This is information from those who are on the disboards. I 'm sure there are other dates too.

I'm pretty sure that there was someone who had and imperial cities tour that had a message on their machine.

I wish they would remove canceled dates from their website, and list all those that are sold out and taking waiting lists.

Since all these cancels have been happening, I've been checking other tour companies and they usually said FULL, Almost full, still booking, canceled. I don't understand why ABD is so secretive. I think it makes folks more nervous than if they were just upfront about what was going on. Transparency in a company certainly can help with consumer confidence.

I'm glued to the disboards and what tours are canceled. I know that my tour (Ireland July 22) is one of the tours that is being offered to the canceled folks, so it looks like a go. But I still don't feel that confident.

I appreciate this site. It actually makes things look better than I thought. It just seems they are trimming a little here and there.

I have a question about cancellations.

Is there anyone (or do you know of anyone) that has been moved to another date only to have that adventure cancelled as well?

Our Ireland date was cancelled and we were moved to another date just a few days earlier. I sincerely hope that they would not inconvenience us twice.

(I should have found this Disboard BEFORE I booked my trip. I would have expected the cancellation)

Tigger can I ask which Ireland? We are going June 17th

When I was rebooking -I told the ABD agent that I was afraid to rebook -that I did not want to have my rebooking canceled as well. She said that the ones they were people into were the ones that they were planning on going. She said it would be silly for them to move people into one that they thought there was a chance of canceling. She could not guarantee it -but felt that they would only be canceled if there were some other kind of problem -not because of low enrollment.

Nevermind Tigger -I see you and I are on the same one. She said ours was almost full!!

Ok--being a numbers person (and being bored at lunch today. . .) after reading the numerous posts about cancellations, about ABD being in trouble and possible "not surviving", I got really depressed. So I decided to run a few quick calculations based on available information * (e.g., just the info posted on this website).

To put all the cancellations in perspective. . . ABD originally offered 486 departures on its website. We know this hasn't been updated, because all the cancelled trips are still there. Also, I am not counting the cancelled NYC/Boston itinerary, because I no longer know how many departures were offered.

Anyway, with 486 departures to all destinations -- we know of 31 cancellations. That is approximately 6.4% of all trips listed.

Yes--there may be others that we are not aware of, but this is still statistically a very small percentage.

Maybe this will offer some perspective (which I know will not help if the cancellation actually happened to you. . .), but maybe we can all feel a little better after all??????

In case anyone wants background numbers with percentage calculation by country (which is different than overall percentage of cancelled trips):
Here are the itineraries:

Australia: 26 offered, (1) cancelled =3.8%
China: 18 offered, (2) cancelled = 11%
South Africa (+ Signature): 14 offered
Costa Rica: 28 offered, (2) cancelled = 7.14%
Ecuador: 6 offered
Peru: 21 offered, (1) cancelled = 4.8%
Czech Republ.: 16 offered (2) cancelled = 12.5%
England/France: 36 offered (1) cancelled = 2.7%
Germany: 27 offered (2) cancelled = 7.4%
Ireland: 27 offered (4) cancelled = 14.8%
Italy: 50 offered (2) cancelled = 4%
(someone lost their mind when they decided to make that many departures!)
Central Italy: 27 offered
Provence: 18 offered
Spain: 10 offered
Alps: 15 offered (2) cancelled = 13.3%
Alaska: 10 offered
Southwest: 38 offered (4) cancelled = 10.5%
Glacier/Banf: 12 offered (3) cancelled = 25%
Backstage magic: 22 offered (1) cancelled = 4.5%
Mid Atlantic: 20 offered (1) cancelled = 5%
Northern Calif (+ signature): 12 offered (1) cancelled = 8.3%
Wyoming: 31 offered (2) cancelled = 6.5%

Maybe its not as bad as it looks? Hopefully, there won't be too many more cancellations to update. . . .

Thanks so much for keeping the list updated Happy99, it's great to have all the available Dis Boards info in one place.

