Hello there, this is my first post here but I wanted to let you know Ive been registered with all the Disney sites and I have never gotten a pin code. Well I read on this board sometime last week to add Disney Destinations email vacation@registration.disneyworld.com to my contact list. I did that and then just today I ordered a custom map, and about 3 hours later I received a $500.00 disney gift card pin from that very email address. coinky dink??? You all may be on to something. :donald:

I just added it to my contact list. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have been whining and complaining that how can I go every year for the last 5 years and not ever get a pin code. I booked the 4/3 in August but if a better deal comes up I am open to changing dates.

From a technical standpoint (I run computer systems for a living), I don't see how adding an email address to your contact list in your email program would score you an email from them with a PIN code.

Your email address book/contact list is a feature of your email program for your convenience when sending a new email to a person. Your adding anyone to that contact list does not notify them in any way.

SOME email programs also use the contact list to know who you expect to receive email from, and therefore are less likely to filter out email from those addresses as junk email/spam. They are not perfect (addresses are easily forged), but if the concern is that such emails might get filtered, adding vacation@registration.disneyworld.com to your contact list would help prevent that. That is why Disney recommends you add it to your contact list.

If you don't, and they send email to you, there is some chance that it could end up in your spam/junkmail folder - which you should periodically check for emails that aren't spam. Must programs have a way for you to mark them as "not spam" so it will also learn that way.

I do my own email filtering (I run my own server), and nothing from Disney is filtered - and I've never received a PIN code in email. :(

I am so new to this, I'm not sure I'm following all of this info. I am constantly on disney.com, but I don't know where to "register" to enter my "preferences". Can you illuminate?:wizard

........nevermind! I think it figured it out. Thanks!

What exactly does the $500 gift card pin entail? What are they dates, how do you get it, what is it for, etc?

Completely agree with your points here, especially after working within a technical field within messaging (email, instant messaging, faxing, etc) for 10 years. I would probably say what people have done is probably more of a coincidence. For example, I have comcast and I always receive emails from Disney Destinations including the email address above, but have not received pin codes for the longest time. The worst that can happen with comcast's email is your email will go into a spam folder which as previously stated you should check periodically anyways. If you use other email systems such as hotmail, yahoo, etc there is a possibility that they would block emails from certain addresses before ever reaching your mailbox, but I don't believe they would ever block a disney.com address. We had software that did that using blacklists and also external servers that filtered all messages coming in/out of our environment.

Also, Companies consistently change their email addresses for example a few years ago I would receive these pins from disneyworld@vacation.disneyworld.com which it looks like they don't utilize anymore. Since they consistently restructure their companies and change email addresses adding a specific address wouldn't help down the line if it changes once again.

The main thing here is that emails from Disney will be considered "safe" to receive and not end up in the spam filter. The other is that someone ordered maps to be mailed to them...which I believe is the thing that actually triggered for an offer to be sent. Also, updating information in the profile section of Disney's website of how many times you've been along with the date of the last trip can trigger a pin code.

Good luck everyone!

I had already added the above address to my contacts/address book, to keep it out of spam. But I agree that this will not help me get them to send me a pin. So, I did try ordering the custom maps today, and updating mine and my DDs info and preferences, on the "My Disney Vacation " page.
I'll let you know if it helps. :goodvibes

By the way, does anyone in the western states seem to get pins/codes for WDW? I don't notice many on here. I did get something from DL last week-

I was referring to those who were adding the address to their contact lists alone...I was not referring to the OP specifically.

They are referring to mass e-mails from Disney randomly sent to individuals containing a pin allowing free dining from Aug 16-Oct 1.

I did receive a pin code for the free dining, however, I already booked last year on bounceback when I was there for free dining. I do not understand how to go to the web site to change preferences? What does that mean? I cannot seem to access the site posted here. I must be doing something wrong as I am not very computer savvy!
Thanks for any help.

Well I did all these things, and then within the last 48 hrs, I ordered the custom Disney maps, and today I got an offer!!! (Disney Destinations)
It's the $500 Disney gift card with a 5 night stay 3/1 thru 4/16. $594 per adult double oc. value room. Park tickets incl. (Non hopper)
We're going in Oct., but boy am I tempted. So far the flights are what is keeping me from booking.
I will be watching my grandkids for a week in March, and have taken it off from work already, so you can imagine how tough this is. They are also going in Oct, with my DD and DSIL, and us.
I don't know if I can make this trip with my DGD2 and DGS7, with no help from their mom. DGD has never flown, so that worries me, and having her so far from home. (My DD and DSIL will be in Puerto Vallarta that week.
I guess if I can find a killer deal on airfare, I can justify this trip. AAAHHHH....
Disney is so mean!

They are referring to going back to where you registered at Disney to receive offers, newletters, etc, logging in, and updating your profile. It has three optional questions like how many times have you been, and what month were you planning on visiting--I don't remember the other one. Anyway, they are changing whatever month they had listed(if they had one listed at all) to Sept.

I think what got me the offer in today's email, was the update I did on the "MY Vacation" page of Disney's site (also ordered the custom maps.) That is the one that asks when you plan to visit again, how many times in the past and so on. So, they knew I was planning to go in Oct., so they give me an offer for spring... hummm, I'm wise to you guys, now ;) . I think I may need to update again and try a different month, and maybe I'll get na offer for Oct.!!!
Really need the Free dining till Oct 1st deal. Here's hoping! :worship:

I was thinking the same.....I should put another month option instead as we've already booked..or not say exactly how many times we've been.....I will try and order maps I don't think we can as we've not a registered U.S. address.

Received my first ever PIN code...and not even to the email address that I did the updates with:confused3 It is for the $500 gift card...it stated..."glad to see you are planning to come back" lmao...glad they know that before I do lol. Anyway...I was very surprised...but it doesn't work for us. But maybe there is hope that I will get one now that works for us!

Never too late to get a PIN!

My father-in-law received this same offer by mail the other day and brought it to me thinking that we might be able to use it (unfortunately we won't). I haven't a clue why he received it because he is not signed up through any disney websites. Maybe they got is name from an associated company? Who knows, but hopefully we'll see another when we are ready to go!
