox 360 over PS3. My DH and I are considering getting the 360 but the fact that you have to pay to play online AND it doesn't even have a wireless adapter that comes with it really really turn me off from spending my $ on it.

Very cute updated pictures of the boys from the zoo. :thumbsup2

Oh yeah the Pilot is a lovely car. I sometimes wish I had gotten something bigger than my Civic but I still love it. My next car will either be an Accord or something luxury like a BMW or something. But that's quite a ways down the road yet.

You're right, $160 is a lot of money but I still think it's worth it if you can swing it. There's lots of activities that they do during the parties that they don't do during normal park hours.

I've decided that every Friday night from now until we leave will be Disney Family Movie Night. I listed all our Disney movies alphabetically in Excel and then used a random sequence generator to assign each movie a week. We actually have more movies than weeks.

This week's movie is: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

The final movie before we leave will be Wall-E.

Here's the complete list:
Chronicles of Narnia
Little Mermaid
Tigger Movie
Toy Story 2
Chicken Little
Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest
Cars
Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End
Ratatouille
Monsters, Inc.
Toy Story
Incredibles
Wall-E
Pirates of the Caribbean 1: Curse of the Black Pearl
Lilo & Stitch
Lion King
Finding Nemo

With November/December hour in hand, I finally sat down to come up with a new tentative itinerary, which may or may not change between now and our arrival at Disney.

Tentative Itinerary:
Our touring plan (thus far) for each day. We plan to leave the parks mid-day to go back to the resort for lunch, naps, etc, and then head back to the parks in the afternoon.

11/28 : Drive from home to DH's grandparents in North Augusta, SC. Approximately 4 hour drive.

11/29 : Leave North Augusta ~7am (approximately 7.5 hour drive); Arrival at Animal Kingdom Lodge hopefully by 4pm (this includes allowing for stops for food, gas, restroom); head to Downtown Disney for shopping, dinner at Earl of Sandwich, and dessert at Ghirardelli; possibly go to Disney Hollywood Studios for evening Extra Magic Hours

11/30 : morning EMH at Animal Kingdom; evening EMH at Magic Kingdom

12/1 : morning EMH at Epcot; afternoon/evening at whatever park we feel like doing

12/2 : morning at Magic Kingdom; evening EMH at Animal Kingdom

12/3 : Liam's birthday - 7:40 am Character breakfast at 'Ohana; rest of the day open to whatever Liam wants to do; must stop by a park to pick up his Birthday Fun Card; I may try to schedule a private resort photo session for this day.

12/4 : morning at Disney Hollywood Studios; evening EMH at Epcot

12/5 : possibly morning EMH at Disney Hollywood Studios; Departure

The first movie night ended up with just me and DH watching Narnia. Liam fell asleep about half way through it, and Bryan has no interest in watching tv, much less a movie. :(

We have our 2nd movie night tonight. Hopefully, it'll be better. We'll be watching The Little Mermaid.

I don't mind at all. I actually the idea from families board.

It definitely went better. Liam really enjoyed it. He was cracking up the entire movie. Bryan still has no interest in tv or movies, which is a good thing. 11-month-olds shouldn't be watching tv anyway. So it looks like movie nights will just be me, DH, and Liam for now.

Thanks! I think skirts will be okay. I'm little concerned about the Gap skirt because it's not as full as the other 3 so it may make it a little harder to get on and off rides.

His birthday present - Mr. Potatohead.....
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/Bryan/DSCF3717.jpg

which leads to my next topic.....Souvenirs

These are the souvenirs that we most definitely want to buy:

1. Mr. Potatohead fill-a-box: Both boys now have their own potatohead. So I thought this would be a great souvenir for them.

2. Mouse ears for both boys: I was going to order these from Disney before our trip, but I decided that we'll just wait until we get there to buy them.

3. a blue & white rice bowl and 4 black & white rice bowl from shop in Japan Pavilion: I have 3 (use to be 4 until I broke one) of these blue & white rice bowls - each with a different pattern. I bought the one in the picture along with the one I broke in the shop in the Japan pavilion in Epcot. I want to buy another blue & white one to replace the one I broke and at least 4 black & white ones to go with our current set of dishes.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/Other/DSCF3720.jpg

4. Build a lightsaber: for BobbleHead because he's a huge Star Wars fan and has been asking for a lightsaber.

5. Lightsaber: for CasualCat. I don't know if this is possible or not. Tatooine Traders in DHS use to sell lightsabers that were for display purposes only. Because it's been 5 years since the last time we were there, I don't know if they still sell them.