In an effort to help you keep on top of things... I noticed this post on the other cancellations thread thread this morning:

Quest for the West all Sept dates have been cancelled. I received the call yesterday and when I called back today I was told the last trip leaving is Aug 30.

Turtlemom

That makes 3 more Quest for the West trips cancelled:
Sept. 1, Sept. 3, and Sept. 6. . . .

Hopefully, the July and August trips will be safe. . . .

Interesting numbers! Thanks for posting them.

Disney canceled our September 17th trip, but switched us to a later date. We're pretty upset for a number of reasons - the biggest one is that we're now going during a shoulder season, which means that everything will be cheaper for Disney while they still charge us the same price. Days will be shorter, nights colder, Venice might be foggy or flooded. Luckily, I booked through a travel agent and they were wonderful smoothing out all the arrangements for us so that we didn't have to pay cancellation fees for changes to our air flights. That would have been the final straw! Pretty disappointing overall.

Not that I want to negate the value of using a travel agent (since I am one), but Disney would have taken care of the fees regardless. They also would take care of any airfare increase when moving you to another date. I only mention this so anyone new to these boards won't think that they'll have yet another thing to worry about if their trip is canceled!

How much later are you going? We went on the Viva trip in September a few years ago, and Venice had flooded the week *before* our trip. I think it's like hurricanes at WDW -- you just never know. I hope the new date works out well for you!

I did not book my airfare through ABD, but they gave me multiple options on how to handle re-booking my airfare for the new dates/destination, and there was no cost to me for the changes. ABD took care of all of that. (I went ahead and had ABD book the new flights for me, as that was the easiest option, and they booked exactly the flights I wanted.)

I wonder if the Sept. cancellations for Quest have anything to do with the crazy weather this year. I remember one of our guides, who had led Quest often, talking about being surprised by snow on one of the trips. We had bad early storms this year, so maybe they looked at low bookings combined with iffy weather and cut their losses there. Just a thought.

Snow storms in September? That would be kind of crazy.
It is also likely that bookings really drop off in September, since most kids are back to school. Quest for the West seems like more of a family trip than some of the other destinations that could appeal more to Adults Only travellers.

There were also earthquake swarms in Yellowstone earlier this year (December/January). That could make for an "exciting" trip as well. . .

Crazy but real. ;) I have been to Yellowstone in June and we had snow. We were staying in the cabins and you could see the breath of the bison (which were grazing right outside our door) it was that cold.

I wonder if this week is full? Aug 25 - Aug 31 (http://allears.net/btp/abd/qw1.htm)

Hi All -

So I spoke with my Disney rep yesterday and she couldn't have been nicer. Maybe it was because I was using sugar instead of vinegar when speaking to her?? Anyway, because our original tour was canceled (june 22) we took advantage of having to go earlier and are now able to catch a performance of the London Symphony Orchestra which for my kids is a dream come true. I asked if I could book a pre-night with them and they said I could but it would be $657.00 - FOR ONE NIGHT!!! So I looked on line at Mariott and I can book it myself for $350.00. When I told her that, she said to go ahead and book it myself but that they would still give me the pre-night transfer and pick us up at the airport. She said she would also put in a request that we get the same room assigned for the duration of our stay so we wouldn't have to change rooms. Pretty accommodating if you ask me. She also told me there were only 4 rooms left on that tour (which to me meant 8 spaces open) so it looks like we are pretty safe for no further cancellations. I rebooked my flights this morning and ABD is picking up the change fee.

Hi All -

So I have found a silver - if not gold - lining in our trip being canceled and rescheduled. When I booked our ABD trip in July and purchased airfare in August, I paid almost $1,500 per ticket!! Before I called American today, I went on their website to book a "new" reservation and the tickets were $950 per ticket!! So - the $250 change fee was absorbed by the decrease in fare AND we were each issued a $260 travel voucher!!! With two kids heading to college (out of town and out of state:((( ) they will be used right away!!
