Hi neighbors,

We're not DVC members yet, but hope to be by fall. Franklinville is located approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia, and 60 miles from Atlantic City. It is a very rural area, which is what we like. My husband, kids (21,20, & 15) love Disney, and have spent so much money there in the past 15 years that I could have bought several DVCs already!! Should have done it sooner, but probably was better that we didn't, as I got remarried a year ago to a wonderful man (last husband could have taken Disney or left it, poor misguided man (LOL), and I'm already going through the hassle of selling or buying out my previous marital home. Sorry for so much information, it just kind of slipped out. Anyway, nice to see I have so many neighbors here on the DIS. ;)

Lucky devil (NJ Devil?). Living in Smithville and a DVC member. As a BWV member, do you ever forget where you are when you see Lucy and the other reminders of "home"? (Or rather, home 50-60 years ago.)

Hi NJDVCers. I live in Millville(Cumberland County) which is pretty close to Teresa. We bought in 99 and have our second DVC vacation planned for the beginning of Aug. this year!

01-18-2001, 03:21 PM
One state away and ya forget the New Yorka's!
That hurts! Guess I'll have to limit my donation (well, a miniscule portion anyway) to the state next week when I'm in AC

Disneyfan it's in my blood to go to AC and stop at Smithville. It's been a "family tradition" for I guess close to 80 years. It's been interesting to watch the changes in your town. Haven't been in about 3-4 years and I've seen ads for the homes being built there so I imagine it's changed even since then. I just wish some of my great-aunts had lived long enough to see a lot of their youth pretty much recaptured at BWV. One aunt who passed away last year kept talking in her senility about going to the dance hall in AC. I wish we could have gotten her to see Atlantic Dance!

End of story...so, do I qualify as an "honorary" member?

01-18-2001, 04:47 PM
you have my vote Pam!

01-18-2001, 05:08 PM

We are pretty close too! Living in Mullica Twnshp. and originally from Hammonton.
My nephew just went for an interview as a chef at Smithville the other day! We are waiting to see if he got the job. We may be going to eat there a little more often! Also I have a friend who lives in Smithville. She is a Partylite consultant. Well like I said before going back to BWV in April can't wait!!!!!

01-19-2001, 06:36 AM
Can I get in on this? I grew up in Dumont, and moved to Massachusetts when I was 15. I live in RI now.

Originally from Glen Rock way up north in Bergen County, my wife is from Wildwood Crest way down south, were in Barnegat in Ocean County for 13 years and now in Egg Harbor in Atlantic County for 3 months. I maintain my next move will be in a coffin, but maybe the lure of WDW will lead to a furture FL move after retirement. I always thought it would be a great post-retirement job to work at WDW.

01-19-2001, 09:09 AM
I have to jump in with another central Jersey location. We are in Marlboro Twsp in Monmouth County. We have been OKW/DVC owners since Dec. 93 and just did an add on at Vero. Couldn't be happier with our purchase. It is so nice to see all the NJ people!! Heading back Home in August this year and cannot wait!

01-19-2001, 01:04 PM
We are from Jamesburg NJ, and just joined DVC in
October 2000. Home resort is OKW.....Best thing
we ever did.

01-19-2001, 01:30 PM
We live in Ocean City in Cape May County. We are about 8 miles south of Atlantic City. My wife grew up in O.C. and I grew up in New York City before I moved to North Wildwood as a teen and have lived in Ocean City for 16 years.

Count us in!!! Bellmawr NJ, Exit 3 off of the NJ turnpike. Members since 4/00. We used our first points in Dec/00 and are sneaking away without the kids for a long weekend in 3/01. Gotta love those air mile credit cards!!!! 2 people from our child's school belong also!!

Closed on Vero Beach in December.
We're from Nutley...GSP exit 151

01-19-2001, 03:04 PM
Wall, NJ to be specific, in Monmouth County...exit 98 on the GSP. My husband and I have been vacationing yearly at Disney ever since we met in 95. We got married at Disney in 98 and joined the DVC in Feb of 99 choosing BWV as home. Finally made our first trip down to BWV in November of 2000 and had a blast. First BWV GV trip in April/May of 2001. We're loving our DVC so far!

01-19-2001, 03:30 PM
Hi - We are from Cranford ( Union County ) and have been members at the BWV since 1998. By the way we LOVE to visit Smithville.

01-19-2001, 05:04 PM
We're from Wyckoff, NJ in Bergen County. We joined in June, 2000. We've already taken a trip home in Nov, are going to HH in Feb. and are going back home again this Nov. This is one of the smartest things we've done for ourselves!

