I have booked my Yacht Club vacation through AAA, should I still be able to fax a room request a couple of days before I leave? I had read somewhere, if you book through a travel agent, faxing room requests doesn't do any good.
Thanks,
Kim:confused:

I would also like to know if you can fax your own room requests if you booked through a travel agent. We leave on June 1 for WDW and CBR and want to fax our request (our travel agent has been a bit testy the last couple of times we talked to him :( ). Would appreciate any advice from someone who's had the same experience :)

I booked the CRO and I am wondering what you mean by a room request? We are staying POFQ, what would be a good room to stay in there? This is all so new to me!

Disney is usually very strict about reservations that were made by travel agents. They won't add, change or delete anything on them unless the agent calls them with the information. The easiest way to be sure is to call your TA and tell them what you want. Have them call Disney. After all, they're getting paid to do it for you!
You may get lucky if you just send a fax to your resort and get a room assigner to block your requests. If they don't, just ask at resort check in for what you want. There is always some flexibility to be had.
CarolH: Looks like it's time to get a new TA. ;) Or better yet...do it yourself.

So, if you call and make your own reservations without a TA, what is the best way to request a room?

So, GoldenOldie, is it good for the TA to call the resort directly and speak to the room assignor, or should the TA send a fax to the room assignor? I didn't know if you could actually speak to that specific person if you call, or if the only way to do it was by fax. Only 6 more days until we leave for WDW. How many days in advance is good to send requests? I thought Tuesday would be good as we are arriving on Saturday. Thanks for the help!

The TA can do either (if you can get him to do it!) although most TA's would have just called CRO and had them noted on your reservation.
If the requests were going to be added to the reservation, that could have been done anytime up to 5 days before arrival. When you are within the 5 days of arrival time frame like you will be, you can't do it through CRO, well not if you want the requests honored anyway. ;) Your TA will have to call/fax the resort directly.
Good luck.

We booked our entire trip through AAA for April, 2001. I faxed the Wilderness Lodge, 5-days before our arrival, and received every one of our requests. I would give it a try. It doesn't cost you anything but time. Good luck! :)

It's your reservation, why can't you make requests??

I think you can send a fax even if you made the reservation through a TA. You just can't make any changes, like change room category or add/subtract nights.
