Has anyone tried ordering an appetizer instead of the dessert on the DDP? I love the appetizer, but could do without all the sweets!

It is not allowed.

Many would love this but it's really not an equal exchange value when you compare the prices

Even if the prices are the same, desserts are much cheaper to make than appitizers with little exceptions.

I guess I never really thought about the $$$ comparison, but I guess Disney would!! I was just thinking about what my tummy likes!!

I'm definitely with you! I'm not much of a sweets person to begin with, I'd pick cheetos over oreos for a junk food treat anyday.
I was kind of annoyed before I went for the first time after the change but when we actually did it, it was ok. Most places have bread which we didn't even know about the previous years on DDP (we were never offered any with apps :confused3 except at Le Cellier and Narcoossee's). But when we had apps, we were getting full a little more than we liked half way through our entree and had no room for dessert.
With no app, we had left the restaurant most of the time without being unbearably stuffed. Still, we were full but not immobile. It's a good thing they eliminated it because it truly was too much food. I wish we could pick between the two, and I know I am not alone on that, but it's ok that they pick.
Plus, if I don't want dessert, a lot of the signature places have cheese plates for appitizers and desserts that I just asked to have my "dessert" before my meal.
