View Full Version : BEWARE - entering sweepstakes can screw up your Member site login!

Ever since I entered the sweepstakes on Disney's Family web site, I haven't been able to log in to the DVC member site. I just called MS and they completely re-registered me... still can't get in. It's like some kind of crazy endless loop. I mentioned the timing of this with entering the sweepstakes, and my rep. said someone else had called with the same problem. So watch out!

And, if anyone has a suggestion as to how to fix this, I'm all ears! MS couldn't do it; their IT people are supposed to call me in a few days. Meanwhile, I've tried clearing my cookies, logging into the Family site and changing my password, requesting my password/userID through DVC. Nada. :headache:

Strange- the sweepstakes is different site as dvcmember site there uses diff. logon and pw. I had to use my Disney log on and not my dvcmember site log on. Maybe when u used the dvcmember log on, it struck you out or something.
I had to use from my disney shopping.com log on.
Hope this helps.

Just curious, when you entered the sweepstakes, did you use the same name & password that you use to log on to the DVC site? The reason I ask is when we first became DVC members, I already had an ABC login for such shows as Regis and Kelly. Then I had trouble getting in to the DVC site where I thought I needed a different login name & password. It took several phone calls before it was finally figured out that I needed to use my ABC login for everything connected with Disney.

I also have been registering for the Disney sweepstakes. However, I'm not sure if it is going thru or not. I login and click to submit to enter, and then the same screen comes up again. Usually when I enter a contest I get a screen to confirm that my entry was received. With the new Disney sweepstakes, I just get the same screen over again that was there when I first logged in. I'm worried that I'm entering again if I click a second time, and yet I never get a confirmation that I have indeed entered. Did you get the entry accepted/confirmed screen?

Hopefully they can get everything figured out for you. I'm lost if I want to sign in to DVC and am unable to.

That's exactly what happened to me, too.

When I first registered for the DVC member site, it made me use my pre-existing Disneyworld.com username and password; I couldn't create a new one because they already had me in the system. When I entered teh sweepstakes, it made me create a new username. Something definitely isn't working between the two systems!

I can't get in with my member log in either since entering the sweepstakes.
This stinks! I have to pay my dues online.

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I logged into abc.com and was forced during that login to select a member name. I kept going around in a loop trying to do that and it finally accepted what I entered and let me into abc.com. The next time I tried logging into the members' website, it told me my info was not valid. I tried my usual login name and the new member name I had selected at abc.com and neither worked.

I called MS and spoke to one of the people who help people access the members website. Nothing she did (or told me to do) made any difference. She escalated it to Disney IT who were supposed to call me in a few days. As it was a Friday prior to a 3-day weekend, I waited a week and called MS again and they sent another request. A few days later I got an email telling me my account was fixed and that I would need to use my new abc.com member name to login from now on. I tried it and it worked and things have been OK since then. I haven't tried logging into abc.com or any other Disney site since it was fixed because I don't want things to get screwed up again!

Bottom line: if this happens to you, call MS and select the option for help logging in to the members' website. If the MS CM tells you she will send a report to Disney IT and you will be contacted in a few days, stay on top of it. If you don't hear back within a few business days, call MS again. Good luck to anyone else who experiences this problem. It is frustrating to be shut out of the members website for 10 days.

I'm sorry this is happening. I hope people who haven't entered yet take notice. I enter right from my hotmail account, I had received an e-mail to enter. Maybe new people should just go to Disney's site and ask for daily reminders.

PS. You can still pay your dues by phone.

I'm having the same problem after registering for the sweepstakes. I can't believe that the systems can't just recognize the same email address.

So I'm not alone:eek: I still cant access the member site and I knew it had to be because of the sweepstakes I entered:sad2:

I called member services this morning and they had to re-set all my information and told me to re-register.....as of right now the Pin number they gave me to use still wont work:scared1:

Three days and counting....I am hoping I can get it fixed today. I feel helpless without the access to the member site.

Try registering a new disney account for the sweepstake first before logging into your dvcmember site. I don't see how the two can cross... totally different site and cookies.
Also, you can just enter the sweepstake with Texting on your cellphone.

Wow - clearly Disney's got a bunch of stuff crossing. I used a new name to enter the sweepstakes, but same email address, so I'm wondering if that's the connector? What a pain in the rear.

That is what happened to me too! I couldn't figure out why there was a problem, but now that you mention the sweepstakes, that is what I had done a few days prior to the problems with the web site. I had to call MS a few times, and then one day, it was magically better - with my second created user name.

I have been successful in entering the sweepstakes using my DVC member name and password. I always get the confirmation.

When I first called to get the information to set up my initial DVC account, the CM told me that if I had any other logins related to Disney, the system would no longer recognize those as valid once I had set up my DVC login.

I still have 2 different account - dvc and disney shopping... both different email address, same name and address, but different user id. :confused3 stil works and just ordered something online as well.

