Hi guys - just wondering if anybody has a crystal ball. I know the AP rates for end of April/May generally come out at the end of February. Sooo... what do you guys think will happen this year? I'm betting on either February 16th but that's Presidents Day in the States so maybe February 23rd would be a better bet? What are your thoughts?

My prediction would be the week of Feb. 23rd. I did notice that the Passholder website has been cleaned up, so they are working on it. They finally took the fall resort offer off and updated some of the current promotions.

I'll join you on that one. As a DVC member, I used the AP weekend discounts to extend my trips. Now with the discounts gone it looks like I'll be arriving on Sundays now!

Finally!!! I'm waiting for Aug (fingers crossed) & Sept rates to come out. I have a feeling that I'll be waiting for a while.

If history will repeat itself, my "crystal" ball predicts Tuesday or Wednesday, lets hope!! The last 3 years (according to Mousesavers) it was anywhere from the 18th-22nd. It seems to always be a Wed (this wed. is the 18th) and one year it was a Tuesday!

I feel "homeless" even though I have POFQ, I really hope the discount is enough to stay at the WL! We're planning on it but since nothing is a guarantee, its driving me CRAZY trying to plan and not knowing 100% where we are staying!! COME ON COME ON COME ON!

I hope the next one also includes weekends. I got lucky with a 40% pin but really would like to plan either a trip around the end of May or one around my DS's 2nd birthday. Both of which are blacked out with my pin. Oh and weekends are WAY better for us since we only live 3.5 hours away. It's easier for us to make it a long weekend and visit several times throughout the year than to go for an entire week.

That's what we want to do...make a long weekend since my hubby has Friday's off. We won't have to take many vacation days with long weekends thrown in here and there throughout the year. Found some great rates on flights at a local airport into Sanford Airport that I want to take advantage of.

Joining in waiting to see what is released (if any) for late June. I know they probably won't be in the next group released but I can hope! Right now I have the 7/4 deal booked but had planned to buy an AP this year as we are going back in November. I want to try to figure out the most cost effective plan for both trips.

MariaEllerºoº
02-15-2009, 12:56 PM
You could also do the 7/4 Deal with the largest tickets and then apply those towards an AP which would reduce the cost of the AP's.

Disneycrazymom
02-15-2009, 06:15 PM
Thank-you Maria that is my second choice right now.

It all depends on what kind of rate the room would be. Our first trip is 11 nights x 2 rooms, so a good AP rate could save us more than we would save doing the upgrade from the tickets to the AP.

I am thinking about booking the 4/3 deal for May or June. Our APs expire at the end of September and we have a trip planned for December, so I was going to buy new APs in December. If I book the 4/3 deal, how many days tickets should I buy? And can I use them to buy new APs in December as long as I get the no expiration option? If so, how can I use them to apply to APs?

You only need to buy a 1-day ticket for everyone in your group. When you go back in Dec just upgrade your 1-day ticket to an annual pass. We are doing the same thing.

Disneycrazymom
02-16-2009, 08:42 AM
It is true you only need the 1 day ticket but you could save money if you buy 7 days because then you are getting 3 free. But if I understand correctly once you have used 1 day then the ticket is worth its original price (all 7 days) toward the upgrade of the AP. I have read here that the best "deal" for the upgrade is the 10 day ticket.

MariaEllerºoº
02-16-2009, 05:42 PM
If you use a day you will definitely need the No Expiration option otherwise they will expire 14 days after first use.

AP=Annual Pass(holder). This is a discount on the room(s) because you have an AP to the parks. They are attainable through the AP site and/or calling WDW and asking for the AP rate/discount. HTH

Has anyone received the Feb newsletter yet??

Yes, I received mine--not much in it--a bit about the Flower & Garden and Flower Power Concerts, the usual discount coupons for cruising, plays, etc. The only AP offer was good through 4/9/09 (IIRC).

Are rates released at a certain time?

Most of the time they are released first thing in the a.m. (7:00), but I have also seen them hit at 11:00 a.m. and early afternoon--Disney is pretty sly with those AP codes.

Oftentimes the first callers checking (at 7:00 a.m.) are told there is nothing out yet only to find the reservation agent simply didn't know the rates were released--that has got to be frustrating.

I doubt the AP (if it is even available for our dates) will be better than the 4/3 deal, but since we are AP holders, I'll wait and see. Of course, if they don't release before my 45 day window--I'll be stuck with 4/3. That's why I usually won't bite on packages. :confused3 Since I have had zero luck getting an AP for the past few years, I didn't want to run the risk. Time will tell I guess. :headache:

I agree with you 1000 percent! Come on Disney - end the waiting. I wonder how long after the codes are released that I'll still jump out of bed and check the computer?

I seem like such a math loser right now, but according to historical mousesavers release dates it goes like this:

2006 - February 22nd (Last wed of the month, but the next wed. would be March 1)
2007 - February 21st (Second to last wed of the month)
2008 - February 22nd (Second to last wed of the month)

HOPEFULLY, the pattern will continue because the 18th is the second to last wed of this month!

Sadly, the AP discount is a good bit worse than the January to June promo rate I currently have booked. When comparing the room rates only for Polynesian GVC, the discount is 30.16% for the January/June Promo and only 22.50% discount for AP.

Aside from that, I really need the one day base tickets for two in our party who do not have APs. I will use the other two one day tix to upgrade the two APs.

Hope the deal works for others--there was availability for Polynesian Concierge--I found that surprising!

Our dates, May 11-22, 2009. Weekends were included. . .same rate as the weekday.

Okay AP Holders......here's what just happened to me.
I book WL for a total of $3314 (code IWD)...AP rate this morning (May 25th, 12 nights)......
Something didn't seem right. Went online and booked again using GVM and total package was $2889. Same nights/same room types. I called reservations and they changed my original booking to the cheaper code GVM...SO, if you're booking today use code GVM !

Both reservations were very nice and very helpful....just an honest mistake.

May 8 & 9 (fri and sat) at Pop Century for $74/night (total with tax is $166.50)

May 15 (fri) at POR for $104 (total with tax is $117).

Not too bad, but not the greatest. Availability was really slim at the mods and values for the weekend dates. I prefer mods but couldn't get anything the first weekend.

If they extend the deal into the summer, this would be slightly better for us since we don't need tickets (even with the weekend blackout). Might be able to sneak an extra day on the trip then ;)

We had an AAA room only reservation at POP for an early June trip - taking our 9YO granddaughter for an end-of-the-schoolyear trip. Just switched to CBR for about $30.00 more for six nights. Our first choice for our upgrade was POFQ but there were no AP discounts available for a room with two beds; just rooms with one king bed which doesn't help the three of us. But the CBR is a great resort, so we're happy. :yay:

The only thing showing up for WL with a weekend discount is a courtyard bunk bed. Mon-Thurs they have a standard view, woods view etc. Physically the rooms on the weekend are available because you can get them at rack rate.
