How long before a RFC gift card expires. I know most gift cards last a year but I know some only last 6 moths so I wanted to be sure and double check.

I just called them, I was wondering too. No expiration, no fees.

However, as with anyplace, 7 different calls w/ 7 different customer service agents could get you 7 different answers!

I called 1.866.956.0957, maybe you could see if you get the same answer.

Also, you can check your gift card history here: https://www.landrysgiftcards.com/landrysrestaurants/

Click View History.

Don't hold those RFC gift cards for too long. Landry's Restaurants is one of the companies Yahoo mentioned as not being able to survive this year. Apparently they have WAY too much debt and can't find a buyer. See this clip from the Houston Fox affiliate:

"Houston-based Landry's Restaurant chain could be one of the latest victims of our struggling economy. The chain is on a list of 15 businesses which some analysts are warning may not make it through the year.

We've already seen the recession sweeping household names off the map. Circuit City pulling the plug, Lawrence Marshall Dealerships running out of gas.

Experts are predicting 2009 bankruptcies will triple what they were in 2008. And now, if new projections released by Yahoo Finance are accurate, one of the "biggest fish" in the restaurant business may be going under this year.

"Consumers are going out less, spending less, and Landry's depends on discretionary spending", says Professor Ronald Singer of the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer College of Business.

Headed by Galveston native, Tilman Fertitta, Landry's operates The Aquarium restaurants, Saltgrass Steak House, Landry's Seafood, and more than a dozen other eateries from coast to coast. It employs more than 27,000 full-time workers.

But the Yahoo Finance forecast says Landry's needs $400 million in new financing to finalize a buyout deal, and its stock is now down 66 percent.

"That's a huge decline", notes Singer, adding "The economy is such that they're a sort of high-end restaurant, and people just aren't going there anymore."

And Landry's Gold Nugget Casino business has lost its glimmer, as well. Between job cuts and investment losses, fewer consumers are betting on Las Vegas. Making matters worse, Hurricane Ike cost the company $13 million.

"They've concentrated on the high-end consumer products, and those things are going to go first in this deep recession we've got," says Singer.

Adding insult to injury, Wall Street's closing bell on Monday was not music to the company's ears. It stock dropped nearly 11 percent from Friday's close.

Other notable companies included on the report include:

Blockbuster, which has 60,000 employees
Six Flags, which has 30,000 employees and two locations in Texas"

I was coming over to post the same thing. We are stopping keeping these in stock *just in case* and only ordering them as people cash out for them. While I have to think that they would find a buyer for Rainforest and TRex, it would mean that you could not use the Landrys cards there anymore.

We had a Joe's Crab Shack that we could use the Landrys cards for in Indy and all of a sudden we can't anymore. :( Thankfully we will be at WDW in April to use them (hopefully!!).

ACK! Thanks rflorek and Tricia for posting this! I have a $25 landry's card and was planning to get 2 more to use for our Sept 2009 trip. Now I will just cash out for Disney gift cards.
(Good thing I'm going to Vegas in 5 weeks-I'll use my $25 for drinks at the Rainforest Cafe :woohoo: )

Thank yourflorek and Tricia for the heads up. Maybe I will cash out for Walmart or Target and "buy" them from myself. Hopefully mypoints carries these. I have only cashed out for Rainforest using mypoints. That 100.00 RFC gift card was sure nice to have, though.

MyPoints carries both Target & Wal-Mart (though sometimes denominations go temporarily out of stock).

Since I have 2 very knowlegable people on this thread I will ask this. I am pretty sure I know the answer but it never hurts to double check. Should I be safe to save Disney Dollars and the Disney Gift Card? We used both for our last vacation and I had saved over 500.00 using both of these. I am wanting to do this again but I thought I would double check...
Thanks

Sunshine Rewards has been given no information at all that the Disney Dollars or Disney Gift Cards would not be safe to hold onto. There is a chance that the Disney Dollars will be phased out, but I can't imagine them doing it very quickly. The only reason I even say that is because we have had a couple of different people at Disney tell us that the Disney Dollars are expensive for them and they want to encourage people to get the Disney Gift Cards instead. In fact, it has been increasingly difficult for us to even get our hands on the Disney Dollars.

But I think that even if they were to stop producing the Disney Dollars at some point, they would still have to ACCEPT the ones that are out there.

Maybe another rewards site owner or cast member has different info?