Cute birthday pix!!!! Hope he had a great day!

My youngest wants to do the build a lightsaber thing too! We have collected I think EVERY potato head part over the years! Cram as much as you can in those boxes! They say it has to close...doesn't have to look pretty! And....Japan....our favorite for the kitchen! Most of our cups, plates and bowls are from that store!

happy belated bday Blue Eyes!! He looks so happy in the pictures ;)

Great idea on the souvies! I love the rice bowls and let me tell you, building a light saber is fun! My DH did it in 2007 and even he had fun. Just try to do it when there isn't a crowd around. Then you can really take your time with it. As for the display light saber I believe they do still have it in the store in DHS. If you don't see it out you can always ask one of the CM's. :thumbsup2

Just popping in to say hi and hope everything is ok!!!

Everything's ok! I've just been a bit of a slacker the past few weeks. Thanks for popping!

I really need to get my butt into gear. Only 40 days to go! LOL!

cltk78
10-20-2009, 04:42 PM
So a little update.

First, only 40 days to go! WooHoo! :cool1:

Disney movie night is going well. We watched Cars this past Friday, and this Friday it's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Love Johnny Depp!

We got a Costco membership a couple weeks ago, and over the weekend I discovered they have chicken nuggets shaped like Mickey heads. So you know I had to buy some. :rolleyes1

I've started buying stuff for our trip. Last week I bought disposable swim diapers, disposable sippy cups, and scalp sunscreen. The scalp sunscreen was an absolute must because BlueEyes has white blond hair, through which you can see his scalp, and he absolutely refuses to wear hats. I also bought a tinted moisturizer for myself because I'm not a big makeup wearer, and I recently throw away all my makeup, because the last time I used any of it was when my grandfather passed away in April '08. :scared1:, but I do want to look decent for photos.

I ordered this GoodyPak for BobbleHead, and it'll be delivered to our resort.
http://goodypak.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=21&products_id=174

We made a list on our must do attractions and ordered custom park maps from Disney. They arrived on Saturday. :cool1:

Next on my agenda is to try to get seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccinations for both boys. This really needs to be done ASAP if they're going to be effective in for our trip. I've actually been trying to get this done for a month. Our doctor's office hasn't received their shipment. The county health department, when they do have them, do them on a first come, first serve basis. Who has time to stand in a long line for hours on end with 2 little one in hopes of actually getting the shot. :confused3 I did that in 2004 when I was pregnant with BobbleHead, and there was a shortage. I almost passed out in the process. Never again! I'll be doing my weekly call to the doctor's office tomorrow. I'll also being calling the other family practice in town. They do flu vaccinations without requiring you to be one of their patients. Keep my fingers crossed.

I think that covers everything. Once again, sorry I've been a slacker.

ETA: Ok, I thought of a couple more things.

I also ordered this lanyard for BobbleHead. He's a huge Mickey fan. The pouch has a clear pocket on the back, in which I plan to place a piece of paper with our cell phone numbers just in case he goes missing.
http://goodypak.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=38&products_id=265

Using a permanent marker, I wrote our last name and my cell phone number on a few places of the frame of our stroller in case it goes missing. I also took pictures of it's serial number and locked them on the memory card so that we have a record of it.

Still no flu shots! Ugh! We may just take BobbleHead to CVS or Walgreens for his. He's my biggest concern because I know he'll be touching anything and everything at Disney, and he constantly touches his face, a habit we need to break him of. Some good news, CasualCat will be getting his seasonal flu shot next week at work for FREE. Yay!

Great must do lists!!! I have a long list also!! I bought Ridemax...it seems to be pretty good. Maybe get that and try it. It is pretty cheap and allows you to schedule breaks and everything.

I called the Dr again yesterday to see if they had the regular flu shots back in yet and they said no but that they had the swine flu shot. So, I took the kids yesterday and got that done. Now, they said they should have the regular one back in in November. So, I'm hopng I can get it soon! The company that makes both are right near my house and my aunt works in hr there. She said they have stopped making the regular vaccine for now to keep up with the demand for the swine flu one. :scared1: I hope I didn't wait too long for the regular one??!!!

30 days to go.... WooHoo! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

First, I'm probably won't be on here tomorrow. We have a busy day tomorrow. In morning, we have to take cardboard boxes to the recycling center and then go Costco, in the afternoon, we're going to our town's Halloween carnival, and in the evening, I'm taking the boys trick-or-treating while CasualCat stays home and hand out candy. Anyway, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Halloween!

Now time for some trip planning updates:

I ordered CasualCat a fleece jacket - only $14.95 at Cabelas.com. :woohoo: - because he doesn't have any warm lightweight jackets.