01-19-2001, 07:42 PM
It is nice to read all the comments from fellow New Jerseyans. WE are recent DVC owners--purchased a resale in October. We have not been to Disney yet as owners;however, we have been going to Disney since 1972. Butler is located in Morris County in North Jersey. We are looking forward to our next trip during the summer. See Yaaa!

01-20-2001, 03:51 AM
We are in Somerville, in somerset county. We joined DVC in August '99 with 200 pts. Made our first DVC visit in August 2000... and had to add on another 100 pts for christmas. All at BWV. Nothing like the DVC and the DIS to feed that old disney addiction. ;)

Hi all, we're in Belleville, Essex Cty and we joined in June 99. HAve a summer home on LBI, can't wait to open it in April! Love DVC! OKW in MAy! :D

We don't live in NJ yet but are building a house in Morris County and will be moving up as soon as school is out here in Maryland.
I don't think I saw any others from Morris County listed here, maybe because it's too cold out there in the mountains?
We became members in 96 and DVC has already paid for itself. We've been to all the DVC resorts, Magic, Wonder, Hawaii, Tanque Verde Ranch, England and Grand Cayman! Thanks DVC.
We will miss our Maryland DIS friends (they better come to visit) and hope to meet all you NJ DISers soon.

I currently reside in Lyndhurst, NJ, and have been a BWV member since January 1st 2000. My only regret is that I couldn't afford to buy more points. I'm currently saving to double my points, either at BWV through a resale or at the Beach Club when it opens in 2002. I have a feeling that after my first stay this spring at a one bedroom, I won't want to stay at a studio as I had originally planned. The points I purchased allow me 12 days at a studio in the fall, so I used the points tey gave me up front to stay for 2 weeks at a one bedroom. I guess I'll have to save really hard to make it happen.

Well I'm saving up to buy my first load of points (in the range of 175-225) at BCV in Nov. 2002, six months after I graduate from college - I am the cheapest twenty-year-old alive so I'll be able to do that free and clear (assuming my job prospects look anything like the offers this year's seniors are getting). For the time being, I am renting points off the rent/trade board.

I grew up in Boonton and Mountain Lakes, both in Morris County, and went to high school in Morristown. Now I go to Princeton, which is in Mercer County. I love NJ - best state in the union - just wish it would get a little warmer! 6 inches of snow on the ground right now! :D ;)

Last trip was November 2000 to OKW and 4 day

I live in Linwood, NJ which is in Atlantic County about 20 minutes outside of Atlantic City. We are also very close to Smithville and go there all the time. I just love the Octoberfest and the shops are great. RLevy in EHT is also very close to me but she doesn't count as a new found DVC NJ friend because we have been best friends for the past 32 years so we see each other or talk on the phone together at least 3 times a week! :)

I'm not in NJ, but live about 1 mile away. We like to go to Cherry Hill Mall and Wildwood. Those trips will cost more soon since the tolls went from $2 to $3. I'm still getting over the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge going from a nickel to a dime.

BTW, since we have so many of you Jerseyites in one place, it may be a good opportunity for all to post some tips on the safe and proper procedures for operating a motor vehicle!

We're from Tuckerton in South Jersey, right on the borders of Ocean and Atlantic Counties. When I was a kid we would take the boat across the bay to Atlatic City. That was before the casinos of course. Now we have the BWV to take us on a trip down memory lane! I just wish they would add the Planters Peanut man. I know he probably wasn't around way back then but he is part of my AC past! :)By the way, a lot of you mentioned Smithville so I thought I would add that we had our wedding reception there at the Inn!

01-27-2001, 06:13 AM
Hi thepoohbear, your right the planters peanut man would be a great addition, I remember him too. BWV has Lucy the elephant and she's not even in A.C., she's in margate. Many New Jersians are transplanted New Yorkers. I'm from Manhattan and my husband was born and raised in the Bronx.

We have been going to Disney since 78' when my son was 4 years old. Wish that dvc was around at that time. Would have saved us alot of money since we always stayed on disney property.

Wow..............and I thought I knew NJ like the back of my hand! I think I learned of at least 30 new places in my own tiny home state in this thread!

Well, speaking for me and my DW -

Both families started out in Bayonne
Both moved to Clifton in the fifties
Both moved to "the shore" in the eighties.

We now live in Manchester, Ocean County.

Proud owners at BWV since 97. Only wish I had been smart enough to buy in DVC when I got my first letter from Disney about "the new type of timeshare they were designing". Oh.........those free passes!