I just got my log on fixed by calling MS again. Anyone with this problem should call MS and have them re-set your password (they will give you a new pin number). Also make sure you know the initial member number that came with your paperwork when you purchased (this is different from your member ID number). MS can give this to you as well. You will then have to re-register all of you information onto the website.

This should take care of the problem (that many seem to be having) Hope this helps.

That happened to me too. I called back and got someone different only to find out that the first person I spoke with mixed up a letter on the new Pin number they gave me? I would ask MS to stay on the phone with you until you get logged back on (which is what I did the second time). I had to re-eneter the info twice while on the phone but it finally took!

I wish I would have known this YESTERDAY... before I entered that stupid contest LAST NIGHT...so I could log on to the member sight TODAY. I thought it was because I forgot to pay my dues.:rotfl: Thanks for posting so the rest of us know what to do to get it resolved.

I also had the same issue last week after registering for a promotion. The next day I tried to log into the member site and had problems so I had to call and get everything reset. The person I talked to was able to help me get it resolved while I was on the phone, but I had to use a different username to reset the account.

I have two different e-mail sig ins with Disney. When I changed to a new address, they continued to send me their info to the old address also. I register for the contest twice each day. I have just checked and I can sign into my DVC account with no problem. Thank Goodness ...from a huge Gator Fan in Canada

I had the same problem last summer. I used my Disney user name and password to register for the site, and afterward I couldn't access any of my other Disney accounts. I ended up having to create a brand new Yahoo account and re registering for everything under that account. :headache:

I am never going near that site again!

Disney's websites talk to each other. If you have a DVC log in that same information should allow you access to any Disney shared system. By signing up for other Disney websites, you affectively change the log in to the DVC website.

The fix is to delete cookies and have DVC IT reset your account. They will direct you to a go.Disney site where you will re-register a master user name and password. Within 24 hours, the new user name and password will be available on all shared Disney websites. :surfweb:

Ooo, this is good to know! Because...

Since so many of us are experiencing this insanity, thought I'd post an update. When MS helped me re-register yesterday, I created a new username and password. Both were confirmed to have been changed when I requested username and password help from the member site, so I know they took. But they still wouldn't work to let me login.

I decided to give it overnight to sort itself out... nope. Still can't get in. I can, however, use that username and password to access every other stinking Disney site! So I'll be calling MS again after the morning rush has passed. I'll come back with whatever new info. I receive.

ETA: I'm back and happy to report that I received a very nice email from MS saying my account was fixed! I was skeptical... but sure, enough I can log in again! I'm staying far, far away from the family site... ;)

I had some difficulty with this also. I think I finally got it fixed by using the "guest services" link at the bottom of the disney site. You can go from there to "your account". I have had a few different password/username/email combinations on the Disney family sites, and I was able to update them to the same one. There's a way to close out or link multiple accounts there. It was highly frustrating at first, and it's nice to know it wasn't just me.

I think the security of my DVC account is compromised by this sign-in issue. I did not notice any "logout" button on the screen after I entered the sweepstakes. (Maybe it was there and I didn't notice it.) When I went to login to DVC site, I was already signed in so I was taken immediately to my personal page. Doesn't seem like a very safe way to keep my DVC account info secure.

I hate to say but I didn't like the way it redirected you so didn't try to log in. I went to the Family site and didn't see the sweepsstakes there.

I hope this wasn't a Phishing E-mail and it got all of your account info.

I would change some passwords just to be on the safe side if your having issues.

I agree - it is legit. Amazing though what a mess one little log-in can cause!

I had an issue about 2 years ago - separate usernames & passwords for DVC and the ABC family. Somehow, the DVC password changed to the ABC family password, so now both usernames have the same password. :confused3 I still, to this day, don't know what the heck I did or why that happened, but I ALWAYS proceed with caution on ANY of the Disney sites!! :rotfl2: (and I must admit to a little bit of paranoia every time I attempt a log-in!)

I had a similar problem a few years ago between the WDW site and the DVC member site. Someone suggested that I may still be logged into the WDW site, and that pervented me from logging onto DVC. I went back to WDW, logged off, and the problem was fixed.

EXACTLY!! The problem lies in the fact that you are logged into another Disney site. So to correct the problem all you need to do is go to that Disney site your logged into, most of the time the main site, and log out. Then go to the DVC login page and you should have no problem.:thumbsup2

Did you keep your same Log-in and PW? I found that my kids were trying to enter other Disney sites using different log-ins and PW's and the same thing happened. My DVC helped me figure it out. I make sure to keep the same across the board and warned the family. Good luck! :o)

We are waiting for member services to call us back to try and fix the problem. I am sure that this latest round of problems stems from all the new features of the "enhanced" Disney site. I don't think that I can take any more of these improvements!

I've been having a minor problem ever since I started entering the sweepstakes every morning. When I try to log into the member site it says I'm already logged in, but if I just logout of the member site, it allows me to then log in again & everything is fine. I have a username for the member site & I use my email address for the sweepstakes. :confused3

I use the same name and password I do for dvcmember and other disney sites and have not had a problem so far. I'll avoid that particlar sweepstakes if it comes up.
