View Full Version : Are Child/Adult TS credits the same on your card?

In the past when we've done the dining plan we've had 14 TS credits for a 7 day trip (7 for me and 7 for DH). This is the first time my son will be "of age" by Disney standards and will also be on the dining plan (he's 3).

Since we'll be traveling in a large group (my parents and my sister and her family) and we'll be eating some meals together and some meals apart and my DH and I will have some meals alone I'm worried about the chaos of the TS credits.

I guess my questions is this:

Will we simply have 21 TS credits (7 each for me, DH and DS3) or will we have 14 ADULT TS credits and 7 child credits?

Since my parents will be taking my son to dinner 2x while DH and I have "date nights" I would like them to be able to just run their card through as 3 TS credits each time and then we can cover their TS credits with our card during a meal we have with them.

I think I'm confusing myself so I hope this makes sense to someone who might have the answer. ;)

Thanks in advance.

14 adult, 7 child.

Unless your parents are on the same reservation as you, they cannot use their credits for your son in any event. Your son can use his own KTTW card to pay for his meal, however.

Sorry, won't work at the table service restaurants -- they do keep track of child & adult credits so the "child" registration will be on your room cards, not anyone else's. They can take son's card with them to get it swiped, though.

If your folks are in a room as "2 adults" that's what their cards will register as, so they wouldn't be allowed to run 3 adult meals through at one meal anyway.

Is this a new policy?

On past visits we've done this.

Example A: We went with my parents. All were on the meal plan, but had two different rooms/ressies. DH would use his card and swipe all 4 meals at dinner one night and my dad would use his card and swipe all 4 the next night.

Example B: Met up with friends from the Orlando area for dinner one night. We "paid" for their meals by using 4 table service credits from our account.

Both situations you state above are expressly against the current policy. Meal credits are to be used only for the people named on the KTTW card.

Unfortunately quite a few people did what you did in both instances and some even paid out of pocket for their kids meals, then used the kids credits for adult meals, consequently Disney had to tighten up and start enforcing the rules. Your KTTW card will show 2 adults and one child on your reservation. You will not be allowed to use a child credit for an adult meal, nor will your parents be allowed to buy three meals with their KTTW card, because their card will show 2 adults. Dining CMs have posted on here that they have been warned against letting people get anything, except what shows on their KTTW card and have been told they can lose their jobs, if they do so. You can send your son's KTTW with your parents and then they can have the dining CM run their card through for their meal and your son's card through for his meal. If you meet friends you will not be allowed to pay for their meals with your dining plan, because the waiter will not be able to take off any more than two adult meals and one child meal off your KTTW card at a meal.

Not to beat a dead horse, but can someone show me where this policy is? I can't find any documentation saying that someone can't order 2 meals in one sitting. As long as the credits match the person sitting at the table (and there is not a person sharing), it says you can use your credits in any way you see fit.

The brochure has a FAQ on the back page. Question #1 specifically deals with this topic.

We just got back last week where we asked if we could run 3 TS meals through on our card (2 adults) and we were told NO at more than one place. We had a large group, several rooms, all on various dining plans. We had to show 5 different room cards at each meal with 2 adults on each room. I remember in the past where they would be willing to swipe one card one time and then another the next time since we were all eating together anyway but this time they would not do it.

Sorry, I was not clear. I was not talking about redeeming meals for other people not on the reservation or on the dining plan. I mean 2 people, both in the same room, on the same plan, being super piggy piggies and ordering 3 entrees and there are no other people at the table that could possibly be mooching off their plan. I can't find anywhere that says this is not allowed.

This is the closest I can find to an answer:

Q. Must I use exactly 1 Table Service, 1 Quick Service and 1 Snack each night of my
package stay?

A. No, for maximum flexibility, meal entitlements can be used whenever you like during your
package stay.

This is from the DxDP brochure:

Q. Can I use my Disney Deluxe Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members who are not included in my reservation and have not purchased this plan?

A. Sorry, you may not use your Disney Deluxe Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members who are not included in your reservation and have not purchased this plan.

Also, from the front cover:

Disney Deluxe Dining Plan meals and snacks may not be redeemed for cash in whole or in part, sold separately, transferred or refunded. [emphasis mine]

I'm having a hard time wording how I want this to come out. I think this is the right way:
While you can use your credits in any order (3 TS meals in one day, using 6 adults credits) you can NEVER exceed the number of TS credits at any one meal. So if you have 2 adults on your reservation the most TS credit you can use at any ONE meal is TWO. You can use TWO more at another meal later in the day but never more than TWO at one meal.

ETA: Except in the case of signature meals. You can then "exceed" the number of credits as that would take 4 credits but again, not the # of adults (2x2).

That makes sense, but where are you finding that policy? It seems that it is coming from experiences but not an actual policy against it. Like Faldred said, you can't TRANSFER points which I totally agree with, but nowhere does it say that I can't exceed MY points for ME in one meal.

I understand the crackdown when there are mixed parties at a table. It would be a nightmare to police who ate what to make sure there is no abuse.

I could not find the language for it to be honest. It was totally from reading posts on here. :)

Thank you Summer!!! That's where my confusion was...Dis rumor (or experience) or real DDP policy.