I'm working on our touring plans. I'm up to Dec 2nd so far. I'm hoping to finish them up so that I post them next week.

BobbleHead and I made a countdown chain. Well, actually, I did most of the work because he lost interest.

Here's the chain. Each link has the date and the number of day to go. First says "October 30 - 30 days to go" and last "November 29 - Hurray! We're at Disney!" in a Disney font, of course. :rotfl:

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/Clothing%20for%20WDW/DisneyTrip/DSCF3984.jpg

I'll post Halloween pics on Monday. Have a great weekend! :)

ETA: I forgot today's Friday aka Disney Family Movie Night. Tonight's movie is Ratatouille.

As promised, Halloween Pics:

BobbleHead was Obi Wan Kenobi, and BlueEyes was R2-D2.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i220/cltk78/Halloween%202009/DSCF3992.jpg

For the second year in a row, the town's Halloween carnival was canceled due to rain. :sad1: I think they need to come up with an alternate rain location that's indoors.

I only took BobbleHead trick-or-treating because it was raining on and off Saturday night. BlueEyes stayed home and helped DH hand out candy. We only made it through about half way through the neighborhood, which is better than last year. Last year, we only made it a third of the way. Note: there's 120 houses in our neighborhood, not including the new section, which isn't even completely built up yet.

Thanks! I bet baby Chewie was adorable. BlueEyes was originally going to be Yoda, but then I saw the R2 costume.

Here it fluctuated between drizzling and pouring. Good thing I took our big golf umbrella with us.

Today I printed up a couple stroller signs that I downloaded from mouseforless (http://www.themouseforless.com/downloads/StrollerTags.shtml). One was the Pirates of the Caribbean and the other Cutie Mickey and Friends. I put them in sheet protectors and figured out how I'm going to attach them. I won't actually attach them until we arrive at Disney.

I also packed (Wow! Did I just say packed?) a bag with our swim gear - my bathing suit and cover-up, swim trunks for CasualCat and BobbleHead, swim diapers for BlueEyes, BobbleHead's life vest, and BlueEyes's floatie suit thing. Not sure what to call it, but here's a pic of BobbleHead wearing floatie suit thing.

Sounds like you're getting ready! Good idea on the stroller tags. And aww at the picture! Already packing 'eh? I preordered our PhotoPass CD on Tuesday. Using the email link I received and 25% off code that was posted in a thread on Theme Park board, it only cost me $73 and change. WooHoo! :cool1:

BlueEyes got his flu shot today. Our Dr's office finally got in the shot for kids under 3. Still no word on when they'll get in the shot for kids over 3. Well, at least, 2 of the 4 of us are now vaccinated. I guess that's better than none of us.

OMG! Only 2 weeks to go!

:scared1:

I don't feel ready. I still need to buy a few things for our trip - sugar & creamer (because the little packets they provide in-room is never enough), Lysol (I intend to spray everything in the room before I'll allow the boys in there), goldfish & maybe teddy grahams (snacks for waiting in line if there are long lines), drinks (for the drive down).

I'm still working on my touring plans for the parks. I'll post them tomorrow and get your opinions.

We went grocery shopping yesterday and got everything we need for Thanksgiving dinner and the last few things for our trip. Good news is that we have more than enough food in the house for all our meals between now and until we leave. We'll just need to make a trip to the store this weekend for more milk. WooHoo! :cool1:

We got a great deal on bottled water for the drive down - 24 pack of 16 oz bottles for $2.99.

Only 13 days to go! :cool1:

And I can check us in online on Thursday! WooHoo! :cool1:

My eyes went  when I saw my ticker this morning and it said "1 week and 6 days." We've been pretty much planning to take this trip for 5 years. We'd probably be there this week if BobbleHead had actually been born on time, instead of 15 days late.

I think I'm going to do some packing today, probably just some of my clothes (capris and short sleeve shirts - stuff I know I won't wear over the next week). We'll actually leave here next Saturday. It's about a 4-hour drive from here to DH's grandparents. Then next Sunday we'll drive from there to Disney, which is about an 8-hour drive.

So the only thing I got done yesterday was washing by hand all the disposable sippy cups. Speaking of the sippy cups, I ordered 4 6-packs from Drugstore .com (got a good deal on them) and wasn't given a choice of which colors I wanted. So I received 2 packs with blue, green, and orange, and 2 packs with purple, yellow, and PINK. :scared1: We'll be using the pink ones in the car where no one else can see our 14-month-old boy with a pink cup. :rotfl:
